Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.
This is our new dog Kira, a cross between a water dog and a Podenko. She has been with us since February 7, 2024 and is busy winning our hearts. She is a sweet, affectionate dog who quickly adapted to us within a week. She is very quick and curious, a very different dog than Noleke.

An Alabama witness driving along I-459 at the Morgan Road exit near Hoover reported watching a black triangle UFO hovering over a bridge, according to testimony in Case 61566 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The witness was driving toward Hoover at 5:55 p.m. on November 19, 2014, and had just passed the Morgan Road exit when the objet was first seen.
“I see what looks like a small, two-seat airplane,” the witness stated. “I say that because it was low – tree tops – and was moving across the sky going to my right. It was not going too fast. The Bessemer airport is about 5-10 miles from where I was.”

But then the object made an unusual maneuver.
“All of a sudden this object turns upside down and goes back to the left. It stops and hovers. I was thinking – that sure don’t act or seem like a small airplane?”
The witness continued to move closer to the object.
“As I get close I see it’s a black triangle craft hovering right over a bridge along I-459. I could not believe it. Someone else had to see it. The interstate was busy – but so far no reports on the news.”
The witness drove under the object.
“As I drove up I-459 and went under the overpass/bridge, I was right under this thing. Like I said, it was a dark triangle craft hovering. It had 3-4 lights on each side. They were white, bright like a big flood light. They were blinking on and off. One side the lights would blink 1,2,3,4. Then go dark. Then the other side would blink 1,2,3,4.”
The witness could not stop.
“I tried to slow down and get a picture but traffic would not allow it. I saw this thing for about 30 seconds to one minute. Once I was under it – it was very, very low – tree top height.”

The witness reported that a relative saw something odd close to the time of his own sighting.
“What is also strange is about 10 minutes before I saw this craft my aunt said something flew over her house and made a strange noise. She lives west of where I was – maybe about 5-10 minutes away. She said something was in the air coming over her house and made a strange noise. She did not see it, but heard something. Odd for sure.”
Hoover is a city in Jefferson and Shelby Counties in north central Alabama, population 84,126.
Alabama has a current UFO Alert Rating of 5 with a low number of recent reports nationally. Alabama had 2 UFO reports that occurred during October 2014 – calculated at 0.41 sightings per million population.
The UFO Alert Rating System is based on five levels – 1 through 5 – where states with 4.01 or higher reports per million residents are rated an Alert 1; 3.01 – 4.0 reports are an Alert 2; 2.51 – 3.0 are an Alert 3; 2.01 – 2.5 are an Alert 4; and those states with 2.0 or lower are rated an Alert 5.

A real-time solar image taken from NASA’s SDO Satellite shows a giant object passing near the Corona of the Sun.
It is a cosmic particle striking the imaging system, or maybe a ‘light leak’ caused by a hole in the micro meteorite shield that protects the lenses on SDO or… NASA’s SDO Satellite captured an extraterrestrial spacecraft?
Robert Hastings, the author of UFOs and Nukes: Extraordinary Encounters at Nuclear Weapons Sites, says he has amassed over 150 interviews with military veterans from both the US and USSR that have witnessed UFO events at nuclear weapons sites. In 2010, he brought several of these witnesses to the National Press Club in Washington D.C. to share their stories with the media. The event was streamed live by CNN. Now, Hastings wants to feature his research in a documentary, and he is asking for your help to complete it.
Hastings wrote on his website that the $100k budget for the documentary has been spent, and that he needs another $25k to finish it.
I emailed Hastings some questions about the film and why he thinks the project is so important. He says his UFO research stands apart from the rest because, “I am the only researcher who has focused on this type of UFO activity. My data base of nukes-related UFO incidents far exceeds that of any other investigator. That will come through in the film.”
He continued:
The existence and threatened use of nuclear weapons has shaped the modern world. For the first time in human history, we possess weapons which would–if used en masse–destroy civilization, as well as poison the planetary environment with radiation. The Cold War, between the US and the USSR and their allies, was the central feature in international relations for more than 50 years.
Intriguingly, as the result of American and Soviet documents being declassified, or stolen, we now know that a still unidentified outside third party, possessing vastly superior aerial craft, monitored and even disrupted the nuclear missiles operated by both superpowers during that tense era.
Moreover, evidence provided by US military personnel suggests that this startling, perhaps ominous UFO activity continues to occur to the present day.
