The global search for life beyond Earth is gaining new momentum as scientific teams and governments around the world intensify their efforts to uncover signs of extraterrestrial intelligence. From deep-space radio signals detected in China to strange metallic fragments recovered from the Pacific Ocean, the conversation about alien life is shifting from speculation to serious investigation.

China’s “Suspicious Signals” and the Fast Radio Telescope

In recent months, China announced that its Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST) — also known as the “China Sky Eye” — had detected what were described as “suspicious signals” possibly originating from an extraterrestrial civilization. The announcement, briefly published in Chinese state media before being removed, drew international attention and revived discussion about humanity’s readiness to handle proof of alien contact.

The FAST telescope, located in Guizhou Province, is the largest and most sensitive radio telescope in the world. With 19 signal-receiving beams and twice the sensitivity of its predecessors, it has become a leading tool in the hunt for what scientists call technosignatures — radio or electromagnetic traces that could indicate intelligent life beyond Earth.

However, as space journalist Leonard David explained in an interview, skepticism remains warranted. Experts from institutions such as the University of California, Berkeley, who collaborate with Chinese researchers, believe the detected signals were likely the result of radio frequency interference (RFI) — spurious noise caused by human technology rather than aliens. Despite that, David notes that it’s only a matter of time before a genuine signal is detected, urging governments and media to consider how society might respond when that day comes.

“At some point in our history, this story is going to be real,” said David. “The question isn’t whether we’re alone — it’s how crowded the universe really is.”

The Ocean Floor Connection: Material from Beyond the Solar System

While radio astronomers scan the skies, other scientists are turning their attention to the depths of the ocean. A Harvard-led expedition recently conducted a two-week deep-sea mission near Papua New Guinea, where researchers retrieved dozens of tiny metallic spheres from the seafloor. The team believes these particles originated from a meteor that entered Earth’s atmosphere in 2014 — and preliminary analysis suggests that their composition does not match any known material in our solar system.

If verified, this discovery could mark the first tangible evidence of interstellar material — and possibly even technology — reaching Earth. The research was spearheaded by Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb, known for his controversial but scientifically rigorous investigations into objects like ‘Oumuamua, the first interstellar visitor observed passing through our solar system in 2017.

The recovered spherules are being analyzed for isotopic ratios and structural properties to determine their origin. While mainstream astronomers urge caution, Loeb’s findings continue to fuel debate about whether interstellar objects could be remnants of non-human technology.

A New Era in the Search for Life

With the James Webb Space Telescope now operational and capable of detecting chemical fingerprints in the atmospheres of distant exoplanets, humanity is entering a new era of discovery. Combined with Earth-based facilities like FAST and international cooperation in SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence), scientists are developing the tools to answer one of humanity’s oldest questions.

Although no confirmed evidence of alien life has yet emerged, each new observation — whether from space or the deep sea — expands our understanding of the cosmos. The challenge, as Leonard David points out, will be learning how to interpret and communicate such discoveries responsibly.

Also from the movement of the object past the clouds, it is matching speed with the small jet traveling at between 600-900mph, making this object one very fast craft. Then suddenly the pilot mentions that it just holds still as they pass it by. This means it's intelligently controlled. 100% alien technology in our atmosphere.

It's a cloaked UFO, however the propulsion systems of the craft are causing a static glow around it making it visible...until it shot away. Too often people discount glowing disks in the sky as streetlights, party lights ect. The truth of the matter is...there are hundreds of UFO files in Project Blue Book that mention blue glowing haze craft. And this looks like a massive size one, must have come from the ocean and flew close to the ground for a long ways while it was cloaked, but powering up to shoot long distance caused it to be noticed. 100% proof aliens exist and are active in Florida!

I know...this guys description below is lacking...a bit lazy but he did take a great video of the event. The glowing craft is seen passing across the night sky glowing like a comet, but it's not a comet, it's not a meteor because it's moving way too slow. This is something more amazing...coming from the direction of the ocean...which is known by all UFO researchers as a UFO hotspot...caused by the location of an alien base that crosses below all of Florida from the Gulf of America to the ocean on the other side. This is from the Bermuda Triangle area and passing over Florida, the US gov may try to say its a rocket or falling satellite, but we know the US gov lies every time they open their mouths...its an alien ship!

A never-before-seen video released Tuesday by a member of Congress appears to show a U.S. military Hellfire missile bouncing off a bright, shiny object that was being tracked off the coast of Yemen on Oct. 30, 2024.

The video was released at a House Government Oversight subcommittee hearing into Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP), which is the military's term for UFOs.

