Interesting Facts About UFOs & Aliens

Unidentified flying object (commonly abbreviated as UFO or U.F.O.) is the popular term for any aerial phenomenon whose cause cannot be easily or immediately identified by the observer. The United States Air Force, which coined the term in 1952, initially defined UFOs as those objects that remain unidentified after scrutiny by expert investigators, though the term UFO is often used more generally to describe any sighting unidentifiable to the reporting observer(s). Popular culture frequently takes the term UFO as a synonym for alien spacecraft. Cults have become associated with UFOs, and mythology and folklore have evolved around the phenomenon. Some investigators now prefer to use the broader term unidentified aerial phenomenon (or UAP), to avoid the confusion and speculative associations that have become attached to UFO. Another widely known acronym for UFO in Spanish, French, Portuguese and Italian is OVNI.

1) There are an average of 70,000 reported UFO sightings every year, worldwide.
That’s an average of 192 per day.

2) No UFO has ever been tracked on radar entering the Earth’s atmosphere.

3) 1 in 5 Americans believe in alien abductions. Interestingly, males are more likely to believe in abductions than females.

4) 1 in 7 Americans say that they, or someone they know, have had an “encounter" with a UFO.

5) According to some UFO aficionados, the Men in Black (MIBs) really do exist, and have been hammering on the doors of alien witnesses ever since the first appearance of flying saucers in 1947.

6) Title 14, Section 1211 of the Code of Federal regulations, implemented on July 16, 1969, make it illegal for U.S. citizens to have any contact with extraterrestrials or their vehicles?

7) Kenneth Arnold Sighting (1947) – Washington, United States
Just before 3 o’clock in the afternoon, Kenneth Arnold, a private pilot and a fire control equipment salesman from Boise, Idaho, was taking a flight over the Cascade Mountains looking for the remains of a lost C-46, over which there was a $5,000 reward being offered.

Arnold did not find the missing aircraft but he saw a bright flash of light and spotted nine brilliant objects, with the lead object a little higher than the rest, moving south toward Mount Rainer. He calculated their speed at 1,700 miles per hour which was an impossible speed. The main object looked like a dark crescent; the other eight objects were flat and disc-shaped. Arnold estimated their chain length to be five miles long. They disappeared soon after. A new era of unidentified flying objects began after this widely publicized sighting in the United States. In fact, it was his descriptions that gave rise to the now common terms “flying disk” and “flying saucer.”

8) No discussion on UFOs is complete without mentioning Roswell. It is considered to be the bread and butter of Ufology, and the heart of UFO studies for long. The news spread worldwide about the first alien craft crash. It was considered as the long awaited proof of extraterrestrial intelligence. The Air Force announced being in possession of the flying saucer but later denied, saying it was a weather balloon.

Years later, there was talk of military cover up of an actual UFO crash. A large area
filled with debris from wreckage was discovered and the material found was unfamiliar and metallic, unlike anything seen before. Although, theories are composed of conflicting accounts, there were some facts that were clear.
Something huge had crashed near Corona. Rumors had it that witnesses were threatened if they revealed what they saw. There were too many witnesses who claimed to have seen alien bodies. There is also enough evidence that autopsie were done on an alien body.

9) One of the most interesting and convincing cases is the abduction of Betty and Barney Hill. The couple was driving home at night on Interstate Route 3 in New Hampshire after a short vacation in Canada, when they noticed a while light in the sky.

Barney got out of the car to look at the object through his binoculars. The light got closer and it looked like a pancake shaped object with windows revealing occupants. They got scared and went back home and realized they had lost a couple of hours without them realizing it.

Betty started having nightmares about aliens and Barney had severe back. A respected psychiatrist in Boston, Massachusetts, felt they were suffering from anxiety syndrome and put them both under hypnosis.

He was convinced that they were abducted by the aliens. During the hypnosis sessions, both revealed separately that they were abducted by bald aliens about five feet tall, green skin and large heads. They said their skin, nail and hair samples were taken. Betty said they inserted a long needle into her naval, which they said was a pregnancy test and Barney had to provide a semen specimen.

One aspect of this investigation that cannot be explained to this day is that in 1963, Betty Hill drew a very detailed map of a star system that was only discovered later in 1969. She said she was shown this map by the aliens.
Astronomers at Ohio State University compared their computer generated map with this one and both were completely alike.

Skeptics point out the inconsistencies, including the aliens speaking to Betty in English while Barney said they used some sort of telepathy.

Now, more than forty years later, it could not be proved that it was a hoax.

