Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

Is de oerknal een illusie? De holografische oorsprong van het heelal?
Is het universum 13,7 miljard jaar geleden wel ontstaan uit de oerknal? En zo ja, wat was de aanleiding voor die Big Bang? Onderzoekers van het Perimeter Institute in het Canadese Ontario hebben een nieuwe theorie met een stevige wiskundige basis bedacht.
Wat wij zien als de Big Bang, zo stellen ze, zou de driedimensionale luchtspiegeling van een exploderende ster kunnen zijn in een universum dat er heel anders uitziet dan het onze. Algemeen wordt gedacht dat het heelal ontstond uit een enorm heet punt met een oneindig grote dichtheid, ofwel een singulariteit. Singulariteiten zijn bizar en er is maar weinig over bekend.
“Wie weet vlogen er wel draken uit de singulariteit,” zei Niayesh Afshordi van het Perimeter Institute in een interview met Nature. Het probleem met de oerknaltheorie is dat ons relatief overzichtelijke, uniforme en voorspelbare universum moet zijn voortgekomen uit een bizar chaotische singulariteit. Dat lijkt volgens de onderzoekers erg onwaarschijnlijk.
Wellicht is er iets anders gebeurd. Wellicht is ons universum nooit een singulariteit geweest. De wetenschappers suggereren dat ons bekende heelal het driedimensionale ‘omhulsel’ is van de waarnemingshorizon van een vierdimensionaal zwart gat. In dit scenario ontstond ons heelal op het moment dat een ster in dit vierdimensionale universum implodeerde tot een zwart gat.
In ons driedimensionale heelal hebben zwarte gaten een tweedimensionale waarnemingshorizon, die de grens markeert van waarachter materie of licht niet meer terug kan. In het geval van een vierdimensionaal universum heeft een zwart gat een driedimensionale waarnemingshorizon.
In het voorgestelde scenario bevond ons universum zich nooit in de singulariteit, maar ontstond het buiten een waarnemingshorizon en werd het beschermd tegen de singulariteit. Het is slechts één van de overblijfselen van een geëxplodeerde vierdimensionale ster.
De onderzoekers benadrukken dat dit idee – hoe absurd het ook klinkt – een stevige wiskundige basis heeft. Ze maakten gebruik van holografie om de Big Bang te veranderen in een kosmische luchtspiegeling.
Hoe ziet een vierdimensionaal universum eruit? Het probleem is volgens de onderzoekers dat onze onvolmaakte menselijke intuïtie zich heeft ontwikkeld in een driedimensionale wereld waarin de realiteit grotendeels verborgen blijft. Ze trekken een parallel met Plato’s allegorie van de grot, waarin gevangenen gedurende hun leven enkel flikkerende schaduwen zien op de wand waar ze tegenaan kijken.
“Door hun boeien zijn ze niet in staat om de echte wereld te ervaren, een rijk met een extra dimensie,” schrijven ze. “Plato’s gevangenen begrepen de krachten achter de zon niet. Op dezelfde manier begrijpen wij het vierdimensionale universum niet.”

In 2001 vonden Canadese wetenschappers voor de westkust van Cuba resten van een 6000 jaar oude stad. De restanten werden met behulp van moderne sonarinstallaties aangetroffen op een diepte van maar liefst 650 meter, meldde de BBC destijds.
De eerste aanwijzingen voor het bestaan van een verzonken stad kwamen een jaar eerder aan het licht. Nader onderzoek wees op resten van granieten bouwwerken in onder meer de vorm van piramides. In januari 2002 begon een grootschaliger onderzoek naar de stad, vlak bij het schiereiland Guanahacabibes.
Er was veel aandacht voor de ontdekking. ‘Atlantis gevonden in Cuba’ en ‘Verloren stad in de Caraïben ontdekt’, kopten de kranten. De vondst trok ook de aandacht van de overheid, musea en National Geographic, die allemaal beloofden de sonarbeelden te bestuderen. We zijn inmiddels 13 jaar verder en weten eigenlijk nog net zo veel als toen.
Wat is er gebeurd met de verzonken ruïnes in Cuba? Zijn ze ooit onderzocht? En waarom is het al die tijd stil gebleven? De stad werd ontdekt door Pauline Zalitzki en haar man Paul Weinzweig, de eigenaars van het Canadese bedrijf Advanced Digital Communications (ADC).
Het bedrijf was door de Cubaanse overheid ingehuurd om de kustwateren te verkennen. Voor de kust van Cuba zijn in het koloniale tijdperk honderden schepen gezonken. De scheepswrakken bevatten naar verluidt vele schatten.
