Legendary reputation as the Dr. Funkenstein of holiday party monsters notwithstanding, De Void spent a decent portion of the Thanksgiving weekend in sedentary repose, reviewing DVD-archived presentations at last year’s “Symposium on Official & Scientific Investigations of UAP (UFOs)." De Void initially monitored this two-day conference with its stellar cast in lame remote abbreviated fashion when it happened in late June 2013. But after actually (finally) listening to the speakers, De Void easily recommends this package as a conversation-starter for academics fearless enough to contemplate the merits of The Great Taboo as potential brain-food curricula.

De Void’s belated look at a year-and-a-half-old UFO hearing was triggered by the apparent enthusiasm from American University faculty and administrators last month over the success of a smaller but no less compelling forum in Washington, D.C. AU's key speakers — author Leslie Kean, NARCAP founder Richard Haines, and retired USAF colonel Charles Halt — were also featured at the 2013 gathering, and honors course instructor John Weiskopf expressed a desire to offer the class again. It’ll take a lot of John Weiskopfs to build institutional support for UFOs as a scholarly concern, but De Void's betting this provocative and underpublicized DVD set is strong enough to nudge forward-thinking administrators off the fence.

Pseudo-skeptic: How big is De Void’s kickback? A: Zero. But De Void was sent a comp after wondering whatever happened to the guy who scraped together a small fortune to create the ad hoc Center for UFO Research, which financed that 2013 symposium in Greensboro, N.C.

Tar Heel Kent Senter, whose cancer diagnosis spurred him into action, is still alive and struggling with multiple myeloma, which is no longer in remission. He has no regrets about the range and depth of his lineup, which included a university political scientist, a textbook-writing astronomer, and a university sociologist. But audience turnout was dispiriting. Senter says the venue could’ve accommodated 2,000 people; maybe 200 showed up. Maybe he shouldn’t have scheduled it so close to Independence Day. Maybe he spent too much on cable advertising and not enough on online marketing. Maybe he could've drawn a bigger crowd if he'd booked more Little Green Men bauble vendors in the lobby.

“I wanted this to be as scientific as possible, not talking about space aliens or that kind of malarkey,” says Senter. “We can’t even get past things flying around in the sky, much less whatever may be inside these vehicles, if that’s what they are. Other countries like France and Chile are acknowledging this without it being a taboo, but we live in a culture where people still make jokes and laugh about it — and it’s got to stop.”

Senter, whose own repeated UFO encounters began when he was a kid and could fill a weird and lengthy book, had hoped his conference might create some sustaining momentum. In fact, high level representatives from two official foreign UFO research agencies — Xavier Passot of France and Jose Lay of Chile — bumped fists for the first time in North Carolina and resumed their data-sharing discussions last month in France. But the needle barely flickered on the home front.

“Oh, people still keep pointing to my conference and talking about it,” Senter concedes. “And our state director came up to me at a conference in Winston-Salem and said she’d gotten an invitation to speak about it at a community college, and that was nice to hear.”

That was Lakita Adams, director of North Carolina’s MUFON chapter, English teacher, and one-time  environmental educator with the North Carolina Zoo. Adams takes the “militant agnostic” approach to The Great Taboo, i.e., pushing no particular theory, but being persistent and public in pursuit of answers. She's been a longtime advocate for college-level engagement. But that was futile until, at the Greensboro conference, she met a Guilford Technical Community College instructor who urged her to approach GTCC admin about staging a lecture.

“It took him about 18 months to get the speaker committee to agree to it,” says Adams, who finally landed a 45-minute GTCC speaking gig in November. Maybe 100 people showed up at the auditorium, and the event was live-streamed to its other campuses. She also got an invite to speak at UNC-Wilmington next April.

“I know Kent was disappointed with the turnout in Greensboro, but I think it probably went much farther than he knows,” Adams says. “It’s difficult, especially when you know most people won’t bother to get acquainted with the good material that’s out there. But you just keep chipping away at it a little bit at a time.”

Mars : le robot Curiosity a trouvé un grand lac

"Le cratère de Gale avait un grand lac s'étendant sur 155 km, peut-être même une série de lacs, suffisamment grands pour avoir existé il y a des millions d'années, le temps de se former, de s'assécher et entre-temps d'accumuler assez de sédiments pour former le mont Sharp", a indiqué Michael Meyer, responsable du programme Curiosity, lundi 8 décembre. "Nous pouvons ainsi répondre à deux grandes questions quant au cratère de Gale : comment s'est formé le mont Sharp et combien de temps l'eau a été présente pour permettre l'existence d'une vie microbienne", a-t-il souligné.