This obviously makes the UFO phenomenon a front page story, even though the US government continues to deny its reality and the mainstream media continues to routinely report these official lies as fact.
My film examines intermittent but ongoing UFO incursions at nuclear weapons sites from the late 1940s to 2010, and is based on declassified American and stolen Soviet documents, as well as the testimony of military veterans from both the US and the USSR. Over the past 41 years, I have interview more than 150 of the former, of which twelve appear in the film.
Hastings stresses the high level of credibility these witnesses have in particular. He says, ” These are persons that the American government trusted to launch World War III, if it had come to that, by launching their nuclear ICBMs. Now, scores of those same veterans are coming forward and stating that UFOs have long monitored and even shut down those missiles.”
Hastings’ website includes an excerpt from the movie with some incredible testimony from several of the witnesses he referred to. One story in the clip is told by former US Air Force Captain Jay Earnshaw, who while stationed at Warren Air Force Base in 1965, received a call from flight control about a remarkable UFO sighting.
Earnshaw says, “He had observed, along with the rest of his response team members, what looked like five to six oblong lights stacked on top of one another just outside the gate.”
The objects did not shoot down a beam or move aggressively. Earnshaw says, “They simply were there stacked up.”
According to Earnshaw, all of the paperwork on this sighting disappeared. You can watch the clip below.

Als u probeert uw adem in te houden, loopt u al meteen ernstige longschade op door het drukverschil. Elke duiker weet dat je met open mond moet opstijgen, om geen drukverschil tussen binnen en buiten te laten ontstaan. Van een paar meter diep omhoog schieten met gesloten mond kan al pijnlijke gevolgen hebben.
Als alle lucht uit uw longen verdwijnt, is er natuurlijk geen zuurstof meer om naar uw hersenen te transporteren, en raakt u na pakweg vijftien seconden buiten westen, afhankelijk van hoeveel zuurstof er nog in uw bloed zat. Duikers kunnen langer voort zonder te ademen, maar hun bloed haalt nog achtergebleven lucht uit hun longen. Dat lukt in vacuüm niet.
U zal langzaam beginnen opzwellen, door de verdamping van water in uw huid en het onderliggend weefsel. Maar uw huid is sterk genoeg om te zorgen dat u daarbij niet ontploft. Wel begint het speeksel op uw tong te koken. Mensen die het al meegemaakt hebben, vertellen dat dit het laatste is dat ze voelden vooraleer ze het bewustzijn verloren. Dat gebeurde onder andere in 1965 in het Johnson Space Center, toen iemands pak ging lekken in een vacuümkamer. Na korte tijd hadden de technici de ruimte voldoende onder druk gebracht (tot ongeveer de druk van het basiskamp op Mount Everest) en ontwaakte hij spontaan weer.
Door die verdamping van water, ook in de huid en de ogen, wordt er warmte aan uw lichaam onttrokken. Toch zal u niet snel doodvriezen in het luchtledige. Vacuüm is immers een goede isolator.
Als u binnen anderhalve minuut weer onder druk gebracht wordt, begint u spontaan terug te ademen, de opgezwollen lichaamsdelen krimpen in een paar uur terug tot hun normale grootte en u houdt er relatief weinig aan over. Behalve een ernstige zonnebrand en een tijdelijke blindheid.
De Scène in 2001, A Space Odyssey, waarin een astronaut zonder helm een paar meter tussen twee ruimtetuigen overbrugt, is dus geen wetenschappelijke onzin. Maar voorlopig gaan zowel de Nasa als de Esa ervan uit dat een barst in de helm of een scheur in een pak een heel klein probleem zijn. Op hun websites vind je er in elk geval niet meteen uitleg over.

Universiteit van Californië Wetenschappers: ‘gecamoufleerde’ Aliens leven onder ons!
Wetenschappers van de Universiteit van Californië kwamen met een ongewone hypothese die suggereert dat buitenaardse wezens al lang geleden zijn neergestreken op Aarde en onder ons levenals waarnemers.
Natuurlijk, er is geen bewijs van, maar volgens oude bronnen, met inbegrip van de Bijbel, is onze planeet al bezocht door vertegenwoordigers van buitenaardse beschavingen sinds haar ontstaan.
