TV show looking for aliens on Earth

A new television show is searching for extraterrestrials. But rather than looking to the stars, this show is looking for visitors right here on planet Earth.

Some believe that extraterrestrials may have visited Earth long ago. And others firmly believe that visitors from other worlds are here now.

This show, which is seemingly working with the tentative title of Aliens Among Us, aims to explore the possibility that extraterrestrials not only exist, but that they actually live among us.

The show is reportedly being produced by an Emmy Award-winning production company for a major television network.

The casting information for the show reads:

Mysterious sightings in Australia’s skies

IS IT a bird, is it a plane? Wait a second ...

Something very strange has been happening in Australia’s skies, baffling even the nation’s top air safety experts.

It turns out that pilots have been reporting sightings of mysterious flying objects for years, but these cases have been kept hush-hush. It’s only now that they are finally coming to light.

And it’s all thanks to two curious scientists: Paul Dean, a Melbourne-based UFO researcher, and Keith Basterfield, the author of UFOs: the Image Hypothesis.

The duo were fascinated by an Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) report into an incident near Perth on March 19 last year involving a flying object, so they delved into the case, and in the process discovered evidence of other similar encounters in Australia that had been kept a secret.

The ATSB report had concluded that an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV — otherwise known as a drone) may have been responsible for the March 19 sighting.

But there are doubts, with an ATSB spokesman telling news.com.au: “The ATSB was not able to confirm the details of the object or identify any UAV operator in the area at that time.”

Details of the incident were provided in the report: “At about 3800 ft above mean sea level, the crew sighted a bright strobe light directly in front of the aircraft. The light appeared to track towards the aircraft and the crew realised that the light was on an unknown object, possibly an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) ...

“The pilot reported that the object was cylindrical in shape and grey in colour.”

The shocked pilot, who had 53 passengers on board, was forced to take evasive action to avoid a collision with the object.

Dean and Basterfield had originally pushed for the case to be classed as a UFO event. However, they have just published a new analysis of the close encounter, and now they believe that someone could be firing rockets at planes, Crikey reports.

Why did they change their minds? The scientists had lodged a freedom of information request with Air Services Australia, asking for information on recent cases of unexplained objects in our skies. They were stunned when the response to their request detailed 13 incidents over the past seven years.

According to the Airservices Australia response: “(Flight) XKI (DH8C) reported a foreign object of approximate size (1 metre) within close proximity (50ft) of the aircraft causing them to level out briefly as the object passed left hand side. The rocket like object (shaft) was observed to be attached to a parachute. Pilot reported observation at 6800 ft.”

Other strange cases include once that occurred last January, where a pilot spotted “something hovering ... which then disappeared”, and another in September 2012 where “TGW581 reported a red cylindrical object passing the aircraft in the opposite direction when climbing through FL200 approximately 20nm miles south of Sydney.”.

Perhaps even stranger was this account on April 25, 2010 near Mt Jerrabomberra, NSW: “Unidentified (upside down pyramid shaped) object drifting close to final rwy 35 ... Initially drifted west, towards final for rwy 35, before climbing and drifting to the Northeast. Two aircraft (QFA814 and VOZ259) were diverted through noise abatement areas to avoid the object.”

Dean and Basterfield have submitted further freedom of information requests for more details on the cases and continue to analyse the events. You can read more about their research on their website.

So were the objects rockets, or UFOs? For now, nobody is quite sure.

The ATSB declined to comment further on the issue when contacted by news.com.au. Airservices Australia has also been contacted for comment.

C'est une sorte de feu vert que vient de recevoir la Nasa. Barack Obama a en effet décidé d'augmenter de 2,7% pour le porter à 18,5 milliards de dollars en 2016. Une augmentation validée par le Congrès. Celle-ci va notamment servir à financer les 30 millions nécessaires aux travaux préparatoires à une mission d'exploration d'Europa (ou Europe), une lune de Jupiter qui pourrait abriter la vie. A cela s'ajoutent 255 millions de dollars programmés sur les 5 prochaines années et 100 millions de dollars déjà alloués pour l'année en cours, explique The new scientist. 

Le projet Europa Clipper

Le programme, mûri depuis les années 1990, commencera par la construction d'une sonde spatiale appelée "Europa Clipper", en vue d'un lancement au milieu des années 2020. Les responsables du projet vont en effet devoir trouver des solutions à plusieurs difficultés techniques. Comme l'explique Sara Susca, ingénieure du système informatique, il est difficile de pénétrer dans l'orbite de la planète en raison d' "une jungle de radiation autour de Jupiter." Il faudra donc prévoir des boucliers pour protéger les capteurs électroniques de la sonde. Les chercheurs auront jusqu'au printemps 2015 pour présenter "les instruments qui seront à bord" avant de passer à l'étape suivante.  

