Utsurobune: The UFO (unidentified floating object) of 19th Century Japan

The image above is one of many illustrations of the Utsurobune no Banjo incident that happened in Japan in the early 19th century. Although there are various accounts of the event, it is believed by many to have been an encounter with extraterrestrials, and not just because the vessel fishermen found in the ocean looks like a flying saucer.

■ The incident
One day late in the winter of 1803, some fishermen located a vessel floating in the Pacific Ocean of the coast of Ibaraki Prefecture. They towed it back to the shore for further investigation.

It’s been described as a round “boat” with some iron plating and glass windows. On the windows were strange geometric shapes that they had never seen before. This craft, which was dubbed an utsurobune or “hollow boat,” measured somewhere between 5 to 10 meters (16.4 to 32.8 feet) across.

Upon opening the craft they found a woman inside. The woman was described as a banjo, a word which meant “barbarian woman” or simply referred to a white woman. Remember, political correctness was still ages away at this point.

However, this woman spoke a language that no one could understand and likewise she couldn’t understand them. She wore clothes like they had never seen and a long white colored hair extension. She also clung to a rather large box that no one was allowed to look inside.

With communication at an impasse the locals all decided the best course of action would be to put her back in the craft and into the ocean where she came from. That’s just what they did and the woman was never heard from again. You have to hand it to old-timey Japanese people. They really knew how to deal with a complex situation efficiently.

■ What was it?
The problem was solved for them at least. For the rest of us it just leaves one big question mark over what exactly happened there. The combination of strange clothes, language, symbols and boat leads many to envision an alien encounter. Added to that, all of the illustrations of the utsurobune certainly seem to resemble a flying saucer (bear in mind they are not drawn to scale).

However, a more likely explanation may have been a hot air balloon’s gondola. Ballooning was just becoming big in Western countries around this time and widely used. This French illustration depicts a hot air balloon from 1808.

Japan, on the other hand, was still a largely closed-off country and not too aware of these developments, especially in small fishing villages. It’s this same closed-off nature that might have made other nations really eager to take a peek inside. So, it might not be far-fetched to assume the utsurobune was just a spy balloon from somewhere like Russia that had crashed into the ocean.

That’s just a theory though, and there are still many mysteries about this incident. For example, stories of similar vessels found in the ocean have been recorded in years before along with other tales of people finding strange women alone in odd places. This year’s Oscar nominee The Tale of The Princess Kaguya is one such fable that was written almost a millennium before.

Unfortunately, with little else to go on, it’s hard to say whether the utsurobune encounter was an international incident, interstellar incident, or just a relatively modern rehashing of an old folktale. Too bad Leonard Nimoy wasn’t alive in 1803. He’s pretty good at figuring this stuff out.

UFOs: Area not immune to sightings

Unidentified objects in the sky have always piqued the interest of mankind, but since the Roswell, New Mexico, incident in 1947, UFO reports have poured in from around the world, including the East Texas area.

In the 1970s and 80s East Texas skies seemed to be abuzz with unknown objects as reports filled the Tyler Morning Telegraph with tales of sightings and even possible abductions during alien encounters.

There were several reported sightings in Tyler during 1973 with a city firefighter and his wife and a former newspaper photographer reporting they had seen strange objects in the sky.

One sighting, reported as happening on Nov. 26, 1976, garnered a lot of attention as hypnotists, physicians and authorities talked to a couple who believed they might have been abducted with several hours unaccounted for by the couple.

David McBurnett and his wife Kathy told the newspaper they were coming back from Dallas when they encountered an object they described as being triangular, grayish in color with bright white light in the center and two red lights on either side.

The McBurnetts could not be located for comment about the story, but could they have actually seen a military jet, such as an F17 stealth fighter?

The F17 was in developmental stages at the time according to government documents, but reportedly took its maiden flight in 1981.

Could the McBurnett sighting and others been spurred by weather balloons in the area?

In 1963 the Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility was moved to Palestine from Boulder, Colorado, and the number of UFO sightings in the area seemed to increase.

Since that time, the facility has launched more than 1,700 balloons for 35 universities, 23 other research agencies and 33 foreign groups.

According to the CSBF website, there has been a dramatic increase in sophistication of experiments and demands for service.

“This can best be shown by comparisons of the growth in payload weight, balloon size and the amount of electronic support provided between 1963 and 1988. The average payload increased from 407 pounds in 1964 to more than 3,000 pounds in 1988,” the website states.

U.S. Air Force Major Jamie Humphries, of North American Aerospace Defense Command, said he does get UFO reports, but many can be explained as low-flying aircraft, weather balloons or some other easily explained object, but some cannot.

“These reports could be from any number of things. Our operations center checks to see if there is any explanation, but sometimes there is just no explanation,” he said.

In July 2004 the Federal Aviation Administration’s phone rang off the wall with reports of an object described as a white, red and green orb streaking across the sky over East Texas.

The newspaper reported the object turned out to be a meteor, but as Tyler police talked about the unidentified object on the radio the evening before, a power outage in Anderson County seemed to be related.

Had a UFO crashed and taken out a power grid?

Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor laughed the next day and said the outage turned out to be a snake slithering on top of a major line at substation causing the blackout.

Though reports of UFOs may not always make the news, they are being filed every year around the globe.

A UFO story lands in a hall of history

Great Barrington museum accepts family’s 1960s account of aliens

SHEFFIELD — This is how the story goes: It’s 1966, and 6-year-old Thomas Reed is in his bedroom on his family’s horse farm in the Berkshires when the encounters begin.

Strange lights. Strange figures in the hallway. Suddenly, he’s in the woods near his home looking at a UFO. Then he and his younger brother, Matthew, are inside the craft. He’s shown a projection of a willow tree.

The following year, there is another incident at their home on Boardman Street in Sheffield. More strange lights. The sound of doors slamming. Then the boys are back inside the vessel. The next thing Thomas knows, he’s in his driveway being scooped up by his mother, who has been searching frantically for the boys on horseback.

Two years later, the family is driving on Route 7 when they see strange lights in the sky. Their car stalls, and then Thomas and his brother and mother and grandmother find themselves in a giant room. He is brought to meet two strange, ant-like figures, then placed in some sort of cage. Next thing, he’s back near the car.

Reed has told these stories many times, and it has not always gone well. But recently, his tale had found recognition in an unlikely place. The Great Barrington Historical Society & Museum has formally inducted the UFO story.

What does that mean? “It means that we believe it is true,” said Debbie Oppermann, the director of the society.

“I know we’re going to get a lot of backlash. We’re going to get hammered,” she said. “But we have given it an awful lot of thought, and, based on the evidence we’ve been given, we believe this is a significant and true event.”

The historical society believes it is the first time a “mainstream” historical society or museum in the United States has declared a UFO encounter to be historical fact. But the decision was far from unanimous; of the nine members of the historical society’s board, three were “strongly opposed” to the decision, Oppermann said, but “it passed with consensus.”

The Reed case already has its own display in the International UFO Museum and Research Center in Roswell, N.M.; now, it’s about to get one in Great Barrington, about 2 miles from where the alleged encounters took place.

What most interests the historical society is the 1969 encounter, because dozens of people in the area reported seeing an unidentified flying object around that time, typically described as a disk-shaped craft performing acrobatic maneuvers in the sky. Many of those eyewitnesses called the local radio station, WSBS, which covered the sightings. (The radio station has provided documentation to the historical society, which interviewed one of those eyewitnesses. They have also examined a polygraph test taken by Thomas Reed.)

Director Debbie Oppermann says the Great Barrington Historical Society believes the Reed family story of having been abducted by aliens in 1969 is true, in part because dozens of people reported seeing a UFO at that time.

The Reed abductions are well known in the world of UFO enthusiasts. Thomas Reed this month was a featured speaker at the International UFO Congress in Arizona, the world’s largest UFO convention. And the story has been the subject of television shows and radio programs through the years. But Reed, who now lives in Tennessee, said the recognition from the museum is historic.

“They took a stand and have chosen to recognize something that many people in their position would have stepped away from,” said Reed, who is now 55. “We know what we saw, and it was not local. It was definitely off-world. And it affected my whole family, and there has been a lot of post-traumatic stress.”

The subject of UFOs and alien encounters has always occupied a fringe position in American culture, with many believers labeled as tin-hat conspiracy theorists obsessed with government coverups. But polls show that the number of Americans who believe has been growing. A 2012 study by Kelton Research, a market research company, found that 36 percent of Americans believe aliens have visited the earth.

But “proof” remains elusive for many, including Ted Acworth, a scientist with a doctorate from Stanford who was doing postdoctoral work at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology when he was tapped to be the “science guy” on the History Channel show “UFO Hunters.”

Acworth looked at some of the more famous cases around the world, and he said he was never able to find what he would consider physical evidence of alien encounters.

“I’m convinced that there are things happening that are unexplainable, but is that proof of a UFO?” said Acworth, who lives in Boston and now works on technology startups. “A lot of highly credible people believe in their bones that they saw something. It’s not just fringe wackos. But the nearest habitable planet is many, many light years away, and I don’t think they’d come here just to scare people and fly home again. They’d make themselves known.”

