This is the incredible moment an object flew across New Zealand and lit up the sky, as experts claim it's a meteorite.
Residents scattered across the country's North Island reported sightings of bright lights zooming through the sky at 9pm.
Many were unsure whether the falling object was a piece of space junk re-entering the earth's atmosphere, or a possible meteorite.
Many were unsure whether the falling object was a piece of space junk re-entering the earth's atmosphere, or a possible meteorite
President of the Auckland Astronomical Society Bill Thomas told the NZ Herald he found it more likely the object was a meteorite.
'There's a visible sort of tail, whereas a satellite [is] like a point of light moving across the sky ... bright [meteorites] like that one as not that common in the one place, but they're common worldwide.'
New Zealand Police posted an alert saying they're aware of the meteor: 'Rest assured, we have confirmed with our Paranormal Division, and it is nothing to be concerned about.'
People around the country managed to catch a glimpse of the mysterious object, with many managing to capture it on camera.
Graham Billings was enjoying dinner at an Italian restaurant when he saw the light fly across the sky.
'It was definitely a meteor. I wondered what it was for a bit but we can still see the smoke trail,' Mr Billings said.
In Whangamata, Jen Maloney and her friends saw the object light up the sky twice, once at 8.55pm and another one 15 minutes later.

Ms Maloney described the light show as green, beautiful and dramatic, leaving a 'singe' smell afterwords.
One couple were in Auckland discussing the dangers of the use of drones when they looked up to the sky and thought they spotted one.
What May and Brian Seager actually saw was the meteorite whizzing through the sky above them.
'It was a bright light and then it went green and left like a vapour trail. It was going way too fast [to be a drone] and it looked like it broke up into two pieces afterwards.'
More than 400 kilometres south, Steve Bloor saw a dazzling display in Napier.
Mr Bloor said when he saw the object - that he first believed to be a jet plane - it exploded into millions of pieces, like fireworks.

Mystery event that saw mountain crash into river 'may have been UFO attack'
A MYSTERIOUS “blitzkrieg” which led to the side of a mountain crashing into a Siberian river was either a UFO attack or a giant meteorite strike, according to a majority of Russians.
The claims about the incident – known as the Bureya Bliztkrieg – come amid a new report which said a “reliable” witness saw a “huge green-coloured body with a very long tail” streaking vertically downwards in the night sky on December 15.
Hunters who first reached the scene - alerted by a sudden and inexplicable change in the flow of the river - reported ‘hot rocks’ on which they could warm their hands
The bizarre event, which took place last month, is under Russian scientific scrutiny after the water flow into a hydro-electric power reservoir was cut due to a massive landfall, creating a 525ft mound which was visible from space rising from the bed of Bureya River in the far east of Russia.
Describing the event one witness said: “It was if as if the mountain had moved.”
BIZARRE: Some people think the incident was a UFO attack (Pic: The Siberian Times)
STRANGE: Satellite image of the Bureya river site - Other people thought it was a meteorite (Pic: The Siberian Times)
Now a poll of the strange event in the Khabarovsk region revealed that a many people thought it was an attack from space.
A total of 27% or people polled said it was a meteorite and 33% thought it was a UFO attack.
The remaining 40% claimed the Bureya Blitzkrieg was caused by a giant landslide.
People who first reached the site of the incident reported hot rocks which they could warm their hands on and a smell “like hydrogen sulphide” and thought the rock fall was caused by a meteorite similar to one which devastated Russia’s Chelyabinsk region 2013.
“I insist it was a meteorite,” said the district government chief of the remote part of the Khabarovsk region where the accident took place, Alex Maslov.
LANDSLIDE: One witness said he saw a 'huge green-coloured body with a very long tail' (Pic: The Siberian Times)
New footage and pictures of the bizarre phenomenon show trees being uprooted or yanked apart with trunks thrown as far as 100ft and large blocks of ice thrown from the river onto the land.
Reports also say an “invisible force” made it seem as if the chunks of ice had flown onto the land.