In 2000 hielden wetenschappers van de Universiteit van Californië, onder leiding van professor Jonathan Malkisom een persconferentie, waarin het sensationele nieuws dat vertegenwoordigers van buitenaardse beschavingen reeds lang onder de mensen zijn geweest werd gemeld. Zij namen menselijke vormen aan om elke beweging van ons nauwlettend te volgen. “Het is als een extreme versie van de camouflage gevonden bij sommige insecten en dieren. Bovendien zijn er volgens historische verslagen aliens op Aarde geweest sinds het begin van de schepping “, zegt Adrian Kent van het Perimeter Instituut voor Theoretische Fysica in Canada.
Een bevestiging van de woorden van de Canadese wetenschapper kan worden gevonden in het boek Genesis, op het punt waar de confrontatie van Jacob met de Almachtige wordt beschreven:
De oude filosofen waren altijd op zoek naar het antwoord op de vraag of wezens die vanuit de lucht arriveerden leden waren van dezelfde stam als de engelen. Maar in de regel, was het antwoord nee, want de aankomende wezens waren sterfelijk, terwijl de engelen voor eeuwig leven.
De vraag van buitenaardse beschavingen was voor het eerst open en serieus besproken in de twintigste eeuw, vooral nadat de CIA een klein deel van het archief van het zogenaamde Roswell geval vrijgaf, toen de Amerikaanse militairen een neergestorte vliegende schotel vonden en de delen afleverden aan de basis.
Er is informatie dat naast onbekend ruimte object afval, de lichamen van drie wezens zijn gevonden en naar de basis zijn overgebracht. De oorzaak van het incident was de impact van de grond radars op de navigatieapparatuur van de vreemdelingen. Volgens een andere versie, werd de UFO door de bliksem getroffen.
Er zijn berichten dat de Amerikaanse president John F. Kennedy, een paar dagen voor zijn dood, het hoofd van de CIA vroeg om al het materiaal over het incident aan te leveren, maar hij slaagde er niet in om toegang te krijgen tot de meest geheime archieven.
Vanaf de jaren 1980, begonnen veel mensen te beweren dat zij niet alleen het uiterlijk van een UFO in de lucht had gezien, maar binnen deze objecten waren geweest, en dat ze zelfs in contact met de wezens waren gekomen.
Een van de meest beroemde contactees is de Bulgaarse profeet Vanga:

Wat willen aliens op aarde?
Er is slechts een hypothese, die werd voorgesteld door de Britse wetenschapper Timothy Good in zijn boek, “De aarde is niet langer een ‘tussenliggende basis.’ Ze hebben zich hier gevestigd voor een goede lange tijd.” In januari 2011, kondigden Britse wetenschappers de noodzaak aan om ons voor te bereiden op spoedvergadering met een buitenaardse beschaving, en werd zelfs de oprichting van een speciale commissie bij de VN voorgesteld.
A few months ago my fiance and I were watching a movie, I’m not sure what it was but there was a scene in the movie with a UFO. We got into a conversation about it and she asked me if I had ever seen a UFO. I proceeded to tell her the same story that I’m about to tell you that I had never told anybody because to be quite honest. As I was telling her the story, memories were coming to me that I had completely put in the back of my mind.
In 1995 I lived in a small town called Dover, Missouri, about 60 miles east from Kansas City. I was living with a girlfriend at the time and her brother. My girlfriend worked the night shift so I would stay up late at night and wait for her to get home in the morning. For some reason we decided to go to Concordia Missouri to a truck stop for coffee. The truck stop was about 25 to 30 miles away from where we were. My girlfriend’s brother was driving his car and I was riding in the passenger seat. We left the house about 12:30 or 1 o’clock in the morning, and proceeded to drive east on Highway 24 leaving Dover towards the exit to go to Concordia. My girlfriend’s brother had some god awful rap music playing in the car and I was looking out the window watching for deer. As I am looking out the window he is talking but I’m really not paying attention to what he is saying because I see a bright light about a mile ahead 200 feet off the ground ahead of us. I was able to gauge the distance because I could see beyond the water tower that I was familiar with at an orchard on 24 Highway. I could clearly make out the red light was flashing on top of the water tower, and this light appeared to be just off to the side of it and above it. I watched the light for about a minute or two and I asked him if he saw what I saw. I can only describe it as a ball of light that changed colors.
As we got closer I noticed that it was not moving it was stationary side by side with the light on top of the water tower. Keep in mind this water tower is in the middle of nowhere there are no buildings around for at least 15 to 20 miles besides the barn that was on the opposite side of the road and is about half the height of the water tower. I remember telling him its not moving its not moving. We stopped the car to get out and look at it and it started to move. This is the point of the story where my fiance asked me what happened next and to be honest until she asked me that question, I never thought about it, and I do not remember what happened next.
