Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

Wanneer je naar een typisch stukje Mars-landschap kijkt dan valt het op als daar ineens een paar vreemde figuren in voor komen.
Iets wat overduidelijk niet in het landschap thuishoort en geen natuurlijke objecten zijn.
Dat is wat te zien op de volgende NASA foto, gevonden door de inmiddels welbekende Streetcap1, waar een aantal figuren voorkomen op een foto die duidelijk niet natuurlijk zijn.
Wanneer je de volledige foto bekijkt dan steken die twee figuren aan de horizon wel erg vreemd af.
Het zijn geen objecten die daar natuurlijk thuishoren. Volgens kenners is de afstand tot de objecten ongeveer twee kilometer waardoor de hoogte van de figuren/objecten ongeveer drie tot vijf meter zal zijn.
Er zijn genoeg berichten over buitenaardsen van ongeveer die lengte dus dat zou een mogelijkheid zijn. Een andere is misschien een standbeeld of iets dergelijks.
De grote vraag is natuurlijk hoe NASA deze figuren zou verklaren. Ongetwijfeld zullen ze komen met een vuiltje op de lens of iets dergelijks.
Het aantal voorwerpen, figuren en gebouwen die de afgelopen jaren door speurders op de NASA foto’s zijn gevonden, zijn echter zo talrijk dat NASA onmogelijk voor allen een “logische” verklaring kan bedenken.
Wat dan nog maar eens aantoont dat het wemelt van leven op Mars.

Numbers of UFO sighting reports have been increasing conspiracy forums online, from flashing lights above Georgia to triangular craft above Texas.
Now UFO and alien hunters are creating a global database, hoping to provide people a simple way to report encounters with otherworldly beings.
The say that one of their primary objectives is to observe the type of technology used by these so-called advanced aliens with hopes to use it somebody to move mankind from Earth.
Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) created the tool to provide people easy access to evidence of space alien intruders.
Executive director of the California-based site, Jan Harzan, claims that the database could help scientists understand extra-terrestrial technology. Harzan says that based on thousands of observations they have made, advanced aliens are not using jet engines, propellers, rocket motors or large fuel tanks.
MUFON claims that it receives around 500 to 1,000 UFO sighting reports in a month from credible sources, such as military personnel, airline pilots, and former intelligence officers.
MUFON has almost 70,000 alleged UFO cases in its database, and it plans to expand the number by including all new cases, as well as those gathered before 2006.
The database will soon include information on the location of sightings, date, flight characteristics, colour, shape, and size.
News of the database comes just a few days after 12,000 encounters with UFOs from Project Blue Book files were made available online to the public. Project Blue Book files were previously available only by paying a visit to the National Archives in Washington.
This meteorite was captured on dashcam by Nine News cameraman, Gerard Price. The vision was shot at the junction of Charles Street and Scarborough beach road in North Perth last week.
Professor Phil Bland from Curtin University’s Department of Applied Geology said it was likely a “pretty big chunk of meteorite came down through the atmosphere, a little one you just don’t notice.”
“They hit the top of our atmosphere about 20km/second, so really fast, and I say big because for it to be this bright in the daylight to attract people’s attention like that, is must have been big.
Prof. Bland said it was rare for such a big chunk of rock to come to Earth. “They happen randomly throughout the year, they don’t match up with meteor showers or the tail of comet or something like that,” he said.
He said it was possible it has come to land because it appeared to be a big enough fireball for rock to not burn away.
However Prof. Bland said it would be difficult to track. “The light from a fireball, even a really big one, doesn’t get down lower than maybe 15km above the Earth and the fireball can often be separate from seeing the rock and it can land up to two minutes after the fireball’s gone out.
If you read the book “The Mothman Prophecies: A True Story” by John Keel or the movie “The Mothman Prophecies” with Richard Gere, you probably think you know about the Mothman, but the story has become nearly 75% urban legend and 25% original story. Let's try and sort the story out that began in 1966. Starting in 1966 in the small riverside town of Point Pleasant, West Virginia in the northern part of the state, a series of witness accounts of an unusual cryptid began to unsettle a quiet and beautiful community. The first reported sighting of the creature (described as man-sized with wings, and red eyes), was in 1966 when five men digging a grave saw it fly overhead. Just a few days later, two couples riding in a car at night stated a large white flying creature with glowing red eyes chased their car and had a 10-foot wingspan. They reported it flew off toward the old WWII munitions area, referred to by locals as the TNT Area. The following few days, more people reported seeing it including some firemen. It was explained away as a large heron bird. One local claimed he shined a light on it and it's huge red eyes glowed. Later, he said that other occurrences around his place were blamed on the creature including his missing dog.
The Sandhill Crane was the explanation (above). Understandably, at night it might appear white, the wingspan is impressive and might be estimated at 10 feet, and the eye area is red.
Barn owls have also been used as an explanation that could fit. I'm not sure how anyone could misinterpret a barn owl as a man with wings, but at least they are making attempts to find a real world explanation. People in later years have been quick to dismiss the entire incident because of later reports that came out by supposed witnesses long after the original incidents. They were brushed aside as hoaxes, misinterpretations, and blarney. One year later, in 1967, the Silver Bridge in Point Pleasant collapsed. Forty-six people died. In a mid 1970s book written by John Keel, the story of the Mothman takes a turn toward the concept of a harbinger of the coming disaster. The Mothman showed up in the town before the disaster and encounters increased, supposedly including the passage of information of a prophetic nature. This is very similar to the legend of the Bunnyman in Virginia. It began with a story of a man in a bunny suit killing people on lover's lane, morphed into an escaped mental patient hanging children from a bridge and eating rabbits in the woods as he lived in a feral manner. Over time, legends take on new interpretations and tellings. I have received reports from some people in West Virginia, in another area, that they had run into something that fits the description of the Mothman. There are still sightings reported today all over the world before incidents of significant occur, making even more believers in the concept Keel made popular in his book, that the Mothman was a prophet or harbinger. Sometimes, Native legends tell us of things they have encountered. The Cherokee of that region have many amazing legends including the Thunderbird.