Un climat totalement différent de maintenant

"Nous avons examiné tout un ensemble de roches pour essayer de produire une image du passé du cratère de Gale et maintenant nous commençons à voir une représentation complète", a ajouté Sanjeev Gupta, un des membres de l'équipe scientifique. John Grotzinger, le responsable scientifique de la mission Curiosity, a expliqué que la direction d'écoulement des eaux telle qu'indiquée par la disposition des couches sédimentaires suggère que le mont Sharp, haut de 5 500 m, n'existait pas au moment où il y avait le lac. "Le mont Sharp a été formé par une série d'accumulations de sédiments et d'érosion", a-t-il dit.

Pour qu'un lac aussi vaste et des rivières aient pu exister aussi longtemps sur Mars, il a fallu que le climat soit totalement différent de ce qu'il est depuis deux milliards d'années, à savoir sec et froid. Si le modèle de la formation de mont Sharp de la Nasa est exacte, l'atmosphère martienne était alors beaucoup plus épaisse et plus chaude pour permettre à l'eau d'exister à l'état liquide, selon les scientifiques. En outre, l'atmosphère devait être très humide, ce qui pourrait aussi signifier qu'un océan générait assez d'évaporation pour produire des précipitations capables d'alimenter ce lac et les rivières.

 Warminister, Wiltshire, UK

The vast field of Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, southern England, is a stretch of verdant land steeped in history. Chile's UFO Trail

Over the past two decades residents in Chile's central district have recorded so many UFO sightings that in 2008 the town of Sam Clemente opened a "UFO trail". The 19-mile stretch weaves through the Andes mountains, whose plateaus are said to make great landing pads for the spacecraft. Even though the area has long been known as a destination for UFO sightings, the move likely had a bit more to do with
bringing in tourist dollars than it did unidentified spacecrafts. Along the trail tourists and UFO hunters alike can read signs that detail well-known sightings and visit restaurants, camping sites, hostels and cabins. And though Sernatur — the country's official tourism service — backed the initiative, it nonetheless claims, "In no way can we guarantee that a tourist coming to San Clemente will see a UFO."

Mexico City

On July 11, 1991 a total solar eclipse began over the Pacific Ocean and Hawaii, moved over Mexico and Central America and down to South America, ending in Brazil. In Mexico City, people reported seeing much more than a rare celestial event. In what has been called one of the largest mass UFO sightings ever, a number of Mexicans reported seeing a strange hovering craft as they were watching the eclipse. Sightings also apparently happened in other Mexican cities, but it's hard not to wonder whether some of these people were just seeing spots because they weren't wearing their eclipse safety glasses.

Stephenville, Texas(

Texas is a UFO hotspot in its own right, always ranking at the top of MUFON and UFORC list so that must make Stephenville TX white hot. It has been the location of one of the most incredible mass UFO sightings in the history of the USA.
In January 2008, dozens of people reported something strange hovering in the night sky. It was described as a mile-wide, silent object that flew low to the ground. Some said it moved incredibly fast. A local newspaper reporter said it had very intense, bright lights. The story later made it onto CNN's Larry King Live, which did an entire hour on the sighting. So was it life from another planet? Not so, said the U.S. Air Force a couple weeks later, explaining that ten Air Force Reserve F-16 fighter jets were the cause of the lights seen over the central Texas town. Elk River Minnesota

Know for good fishing and a lot of snow, this unremarkable city north of Minneapolis has had its share of remarkable UFO sightings. The strange happenings began in the 1990's and have not let up since.

Sightings in or near the town of Elk River, Minnesota, have made the area a UFO hot-spot, especially famous sightings and encounters in the 1990's. UFOs were often seen moving low to the ground or hovering, either silently or with a low humming sound. Strange shapes sighted have included cigar, wing, or v-shaped craft, regular old saucers, and even jellyfish shaped UFOs (as seen above left).

Colares Island, Brazil

Brazil has been in the forefront of UFO sightings in South America for decades, the government has recently made some strong efforts move UFO disclosure forward. The Colares flap refers to an outbreak of UFO sightings that occurred in 1977 on the Brazilian Island of Corales. During the outbreak, the UFOs attack left two dead and injured over 100. These sightings led to the Brazilian government dispatching a team to investigate under the codename Operation Saucer (Portuguese: Operação Prato), but the government later recalled the team and classified the files until the
late 1990s. To this day the island of Corales is still seeing UFOs but most sightings rarely make the news.