10) Philip Spencer, a policeman in London, moved to Ilkley Moor after leaving his job. While getting some photographs of the moor, he heard a humming sound and saw a small green creature, around four feet tall. That creature moved away quickly and when Spencer shouted, it turned and waved an arm dismissively,
which is when Spencer said he took this photograph. It moved faster than a human.
He followed it and saw a huge silver saucer disappear into the clouds. He realized the humming sound was from the saucer.

Later, he realized that he lost more than two hours of his time and his compass also went haywire. The picture was shown to a UFO researcher and a thorough investigation started. Wildlife photography experts and Kodak laboratories revealed that it was no animal and that the object was indeed part of the photo and not superimposed.

Spencer started having weird dreams and under hypnosis, he revealed a fascinating tale of being abducted by an alien and taken aboard the craft and given a medical examination before being released. Spencer could now remember that the picture was taken after his release from the UFO.

One thing that makes the researchers confident that Spencer may not have set the whole thing up was due to the fact that he never wanted publicity or money.

11) The Alien Named “Aleshenka” (1996) – Kashtim, Russia
This is a compelling account of an Alien body from Russia. An elderly woman in the village of Kashtim saw a small creature near the Ural Mountains, and the creature was whistling to catch her attention. She took it home. The creature had skin that was gray with dark brown spots on the head. There was no hair, small holes in place of ears, small and flat nose, long fingers with sharp claws, a tiny hole in place of a mouth and no lips. The old woman nursed it back to health.
After a couple of weeks, the woman was hospitalized for a psychiatric problem and left her companion at home without food.

Later, the dead body of the being that measured 8 ½ inches in length was found by the police. After testing, doctors claimed that the creature is not could not have been a child.

The body was handed over to Galina Semenkova, head of a UFO expert organization. Galina later said that aliens from a flying saucer demanded the body and she gave it to them.

However, the whereabouts of Aleshenka’s remains are a mystery to this day.
Have the aliens really taken it back? Is the mummy under research in some laboratory?

There are several controversies surrounding UFOs. While proponents feel that UFOs are vehicles from other dimensions; skeptics propose the psychological-social hypothesis. There is even the man-made craft hypothesis by some who feel they are nothing but American or Russian aircraft. Fact or Fiction?

12) The first documented UFO sighting is in the Bible. The prophet Ezekiel described a “great cloud with fire enfolding itself, a wheel in the middle of a wheel that descended and fired lightning bolts into the earth.”

13) The first photograph of a UFO was taken in 1883 by astronomer Jose Bonilla in Zacatecas, Mexico.

14) Alexander Hamilton reported a cow being kidnapped by an airship in Le Roy, Kan., in April 1897.

15) Winston Churchill reported a strange airship in Kent, England, Oct. 14, 1912.
It was the first case of a UFO being “officially” reported.

16) On Feb. 25, 1942, a large, dark object over the Los Angeles coastline was mistaken for a Japanese attack and drew a barrage of anti-aircraft fire.
Memos to President Roosevelt confirmed the existence of unidentified aerial objects.

17) UFOs were often seen and photographed during NASA’s space missions in the 1960s.

18) UFO sightings have been claimed by former President Jimmy Carter, Clyde Tombaough (the astronomer who discovered Pluto) and William Shatner (who claims to have been rescued by aliens who pointed him in the right direction when he was lost in the Mojave Desert).

Germany's parliament has been ordered to release confidential documents about UFOs after a lengthy legal battle.

The existence of the files was disputed as recently as 2008, but a UFO enthusiast discovered evidence to the contrary and pushed for their release.

News of the impending publication has been welcomed by UFO researchers, but some fear they may not be as exciting as hoped.

The German Supreme Administrative Court in Leipzig ordered the Bundestag to make the UFO files available.

In 2008, Dr Wolfgang Schäuble, Germany's Minister of the Interior denied that the German government had ever investigated UFOs, but in 2009, a UFO enthusiast named Robert Fleischer discovered a parliamentary department had been investigating extraterrestrial objects.

A German blogger named Frank Reitemeyer took the Bundestag to court over the secret reports and the dispute has only just been resolved,The Express reported.

No date for the release of information has yet been confirmed.

The British version of Roswell reportedly took place over Christmas in 1980. 

It occurred in Rendlesham Forest, which is next to RAF military bases. 

Soldiers reportedly saw unusual lights and when they investigated, found a metal object with coloured lights. 

But as they approached the 'craft', it moved away, frightening farm animals. 

The incident is unexplained, but some people say the lights were reflections from a nearby lighthouse and the craft may have been a secret weapon. 