His mother owned a restaurant in town, and there were those who came in only to make her life miserable. He got beat up a lot by the other kids. His grandmother used to hold a pillow so he could punch it to get his frustration out. After the third encounter, his mother boarded up the boys’ bedroom, quickly sold the house, and they moved a few miles up the road to Great Barrington.

All he can do, he says, is follow what his mother always told him: Speak the truth.

“It hasn’t helped us in any way to talk about,” Reed said. “We’re not making any money. This has tarnished our life. This has smeared our family’s name. It can only hurt you when someone Googles your name.

“But when you have something extraordinary like this happen to you, how do you keep a lid on it?”

Latest UFO Crash Incident In Manitoba: Seen By Many and Reported By Different Individuals

Mysterious lights were seen over Jackhead Reservation in Manitoba, Canada last week. UFOlogists suspect a UFO crash into Lake Winnipeg as military forces allegedly spotted on snowmobiles pulling a massive disc out of the lake. But in response to reports about the UFO crash and recovery, Canadian Forces said it was merely a military training exercise. Seriously?

On Wednesday night, February 18, reports started to make rounds on social media about the lights over Lake Winnipeg. According to the Facebook post by Brent Mancheese, there were reports about the UFO crash on the Jackhead reserve in Manitoba, Canada. Allegedly, vehicles of the Canadian Military were lined up on the north shore. Taking pictures in the scene was strictly prohibited, and the army even issued a threat to anybody who tried to do so. Lots of eyewitnesses were in the area. These witnesses apparently saw a round object being hauled across the lake and pulled out by snowmobiles and bombardier. Eight fishermen reported the incident, but Mancheese wonders why the authorities did not let the media know if it was a plane crash.

In another report, bad thing happened to one witness with a camera. It said that a disc shaped craft was spotted diving into the frozen lake. At least one witness managed to get a photo of the craft. Unfortunately, that person has since been detained by the Canadian military.

According to Lt.-Col. Paul Davies, the Canadian army was taking part in Exercise Arctic Bison 2015, a program that trains military personnel to handle emergencies in harsh environments. Was UFO crash emergency included in the training? Davies said not so.

Davies, the commanding officer of 38 Territorial Battalion Group, explained that there were no aliens or a UFO and just his friends in the Air Force helping them on this exercise.

So, what about those UFO reports? Davies said that it was a craft with quick takeoff capabilities. He explained that it may have appeared like it was going straight up in the air from a distance, but in reality it wasn’t.

Seeing an airplane taking off from a frozen lake is quite unusual. So, what about the crash reports? What about the large disc-shaped object? What about the evidence in the photograph? What about the eyewitnesses?

Dinosaurus gevonden op Mars?

Onvermoeibaar bestudeert ufoloog Scott C. Waring NASA foto’s van Mars.

Met de regelmaat van de klok komt hij dan ook met spectaculaire ontdekkingen.

Waring zegt over zichzelf dat hij iemand is die doorgaat daar waar anderen ophouden.

Als voorbeeld geeft hij de hobby die hij had toen hij studeerde in de Amerikaanse staat Idaho: zoeken naar pijlpunten van indianen van 700 jaar oud.

Zijn vrienden op de universiteit verklaarden hem voor gek en zeiden dat hij zijn tijd verspilde.  Door logisch denken echter en het verbinden van een aantal schakels slaagde hij er toch in om een vijftal van deze pijlpunten op te sporen, die nu in een museum liggen.

Dezelfde volhardendheid gebruikt hij nu bij het bestuderen van NASA foto’s en het vinden van sporen.

Dat levert nogal eens interessante resultaten op, zoals de volgende.

Op één van de NASA foto’s zie je iets wat je niet anders kunt omschrijven dan als de kop van een soort dinosaurus. 

Je ziet duidelijk op de foto’s de kaken en daartussen wat sterk lijkt op de tanden van het dier.

Na nog wat meer speurwerk vond hij op een andere opname iets wat lijkt op een paardenkop. 

Hebben we hier te maken met een paard dat ooit op Mars heeft geleefd, of misschien een soort draak?

Duidelijk is dat er op de NASA foto’s van Mars veel voorwerpen voorkomen die niet door de natuur zijn gevormd en aantonen dat er leven was en mogelijk nog steeds is.

Scott zegt: Wat niet veel mensen weten is dat NASA 50 jaar geleden is opgericht met als doel de waarheid voor de mensen verborgen te houden. Een werkelijkheid echter, die in stukjes en beetjes steeds verder boven water komt.

Hoelang tot de killshot werkelijk wordt? ( Video )

Wij aardbewoners zijn de afgelopen dagen wederom aan een enorme ramp ontsnapt.

Wanneer de laatste zonneuitbarsting een iets andere richting had gehad dan was er nu in ieder geval geen internet meer. Waarbij dat misschien dan wel ons minste probleem zou zijn.


Het is een vreemde zaak met de zon. De zonnevlekactiviteit is relatief laag en toch hebben we een zonnevlamuitbarsting achter de rug die je niet graag dagelijks wilt meemaken.

Op zaterdag 21 februari 2015 zagen we zo'n uitbarsting. 

Gelukkig vond deze uitbarsting plaats aan de achterkant van de zon, waardoor de aarde de resultaten van deze Killshot bespaard bleef.

Hij was zo krachtig dat wanneer de richting iets anders was geweest en onze kant was uitgegaan, wij nu waarschijnlijk bijvoorbeeld geen internet meer zouden hebben.

De naam Killshot is afkomstig van de remote vieuwer Ed Dames en betekent het volgende: Met de Killshot wordt bedoeld een zodanig krachtige zonnevlam, gericht naar de aarde, dat hierdoor grote delen of het gehele elektriciteitsnet zal uitvallen. 

We hebben de laatste jaren enkele keren geluk gehad dat zeer krachtige zonneuitbarstingen niet rechtstreeks gericht waren naar de aarde.

Die is natuurlijk al een keer eerder geraakt, zoals wij vorig jaar schreven:

De meest bekende gebeurtenis in deze categorie is het zogenaamde Carrington Event in 1859. Afgezien van de telegraaf waren er in die tijd weinig elektrische componenten om echt problemen te kunnen veroorzaken.

Als we vandaag de dag echter een dergelijk Carrington Event zouden meemaken dan zou dit een complete en totale nachtmerrie zijn. Een onderzoek door Lloyd’s of London heeft uitgewezen dat schade van 2.600.000.000.000 Dollar zou ontstaan aan de economie en dat er minsten tien jaar voor nodig zou zijn om van de gevolgen te herstellen.

Wetenschappers houden vol dat er weer een moment zal komen waarop we geraakt zullen worden door een dergelijke vlam van de zon. De enige vraag is wanneer.

Gisteren schreef iemand op een forum: Ga naar buiten, zet een glimlach op je gezicht en dank God op je blote knieën dat we niet terug geworpen zijn naar het stenen tijdperk.

The Isla De Lobos Case in Uruguay

This is a single witness sighting, and yet it has become the best case coming from Uruguay due to the in-depth investigation done by the members of C.I.O.V.I. research group.  The witness, Corporal Juan Fuentes saw a landed craft with three occupants at close range for time of about one minute.  He attempted to shoot at the occupants but was stopped from doing so.  The occupants entered the craft, and the craft rose up and flew away at high speed.

(a) The place.

Isla de Lobos is a small island a few miles off the Uruguayan coast, just where the River Plate meets the Atlantic Ocean. Its name means literally “island of the fur seals”, as these animals roam freely, and it is a lonely place where the only outstanding feature is the lighthouse.

The maintenance of this lighthouse is the responsibility of the Navy, and for that purpose a small garrison of 4 or 5 men is kept on the island. Their main task is to attend to the electric generators, as the actual operation of the beam is automatic. It is a routine and non-stressing job, and the tours of duty are 15 days in and 15 days out.

(b) The incident.

On the night of October 28, 1972, there were five men at the house which serves as headquarters for the Navy personnel: the witness, Corporal Juan Fuentes Figueroa; two enlisted men, Jose Gomez and Hector Gimenez; a telegraph operator, Jose Lima; and the sub-officer in charge, Francisco Cascudo. After dinner, the men sat around the table for a while, talking and playing cards, until at 10:10 PM it was time for Corporal Fuentes to inspect the generators, which are located at the base of the lighthouse proper.

The lighthouse is a 66-meter-high tower sitting at the center of a large building which contains the electric generators, the telegraph office and other dependencies. The top of this building is a flat terrace, which is about 6 meters above the adjacent terrain (Fig.1). The house where the garrison lives is at a distance of 45 meters from the lighthouse.

As soon as Cpt. Fuentes started to walk toward the lighthouse, he noticed on top of the terrace some lights that shouldn’t be there. In fact, he thought first of a car, a complete impossibility, and his reaction was to return to the house and procure a pistol that he had in his room. To do this, he didn’t have to pass through the kitchen where the other men were, so he didn’t speak to them. As will be discussed later, this behavior is typical of the personality of the witness.

Carrying the pistol, he went outside again and started walking decisively but not fast toward the lighthouse, meanwhile removing the safety from the gun and cocking it. As he advanced, he noted that the object had several lights: some white, some yellowish, and a third color that he describes as violet, as in the “rainbow”. Those lights were sufficient to allow him a good view, and he saw that a figure was next to the object and that a second was in the process of descending. A third and taller figure started to descend almost at once, but at the same moment, the initial two figures noticed Fuentes progressing toward them. They had what appeared to Fuentes as a moment of communication, and all three of them faced him.