My next memory is turning south onto the side road off of 24 and I’m not sure but I believe that it was much later when we arrived at the truck stop around 3 a.m. but it seemed perfectly normal to us at the time and remained that way until the night I was with my fiance 19 years later. As I have thought about it more the last month or so I remember flashes of images but I do not trust the images are accurate because as I said, I’m not sure what happened.

UFO puts on show – Jefferson police officers describe close encounter

Two Jefferson County air unit police officers — described by their lieutenant as “solid guys” — swear they had a two-minute dogfight with a UFO during a routine helicopter patrol Friday night.
Two officers on the ground said they, too, spotted the object. The UFO — a glowing pear-shaped object about the size of a basketball — literally flew circles around the helicopter, even though the fliers say they were moving at speeds approaching 100 mph.
In one blinding moment when both craft were hurtling toward each other, the UFO shot three baseball-size fireballs out of its middle, all three officers said. The fireballs fizzled into nothing. Officers Kenny Graham and Kenny Downs haven’t talked much about their Friday night flight over General Electric Appliance Park because they fear few will believe them. But they are convinced they weren’t hallucinating.
“We both go to church every week,” Downs said as a way of explaining how normal the two normally are. “In fact, I might start going to church twice a week.” Officer Mike Smith, in his squad car below, said he saw the object for only about a minute. But he confirmed the UFO shot three fireballs into the air and then disappeared. Officer Joe Smolenski said he tried for more than a minute to catch up to the object in his squad car. “I’ve been looking for ‘em for 14 years, and I guess this is the closest I’ve come to something I couldn’t explain.”
Lt. David Pope, who was roused out of bed at 12:30 Saturday morning by a call from the startled officers, attested to their sanity and sincerity.
“These guys are totally solid guys,” Pope said. “There’s no doubt in my mind there was something out there.”
The night started out like every other night. Graham and Downs got to work around 6 p.m. and were soon in the air flying a routine patrol. Graham, 39 and an 11-year veteran, was the pilot. Downs, 39 and a five-year veteran, was the spotter.
While in the air, they received a call about a possible break-in near Sanford Avenue and Buechel Bank Road. They flew off and quickly reached the area, which is near the northeast coner of Appliance Park, around 11:50 p.m.
As they circled, Graham saw something that looked like a small fire off to his left. Dozens of bonfires had been lit around the county that night by revelers delighting in the new snowfall.
But Graham soon decided i! wasn’t a fire. Downs shined his 1.3-million-candlepower spotlight on the object, which began to drift back and forth like a balloon as the light washed over it. Then it gradually floated up to the helicopter’s elevation about 500 feet above the ground, where it hovered for a few seconds.
“Then it took off at a speed I’ve never seen before,” said Graham: an experienced pilot.
The object made two huge counter-clockwise loops and finally approached the helicopter’s rear.
Graham, afraid-the object would ram his tail rotor, pushed his speed above 100 mph. The UFO shot past them and instantly climbed hundreds of feet in the air. It descended again and flew close to the helicopter. Graham tried to close the gap with the object, and it again flew away. As the UFO approached on a parallel course, the three fireballs burst out of its core.
Scared, Graham banked away from the object.
“When we came back around, it was gone,” Graham said.
When the two returned to their base, Graham called the control tower at Standiford Field to ask if their radar had spotted anything unusual. It had not.
Downs called the county’s radio dispatchers to ask if anyone else had reported sightings. No one had.
But the two did get confirmation from two officers on the ground, one of whom was Smith.
“I have no idea what it was,” Smith said, but his confirmation cheered the two fliers.
“It makes me feel better,” Downs said, “that there are… grown men out there who are sworn to protect this community and who saw the same thing.” – UFO Evidence
I very much remember this story. In fact, the Weekly World News tabloid ran it as a front page cover story some months after it took place (it would be awesome to find a copy of it). The Weekly World News story distorted everything a bit and claimed a massive dog fight over the skies of Louisville. Their version of the story was awesome.