In juli 2001 keerde het tweetal samen met geoloog Manuel Iturralde van het Nationaal Historisch Museum van Cuba terug naar het gebied. De bouwwerken werden gefilmd met een onderwaterrobot. Ze bestonden uit granieten blokken van 2,5 bij 3 meter. Sommige blokken waren op elkaar gestapeld, terwijl andere verspreid over de bodem lagen.
Zalitzki zei dat ze dacht aan de ruïnes van een verzonken stad, maar wilde zonder verder bewijs geen conclusies trekken. Iturralde schatte dat het ongeveer 50.000 jaar moet hebben geduurd voordat de bouwwerken naar een diepte van 650 meter zijn gezonken. In die tijd waren er nog geen culturen bekend die dergelijke bouwwerken konden maken, aldus de geoloog.
Zalitsky en Weinzweig wilden de ruïnes niet vergelijken met de verloren stad Atlantis. “Dat verhaal is een mythe,” zei Zalitsky. “Wij hebben waarschijnlijk overblijfselen gevonden van een lokale cultuur die ooit op een 160 kilometer lange landbrug tussen het Mexicaanse schiereiland Yucatán en Cuba leefde.
Iturralde verwees naar een lokale legende van de Maya’s en de inheemse yucatecos die spreekt over een eiland dat werd bewoond door hun voorouders en uiteindelijk werd verzwolgen door de golven. Desalniettemin sloot de geoloog niet uit dat de rotsformaties kunnen zijn gevormd door moeder natuur.
Vreemd genoeg is er niets bekend over onderzoeken naar de ruïnes na 2001. Ook de media hebben er nagenoeg niets meer over gepubliceerd. Sommigen vermoeden dat cruciale informatie over de vondst wordt achtergehouden. Anderen menen dat experts er simpelweg niet van overtuigd waren dat Zalitsky daadwerkelijk een verzonken stad had ontdekt.

What really freaked me out is when I looked even closer and could make out what appeared to be what some call a (touchdown). But the beam of light coming from the bottom of the craft wasn’t light at all. It blended in with the sky and I could only see the edge of it. When suddenly the beam of whatever it was disappeared and the craft lights flashed starting with one bulb and went around the saucer ending with a single red flash from a bulb. That red flash was the last I saw from the craft as it quickly disappeared into the sky. I don’t know what that thing was but I am just curious if I and my friend are the only ones who saw this craft that night.
At several points in my life I have seen alien spacecraft that I am sure were not from this earth. I have a military background and I am sure that what I was seeing was not some type of new US government airplanes.
Just south of Charleston South Carolina is Folly Beach South Carolina. It is a barrier island with miles of public beach and at the end of Folly Beach on the Charleston Harbor side once stood Fort Wagner where some of the worst fighting in the Civil War happened. Almost all of the Unions 54th Massachusetts were killed there in the assault on Fort Wagner that stood at that time on Morris Island. The ocean has slowly reclaimed Morris Island over the many years since the Civil War and there is now nothing left of Morris Island except the old lighthouse.
When I lived at Folly Beach in the late 1990's the end of Folly Beach on the Charleston Harbor side was one of mine and my friends favorite fishing spots. We went there a lot for night fishing and really enjoyed the solitude and quite of that end of the barrier island. One night in the late spring of 1999 I and my friend were out at the end of the island fishing when we had several events happen that we would not soon forget.

Just after midnight my friend pointed out what looked like red and blue lights out in Charleston Harbor under the water. We watched those lights and tried to figure out what we were seeing but we just couldn't make out anything but the lights. About thirty minutes later we watched amazed as a round disc shaped object about 75 feet across came up out of the water and went right up in the air over us. It hovered there for just a minute or two and then it flew away at a great rate of speed out to sea. I and my friend were shocked by what we had seen and my friend asked me if I had heard the water pouring off of it to. I had and I told him so.
Just a few minutes later we saw three more of the craft come out of the water and disappear out to sea. All were disc shaped with red and blue lights and when they would come up out of the water you could hear the water run off them and fall back into the ocean. The first craft had hovered up in the air over us but the other three craft flew straight out to sea. We were both amazed at what we had seen and we wished we had a camera but we did not. About 40 minutes later about a half mile out to sea we watched as three craft appeared out of no where and just appeared to fly down and go back under the water. Stunned is not even the word for how we felt about what we had just seen.