Alexey Dyundin, 46, a local businessman, was driving through the neighbouring Yakutia region when he witnessed the event which he took to be a meteor strike.
He said: “We saw a huge green-coloured body with a spectacularly bright and very long tail, falling almost vertically at about an 80 degrees angle.
“We saw it right in front of us, falling east to south. It all happened within three or four seconds.”
MYSTERIOUS: One witness said 'it was if the mountain had moved' (Pic: The Siberian Times)
The businessman said he thought the fall was too fast to be a rocket from a space launch coming back to earth- something he had previously seen.
He added: “It was definitely not a rocket stage. They fall much more slowly and they do have a glow when they fall.
“But nothing like the bright green glow we saw. The green glow comes when meteorites contain a lot of iron.
“Our first reaction was, well, hard to publish.
‘“We were so stunned we just exclaimed 'What the **** was that?’ at each other.”
Dyundin said he only realised how significant the sighting was a week later when he saw reports of the Bureya River rockfall.
But data from the European satellite Sentinel suggests the changing face of the river happened between December 9 and December 12- The Siberian Times revealed.
The report said this does not discount the meteorite attack as responsible for the incidents but means that a “space object” as witnessed by Dyundin.
Tourists are now starting to visit the scene of the carnage according to local reports.

Super Wolf Blood Moon Harbinger Prophecy January 21 2019
Super Wolf Blood Moon Harbinger Prophecy January 21 2019
Many people stick to predictions, but do we believe predictions or is it just the uncertainty what the future will bring that people are starting to believe in predictions?
There are many self-proclaimed prophets but there are a few who have indeed made correct predictions, like Edgar Cayes and the blind woman Baba Vanga.
Known as the 'Nostradamus of the Balkans,' Baba Vanga passed away in 1996 at age 85, but more than two decades later her recorded prophecies continue to stir the imagination.
Said to have accurately foreseen such events as 9/11 and the 2004 tsunami in Indonesia, a news report informs that her predictions for 2019 include:
A new devastating tsunami in Asia A giant meteorite hitting Russia An economic collapse for the European Union An assassination attempt on Vladimir Putin A baffling illness for Donald Trump occurring in the forthcoming year.
The year begins with January's full moon which is set to be very special indeed as four lunar spectacles combine to give the night sky a red hue.
Could it be that the first full blood moon which starts on Jan. 20-21 is a harbinger for the things to come this year?
The following video provides more information about the wolf blood moon including the expectations for 2019.

Scientists Just Gained Access To Mysterious Lake Buried Under 3,500 Feet Of Ice In Antarctica
Mysteriouslake buried under 3,500 feet of ice discovered by scientists.
On December 26th scientists finally managed to reach a mysterious Subglacial Lake which was buried under 3,500 feet of ice in Antarctica. In a blog post, the Subglacial Antarctic LakesScientificAccess (SALSA) announced that it took almost two whole days of drilling to reach Mercer Subglacial Lake during this holiday season.
Antarctic Landscape, Portal Point, Antarctic Peninsula, Antarctica
Twice the size of Manhattan
The team of researchers with the organization was comprised of 45 scientists, drillers, and various other staff members. They were able to drill a borehole big enough to send down an instrument the next day to capture a glimpse of the huge subglacial body of water which was described as “twice the size of Manhattan”. The group is planning to study the lake further over the coming days such as depth, temperatures, and cleanliness. They are also going to lower a remotely operated vehicle down through the borehole to get more footage and take more extensive measurements about the mysterious lake.
John Priscu, chief scientist for SALSA, told environmental news site Earther Monday that they were unsure of what to expect as it is such a new discovery and they were still learning as they went along. The SALSA team flew to Mercer Subglacial Lake on Dec. 19 and began drilling days later, on Dec. 23.

The drilling process is more complicated than just making a hole. There are many steps to take when drilling into a new environment for the first time. Part of that process involves sampling the drill water and testing it for cleanliness. In the words of SALSA PI Brent Christner, it was as clean as filtered water can get. This came after the water had been tested twice already by running it through filters that are able to catch 99.9% of germs and bacteria. At least eight days have been scheduled by the organization dedicated to sampling and testing the lake's water and sediments.