Bonnybridge, Scotland

There's something special about Bonnybridge, Scotland. Since 1992, the small town has been the sight of an unusually high number of UFO sightings. In fact, Bonnybridge lies in what UFO believers call "The Falkirk Triangle," an area of land between the cities Stirling, Fife and the outer neighborhoods of Edinburgh where people routinely report unidentified objects sailing through the sky. The Scottish
government says it receives over 300 UFO sightings from Bonnybridge and surrounding areas every year.   UFO reports have continued over the years, leading some people to believe they are real. Nullarbor Plain, Australia

"Crossing the Nullarbor", for many Australians, is a quintessential experience of the "Australian Outback". Stickers bought from roadhouses on the highway show "I have crossed the Nullarbor", and can be seen on vehicles of varying quality or capacity for long distance travel. This place first made its bones as a UFO hotspot when the British military began testing atomic bombs there in the 1950s. Since then, the extremely isolated area has become a hub of intense UFO activity. Numerous people traveling through its harsh desert reported having their cars chased by UFOs. These, plus reports of alien abductions, drove the Australian government to erect a highway sign that reads: "Beware of UFOs."

Asteroid approaches Earth 20 times bigger than Chelyabinsk Meteor

There could be up to 10 million asteroids and meteors in the Solar System, which are 15 meters and more in diameter, and only 10,000 have been detected so far, says Anatoly Zaitsev, the General Director of the Citadel Project at the Planetary Security Center.

At the end of October Russian astronomers discovered a new cosmic body, which became known as asteroid 2014 UR116. It is 20 times larger than the Chelyabinsk meteorite. The cosmic body’s trajectory will run near Venus and Mars, and there is a possibility that its path will shift towards our planet.

According to rtbh.com -Denis Denisenko, an astronomer at Moscow State University's Astronomical Institute said: “We estimate that in the next six years it will not collide with Earth. The uncertainty of its position in space during the next encounter with Earth in October 2017 is calculated to be 1.8 million kilometers, but it is still impossible to predict the date or even the approximate place where 2014 UR116 might hit Earth but the asteroid's future encounter with Mars and Venus, can substantially change its orbit.”

Denisenko: “Asteroids of this size (about 370 meters long) are capable of causing a catastrophe, but not the end of humanity.”

Now, leading scientists and astronomers join and they are calling for more action to prevent a devastating asteroid strike.

The first stage in creating an international system for protecting the Earth from unwanted newcomers - the emergency-response stage - could be implemented within five to seven years, provided there is the political will, since we have all the necessary technologies, says Zaitsev.

Twenty organizations from Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan are taking part in Citadel Project. The project involves the creation of a space observation and detection segment, two regional planetary-security centers, as well as reconnaissance and interception services.

The space segment will detect potentially dangerous objects on remote approaches to the Earth and will send to them a spy vehicle to clarify their trajectory. Then it will trigger an interceptor vehicle carrying a nuclear explosive device.

The interceptor is expected to weigh 4 tonnes and deliver a nuclear charge of 2 megatonnes. Before the conflict started in Ukraine, the plan had involved the use of Zenit carrier rockets.

"The simulation conducted in Snezhinsk showed that an asteroid with a 500-meter diameter could be destroyed by a distributed nuclear charge of 10 units, each with a 1-megatonne capacity and he reckons that prospective missile defense weapons could be used for regional protection against asteroids, but by now, the Emergency Situations Ministry has created a system for predicting possible asteroid impact sites, which will allow to warn the public about a potentially dangerous situation well beforehand" Zaitsev said.

Cosmic Glow Discovered --"Radiates More Light than All the Known Galaxies in the Universe"

December 7, 2014 - Using an experiment carried into space on a NASA suborbital rocket, astronomers at Caltech and their colleagues have detected a diffuse cosmic glow that appears to represent more light than that produced by known galaxies in the universe. Initially some researchers proposed that this light came from the very first galaxies to form and ignite stars after the Big Bang. CalTech researchers say that the best explanation is that the cosmic light originates from stars that were stripped away from their parent galaxies and flung out into space as those galaxies collided and merged with other galaxies.

  The discovery suggests that many such previously undetected stars permeate what had been thought to be dark spaces between galaxies, forming an interconnected sea of stars. "Measuring such large fluctuations surprised us, but we carried out many tests to show the results are reliable," says CalTech Fellow Michael Zemcov, who led the study. 

Although they cannot be seen individually, "the total light produced by these stray stars is about equal to the background light we get from counting up individual galaxies," says Bock, also a senior research scientist at JPL. Bock is the principal investigator of the rocket project, called the Cosmic Infrared Background Experiment, or CIBER, which originated at Caltech and flew on four rocket flights from 2009 through 2013.

In earlier studies, NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope, which sees the universe at longer wavelengths, had observed a splotchy pattern of infrared light called the cosmic infrared background. The splotches are much bigger than individual galaxies. "We are measuring structures that are grand on a cosmic scale," says Zemcov, "and these sizes are associated with galaxies bunching together on a large-scale pattern."