Fishing was over at that point and we reeled in our rods and walked back to our car. The next night and several nights after that we were back out there with a camera but we never saw the crafts again. Several people we knew who lived at Folly Beach told us that they had seen the same thing several times over the years. But neither I or my friend ever saw them again.
What they were and where had they came from has always puzzled me. I don't believe they were any type of experimental US aircraft. I think they were UFO's and I don't think they were of this earth.

As early as July 1 1947 a strange object that moves at a great rate of speed is spotted on military radar in the vicinity of Roswell New Mexico. If it was a weather balloon why did the military not know it.
On July 3 the military knows the UFO is still around and that it appears to be searching the Roswell area. It moves at a great speed and people describe it as a round large disc. Many local Roswell people see it flying around the area and they know it is not a weather balloon. A radar operator is sent to White Sands to keep a eye on the radar there and see what the UFO does. Surely the US Military knew the difference between a weather balloon and a UFO that locals said flew around the Roswell area for at least four days appearing like it was searching for something.
Then on July 4th 1947 a bright flaming object is seen to fall to the ground near Roswell New Mexico. It has always been my belief that the US Military had finally after four days of trying been able to shoot down the UFO.
On July 5th the object is found by several different people and it is reported as a round disc shaped object that appears to be some type of aircraft. No one reports it as a weather balloon or any type of balloon. They report it as a round disc shaped object.We have all seen the headline of the Roswell newspaper above.
But then the military moves in and takes over. People are ordered off the site and the US Army moves in to make sure no one goes near the crash site. And here the story gets even more interesting. The local Roswell Funeral Home owner Glenn Dennis is contacted and asked many questions about how to preserve bodies and how to treat bodies that have been exposed to the sun. He is also asked for his supply of small caskets. Then a day or two later Glenn Dennis is told he better be quite about what he knows or he will be arrested. It is two US Army officers who go to see him at the Roswell Funeral Home and tell him this.
It appears that not only did the US Government recover a crashed or shot down UFO but they also recovered alien bodies that were small. I really believe that all the evidence is out there but that the US Government has covered it up all these years.
Why did America lose its fascination with flying saucers?
As the news of the day pulsed along the once seemingly unthinkable pathways of the information industry — boots on the ground in Gaza, slide show updates on Mila Kunis’s pregnancy — adherents of an earlier future gathered at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. The occasion was the annual conference of the Mutual Unidentified Flying Objects Network, which, in accordance with this year’s theme, “UFOs and the Media,” was focused not on the ephemera of the news cycle but rather on the eternalities of what several in attendance called “the biggest single story in history,” i.e., the existence of extraterrestrial life on Earth and the cover-up of that presence by the United States government, the corporate structure, and their oblivious and/or sold-out lackeys in the mainstream press.
While this year’s symposium attracted a reported 400 people, this was a far cry from the thousands who attended the MUFON conference in the late 1970s, after Close Encounters of the Third Kind introduced extraterrestrials to the mainstream moviegoer. That was at a time when a lot of people actually believed that these mysterious things from the sky represented the biggest single thing in history. Since then, despite the recent astronomical findings of the so-called “Goldilocks zone” that postulates sentient life is possible throughout the galaxy, ufology has apparently lost its grip on the public imagination, and has been demoted to a neo-cult status. For the populace at large space is no longer the place. Not that this mattered to those gathered at Cherry Hill. Used to marginalization, they were resolved to keep watching the skies.
The tone was set by keynote speaker George Knapp, an Emmy-winning reporter for KLAS-TV in Las Vegas, perhaps the best known above-ground correspondent on the ET beat, if you don’t count people like C.J. Jung, who late in life developed a deep interest in what is called “the phenomena.” A debonair raconteur, Knapp spoke of the ridicule he’d received from his MSM colleagues. “I’ll always be the UFO guy,” Knapp related with wry j’accuse, recalling how after doing a story about alleged alien medical procedures, he found himself labeled “the Grand Mullah in the Church of Cosmic Proctology.” The point wasn’t whether UFOs were “real” or a mass hallucination. The news was that people kept seeing them. Yet, according to the gatekeepers of supposed reality, Knapp said, “you, me, and everyone in this room are just a bunch of nuts.”
This was fun, especially when Knapp began talking about Area 51, “the world’s best known top secret base.” In 1989, Knapp broke the story of Robert Lazar, a then 30-year-old scientist who claimed to have worked the remote military facility in the Nevada desert. Lazar’s epic account of how the US armed forces were “reverse engineering” alien technology from crashed and captured flying saucers has become a cornerstone of the late stage UFO narrative. As soon as Lazar opened his mouth, “the meme was on the loose,” Knapp said, resulting in many books, movies, and Area 51-inspired product campaigns accompanied by theme music from the X-Files.