What's next?
Matt Siegfried, a glaciologist and SALSA member, has expressed his excitement by stating that they are currently sampling the deepest standing water body humans have ever accessed beneath Antarctica. It will, however, take many years to study all the samples they collect and process the data before any new concrete information can be released about life in this particular ecosystem.
Mercer Subglacial Lake was first discovered via satellite more than a decade ago, and there are reportedly around 400 lakes just like this one hiding beneath Antarctica's ice sheets which in my opinion, is very exciting indeed. I will personally be keeping an eye on the news from now on, excited to see what will come from this Subglacial Lake, and potentially many others around it!
It’s big – an estimated five times the footprint of New York City. Its location is super-secret – even the people working on it don’t know for sure where it’s at. Its purpose is even more secret – it could be an earthquake detector; it could be a way to communicate with submarines with them needing to surface; it could be something else. It’s scary – even China’s own media is worried about the safety of the people living near it. And now it’s allegedly up and running. It’s the Wireless Electromagnetic Method (WEM) Project and the Chinese media has made the risky move of notifying the world about it and its potential dangers.
“Though I am involved in the project, I have no idea where it is. It should be up and running by now.”
When a scientist working on a 13-year project doesn’t know where it’s located, it can’t be a good sign. Yet that‘s what Chen Xiaobin, a researcher with the Institute of Geology, China Earthquake Administration, told the South China Morning Postabout the WEM Project as it investigated reports that it’s finally up and running. Here’s what it knows so far. The WEM’s main above-ground part, possibly located in the central China Huazhong region, is a pair of high voltage power supply lines which form a cross that is 60km (37 miles) wide and about 100km (62 miles) long. At the ends, the copper wires go deep underground to power stations generating extremely low frequency (ELF) radio waves whose official stated use is to provide early earthquake warnings and support the country’s resource extraction industry in detecting fossil fuels and precious metals and minerals.
The ELF waves can travel up to 3,500km (2,200 miles) through the Earth’s crust, but that’s not what worries military watchdog sites like The Drive. It reports that the ELF wave generators are difficult for spy satellites to detect and the possible location is in a heavily populated area. It also points out that ELF waves can travel through water, which makes them perfect for communicating with submerged nuclear subs and doesn’t require the transmitters to be close to the coast.
Believe it or not, according to the South China Morning Post, what worries the Chinese the most is that ELF waves are suspected to cause cancer. The World Health Organization-affiliated International Agency for Research on Cancer warns that ELF waves are “possibly carcinogenic to humans” and has been linked to an increased risk of childhood leukemia as well as a cause of delusions, sleep deprivation, stress, depression, breast and brain tumors, miscarriages and suicide. ELF fields can also affect human nerve fibers, stimulate synaptic transmissions in neural networks and cause retina cells to generate sporadic flashes of light in eyes. Other than that, they’re perfectly harmless. China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment submitted a request for a comprehensive review on the WEM Project’s environmental impact. An anonymous source (for obvious reasons) said:
“The money came from civilian budgets, but the military has intervened and muted the ministry’s complaint.”
So, a secret wave generator that’s five times the size of New York City yet impossible to find is probably being used to expand China’s nuclear submarine capabilities despite the fact that its cancer-causing ELF waves are endangering upwards of 230 million of its own people. The Chinese government is learning American-style “everybody else is doing it” public relations. Xi Jilou, a researcher with the Institute of Earthquake Forecasting, said this:
“China is not the first country doing this. Other countries conducted similar projects long ago.”
And Huang Zhiwei, a professor with the department of electrical engineering at Nanhua University in Hengyang, says:
“The matter must be handled with extreme caution, or it can easily lead to public panic.”
Kudos to the South China Morning Post for breaking this story. Will it help stop Project WEM … or is it too late?
A massive landfall in eastern Russia was caused by a meteorite, a falling UFO or a massive bomb, it was claimed today.
