Astronomy is weird. Everything we study is really, really far away. So far away really, that for most of history we didn’t know how far away they were. It was impossible to measure.
But then some Greeks decided to figure out how big the Earth is, and then how far away the Moon is, and the Sun, and before you know it (well, a few thousand years later) we’re measuring the distances to objects clear across the known Universe!
It’s always a good day when I can squeeze in a Fonzie reference. And poke fun at Star Wars.
I really enjoyed writing this and the past few episodes, because they lay the groundwork we’ll need for all the rest. Using what we know about light and about distances, the Universe unfolds before us. In the episodes coming up, we’ll leave the solar system behind and start to examine the cosmos around us.
Starting next week, we’ll be taking a Very Big Leap. Get ready, there’s a whole Universe we’ll be exploring from here.
Ufology is full of whistleblowers. There’s the one who worked on the alien spaceship at Area 51, the one who was involved in a gunfight with extraterrestrials, the one who rescued an alien and was able to send him back home, and the one who went on an exchange trip to an alien planet. Then there’s the one who did an interview in a hotel room, and the one who did an interview in a darkened room, so as to disguise his identity. Oh, and let’s not forget the one who was assassinated by the government. Ufology is full of whistleblowers, right? Wrong! Ufology is not full of whistleblowers. Ufology is full of bogus whistleblowers.
At first sight, this may strike some people as being overly-harsh. You might be thinking about leaked government UFO documents that you’ve read, and recalling UFO documentaries or conferences where some of these whistleblowers have appeared. Surely, you might say, a fair proportion of what we know about UFOs comes from various courageous whistleblowers who have taken the decision to violate their secrecy oaths, because they believe they have a higher moral responsibility to the truth. The people have a right to know, as the saying goes. It all sounds great in theory, but the truth is somewhat different, and can be easily demonstrated with a bit of critical thinking.
Ask yourself what happens – outside the field of ufology – to people who leak highly classified information. I’m not talking about traitors who pass classified information to foreign powers, but people who have made such information public, citing the public’s right to know. Some well-known names spring to mind: Former CIA employee Edward Snowden and US Army intelligence specialist Chelsea Manning are two such people. In the UK, ex-MI5 officer David Shayler and former MI6 employee Richard Tomlinson are good examples. There are others. Now, ask yourself, what did the government do in all of those cases? The answer is this: they went after the individuals concerned, proactively, aggressively and relentlessly, using the full resources available to them. And no, I don’t mean they tried to kill them, I mean that where the state was able to do so, the full weight of the criminal justice system (police, prosecutors, courts, etc.) was brought to bear upon them. In real life, that’s what happens to people who leak classified information. So why doesn’t this happen with ufology’s whistleblowers? Why would the government leave such people alone?
The answer is obvious. Ufology’s so-called whistleblowers aren’t leaking classified information at all. They’re making up stories. If any of these people were genuinely leaking classified information they’d be arrested in an instant. I know this not because of my time on the MoD’s UFO project, but because of a later job that I did in the Directorate of Defence Security, where I had some peripheral involvement with Official Secrets Act cases. That, along with my 21 years in a government department where top secret information is commonplace, taught me a lot about the reality of how allegations of security breaches are handled.
Incidentally, at risk of being labelled a government lackey, I don’t approve of whistleblowers anyway, even genuine ones. That’s because such people leak information after deciding that they know better than anyone else whether or not something should be released. However, what I’ve learned from my own work on classified information is that the information owner – usually the subject matter expert – is best-placed to make judgements on whether or not something can safely be declassified. So it’s a mistake for someone else to see such documents pass across their desk and, without knowing the full story, decide for themselves that something should be public knowledge. It’s arrogant and ignorant. That’s not to say that there’s no place for responsible whistleblowing in a free, open and democratic society, but that’s a discussion for another day.
Returning to UFOs and whistleblowing, what of the verifiable government and military personnel who have spoken out about UFOs? People like Edward Ruppelt, Dr. J. Allen Hynek, myself, Dr. John Alexander, Charles Halt, John Burroughs, Jim Penniston and others? The key point is, they’re not whistleblowers. Such people fall into two categories. Witnesses such as Halt, Burroughs and Penniston are simply describing experiences they’ve had. Unless someone specifically instructed them not to talk about things, they aren’t divulging classified information by describing what they saw and experienced. When I collaborated with Burroughs and Penniston on the bestselling book “Encounter in Rendlesham Forest”, the manuscript was pre-submitted to both the UK MoD and the US DOD, because we treat our respective secrecy oaths seriously. When Charles Halt is asked about nuclear issues, he declines to comment, neither confirming nor denying the presence of nuclear weapons in any particular location at any particular time (I answer such questions in exactly the same way). As for those of us who aren’t witnesses, but who have genuinely investigated UFOs for the government, we take our secrecy oaths seriously too, and would never release classified information without proper authorisation. We’re not whistleblowers either. When people see me on TV talking about the MoD’s UFO files, I’m discussing material that’s already been declassified and released by the British Government.