In the context of today’s ever-narrowing attention span, there was only one drawback to this 25-year-old story: It was 25 years old.
Not that the old was out of place in this crowd. MUFON has been around for 45 years and the average age of those who ponied up $239 for the conference was way past that. Many of the presenters, most of them long-established figures on the scene (Stanton Friedman, the 79-year-old widely acknowledged dean of the field, had to cancel owing to a mild heart attack) were equally venerable, as were most of the subjects they discussed. Much talk focused on the genre’s greatest hits: the Betty and Barney Hill abduction account (1961), the Lonnie Zamora/Socorro, New Mexico sighting (1973), the Rendlesham Forest incident in the U.K. (1980), and, of course, Roswell, circa 1947.
As noted, it wasn’t always this way. In another post-A bomb time ufology seemed a wholly appropriate response to a newer, bigger, and far more frightening world. Long before the appearance of Ezekiel’s wheel, people knew something was up there, and now that we’d fired off this nuclear bottle rocket capable of killing millions, the watchers had come in for a closer look. Suddenly palpable millennialism gave impetus to a number of so-called “ufo religions” ranging from the Honorable Elijah Muhammad’s talk of the liberating “mother plane” to ex-sci-fi writer L. Ron Hubbard’s Scientology. It also enabled a breed of typically American loner “independent researchers.” These were the free-thinking, often highly competitive (later highly paranoid) individuals who drove their vehicles into the middle of the desert, looked up into the vast firmament decided that, for better or worse, there had to be another world beyond this one. The fact that the UFO issue represented the first time a large segment of population felt the then-trusted government was withholding the truth from the public only whetted the frisson of the hunt.
It is true that very little beyond a shadow of a doubt forensic proof of alien presence has come to light over the years, but there are a number of subsidiary reasons for the seeming twilight of the UFO moment. With voracious proliferation of vampires, New World Order conspiracies, and the unprecedented rise of evangelical Christianity, the simple flying disc from far, far away has become a quaint, almost nostalgic specter. The saucer may have been the post-war generation’s signifier of the strange, but even versions of the unknown outlive their usefulness. The end of the era may have commenced with William Gibson’s Neuromancer, which located the drama of the unknown inside the claustrophobic cyberspace accessible to the common keyboardist. Instead of the far-flung wonder to the universe, much of what falls under the rubric of contemporary ufology has become deeply interiorized, resigned to the viscous psych-sexual abduction phenomena described and popularized by people like Budd Hopkins, Whitley Strieber, and John Mack. It is a narrative bothers many “hard science” ufologists. “I’m trying to evaluate these sightings,” said Tom Deuley, a no nonsense retired Naval officer, former NSA employee and a leading MUFON investigator for 37 years. “When you bring in crop circles, time-traveling and abductions, these things are hard to quantify.”
It made you wonder where, short of a landing on the White House lawn, ufology could possibly go from here. Case in point was the presentation of Steven Bassett, this year’s winner of the “Excellence in Ufology” award (MUFON executive director Jan Harzan called it “the biggie’). The first registered Washington lobbyist advocating the position that humanity is not alone in the universe, Bassett organized last year’s “Citizen’s Hearing” which enlisted several ex-congress people including former Alaska Governor Mike Gravel to hear testimony on what is now being called “exopolitics” so as to avoid being saddled by the ufology brand. People like astronaut Edgar Mitchell, who walked on the moon, made the case for extraterrestrial visitation. The hope is that the mock hearings would lead to the real thing, which, Bassett was certain would “blow the lid off the Truth Embargo on the alien question that has existed since Roswell.”
After his presentation, I spoke with Bassett, an ardent former business consultant in his middle 60s who described the Disclosure quest as “my life, now.” Victory was inevitable, he thought, saying, “the Catholic Church’s attempt to suppress the Copernican revolution was a doomed enterprise. Now we’re talking about something far more profound than that … when the government tries to contain the reality of the galaxy, that is a task that is Herculean and ultimately can not succeed.” Once the alien presence was acknowledged, humanity would take a meaningful step into “maturity,” Bassett contended.