However……the real story came out a few days later when a guy stepped forward and told how we was showing his wife how to make miniature home made hot air balloons (I.e., chinese lanterns). Apparently he had made these in the Boy Scouts as a child and thought it’d be fun to make another. He launched the balloon about the time a police chopper was near. As the chopper approached the balloon, the wind from the rotors would push the balloon away. The fireballs were supposedly melting plastic.
Interesting, to say the least. I’d be curious to know what the cops themselves thought of this revelation, and if they still stuck to their story. The original report claimed the object “literally flew circles around the helicopter, even though the fliers say they were moving at speeds approaching 100 mph”, and that doesn’t really sound consistent with balloon behavior.
The bit about the fireballs being shot out from the main object being “melting plastic”, I don’t know. It all sounds a bit specious, but on the other hand, the idea of a basketball-sized UFO sounds pretty unlikely as well. – Dan Brandenburg

Patient in hospice photographs ghost or angel in room hours before dying
This amazing photo shows what is claimed could be a spirit visiting a patient not long before their death in a hospice. The poster of the original photo states:
A hospice nurse passed this along to me. As one of her patients was getting close to passing over, the patient said that she was sensing someone in a secluded area of the room. She was given a small camera to try to capture what she was seeing. (She took this photo at night). When the film was developed, this is what appeared. This is my photograph of the photograph. The Bizarre Reason Thailand Cinemas Refuse To Screen The Hunger Games: Mockingjay
In The Hunger Games, the spirit of rebellion within Katniss Everdeen inspires revolt in the oppressed districts of Panem. Well, the fictional heroine is also inspiring students in Thailand, and it’s not going unnoticed.
THR reports Thailand’s theater chain Apex Group has pulled screenings of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 following the arrests of five university students for using Katniss’s three-finger salute of defiance against the country’s Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-Ocha. Apex Group has told the Bangkok Post there was no pressure from the new administration to pull the film from their screens. Instead, the company insists it “did not want to become embroiled in a political movement.” However, it should be noted that the three-finger gesture is banned by the military-imposed government.
This is an eerie case of life imitating art. In The Hunger Games movies, this same gesture is a symbol of unity of the rebels of Panem, and so is designated an act of treason by the tyrant Snow. In Thailand, activists pushing for the nation to become a democracy began using the gesture back in May, when General Prayuth Chan-Ocha led a military coup that made him the nation’s prime minister. It was he who made this Hunger Games nod illegal.
The students who were recently arrested attended a speaking engagement of the new prime minister. They displayed t-shirts that read “We Don’t Want the Coup” and raised their fingers in the iconic gesture before being dragged away by military police. From there, they were transported to a military camp for “attitude adjustment” that included being forced to sign a contract that they’d give up their protests or else risk imprisonment and expulsion from their law school.
Apex’s decision to pull The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 might be the safest move politically, but it’s guaranteed to hurt the chain financially. THR estimates the company will lose $30,500 in revenue for opting out of the title that is sure to be one of the biggest box office hits of 2014. And what movie–you might wonder–is Apex Group bringing into to replace The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1? Magic in the Moonlight, the critically panned rom-com from Woody Allen that includes an Englishman masquerading as Asian, but no message of political opposition.
Yet other theaters in Thailand will still be screening The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1. And it seems likely that Katniss’s message of defiance in the face of threat and tyranny is catching fire. As arrested 21-year-old student Nachacha Kongudom told Yahoo: “The Mockingjay movie reflects what’s happening in our society. When people have been suppressed for some time, they would want to resist and fight for their rights.” – Cinema Blend
Having lost his trademark over its overt racism, Daniel Snyder has taken the unusual step of suing the five Native American people who testified before the US Patent and Trademark Office hearing, which led to the finding that Snyder’s team’s name was “disparaging to Native Americans.”
And that filing was denied by the judge, who will allow this ridiculous lawsuit to go forward. The team’s lawyers apparently feel that using a lawsuit outside of its intended purpose is just fine in this case, even if it means the five activists will have to go through the legal proceedings, which will certainly involve some sort of time and monetary cost to them. It’s beginning to look as though Daniel Snyder can’t take a breath without pissing off at least some Native Americans. But, again, regardless of what you think of the team’s name, the important part of this story is that Snyder and the Redskins are pursuing a path specifically designed to chill speech regarding trademarks a corporation might have in place. Should this start some kind of movement to allow for lawsuits against mere petitioners in trademark disputes, well, the team with the most money wins. The point is that allowing this sort of thing to go forward attaches a legal firearm to every dollar a company has within its coffers. Who will dispute a trademark with the threat of an expensive lawsuit staring them down?