This brings me to the final irony concerning people in ufology who claim to have inside knowledge about secret government UFO projects. You know the ones I mean. The ones making fantastic but totally unverifiable claims about vast underground bases, secret exchange deals between Presidents and extraterrestrials, moon bases, Mars colonies, and much more besides. Such people are absolutely certain about UFOs, extraterrestrials, etc. They’ll give you chapter and verse on anything from UFO propulsion systems and alien agendas, through to the geography of various alien planets. This mirrors the way that many ufologists at the extreme ends of the belief spectrum (i.e. the most devout true believers and die-hard debunkers) are absolutely certain about the true nature of the UFO phenomenon. And here’s the ultimate irony: those of us who have genuinely researched and investigated the UFO mystery for the government are much less sure about things!

Mysterious crop circles have been spotted in wheat fields across the world for decades. With no witnesses to see them being made and reports of strange glowing lights hovering above them, could crop circles be the proof that aliens exist?

The public rarely hears about interactions between military personnel and unexplained aircraft — especially during wartime.
As time goes on, however, UFO stories stuck behind red tape begin to see the light of day. The Vietnam War saw its share of UFO activity in the 1960s.
One close encounter, in 1968, involved the crew of an American patrol boat that reported two glowing circular craft following them in the demilitarized zone that separated North and South Vietnam (see depiction below).
The crew aboard a second patrol boat later reported seeing the UFOs over the first boat and a flash of light, followed by an explosion that completely destroyed the boat. These Vietnam reports included close observation of the unknown aerial craft which appeared to house pilots (see recreation image at the top of this story).
Wartime UFO stories are recreated in the premiere episode of the second season of History’s “Hangar 1: The UFO Files.” The accounts are drawn from tens of thousands of UFO cases in the archives of the Mutual UFO Network, the world’s largest UFO investigation group.
“The military was interested in [UFOs] because they had capabilities far above anything that we had, and they wanted to find out what the technology was and, frankly, who they belonged to,” according to former Air Force intelligence officer, Capt. George Filer.
While in Vietnam, Filer — who had a top secret clearance — gave daily briefings to Gen. George S. Brown, deputy commander for air operations in Vietnam.
“Frequently, the Vietcong or North Vietnamese would be attacking an outpost and I would explain that, and we would have ground-air support, particularly at night where we’d go in there with these gun ships, and I would give briefings on all of that,” Filer told The Huffington Post. “Some of the time, there would be unidentified craft over the DMZ.”
Filer described a typical report that he’d receive and which he included in his briefings to Brown:
“You’d have an aircraft flying along, doing around 500 knots and a UFO comes alongside and does some barrel rolls around the aircraft and then flies off at three times the speed of one of the fastest jets we have in the Air Force. So, obviously, it has a technology far in advance of anything we have.
“I would be told this unofficially. People tell you a lot of things that they don’t put in writing or sign their name to. There was always this part of UFOs that, if you got too interested, it could mess up your career. And this is true today even with commercial pilots. I’ve also heard from people serving in Afghanistan saying they’ve seen UFOs, and the Iranian news carries UFO reports pretty regularly.”
During a 1973 press conference, five years after the patrol boat UFO encounters, Brown — as USAF chief of staff — was asked about the Air Force’s position on UFOs:
I don’t know whether this story has ever been told or not. They weren’t called UFOs. The were called enemy helicopters. And they were only seen at night and they were only seen in certain places. They were seen up around the DMZ in the early summer of ’68. And this resulted in quite a little battle.
And in the course of this, an Australian destroyer took a hit and we never found any enemy, we only found ourselves when this had all been sorted out. And this caused some shooting there, and there was no enemy at all involved, but we always reacted.
Always after dark, the same thing happened up at Pleiku at the Highlands in ’69.
Many stories about battling UFOs have emerged throughout history.
One early account of UFO warfare was supposedly seen by the citizens of Nuremberg, Germany, in 1561. On a morning in April, the Nuremberg Gazette reportedly described an aerial battle between large “cylindrical shapes from which emerged black, red, orange and blue-white spheres that darted about… All these elements started to fight one against the other.” An artist, Hans Glaser, created a woodcut of the spectacle, seen below:
During World War II, also in Germany, Allied aircraft pilots often reported mysterious glowing, fast-moving, circular lights, which were dubbed Foo Fighters. The New York Times reported it as “military slang for flying saucers.”
Filer — who documents his sightings and other UFO news at the National UFO Center site — was one of several military eyewitnesses to something extraordinary in the sky over England. It was 1962, and he was the navigator on a refueling tanker.
“We were out over the North Sea when London Control called and asked if we would be willing to intercept an unidentified that was over Oxford and the Stonehenge area. We had just finished up our refueling mission, so we said sure, and they cleared all the traffic around us and gave us top priority as we descended towards the UFO. All they really had was a very large radar return, but it was much bigger than a normal aircraft.”
Filer (pictured at right) recalled how his radar scope indicated the UFO was as big as the huge Firth of Forth Bridge in Scotland that he and his crew often used as a regular navigation point.