By that time, Fuentes was at about 27 meters from the object, which, we will recall, was on the top of a 6-meter terrace. Hence, the object was above him, and he started to raise his extended arm to shoot. He was never to complete his motion, as the entities prevented him, from doing so. Fuente, a man of limited education, tried in vain to explain to the investigators how this was accomplished. It was not telepathy, and he felt some physical effects, like a “vibration” and his hair standing on end; but more than anything else it was like a premonition, in his words like: “Don’t shoot because it is useless”. At any rate, he felt paralyzed and confused, and was unable to shoot.

The action continued rather fast: the entities reentered their craft, the tallest one first. Although Fuentes did not see steps or a handrail, he could see quite well the motion of the figures against the lights of the object, outlined by the light coming out through the open door. He is certain that there were steps, as while the entities were climbing up with their backs toward the witness, their motions were like those of a person pulling himself up with handrails.

The door closed sideways, and the craft started to move straight up, emitting a humming sound until it reached about 45 meters, as judged by the adjacent lighthouse tower. It then tilted, belched a blinding fireball from the bottom, and disappeared in silence at a tremendous speed toward the southeast.

The witness returned to the house, where the other men noticed him white as a paper and still with a gun in hand. When he said that he had seen a flying saucer, he was not believed, except perhaps by Sub-Officer Cascudo.

Corporal Fuentes was rather upset that his equals and his immediate superiors were dubious of his story, and was planning when he returned to Montevideo to go to one of the leading newspapers and make his experience public. However, before this was accomplished, he was ordered to report to a higher ranking officer, who carefully listened to what Fuentes had to say. He then disappeared into an office in which two members of the personnel of the American Embassy had been waiting.

According to Fuentes, they were officers of the “Spatial Affair Service”, (sic) and their presence in the Command Offices was not unusual. Fuentes was left waiting in the corridor, and after a while someone came out and offered him some drawings for inspection and asked him to select the one closest to what hi has seen. He did so and was dismissed. He never talked directly to the Americans, but from the conversation overheard through the door, he concluded that they were surprised at the short distance of Fuente’s observation. And I am amazed at the continuous interest shown by American Embassies in collecting information about a phenomenon that we have been told many times does not exist...

(c) Craft and entities.

While the whole incident lasted about one minute, Corporal Fuentes had the object in direct view for more than about 15 seconds. It was well illuminated by its own lights, and it was fortuitous that the external lights usually illuminating the exterior of the installations were not in operation that night. If the floodlights had been on, they would have prevented a clear view by the witness, even blinding him at the location of the observation. As things turned out, he observed the entities in the background light of their own craft, and even if this prevented him from seeing facial details, for example, their outline and motions were quite evident.

When Corporal Fuentes started to walk toward the lighthouse, the first entity was already on the terrace, while the second was alighting from the craft. These two entities were about 1.50 m. (5 ft), while the third one, the last to descend, was 1.75-1.80 m. (6 ft). Thus, their heights were within the normal human limits (Fig. 2). Their silhouettes were dark, as if they were wearing heavy black rubber suits. The witness attributed their slow and deliberate motions to the weight of their suits, and thinks that his presence surprised the strangers at the beginning of an operation never to be completed. Their descent from the craft was done backwards, as if using a ladder not seen by the witness. Likewise, when they climbed back into the object, their motions were those of a person pulling himself up using handrails.

The most distinctive feature of the entities, clearly noticeable in the profile view that they offered to the witness, was the elongated shape of the back o their heads. It is not clear if this corresponds to the heads themselves, or it is was the result of some type of hood or garment.

The craft itself had the shape of an inverted bowl, with a diameter of between 4 and 5 meters. It had a dome on top and a rectangular aperture or door, used by the entities to descend (Fig. 3). It also had legs, which the witness saw clearly during the first stage of the departure. as the craft was slowly gaining altitude. Those legs did not fold like the landing gear of a plane, but retracted telescopically.

The surface of the craft was undoubtedly metallic, with a somewhat reddish color that Fuentes compared to mahogany. The most distinctive feature of the object was the antenna that topped it, shaped like a corkscrew and rotating.

The lights have already been described, and it only is necessary to add that they seemed to Fuentes like “little squares”, moving and flashing like “an advertising sign”.

(d) The witness.

This is a single witness sighting, and yet it has become the best case coming from Uruguay due to the in-depth investigation done by the members of C.I.O.V.I.. This paper is based on the information contained in their report on this case. (Ref.1).

The first stage of the investigation consisted of two lengthy interviews with the witness in his own home. The two interviews were recorded, and the transcripts do not reveal any discrepancies in the narrative.

This was followed by an “in situ” reconstruction of the events. with the participation of the witness. Sub-officer Cascudo, present on the island that night, verified that the initial version by Corporal Fuentes was similar to the subsequent descriptions relayed later to the investigating team. Sub-officer Cascudo, as well as other superiors of Corporal Fuentes, described him as a “simple and honest man, incapable of inventing a story of this nature”.

But indeed the most fascinating part of the CIOVI investigation was to request the assistance of a professional and to submit the witness to a battery of psychological tests that extended over a total of 9 hours, and that included, among others, Raven, Bender, Rorschach and PMK.

The result of those various tests dwell on positive and negative aspects of the personality of the witness, but when analyzed in the light of the narrative presented by Corporal Fuentes, they complement each other and tend to lend credibility to the story.

In what follows, the key elements of the psychological evaluation will be indicated with quotation marks, interspace with comments on how they relate to the particular facets of the case.

First of all, the witness is described as “sincere, uncomplicated and simple”. He expresses what for him is the truth, and he does that in a straighrforward manner, with no cultural burden distiring what he has to say.

The witness “has no tendency to fabrication or fantasy”, which if existing would damage his credibility. Moreover, he has “less that average intellectual capacity”, to which the psychologist adds that he “lacks an average imagination” and “has a remarkably poor knowledge of what is going on in the social environment”. All of these are pluses from the viewpoint of the credibility of the witness, and negate the possibility of him having created the whole story. And in fact, the investigators were able to determine that the ufological knowledge of the witness was practically non-existent.

From the emotional viewpoint, the witness is typified as “insecure, prompt to react anxiously and even aggressively” to an unexpected situation. That is exactly what the witness did when confronted with the impossible presence of a car on the terrace: his first reaction was to arm himself, although he could not explain later to the investigators what he intended to do with the gun. But he was following his training, and thus bolstered his confidence.

Another result of the psychological tests is that the witness has “a balanced psychic personality”, and it is “unlikely that he would confabulate by himself, unless an external event would upset him”. To summarize, his poor intellectual capacity and lack of imagination did not allow him to reason what was best to do when confronted with the unexpected, and instead of firing his gun or alerting his companions, he failed to do either, remaining paralyzed and confused. When he returned to the house, the other men noticed his trembling voice and his pale color, so there is no question that an external stimulus affected him deeply.

The conclusion, then, is that the psychology and personality of the witness are such that his reactions and behavior under the circumstances are totally compatible. Therefore, the probability that the witness is telling the truth is very great.

Of course, there is always an uncertainty about what percentage of the description of the witness corresponds to the physical reality of the object and the entities, but we can assert that in fact that Isla de Lobos is a remote place, moreover, a restricted area with difficult access, controlled by the Uruguayan Navy, and where no conventional explanations are viable, the inescapable conclusion is that this case is, using Dr. Maccabee’s coined word, a TRUFO.

        'Man finds tough sell for his "UFO discovery"'

REEDS SPRING, Mo. — Bob White is convinced his story deserves a grand stage, that his most prized possession should be displayed before a national audience. 

It should draw tourists from all over the country, he figures, and be a major attraction for people who want to see an artifact that White swears was retrieved from a UFO in 1985. 

Instead, White's find is in tiny Reeds Spring in southwestern Missouri, secured in a locked display case at Museum of the Unexplained, a converted video-rental store that, during a recent morning, went more than three hours without a customer. 

White can't figure it out. 

All he wants to do is find some believers. He wants people to quit snickering and looking at him as if he's crazy. He wants them to listen to his story, to take a hard look at his metallic artifact, to give him a chance. 

"This," White said, "is the most difficult thing I've ever done in my life." 

The odds are stacked against him. He and his partner at the museum, Robert Gibbons, have been rejected and ridiculed. White estimates he has spent more than $60,000 traveling to conferences, starting the museum, having the artifact tested and retested. 

And yet he forges on. 

"I'm 73 years old," White said. "I don't have much longer. 

"What I'd like to see before I'm gone is the national media get their heads out of their ... " White paused, choosing his words carefully, "out of the sand. I'd like to see the national media and everybody else realize that what I have is real." 

Scientists theorize that the "UFO" lights that White said he encountered could have been nothing more than a meteorite, that his artifact could be space debris. Some scientists who have tested the object said there was nothing extraterrestrial about it.

Ask White whether he believed in unidentified flying objects prior to 1985, and he scrunches up his nose. 

"Never," he said. "Not a bit. I was the biggest skeptic in the world." 

That all changed overnight. Here's how he remembers it: 

White and a friend were driving from Denver to Las Vegas on a desolate highway near the Colorado-Utah border. It was 2 or 3 a.m., he said, and White was sleeping in the passenger seat. At one point, his friend woke him up and pointed out a strange light in the distance. White didn't think much of it and went back to sleep. 