On March 31, 1992, high speed white objects were spotted in the skies and an officer at RAF Cosford and Shawbury spotted a large triangular craft hovering at 200ft, which was humming and shining a spotlight. 

The incident was reported to the Ministry of Defence and sceptics say it could be explained by a nearby police tracking helicopter or a Russian rocket re-entering the atmosphere.

UFO enthusiasts are already looking forward to March, when the UK's Ministry of Defence will make 18 confidential UFO files available in the National Archive, although there's a chance they may not be accessible by the public.

Some paranormal investigators have greeted the forthcoming German release with enthusiasm, but Nigel Watson, author of the UFO Investigation Manual, said: 'They won't reveal any secrets about hidden alien technology or alien bodies, but then again we can always hope!'

Mr Watson believes some governments hide UFO-related information to protect other secrets.

'Sometimes governments hide information like this to protect operational procedures or protect non-UFO related secrets, like the capabilities of early warning systems or the names and details of witnesses,' he said.

'In this case perhaps they don't want to show they have taken this subject seriously, or that they are as much in the dark as everyone else.'

It was only in 2005 that the British government admitted conducting a thorough scientific study into UFOs, after years of denial.

'It concluded that unidentified aerial phenomena, or UAPs, do exist, but not flying saucers,' Mr Watson said.

'When, or if the German files are released, it will be interesting to see if they come to similar conclusions.

He told MailOnline: 'I doubt it [the information] will be anything related to the recovery of crashed saucers or clandestine meetings with aliens.

'It looks like much of their material is related to the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (Seti) and the implications of alien contact and whether this relates to UFO sightings in Germany.

'Then again there might be some surprises!'

Mr Reitemeyer told the Berlin Court in 2011: 'I want to know facts and it bothers me that in France, England, USA, Canada, the citizens can see the UFO files, and I am not informed as a German from my German government,' The Huffington Post reported.  

Mr Watson said the move 'shows that public pressure, and the work of activists, does eventually work to get these UFO 'secrets' released by Governments.

'In Britain, it literally took decades for most of the UFO files to be released.

'The demand for UFO information is such that governments are forced to respond and the internet is the ideal medium for making this material available, taking pressure off civil servants who have to deal with requests on a daily basis.'

When will we know we have found extraterrestrial life?

(Phys.org)—As we become more advanced in astronomy, continuously searching and finding lots of potentially habitable extrasolar planets that could harbor alien life, it seems that it's not a matter of if but when we will find extraterrestrial organisms. However, the real tough problem here is: How we could determine if the alien life has really been found? "The question is not so much 'when will we find extraterrestrial life?' But 'when will we know we have found extraterrestrial life?'" Terence Kee, the President of the Astrobiology Society of Britain told Phys.org. "My feeling is that we may indeed find signs of life in a few decades, but whether we will be unambiguously able to identify it as 'extraterrestrial life' - as opposed to terrestrial contamination or abiotic far-from-equilibrium processes - in such a short time-frame, I'm not so sure." 

Kee noted that we are able in any realistic sense to detect only life forms that have a terrestrial-based biochemistry, so we would probably bet on bodies that have liquid water and some form of geological free energy source. He puts his hopes on space probes looking at out-of-equilibrium gas distributions in exo-planetary atmospheres. However, any potential findings revealed by these probes would be only an indication, without the capability to definitively determine the existence of alien lifeforms.

We could also turn to meteorites in the ongoing search for E.T. and hope that these rocks came from a parent body that may have harbored life. If we're lucky, relics of life are contained within that sample and have not been destroyed. Kee surprisingly admits that luck is really the key condition here.

"As most of these relics are likely to have been fossilized in some way, we would need to cash in on some more luck so that we can demonstrate sufficient differences between such relics and potential abiotic mechanisms of formation on earth—chemical compositional differences, isotopic ratio's mineral morphologies or, most valuable perhaps, presence of specific molecules which could only be produced by biogenic processes, etcetera," he said.

The biggest challenge is to clearly identify if the life forms existed on the studied meteorites a long time prior to re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere. Before that is established, any new finding would be just a potential signature of extraterrestrial life. For example, in 2011, Richard B. Hoover, an astrobiologist of NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, claimed he had found the remains of living organisms from a parent celestial body in a rare class of meteorites, called CI1 carbonaceous chondrites.

"The complex filaments found embedded in the CI1 carbonaceous meteorites represent the remains of indigenous microfossils of cyanobacteria," Hoover claimed.