CIBER was designed to help settle the debate. "CIBER was born as a conversation with Asantha Cooray, a theoretical cosmologist at UC Irvine and at the time a postdoc at Caltech with [former professor] Marc Kamionkowski," Bock explains. "Asantha developed an idea for studying galaxies by measuring their large-scale structure. Galaxies form in dark-matter halos, which are over-dense regions initially seeded in the early universe by inflation. Furthermore, galaxies not only start out in these halos, they tend to cluster together as well. Asantha had the brilliant idea to measure this large-scale structure directly from maps. Experimentally, it is much easier for us to make a map by taking a wide-field picture with a small camera, than going through and measuring faint galaxies one by one with a large telescope."

Cooray originally developed this approach for the longer infrared wavelengths observed by the European Space Agency's Herschel Space Observatory. "With its 3.5-meter diameter mirror, Herschel is too small to count up all the galaxies that make the infrared background light, so he instead obtained this information from the spatial structure in the map," Bock says.

"Meanwhile, I had been working on near-infrared rocket experiments, and was interested in new ways to use this unique idea to study the extragalactic background," he says. The extragalactic infrared background represents all of the infrared light from all of the sources in the universe, "and there were some hints we didn't know where it was all coming from. Alien abduction thriller seeks to bring topic to the forefront

Filming for Abductee , a found-footage thriller about alien abduction, will soon be underway, but the movie’s producer says it “is more than just a film; it is a social movement.”

In their press release, the movie’s production company, Collective Minds Media, writes that they are not only beginning production on an alien abduction movie, but also developing an abductee support community.

The movie is described as, “a found-footage style film that explores the bizarre and misunderstood world of alien abduction. Through a first-person account, we come to know the fear and mental anguish that befalls a suburban man as he attempts to unravel the mystery of what happens to him when he is alone in the middle of the night.”

William Hopp, the movie’s writer and director says, “It is a psychological thriller that focuses on the emotional trauma that alien abductees go through on a day to day basis.”

Hopp says he did a lot of research when writing his script. Although it is a horror movie, he hopes the movie will have a therapeutic effect to people who believe they are experiencing alien abduction. He wants to help give alien abductees a voice.

The press release states, “It is the filmmakers’ goal that Abductee will illuminate the stigmatized world of alien abductees and provide them with a common bond to enable group support and healing.”

Hopp says most of the funding has come from crowd sourcing and that he has purposely sought non-traditional routes of funding in order to help keep the movie  accurate. According to the press release, “Privately funding the film has allowed the filmmakers to produce a movie that enlists the support of abductees and alien experts from the ground up. Keeping investors out of the mix will keep the film free of the control exerted by Hollywood executives and movie studios, which can destroy a film’s purpose and impact.”

Paranormal expert James Smith feels the movie is treating the subject respectfully. He says, “I really agree the movie respects the community because it’s not making those effected out to be complete and total fringe weirdoes.”

Hopp appeared on Open Minds UFO Radio while seeking funds for production, but has come a long way since then. He has enlisted the help of Emmy award winning producer and director Trisha Krik. She won her Emmy in 2009 for her work on the popular A&E reality program Intervention.

They have also locked in the majority of the filming locations and their two leads, Virginia Newcomb and Dusty Sorg. The two have 25 years of accumulated experience in TV and film.

Odd distribution of organics in Titan’s atmosphere could be a sign of extraterrestrial life

A recent, brief observation of Saturn’s moon Titan revealed unusual groupings of organic molecules in the atmosphere.

Scientists made the discovery while observing Titan’s atmosphere using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) in Chile’s Atacama desert. “A single 3 minute observation revealed organic molecules that are askew in the atmosphere of Titan,” Universe Today explains. “The molecules in question should be smoothly distributed across the atmosphere, but they are not.”

A National Radio Astronomy Observatory press release calls this a “potentially groundbreaking discovery.”

Universe Today points out that, “When one hears there is a strange, skewed combination of organic compounds somewhere, the first thing to come to mind is life.” So far, researchers don’t have an obvious explanation for the discovery. But they are exploring other possible causes.

“These ALMA observations give us new insights into how organic molecules, the building blocks of life, form and evolve in a planet-like environment,” says astronomer Anthony Remijan of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory. “It is exciting to imagine the new discoveries ALMA will enable as we look more deeply at other interesting objects in our Solar System.”

The research on these unexpected variations in Titan’s atmosphere was published in the Astrophysical Journal Letters.

Another powerful tool in the hunt for extraterrestrial life, the European Extremely Large Telescope (E-ELT), is currently under construction, and is also in Chile’s Atacama desert. This tool will be the world’s largest optical and infrared telescope when it is completed in 2024, and it will have the ability to directly image exoplanets and study the atmospheres of planets, helping scientists identify worlds that may support life as we know it.

'Mars Rover Curiosity, An inside account from Curiosity's chief engineer' biedt de lezer een getuigenverslag van de planning en de bouw van het meest complexe staaltje machinerie dat ooit ontworpen is om op een andere planeet te landen. Technische uitdagingen, bezuinigingen en ontwerpwijzigingen achtervolgden het team, wat uiteindelijk leidde tot twee jaar uitstel van de missie.