First pictures from a remote location in Khabarovsk region show how the 390 mile long Bureya River was partially dammed by a monumental rock fall.
The top was severed from a large hill with rocks crashing down and forming a new 525 ft-high mound in the river bed.
Hunter Anton Ivanov found the dramatically changed landscape in the remote spot on 14 December - but the footage has only been revealed now
There are reports of patches of 'hot rocks' and sightings of 'extraterrestrial meteorite fragments'.
Alexey Maslov, the head of Verkhnebureinsky district, said after witnessing the newly formed hill: 'We are trying to find the explanation for this incident. I insist that it was a meteorite.'
He was backed by Dr Evgeny Zubko, a cosmic dust expert from the School of Natural Sciences at the Far Eastern Federal University, who said local residents had noted 'a blast wave'.
First pictures from a remote location in Khabarovsk region show how the 390 mile long Bureya River was partially dammed by a monumental rock fall
'Whether it will be possible to find the fragments of a meteorite depends on the parameters of the fall - and good luck.'
However Maslov also claimed it could be 'an explosion, a bomb, or a falling plane.'
Yet there were no reports of military missiles that went astray here, let alone plane crashes, or Russian bomb tests.
'The riverbed is blocked by a bulk' up to 2,624 ft wide, said Maslov.
The height looms from 262 to 525 ft above the river level.
'There is no radiation,' he said.
But he believed 'an object entered at a sharp angle, pulled down the mound - and spread it along the river bed.'

Those who have seen the carnage insisted 'it cannot be man-made', he said.
One eyewitness said: 'They either started some major building site or a UFO collapsed here.'
First images from the scene of the rockfall show a man standing and waving on the newly-formed dam showing the scale of the debris.

It is believed the carnage was caused in early December, reported The Siberian Times.
Dr Evgeny Zubko, a cosmic dust expert from the School of Natural Sciences at the Far Eastern Federal University, said local residents had noted 'a blast wave'
Alexey Maslov, left, the head of Verkhnebureinsky district, said he insists it was a meteorite. Boris Shustov, right, head of the Institute of Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said no sizeable meteorite had been registered penetrating the earth's atmosphere
'You don't come across this every day,' he said.
'Such scale, such force.
'There is lots of earth, thousands of tons.
'It can be seen that something flew here, touched the top of the hill and landed in the water.…
There are reports of patches of 'hot rocks' and sightings of 'extraterrestrial meteorite fragments'. There are warnings of flooding for villages upstream because of the partial blockage of the river
'It smells like hydrogen sulphide and vapour comes out in some places.
'We even found a spot on the very top where there are warm stones, we used them to keep our hands warm.
'It looks like it was very hot there.
'The ice edges are slim as if they were in boiling water.'
Other theories include a landslide caused by an earthquake.
Aleksei Makhinov, regional chairman of the Russian Geographic Society, said: 'The cause of the landslide could have been an earthquake,' he said.
'A meteorite could have been the reason too but it is unlikely.'
Boris Shustov, head of the Institute of Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said no sizeable meteorite capable of wreaking such havoc had been registered penetrating the earth's atmosphere.
The Bureyskaya hydro power station reservoir downstream is receiving less water.

Mind control SHOCK: How Soviet Union achieved ‘great success’ with PARANORMAL warfare
Mind control SHOCK: How Soviet Union achieved ‘great success’ with PARANORMAL warfare
THE Soviet Union took UFOs seriously with the KGB and the Soviet Defence Ministry dedicating units collecting and analysing information about paranormal activity, a bombshell documentary has revealed.
Military experts even claimed to know how to "summon" UFOs and make contact with them during the height of the Cold War and amid an arms race with the US. For many years, reports of UFO sightings were treated in the Soviet Union as non-science, or fiction not worthy of attention from serious scientist In Amazon Prime’s “The Secret KGB Files”, the documentary reveals that under Nikita Khrushchev, former Premier of the Soviet Union had great success had been achieved in the Soviet Union with the paranormal. Some of the first bio generators and machines to alter human minds came to the scene.