Then his friend woke him up again. This time, White said, the lights were blinding. 

He got out of the car and stared, dumbfounded. The object was about 100 yards in front of him, he said, "and it was huge ... absolutely huge." 

In time, he said, the lights bolted toward the sky and connected with a pair of neon, tubular lights — "the mother ship," White guesses now. And just like that, he said, the entire contraption zipped eastward through the Colorado sky and disappeared. 

"What I saw," White said, "was not of this Earth." 

As the craft flew away, White said, he noticed an orange light falling to the ground. A locator probe? Something that simply broke off? It was red hot when he reached it, he said, but in time it cooled enough to pick up. White shoved the object into the trunk of the car. 

The object is about 7-1/2 inches long and shaped like a teardrop. It has a coarse, metallic exterior and weighs less than 2 pounds. It looks a bit like it could be a petrified pine cone and is composed primarily of aluminum. 

White has had the item tested several times, hoping for some answers. 

The Nevada-based National Institute for Discovery Science in 1996 sent a sample of the object to the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. 

"The metallurgical analysis was pretty mundane," said Colm Kelleher, a scientist at the National Institute for Discovery Science. 

"We didn't find any evidence that it was extraterrestrial. Now you can make the argument that we didn't spend $1 million and look at every conceivable option. We didn't cover every base." 

Another scientist who tested it at a California laboratory — and who asked that his name and that of the laboratory not be used — said, "It didn't show any extraterrestrial signature." 

Sgt. Gary Carpenter, who works at the North American Aerospace Defense Command in Colorado Springs, Colo., said it was not uncommon for NORAD to get calls about strange lights and unidentified objects. Not once, he said, has the object been identified as an alien spacecraft. 

"Usually it turns out to be space debris from a satellite that's decaying, or it's in the realm of naturally occurring, celestial lights," he said. "It could be something like a falling star. It could be contrails, the things you would see trailing an aircraft." 

White opened the Museum of the Unexplained with visions of turning it into a destination. He wasn't looking to get rich — according to the Missouri secretary of state's office, the museum was registered as a nonprofit organization in August 2000 — but he hoped to spread the word about his experience. 

The museum, about 13 miles north of the glitzy Branson strip, might as well be in another world. There are no neon signs pointing the way, no twinkling lights outside the front door. Rather, it's sandwiched between the Humane Society thrift shop and the Sunrise Cafe on Main Street. 

It has struggled, unable to tap into the Branson spinoff crowd and secure a niche audience of its own. Only 2,800 people went through the doors that first year, when admission was free, and the museum hasn't been able to replicate those numbers since. 

These days, patrons age 12 and older pay $5 to stroll through about 2,000 square feet of space. Exhibits include a keyboard from the movie "Men in Black II" in which the shift key doesn't capitalize or decapitalize but translates from English to an alien language. Other exhibits are little more than newspaper articles or passages from the Internet affixed to the wall with thumb tacks. 

The focal point is White's artifact, and he takes no chances with its safety. Motion detectors, closed-circuit TV and window and door alarms protect it at all times. White packs it up in a gun case every day at 5 p.m., and the object never spends the night at the same place two nights in a row. You can never be too sure, he figures, even in a town with just 465 residents. 

"I'm happy for them that they're having a good time, but I guess I'm just not into that kind of thing," said Kacee Cashman, the Reeds Spring city clerk since 1998. "I really think they've been accepted, but everybody's kind of taking it with a grain of salt." 

Said White, "I don't know what I have to do to prove this is the truth. You can't make this stuff up."

UFO Crash-Lands In Canada: Government Cover-Up As We Speak

A flying saucer has allegedly crash-landed through the ice of Lake Winnipeg, in Manitoba, about 72 hours ago. The Canadian government is covering everything up.

The military is involved in the recovery of the alleged UFO and witnesses have been detained.

A complete blackout has been ordered by the government and some of the courageous people have been posting pictures and info online, but with their names blurred. Phone lines are also down.

In Manitboa, Canada on the Jackhead Reservation reports have been surfacing of a UFO crash landing into Lake Winnipeg.

Recently a call came into Thrid Phase of the Moon reporting this. The man went by the name of Mark. Here is part of the dialogue:

“Apparently a disc shaped craft was seen crashing through the ice on the lake, at least one person got photographic evidence but has since been detained by the Canadian military. UFO crash in rural Manitoba Canada: A UFO crash landed into a frozen lake within the last 24 hours on a Indian reservation in rural Manitoba. I have contact with a former resident of the reservation and their family still lives on the reservation and informed them about the situation this evening.

I have also been informed that nobody is allowed to leave or enter the reservation at this time and that the military has been going door to door talking with residents. They are telling the residents that they are conducting emergency training exercises, but there has been an extreme cold front in Manitoba over the last 2 days and it is extremely dangerous to spend time outdoors for any period.

The military has moved in all their equipment effectively blocking any view of what may have crashed into the water or what they are doing there, but I’m sure they are recovering the evidence.

I will get back in touch with in a few hours, I was told the name of the reservation but it was very long and hard to pronounce, I will get the exact spelling of the reservation in a few hours when I meet with my contact and I will forward any new information over.” Mark

But that’s not all! Reports were also coming in on Facebook, a man by the name of Brent Mancheese linked CNN stating:

• “UFO crash reported on the Jackhead reserve in Manitoba, Canada apparently the Canadian Military have vehicles lined up on north Shore… they are threatening anybody who tries to take pics… lots of eye witnesses… Thur is round object being hauled across the lake being pulled by snow mobiles and bombardier.”

Despite the outcry from citizens in the area about the crashed UFO and reports of military forces using snowmobiles to drag away a large disc, the Canadian Forces are claiming this is all just one big military training exercise training search and rescue how to deal with a plan crash in the Arctic.

According to Lt.-Col. Paul Davies, commanding officer of 38 Territorial Battalion Group in Canada, who was reportedly involved in the Arctic Response Company Group training exercise on Lake Winnipeg, stated this to CBC News:

“There’s no aliens, just my friends in the air force who are out there helping us on this exercise…I have the commander of that air force contingent sitting right beside me and, you know, he assures us that that was not a UFO, but that was him.”

The trouble with this statement is the Canadian Forces are refusing to show the supposed “Military craft” to the public. If this is a training exercise why not display the craft to stop the talk about it being a UFO?

Fox Likely To Re-Visit The X-Files

The possibility of Fox rebooting The X-Files may have been ignored a few years ago. But in today’s scenario and if Fox executives are all game, then the possibility is believable.

Few days ago, Fox declared that they were in the logistical point of rebooting the series. In this connection, they were checking if they could bring back all original players. Without Mulder and Scully, Fox said they’re not doing The X-Files.

But the big drive for the revival of The X-Files did not come from Fox or its creator Chris Carter. Gillian “Scully” Anderson did the big push. Earlier in February 2015, Anderson said that she would be more than happy to make more episodes of the show that contributed much to her career. Anderson is currently part of The Fall. Hosts Chris Hardwick and Matt Mira as well as Anderson encouraged listeners on The Nerdist podcast to tweet the #XFiles2015, and they’ve got an overwhelming response.

The Internet once again wielded its power by bringing the sentiment of people to bring back the 20-year-old television series from the dead. In 2014, leaked test footage from a proposed Deadpool movie circulated on the internet and many believe that it was a ploy on behalf of the creator of the film to generate online buzz necessary for bringing the project back to life. Those responsible for the trick have succeeded due to overwhelming support online. The film will debut in 2016, starring Ryan Reynolds.

With the internet’s very strong support and both Anderson and Duchovny on board, the only stumbling block to bringing back X-Files is Chris Cater. Though Fox says that Carter has interest, it also confirms that he “has a lot going on.” Fox notes that it will not go on without Carter. But there’s a little chance that Carter would turn down the overwhelming enthusiasm from cast members and fans.

Hello Sir. I was directed to you by a forum contributor who reads your website. I work as a night security officer at a warehouse in Plainfield, Indiana. The building is located about a mile west of the Indianapolis International Airport on Reeves Rd.

At the time of the incident I was working with another security officer.  Over the past year or so I and others have noticed many strange lights in the sky at night. Actually some of of these lights were distinctive V-shaped, but most were circular. On the night of February 1st (around 10:30 pm) there was an array of bright red lights traveling over the airport heading west over Plainfield. I tried to get photos but the light pollution from the airport and business park were too heavy. I counted 34 red lights traveling back to back and moving very slow but in a straight line. The other security officer witnessed the same lights.   I reported what I saw to a friend in Cincinnati who in interested in UFOs. He said that he would file a report with a UFO group. This was the next day (February 2nd). He told me that he received a similar report from another witness in Indianapolis.  