Meteor? UFO? Flash Over Russia May Have Earthly Origin
Video of the sky lighting up over Russia’s Sverdlovsk region last Friday calls to mind the enormous fireballs that fell over Chelyabinsk in early 2013 and Murmansk in April. But at least one expert seems sure that this particular phenomenon may not be celestial in origin. A meteor-watching blog quotes Marco Langbroek of the Dutch Meteor Society: “I doubt this one is a meteor.” He points out that the onlookers already seemed to be aware of a red glow in the sky before the flare-up — and that when the light does appear, it’s stationary. “To me, it looks like a fire or series of small explosions and subsequent large explosion or flash fire reflecting on a cloud deck,” he concluded.
A local news site suggests there’s an old chemical plant outside the nearby town of Rezh, the explosion of which would be consistent with this phenomenon, and one local on the forum of Astronomy.ru wrote there were also reports of the military setting off ammunition. See video at NBC News

Researcher Claims New Area 51 Alien Autopsy Image is ‘Smoking Gun’
One of the most enduring mysteries of the past few decades could be about to be solved, as a researcher claims to have uncovered a clear photograph of an alien from Area 51 – on film which maker Kodak has dated as authentically being from 1947, the date of the supposed crash.
UFO expert Tom Carey was sent images of ‘insect-like’ aliens from 1947, photographed after autopsy inside the secretive facility – by a woman thought to be involved in one of America’s intelligence agencies.
Carey describes his discovery as ‘the smoking gun’.
Carey has contacted official Kodak historians to certify the authenticity of the film stock – and to ensure the date is accurate. He aims to reveal his findings in full early next year.
The content of the images is explosive – showing clear images of aliens under autopsy, something the US has always denied.
Several staff at firms such as Lockheed Martin claim that not only were aliens examined at the site, their technology was reverse-engineered to make hi-tech aircraft.
Tom Carey has been researching the crash – where many believe that the U.S. government either autopsied alien bodies, or captured them alive – since 1991, and has written numerous books on the subject.
He claims that the new image has been certified by Kodak’s official historian as not being Photoshopped – with the expert having examined Kodachrome colour slides showing an ‘alien’ body lying inside a case. Carey says there is a clear contrast between his images and other common images and videos of ‘aliens’ supposedly from Area 51.
Carey says: ‘What’s interesting is, the film is dated 1947. We took it to the official historian of Kodak up in Rochester, New York, and he did his due diligence on it, and he said yes, this filmstrip, the slides are from 1947. It’s 1947 stock. And from the emulsions on the image, it’s not something that’s been Photoshopped like today. It’s original 1947 images, and it shows an alien who’s been partially dissected lying in a case.’
Carey says that the creatures are smaller than humans – around three to four feet tall. ‘The head is almost insect-like. The head has been severed, and there’s been a partial autopsy; the innards have been removed, and we believe the cadaver has been embalmed, at least at the time this picture was taken.’
Nigel Watson, author of the Haynes UFO Investigations Manual, cautions that several researchers have promised similar ‘smoking guns’ in the past: ‘Usually when people make promises that they have the smoking gun of ufology – positive evidence of their existence – they come to nothing or they produce rather underwhelming evidence.’
‘However, if aliens were retrieved it would be a world changing event and I can’t imagine they could keep the lid on such an event throughout the 50s and 60s.’
Carey was sent the slides by a couple in Texas. ‘The woman was a high-powered Midland, Texas, lawyer with a pilot’s licence. We think she was involved in intelligence in World War II, and her husband was a field geologist for an oil company,’ claims Carey. – Read more at Metro
The parent company and owner of a Santa Monica restaurant pleaded guilty Monday to federal charges stemming from serving meat from the endangered Sei whale to undercover investigators in 2009 and 2010.
Typhoon Restaurant Inc. and owner Brian Vidor each pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful sale of a marine mammal at the now-closed restaurant The Hump at the Santa Monica Municipal Airport.
As part of the plea, Vidor admitted that he was aware his sushi chefs, who have previously pleaded guilty, were serving whale at the restaurant and allowed it.
Typhoon and Vidor will jointly pay a $27,500 fine and will be placed on 18-month and 12-month terms of probation, respectively, if the terms of the plea agreements are accepted by Judge Dale S. Fischer.