Tlanuwa were a pair of immense raptors said to live in the caves of a high cliff just below the mouth of Citco Creek on the north bank of the Little Tennessee River in Blount County. According to legend, they flew up and down the river in search of prey, even coming into villages and carrying off dogs and small children. In one famous incident, Daniel Boone claimed to have seen a giant raptor on the Tennessee River near where the Cherokee claimed the Tlanuwa made its home.
The Thunderbird is one of the most dominant icons in Native American art. Descriptions of them have been faithfully recorded for centuries in totems, carvings, pottery, cave art, and in the ancient stories of Native Americans. The running bird-man themes run through many Native legends and makes one wonder if they had encountered such beings and how they might have interpreted these interactions. Julie Ferguson and I took a trek to Point Pleasant in 2013, curious about the location and as a psychic, a bit curious to feel it.
I expected to find some tourist shops and a statue, but not much more. Neither of us expected that, as we drove over the bridge, at the same exact moment, both our cameras died. The town was utterly charming. In fact, we got distracted driving up and down streets imagining which home we would want to live in. It is an isolated little slice of heaven. We got into the touristy main street and the statue to do the usual posing -
When talking with a shop owner, we got a better sense of the continuing excitement about the Mothman. He gave us a map to the TNT bunker area and we trekked out there, but as we started to hike in, the police found us.
It was probably just as well, parked along a very isolated roadway, we stood out like a sore thumb. What we did experience, however, was something we didn't expect. We stood around taking pictures of the pond and enjoying the woods, but they were utterly silent. Not even a cricket or bird. We looked at each other with big eyes as a shadow flew over us, blotting out the ground as it moved. It was silent, but it was like a plane blocking out the sun. I looked up, but nothing. My sense of being watched from a tree top was an odd perspective. I was not expecting to feel such intense feelings, but the land feels very ancient. I am not surprised it is unsettled. Although we left without inspecting the bunkers, we did both feel that the place had some interesting elements that seem to make for odd happenings. Was the Mothman still there if he had ever existed? Doubtful at this point. But, we never regretted seeing the town of Point Pleasant. Rt news is reporting that a jaw-dropping intense flash of a very bright white and blue light lit up the sky in southern Russian city of Stavropol at (21.39 GMT on Monday)