On February 8th early Sunday morning (1:15 am or so) the security guard at the gate called me on his radio. He said that someone wanted to talk to me. This was very unusual because people rarely drive up to the gate that late and no one has ever asked for me. I was in the back lot so it took me a while to reach the front, even by vehicle. While making my way to the gatehouse, the security guard called me again. He sounded frantic and asked me to hurry.  When I reached the gatehouse, there was a black Chevrolet Impala parked at the gate and two people standing by the gatehouse door. I parked my truck and walked over to the gatehouse. The first thing I noticed was how tall these individuals were and that they were dressed the same. They both wore black attire, which were slacks, heavy bomber jackets and leather gloves. They also had beret-like hats with sunglasses, even though it was dark. There was no insignia or lettering on the vehicle, though it had Ohio license plates.  One of the men asked me if I had witnessed anything unusual in the sky above the airport. I mentioned what we had seen on February 1st and that there had been a lot of different lights seen the past year or so. He said he wasn’t interested in the other sightings, just what was seen over the airport. Then he wanted to know if I told anyone else.

By that time I was a bit perturbed and asked who they were. They both smiled, then the guy apologized for taking up my time. They got back into their car and backed out. That kind of freaked me out because I have no idea who these guys were.  I have heard some stories about Men in Black from my friend, but these guys looked normal, other than the weird garb. A few nights ago, I swear I saw the same vehicle in my neighborhood in Indianapolis. It was parked down the street from my house then pulled off as I passed it on my way to work.  At this point I don’t know what to think. I’m not scared but curious as to what they think I witnessed. Incidentally, the other security guard who witnessed the lights did not receive a visit from these guys. My report must have sparked something, though I don’t think my friend used my name or specific location.  I wonder if these were MIB and why they showed so much interest in my sighting. “At Least 4 Known Alien Species Have Been Visiting Earth For Thousands Of Years” X Canadian Defence Minister Continues To Blow The Whistle

I am well aware that just because somebody (no matter what their ‘position’) says something to be true, does not mean it’s true. Exceptions, however can be made if there is evidence that goes beyond their words and correlates with what they say. At the end of the day, you have to listen to what your heart tells you.

Paul Hellyer was the Canadian Minister of National Defense in the 1960’s during the cold war. He was responsible for combining the Canadian Air Force, Navy and Army into what is known today as the Canadian Forces. He was the highest ranking person (on paper) inside of the Department of Defence for Canada. The Honorable Paul Hellyer  is the highest ranking person among all g8 countries to openly speak about UFOs and extraterrestrials.

He has been speaking about UFOs and extraterrestrials for quite some time now, and he recently made an appearance on RT news stating that there are at least 4 known alien species that have been visiting Earth for thousands of years.

Upon retirement, Hellyer began to blow the whistle on UFOs and extraterrestrials. His testimony is backed up by hundreds of other high ranking military and political personnel all over the world, including official documents released by dozens of governments worldwide that have officially acknowledged the presence of UFOs.

I think it’s also important to point out that the Canadian government recently acknowledged the fact that various federal agencies, including Transport Canada, the RCMP and the Department of National Defence used to track and investigate UFO sightings. (1) They claim to have stopped those programs, but that contradicts the defence minister’s (Hellyer) claims. There is good reason to believe, and a lot of evidence to suggest that some of these UFOs are indeed extraterrestrial space craft (not all military), and the activities of the agencies responsible for these programs goes far beyond just tracking of UFOs, but into contact with various extraterrestrial races, other classified technological developments and more.

It was the tweet heard round the worlds. On John Podesta's last day at the White House on February 13th, the longtime Presidential counselor, who is likely to chair a 2016 Hillary Clinton campaign, dashed off a confession that lit the blogosphere with thousands of retweets and comments: "Finally, my biggest failure of 2014: Once again not securing the #disclosure of the UFO files."

Along with the media, which couldn't resist a spoof by late-night comedian Jimmy Fallon, conspiracy theorists are having a field day. Taking Podesta's barb as confirmation of fantastic coverups by operatives with knowledge of extraterrestrials and twisted political agendas, they imagine Podesta himself holds devastating secrets. Some are claiming with bravado that their own activism is what prompted his recent lighthearted remark.

The facts hardly bear that out.

Actually, as surprising as the tweet was, Podesta's position on the controversial issue was not exactly news.  A staunch proponent of open government, he has previously called for the release of any government files on unidentified flying objects, or more broadly, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), that merit such action under existing law.  As Chief of Staff for President Bill Clinton, Podesta pressed for Executive Order 12958 which declassified broad categories of information formerly withheld on the grounds of national security. 

In 2002, Podesta began publicly supporting what became a landmark Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit filed by the Coalition for Freedom of Information, an independent advocacy group.  NASA had been stonewalling and refusing to release its records concerning a significant 1965 UFO incident in Kecksburg, PA. Many witnesses described seeing a fireball in the evening sky, followed by a controlled landing and the systematic military recovery of a spacecraft-like object, rushed away on the back of a flatbed truck.  As reported by local radio and newspapers, U.S. military personnel cordoned off the area, investigated the site, and left without ever providing a full report of the incident other than to dismiss it as a meteor.

During the lawsuit's final hearing in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in 2007, the exasperated Presiding Judge, Emmet G. Sullivan, declared that "heads should roll" at NASA and that  NASA's case was a "ball of yarn."  He approved a settlement that required NASA to comb through hundreds of documents in specified locations, and provide them to journalist and plaintiff Leslie Kean, under the watchful eye of the court.

Success at forcing an agency to do this kind of extensive historical search under FOIA without Congressional intervention was unprecedented. Podesta called the victory "a triumph for open government and the spirit of inquiry."

But - there was one problem. The resulting documents did not include one iota of information relating to the Kecksburg case, despite an earnest and thorough effort  by NASA staff. Three hundred boxes were searched, on top of the hundreds of pages released during the court proceedings prior to the settlement. Yet they revealed nothing about the case at hand.

Could these be the "UFO files" that Podesta was alluding to in his tweet? Might there be others as well, stored in locations inaccessible to the FOIA in violation of the law?

Podesta has been a brave voice for sanity and objectivity on a subject that is generally considered unworthy of serious discussion. In a foreword for Kean's 2010 book, UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go On the Record, Podesta wrote: "The time to pull the curtain back on this subject is long overdue." Describing himself as "a curious skeptic" who understands the difference between fact and fiction, he said the American people "want to know, and they can handle the truth."

Official investigations around the world have consistently found that a small but significant percentage of sightings defy conventional explanation, most of them  involving police officers, military personnel, pilots and air traffic controllers. Physical evidence such as radar returns, measurable effects on the environment, or scientifically analyzed photographs accompany the best cases.

In 2011, Podesta hosted a private meeting of government officials, scientists, and military and intelligence experts, organized by Kean and her coalition, at his liberal think tank, the Center for American Progress. A panel presented expert briefings backing the establishment of a modest official project to evaluate UAP in cooperation with other countries.

"The official position of the U.S., which has denied the existence of any abnormal aerial phenomena since 1969, is a weighty handicap and has a negative influence on the attitude of many governments," wrote Yves Sillard, former Director General of the French National Space Center, in his briefing paper.  "If this position could be modified, the U.S. would probably play a leading role in this necessary international effort."

Ricardo Bermúdez, a retired Air Force general who directs the Chilean investigative effort, agrees. "United States participation would be beneficial for all countries," he stated.

A U.S. agency is long overdue. The Air Force's official investigation, Project Blue Book, was terminated in 1970 after two decades, since no sightings were determined to pose a national security threat. Yet over 700 cases remained unexplained. Since then, no branch of the government has investigated UAP.

This lack of both transparency and responsive action to alarming UFO incidents undermines public trust. Some unidentified objects may be attributable to foreign military aircraft or drones, and should be of general defense interest.  Other phenomena display such unusual characteristics that they are of broader scientific interest. Under certain circumstances, UAP can even raise air safety concerns. Still, the FAA discourages pilots from reporting any such incidents, in stark contrast to policy in Europe and South America.

Official agencies in France and Chile, along with other South American countries,  conduct rigorous, open UAP investigations.  In 2014, the heads of these offices met in Paris for the first time, to begin a cooperative venture. The U.K. spent decades collecting data, but closed down its office in 2008 due to the overwhelming stream of Freedom of Information requests besieging the staff. Interest was so great that the Ministry of Defense decided to simply release all its documents online.

Yet here at home, a 2012 poll showed that nearly 80% of Americans believe the government has concealed information about UFOs.  As a result, frustrated citizens turn to fringe conspiracists seeking some way of understanding our irrational denial of this very real phenomenon. 

When UFO events occur here, civilian groups do the best they can in battling the obstacles to investigating them.  At Chicago's O'Hare International Airport on Nov. 7, 2006, a metallic disc was observed hovering over the United Airlines terminal for at least five minutes, before shooting straight up in the sky, at great speed, cutting a hole in the cloud bank. This was not a flying machine known to any of the aviation experts who witnessed or later analyzed the event.

On March 13, 1997, hundreds if not thousands of citizens, including the governor at the time, saw massive delta-shaped objects gliding silently over Arizona. Like the Kecksburg case, this event has never been explained despite a class action lawsuit filed in 2000 by witnesses in Phoenix. A court-ordered search for information was issued to the Department of Defense, but once again, no pertinent records were obtained.

Nonetheless, much more data on UFOs has been accumulated than ever before, and files have been released around the world. The phenomenon's physical reality is now firmly established. But its nature and origin remain a problem. Meanwhile, astronomers have reported that there could be as many as 40 billion habitable Earth-size planets in our galaxy; one out of every five sunlike stars has a planet the size of Earth orbiting it in the Goldilocks zone.