“The ‘thing’ was at 1,000 feet and we were descending from 32,000 feet. We picked up this huge radar return while we were still about 30 miles out. It was dark out and when we got much closer to the object, we saw lights around it, outlining the shape of a cylinder, like a cruise ship. It then just quickly rose and went up into space.
“We were pretty sure we’d just seen a UFO.”
Filer also told HuffPost that he has heard from air traffic controllers who claimed they were told to “always divert aircraft away from UFOs and deny that it existed. I think they want this whole situation to go away, and I think [the policy] is coming from the National Security Council — they’re at the highest level. It sounds funny, but presidents don’t always know what their National Security Council is doing.”
Upcoming episodes of “Hangar 1″ over the next 12 weeks will focus on folks who’ve held military positions and are willing to come forward and tell their stories.
One of those (hold onto your hats) is a man who claims he was in the Marines (wait for it…) and that he was stationed on Mars for several years. That’s right: the red planet Mars. He’ll describe being part of an off-planet military force. Let’s not pass judgment…yet.
There’s also the story of a retired Army sergeant who says he was assigned to UFO crash and retrieval cases where both ships and ET bodies were supposedly recovered — some dead, some alive.
In case you were wondering, Hangar 1 is an actual hangar where MUFON, for a long time, stored all of its archives. At one point, all of the organization’s files were housed in this airport hangar somewhere in the middle of the country. The images of Hangar 1 that appear in the series are of the real hangar.
The guy who left his wife, quit his job, and sold his house to literally move into a van down by the river and spend 25 years hunting the Loch Ness Monster claims he finally solved the mystery that’s captivated dumb tourists and conspiracy theorists for centuries, Reuters reports. Nessie, he claims, is actually just a really, really big catfish.
“I have to be honest. I just don’t think that Nessie is a prehistoric monster,” Steve Feltham told the Times on Thursday. “What a lot of people have reported seeing would fit in with the description of the catfish with its long curved back.”
The real-life river beast he’s describing, a Wels catfish, can grow up to 13 feet long, and looks like it could swallow a human being whole like the Roach in Men in Black. Feltham says that Victorians threw a couple catfish into Loch Ness about a century ago just for the hell of it, and they’ve been haunting the lake ever since.
Feltham’s lifelong saga hunting Nessie—and winning him a Guinness World Record in the process—is mapped out on his website. The “about me” page is strangely beautiful, in a weird, sad sort of way.
“If you have a dream, no matter how harebrained others think it is, then it is worth trying to make it come true,” he writes. “Have I ever regretted my decision? Never, not for one second.”

Volgende maand geeft het Amerikaanse leger het High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program, beter bekend als HAARP, uit handen.
HAARP wordt overgedragen aan de Universiteit van Alaska, aldus een woordvoerder. De luchtmacht heeft tot 11 augustus de leiding over de installatie. Daarna krijgt de universiteit twee jaar toegang tot de locatie.
Ondergrondse installaties in Noord-Korea
HAARP bevindt zich in de buurt van de plaats Gakona in Alaska en bestaat uit 180 antennes, die worden gebruikt om radiogolven te genereren. Daarmee wordt de ionosfeer opgewarmd, wat wetenschappers in staat stelt om experimenten te doen.
Tijdens de Koude Oorlog werd gekeken of de ionosfeer kon worden gebruikt om boodschappen naar kernonderzeeërs te sturen. Na de Koude Oorlog werd HAARP ingezet om ondergrondse installaties in landen als Noord-Korea op te sporen.
In 2002 raakte het Pentagon geïnteresseerd in HAARP. Het ministerie van Defensie investeerde bijna 300 miljoen dollar in het project, dat in 2007 klaar was. Minder dan zeven jaar later kwam de opmerkelijke aankondiging dat de installatie zou worden ontmanteld.
Aardbeving in Haïti
HAARP wordt omgeven door complottheorieën. Zo denken velen dat HAARP de enorme aardbeving in Haïti in 2010 heeft veroorzaakt. Afgelopen zomer kondigde de luchtmacht aan dat HAARP zou worden gesloten.
De geheimzinnige installatie blijft echter operationeel en zal via de staat Alaska worden overgedragen aan de Universiteit van Alaska, die al lange tijd betrokken is bij het onderzoek. De staat pompt nog eens twee miljoen dollar in de site en naar verwachting zullen ook de National Science Foundation en het Pentagon een duit in het zakje doen.

What really happened during the Philadelphia Experiment?
Popularized by the 1984 film, a bizarre low-budget sequel, and a 2012 Syfy channel movie, tales of the Philadelphia Experiment involves covert U.S. Navy operations that led to time travel, teleportation, and mangled flesh.
According to urban legends, two separate and completely different Philadelphia Experiments took place. Both, however, involved the same vessel, the USS Eldridge. What happened in each of these alleged experiments, and what evidence is there to support the rumors?