Maar tien jaar en twee miljard dollar later kan het team het ene succes na het andere vieren. Afgelopen zomer vierde de Curiosity zijn tweede verjaardag op Mars. In die tijd deed de Marswagen tal van baanbrekende ontdekkingen. Een overzicht.

Een van zijn eerste ontdekkingen deed de Curiosity al vlak na de landing op Mars. In september 2012 vond de Marsjeep rotsen die vermoedelijk afgerond en afgevlakt waren door een oude rivier. De lagen van het grondgesteente zijn volgens wetenschappers het bewijs dat er ooit een kniediepe waterstroom was. Waar het water naartoe ging, is nog niet duidelijk: mogelijk verdween het in de rotsen of verdampte het in de atmosfeer.

Leven op Mars?

In december 2012 maakte NASA groot nieuws bekend. De Curiosity had in de bodem van de Rode Planeet heel wat tekenen van leven gevonden. Uit metingen bleek dat de juiste omstandigheden er aanwezig waren om levende microben te ondersteunen. Door in de gesteenten te boren, ontdekte de Marsjeep de sleutelingrediënten die leven mogelijk maken: koolstof, waterstof, zuurstof, fosfor en zwavel. De kleimineralen en het weinige zout die gevonden werden, wijzen uit dat er ooit drinkbaar water geweest kan zijn.

Het beste bewijs dat tot nu toe gevonden werd, zijn foto's van kiezelstenen die de Curiosity nam in de Gale-krater. De stenen zijn samengesteld uit zand, zoals typisch in rivierbeddingen op Aarde. Wanneer stenen door wind en zandstormen verweren, worden ze rauw en hoekig. Maar volgens wetenschappers is te zien dat nagenoeg alle van de 515 geanalyseerde kiezelstenen vlak, glad en afgeslepen zijn.

Geen methaan, geen leven?

In september 2013 stelde NASA vast dat de Curiosity nog geen enkel spoor van methaan had gevonden in de atmosfeer van Mars. Dat doet de kans dat er leven is slinken. Levende organismen, zoals wij die kennen, produceren methaan. Om te bewijzen dat er ooit leven op Mars was, gingen wetenschappers daarom op zoek naar deze substantie. De zoektocht gaat intussen nog steeds verder.

Wetenschappers verwonderen zich over de variëteit aan grond- en steensoorten die gevonden werden in de Gale-krater. De Curiosity ontdekte er verschillende soorten grind, vulkanische gesteenten, duinen, moddergesteenten en barsten vol mineralen. Uit foto's blijkt overigens dat de rode stof die de planeet kenmerkt maar een dun laagje is. Daaronder is Mars wit.

Onlangs bereikte de Marsjeep zijn ultieme bestemming, Mount Sharp. De Curiosity zal de komende jaren de geologische lagen van de berg onderzoeken.

Mars Onderzoek van de succesrijke robotjeep Mars Curiosity heeft geleerd dat de berg Mount Sharp in het landingsgebied door... water is gevormd. Dat heeft het Amerikaanse ruimtevaartbureau NASA vandaag gemeld. De vondst heeft nog grotere implicaties.

Alien movie ‘Ejecta’ plays on secret government conspiracies

IFC Midnight is making it clear that UFOs and aliens are a key focus in the company’s content portfolio. The subsidiary of AMC Networks acquired distribution rights to two UFO-related films earlier this year: Hangar 10 and Extraterrestrial. And, this distribution label has reportedly just acquired distribution rights for another UFO-related movie titled Ejecta.

Entertainment news website Bloody Disgusting describes that, in Ejecta, “reclusive UFO conspiracy theorist William Cassidy is taken prisoner by a secret government agency investigating the arrival of an alien life form. Through flashbacks they uncover the terrifying details of what happened the night the alien returned and changed everything we thought we knew about the universe.”

The movie was written by Tony Burgess, directed by Chad Archibald and Matt Wiele, and produced by independent studio Foresight Features. Dee Wallace, the mom from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, makes a cameo in this film. The film also stars Julian Richings, Lisa Houle, and Adam Seybold.

Ejecta premiered back in August at the 2014 Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal. It’s unclear what IFC Midnight has planned for the movie. But, if it follows the same formula used for Hangar 10 and Extraterrestrial, the movie will soon be made available as video-on-demand, and released in select theaters.

5 Alien Abduction Cases That Will Creep You The Eff Out

1. Allagash Abductions

In 1976 four friends in their early 20s went camping in rural Maine. On the second night, they noticed a very bright light but nothing more. On the third night, they decided to try night fishing. In the canoe, they noticed the bright light again. One of the men used a flashlight to flash light in an SOS pattern at the light.

The light then expanded and enveloped all four men.