We need to join the other countries taking responsible action in addressing this persistent mystery, preferably at the White House level where The Office of Science and Technology Policy is well positioned to take on this task.  John Podesta supports the effort to appoint a government staffer for this purpose - and that is no surprise.

Houston, TX - 10/9/2014: While walking from my apartment to parking lot, on clear night I looked south toward the airport I'm retired but still love aircraft, so I always scan the skies. Off in the distance to the south I observed a bright royal blue light just above the horizon. Me being in aviation for 43 years with a FAA A&P certification I knew this was NOT a aircraft. As I watched I got my cell phone out and took a couple of photos and 2 videos (video not very good). I watched with experienced eyes for the details that differs a aircraft from a unknown object. The object slowly moved from south to north increasing in size as it come closer. At about 2 miles it made a 90 degree horizontal turn to the East, a exact angle of 90 degree turn, no sweep turn and no loss of altitude. Traveled about a mile then turned a 180 degree turn and continued heading west about 2 miles made another 90 deg. turn to the south and shortly turned again East for a few seconds then turned south until it disappeared over the horizon. It was moving in the same airspace as several aircraft on departure from Bush Intercontinental Airport. This object had NO aircraft resemblances. This was my first UFO in over 43 years working and flying on all types of aircraft. During the video my cell phone completely turned off and I had to restart it to continue. - MUFON CMS

Russian Meteor's Origin Remains Mysterious 2 Years Later

Two years after an asteroid exploded over Russia and injured more than 1,200 people, the origin of the space rock still puzzles scientists.

The 66-foot-wide (20 meters) asteroid broke up over the city of Chelyabinsk, Russia, on Feb. 15, 2013, shattering windows across the area and sending many people to the hospital with lacerations from the flying glass.

"These two bodies shared similar orbits around the sun, and initial studies suggested even similar compositions," lead study author Vishnu Reddy, a scientist with the nonprofit Planetary Science Institute in Tucson, Arizona, said in a statement.

However, "the composition of [the] Chelyabinsk meteorite that was recovered after the event is similar to a common type of meteorite called LL chondrites," he added. "The near-Earth asteroid has a composition that is distinctly different from this."

More generally, Reddy and his colleagues' work showed that it is difficult to make predictions about what particular asteroid could have shed pieces that slammed into Earth. Because most asteroids are so small and their orbits are "chaotic," it's hard to make a firm link, the authors said.

A paper based on the research appears in the journal Icarus.

The Russian meteor explosion has generated a great deal of interest in the search for potentially hazardous asteroids, sparking the creation of a new asteroid warning center at the European Space Agency, among other initiatives.

In a statement this week, the B612 Foundation, a nonprofit organization that seeks to reduce the threat from asteroids, urged agencies worldwide to step up their search for dangerous space rocks. The group plans to add to that effort with the asteroid-hunting Sentinel Space Telescope, which B612 hopes to launch in 2018.

"The fact of the matter is that asteroid impacts can be prevented using technology we can employ right now," B612 co-founder Ed Lu, a former space shuttle astronaut, said in a statement.

"And unlike other potentially global-scale catastrophic events, the solution is nearly purely a technical one, and with a relatively small and known cost," Lu added. "So as my friend, former Apollo 9 astronaut and co-founder of the B612 Foundation Rusty Schweickart says, 'Let’s get on with it.'" - Space

Canadian MP blamed too-tight underpants for exit from parliament

A Canadian MP blamed his too-tight underpants for leaving parliament in a hurry on Thursday morning. His cut-price and, as it turned out, overly tight underpants made it difficult for him to sit through a one-by-one vote, MP Pat Martin explained. The Winnipeg Centre New Democratic Party representative had voted on a procedural motion to adjourn debate, then left his seat for a moment.

When Conservative MP Royal Galipeau asked deputy speaker Joe Comartin if a vote still counts if an MP leaves while it's being counted, Martin stood up to offer his explanation. "I can blame it on a sale that was down at the Hudson's Bay [Company] – they had men's underwear on for half price. I bought a bunch that was clearly too small for me and I find it difficult to sit for any length of time," he said.

"I apologize if it was necessary for me to leave my seat briefly, but I did not mean to forfeit my right to vote." After a mix of cheers, applause and laughter from the benches, Comartin was forced to rule on whether Martin's vote would count. "Let me try to deal with this with at least some seriousness, we all understand that we have to be in our seats at the time the motion is read ... the member for Winnipeg Centre was in his seat at that time.

"He did step out of his chair for a very short time and was directed by me to sit down again," Comartin said. "I didn't understand the explanation at the time, that he subsequently gave … can't say I really understand it at this point." Comartin then said that since Martin was in his seat when the vote was read and also when he voted that his vote was able to stand. - CBC

Hawking: Space Travel Could Save Mankind

We should colonise other planets to protect the human race, Stephen Hawking has said. Human aggression could bring civilisation and humanity to an end and space travel will give us somewhere else to go, he said.

Space represents the long term future of the human race and can act as “life insurance” for the species, Hawking said while escorting an American visitor around London’s Science Museum for a prize.

"Sending humans to the moon changed the future of the human race in ways that we don't yet understand," he said.

"It hasn't solved any of our immediate problems on planet Earth, but it has given us new perspectives on them and caused us to look both outward and inward.

"I believe that the long term future of the human race must be space and that it represents an important life insurance for our future survival, as it could prevent the disappearance of humanity by colonising other planets."

Hawking made the comments after telling his guest, Adaeze Uyanwah, that the human failing he would most like to correct is aggression, which could “destroy us all”. Uyanwah was in London after winning a competition to get her perfect day out in the capital.

Human aggression could bring a nuclear war that would end civilisation and perhaps the uman race, he said. Instead, humans should have more empathy, to bring “us together in a peaceful, loving state.

5 Important Things From History That No One Can Explain

February 22, 2015 - As modern humans with constant access to every piece of information that has ever been known, we like to think we're pretty smart. Surely, in these times of carbon dating, digital reconstruction, and computerized archiving, we've learned everything there is to know about our primitive ancestors. Well, you might be surprised -- there are still several major events in history that today's scientists, after years of extensive research, know precisely dick about.

#5.  We Don't Know What the Ancient Egyptians Actually Looked Like

Thanks to a pop culture obsession with ancient Egypt extending at least as far back in history as the early '90s (when Sam Beckett fought a mummy on that one episode of Quantum Leap), we know just about everything there is to know about the people of the ancient Nile. We've decoded their language, we know what gods they worshipped, we know the history of their whole civilization, and we pretty much know the first name of every ceremonially wrapped mummy we've ever torn out of a sarcophagus in the name of discovery.

The only thing we don't know is who they were.

That is, we have no idea what race they were, or what they actually looked like. Mummies of any screed tend to revert to a racially homogenous shade of dirt brown after a few thousand years baking in the desert heat.

And it's hard to get a good look at them when they're chasing you and your talking dog through an abandoned mine and/or carnival.

Most people probably imagine the ancient Egyptians as being vaguely Middle Eastern in appearance, because that's how they're portrayed in the movies (you know, when they aren't being played by straight-up white dudes). However, that's just how they've looked since the Persian conquest of Egypt ... which was thousands of years after the people who actually built the pyramids died. Before that, it's anyone's guess.

You see, in the mid-1800s (when Egypt-mania really took off in the Western world), white people who marveled at these giant ancient constructs applied their strongest racist science and assumed the Egyptians were pasty Aryan Europeans, specifically because only white people could have the technical ability to build the pyramids. Others theorized that they were black, due to the fact that Egypt is, you know, in Africa.

A fringe theory suggests that they came to Egypt from a distant land known as "Las Vegas," but records there are scant.

"But what about the thousands of ancient Egyptian paintings we've found?" you might be thinking. "Surely we can look at those and know the skin tone of the mighty Pharaohs!" Well, if you were thinking that, you're wrong again. Egyptian paintings were heavily stylized, with men often portrayed as red and women as bright yellow, which, discounting severe sunburn and/or jaundice, aren't really shades that human beings come in.

Although this does support the "space aliens" theory.

Greek sources refer to the Egyptians as being "dark-skinned" and "curly-haired," which is sort of helpful in the sense that it lets us know that they probably didn't look like Jackie Chan, but otherwise could mean they were anything from black to Semitic to Italian.

The closest thing that science has to a conclusion is that the Egyptians probably emerged from northern Africa, which, as you may have noticed, is where Egypt is located. So we've got a rough idea, but only in the sense that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Arnold Vosloo are equally believable as ancient Egyptian princes.

#4.  There Are Giant Stone Heads in Central America, and We Have No Idea How They Got There

People were surprisingly good at moving giant stones around in ancient times, mostly because living in the Stone Age gave you little other choice. And despite the History Channel's dogged insistence that Stonehenge and the Great Pyramid could only have been built by extraterrestrials, the truth is that science actually has some pretty good ideas about how regular human beings were able to put those awe-inspiring structures together.

But then there are the Olmec colossal heads, and we're not talking about the magical storytelling dome on Legends of the Hidden Temple.

That's one of the giant stone heads carved by the Olmec civilization in Central America, and archaeologists don't know what the hell their deal is.

The Olmecs are thought to be the oldest civilization in the Americas, predating the better-known trinity of the Incas, the Mayas, and the Aztecs by hundreds of years. Daily life in the Olmec civilization was presumably pretty boring, as they came to the same conclusion as the folks half a world away on Easter Island did and decided that they might as well dedicate all of their idle time to carving giant stone heads.