Two separate sets of bizarre events make up the “Philadelphia Experiment.” Both revolve around a Navy Destroyer escort, the USS Eldridge, with the events taking place on two separate days in the summer and fall of 1943.
In the first experiment, an alleged method of electrical field manipulation allowed the USS Eldridge to be rendered invisible on July 22, 1943 in the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. The second rumored experiment was the teleportation and small-scale time travel (with the ship sent a few seconds in the past) of the USS Eldridge from the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard to Norfolk, Virginia, on October 28, 1943.
Horrible tales of mangled seamen and sailors stuck within the metal of the USS Eldridge often accompany this experiment, with theUSS Eldrige reappearing seconds later in the waters around Philadelphia. Recitation of the events surrounding the second Philadelphia Experiment often include a cargo and troop transport vessel, the SS Andrew Furuseth. The lore of the second experiment claims those on board the Andew Furuseth viewed the USS Eldridge and it’s crew as they teleported into Norforlk momentarily before the ship returned to the waters of Philadelphia.
Prior to the mid-1950s, no rumors of bizarre activity surrounded any teleportation or invisibility experiments in North America during the 1940s, let alone in the area surrounding Philadelphia.
Carl Meredith Allen, using the alias Carlos Miguel Allende, sent a series of letters to astronomer and writer Morris K. Jessup. Jessup authored several early UFO books including the mildly successful The Case For The UFO. Allen claimed to be on the SS Andrew Furuseth during the second experiment, witnessing the USS Eldridge emerge in the waters of Norfolk and quickly disappear into thin air.
Carl Allen supplied no proof to verify what he claimed to witness on October 28, 1943. He did win the mind of Morris Jessup, who began to champion Allen’s view of the Philadelphia Experiment. Jessup, however, died four years after his first contact with Allen from an apparent suicide.
Moving a ship weighing several thousands tons leaves an inevitable paper trail. On the date of the Philadelphia “Invisibility” Experiment, July 22, 1943, the USS Eldridge had yet to be commissioned. The USS Eldridge spent the day of the alleged teleportation experiments, October 28, 1943, safely within a New York harbor, waiting to escort a naval convoy to Casablanca. The SS Andrew Norfolk spent October 28, 1943, sailing across the Atlantic Ocean en route to the Mediterranean port city of Oran, further discrediting Carl Allen’s comments.
And in the early 1940s, the Navy did conduct experiments to make naval vessels “invisible” in the Philadelphia Naval Shipyards, but in a different manner and with a completely different set of desired results.
In these experiments, researchers ran an electric current through hundreds of meters of electrical cable around the hull of a ship to see if they could make the ships “invisible” to underwater and surface mines. Germany deployed magnetic mines in naval theatres — mines that would latch on to the metal hull of ships as they came near. In theory, this system would make the ships invisible to the magnetic properties of the mines.
Sixty years later, we are left without a shred of credible evidence for the Philadelphia Experiment(s), yet rumors persist. If you are still unconvinced, think of the situation from a different viewpoint. No incident, regardless of the horrific nature, would stall development of teleportation technology if the military believed it feasible. Such a resource would be an invaluable front line weapon in war and the backbone of many commercial industries, yet decades later, teleportation is still caged within the realm of science fiction.
In 1951, the United States transferred the Eldrige to the country of Greece. Greece christened the ship the HS Leon, using the vessel for joint U.S. operations during the Cold War. The USSEldridge met an unceremonious end, with the decommissioned ship sold to a Grecian firm as scrap after five decades of service.
In 1999, fifteen members of the USS Eldridge crew held a reunion in Atlantic City, with the veterans bemoaning the decades of questioning surrounding the vessel they served on.
If you follow UFO’s, or NASA, or Planet X/Nibiru, then you already know there is tremendous amounts of evidence not only of extraterrestrial life exists, but also that many world governments (including out own) are well aware of that fact and may very well be in contact with them. This is the point where many people tune out, and label you a “Conspiracy Nut” or something of the sort. Yep, and the laughed at anyone who thought the world was round too, or that the Earth went around the sun. How did that work out?
If you look into Planet X, or Nibiru, or whatever you want to call it, there is MOUNTAINS of evidence it is real, dating back to roughly 1950. FACT: Before the discovery of what was eventually named Neptune in the 1840’s, astronomers of 175 years ago observed irregularities Uranus’ orbital path. Before we had people branded as “climate deniers,” or “conspiracy nuts,” and long before the world elites had the Internet to use as a method of mass ridicule within seconds for anyone not towing the mainstream line (by the way, you’re not a “climate denier” are you?), scientists DID realize there was a Planet X out there. They noted there must be something else in space past Neptune (obviously of enormous gravitational mass) that is pulling it out of orbit. Planets don’t move on their own. Ultimate that led to the discovery of the next planet, Uranus, which was thought be the cure. PROBLEM: We know TODAY, that Uranus is nowhere NEAR large enough be able to pull Neptune out of orbit. I am not saying Planet X is on a crash course for Earth and we’re all going to die. What I am saying is do your homework. I’m sold. Completely. I’ve seen enough video (including plenty leaked by NASA employees) that could not be any more clear it is visible from earth, from certain vantage points, at certain times. FACT: On Friday, May 14, 1954, numerous papers carry an interesting statement by retired Marine Corps Major Donald E. Keyhoe, who states the Earth is being circled by one or two artificial satellites. U.S. Government scientists at White Sands, NM, he added, were making an effort to locate and chart them, and determine origin. Whether UFOs are actually alien crafts or not, they’re extremely interesting to think about. No one knows exactly what they are (hence the name), but there sure are plenty of theories.