"Compte tenu de ces difficulté, la sonde risque de rester en orbite autour de Jupiter et de faire de multiples approches d'Europa, plutôt que d'attérir ou d'orbiter autour de la lune elle-même, croit savoir The New Scientist. Cela rendra la mission moins onéreuse et plus sûre." 

Les principales tâches de "Europa Clipper" seront de photographier la surface du satellite et d'analyser la vapeur d'eau de ses geysers.

Europe que l'on nomme "lune galliléenne" est couvert de glaces. Certains scientifiques pensent que l'océan caché sous cette couche polaire pourrait abriter une eau propice à une forme de vie. Des recherches dans ce sens avaient eu lieu sur la planète Mars à la mi-janvier, mais le rééquilibrage du budget en faveur d'Europe devrait nuire aux avancées sur la Planète Rouge. La Nasa avait déjà lancé en 2011 la sonde Juno vers Jupiter. Celle-ci doit arriver en juillet 2016.

The 1941 Cape Girardeau UFO Crash

On its website (www.ufocenter.com), the Seattle-based National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) has accounts of 1,857 UFO sightings observed throughout most sections of Missouri since the early 1950s. Because only about 5 percent of UFO witnesses actually report their experiences, the total number of Missouri UFO encounters is, no doubt, much higher.      

An account of a UFO crash in southeast Missouri preceded the well-known Roswell, N.M., crash by almost six years. In 1991, the late Leonard Stringfield, an early UFO investigator and former civilian consultant to UFO operations at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, in the 1950s, published an account of an alleged 1941 UFO crash near Cape Girardeau. Stringfield’s article appeared in the July 1991 issue of his “Status Report,” a monthly publication on UFO activities and investigations. The article was based on information received from Charlette Mann, who was a young child living in Cape Girardeau in 1941. At the time, Charlette’s grandfather, the Rev. William Huffman, was pastor of Cape’s Red Star Baptist Church.

Charlette told Stringfield her grandfather received a call in spring 1941 from local police asking him to travel with them to the site of an airplane crash outside the city limits to minister to the victims of the crash. When the Rev. Huffman arrived on the scene, police officers, firefighters, FBI agents, emergency medical crew and numerous military personnel — presumably from the Army air base in nearby Sikeston — were viewing what Huffman described as a disc-shaped object, the interior of which contained a small metal chair, gauges, dials and hieroglyphic-like inscriptions and writings around the inside. He also saw three entitles, or “non-human people,” lying on the ground. Two were just outside the craft, with a third somewhat farther away. He described the bodies as hairless with large heads, big eyes, small mouths and very small ears. The Rev. Huffman said the dead individuals were about 4 feet tall and seemed to have no hard bone structure but very long arms and fingers.

Best Loch Ness Monster Evidence...Lost? Creature Left Flesh On Boat’s Propeller After Collision

What may have been the best evidence that the Loch Ness Monster is indeed real was inadvertently destroyed almost 40 years ago, after a rented pleasure boat suffered a violent collision with an unknown object in Scotland’s vast and mysterious lake widely believed to house the bizarre sea creature.

One of the passengers on the rented boat, an elderly man, was so frightened by the collision with an unseen object that he suffered a heart attack and died shortly thereafter — making the unfortunate boater perhaps the only human fatality claimed by an encounter with the Loch Ness Monster.

The reported collision in 1978 was not even the first reported on the mist-enshrouded lake in the Scottish Highlands between a boat and the strange occupant of the 22 square-mile lake, which reaches depths of up to 755 feet. In 1943 a Royal Navy boat ran directly into what the boat’s commander described as “a very large animal… a living creature.”

But the 1978 collision could have yielded incontrovertible evidence of that the Loch Ness Monster exists, because the collision is said to have wounded the creature — which left large shards of its flesh on the boat’s propeller shaft.

Stanley Roberts, now 85, who owned the rental boat back in 1978, described the remnants of the monster that were attached to the underside of his boat as “found flesh and black skin an inch thick along the propshaft.”

But before he knew what had happened, workers who were repairing the damaged boat simply tossed the flesh into the water.