Cutting a person's face into a giant piece of rock isn't exactly beyond the realm of possibility, but check this out -- the Olmec heads are carved from volcanic basalt, which was located 80 miles from where the Olmec ultimately settled. Each head weighs close to 20 tons, and the Olmecs never got around to inventing the wheel. So the question is, how in the hell did they get those immense rocks through 80 miles of sweltering, hostile jungle?

Before you say "Well, obviously the same way the Egyptians did it," consider this -- dragging slabs of impossible weight across a desert is an entirely different word problem than figuring out how to carry a bunch of stones each weighing approximately the same amount as Optimus Prime across 80 miles of dense foliage, spiders, snakes, and the occasional 150-foot plateau. The same techniques just wouldn't work.

They didn't so much colonize as say, "Fuck it, we're far enough. We live here now."

Modern science still doesn't know how or why the Olmecs dedicated such a huge amount of effort into dragging these massive heads through such impassable terrain, outside of maybe some ancient, oversized game of long-distance bowling.

#3.  There Is a Huge Network of Mysterious, Man-Made Caves in China

In 1992, a uniquely curious man in the Chinese village of Longyou pooled his money with his neighbors to buy a water pump and began siphoning out the pond in his village, only to eventually discover that it wasn't really a pond at all, but the flooded entrance to an ancient, man-made cave. Upon investigation, it turned out that, rather than the entrance to Chinese Batman's secret lair, this cave was one in a network of 36 hidden chambers in the area, all dating back to the early Han dynasty, about 2,000 years ago.

So we can't rule out ancient Chinese Batman.

We'd like to tell you more about them, but the modern world's knowledge of the subterranean caves of Chinese mystery begins and ends with that single fact. We literally know nothing else about them.

There are no documents whatsoever, at least none that have been discovered, that record the construction or purpose of the Longyou Caves, although the excavation would have been an immense, government-contracted project involving the movement of 900,000 cubic meters of rock. This is especially odd considering the ancient Chinese were meticulous record-keepers. That's one of the reasons why the Great Wall is about as much of a mystery as the Chrysler Building -- there are documents telling us exactly who built it and for what purpose. However, nothing like that exists for the three dozen caves buried beneath the area on the outskirts of Shanghai. For all we know, a wizard put them there one year to heighten the suspense of an Easter egg hunt.

Although we're starting to lean towards "predator hunting ground."

We know that they're not natural formations, because the interior of the caves are covered in chisel marks, and it contains stairs, support columns, and paintings, which generally aren't the result of tectonic shifts. But for whatever reason, this huge and very expensive project had been kept top secret until its accidental rediscovery in the early-1990s. They could be a clandestine series of burial chambers for an elite Chinese family, or they could be strategically placed man caves dug for the wealthiest man in Shanghai to hide from his family and play the ancient Chinese equivalent of NFL Blitz. There is precisely the same amount of evidence to support either scenario.

NASA is Preparing the World for Extraterrestrial Contact

A couple of months ago top US astronomers gathered in front of congress to let them know that extraterrestrial life exists without question.

Their main argument was the size of the universe, emphasizing that there are trillions of stars out there, with one in every five most likely harboring an Earth-like planet.

It’s also important to keep in mind that planets do not have to be “Earth-like” in order to harbor life.

This time, NASA and the Library of Congress have teamed up bringing together scientists, theologians, philosophers and historians from around the globe for a two day symposium in order to discuss how to prepare the world for extraterrestrial contact, whether it be microbial organisms or intelligent beings.

“We’re looking at all scenarios about finding life. If you find microbes, that’s one thing. If you find intelligence, it’s another. And if they communicate, it’s something else, and depending on what they say, it’s something else!

“The idea is not to wait until we make a discovery, but to try and prepare the public for what the implications might be when such a discovery is made. I think the reason that NASA is backing this is because of all the recent activity in the discovery of exoplanets and the advances in astrobiology in general.

“People just consider it much more likely now that we’re going to find something — probably microbes first and maybe intelligence later. The driving force behind this is from a scientific point of view that it seems much more likely now that we are going to find life at some point in the future.” – Astronomer, symposium organizer and former chief NASA historian, Steven J. One of the theologians present was Brother Guy Consolmagno, who is the new president of the Vatican Observatory Foundation. This is what he had to say:

“I Believe [alien life exists], but I have no evidence. I would be really excited and it would make my understanding of my religion deeper and richer in ways that I can’t even predict yet, which is why it would be so exciting.” (source)

He is urging the public not to be so surprised when extraterrestrial life is discovered, because it will be discovered. He even said that he would be happy to baptize them, if it’s intelligent extraterrestrial life that’s discovered. The Vatican has been very open to the idea of intelligent extraterrestrial life, and they’ve expressed these views for a very long time.

Earth is not the center of the universe, it’s not flat, and it’s looking very likely that the next major paradigm shifting revelation will be the fact that we are not alone in the universe.

It’s great to see the mainstream world gather, discuss and prepare for this possibility and ultimate reality, and it’s a great seg-way to create more awareness about the world of secrecy, the world’s within our world that deal with projects the human race knows nothing about.

The Other Probability – Intelligent Extraterrestrial Life is Already Here

All of the information I’ve provided below is probably old information for CE fans that regularly visit our site. This information is from a previous article I wrote earlier in the year, I thought it would be fitting to cut and paste it here for our new readers. There are multiple reasons why the extraterrestrial question continues to gain popularity. People are starting to ask questions about the world around them, utilizing critical thinking and investigation. After thoroughly investigating this topic your conclusions will be similar to the conclusions of the majority, we are not alone, and we are being visited.

1. The Size of the Universe

How often do you look up into the night sky and wonder just how many stars, planets, galaxies and more are out there? Space has been a high area of interest that has always fascinated scientists, philosophers, musicians and pretty much just about everyone.

What is it about deep space that grabs our attention so much? To think about just how big the universe is can really put things into perspective.

Counting the stars in the universe  is like trying to count the number of sand grains on a beach, not possible.

Although estimates vary among different experts, the general consensus is that there are at least between 100 billion and 200 billion galaxies in our universe. Think about that for a moment, and now throw in billions of stars in each galaxy! (source) This number could very easily be in the trillions for all we know.

Take the Milky Way Galaxy for example, which measures to about 120,000 light years across (it would take light that many years to travel across the galaxy), and contains up to 400 billion stars. Again, that’s billions of galaxies that contain billions of stars. (source)

Scientists estimate that at least 10 billion habitable Earth-sized planets exist in the milky way alone ( one galaxy out of billions), but it’s important to keep an open mind as to what type of conditions and environments some unknown extraterrestrial like forms could thrive in. They all don’t necessarily have to be Earth-like.

Given our estimation of the size of the universe, or multiverse (whatever you want to call it), odds are we are not alone.

2. Whistle Blowers

The past few years have seen a surge of whistle-blowers that’ve come out and said some remarkable things. Bradley Manning, Edward Snowden and Julian Assange have received the most attention, but the reality is that there are hundreds of whistle blowers who have come forward with verified credentials and backgrounds.

Mass survelience and the security state is not the only thing shocking people around the world, it’s the fact that many of these whistle blowers claim that we are not alone in the universe. It wouldn’t be so hard to ignore if it wasn’t for the backgrounds these people have in their respected fields.

The first one that comes to mind is Paul Hellyer, Former Canadian Defence Minister, the man responsible for unifying the Canadian Air Force, Army and the Navy into one united force now known as the Canadian Forces.

For someone with such a background to come out and make these extraordinary claims definitely grabbed the attention of many people.

“Decades ago, visitors from other planets warned us about the direction we were heading and offered to help. Instead, some of us interpreted their visits as a threat, and decided to shoot first and ask questions after. Trillions of dollars have been spent on black projects which both congress and the commander in chief have deliberately been kept in the dark.” (source)

”In one of the cases during the cold war, 1961, there were about 50 UFOs in formation flying South from Russia across Europe. The supreme allied commander was very concerned and was about ready to press the panic button when they turned around and went back over the North Pole. They decided to do an investigation and they investigated for three years and they decided that with absolute certainty that four different species, at least, have been visiting this planet for thousands of years. There’s been a lot more activity in the past two decades, especially since we invented the atomic bomb.” (source)

Paul Hellyer isn’t the only one making extraordinary statements, at least a dozen NASA astronauts have done the same. Just like Dr. Edgar Mitchell’s quote, other astronauts have said some remarkable things. Let’s take a look at a few (out of many) examples.

“There is abundant evidence that we are being contacted, that civilizations have been monitoring us for a very long time. That their appearance is bizarre from any type of traditional materialistic western point of view. That these visitors use the technologies of consciousness, they use toroids, they use co-rotating magnetic disks for their propulsion systems, that seems to be a common denominator of the UFO phenomenon” (source) – Dr. Brian O’leary, Former NASA Astronaut and Princeton Physics Professor

“In my opinion I think they were worried that it would panic the public so they started telling lies about it. And then I think they had to tell another lie to cover their first lie, now they don’t know how to get out of it. Now it’s going to be so embarrassing to admit that all these administrations have told so many untruths, it would be embarrassing getting out of it. There are a number of extraterrestrial vehicles out there cruising around.” (source) – Gordon Cooper, Former NASA Astronaut, Aeronautical Engineer and test pilot. The list goes on and on, the latest in NASA Astronaut statements about UFOs came from the 2005 International Space Station (ISS) Commander, Leroy Chiao. You can read more about that HERE.