His team used Environmental (ESEM) and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) to analyze the meteorite samples, studying internal surfaces. For comparison, Hoover compared the samples to those of terrestrial minerals and biological materials.

Hoover's claims sparked controversy and NASA distanced from his conclusions, pointing out his lack of expert peer reviews. The findings were soon debunked after publication.

More recently, two scientists suggested that the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, which is studied by the European Space Agency's Rosetta spacecraft, hosts microbial alien life. The University of Buckingham's Chandra Wickramasinghe and his colleague, Max Wallis of the University of Cardiff, insist that the characteristic features on the comet, including a black, carbon-containing crust and underlying ice; large, smooth 'seas'; flat-bottomed craters and a surface peppered with mega-boulders, might only be explained by the presence of life.

But the last week's claims also sparked skepticism among other scientists specializing in the search for extraterrestrial life, debunking the newly presented hypothesis. The researchers rejecting the new findings emphasize that complex organics are generated in many places in the solar system through photochemistry and this is evidence for anything other than abiotic chemistry.

So far, we haven't found any convincing proof of alien life embedded in meteorites. However, Kee, undeterred by the long-lasting search and continuous skepticism, is looking to the future with hope.

"In order to receive Willy Wonka's Golden Ticket of Astrobiology, we would need to be ready to search as many meteorites as we can get hold of, which we already do. Overall, I reckon we would need to be lucky. But hey, many people have won the lottery. The trick is to keep buying the tickets," Kee concluded.

We Could Find Aliens Any Day Now: SETI Scientists Discuss Extraterrestrial Life Hunting

ET phone Earth! We could be on the verge of answering one of the essential questions of humanity that has captivated our minds for centuries. As we advance in technology the search for extraterrestrial life becomes more sophisticated and promising. But the real frosting on the cake would be finding any signs of an intelligent alien civilization. The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) project is looking carefully for these signs, listening to the Universe that may be full of potential ET signals. In an interview with astrowatch.net, key figures of alien life hunting discuss the ongoing search for extraterrestrial life. SETI’s Seth Shostak, Paul Shuch, Douglas Vakoch and Gerry Harp talk the odds of finding ETs, explain the famous “Wow!” signal received in 1977 and unveil the future of the search for aliens.

Astrowatch.net: When will we find extraterrestrial life? Will it take less than 20 years as some NASA scientists believe?

Seth Shostak: No one knows, obviously. But based on the speed of our SETI searches, I predicted five years ago, in a talk and a paper, that we could find a signal proving the existence of extraterrestrial intelligence within two dozen years. More recently, NASA says the same thing, but “life” not “intelligent life”. I suspect they’re betting more heavily on finding evidence of microbial life in the solar system.

Paul Shuch: I am less optimistic, short-term, though very hopeful, long-term. I believe SETI is a multigenerational enterprise. We have only had telecommunications technology and radio astronomy for less than an eye-blink, on the cosmic calendar.

Douglas Vakoch: There are three ways we could find life beyond Earth in the next twenty years. As we explore the planets and moons of our own solar system, we could find evidence of microbial life close to home. As our capabilities for detecting atmospheres of planets circling other stars improve, we might find support for life on those distant worlds. And as we use radio telescopes to look for signals from advanced civilizations through SETI, we could find the telltale signs of alien technologies. Of these three search strategies, only SETI has the potential for a discovery as early as tonight. With enough commitment and funding, any of the three approaches could succeed by 2035.

Gerry Harp: It might happen in less than 20 years. If I were to guess, I’d say there is a 50% chance that we will discover life elsewhere within 30 years from now. The first generation of planet-characterization telescopes in space may be coming on line in less than 20 years, but my guess is that life won’t be discovered until the second generation.

The other way life may be discovered is via SETI. Carl Sagan once famously estimated that there are one million transmitting civilizations in the galaxy. Taking this as a working hypothesis, we will be able to test this hypothesis within the next 10 years. I have little doubt that there are so many active civilizations in the galaxy, but again, we may need more sensitive telescopes than the ones we currently have or will have soon to find ET. So once again, I estimate that there is a 50% chance that life will be discovered via SETI in the next 30 years.

There is a substantial chance that within 30 years, we will find life by both methods.

Astrowatch.net: In your opinion, what was the famous “Wow!” signal? Was it really a signal from an alien civilization?

Shuch: That is one of two reasonable hypotheses. The other is that this was a previously undiscovered natural astrophysical phenomenon. Either possibility is exciting, but we are likely never to know which is the case.