That’s the last thing they remember. They “woke up” back at their campsite with no recollection of what ended up happening with the light or how they got off the water. The fire they’d stoked up before they left just minutes ago (intending it to still be burning when they returned) was completely burned down to embers.

The aftermath:

Jack Weiner was the first to start having nightmares. In these dreams, he saw beings with long necks and large heads. He saw the beings examining his arm while Jim, Chuck, and Charlie sat on a nearby bench, not able to intervene.

The beings had large metallic glowing eyes with no lids, and their hands were insect-like, with four fingers. The other three men were experiencing very similar dreams, with short, mental clips of that night on the lake. In 1988, out of curiosity, Jim Weiner attended a UFO conference hosted by Raymond Fowler.

Weiner met Fowler afterwards and related his strange encounter. The investigator was excited about Jim’s story, especially the fact that it was a multiple witness occurrence. Fowler suggested to Jim that he and the others undergo regressive hypnosis. After the sessions it was revealed that all four of the men had memories of being abducted and subjected to humiliating physical examinations, including the taking of skin and fluid samples.

The description of the aliens was consistent. The four men – being artists – were able to make detailed sketches of the entities, the craft, and the examining instruments. Chuck Rak added that the aliens’ test area was similar to a vet’s office, with a silvery table. He also related a strange fact: he had much difficulty in focusing on the aliens. When he tried, he could not put an exact image to them. He compared it to trying to tune in a fuzzy radio station.

After the psychiatric examinations, all four of the men were deemed to be mentally stable, and they all passed lie-detector tests.

2. Pascagoula Abduction

In 1973 two coworkers were fishing off a pier on the Pascagoula River when they heard a buzzing sound and saw flashing blue lights. A UFO appeared and three humanoid creatures dragged them on board. Inside the craft they were examined for about 20 minutes before being “levitated” back to the pier.

Afterwards they went to the police station to report what happened. While they detectives left the two alone in the room, their conversation was unknowingly recorded:

CHARLIE: I’ve never seen nothin’ like that before in my life. You can’t make people believe-
CALVIN: I don’t want to keep sittin’ here. I want to see a doctor-
CHARLIE: They better wake up and start believin’… they better start believin’.
CALVIN: You see how that damn door come right up?
CHARLIE: I don’t know how it opened, son. I don’t know.
CALVIN: It just laid up and just like that those son’ bitches-just like that they come out.
CHARLIE: I know. You can’t believe it. You can’t make people believe it-
CALVIN: I paralyzed right then. I couldn’t move-
CHARLIE: They won’t believe it. They gonna believe it one of these days. Might be too late. I knew all along they was people from other worlds up there. I knew all along. I never thought it would happen to me.

3. Betty and Barney Hill

In 1961 a married couple (both “normal” by all accounts and leaders in their community) were driving home from a vacation at Niagara Falls when they saw what they thought was a falling star, but it moved around in the sky and began to grow bigger. They decided to drive slowly along the road and follow the light as it grew closer to them in the sky, eventually stopping in the middle of the highway as the object hovered only 80-100 feet from them.

At this point Barney Hill commits a horror movie no-no and gets out of the car to get a closer look. After seeing a craft with 8-11 “humanoid” creatures in black uniforms on it. He screamed “They’re going to capture us!” and ran back to the car and the couple drove home.

A trip that should have taken three hours mysteriously took seven. The Hills could not account for the missing time. Additionally, a lot of other strange things happened, leading them to conclude they had been abducted:

Arriving home at about dawn, the Hills assert that they had some odd sensations and impulses they could not readily explain: Betty insisted their luggage be kept near the back door rather than in the main part of the house. Their watches would never run again. Barney noted that the leather strap for the binoculars was torn, though he could not recall it tearing. The toes of his best dress shoes were inexplicably scraped. Barney says he was compelled to examine his genitals in the bathroom, though he found nothing unusual. They took long showers to remove possible contamination and each drew a picture of what they had observed. Their drawings were strikingly similar.

Perplexed, the Hills say they tried to reconstruct the chronology of events as they witnessed the UFO and drove home. But immediately after they heard the buzzing sounds, their memories became incomplete and fragmented. They vaguely recalled a luminous moon shape sitting on the road. Barney recalled saying “Oh no, not again”. Betty thought Barney had taken a sharp left turn off Route 3.

After sleeping for a few hours, Betty awoke and placed the shoes and clothing she had worn during the drive into her closet, observing that the dress was torn at the hem, zipper and lining. Later, when she retrieved the items from her closet, she noted a pinkish powder on her dress. She hung the dress on her clothesline and the pink powder blew away. But the dress was irreparably damaged. She threw it away, but then changed her mind, retrieving the dress and hanging it in her closet. Over the years, five laboratories have conducted chemical and forensic analyses on the dress.