There was a manic, almost desperate optimism to Bassett’s Disclosure dream that had to be respected. Yet, many conference attendees had their doubts about the program. Bassett had just finished telling me that the Roswell crash probably resulted from the mid-air collision of two alien craft in a thunder storm. This happened, he said, because these were relatively primitive ships. Bassett said he “liked” this explanation. Other people did too. But what happened when the no-doubt heavily redacted “truth” came out and said something different? Wasn’t much of ufology about speculation, peering into the abyss? Besides, several said, what made Bassett so certain the government could end “the Truth Embargo” even if they wanted to? Perhaps the aliens, more powerful and smarter than our lowly bunch, did not want to be Disclosed. Maybe they liked things just the way they are, skulking around the shadowy mythland of the subconscious they’ve inhabited all these eons. Offering a smile, Bassett said. “Well, I guess you’ll just have to ask them about that.”
None of this, however, was a reason to close the books on flying saucers. This would be impossible, since if you happened to have laid eyes on something you sincerely believed to be a UFO, it tends to stick. I will never be free of that cold winter’s night in 1989 when, along with my wife, I saw a saucer-shaped object fly down the East River and soar beneath the Brooklyn Bridge. The way the craft seemed to coquettishly blink its lights as if to say, “even here, I appear, and then disappear” told me, that against all rationality, this particular interface with the ineffable was meant for me.
These are the things you talk about with people like H. Dyke N. Spear at UFO conferences. As George Knapp said, the subject matter does “tend to attract those whose elevator does not got all the way to top,” but you’ll never see Dyke Spear in a tinfoil hat. Past 80, he remained a man of the world, still practicing divorce law in West Hartford, Connecticut. Once he represented the famous featherweight boxing champion Willie Pep. “It was like Willie’s fifth divorce,” Spear related. “He said, relax, this is an easy case. Just give her five rooms of furniture and a fur coat. That’s what they always get.” Asked whether he took any abuse from friends and family about attending UFO conferences, Dyke laughed. “What are they going to tell me, I don’t know what I know?”
Fernando Garces-Soto, a wry, 60-ish Colombian-born music producer from Miami and fellow witness, was taking it more personally. “I’m spending a $1,000 to come to this. That’s a lot of money for the same old stories. This rehash, and more rehash. Probably next year I’ll spend another $1,000. What choice do I have?” Fernando exclaimed, finding the existential humor of the situation. “I’m obsessed,” he sighed. “I’m all messed up.”
I was at the drive in theater with my buddy watching a double feature. The sun had just gone down and the sky was that dim gray color from the city lights. The moon was bright that night so very little stars were visible adding to the weird glow of the sky. We were watching the movie Speed Racer and I was becoming rather disinterested. I noticed how clear the sky was except for one small cloud floating North on the left of the screen, towards the screen from my perspective(we were facing east), so I decided to watch it until it would pass behind the screen. I noticed it was moving pretty quick and I thought that there must be some pretty strong winds up there, but I have seen other clouds moving that speed. As it moved closer towards the screen it slowed and then stopped all together! I then slapped my buddy on the shoulder and pointed towards the cloud saying look! The cloud then proceeded in the opposite direction gaining speed and altitude.
What happened next is difficult to describe. It’s like the cloud condensed into a spot and 3 rings of green lights with a kind of oval shape (I’m guessing because of the angle) appeared on that spot. They kinda randomly went in different directions. They then went up and seemed to gather in formation, then dive down what I assume was in a SE direction with incredible speed below the tree line and I lost site of them. This part happened very quickly. My buddy saw the lights too but he didn’t see the cloud. I don’t think his eyes had enough time to adjust as he had been looking at the screen. I have no idea if anyone else there had witnessed this. Please after years of scouring the internet I have never found a similar incident. It kinda threw me for a loop as I never believed in UFOs and thought people were just making things up. It has been driving me crazy. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. I have never publicly told this story for fear or ridicule. I have tried telling my friends but they always dismiss me. Even my buddy that was there does not want to dig into it but I simply cannot let it rest and be lost. NOTE: the above image is a rendering.

After countless hours of recording, Streetcap1 captured again a UFO phenomenon in the sky above Hessdalen on August 9, 2014.
The Hessdalen phenomenon is an unexplained light usually seen in the Hessdalen valley in Norway.
Unusual lights have been reported here since the 1940s or earlier. Especially high activity of Hessdalen lights took place from December 1981 until the summer of 1984 when lights were observed 15–20 times per week. Since then, the activity has decreased and now the lights are observed some 10–20 times per year.
But now scientists think the unusual lights could be formed by a natural ‘battery’ buried deep underground, created by metallic minerals reacting with a sulphurous river running through it.