Harp: The “Wow!” signal was almost certainly radio frequency interference. The signal failed to pass even the simplest tests to exclude interfering signals from that observation campaign. From another perspective, at the Allen Telescope Array (ATA), we see dozens of signals comparable to “Wow!” every day. This is simply because we have much more computational power than they did back when “Wow!” was seen. If the “Wow!” signal were seen today, it would be a yawn. However, there is a silver lining to the “Wow!” signal. “Wow!” has inspired a lot of public interest in SETI. Despite being a not very scientific result, public awareness of “Wow”! has been beneficial to SETI. So I generally think of “Wow!” as being a good thing from that perspective.

Shostak: We cannot say that “Wow!” had anything to do with extraterrestrial intelligence. I was searched for a bit over one minute after first being found, and was not detected again. It was a one-off, and could easily have been terrestrial interference. It’s not good science to make claims that this was due to extraterrestrial beings.

Vakoch: The “Wow!” signal had all the characteristics of a real signal from ET with one critical exception – it never repeated. Without this one essential requirement of science – that observations can be replicated – we have no basis for thinking it was really from an extraterrestrial civilization.

Astrowatch.net: Why the “Wow!” signal is so special? How much it differs from the other ordinary signals we receive every day?

Vakoch: In the SETI Institute’s ongoing search for radio signals from other civilizations, we find promising signals all the time. The critical difference is that we can immediately follow-up to see whether the signal is really coming from a distant star, or whether it’s caused by a satellite in Earth’s orbit or a radio transmitter on Earth. When the “Wow!” signal was detected in 1977, such real-time follow-up was impossible.

Shostak: It’s special because the name is appealing. There were more than 100 other types of signals back then, before we had equipment able to quickly follow up on signals.

Shuch: There are about a half a dozen tests that can be run on received signals to mark them as being of possible extraterrestrial origin. Many detections pass one or a few of these tests, and remain interesting SETI candidates. The “Wow!” signal was the first detection to pass all of the tests to which it was subjected. Of course, even that is not conclusive evidence, because there was no independent confirmation, a necessary condition for certainty.

Harp: It isn’t at all special or different from signals that we observe every day at the ATA. I hope you’re not disappointed that I’m not so impressed by the “Wow!” signal. I think you will find that many professional scientists in the field do not find the “Wow!” signal very convincing. But that doesn’t mean that SETI isn’t a good thing to do. There is still a 50% chance, by my estimates, that our first discovery of life off of our planet will be a discovery of a transmitting civilization.

Astrowatch.net: Do you think that we will receive similar signals in the future?

Shuch: We will in the future; we have in the past. We continue to see a few interesting candidates every year. The “Wow!” was merely the first such phenomenon to be observed, and then extensively sought in follow-on experiments. Until such time as they can be independently verified, all signals are enigmas.

Shostak: Less probable. Many SETI experiments, including ours, have the ability to “follow up” almost immediately. When you can do that, “Wow” type signals don’t seem to occur!

Harp: We see such signals all the time. To answer a different question, we do sometimes observe signals that look even more interesting, from our perspective, than “Wow!” Sometimes the signals that repeat – “Wow!” was not repeatable – that carry on for some time and then disappear. I wish I knew more about such signals, but if we can’t prove a signal really is ET, it is our duty to not make a big deal about it.

Vakoch: We receive promising candidate signals every night, but so far, they don’t repeat, so we have to assume they’re made by humankind.

Astrowatch.net: How close is SETI today to finding signals from an extraterrestrial civilization?

Vakoch: We could find a signal from extraterrestrials any day now. And the search will get better as technology advances. In the next twenty years, we should be able to look closely at about a million stars for signs of advanced civilizations, and that’s a large enough number to have a reasonable chance of finding intelligence in the cosmos, if it’s really out there and trying to make contact.

Harp: Although I am rather conservative about when we will find ET, there is always a chance we will find it today or tomorrow. We are observing with the ATA every day, 12 hours a day. It could happen any time.

Shuch: We are in the phase of developing hardware, software, and other tools for designing and conducting our experiments. We are still in our technological infancy.

Astrowatch.net: What needs to be done to better detect potential signals from ETs?

Shuch: We need to dramatically increase our coverage of the search space, by bringing online many more observing stations, monitoring a wider portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, operating around the clock, and coordinating among themselves to provide independent verification of candidate signals.

Shostak: The real problem is lack of adequate money to do the experiments.

Vakoch: SETI searches through the cosmic static, looking for signals that stand out from the background noise as distinctly artificial, signals that nature can’t create. We need a lot of computing power to sort through all that data. The good news is that computing power increases every year, so the normal trajectory of technological progress is on SETI’s side!