There were shiny, concentric circles on their car’s trunk that had not been there the previous day. Betty and Barney experimented with a compass, noting that when they moved it close to the spots, the needle would whirl rapidly. But when they moved it a few inches away from the shiny spots, it would drop down.

As time passed, Betty and Barney remembered more and more details of their abduction. Here is a map of a solar system constructed from hypnotherapy sessions:

Antônio Vilas Boas was a Brazilian farmer who was working at night because it was too hot to work during the day when he saw a red star in the sky. As the light grew larger (closer) he tried to drive away in his tractor, but it died. He then tried running away when he was accosted by four humanoid creatures that dragged him into the now landed craft.

They stripped him, covered him with a weird gel, and then took blood samples. This is where things get weird(er). A female humanoid creature appeared…and they had sex. Some hand motions followed that Boas took to mean he had impregnated the creature and that she was going to leave, have the child, and raise it wherever she was from. Then, they gave him a tour of their spaceship before dropping him off.

He went on to become a lawyer and have a family, if that means anything to you as to whether he was crazy.

A comet is a very small solar system body made mostly of ices mixed with smaller amounts of dust and rock. Most comets are no larger than a few kilometres across. The main body of the comet is called the nucleus, and it can contain water, methane, nitrogen and other ices.

When a comet is heated by the Sun, its ices begin to sublimate (similar to the way dry ice “fizzes” when you leave it in sunlight). The mixture of ice crystals and dust blows away from the comet nucleus in the solar wind, creating a pair of tails. The dust tail is what we normally see when we view comets from Earth.

A plasma tail also forms when molecules of gas are “excited” by interaction with the solar wind. The plasma tail is not normally seen with the naked eye, but can be imaged. Comets normally orbit the Sun, and have their origins in the Oort Cloud and Kuiper Belt regions of the outer solar system.

Comet Naming

Comets come in several categories. The most common are periodic and non-periodic.

In the past, comets were named for their discoverers, such as Comet Halley for Sir Edmond Halley. In modern times, comet names are governed by rules set forth by the International Astronomical Union (IAU). A comet is given an official designation, and can also be identified by the last names of up to three independent discoverers.

Here’s how it works. Once a comet has been confirmed, the following naming rules are followed. First, if the comet is a periodic comet, then it is indicated with a P/ followed by the year of its discovery, a letter indicating the half-month in which it was discovered, followed by a number indicating its order of discovery. So, for example, the second periodic comet found in the first half of January, 2015 would be called P/2015 A2.

A non-periodic comet would be indicated with a C/ followed by the year of its discovery, a letter indicating the half-month in which it was discovered, followed by a number indicating its order of discovery.

If a comet is independently discovered by three people named Smith, Jones, and Petersen, it could also be called Comet Smith-Jones-Petersen, in addition to its formal designation. Today, many comets are found through automated instrument searches, and so the formal designations are more commonly used.

Famous Comets

Well-known comets include the non-periodic comets Hale-Bopp (C/1995 O1), Hyakutake (C/1996 B2), McNaught (C2006 P1), and Lovejoy (C/2011 W3). These flared brightly in our skies and then faded into obscurity.

In addition, Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 (D/1993 F2) was spotted after it had broken up after a close call with Jupiter. (The D in its proper designation means it has disappeared or is determined to no longer exist). More than a year later, the pieces of the comet crashed into Jupiter.

The periodic Comet Halley (1P/Halley) is the most famous in history. It returns to the inner solar system once every 76 years. Other well-known periodic comets include 2P/Encke, which appears ever 3.3 years and 9P/Tempel (Tempel 2), which was visited by the Deep Impact and Stardust probes, and makes perihelion around the Sun every 5.5 years.

Facts about Comets

There are many misconceptions about comets, which are simply pieces of solar system ices travelling in orbit around the Sun. Here are some fascinating and true facts about comets.

1. The nucleus of a comet is made of ice and can be as small as a few meters across to giant boulders a few kilometres across.
2. The closest point in a comet’s orbit to the Sun is called “perihelion”. The most distant point is called “aphelion”.
3. As a comet gets closer to the Sun, it begins to experience heat. That causes some of its ices to sublimate (similar to dry ice sizzling in sunlight). If the ice is close to the comet’s surface, it may form a small “jet” of material spewing out from the comet like a mini-geyser.
4. Material streams from comets and populates the comet’s orbit. If Earth (or another planet) happens to move through that stream, those particles fall to Earth as meteor showers.
5. As a comet gets close to the Sun, it loses some of its mass due to the sublimation. If a comet goes around enough times, it will eventually break up. Comets also break up if they come TOO close to the Sun or another planet in their orbits.
6. Comets are usually made of frozen water and supercold methane, ammonia and carbon dioxide ices. Those are mixed with rock, dust, and other metallic bits of solar system debris.
7. Comets have two tails: a dust tail (which you can see with the naked eye) and a plasma tail, which is easily photographed but difficult to see with your eyes.
8. Comet orbits are usually elliptical.
9. Many comets formed in the Oort Cloud and Kuiper Belts, two of the outermost regions of the solar system.
10. Comets are not spaceships or alien bases. They are fascinating bits of solar system material that date back to the formation of the Sun and planets.