“The workers chiseled the flesh away and threw it into the Caledonian Canal,” Roberts recalled, in an interview last week with the Scotland Now news site. “I said you stupid b*******s. It would have proved that Nessie was here.”

Had the organic material been preserved, given DNA-reading techniques available with today’s technology, scientists would likely have been able to determine exactly what hit the boat — and as a result, finally learned what the fabled Loch Ness Monster actually is.

There have been countless sightings of “Nessie” since the 1930s, when the “Monster” first became a worldwide sensation. In 2012, a Loch Ness Monster researcher, George Edwards, took what he believes is the clearest photograph yet of a large, living creature in the lake’s waters. - Inquisitr

How often is Punxsutawney Phil correct?

Has the famous woodchuck of 'Groundhog Day' fame ever managed to make an accurate prediction ?

It was the bane of Bill Murray's existence in the 1993 Harold Ramis movie, but despite being an unlikely premise the actual Groundhog Day ceremony is a real thing that still takes place at the beginning of February each year across the United States.

Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog in the movie, continues to be part of the largest Groundhog Day celebration in Pennsylvania where large crowds still gather in anticipation of finding out whether or not spring is likely to arrive early.

According to the tradition, if the groundhog emerges and sees its own shadow then there will be six more weeks of winter whereas if it sees no shadow then the warmer weather will arrive sooner.

To determine just how accurate Punxsutawney Phil actually is at predicting the seasons a team at the Washington Post brought together and analyzed temperature statistics for the last 30 years.

What they found was that while Phil's predictions were correct more often than not for some areas of the country, the overall average temperature between the years in which he predicted a longer winter and the years in which he predicted an early spring varied by only a few degrees.

Psychic to Stand Trial for Death He 'Predicted'

Nearly 12 years after her body was found floating in a pool on a rural Valley Center compound called Angel’s Landing, Patricia Hughes’ death remains a mystery.

Some say the 26-year-old mother accidentally slipped and hit her head, drowning in an attempt to rescue her 2-year-old daughter from the water.

Some suggest she committed suicide.

Still others, including the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office, think she was killed – her head held beneath the water until she quit breathing – for $2 million in life insurance money.

The question will come to the fore this week as Daniel U. Perez heads to trial in Sedgwick County Court on 38 criminal charges, including first-degree premeditated murder in Hughes’ death.

The charges against the 55-year-old Perez – which also include rape, sodomy, sexual exploitation of a child, aggravated assault, criminal threat and directing that false information be put on life insurance and car credit applications – are associated with a communal lifestyle he led in Kansas with a group known as “the family.”

Perez has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Jury selection in the case is scheduled to begin Monday.

According to witnesses who testified at his preliminary hearing in June 2012, Perez lived on a 20-acre compound in the 9500 block on North Oliver, had no job and was the leader of a traveling entourage who lived off of life insurance benefits paid from the deaths of about a dozen others involved.

Perez directed the amounts and who received millions in payouts from the policies, according to testimony. But he never was himself listed as a beneficiary.

Perez, witnesses testified, had used the name Lou Castro. He was controlling and sometimes violent, they said, forcing girls and women to have sex against their will.

He had used false names and aliases since 1997, when he was convicted of child sex crimes in Texas but fled before sentencing, according to court documents.

After Hughes died on June 26, 2003, in the compound’s pool, the coroner ruled her death accidental. Her autopsy showed she suffered three blunt force injuries to her head.

Eight years later, a 20-year-old came forward with unsettling information: She said the young mother had been murdered.

Series of deaths

According to testimony from witnesses in June 2012, those surrounding Perez at the Angel’s Landing compound believed the 5-foot-6 man was “a seer” who could foretell the future. He claimed to be hundreds of years old, to have three different persona and to need sex from someone pure, like young girls, to survive.

He is charged with multiple counts of sex acts with minors.

For years, the deaths of people in Kansas and other states who were associated with Perez’s communal “family” had raised questions. Hughes, a wife and mother, was one of about a dozen, according to court documents.

Others included Hughes’ husband, who was crushed to death by a car in South Dakota after a jack slipped; their child’s guardian, who met her death when her SUV swerved in front of a dump truck in Butler County; and a woman killed along with her 12-year-old daughter and her boyfriend in a plane crash in South Dakota. (Hughes received $700,000 in life insurance money from the plane crash victim.)

Like the others, Hughes’ death seemed nothing more than a tragic, unintended turn of fate. The official story was that she slipped and hit her head while rushing down a pool step to rescue her 2-year-old daughter, who had fallen in while they and a neighbor girl cleaned the pool.