Harp: We need faster signal processing. The ATA is actually not sensitivity limited. We are limited by the large amount of so-called radio frequency interference in our observations. In order to find ET faster, we need to be able to process a larger number of candidate signals and this requires a lot more computational power. If I were king, I would upgrade the electronics at the ATA with a $10 million dollar analysis system to increase our observing speed one hundred-fold. Then we’d crank through observations of the entire sky and find ET in a lot less time.

He serves as Chair of both the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) Study Group on Interstellar Message Construction and the IAA Study Group on Active SETI: Scientific, Technical, Societal, and Legal Dimensions.

Gerry Harp is the Director of the Center for SETI Research. Most of his effort is still focused on doing SETI with the Allen Telescope Array (ATA), a radio interferometer telescope owned by the SETI Institute. The technical side of this work involves automated control of the ATA and ultra-high speed digital signal processing systems to isolate weak signals potentially from outer space, from the sometimes strong human-made signals all around us.

Boomerang Alien Craft Spotted Over New Jersey

I was driving south on Route 202/206 approaching the high voltage power lines south of I-78. I noticed a very low flying craft up ahead. It was gliding slowly eastbound and had large lights. About ten seconds later the craft came into sight again gliding westbound. I crossed paths with it. It came into view in front of me and I never took my eyes off of it as it glided by. I drove under it as it glided out of view of my windshield. It glided very slowly in my line of sight from left to right for about 4 seconds. I estimate it was about 500 ft off the ground and the “wing” span was at least 100ft. The front end was boomerang shaped. It had five large lights along the boomerang end, one at the tip, one at the center of each “wing” and one at the end of each “wing”. The lights were bright white but did not project any beam of light. I could tell that the craft was more than just a boomerang shape because it was very dark behind the white lights and there was one small blue-ish ring of light about 50ft behind the center white light. I heard no noise as it glided by. I pulled over hoping to see it in the distance but the area where I pulled over had many trees. I drew a sketch of it for my husband but have no way to scan if from home to attach.

The incredible images of Unidentified Flying Objects in the Arctic originated from the USS Trepang, SSN 674 in March, 1971.

 

The following case was made available thanks to John Greenewald from ”The Black Vault” who in turn received the incredible images from researcher Alex Mistretta.

 

 The photos here displayed are evidence of a ”close encounter” between forces of the United States Navy and Unidentified Flying Objects on the ”edge” of the Arctic Ocean in March, 1971.

 

These images were supposedly taken in March, 1971 from a United States Submarine, the USS Trepang (SSN-674), a Sturgeon-class attack submarine.

 

The official location where the sighting occurred was between Iceland and Jan Mayen island in the Atlantic Ocean. (Jan Mayen belongs to Norway, and is only inhabited by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute and the Norwegian military.)

 

The UFO sighting occurred by accident as the military was in the region on a routine joint military and ”scientific” expedition. According to reports, the officer who initially spotted the Unidentified Flying Object was John Kilika using the periscope.

 

So after looking at the images what are your thoughts? When I first looked at the images I was shocked. I have seen thousands of images of alleged UFOs throughout the years, while some of them cannot be explained in any way, some others are certainly fabricated images.

The images made available by Alex Mistretta have certainly puzzled me and seem authentic. Yet, they seem to resemble the movie ”Battleship” at the moment the giant alien ships which were submerged under the ocean, come out underneath the ocean and confront the military.

 

 The USS Trepang sighting will surely become one of the best recorded UFO sightings in history.

Let us know what you think about these images, do you think they are really depicting extraterrestrial vehicles? Or is it possible that another explanation, more ”human” can be attributed?

USAF Veteran witnessed a glowing amber pulsating ball floating in a field.  While driving my asthmatic wife at 0255 hours, during an asthmatic episode, to open up her lungs.  Myself…a USAF veteran, with 4 1/2 years of flight line experience, working night shift, viewing normal flight patterns, witnessed an amber pulsating ball floating in a field to the right of the road we were traveling.  The circular light was eye level with me driving my vehicle. The field was around 6 feet lower than the road I was traveling in a valley surrounded my forest.

The ball was glowing an amber color but pulsating light with small light glowing beneath it.  The light looked like a dim flame or my best description of it is it looked as if it was a reflection of light off a lake but in the air. To me it looked more like some kind of energy source over a physical object because of the unusual light it was emitting.  After questioning what we witnessed we turned around and confirmed our sighting. Because of my wife’s fragile condition, I was unable to park and investigate, and document, the sighting.