The narrator explains that the Americans were “worried about Soviet research programs because they knew that the Soviet Union would not use it for peaceful means”.
And that “the Soviet Union was there to conquer and to overtake the United States”. Another area of deep interest was UFOs.
It is claimed that the Kremlin hoped investigating reports of alien spacecraft could advance aeronautical design.
The former Soviet Union was an ideal location for the study of unidentified flying objects as Russia had more UFO sightings than any other nation.

One reason for the multitude of UFO cases is that Russian borders surrounded the largest land mass in the world.
Of the reported UFO sightings, the most compelling case is known as the Dalnegorsk Incident in January of 1986.
“It’s the best documented crash because we do not have the fragments they have been analysed”, said a research scientist.
Beginning in 1917 and continuing until 2003, the Soviets poured up to $1billion into developing mind-controlling weaponry to compete with similar programs undertaken in the United States.
The battle between the U.S. and the Soviet Union during the Cold War, for technological and scientific one-upmanship, included a costly effort that involved the two superpowers' attempts to develop mind-control weapons.
A blog post at the Physics arXiv Blog, citing a new paper by researcher Serge Kernbach, said that both the U.S. and the Soviet Union experimented with parapsychology, mind control and remote influence.
And, while some of the work conducted by the US on these topics is now public, much less is known about the Soviet body of knowledge, which reportedly cost about a billion dollars to gather.
The blogpost said: “The Soviets had a similar program. This included experiments in parapsychology, which the Soviets called psychotronics.
“The work built on a long-standing idea in Soviet science that the human brain could receive and transmit a certain kind of high frequency electromagnetic radiation and that this could influence other objects too.”
While the scientist who reportedly created the first gene-edited babiessits locked up under house arrestin an undisclosed location, other Chinese researchers are hard at work making clones of pets for fun and profit. Did you get a cute kitten for Christmas? Would you like a few (or a few hundred) more in case it runs away? Got $55,000? A company in Beijing announced its first batch of kitten clones will be ready in March 2019 and it’s looking for new customers. Are they getting their funding from a kitty litter manufacturer?
“This project is unlikely to be of great scientific interest, but we see great potential in it for the PCR cloning market.”
The Global Times interviewed Zhao Jianping, deputy general manager of the biotech company Sinogene which is doing the cat cloning after successfully (and profitably) cloning pet dogs. “PCR cloning” refers to the Polymerase Chain Reaction technique, which is a rapid method for cloning genes in large quantities. This is needed because the eggs of dogs are the most difficult to replicate due to their sensitivity to environmental changes.
“We have about 20 clients, in order to create an animal for them, we need from six months to 10 months.”
Those clients will be getting their kittens in March after plunking down their 380,000 yuan ($55,117) for each one and providing Sinogene with their dearly departed cats. While it’s not specified whether the first clients requested it or what the additional fee might be, Sinogene also offers gene editing to correct birth defects. That poor misguided and now incarcerated scientist who edited human genes for the same purpose must be kicking himself … if he’s still alive and still has kneecaps.
We know what you’re thinking (especially you non-pet lovers) … do we really need to clone kittens? The article agrees, pointing out that China has more than 73 million pet owners and 91 million cats and dogs. On the other hand, many Chinese couples, like their American counterparts, would prefer to have a cat to a child. In addition, pet cloning, while new, has a huge profit potential in China – from January-August 2018, the market for cats and dogs exceeded 170 billion yuan ($24 billion), a 27% increase in the annual rate.
What could possibly go wrong? The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals reports that each year, approximately 1.4 million cats are euthanized in the U.S. alone. That doesn’t count those killed in traffic or by other animals or by means other than euthanization. Those numbers are likely to be the same in China, adjusted proportionately for its larger population. That $55,000 could save a lot of really cute kittens in need of a loving home, especially since Zhao Jianping points out that cloning isn’t perfect because, while looking like the original, it lacks its memory and emotions.