An inexplicable white-and-blue flash was spotted lighting up the sky over the southern Russian city of Stavropol. A dashcam video has since triggered a heated debate over the origins of the mysterious sight.
Stavropol’s horizon offered a jaw-dropping view to those who weren’t asleep at around 00:39 local time (21.39 GMT on Monday). The soundless flash of light scared several people, as it made some streetlights in the city go out, while being accompanied by the flickering of lights inside apartments and houses.
Local residents have come up with various theories to interpret the incident – military exercises that are currently taking place not far from the scene, faults in the electricity net, Northern Lights, an asteroid and even UFOs.
“I was very frightened by what I saw, I was already in bed. It looked as if something very bright lit up my ceiling,” a woman shared her experience on social media, Russian daily Argumenty i Fakty reported.
According to the Hydrometeorological Center of the city, the phenomenon “can’t be attributed to nature”– rather, it could be anthropogenic. The source of the light is thought to have been located somewhere on the ground.
However power engineers have rejected a version suggesting a fault in the power supply line leaving the public clueless about the nature of the mysterious flash.
Several more witnesses have come forward saying they also saw mysterious lights over the Leicester area in England, including an off-duty police officer.
In a previous story on OpenMinds.tv, we covered the sighting of two orbs seen by a woman in the town of Earl Shilton. She said that she heard noises at about 4:50 a.m. that caused her to get out of bed and investigate. Soon after she saw two orbs of light out of her window that she believed were over the nearby town of Barwell.
She says the two orbs combined and moved apart several times before shooting off into the distance. She caught a few seconds of video (seen above).

The story, and the subsequent investigation by a local UFO organization, the Leicestershire UFO Investigation Network (LUFOIN), was covered in a story in the Hinckley Times. In the story, UFO researcher Joanna Kavanagh said she and her colleagues would like to hear from anyone else who might have seen the UFO that night. According to a new story in the Hinckley Times, several new witnesses have come forward.
One of the new witnesses is a man in the nearby town of Hinckley. He says that he was walking his dog at around 5 a.m. when he saw two large illuminated spheres flying across the sky. He say they were totally silent and estimates they were at an altitude of 1000 feet. He said they looked similar to what the original witness caught on video, but he said he does not believe in UFOs.
A second witness is an Automobile Association – an organization similar to the AAA in the US – officer who was helping a motorist. He says the object moved back and forth across the road. He also said there was no sound and the objects seemed to hover for a period of time before flying off towards Earl Shilton.

The third new witness is a police officer who was off-duty when he spotted the objects. He says he watched them hover silently over the Barwell area for about a minute. He told the Hinckley Times that the objects did not resemble a normal aircraft.
Kavanagh says she is excited about the new witnesses. She says, “We are not sure at all what it could have been. It’s a very mysterious one.”
“We don’t think it could have been a Chinese lantern or a drone because they don’t move in that way,” Kavanaugh continued. “It’s very exciting. We have ruled out a lot of possibilities.”

The two orb-like unidentified objects were captured floating in the sky above Barwell, Leicestershire. A 41-year-old woman spotted the two balls of bright white light after strange noises woke her at 4.50 am on February 3, reports the Hinckley Times. She thought it was coming from downstairs so she got out of bed and went to see what it was. After finding nothing the woman went to make her way back to bed when she suddenly spotted the two lights out of her window. Are these orbs of light UFOs? Joanne Kavanagh, who is investigating the incident on behalf of Lufoin – the Leicestershire UFO Investigation Network – said: “It was a clear night and there were no clouds in the sky. “The lights kept merging into one and moving side to side.
“She said she watched them for about a minute and a half and got 20 seconds of video on her phone. “Then they shot off at speed together and merged into one again. “It’s quite an interesting case.” Hinckley Times / Paramount A 41-year-old woman from Earl Shilton spotted the two balls of bright white light in the early hours of February 3 of this year. Hinckley residents may have to remain vigilant… Joanne, who has experienced strange unexplained incidents herself, said the organization is trying to figure out what may have caused the lights. She said: “We don’t have a clue at the minute. We are trying to rule out whether it was an aircraft – we know it wasn’t anything to do with a police helicopter and we are still waiting to hear from the air ambulance. “The way they were moving and shot off within seconds, that’s not the actions of a helicopter or plane. “A lot of incidents can be linked to Chinese lanterns or drones but I don’t believe the orbs moved in the same way.”
A Wisconsin witness at Madison reported watching and videotaping “two reddish-orange objects” that quickly disappeared, according to testimony in Case 63958 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The witness was driving to a store in Madison at 4:01 p.m. on March 6, 2015, when the incident occurred.
“I noticed two objects in the sky that had a reflective, reddish-orange color,” the witness stated. “I very quickly realized I was seeing something unique and unusual.”