Topgeheime foto’s uit 1971 tonen ‘enorme UFO’s’ boven noordpoolgebied

Op internet wordt druk gespeculeerd over een aantal ‘gelekte’ UFO-beelden uit 1971. De foto’s zouden zijn gemaakt vanaf de onderzeeër USS Trepang, die op weg was van IJsland naar het eiland Jan Mayen.

Volgens sommigen zijn de foto’s bewijs voor geheime tests met vliegtuigen, terwijl anderen claimen dat het gaat om buitenaardse schepen die op zoek waren naar olie. De beelden zijn bestudeerd door Alex Mistretta, nadat ze in een Frans paranormaal tijdschrift waren verschenen, meldt de Black Vault.

Mistretta zei dat hij te horen had gekregen dat de foto’s zijn gemaakt vanaf een Amerikaanse onderzeeër die werd bestuurd door admiraal Dean Reynolds. Deze informatie lijkt te kloppen. Op één van de foto’s staat de tekst: ‘Officiële foto. Wordt niet vrijgegeven. CT’.

Reageerder Bill Smillie suggereerde dat alle foto’s hetzelfde object tonen en dat het in staat is om van vorm te veranderen. Schrijver Nigel Watson zei over de beelden: “Dit is een vreemde verzameling foto’s waarop UFO’s zijn te zien die regelmatig worden waargenomen door getuigen van over de hele wereld. Sigaarvormige objecten worden al sinds 1896 gemeld, toen er overal in de VS ‘spookluchtschepen’ werden gespot.”

“Ik weet niet of ze authentiek zijn,” zei Watson. “Ze hebben er wel toe geleid dat UFO-onderzoekers momenteel speculeren dat UFO’s een basis hebben in het poolgebied.”

“Het universum zit vol met gigantische verborgen zwarte gaten”

Röntgentelescoop NuSTAR van NASA heeft onlangs een aantal gigantische zwarte gaten ontdekt. Voorheen waren die aan het zicht onttrokken door stof en gassen.

Volgens wetenschappers van de Universiteit van Durham in Engeland zijn er miljoenen meer ‘superzware’ zwarte gaten in het universum dan eerder werd aangenomen. De vijf ontdekte zwarte gaten bevinden zich in het centrum van sterrenstelsels die op enkele miljoenen lichtjaren van de aarde staan.

Lange tijd hebben astronomen gedacht dat gas en stof superzware zwarte gaten niet aan het zicht konden onttrekken, maar dankzij NuSTAR zijn ze er voor de eerste keer in geslaagd deze verborgen monsters duidelijk te zien.

“We hebben er maar vijf gezien, maar als we de resultaten extrapoleren naar de rest van het universum, is het geschatte aantal enorm,” zei hoofdonderzoeker George Lansbury. NuSTAR bestaat uit twee telescopen die zijn bevestigd aan een satelliet. Omdat het instrument zich in een baan om de aarde bevindt, kan het veel scherper waarnemen dan telescopen op het aardoppervlak.

Het onderzoek is gepubliceerd in The Astrophysical Journal. De wetenschappers gaan NuSTAR nu gebruiken om meer superzware zwarte gaten in het hart van andere sterrenstelsels op te sporen.

Groot ruimteschip boven Mexicaanse vulkaan ( video )

Het verschijnen van grote sigaarvormige ruimteschepen boven vulkanen in Mexico is nog steeds heel bijzonder.

Al meerder malen is vastgelegd hoe dit soort schepen met grote snelheid de krater in duiken.

De Colima is een vulkaan in Mexico. Anders dan de naam doet vermoeden, ligt hij niet in de deelstaat Colima, maar vlak over de grens in Jalisco. De vulkaan heeft twee toppen. De Nevado de Colima is met 4330 meter de hoogste, maar is inactief. De Volcán de Colima ligt ten zuiden van de vorige, is 3830 meter hoog en erg actief. De afgelopen jaren zijn omwonenden regelmatig geëvacueerd wegens eruptiegevaar.

Op 4 juli werd er door de webcam van de Colimavulkaan een bijzonder grote sigaarvormige UFO vastgelegd.

We zeggen wel één, maar tegelijkertijd is er onderin het beeld nog een tweede te zien die de andere kant op schiet.

Naast deze vulkaan wordt ook de Popocatépetl vulkaan druk bezocht door UFO’s. Het is dan ook niet voor niets dat deze beide vulkanen worden genoemd door de Azteken als plaatsen waar de buitenaardsen wonen.