Theories like these range from believable, to terrifying, to laughably entertaining.
1. The Black Knight Satellite
Last week, we went in-depth into just what the Black Knight Satellite is (or what it could be). The short version is that the Black Knight is a large satellite that’s believed to have been orbiting Earth for the last 300,000 years. No one knows how it got there, but it’s been detected by NASA multiple times.
2. John F. Kennedy Killed By CIA
The only thing that conspiracy theorists love more than speculating about UFOs is speculating about JFK’s assassination. According some to theorists, just ten days before he was killed in Dallas, President Kennedy demanded “full disclosure” from the CIA regarding their investigations into unidentified flying objects. He also ordered the agency to share all of their UFO data with NASA. To avoid having to disclose their alleged links to UFOs, the CIA had Kennedy killed.
3. The Hologram Plan
This one is weird. In 2009, a strange, blue light formed in the night sky over Norway. While the explanation is likely meteorological, conspiracy theorists declared it to be a failed attempt at implementing Project Blue Beam. The theory goes that the “New World Order” plans to show a holographic projection simulating an alien invasion as a means to seize power. Clearly, they are still working out the kinks in their plan.
4. Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 vs. UFO
Theories abound about the mysterious disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370. The most interesting one claims that it was abducted by a UFO. The proof that believers offer for this particular theory is that the Malaysian air force detected an unidentified flying object on their radar just before the plane disappeared. If that’s true, this theory would account for the lack of physical debris usually found in the event of a plane crash.
5. America’s Hidden Space Fleet
While the United States has one of the most sophisticated terrestrial militaries in the world, when it comes to space warfare, we’re woefully unqualified. Or are we? According to some theorists, NASA’s mission for space exploration is merely a front. Their real purpose is to build and maintain a fleet of interstellar war ships that are in orbit above Earth as we speak. The evidence offered for this supposed space fleet is a cryptic reference to something called the Solar Warden Program in a leaked document from the U.S. State Department.
6. 2012 Olympic Alien Invasion
The 2012 Olympic Games were a triumph of human achievement. However, if you were a UFO conspiracy theorist, it was anything but. According to these folks, the 2012 Olympic mascots somehow conveyed a hidden message about an impending alien invasion. Instead of rooting for their home teams, theorists were busy stocking their emergency bunkers. When the invasion didn’t happen, it was, of course, classified as a conspiracy. This time, the perpetrators were the Free Masons.
7. Alien Jesus
One of the most widely circulated UFO conspiracy theories out there is that Jesus was actually an alien. This one falls into the Ancient Aliens category of conspiracies. While it seems far out, it would explain pretty much all of Jesus’s miracles.
8. Nazi UFOs In Antarctica
In 1946, America mounted a large, unprecedented expedition to Antarctica. The official reason was to beat the Soviets there. However, Nazi supporters maintain that the expedition was mounted to destroy a secret Nazi UFO base located there. The theory continues, saying that the “attack force” was repelled by the superior Nazi technology. In reality, bad weather forced the expedition to make a hasty return.
9. General MacArthur vs. Aliens
During a 1955 speech, General MacArthur is said to have made a comment about Earth-wide war against aliens. He urged the world to unite because the next great war could be a battle for Earth’s very survival. Conspiracy theorists believe this was a reference to some specific knowledge that MacArthur had about the existence of aliens.
10. NASA Sent Astronauts To Another Planet
While humans have only officially visited the moon, UFO theorists believe humanity has gone much farther. They claim that a dozen astronauts were sent to a planet 37 light-years away called Serpo during the Kennedy administration. They were part of an exchange program implemented by grateful aliens who were saved after their spacecraft crashed in Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947.

A Dexter woman does after seeing what she believed to be saucer-like flying objects in the night sky over her home recently. The only problem with her theory is that it was the Fourth of July — a time for all kinds of objects to be lighting up the skies overhead. Anita Barnes, however, is convinced, as are her mother and her husband, that what they witnessed on the night of the Fourth, did not resemble any fireworks they’ve ever witnessed. “It was about 9:30,” Barnes explains, “and my husband called in to me to come outside and see what was flying overhead.” One of the objects sighted, she said, was what is typically described as a flying saucer, a round lighted object with a sort of outside slope or ring around the middle. Barnes went inside her home to retrieve her cell phone and was able to take several photos of the sightings, that continued until nearly midnight. Barnes lives on the far west end of West St. Francis Street. Her mother, who lives on Bain Street, witnessed the same sights.