While one gene scientist remains under house arrest, others are free to get rich by unleashing expensive cats on a world already overflowing with millions whose humans abandoned them.
A weird weather phenomenon was recorded over Barru, South Sulawesi in Indonesia on Dec 28, 2018. There are multiple videos on YouTube. Just search for "Sky Barru Indonesia". I've never seen something like this before. If not for the light, it looks like a water spout.
Human rights? Always worth fighting for. Animal rights? We’re far too cruel to the creatures we share this planet with, but some limits are needed. Robot rights? The debate has just begun and it will be a long and confusing one, as evidenced by a new discussion led by a machine ethics researcher who believes that reverse cyborgs – robots that are given human parts such as brains – deserve at least partial human rights as well. How many human parts does it take for a robot to become a person? Which parts? What about the vice versa? Will the brave new world be a litigious one as well?
These questions are prompted by, as many discussions about future technology often are, sex. Specifically, the sex robots or sexbots that in 2018 became the center of attention in Vancouver, Canada and Houston, Texas, where an organization called KinkySdolls wanted to open (and was already taking appointments for) sex robot brothels like the one it operates in Toronto. These “dolls” – both female and male — allegedly provide a realistic sexual experience and are said to contain the artificial intelligence needed to respond to cues and recognize both their client’s needs and what would be considered abusive behavior of the dolls were human. How could these sexbots be made even more realistic? Why not add real human parts – possibly grown in a lab or even right on the cyborg itself?
In an interesting discussion in, of all places, the Daily Star, Dr. Oliver Bendel, professor of information systems at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts and a consultant to the German Bundestag, says sex robots able to read “every wish from our eyes” will be among the most advanced androids within the next 20 years, but should only be considered as “electronic persons” with “moral rights” if they have can feel or suffer, if you have a consciousness or a will to live.” And then he describes the way that will happen.
“One could at best develop ‘reverse cyborgs’, i.e. let brain and nerve cells grow on technical structures or in a robot. Such reverse or inverted cyborgs might at some point feel something.”
And then? Computing philosopher and scientist at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Dr. Jordi Vallverdú, joins the discussion.
“Under the current cultural western evolution, which has recognized rights to all kinds of men and women, it is feasible and normal to affirm that the robot’s rights will be someday into the agenda.”
“Feasible and normal.” Do you consider giving human rights to a robot feasible and normal? If you don’t, it may be too late to stop it. In early 2017, the European Parliament issued a reportwhich suggested that self-learning robots could be granted “electronic personalities” status, which would in a sense make them “legal persons” in a manner similar to corporations. Many see this move not so much as a way to give protective human rights to robots but to relieve manufacturers from legal responsibility should the AI robot commit crimes or kill someone. However, “legal persons” have the right to make campaign contributions and could conceivably “buy” politicians who would give them the rights they want. Buying politicians – how much more human can they be?
What am I?
Human are getting more robotic parts. At what point will these cyborgs lose their humanity? Robots can grow human cells that develop into human parts. At what point will these reverse cyborgs lose their robotity? Is the crossover line the same? Who should decide? Scientists? Politicians? Religious leaders? Philosophers? The cyborgs themselves?
Is everything now feasible and normal? Is anything? Are we?
Sometimes, science may turn stranger than fiction, and the year 2018 witnessed a handful of such incidents which may make people think whether these happenings are real or not.
International Business Times, India presents you five such science stories which are weirdest to the core, and pretty difficult for the conscience of a normal man to digest.
1. The bizarre story of the human head transplant
People have seen stories of human head transplant in Hollywood sci-fi flicks. However, Ren Xiaoping, a Chinese orthopedic surgeon is spending his complete productive time to materialize the world's first human head transplant. Xiaoping is allegedly working on these experiments with Italian scientist Sergio Canavero.
Even though the duo claimed to have conducted the first human head transplant in 2017, they failed to provide any evidence to substantiate their deed. In 2018, Canavero and Xiaoping conducted head transplanting experiments on rats. Interestingly, out of the 60 head transplanted rats, only 14 lived for at least 36 hours.