Apparently, she did not know how to swim.

But then a grown woman told a detective who approached her in 2011 that she helped stage the drowning. She was 12 at the time.

The woman, whom The Eagle is not naming because she alleges she is a victim of sexual assault, testified in June 2012 that Perez foretold Hughes’ death about a week before it happened and enlisted her help. She said Hughes knew she would die on June 26, 2003, and kissed her daughter and offered reassurance that she would return after “crossing over” before she walked to the pool.

The woman in her testimony said Perez had ordered her to wait in a shop by the pool with Hughes’ 2-year-old daughter for 20 minutes, saying that he would retrieve her later and she would take the toddler and jump into the water. After some time, she heard splashing and thought she heard a scream, then Perez came in, the woman testified.

His forearms were wet but not his clothes, she said in 2012, and he seemed out of breath.

Hughes was in the shallow end of the pool when she took the toddler into the water, the woman testified.

As a girl, she told a 911 emergency operator that the 26-year-old mother had slipped and that she was able to rescue her daughter, but she couldn’t pull Hughes out of the pool.

Perez, she testified, had directed her to do so. He was at a car dealership when paramedics arrived.

Hughes’ death was reclassified as a homicide on Sept. 1, 2011. Perez was booked into Sedgwick County Jail about 4 1/2 months later; he remains there on $2.1 million bond.

In court in 2012, then-Deputy Sedgwick County District Attorney Marc Bennett argued that a person can’t drown himself or herself. Defense attorney Alice Osburn suggested that perhaps Hughes committed suicide.

District Judge Joseph Bribiesca is scheduled to preside over Perez’s trial. Bennett, now the district attorney, said Sunday the proceedings likely will last more than a week. - Kansas Eagle

Power Plant explosion in Escanaba, Michigan accompanied by strange beam of light! (Video)

Lately strange things happen in the skies. We see a lot of strange unnatural fireballs, strange objects falling from the skies, flashing spheres and laser beams in space recorded by the ISS Live stream HD cam.

And now, Escanaba residents awoke Monday to find themselves without power after a mysterious explosion at a power plant in Escanaba, Michigan that has left much of the area in the dark.

According to Allnewspipeline, the explosion was accompanied by a strange light that one reader said "shot straight down from the heavens." While the local media attempted to explain away the light as an oncoming train, most readers weren't buying it. Read more

Found in Siberia Could Be Largest in the World

The word is starting to spread through websites that explore mysterious events and artifacts from history that megaliths found in Gornaya Shoria (Mount Shoria), Siberia, could be the largest in the world.

The first person to report this news was amateur researcher John Jensen, who had previously gained some attention for identifying unusual formations off the east coast of the United States.  He came across photos recently taken of a team exploring the megaliths and information about the megaliths posted on Russian websites. One of the websites was that of Valery Uvarov, a Russian author interested in the Egyptian pyramids. The stones may be larger than the Baalbek stones in Lebanon, which are currently thought to be the largest used in an ancient structure. Comparing photos of both sites, with people standing next to the stones to provide a sense of scale, the largest pictured Gornaya Shoria stones seem a third or so bigger than the Baalbek stones, which weigh about 800 tons. 

The average weight of stones used to build the Great Pyramid is about 2.5 tons. The Stonehenge megaliths are about 50 tons each. The stones at Gornaya Shoria are stacked about 130 feet (40 meters) high, according to Jensen. They appear to be carved into rectangular blocks, with some forming passageways.

NASA ponders the implications of the discovery of extraterrestrial life

February 4, 2015 - One of the big questions regarding the discovery of extraterrestrial life, even if it is an itty-bitty microbe, is what impact it would have on society. Some have suggested that people will freak out and religions will crumble. Others think the news will be met with a resounding, “meh.”

To examine the effects of the discovery of extraterrestrial life, whether it be a microbe, or a radio transmission from an advanced civilization, NASA has turned to one of their former chief historians, Steven Dick.

Dick is the current Baruch S. Blumberg NASA-Library of Congress Chair in Astrobiology. He is an astronomer, author, and from 2003 to 2009 served as NASA’s chief historian. Dick began his current position in late 2013, and was tasked with “examining historical impacts of astrobiology.” This includes, “working both individually and with other scholars to determine systematically the critical issues and optimal approaches to studying the societal impact of the discovery of microbial or intelligent extraterrestrial life.”