De lokale bevolking in de buurt van deze vulkanen gelooft dan ook dat de Azteken afstammelingen waren van deze buitenaardsen uit de vulkanen.

Oklahoma: News Broadcast Video Caught A UFO Streaking Across the Camera Screen

A UFO caught on video during an Oklahoma City morning news broadcast, and they are asking opinions from the viewers about the mysterious UFO’s identity.

A short 13 second video was posted by KOCO 5 News in Oklahoma City on the morning of March 12, 2015. It shows a mysterious bright object flying across the screen. The video was taken by a camera mounted at the top of Grand Casino, located just east of the city.

The news broadcast presented the live video feed from the Grand Casino camera to show traffic on nearby I-40. All of a sudden, a bright object appears across the screen at a blazing speed. It moves away the screen and off to the right. It seems flying nearby and luminescent the whole time.

The broadcasters seem not noticing the object in the video because they did not mention it. One broadcaster only mentioned about the live camera feed from Grand Casino and then went on to introduce their meteorologist.

It appears that KOCO staff did notice the object while shooting the scene and posted the video of the UFO on their website with the title “Caught on camera: UFO flying through the sky near Shawnee.”

The video description says that they caught a flying object on KOCO 5 News at 6 a.m. during a morning news broadcast. However, no other details included in the report.

Viewers suggested shooting stars, meteors, bugs, fireworks, aircraft, and aliens. One viewer wrote in the comment section that aliens have gambling addictions as well. As of this writing, no one suggested the video as a hoax, perhaps because the news station itself took the video.

Atmospheric mysteries unraveling

It's been difficult to explain patterns of toxic mercury in some parts of the world, such as why there's so much of the toxin deposited into ecosystems from the air in the southeastern United States, even upwind of usual sources. A new analysis led by researchers at the University of Colorado Boulder shows that one key to understanding mercury's strange behavior may be the unexpected reactivity of naturally occurring halogen compounds from the ocean.

"Atmospheric chemistry involving bromine and iodine is turning out to be much more vigorous than we expected," said CU-Boulder atmospheric chemist Rainer Volkamer, the corresponding author of the new paper published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. "These halogen reactions can turn mercury into a form that can rain out of the air onto the ground or into oceans" up to 3.5 times faster than previously estimated, he said.

The new chemistry that Volkamer and his colleagues have uncovered, with the help of an innovative instrument developed at CU-Boulder, may also help scientists better understand a longstanding limitation of global climate models. Those models have difficulty explaining why levels of ozone, a greenhouse gas, were so low before the Industrial Revolution.

"The models have been largely untested for halogen chemistry because we didn't have measurements in the tropical free troposphere before," Volkamer said. "The naturally occurring halogen chemistry can help explain that low ozone because more abundant halogens destroy ozone faster than had previously been realized."

Volkamer is a Fellow of CIRES, the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences, at CU-Boulder and is an associate professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. For the new paper, he worked with scientists from the U.S., China, Denmark and England.

The international team relied on a differential optical absorption spectroscopy instruments (DOAS) that Volkamer's research group built to measure tiny amounts of atmospheric chemicals including highly reactive bromine oxide and iodine oxide radicals.

Those radicals are very short-lived in the air, and collecting air samples doesn't work well. DOAS uses solar light, measuring the scattering and absorption of sunlight by gases and particles to identify the chemicals' distinct spectroscopic fingerprints and to quantify extremely small amounts directly in the atmosphere.

Reactions involving those bromine and iodine radicals can turn airborne mercury--emitted by power plants and other sources--into a water-soluble form that can stay high in the atmosphere for a long time. High in the air, the mercury can sweep around the world. Towering thunderstorms can then pull some of that mercury back out of the atmosphere to the ground, lakes or oceans. There, the toxin can accumulate in fish, creating a public health concern.

Volkamer's team's measurements show that the first step in that process, the oxidation of mercury in the atmosphere by bromine, happens up to 3.5 times faster than previously estimated because of halogen sources in oceans. Their work may help explain a mystery: For many pollutants, thunderstorms can rain out the chemicals quickly, so by the end of the storm there's little left in the air. Not so for mercury. Volkamer said its concentration in rainwater remains constant throughout a storm.

"To some extent, because of these halogens, we have a larger pool of oxidized mercury up there," Volkamer said.

Naturally occurring bromine in air aloft illustrates the global interconnectedness between energy choices affecting mercury emissions in developing nations, and mercury deposition in the U.S.

Finally, the measurements will be helpful for climate modelers seeking to improve their understanding of halogen impacts on ozone and other greenhouse gases.