Even though with this high failure rate, Canavero and Xiaoping strongly believe that human head transplant will become a success in future, and this technology will be used widely by rich business tycoons to live forever.
2. The unending mysteries of Oumuaua
It was in 2017 that space experts initially discovered Oumuamua, the first ever interstellar visitor to reach our solar system. Initially, space scientists speculated that Oumuamua could be either a meteor or an asteroid. However, in 2018, a study report from Avi Loeb, a top Harvard researcher raised many questions about the origin of Oumuamua.
In the study report, Loeb suggested that Oumuamua could be an alien probe. As per Loeb, the space body gained an unexpected acceleration as it passed through the inner solar system, and he believes that no natural object could achieve this gain in momentum.
However, Don Lincoln, a senior scientist at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory argued that the sudden change in acceleration could be the result of a natural process called outgassing.
3. Green UFO above the surface of Jupiter
On October 25, 2018, conspiracy theorists spotted a bizarre anomaly in one of the Jupiter images released by NASA. In the first glance, the image looked normal, but upon closer analysis, a green UFO can be seen hovering just above the surface of the planet.
The image released by NASA soon went viral, and many people started arguing that this photo is an authentic proof of alien existence. They also alleged that space agencies like NASA are well aware of extraterrestrial aliens living in the dark nooks of the universe.
However, after analyzing the image, some experts suggested that that the green UFO-like object spotted in the image could be the result of an imaging sensor anomaly.
4. Necrophilia among crows
Necrophilia can be described as the fascination of a person towards dead bodies. In some cases, people with this psychological disorder may often try to engage in sexual acts with deceased bodies. However, in 2018, a woman named Kalie Swift photographed the image of a living crow engaging in sexual acts with a dead one.
It is still unclear how the crow got sexually fascinated with the recently deceased. Some experts believe that it might be a confused response mingling aggression with sex.
5. The unusual story of Mad Mike
The concept of flat earth has gained popularity in recent days, and many eminent personalities including former English cricket captain Andrew Flintoff believes that the earth is a flat disc. However, to prove this, a man named Mike, popularly known as Mad Mike, propelled himself to 1875 feet using a rocket made with scrap materials.
After the self-tuned launch, Mike had a hard landing in the Mojave desert causing him minor injuries. Now, Mike is apparently planning to build a space vehicle called Rockon, which will help him to reach an altitude of 68 miles. He believes that the real shape of the earth will be unveiled in front of him at such a high altitude.
If we can compare a rock to a virus - which appears to come alive when infecting a cell, and appears to be dead when doing nothing - then we must begin to suspect that there is something life-like in non-biological things like clouds and hills.
According to two papers published in Cell on January 11, 2018, the making of memories and the processes of learning resemble, of all things, a viral infection Viruses are tiny infectious agents that invade cells, bringing foreign genetic material with them.
One question raised - Are viruses really the border between life and non-life?

A transformer explosion in Queens sent an eerie blue light flooding the night sky over New York City on Thursday evening as the power in the houses flickered and LaGuardia Airport was plunged into darkness.
Con Edison says a brief electrical fire with transformers broke out at the substation on 20th Avenue and 32nd Street in Astoria, leading to a drop in transmission in the area.
The explosion lit the sky so brightly that it seemed for a short time that it was daytime in neighborhoods like Astoria and Woodside, the residents reported. Smoke originated from the source of blue light, visible all the way to Manhattan.

yo wtf is happening #Astoria Queens rn explosion?? who you fooling
The skies over New York City turned bright blue Thursday night after a transformer explosion in Queens.
"The lights you have seen throughout the city appear to have been from a transformer explosion at a Con Ed facility in Queens," NYPD posted on Twitter. https://abcn.ws/2ERthJq
This year’s report shows that the Arctic region experienced the 2nd-warmest air temperatures ever recorded, the 2nd-lowest overall sea-ice coverage, and lowest recorded winter ice in the Bering Sea.