The researchers noticed a small fluctuation in the areas’ magnetic field before the formation of the lights, but when they measured radioactivity and seismic activity – both of which could cause such a phenomenon
Jader Monari of the Institute of Radio Astronomy in Medicina, Italy, has studied the Hessdalen site since 1996 and found that rocks in the valley are rich in zinc and iron on one side of the river running through it, and rich in copper on the other side. ‘If there is sulphur in the water in the middle, it makes a perfect battery’ he said.
Dr Monari believes that bubbles of ionised gas are created when sulphurous fumes from the River Hesja react with the humid air of the valley. The geology also forms electromagnetic field lines in the valley, which could explain why the orbs of light move around.
In spite of ongoing research there is no convincing explanation of the origin of these lights (Orbs/Spheres) and it not explain other strange sightings (image above) linked to the UFO phenomenon.

Naar schatting zijn er ruim 2000 aanwezigen. “Ik heb al van kleins af aan contact,” zei spreker Bruce Benefiel. Hij werd op 5-jarige leeftijd als weeskind geadopteerd. Vanaf dat moment begon hij zich af te vragen waar hij vandaan kwam en wie zijn biologische vader en moeder waren.
Op 8-jarige leeftijd had Benefiel naar eigen zeggen een buitenlichamelijke ervaring. Hij werd wakker in de hoek van zijn kamer en zag hoe zijn lichaam uit bed stapte, uit het raam klom en door het weiland liep. Het voelde vervolgens alsof hij in de lucht zweefde.
“De eerste keer zag ik een enorme oranjekleurige sigaarvormige wolk,” zei hij. “Het object was een kilometer lang. Ik zag mezelf en de inzittenden. We verdwenen in een wolk, en de volgende ochtend werd ik weer wakker.” Dit gebeurde volgens Benefiel tenminste eens per maand. Hoewel hij niet precies wist wat er in de wolk gebeurde, werd hij altijd blij wakker.
In 1981 liep Benefiel door een boekenwinkel in Muncie in de staat Indiana, toen er plotseling een boek van de plank viel met de titel ‘Aliens Among Us’. Hij legde uit dat UFO’s vóór de zondvloed de aarde bezochten, voordat Noach zijn Ark vulde. Hij zei dat ze ons nu van een afstand in de gaten houden en op een dag mogelijk terugkeren.
Von Däniken wordt gezien als de geestelijk vader van een beweging die de overheid onder druk zet om documenten over UFO’s en buitenaardse activiteit vrij te geven. Hij zei dat hij indertijd werd verguisd vanwege zijn denkbeelden, maar dat we nu in een andere tijd leven.

Farmer may hold UFO clue to 36-year Valentich plane mystery
Almost 36 years to the month that Victorian pilot Fred Valentich vanished without a trace, an independent researcher says there is evidence suggesting the 20-year-old’s Cessna was spotted in the sky over South Australia — attached to a UFO.
The Victorian UFO Action group wants help to identify a farmer near Adelaide who reportedly witnessed the 30m craft hovering over his property the morning after Mr Valentich went missing.
It is claimed the Cessna was stuck to the side of the craft, leaking oil. The farmer even scratched the plane’s registration number on to his tractor but never came forward with the information because he was ridiculed by the few friends he told.
The theory has sparked furious debate as the nation’s leading UFO investigators prepare for a national conference in Melbourne next month.
Lead investigator George Simpson, one of the last people to see the plane in the sky, says the farmer, if still alive, might have information to solve the mystery.
He conceded there was no proof, but said it was the best new lead for a case that had intrigued Australians for decades. “It’s easy for some to dismiss, but there are corroborating stories confirming that there was a UFO near Adelaide at the time,” Mr Simpson said.
Mr Valentich had been on a routine cargo flight to King Island in October 1978 when he disappeared.
In his last conversation with air traffic control, he reported an object hovering in front of him and said it was “not an aircraft’’. It was the last thing Mr Valentich said before a strange metallic clicking sound was heard and the transmission stopped.
Extensive searches failed to find any trace of the plane or the pilot.
“This was an experienced pilot who should have been able to identify another aircraft but was clearly unable to,” Mr Simpson said.
Adding to the mystery, an amateur photo taken in the area that evening shows a dark unidentifiable shape in the sky.
Investigators are also trying to find a copy of Valentich’s final transmission that was originally aired on Melbourne radio station 3XY.