Chefs Kiyoshiro Yamamoto and Susumu Ueda pleaded guilty earlier this year to misdemeanor counts of conspiracy and the sale of marine mammals in violation of the Marine Mammal Protection Act, but they have yet to be sentenced.
The supplier of the whale meat, Ginichi Ohira, has also pleaded guilty.
Authorities launched an investigation into The Hump, known to specialize in exotic seafood items, after producers behind the documentary “The Cove” secretly filmed whale meat being served at the restaurant.
In 2010, with undercover agents with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration seated around the sushi bar, Yamamoto left through the back door holding his car keys and then returned with a package wrapped in plastic.
He then served pieces of meat, telling customers in a hushed voice that it was whale, according to an affidavit in the case.
Typhoon and Vidor are scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 23.
The McGraths of Hampton, New Hampshire, are used to friendly critters stopping by their backyard, but a frenetic visit on Tuesday morning from their resident groundhog was anything but a welcomed encounter. Gary McGrath was unloading his truck when the roughly two-foot-long groundhog came barrelling toward him. What started out as a comical sight quickly turned into a somewhat scary incident for the 65-year-old as he watched the plump animal running at a brisk jog in his direction.
“Out of the corner of my eye I saw something move, then it came running,” said McGrath. “I kicked it away, but then it got back up and came back at me again. I kicked it away again, and it came right back.” That’s when McGrath ran into his garage and shut the door, only to have the groundhog circle around to the other side of the garage and get in through a different open door. “He was out to get me,” said McGrath. “Fortunately he doesn’t run very fast, but neither do I. My first thought was, ‘He’s being awful friendly,’ when he came up to me the first time.
“He’s normally friendly. After he came after me again, I thought, ‘Wait, he wants something.’” The groundhog, which McGrath’s grandchildren enjoy looking for when they come to visit, then bared its teeth as it chased McGrath into his house. It didn’t stop there, as McGrath said it the animal began digging at the glass-and-metal door, furiously attempting to bite and claw its way inside. McGrath’s wife Carol suspects the groundhog was sick due to rabies. The animal was always docile when they encountered it previously, and Carol said she often enjoyed its presence because it would eat the weeds on their property.
“We were lucky,” she said of the “crazy” and “freaky” ordeal. “You’re just in a kind of disbelief when something like that happens.” The couple called Hampton Animal Control Officer Peter MacKinnon for help, watching in amazement as the groundhog continued to dig at the door and a corner of leaf-covered dirt next to the front stairs before MacKinnon arrived. The groundhog also tried to attack MacKinnon when he got out of his truck, forcing him to jump back into the vehicle and slam the door before the animal could get inside. MacKinnon used a rifle to kill the animal after he exited his vehicle, and the groundhog’s body will now be tested for rabies. – Seacoast Online
A British company is hoping to raise enough money through crowdfunding to land a robot on the moon.
Lunar Mission One is aiming to raise at least £600,000 for the developmental phase of a mission that would see a spacecraft land at the moon’s south pole. Once there it would use a special drill to investigate rocks dating back over 4.5 billion years.
To help raise funds the company behind the project will be offering the opportunity for people to have information about themselves preserved in a “digital memory box” that will be left on the moon like a time capsule for future generations.
“Governments are finding it increasingly difficult to fund space exploration that is solely for the advancement of human knowledge and understanding as opposed to commercial return,” said project founder David Iron.
“The world class team of advisors and supporters we have assembled will address this issue and crucially, anyone from around the world can get involved for as little as a few pounds.” Read more at Independent
Emergency services refuse to comment cause of extraordinary blast in the dark sky.
A huge flash lit up the early evening darkness, as shown by images taken from a dashcam on a road close to Yekaterinburg. The sky suddenly turns orange-red at 17.39 local time (though the dashcam records it as 18.39). For the next 11 seconds an orange light with yellow and white in the middle engulfs the entire sky.
‘For a few moments night turned into dazzling day, then everything went dark again,’ said one witness.
The explosion came on 14 November but images only appeared of it today; strangely no sound was picked up.
Theories for the explosion included a missile or an object from space. Yet it did not have the same shape or pattern as the Chelyabinsk meteorite which exploded over the Urals in February 2013.
The author of the footage wrote on the web: ‘On Friday (November 14 , 2014 at 5.40pm) I observed a flash in the sky, on the road on the way to Rezh.
‘I found nothing about it in the news. Did anyone else see it? What was it?’