NOAA released its2018 Arctic Report Cardon December 11. This year’s report shows – once again – how the climate of Earth’s north polar region is changing. Measurements include warmer air and ocean temperatures and declines in sea-ice that are driving shifts in animal habitats.
The annual Arctic Report Card – now in its 13th year – is a peer-reviewed report that provides an update on the region and compares these observations to the long-term record. The 2018 report was compiled from the research of 81 scientists working for governments and academia in 12 nations.
This year’s report shows that the Arctic region experienced the second-warmest air temperatures ever recorded; the second-lowest overall sea-ice coverage; lowest recorded winter ice in the Bering Sea; and earlier plankton blooms due to early melting of sea ice in the Bering Sea.
NASA’s Operation Icebridge captured this image of the town of Narsaq in Greenland in April 2018.
– Surface air temperatures in the Arctic continued to warm at twice the rate relative to the rest of the globe. Arctic air temperatures for the past five years (2014-18) have exceeded all previous records since 1900.
– Atmospheric warming continued to drive broad, long-term trends in declining terrestrial snow cover on land, melting of the Greenland Ice Sheet and lake ice, increasing summertime Arctic river discharge, and the expansion and greening of Arctic tundra vegetation.
– Despite increase of vegetation available for grazing, herd populations of caribou and wild reindeer across the Arctic tundra have declined by nearly 50 percent over the last two decades.
– In 2018, Arctic sea ice remained younger and thinner, and covered less area than in the past. The 12 lowest extents in the satellite record have occurred in the last 12 years.
– Warming Arctic Ocean conditions are also coinciding with an expansion of harmful toxic algal blooms in the Arctic Ocean, threatening food sources.
– Microplastic contamination is on the rise in the Arctic, posing a threat to seabirds and marine life that can ingest debris.
Declining Arctic sea ice: The 2018 Arctic Report Card found the Arctic region had the second-lowest overall sea-ice coverage on record. The map shows the age of sea ice in the Arctic ice pack in March 1985 (left) and March 2018 (right). Ice that is less than a year old is darkest blue. Ice that has survived at least 4 full years is white.
The Report Card is intended for a wide audience, including scientists, teachers, students, decision-makers and the general public interested in the Arctic environment and science. You can read the 2018 Arctic Report Card here.
In addition to annual updates on ocean temperature, snow cover, tundra greenness and melting on the Greenland Ice Sheet, the report card also includes reports on multi-year environmental changes, including a long-term population decline of the region’s iconic wildlife species, the caribou. Other multi-year essays focused on the expansion northward of toxic harmful algae and significant concentrations of microplastic pollution that are transported by ocean currents into the Arctic Ocean from other parts of the global ocean.
Caribou and wild reindeer numbers drop 56 percent in 20 years: Arctic caribou and wild reindeer populations dropped sharply from 4.7 million to 2.1 million grazing animals in two decades, with the largest declines in Alaska and Canada. Scientists attribute the declines to Arctic warming, which is increasing the frequency of drought, affecting the quality of forage. Longer, warmer summers also increase flies, parasites and disease outbreaks in the herds. These caribou were spotted in Alaska’s Denali National Park and Preserve.

These tiny particles are being lifted with sound — no magic tricks required! Scientists have harnessed the physical force of sound waves before, but for the first time acoustic levitation has been successfully used on multiple objects independently.
The breakthrough was achieved by Asier Marzo Pérez of the University of Navarra in Spain and Bruce Drinkwater of the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom. Their results were published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
The researchers developed a new algorithm that uses an array of sound emitters to create an acoustic field complex strong enough to trap multiple objects, like these one millimeter plastic beads.
They imagine the system being used to create mid-air displays using physical pixels, and “acoustic tweezers” that can be used for noninvasive surgery, noting “acoustic devices are 100,000 times more efficient than optical systems.”
The current experimental setup can simultaneously handle 25 tiny particles in 3-D space. It’s precise enough that the scientists were able to attach a thread to two of the spheres and “sew” it onto a piece of cloth using nothing but sound. They hope to be able to adapt the technique to use in water over the next year.