The Valentich case will be among a string of Aussie X-files to be discussed when the Victorian UFO Action group hosts its “Age of Reason” conference on September 6. – Herald Sun
‘Ghost Adventures’ Star Gets Fired, Reveals Disappointing Truth About Paranormal Television Series
Aaron Goodwin has been fired from the Travel Channel television series Ghost Adventures, according to Travel Channel executive and spokesman Richard Roscolelli. Goodwin was fired from the series following a rant while being interviewed on a popular podcast. During the interview on the Are We Alone show hosted by Joshua Sweeney, Goodwin went on about an eight minute rant about how the Travel Channel took everything that was authentic and truly paranormal about the show and made a mockery of it by making the crew record its own voices in place of actual EVP’s (Electronic Voice Phenomena) when filming did not reveal enough evidence to satisfy producers.
During the two-hour podcast, Goodwin dished out the disappointing facts. It did not stop with the Travel Channel making them record their own EVP’s but he says they actually made them go back and film reactions of the crew so that they would act surprised when hearing things that did not actually occur.
“If we film all night long and came back with uneventful material, they actually make us go back, and act out scenes. It’s sickening really,” said an angry Goodwin. “This started off as a real thing, it is just not consistent and active enough for the big-shots at the network, so they basically have turned us into liars. We have been committing a fraud in my eyes and I’ve just about had enough.”
Co-stars of Goodwin, Zak Bagans and Nick Groff, have been unavailable for comment. Roscolelli says he expects the show to go on without Goodwin despite his efforts to ‘expose the truth.’
“We are not sure why he said what he said but it is all false. We suspect there may be a feud involving one, or both, of his co-stars, and what better way to get at them than attack the show?” Roscolelli said.
Ghost Adventures, which premiered October 17, 2008, just recently concluded its ninth season on July 12th. No plans or announcements have been made on when, or even if, there will be a tenth season. Some believe the show may have been cancelled, hence the statements made by Goodwin.
“Sounds to me like the show isn’t being renewed and its time to tell all for the crew,” said super-fan Hannah Belew. “It’s too bad. The show was fun. I think everyone watching knew it was faked anyway. Even people like me who really believe in ghosts and spirits know you can’t just walk into an old building, turn on some stupid night-vision cameras, and start seeing things. It was just good entertainment.”

‘Terrified” Hull woman Pauline Hickson says she was forced to moved seven times by ghosts that stole her bras – and even used the shower. Faye Preston reports.
When her underwear started going missing, little did she know it would signal the start of two years of hell.
Because what could have been dismissed as a slight annoyance, was actually the work of forces beyond this world and one of many paranormal pranks that would ruin Pauline Hickson’s life.
The 58-year-old says she was forced to move home seven times in two years because she has been followed around by two ghosts, who would steal her bras, take her jewellery and even use the shower.
“I thought I was going crazy,” said Pauline, of Essex Street, west Hull.
“I didn’t know why it was happening to me, it was like living through hell and I had no one to turn to.”

Fresh effort to secure a pardon for Scotswoman convicted of witchcraft
Campaigners are launching new efforts to have the last woman in Britain imprisoned under the Witchcraft Act pardoned.
Helen Duncan, from Callander, near Stirling, was convicted at London’s Old Bailey under the Witchcraft Act in 1944 after she revealed Second World War military secrets during a seance.
The medium was arrested in Portsmouth after holding a seance in 1941 in which she claimed to be contacted by a dead sailor from HMS Barham. The battleship had sunk after being torpedoed off the coast of Egypt just days before – but news of its sinking was not officially revealed to the public by the military until 1942.
Miss Duncan was sentenced to nine months in prison after being found guilty under section 4 of the Witchcraft Act 1735, but campaigners say she was wrongly convicted.
Former lawyer Graham Hewitt, who says he is acting on behalf of Miss Duncan’s grandchildren, said he would be calling for a new review of the case. Mr Hewitt, assistant general secretary of the Spiritualists’ National Union, said he had identified 96 mistakes made in the original trial.
Previous efforts to clear Miss Duncan’s name have been unsuccessful, with the Scottish Government rejecting a petition to pardon her in 2008. Attempts to open a judicial review into the case also failed due to a lack of new evidence.
A spokesman for the Criminal Cases Review Commission said: “If Mr Hewitt wishes to send a fresh application to the commission then he is more than welcome to do so.” – Herald Scotland

I found in Jerry Clark's 1998 "The UFO Encyclopedia - The Phenomenon from the Beginning" (p. 851) that the late John Baldwin had been Wilbert Brockhouse Smith's boss at DOT [Department of Transport]. Is that the guy whose name Stan couldn't remember anymore?