The witness pulled out a cell phone and recorded a 10-second video of the objects.
“It was there in the sky and it was gone from the sky. Thinking this has to be something explainable I reviewed what I recorded. The video is so fast that you have to slow down the video by 50 percent and go frame by frame.”

The witness noticed unusual behavior in the video.
“That is when I saw this object take different shapes and move beyond any speed I’ve ever seen. I would like someone to see the video and the pictures I got after slowing down the video and I saw clearly something unusual. So I zoomed into the video and got some amazing pictures and plus I have it on video.”

The witness did not submit the video with the MUFON report, which was filed on March 14, 2015. The witness did include five still images from the video.
Madison is the capital of the State of Wisconsin and the county seat of Dane County, population 243,344.
Wisconsin is currently a UFO Alert Level 5 – with 1.40 sightings per million population based on MUFON February 2015 statistics. Wisconsin received a total of eight UFO reports in February.

News Broadcast Video Caught A UFO Streaking Across the Camera Screen
A UFO caught on video during an Oklahoma City morning news broadcast, and they are asking opinions from the viewers about the mysterious UFO’s identity.
A short 13 second video was posted by KOCO 5 News in Oklahoma City on the morning of March 12, 2015. It shows a mysterious bright object flying across the screen. The video was taken by a camera mounted at the top of Grand Casino, located just east of the city.
The news broadcast presented the live video feed from the Grand Casino camera to show traffic on nearby I-40. All of a sudden, a bright object appears across the screen at a blazing speed. It moves away the screen and off to the right. It seems flying nearby and luminescent the whole time.
The broadcasters seem not noticing the object in the video because they did not mention it. One broadcaster only mentioned about the live camera feed from Grand Casino and then went on to introduce their meteorologist.
It appears that KOCO staff did notice the object while shooting the scene and posted the video of the UFO on their website with the title “Caught on camera: UFO flying through the sky near Shawnee.”
The video description says that they caught a flying object on KOCO 5 News at 6 a.m. during a morning news broadcast. However, no other details included in the report.
Viewers suggested shooting stars, meteors, bugs, fireworks, aircraft, and aliens. One viewer wrote in the comment section that aliens have gambling addictions as well. As of this writing, no one suggested the video as a hoax, perhaps because the news station itself took the video.

Tijdens de 67ste Lunar and Planetary Science Conference, een wetenschapsconferentie in Texas, presenteerde hij een mogelijke verklaring voor het fenomeen. Zijn team vond een oplossing waar geen wind aan te pas komt. Het gaat om een sprongsgewijze verplaatsing van deeltjes, die ontstaat wanneer fragmenten van de komeet op het oppervlak neervallen. "De neergestorte deeltjes slaan stuk op het oppervlak", legde Mottola uit, "en zo worden ook andere deeltjes van hun oorspronkelijke locatie weggeworpen."

Mottola stelde deze hypothese voor tijdens een sessie over de missie van Rosetta, die in november vorig jaar een lander neerliet op 67P. Philae botste daarbij meerdere keren op het oppervlak, alvorens hij op zijn zijde tot stilstand kwam. Wellicht ligt hij ingesloten tussen rotsen, waardoor er geen zonlicht aan de zonnepanelen komt.
Nu de komeet de zon nadert, verwachten wetenschappers dat Philae weer zal ontwaken. Sinds vorige week is Rosetta geprogrammeerd om een teken van leven op te vangen, tot dusver zonder resultaat.