The later has been of particular interest to Dick. He has written several books on the topic. He hosted a recent Symposium on these issue as well. It was held in September at the Library of Congress, and was free and open to the public.

An interview with Dick was recently posted on the website of Astrobiology Magazine. He told them, “It’s very farsighted for NASA to fund a position like this. They have all their programs in astrobiology, they fund the scientists, but here they fund somebody to think about what the implications might be. It’s a good idea to do this, to foresee what might happen before it occurs.”

So what does Dick think might happen? Well, for starters, even if the discovery was only a microbe, Dick says, “it would have an effect on science, especially biology, by universalizing biology.” Dick continued, “We only have one case of biology on Earth. It’s all related. It’s all DNA-based. If we found an independent example on Mars or Europa, we have a chance of forming a universal biology.”

However, Dick also points out that such a discovery would be a long arduous process. “I’ve done a book about discovery in astronomy, and it’s an extended process,” Dick pointed out. “It’s not like you point your telescope and say, ‘Oh, I made a discovery.’ It’s always an extended process: You have to detect something, you have to interpret it, and it takes a long time to understand it. As for extraterrestrial life, the Mars rock showed it could take an extended period of years to understand it.”

The Mars rock Dick refers to is meteorite ALH84001. It was discovered in the Antarctic in 1984. After 10 years of study, scientists had determined it came from Mars. Then,  in 1996, scientists declared that structures observed on the meteorite showed evidence of biological activity. The news that it was the first time we had found evidence of life on a planet other than our own was a pretty big deal. President Bill Clinton held a press conference, and the Senate Science, Technology and Space Subcommittee of the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee held a hearings.

However, there were dissenting views. Many scientists came forward to express their opinions that the evidence observed in the rock could all have been formed without the presence of  biological activity. The last congressional hearing, held on September 25, 1996, concluded that “more studies are needed and the only way this can be accomplished is by sending additional spacecraft to Mars to collect more samples.”

In essence, they called it a draw, and the debate continues.

Dick is also examining the effects of contact with more complex extraterrestrials, such as those that might contact us via radio signals. The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) is monitoring the great void of space for those signals, should they exist, but what if they begin to receive messages?

Some of Dick’s colleagues, and fellow presenters at his Symposium at the Library of Congress, examined some of these issues in a film that recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Meanwhile,  Dick continues to look into these issues and plans on writing more books on the topic.

1500 year old bible found and nobody want's to know?!

February 4, 2015 - If this is true and NOBODY can say it is not. All I ever hear from religion is "There is proof" So here you are, 'Proof' A book, pre-dates already to 500AD. If this book is real then it changes religion. But like ANY bible it will be scrutinised and called wrong and blasphemous. I am saying, if the Bibles of today are real, then this is real. If this new book is fake, they are all fake. I dislike what religion does to this planet. So for me I know it will hurt friends and family, but to all religious people reading this, you can't have your cake and eat it. This is either real or fake. I can hear it already "MUSLIM LIES" If this book is real, millions of people have been living a blind lie. But if this book is wrong, well I don't know how that can be. The Vatican have requested to see it. I will keep you updated. From my understanding carbon dating has been done a few times, and 1,500 years old.

A Bible which is reported to be at least 1500 years old was discovered in Turkey and inside it there is a Gospel of Barnabas. The book was moved by Turkish government to one of their museums by way of police escort. Barnabas was one of the disciples of Jesus Christ, and in the Gospel of Barnabas, it states that Christ was never crucified. It reads instead that he rose to heaven while alive and Judas was the one crucified instead. Additionally, this ancient Bible declares that Jesus was not the Son of God, but only a prophet who spoke the word of God. The book also calls the Apostle Paul “The Impostor”. In a press release that was sent out by the Turkish government, it said that the Bible was snatched from a mob of smugglers in a Mediterranean region operation. The report explained that the group was accused of trafficking antique relics, performing illegal archaeological digs, and being in the possession of explosives. The book itself is believed to be valued as high as $28 million.

According to religious experts and specialists located in Tehram, they believe the Bible is an original. It is written in gold letters, against loosely bound blackened leather in Aramaic, which is the language that Jesus would have spoken. It is thought that during the Council of Nicea that the Catholic Church chose which Gospels that appear in the regular Bible as it is known today. They would have tossed out the Gospel of Barnabas along with many others in favor of the four Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. There have been numerous supposed Biblical texts which have come to light over time, including the Dead Sea Gnostic Gospels. However this ancient Bible has especially seemed to brought worry to the Vatican.