Some of the objects, Barnes explained, had colorful lights circling their outer rims. “There were eight at time, one right behind the other,” Barnes said. She said the objects were going in a south to northwestern direction over her house. “At one point, two of them had come back toward my house. Then they disappeared, and then the single white light saucers just came out of nowhere for hours.” Until the sightings on the Fourth, Barnes noted she was “always kind of negative” regarding the theory of flying saucers and UFOs. “I was really amazed,” she said. “I have never seen anything like what I saw that night. Every time I would see one coming, I’d get my phone and try to get a picture of it. I was very excited.” While most of the photos on Anita Barnes’ phone are cloudy and distant, one in particular stands out. The object (pictured herein) shows the image that most describe when describing a UFO — the bright light and ring around it. Barnes said she has since heard that there were also sightings in the Bernie area, but in part because of the date, didn’t report them to any news agency or media outlet.
KENS NOTE: Alien craft love fireworks. It would be natural for these alien people to be curious about these strange lights in the sky.

Astronomen hebben een uniek systeem ontdekt van twee sterren waarbij de ene de andere ‘opslokt’. De ontdekking is veelbelovend voor een beter begrip van het uitdoven van sterren.
'Het is de eerste keer dat we een witte, supercompacte dwergster zien die gas steelt van een andere ster door ze op te slokken', zegt de Universiteit van Cambridge, die de studie leidt.
Het binaire systeem, genaamd Gaia14aae, ligt op ongeveer 730 lichtjaren in het sterrenbeeld Draak. De satelliet Gaia van het Europees Ruimtevaartagentschap stelde in augustus 2014 vast dat de twee sterren vijf keer helderder worden in 24 uur tijd.
Volgens de astronomen is de plotse helderheid te wijten aan het feit dat de witte dwerg - die zo compact is dat een koffielepel van zijn materie het gewicht heeft van een olifant - zijn tegenhanger opslokt, hoewel die groter is dan haar. Het effect van de zwaartekracht van de witte, zeer compacte dwerg is zo sterk dat het zijn tegenhanger dwingt om dichterbij te komen.
De astronomen weten niet of de witte dwerg zijn partner volledig zal verslinden. Een andere mogelijkheid is dat ze een supernova zal veroorzaken, een gigantische explosie de dood van een ster markeert.

Een onderzoeker die door het Britse ministerie van Defensie werd ingehuurd om vast te stellen of aliens de aarde bezoeken, zegt dat hoge ambtenaren binnen het ministerie foto’s van een echte UFO hebben achtergehouden. De foto’s zouden op mysterieuze wijze zijn verdwenen.
De onderzoeker, Nick Pope, claimt dat het ministerie de foto’s in 2009 had moeten vrijgeven, maar dat is nooit gebeurd. In augustus 1990 liepen twee wandelaars door de Schotse Hooglanden toen ze plotseling een ruitvormige UFO boven het landschap zagen zweven.
Ze bleven 10 minuten kijken en maakten zes foto’s, voordat het object wegvloog. Het tweetal zei dat legertoestellen gedurende de waarneming laag overvlogen. Op de foto’s is één van deze vliegtuigen te zien.
De wandelaars stapten met de foto’s naar de Scottish Daily Record, die de foto’s en de negatieven opstuurde naar het ministerie van Defensie. Experts kwamen tot de conclusie dat de foto’s echt waren. Niemand had enig idee wat het was.
Een foto van het object hing enige tijd aan de muur in het kantoor van Pope. Op een dag kwam zijn chef binnen om de foto mee te nemen. Toen het ministerie de eerste UFO-files vrijgaf was er geen spoor meer van de foto. Bewijs voor het bestaan van de foto was ook uitgewist.
De Scottish Daily Record heeft de foto’s nooit gepubliceerd. “Ik kan alleen maar aannemen dat het ministerie de krant opdracht heeft gegeven hier geen aandacht aan te besteden,” zei Pope. De wandelaars zijn nooit opgespoord.
In juli 1996 stelde parlementslid Martin Redmond vragen over de verdwenen foto’s. Het ministerie antwoordde dat de negatieven zijn onderzocht door medewerkers, maar niet zijn opgeslagen. Uit interne stukken blijkt echter dat de waarneming zo serieus werd genomen dat er een memo was opgesteld voor het geval er vragen zouden komen van journalisten.
In de memo stond onder meer dat er niets bekend was over Harriers die in het gebied opereerden ten tijde van de sighting en dat er moest worden gezegd dat de herkomst van het grote ruitvormige object onbekend was.
De Britse zender Channel 5 besteedt vanavond aandacht aan de waarneming.

A UFO, short for unidentified flying object, is an anomaly that is being observed over the surface of the earth, and that is not immediately identifiable to the viewer of the object. There are thousands of people from around the world who view strange objects hovering in the sky each day. However, this does not mean it saw something that they never saw before.