Around one in the morning I saw an object dropped vertically before my very eyes, only some five meters distant.”
At first, the case was very similar to one that occurred recently in Albacete as part of the UFO flap that seemingly took hold of Spain in recent months. Only a few weeks after unidentified objects were seen over that capital city, and according to a press correspondent, in the town of Chinchilla, near the Los Llanos Base and on the property of the military maneuvering ground recently acquired by the Army.
This new UFO presence was witnessed by three people: a married couple and A. Sanchez, who retold their experience with astonishment, much like the laborer from Benacazón.
“The time was around seven in the evening,” said one of them, “when I saw two objects, measuring some four meters, over the summits of the Sierra de Chinchilla. They were two discs about the size of a traffic light that gave off a bright orange hue. The disks hung in space for some four or five minutes before descending at high speed and hiding behind the mountains.”
The sighting by M. Sánchez, the young man from Albacete, occurred some twenty kilometers away in a road that leads to La Felipa.
“A half hour later, two other objects with the same size and characteristics showed up, coming in behind the others. They made the same maneuvers: they remained still for some minutes and then descended behind the mountains. But before this, the four objects gave off a powerful beam of white light aimed at the ground. It gave the impression that they were looking for something, or lighting the area as if hoping to land.
M. Sánchez watched the area and the objects’ maneuvers until nine o’clock at night. This all happened on Thursday, October 23, 1980. The strangest part of his story was the following: “Moments before nine o’clock at night, I saw a jet arrive. It was a clear, moonlight night and was able to see the plane’s wake. Well, no sooner did the jet arrive did the four objects vanish, and I didn’t see them again. I was also surprised to see them descend as orderly as they rose. One set would do it first, followed by the others.
In this Albacete case there were multiple unidentified objects, as we said, but there were no humanoid cases or anything that might lead one to think of such. However, in Benacazón on the evening of 27 January 1976, Miguel Fernandez – the 24 year-old laborer – would explain it thus:
“As I was telling you, a star flew over me, and shortly after another, or maybe it was the same, but closer to where I was. Its color was dark green, without markings or windows. Solid, metallic-looking, with an approximate size of two meters wide by three and a half meters tall, legs included. It was equipped with a door that opened as if on hinges. Its upper section had something resembling wings or ailerons, semi-circular pieces that looked like arms.
When members of the Olivares UFO Research Group reported to the site, they didn’t find any prints, since some days had elapsed since the sighting, according to the main witness.
“The noise,” remarked Miguel Fernandez “was very similar to that of a tractor’s treads, but with greater intensity. It also had a moveable ramp that extended when the door opened.”
What makes the Albacete case so different from the Benacazón one is what happened next, according to Miguel Fernández.
“It was then that two beings appeared. They wore suits similar to those worn by frogmen – close fitting and phosphorescent. They wore buckled belts, at whose center they had something resembling a light that projected soft, rhythmic red flashes.
Miguel Fernández was unable to discern heads, feet or hands. But he did hear them speak in perfectly human voices but in an unknown language. These strange beings were approximately two meters tall, and they spoke to each other without noticing the presence of Miguel Fernández, who fled at that moment, just as the object took off at the same time, producing a flash-like effect and projecting something like smoke that blackened and slightly singed Fernández’s beard hair and mustache. He was later seen to at a hospital, and the orderly who treated him, as well as Miguel’s sister had their hands stained. It appears that a sample of the product that caused the spotting was subsequently sent to Madrid for an in-depth analysis of its properties.
Miguel Fernández is not sure how he made it home, as he nearly fainted. He barely remembers anything about what happened. His relatives subsequently explained that he had been found around two thirty in the morning in the entrance hall to the house after having entered.
No human explanation can be found for this case. However, a 24 year-old laborer, not prone to fantasy, a man completely uninvolved with the UFO phenomenon, indeed had an unforgettable experience on January 27, 1976 as he walked to Benacazón. What started by seeing something similar to a star ended with the presence of two beings dressed like frogmen, speaking in human-sounding voices after descending from an allegedly phone booth-shaped UFO, with lights on their belts. After this, he came close to fainting and does not know how he was able to get home. But there he was, hours after the bizarre event, unable to remember what had transpired.