The glow was also filmed by the teenagers from Yekaterinburg on mobile cameras. The main question from witnesses is ‘What was it?’
According to regional television neither meteorologists nor scientists can explain the strange phenomenon. A local observatory indicated nothing fell from the sky on the day of the flash. Local officials from the Emergencies Ministry refused to comment on the happening.
MANY STATES REPORT STRANGE CRAFT IN THE SKY MARCH 15, 1995 …… CANNIS CITY FLORIDA ….. JACKSON TENNESSEE …… WASHINGTON D.C.
Traditionally, the Center identifies a given sighting by assigning to it the name of the nearest city, or other geographical feature or landmark. It the case of the cluster of sighting reports we received over the Hotline on the evening of March 15, l995, so many states and cities were involved, we are going to borrow a line from Shakespeare regarding the possible perils of that date… The first call we received was from Cannis City, FL, reporting that two males were walking along railroad tracks near that town and were stunned to see a luminous, white disc-shaped object streak across the sky, pass below or near several aircraft in the night sky, appear to ascend back up into the sky, and disappear to the north. The report seemed to be sincere, and bore several of the hallmarks that the Center knows to be characteristic of legitimate reports. However, it was so much like so many other reports the Hotline receives on a regular basis that we were not yet alerted to the possibility that other reports were soon to follow… The third call we received minutes later from a gentleman in Jackson, TN, who reported witnessing a blue-green “cloud of light” hovering in the night sky. He had seen it streak from the northwest beneath, he thought, almost solid overcast, hover for approximately 30 or 40 seconds, during which time he could almost see some kind of object apparently imbedded in the cloud of light. The object then began to drift generally to the southwest, the caller reported, at which time it belched out a large “cloud” of sparks, and then streaked southwest, quickly disappearing from sight. Minutes later, we received a call from a sergeant in the Missouri Highway Patrol communications headquarters in Jefferson City (“Troop F”). The officer had been on duty that night at his station on the east side of Jefferson City, when together with two Jefferson City police officers, he witnessed an intensely bright, green light hover in the sky over Jefferson City for approximately 5-7 seconds. The object began to descend slowly, at which point its color changed to yellow, and then it simply disappeared from sight instantly, like a light being switched off. The patrol officer reported that their “911” emergency dispatch telephone line had taken many reports from citizens regarding the same object, and one caller reported that his cellular phone and radio went dead while the object was near his vehicle. While I was speaking with the patrol officer, another call came in from a retired commercial airline pilot, who resides in Vienna, VA. He and his wife were driving back to their home in Vienna, just a few miles west of Washington, D.C., after having picked up their daughter at National Airport. Their daughter is an airline pilot for the same airline that her father had flown for, and from which he had retired. As they were driving west (at a heading of approximately 250 degrees magnetic) on Westford Avenue (?), approaching the exit for Chain Bridge Road, the father and daughter both simultaneously observed an bright object, apparently at some distance from them, streak down out of the sky almost directly ahead of them, descending at approximately 70-80 degrees from the horizontal plane. They both expected to observe some kind of explosion when the object reached ground level, but nothing happened! Rather than explode, the object simply disappeared from sight–uneventfully– when it reached the horizon… The next call came from Fairmont, WV, perhaps a hundred miles (or more) to the northwest of Vienna, VA. A young woman called to report that, after visiting with her mother in Westover, WV, she had just sat in the driver’s seat of her car to leave, when a bright light had streaked silently over her car at a breath-taking velocity. She added that as she glanced up at the light, she thought she could make out the outline of an “egg-shaped” object imbedded in the orb of bright light. The back portion of the object was bright yellow. Many other calls were received that night, and over subsequent days, regarding what appears to us to be the same sighting. Thousands (!) of calls reportedly were received by radio stations and “911” facilities in St. Louis, MO, after the object passed over that city, and we received two very convincing call from western Illinois, as well. In summary, it appears that one or more egg-shaped objects, radiating intensely bright green, blue-green, and yellow light, and periodically spewing out a cloud of sparks, streaked over at least seven states, stopping from time to time, and the whole event occurred in a matter of minutes!! I would like to close discussion of the case by extending congratulations to Mr. Tom Eckhardt, and the other UFO investigators, of the Acteon Group in St. Louis for their excellent investigation of this case. From our vantage point, their investigation and documentation of the events that occurred over their state on March 15 was second to none, and we are grateful for their wonderful written report regarding the incident.