But what makes this story different? Even though several witnesses have already seen the triangular shaped object, UFO enthusiasts have gone crazy over pictures of massive floating cigar-shaped and triangular spacecraft objects over the Arctic. The photo was taken in 1971. The pictures were supposedly taken by sailors, but have remained as a mystery until now. The alleged photos were already circulated online by Alex Mistretta (paranormal investigator) and The Black Vault (UFO Site).
Due to these incredible photos, Nigel Watson says that such photos have made researchers from scratching their heads and have been speculating if aliens are based in Arctic regions. Since 1896, cigar-shaped or airship craft were being reported. The incident happened when the great wave of ‘phantom airship’ sightings was reported throughout the USA. When Benjamin F. Trueblood had a polar expedition in 1908, the Eskimos he met were keen to talk about airship sighting. In fact, they described it as a cigar-shaped dirigible balloon that is sailing over the Greenland.
In the last few decades, the triangular craft have been commonly seen. Among the places were West Midlands and Dudley. One witness claimed to have seen three orange lights in a triangle formation. Such formation was not an equilateral triangle, but more of an isosceles triangle.

1. Vulkaan op Heardeiland, Australië
Heard is een onbewoond, onherbergzaam eiland in de Zuidelijke Oceaan. Het eiland is genoemd naar James Heard, een robbenjager die het eiland in 1853 voor het eerst in het oog kreeg. Op het eiland ligt Mawson Peak, een 2745 hoge actieve vulkaan. Het is de hoogste top van Australië.
2. Slangeneiland, Brazilië
Ilha da Queimada, bijgenaamd Slangeneiland, ligt voor de kust van Brazilië en is de thuisbasis van duizenden Golden Lancehead Vipers. Deze slangen behoren tot de meest giftige ter wereld. Er zouden liefst vijf van deze dieren op elke vierkante meter zijn te vinden. Jarenlang was de enige menselijke bewoner een vuurtorenwachter, maar inmiddels is het verboden het eiland te betreden.
3. North Sentinel Island, Andamanen
Dit kleine eiland heeft een oppervlakte van 72 vierkante kilometer en valt bestuurlijk gezien onder de Andamanen. De inheemse bevolking bestaat uit Sentinelezen, die elk contact met andere mensen weigeren en behoren tot de laatste groepen geïsoleerde volkeren ter wereld die nog niet zijn beïnvloed door de moderne beschaving.
4. Grotten van Lascaux, Frankrijk
Deze grotten liggen in het Franse departement Dordogne. In 1940 werden in de grotten een groot aantal rotstekeningen ontdekt, die zijn gedateerd op 15.000 tot 10.000 voor Christus. Het is de rijkst beschilderde prehistorische grot die tot nu toe is ontdekt. Sinds 2008 zijn de grotten gesloten voor publiek omdat ze worden bedreigd door schimmels.
5. Poveglia, Italië
Dit kleine eiland is gelegen tussen Venetië en Lido. Volgens sommigen zou het een ‘spookeiland’ zijn. In de Romeinse tijd werd het gebruikt als isolatieplaats voor vele duizenden slachtoffers van de pest. Ook toen Europa werd getroffen door de zwarte Dood diende het eiland als plek om slachtoffers te isoleren van de buitenwereld. De overheid zette het eiland vorig jaar in de verkoop.
6. Vaticaans Geheim Archief, Vaticaanstad
Dit is de centrale bewaarplaats van alle akten die zijn uitgevaardigd door de Heilige Stoel. Het grootste deel daarvan wordt bewaard in een betonnen kubus die de bunker wordt genoemd. In totaal wordt er nu zo’n 85 kilometer aan archiefstukken bewaard. Het archief is alleen toegankelijk voor geleerden van naam en faam.
7. Grote schrijn van Ise, Japan
Dit is een complex van Shintoschrijnen in de Japanse stad Ise. De grote schrijn is één van de heiligste en belangrijkste plekken binnen het Shintoïsme. Toegang tot de locatie is sterk aan banden gelegd. Bezoekers mogen doorgaans niet meer zien dan de daken van de centrale gebouwen. De hogepriesters en –priesteressen van de grote schrijn van Ise moeten traditiegetrouw afkomstig zijn uit de Japanse keizerlijke familie.
8. Area 51, Nevada
Dit is een militaire basis van de Amerikaanse luchtmacht in de Nevadawoestijn. In de volksmond wordt Area 51 ook wel Dreamland genoemd. De basis is door UFO-onderzoekers vaak genoemd als locatie waar de Amerikaanse overheid buitenaardse wezens verborgen zou houden. In 2013 heeft de CIA geheime documenten vrijgegeven waarin de basis als Area 51 wordt beschreven.
9. Graftombe van Qin Shi Huang
Qin Shi Huang wist gedurende zijn relatief korte bewind grote koninkrijken rondom een rivier in China te verenigen tot één rijk en wordt daarom gezien als de eerste keizer van China. Bij de bouw van zijn mausoleum werden naar schatting 700.000 arbeiders ingezet, ruim twee keer zoveel als bij de Chinese Muur. Het mausoleum ligt als een paleis onder een 76 meter hoge grafheuvel. Wonderbaarlijk genoeg is de tombe waarin Qin moet liggen nooit geopend.