There is a discrepancy in the dates of the event – one source says 1976 while Carballal's article gives 1978:
Miguel Fernández Carrasco's experience should occupy a privileged position in European ufological history: on the night of January 28, 1978, Miguel, who was then 24 years old, had dropped off his girlfriend, Carmen Alvarado Sáenz, age 20, at her house around midnight, and returned home from Sanlúcar la Mayor to Benacazón, some four kilometers away.
According to his report, he noticed a “shooting star” around twelve-thirty a.m. A few minutes later, the “star” turned in to an unidentified craft which landed some five meters away from the witness. The object had a parallelepipedal configuration, much like a telephone booth “but much larger” (some two meters wide by three and a half meters tall)–similar to the one described by Manuel Castro in Galicia, having a sort of dome on its upper section which issued read and white flashes. Near the upper edge of the vehicle's “trunk” were two appendages shaped like fins. A kind of door in the shape of a half-archway opened, spinning on hypothetical hinges. At that moment, a blinding light issued from the inside of the ship, and a ramp projected toward the floor.
According to the young man's story, he was frozen in terror as two humanoid beings standing some two meters tall emerged from the craft. They wore tight-fitting coveralls “like a frogman's wet suit”, according to Miguel, and a thick belt whose buckle emitted soft, rhythmic red flashes. Despite his terror, Miguel managed to control his panic and broke into a run. The humanoids promptly returned to the object and it “took off”. Looking behind him as he ran, the witness claims that the UFO rose in a great puff of smoke, heading toward him–which only served to increase his panic. The craft soon overtook him, and Miguel felt that he was hit with “a burning exhaust or emanation” from the UFO. The young man remembers nothing more until he appeared at the entrance to his house.
He was taken to the emergency room of Seville's Hospital San Lázaro where he underwent extensive tests. According to the report I found at said institution, he was found to have strange burns and ocular irritation “similar to having been exposed to a very powerful light”. The most surprising fact about the case is that a Seville judge called Miguel to testify, giving place to the only court action ever taken in a case of UFO aggression in Europe. A legal action which, I might add, was lost in the shuffle of paperwork and took me many days to obtain, involving an adventure which touches the limits of the unimaginable. This legal action constitutes, without a doubt, one of the most extraordinary documents in European UFO history, and the strange premature aging of the witness over the past years should also be cause for reflection on the matter.