What would something like this mean to any Christian based religions and their believers? It would cause a very tight spot. The Vatican has requested the Turkish authorities to let them look at the inside of the book within the Church. Now that the ancient Bible has been found and the contents released to the public, what will the Catholic church have to say about it? To believers of the Christian faith, this book will be considered a fraud and a fake, something to be ignored and forgotten about. To atheists, agnostics or people who are secular thinkers, they may wonder if the text is real or not. More than likely they will not even care.

As was mentioned above, the Vatican has made an authorized request to the Turkish government to have a look at the book. It was reportedly penned in Aramaic, which is a nearly dead language. It is only spoken in the modern world in a tiny village located near Damascus. It has been reported to the media that mere photocopies of the ancient Bible’s pages are being retailed for nearly $2 million. Along with that, the age, flawless construction, and the contents inside the ancient Bible are what make it so valuable. 10 Creepy Stories Of Encounters With Men In Black

Men in black have been popping up for awhile, usually whenever someone claims to have recently sighted a UFO. Shortly after each sighting, the person in question is visited by strange men who usually wear black suits, black ties, and white shirts.

The details and motives sometimes vary, but even stranger are the variations in the descriptions of the men in question. ‘I have some stuff you might be interested in…’: Edward Snowden and the ultimate secret

When four years ago Wikileaks published 250,000 US state department cables dating back to the 1960s, a believer in ET visitations asked why, in the great mass of data, there was not one major UFO secret.

Soon afterwards, during a live Q&A, Wikileaks supremo Julian Assange explained that ‘many weirdoes email us about UFOs’ but none of the stories they supply satisfied their twin publishing criteria, which was: ‘that the documents not be self-authored; that they be original’.

Now former NSA contractor Edward Snowden has upped the ante with a massive leak of two million top secret documents. Snowden’s leak to The Guardian and New York Times has been described by Daniel Ellsberg of Pentagon Papers fame as ‘the most significant leak’ of classified material in US history.

Yet Snowden’s revelations have failed to produce the ‘smoking gun’ that would prove the alien presence on Earth, the real ultimate secret if you buy into the UFO myth.

Even if you don’t it cannot be denied that if such knowledge really existed it should merit at least a tiny reference in the files of the world’s most powerful intelligence agency.

The revelation that flying saucers have landed and governments are in contact with alien intelligences would make the ongoing debates about mass surveillance and the balance between national security and information privacy seem like an afterthought.

So far not a single authentic piece of paper, memo or PowerPoint has emerged from either Wikileaks or Snowden-gate to support this widely held modern myth.

The UFO industry has struggled to explain this odd omission and its corporate arm, the so-called ‘exopolitics’ movement led by the Paradigm Research Group, has continued on its merry way organising mock congressional hearings as if nothing in the world had changed.

Then, early in the new year someone decided it was time to stitch the breaking Snowden story together with the UFO conspiracy rumours. Snowden fled to Russia in June 2013 and has been granted temporary asylum.

In January what the Washington Post describes as ‘an ultra-fringe conspiracy website’, www.whatdoesitmean.com published a story based upon what it claimed was a FSB dossier summarising NSA secrets handed over to the Russian security service by Snowden.

The author of this piece, one ‘Sorcha Faal’, claimed its contents provided ‘incontrovertible proof’ that ‘an alien/extra-terrestrial intelligence agenda’ is driving US foreign policy. The dossier said the US government has been secretly run by a ‘shadow government’ of extra-terrestrials since the Second World War.

No good UFO story is complete without a Nazi element so the hoax included the ‘fact’ that Hitler built up his U-boat fleet ‘with alien assistance’, updating the familiar ancient astronauts meme to WW2. According to the story, after backing the wrong side in WW2 the aliens are now holed up at Area 51 with President Obama as their willing dupe and are plotting to use the omnipresent NSA to take over the world.

Hoax documents have always been a favourite trope in UFOlogy and the fake MJ12 papers, offered as proof of the Roswell incident during the ‘80s, provide a useful template. Further evidence? Sorcha Faal is so obviously a made-up name and whatdoesitmean is a notorious source of fake stories.

Only the gullible or credulous were likely to pay any attention to nonsense published on ‘an ultra-fringe conspiracy website’. But some have grounds to suspect it is run by someone spreading disinformation on behalf of one or more intelligence agencies. It is equally possible that ‘Faal’ is simply having fun by publishing nonsense that he or she knows will be swallowed by those want to believe it.