Re UFOs, if some of them are indeed flying saucers from out there, very advanced science would probably be involved. Has anyone ever heard of cyclic mass inversion? What does that involve actually? As you know, I am not a top level scientist.

John did his undergraduate studies at McMaster University (Graduates Hall of Fame) then his MA from the University of Toronto in 1934; Rhodes Scholar, Christ Church, Oxford (B Litt - 1937). He taught in McMaster's History Department (1937-1938), then became the National Secretary of the Canadian Institute of International Affairs in Toronto (1938-1941). From 1949 to 1968, John was the Chairman of the Air Transport Board and then Deputy Minister of Transport. He was the President of Air Canada from 1968-1974. John's awards included the Brancker Medal from the British Royal Aeronautical Society and the C.D. Howe Award for Leadership in Civil Aviation. In 1978, a young pilot named Frederick Valentich takes off from Melbourne, Australia for a routine pleasure flight. Half an hour later he reports a mysterious set of lights around his aircraft, then he disappears. No trace of the plane was ever found. At the same time, a tourist on the Melbourne coast captures a strange object while photographing the sunset. Are the two incidents linked?
I wrote and directed this story on location in Melbourne for the National Geographic series "Invasion Earth" (broadcast as "UFO Conspiracies" in the USA, on the Science Channel). The Cameraman was Miklos Janek, the Editor was Antonio Morra and the Assistant Producer was Macalister Bexon.
Raging wildfires halted operations at the SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Institute’s Allen Telescope Array in Hat Creek, California. SETI uses this array of radio telescopes to listen for incoming radio transmissions that could be communication from extraterrestrial civilizations.
Employees were forced to evacuate the area, and the data network and electricity were reportedly interrupted at the site. SETI senior astronomer Seth Shostak explained to CNN, “We can’t listen when all that is down.” CNN reported that “The blaze came within a mile of the facility . . . on both the east and west.”

Shostak posted regular updates to the SETI Institute’s website during the ordeal. On Thursday, August 7, he reported, “The Eiler fire is now reported as being 40 percent (perimeter) contained. It is no longer threatening the Array.”
SETI scientists were eventually permitted to return to the site. And on Friday, August 8, Shostak posted the following message on Twitter, announcing that the institute’s alien search is back online.

I , together with 50-100 people had witnessed a major UFO sighting in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1997, and it still mystifies me to this date. What is most surprising is that I am unable to find any reference to it on the internet and so am writing to you in the hope that you would be able to investigate. The year was 1997 and I was doing my post-graduate studies in an internationally acclaimed institution in Lausanne that year. I am from Asia and have since gone back to live in Asia, it was only that year that I was spending in Lausanne. It was in the later half of the year probably in Aug or Sep. It was a Saturday night, and had gone out in one part of Lausanne with some friends. I then left that part of Lausanne and was walking to another part of Lausanne where I was meeting some other friends. Suddenly, I saw hundreds of people who had stepped out of their restaurants and looking in the sky. This was near the Lake Geneva shore and the area was an upmarket one with classy restaurants. The people witnessing this were all urban, well educated and well-off people. I looked up in the sky and saw somewhere between 15 – 20 lights hovering in the sky. They were fairly low in the sky and hence could be seen clearly, no room for doubt on maybe eyes playing game on us etc. The closest one could think of the lights was a formation of military aircrafts, but they couldn’t be aircrafts because they were just stationary and making no sound. As I mentioned, it was so unique that people eating in many restaurants there had all come out of their restaurants half way through their meal to witness this.
After a few minutes, the lights moved up into the sky very quickly and disappeared in the same formation, perfectly synchronized. I myself am a well educated person in senior management, and not one prone to believing in unexplained phenomena. This was a very clear incident of unidentified flying object with no room for doubt. Unfortunately, none of my friends were there. I expected this to be reported in the newspapers next day. But the newspapers were all in French and I don’t know French at all. I asked some of my friends who knew French whether anything was mentioned in the newspapers, and they said no. Those days of course, the internet was just in its infancy. For years now, every now and then, I search the internet to see if this has been highlighted anywhere, especially in specialist ufo sites like yours, but surprise not to find anything. I am hoping you have associates in Lausanne, Switzerland who are able to talk to the locals there and find out.
This took place in an area called Ouchy, that is just by the lakeside. There are a clutch of restaurants on Avenue Willaim Fraise very close to the Movenpick Hotel.