Are these statues ancient representations of alien beings?
Undoubtedly, the original meaning and purpose of a great deal of ancient artwork have been lost over time. What started as an abstract representation in the mind of the ancient artist might be considered an accurate depiction of historical facts. While this might be the case with the Temehea Tohua statues, the similarity between the stone carvings and modern portrayals of extraterrestrials are striking.
The statues can be found on Nuku Hiva, the largest island of the Marquesas Archipelago in French Polynesia. Europeans reached the Marquesass in the last decade of the 16th century but the islands are thought to have been settled by Polynesians sometimes before 100 AD. On an interesting note, in the South Marquesan dialect, the island was called Te Fenua ‘Enata, meaning “The Land of Men.” As opposed to aliens, perhaps?
Some of the ancient statues on the Nuku Hiva island appear to depict beings from another world. Are they just a product of artistic imagination? Did they serve a ceremonial role and nothing more? Could they be records carved in stone as a memento of an archaic alien contact?
Some of the sculptures show beings with disproportionately large and elongated heads, gaping mouths and huge eyes. Another type shows beings with a bizarre mix of human and alien traits. Some ufologists believe the statues actually depict two alien races: Reptilians and Greys.
The Lizard People from the constellation of Draco appear in multiple conspiracy theories. Evil and manipulative, this advanced alien race is said to be secretly controlling mankind from the shadows. Did they make an appearance on the Marquesas Islands thousands of years ago, leading the locals into worshiping them as gods?
Modern reports of Grey aliens describe them as 3 to 4 feet tall humanoids with large heads and huge elliptic eyes. Some of the statues bear a striking resemblance to this extraterrestrial species.
So, are these stone carvings nothing but tikis belonging to Polynesian culture or is there something more to them? One thing appears certain: the beings they depict are not human.
It was December 9, 1965 in Kecksburg, Pennsylvania. It was forever memorable to the thousands of people from Ontario to Detroit where a fireball whizzed overhead, supposedly dripping hot molten metal over Michigan and Ohio before crashing in Kecksburg. As it went over Pittsburgh, it caused sonic booms. Thirty miles southeast of Pittsburgh, in the quiet small town of Kecksburg, local witnesses saw something crash into the woods. A boy who witnessed it told his mother, who saw a blue stream of smoke coming out of the area and called the police. Many witnesses reported it landed with a vibration and a “thump.” Some citizens went into the woods to see it including some local volunteer firefighters. What they reported was so amazing and unusual that, to this day, it is regarded as one of the most amazing unsolved crashed objects ever in our country. Witnesses that went into the woods reported it was shaped like an acorn, the size of a VW Beetle, and had some hieroglyphic characters on it that looked like Egyptian writing. With more detailing, they also mentioned a band along the bottom of the object. Military presence reportedly descended on the town. They secured the wooded area and sent all the civilians away. The military proceeded to cart the object away on a flatbed truck. Reportedly, a witness heard one of the military men screaming as he approached the object. Interestingly, the military reported they searched the woods and found “nothing.” There have been many explanations and speculation as to what the object was. Some say it was a meteor. Others say it was a Russian satellite. Yet others believe it was the Russians utilizing some Nazi bell technology. There has been a hypothesis that the fireball was a meteor and it landed in Lake Ontario most likely, given its trajectory and that the incident in the woods was not related. This sounds a bit like the Phoenix lights explanations that still abound today of two separate incidents occurring on the same night. One reporter, who showed up early, took photos but almost all the rolls of film were confiscated by the police. The reporter's wife at the time did see a photo from the remaining roll and the forest was dark, but there was a cone-shaped object there. That reporter, Bill Murphy, didn't realize what a can of worms he was opening when he wanted to share the information and the result might have been tragic.
Source: In the following weeks, Murphy became enveloped with the incident and wrote a radio documentary called Object in the Woods, featuring his experiences and interviews he had conducted that night. Shortly before the documentary would have aired, he received an unexpected visit at the station from two men in black suits identifying themselves as government officials. They requested to speak with him in a back room behind closed doors. The meeting lasted about 30 minutes. A WHJB employee, Linda Foschia, recalled the men confiscated some of Murphy's audio tapes from that night, and that no one knows what happened to the remaining photographs. A week after the visit, an agitated Murphy aired a censored version of the documentary, which he claimed in its introduction had to be edited due to some interviewees requesting their statements be removed from the broadcast in fear of getting in trouble with the police and Army. The new version contained nothing revealing, and did not mention an object at all. Mazza, and also Murphy's wife, remember the aired documentary was entirely different from what Murphy had originally written. After the airing, Murphy became uncharacteristically despondent and completely stopped all investigation on the case and refused to talk to anyone about it again, and never gave clear reasons why. In February 1969, Murphy was struck and killed by an unidentified car in an apparent hit-and-run while crossing a road. The hit-and-run occurred near Ventura, California while Murphy was on vacation.
Syfy Channel in 2003 decided to open the case utilizing the Freedom of Information Act. They went to the site with witnesses and tested core samples of damaged trees to find the damage occurred in 1965. This was disputed by supposed scientists who state that it could have been ice damage that winter. Of course, nothing was revealed through government documents that stated “nothing” was found. In 2005, NASA decided to change its explanation to a re-entering Russian satellite. Interestingly, they stated it broke up on re-entry and metal fragments revealed its origins. Where these metal fragments fell, no one states, and as well they stated that the documents about it were lost in 1990. Source: On October 26, 2007, NASA agreed to search for those records after being ordered by the court. The judge, who had tried to move NASA along for more than 3 years, angrily referred to NASA's previous search efforts as a “ball of yarn” that never fully answered the request, adding, “I can sense the plaintiff's frustration because I'm frustrated.”
One person came forward (link below for details) who said that it was a USSR rocket nose cone from a space probe. They allowed people to believe it was a UFO because it made the entire incident look ridiculous. This person said that the US and USSR had agreed to send each other back their space debris. We will likely never have answers to this incident, but when I look at this photo, if this is indeed a picture of the item, it certainly looks more like a rocket tip design than any vehicle from space and during the height of Cold War hysteria, anything USSR would be held in secret from the public. The colors of light coming from the surface of exoplanets could help scientists locate extraterrestrial life, thanks to a new database created by a team of researchers.
When searching for extraterrestrial life, astrobiologists typically look for the type of life we know and understand–something similar to the life forms on Earth. So scientists from the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy, Cornell University, and the NASA Ames Research Center, created a color catalog that contains reflection color signatures of Earth life that might be found on the surface of alien worlds.
“It is likely that life on exoplanets evolves through single-celled stages prior to multicellular creatures,” the research team explains. “Here, we present the first database for a diverse range of life — including extremophiles (organisms living in extreme conditions) found in the most inhospitable environments on Earth — for such surface features in preparation for the next generation of telescopes that will search for a wide variety of life on exoplanets.”
According to a Cornell University press release, The team “gathered the cultures of 137 cellular life forms that range from Bacillus gathered at the Sonoran Desert to Halorubrum chaoviator found at Baja California, Mexico, to Oocystis minuta, obtained in an oyster pond at Martha’s Vineyard.”