10. Wereldzaadbank, Spitsbergen
De wereldzaadbank bevat zaden van zoveel mogelijk rassen van gewassen. De opslagplaats, ook wel omschreven als een Doomsday-vault of een ark van Noach, wordt grotendeels betaald door de Noorse overheid. De zaadbank bevindt zich 120 meter diep in een berg vlak bij de plaats Longyearbyen. Alleen enkele medewerkers mogen bij de zaadbank naar binnen.

Deze week is de sonde New Horizons het dichtst langs Pluto gescheerd. De eerste beelden van de dwergplaneet maken veel los op sociale media. De NASA onthulde tijdens een persconferentie de eerste scherpe foto’s van Pluto en zijn grootste maan Charon.
De wetenschappers van de ruimtevaartorganisatie waren zichtbaar opgewonden. “Het systeem van deze dwergplaneet is fantastisch,” zei de leider van het onderzoeksteam Alan Weaver.
“Pluto bestaat niet”
Niet iedereen gelooft in de echtheid van de missie. Op internet laten steeds meer complottheoretici van zich horen. Volgens hen is er helemaal geen sonde bij de dwergplaneet geweest en verspreidt NASA alleen maar leugens. “Vinden jullie het leuk om dat soort nepfoto’s te plaatsen?” aldus een twitteraar. “Word wakker Amerika, ook hierover wordt gelogen!”
Er wordt zelfs beweerd dat Pluto niet bestaat. Iemand heeft op YouTube een filmpje geplaatst waarin wordt gesteld dat Pluto alleen in Disneyland bestaat en dat de beelden zijn bedoeld om ons onwetend te houden over wat er buiten de aarde gebeurt. “De ruimtesonde New Horizons staat waarschijnlijk ergens in een studio in Burbank,” klinkt het.
Illuminati
Weer iemand anders legt uit dat Pluto is bedacht door de Illuminati: “Elk hemellichaam dat vanaf de aarde niet met een telescoop kan worden gezien is nep. Dit suggereert dat Pluto is bedacht door de Illuminati. Decennia later gebruikte de Illuminati de NASA en het Sovjet-ruimteagentschap om hoaxes zoals Pluto te bedenken.”
Er zijn ook mensen die geloven dat de foto’s die NASA van Pluto heeft gemaakt echt zijn, maar dat de ruimtevaartorganisatie de aanwezigheid van aliens en gebouwen aan het oppervlak van de dwergplaneet verdoezelt.
Een veel gehoorde opmerking van mensen die voor de eerste keer de vreemde UFO wolken in de lucht zien hangen.
Zoals dit gebeurde in het Ierse Dublin, maar ook dichterbij huis in België.
Enkele dagen geleden schreven wij een artikel over hoe UFO wolken het Canadese dorp Terrace deden opschrikken.
Dat dit eigenlijk standaard wordt afgedaan als zogenaamde lenswolken.
Ditzelfde gebeurde enkele weken geleden ook in het Ierse Dublin, waar in een vrijwel wolkeloze hemel een aantal vreemde UFO-wolken verschenen.
Dit is wat inwoners van Dublin zagen:
Er worden mooie plaatjes geschoten, alle mainstream bladen publiceren erover en zeggen er grinnikend bij dat het toch wel jammer is dat het allemaal niets met buitenaardsen te maken heeft.
Dat zouden ze ook zeggen bij de vreemde bewegende UFO-wolk met lichten boven New York, zoals wij onlangs schreven.
Wat je wel hoorde in Dublin waren commentaren van mensen over dat ze nog nooit iets dergelijks hadden gezien.

Gisteren Dinsdag, 14 Juli las ik op jullie site wederom een interessant artikel omtrent de UFO wolken.
Niet enkel overzees of over exotische landen tonen deze wolken zich…
Verleden jaar op 26 Juni trok een dergelijke wolkenvloot, met hiervan een paar prachtige exemplaren, over Gent.
Op een paar foto’s bemerkte ik achteraf (op beeldscherm) enkele snel bewegende stippen die hoogstwaarschijnlijk aan de wolkenactiviteit kunnen worden gerelateerd.
Dit jaar bemerkte ik ook een dergelijke wolk boven Overmere waarbij hetzelfde fenomeen zich voordeed.

Op de volgende foto’s is naast de wolk duidelijk een UFO waar te nemen.
Wolken of UFO moederschepen in vermomming? Deze discussie zal voorlopig nog wel even worden gevoerd omdat er uiteraard ook altijd vreemd uitziende wolken zullen zijn die geen vermomde UFO huisvesten.
Wanneer afwijkende wolken verschijnen en/of zich vreemd door de lucht bewegen of zich omringen met kleinere UFO’s dan hebben we waarschijnlijk te maken met UFO moederschepen in camouflage. Sommige wolken lijken ook al dimensieportalen te fungeren.