Here is a video of John Podesta who was recently appointed as councilor to Barack Obama supporting UFO disclosure.

Some of the most extraordinary statements about UFOs and extraterrestrials come from persons who have held some of the highest positions known. Those who would be in a position to ‘know’ about possible extraterrestrial encounters.

“Everything is in a process of investigation both in the United States and in Spain, as well as the rest of the world. The nations of the world are currently working together in the investigation of the UFO phenomenon. There is an international exchange of data.” – General Carlos Castro Cavero (1979). The list of military whistle blowers is huge, there are hundreds of them and hundreds of quotes to choose from. The list of quotes from all fields, from many people is outstanding. I could literally fill pages upon pages so I’ll stop here, I think you get the picture. These quotes by whistleblowers and people with prestigious backgrounds leads perfectly into the next point as to why almost everybody knows that we are not alone in the universe.

“There is another way whether it’s wormholes or warping space, there’s got to be a way to generate energy so that you can pull it out of the vacuum, and the fact that they’re here shows us that they found a way.” (source) - Jack Kasher, Ph.D, Professor Emeritus of Physics, University of Nebraska

In this clip, it seems he (Dr. Jack Kasher)  is referring to FREE ENERGY.

“This thing has gotten so highly-classified…it is just impossible to get anything on it. I have no idea who controls the flow of need-to-know because, frankly, I was told in such an emphatic way that it was none of my business that I’ve never tried to make it to be my business since. I have been interested in this subject for a long time and I do know that whatever the Air Force has on the subject is going to remain highly classified” – Senator Barry Goldwater , Chairman of the Senate intelligence committee (source)

3. The Evidence of UFOs

Within the past few years, dozens of governments admitted to allocating resources and having programs to study the UFO phenomenon. For instance, in Canada the RCMP, Transport Canada, and the Department of National Defence recently admitted to tracking UFOs and investigating them. (source)

They’ve been doing it for years, accumulating thousands upon thousands of UFO related documents. Many of these documents have since been officially released.

HERE is the latest batch of UFO files released from the United Kingdom.

Documents released by the National Security Agency (NSA) reveal what is recorded when a UFO is being tracked on radar. HERE is one example. HERE is a four page U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency and NSA report describing a particular encounter in great detail.

• “As the F-4 approached a range of 25 nautical miles it lost all instrumentation and communications. When the F-4 turned away from the object and apparently was no longer a threat to it, the aircraft regained all instrumentation and communications. Another brightly lighted object came out of the original object. The second object headed straight toward the F4. ”

4. Mass Mainstream Media Attention

Media outlets of all kind are covering the topic, almost every movie that comes out these days has something to do with space or some kind of extraterrestrial intelligence. We’ve been bombarded with the topic for a while now so it’s not hard to see how it’s on the minds of many.

The most recent case of mainstream extraterrestrial ‘noise’ was made when scientists recently spoke to the house Committee on Science, Space and Technology. Dan Werthimer of the SETI Research Centre at the University of California, Berkeley, recently called for more funding to be allocated to the search for extraterrestrial life since he is “close to 100 percent” certain that we are not alone. In mid 2013, the same committee held a hearing about exoplanet discoveries, but perhaps one of the largest UFO/extraterrestrial hearings came at the National Press Club, which also took place in Mid-2013. 

At this event, hundreds of researchers, activists and military/ agency/ political witnesses representing ten countries gave UFO/extraterrestrial testimony to six former members of the United States Congress about events and evidence indicating an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race.

Former Sen. Mike Gravel (D-Alaska), and 2008 presidential candidate said that there is “an extraterrestrial influence that is investigating our planet. Something is monitoring the planet and they are monitoring it very cautiously.” You can learn more about the citizens hearing here.

Apart from these events, UFOs are constantly a topic of interest in today’s mainstream news. Unfortunately, most mainstream media outlets that cover the topic seek out to ridicule it rather than investigating it properly.

5. Personal Experience & Video Footage

There are millions of people out there claiming to have contact with extraterrestrial beings. This has played a large role in spreading the influence of extraterrestrial interest across the world. All of us seem to be naturally fascinated with the unknown, especially when it comes to space. It seems  like human nature.

Neuroscience can now explain what happens to our body when we meditate, but it’s something we all knew to be beneficial before the science. Is extraterrestrial life similar? Is it something we all feel deep down inside, something we don’t need proof for? (Even though the proof is there).

Besides the thousands of videos available on YouTube, there is some very fascinating officially documented UFO footage available for us to see. Click HERE to see raw footage of a UFO showing up in Norway for scientists at their observatory.

Click HERE and HERE to see film from the 1991 NASA STS-48 Discovery Space Shuttle mission. It’s some of the best, officially documented UFO footage that’s out there today.

HERE is a video that made headlines once released. It came from straight front the Mexican Air Force. Do a quick UFO search on youtube and you’ll see many fakes, but many real videos of unknown aerial objects.
Final Thoughts

A few years ago the question was “Do UFOs exist?” Today that question has been answered, and the presence of UFOs performing maneuvers that defy our laws of physics has been well documented. The question has more so shifted to, “Is that an extraterrestrial space craft?”

It’s nothing to fear, in my opinion they’ve been around forever. They have been aware of us long before we have been aware of them. As speculated with our ancient civilizations in Earth’s brief past, perhaps they will one day interact with humanity again. I guess we will see.

Perhaps some groups are concerned about our planet, and come here further pushing the idea that we need to start changing the way we are doing things here. Perhaps one day soon we will find out.

I definitely believe that a good chunk of these UFOs are of extraterrestrial origin. I also believe that many of these crafts are “ours.”

Watch: 5 possible UFO sightings in Chattanooga

In late January, a collection of previously classified documents on UFO sightings from 1952 to 1970 were made easily searchable by a website called The Black Vault.

And while the Project Blue Book files are available through a Freedom of Information Act request, the searchable database has since been removed from The Black Vault website because of a copyright claim by Ancestry.com. Click here to read more.

While it was online, I spent several hours searching through the archives while listening to the soundtrack from "The X-Files." Only a few of the Chattanooga reports were of any interest historically. However, some of the reports were jarring not because of the incidents but the responses to those incidents from government officials.

One in particular dismissed an elderly woman's 1959 claim that her observation from Missionary Ridge was nothing more than a routine weather balloon. 

Fortunately, The Black Vault still maintains a searchable archive of more recent documents and UFO cases for our research.

In order to find the good stuff, you have to search YouTube. The following accounts are videos of supposed UFO activity in the Chattanooga region. You may draw your own conclusions, but I encourage you to keep an open mind as you watch the videos. 

Have you ever seen a UFO? Do you believe that aliens are visiting us? Or that the government agencies are keeping secrets? Are you scared? Are you willing to be probed?

The Hixson triangle
At approximately 10:55 p.m. EST Feb. 27, 2014, a man was observing the sky in Hixson when he noticed something strange. According to a testimony, the man saw "an unlighted, triangular-shaped object glide across the night sky." He mentioned no sound and said the object remained for 12 seconds before disappearing. As a longtime observer of the sky, the man had never seen anything like it before or since. He promises it was not a plane or bird. No further information is available. There is no video of the account, but you can imagine this was similar to the 2009 Phoenix lights.

The amber UFO
This is video from a man observing what he calls an "amber, reddish UFO" over his apartment complex in Chattanooga. The light appears to hover and flash above the tree line for over 60 seconds. Click here to watch the video. The date of the video is Feb. 4, 2012, but the man says the date is Feb. 5 within the video. More interesting, perhaps, are the comments from other people who claim to have seen a similar light. It should be noted that this user also posted a video called "More UFOs over Chattanooga" in which he is seen releasing weather balloons and observing them as if they were UFOs.

Chinese drone or UFO?
This incident is particularly difficult to understand, not because of the quality of the video but because of the irritating voices of the narrators and the fact the video was recorded vertically. A light, similar to the one in the videos above, appears over a row of houses. The gentlemen (and I shudder to use that word) speak to the UFO as if it can hear them. "Hey, UFO!" one of them says. "Goodbye, UFO," they say as it disappears into the horizon. Also curious was the comment from a third party on the scene that the UFO was, in fact, a "Chinese drone." Click here to view the video.

The Walmart sighting
A woman claims to have been on her way to Walmart on Jan. 16, 2015, when she observed and documented a ball of light in the night sky. For nearly five minutes, the ball of light is visible in the video. It seems to change from a bright, glowing green to a dark red color. The woman recording the video does not make a sound, perhaps because she is terrified a flash of light may bring her onto the vessel. Click here to view the video.

Ringgold tornado UFO
In this very dramatic video, a tour of tornado damage in the Ringgold area causes even more concern. At the one-minute mark of the video, the footage slows down and begins panning slowly across the field of view. A small, bug-sized black splotch appears. The video seems to zero in on the grainy object. Is this evidence that UFOs were present following the devastation of the 2011 tornadoes? Or, to go further, might this video be evidence of the presence of sky people?