If there is any truth in the disinformation theory, on this occasion the spooks scored a direct hit. Soon after its appearance ‘the semi-official Iranian news agency’, FARS, swallowed the hoax whole. On 12 January Fars published a breathless regurgitation of the FSB story, faithfully referenced to its source: whatdoesitmean.com.

They also repeated Faal’s claim that the contents of the Russian dossier had been confirmed by the former Canadian defence minister, Paul Hellyer, during a live interview on Russian TV on 30 December 2013. The 90-year-old, FARS claimed, had been consulted by the FSB during his Russian trip on the accuracy of the alien story.

Hellyer’s faith in aliens includes his claim that ‘at least four species of aliens’ have been visiting Earth for thousands of years. These include ‘Nordic blondes’ and Tall Whites that live on earth ‘and are working with the United States government’.

So far so weird. Hellyer can’t provide any proof, but neither could Lord Hill Norton or any of the other cranky ‘top people’ who have swallowed the wilder products of the UFO industry whole in their dotage.

But in this case Hellyer, by talking about ‘Tall Whites’ and aliens secretly running the US government since the ’50s, played right into the hands of the person or persons responsible for concocting the Nazi alien hoax.

Both Hellyer and Disclosure spokesman Stephen Bassett have since published disclaimers, blaming what they believe is a CIA plot to smear them. In this case they may be right.  The spooks have form in using belief in UFOs and other fringe phenomena to discredit politicians and other targets. In 2001, the renegade SIS officer Richard Tomlinson claimed that during the run-up to the 1992 elections for the UN Secretary General, the CIA ran a smear campaign against the Egyptian candidate, Boutros Boutros Ghali, who they claimed ‘was a believer in the existence of UFOs and extra-terrestrial life’ (The Independent, 1 June 2001).

The smear was allegedly run by planting false stories in the media, much as Sorcha Faal tries to do.This operation failed as Boutros-Ghali was elected. But in the Fars case it seems to me that Hellyer and the UFO believers were roped in as cannon-fodder.

The real target is Snowden himself and the intention is to portray him as unbalanced and a traitor who passes secrets to the Russians . According to Luke Harding’s 2014 book The Snowden Files his haul of NSA documents is protected by several layers of sophisticated encryption and has not fallen into the hands of his hosts.

I have to agree with Max Fisher of the Washington Post, who described this hall of mirrors as ‘highly entertaining’. And until new information emerges I await a convincing answer to the question I posed in 2010: ‘where are the UFO whistle-blowers?’ Sorry, Paul Hellyer doesn’t count.

The film promises to present chillingly believable situation of first contact on Earth with unprecedented access from military advisors to Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, and from experts at NASA’s International Space University to researchers at Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute.

While many believe that first contact already happened a long time ago, and in fact extraterrestrials are already among humans, the official word still maintains that first contact has yet to happen. This issue is also discussed ranging from government reaction to the cultural impact.

The Visit premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 28.

Metallic Alien Lifeform Discovered By Scientist’s (Video)

Scientists from the Buckingham Centre for Astrobiology have found a tiny metal orb that they believe is extraterrestrial in origin.

It follows findings that DNA capable of inserting itself into living creatures and replicating can exist in harsh space conditions. A tiny ‘plasmid’, a circular strand of DNA used in genetic engineering, was sent into space from Sweden in 2011 on the exterior of a TEXUS-49 rocket. After enduring 1,000C heat it was found to still be intact and with its biological properties when it returned to Earth

The mysterious orb which is about the width of a human hair has filamentous life on its outer casing and also has a strange biological material leaking out from its core.

The lead scientist of the team who discovered the biological entity claims that it may have been sent by an intelligent extraterrestrial civilization possibly for the purpose of seeding alien life on Earth.

Professor Chandra Wickramasinghe director of the Buckingham Centre for Astrobiology said it is further proof of alien life. However the latest finding, by Professor Milton Wainwright and his team from the University of Sheffield and the University of Buckingham Centre for Astrobiology, could reveal a much more sinister purpose. It could have been deliberately engineered and sent to Earth to infect the planet.

Professor Wainwright said the structure is made from the metals titanium and vanadium with a “gooey” biological liquid oozing from its centre. He said there are several theories as to where it came from, the first being it is a complete microorganism programmed to propagate alien life on Earth.