Air Force Pilot Chases Alien Craft Over Fargo

AIR FORCE PILOT CHASES ALIEN CRAFT OVER FARGO
 OCTOBER 1, 1948………… FARGO NORTH DAKOTA

One of the early “classics” of UFO history involved Lieutenant George F. Gorman of the North Dakota Air National Guard, who said he had a twenty-seven minute “dogfight” with a UFO in the skies above Fargo.  Date: October 1, 1948-Location: Fargo, North Dakota.  Gorman, then manager of a Fargo construction company, told this story to Air Force investigators:  On the night of October 1, 1948, he had been on a cross-country flight with his squadron. Upon return to Hector airport in Fargo, he elected to log some night flying time, so he remained airborne after the other planes had landed. He had circled his F-51 over the lighted football stadium and around the city and was preparing to land about 9 P.M.  The control tower cleared him to land, advising him about a Piper Cub in the vicinity – the only other plane – and he could see the light aircraft outlined plainly about 500 feet below him. What appeared to be the taillight of a plane passed him on the right, but the tower insisted they knew of no other planes in the area.  Gorman informed the tower that he was going to investigate the other aircraft and pulled his F-51 up and out toward the moving light. He closed to within about 1,000 yards and took a good look at the object.   “It was about six to eight inches in diameter, clear white, and completely round without fuzz at the edges [i.e., sharp and clear]. It was blinking on and off. As I approached, however, the light suddenly became steady and pulled into a sharp left bank. I thought it was making a pass at the tower.  I dived after it and brought my manifold pressure up to sixty inches but I couldn’t catch up with the thing. It started gaining altitude and again made a left bank, I put my F-51 into a sharp turn and tried to cut the light off in its turn. By then we were at about 7,000 feet. Suddenly it made a sharp right turn and we headed straight at each other. Just when we were about to collide, I guess I got scared. I went into a dive and the light passed over my canopy at about 500 feet. Then, it made a left circle about 1,000 feet above, and I gave chase again.”  Gorman said he cut sharply toward the light, which was once more coming at him. When collision again seemed imminent, the object shot straight up into the air in a steep climb-out, disappearing overhead. Gorman again attempted to pursue it but his plane went into a power stall at about 14,000 feet, and the object was not seen again. It was then 9:27 P.M.  Gorman was so shaken by the encounter that he had difficulty handing his plane, although he was a veteran pilot and a flying instructor during World War II. He had noticed no sound, odor, or exhaust trail from the object during the “dogfight,” and no deviation on his instruments. At times during the chase, he had pushed the F-51 to full power, sometimes reaching 400 mph. He described the object as round and somewhat flattened.

Video #1: On this video you will see an Energy U.F.O Ball of Light traveling overhead…..When Scanning the skies an Energy ball was captured on Film..Traveling at high altitude.(used the top pf the tree/roof tops as Reference points). .I did not hear any noise coming from this unknown object…As you can see on the video these object seems to be emitting some kind of glowing energy…In my opinion this glowing energy U.F.O was clearly no aircraft or satellite ..

Video #2: On this video you will see an Energy U.F.O Ball of Light traveling underneath some clouds….As i was Scanning the sky,i notice this orb traveling by some clouds…As you can see on the video this object seems to travel under the clouds..I continue to follow it as it traveled overhead..It appear to be under Intelligent Controlled..Was traveling at a constant speed and direction..At some point it began to get brighter and travels out of sight…..In my opinion this object is clearly not an aircraft or weather balloon/satellite…

Report UFO sighting #182

S72 9BX Nr Barnsley – 05.12.14
Around 11:45 today, coming from the North there was three bright lights in the sky (one had a with a flashing light, much like the planes coming from that direction from a flight path).  However, the other two did not and they were off just bright.  My husband, Son and I watched these three light all in formation for approximately a couple of minutes until and fourth and I thought a possible fifth were also seen and were flying away together at the same altitude.  They were very high in the sky but there was no noise to say there were four/possibly five in a (NIKE brand tick formation ).  I have taken two photos as I was rushing around trying to find the camera, one I cannot see anything having viewed it, the others seem to be reflective orbs from the camera.  I don’t know if you can view anything yourself from these photos, and I am not sure if I even took them at the right angle point.  I will sent them anyway.
My husband and I have seen many strange lights in that direction (however because there is a flight path around here I am always cynical).  The lights we saw tonight were really interesting and something that we have not seen before.