WITNESS STATEMENT:  My kids and I saw this incredible UFO in the eastern sky on Dec 11th at around 5 pm. No sound just moving back forth up and down then exited. One picture is enhanced with false color clearly showing the dome top above the bottom lights. The pictures are from a digital camera and not re-touched at all, other than brightness and contrast and false color. This is the Single best UFO photo ever! Two reasons- Its extremely crisp, and it was taken in the dark of night with a fairly recently manufactured DIGITAL Camera, You see, I am a photographer by trade and the ccd’s of most newer digital cameras have the ability to pick-up nearly-visible and invisible light. Can you guess where that beautiful blue lies in the spectrum??,

Yup that’s right- UV If you take the image and adjust the brightness and contrast, you will not see a dome over a structure, you will see a perfect sphere with three glowing energy tracers (for lack of a better word) These energy tracers are proof positive that whatever this thing is, its generating ultraviolet radiation and if you look closely, the “tracers” seem to be rotating counter-clockwise and slightly over-lapping. I’m totally floored by this, please put this out to your readership and let them run with the ball, thanks.   The witness seems to think it is a domed disk, probably because for most people that’s what UFOs are supposed to look like. But the magnifications of his photos tell an interesting story.  The 2 photographs show an oval/egg-shaped UFO (which is one of the common configurations seen near the ground) flying with the long axis vertical, with a noticeable luminous air-ionization around the underside.

This illuminated and illuminating sheath of atmosphere around the UFO is a sheath of ionized and excited air molecules { also called a “plasma” in science.}

NASA ponders the implications of the discovery of extraterrestrial life

One of the big questions regarding the discovery of extraterrestrial life, even if it is an itty-bitty microbe, is what impact it would have on society. Some people have suggested that people will freak out and religions will crumble. Others think the news will be met with a resounding, “meh.”

To examine the effects of the discovery of extraterrestrial life, whether it be a microbe, or a radio transmission from an advanced civilization, NASA has turned to one of their former chief historians, Steven Dick.

Dick is the current Baruch S. Blumberg NASA-Library of Congress Chair in Astrobiology. He is an astronomer, author, and from 2003 to 2009 served as NASA’s chief historian. Dick began his current position in late 2013, and was tasked with “examining historical impacts of astrobiology.” This includes, “working both individually and with other scholars to determine systematically the critical issues and optimal approaches to studying the societal impact of the discovery of microbial or intelligent extraterrestrial life.”

The later has been of particular interest to Dick. He has written several books on the topic. He hosted a recent Symposium on these issue as well. It was held in September at the Library of Congress, and was free and open to the public.

An interview with Dick was recently posted on the website of Astrobiology Magazine. He told them, “It’s very farsighted for NASA to fund a position like this. They have all their programs in astrobiology, they fund the scientists, but here they fund somebody to think about what the implications might be. It’s a good idea to do this, to foresee what might happen before it occurs.”

So what does Dick think might happen? Well, for starters, even if the discovery was only a microbe, Dick says, “it would have an effect on science, especially biology, by universalizing biology.” Dick continued, “We only have one case of biology on Earth. It’s all related. It’s all DNA-based. If we found an independent example on Mars or Europa, we have a chance of forming a universal biology.”

However, Dick also points out that such a discovery would be a long arduous process. “I’ve done a book about discovery in astronomy, and it’s an extended process,” Dick pointed out. “It’s not like you point your telescope and say, ‘Oh, I made a discovery.’ It’s always an extended process: You have to detect something, you have to interpret it, and it takes a long time to understand it. As for extraterrestrial life, the Mars rock showed it could take an extended period of years to understand it.”

The Mars rock Dick refers to is meteorite ALH84001. It was discovered in the Antarctic in 1984. After 10 years of study, scientists had determined it came from Mars. Then,  in 1996, scientists declared that structures observed on the meteorite showed evidence of biological activity. The news that it was the first time we had found evidence of life on a planet other than our own was a pretty big deal. President Bill Clinton held a press conference, and the Senate Science, Technology and Space Subcommittee of the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee held a hearings.

However, there were dissenting views. Many scientists came forward to express their opinions that the evidence observed in the rock could all have been formed without the presence of  biological activity. The last congressional hearing, held on September 25, 1996, concluded that “more studies are needed and the only way this can be accomplished is by sending additional spacecraft to Mars to collect more samples.”

In essence, they called it a draw, and the debate continues.

Dick is also examining the effects of contact with more complex extraterrestrials, such as those that might contact us via radio signals. The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) is monitoring the great void of space for those signals, should they exist, but what if they begin to receive messages?