During the hearing Rep. Eric Burlison (R-Mo.) played a video that he said "I've been given" and that he claimed was taken by an MQ-9 Reaper drone.

The overhead video showed a fast-moving object moving in a straight line above the waves in the waters off the coast of Yemen and captured what Burlison said was a Hellfire missile fired by another Reaper drone that appeared to strike the object.

"I'm not going to explain it to you, you'll see exactly what it does," said Burlison as the video clip was played.

The video showed what appeared to be an impact, but the object seemed to continue on its same trajectory.

"This is when it's zoomed out, you can still see it traveling," said Burlison who did not provide details of how he had obtained the video.

At the time that the video was purportedly taken, the waters off Yemen were an active combat zone as U.S. Navy ships and aircraft protected commercial shipping lanes from missiles and drones fired at shipping vessels by the Houthi militants in Yemen.

U.S. Navy ships were regularly shooting down Houthi missiles and drones that posed a threat to them or commercial vessels.

The video raises several questions: Did it capture a potential attack on ships? Did the object pose a threat to U.S. Naval ships operating in the combat zone?

"The public should be seeing this stuff, and why you're not allowed to, I don't know," said George Knapp, an investigative journalist, who was a witness at Tuesday's hearing alongside others identified as whistleblowers of military UFO incidents.

"That's the Hellfire missile smacking into that UFO and just (bouncing) right off," he said, commenting on the video. "And it kept going."

"It kept going," Burlison agreed, "and it looks like the debris was taken with it."

 "Yeah. What the hell is that?" Knapp added.

Burlison said he was not going to speculate on what the object was in the video, but asked "Why are we being blocked from this information consistently?"

A U.S. defense official told ABC News "we do not have anything to provide on this" when asked to authenticate the video and the time and location it was allegedly taken.

Asked to comment on the video, a DOD spokesperson said: "I have nothing for you."

The Pentagon's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) continues to investigate UAP reports filed by military personnel, some of them going back decades.

While it has been able to explain some high-profile reports, there are still many cases that have been unexplained and has not found that any of the incidents are of an extraterrestrial origin

The new video is similar to a 2015 video that came to be known as the "Go Fast" video that showed a fast moving object appearing to fly at a high rate of speed above the waves in the waters off of California.

AARO analysts later determined that the video had captured an optical illusion involving a weather balloon and that the high rate of speed captured by the sensors aboard a Navy F/A-18 fighter jet was due to parallax and the angle from at which the camera viewed the object.

AARO officials have said previously that some of the older incidents remain unexplained because there was not enough data gathered by high-tech military sensors at the time. Newer incidents provide more data, because of the increased sophistication of sensors, that analysts can use to review them.

At the end of the hearing, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) replayed the video and asked the panelists if they were scared by what they saw in the video. All said yes with the exception of Knapp, who replied that he was happy that the video had been released.

The stories of flying saucers, little green men, and contact with beings from across the cosmos have fascinated the public for centuries as people have wondered what's beyond our skies.

But over the last few decades, as science and mass media have expanded, the obsession with unidentified flying objects and possible extraterrestrial life has exploded.

From the fun, such as sightseeing tours of supposed UFO activity hotspots like Roswell, New Mexico, to the serious, with last year's tense congressional hearings on the subject, a lot of money, resources and time has been spent answering the question: "Are we alone?"

"There are people who will see things that are explainable, but they can't explain it. So to them, it's unidentified. Fine. Well, let's investigate it," famed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson told "Impact x Nightline."

An episode of "Impact x Nightline" now streaming on Hulu takes a look at the cultural phenomenon behind UFOs and features interviews with scientists, UFO enthusiasts and people who claimed to have been abducted by aliens.

Margaret Weitekamp, the department chair of the National Air and Space Museum, told "Impact" that the phenomenon behind UFOs began in the 1940s and 1950s with the public obsession over flying saucers.

Arguably the most famous incident took place in the summer of 1947 when a rancher found wreckage, including metallic-looking scraps, on his property. This was around the same time that the U.S. Air Force began "Project Blue Book," an initiative to investigate UFO reports.

"What we know is probably that it was a weather balloon incident, but a lot of lore has risen up around that and around especially secure areas in the American West, where people then ask a lot of questions about what's really happening there," Weitekamp said.

The reports of the weather balloon did little to quell people's suspicions, experts said.

Reports of unidentified lights in the sky, aircraft and other unexplained events, particularly in the Southwest, exploded since the 1950s and turned the area into a pop culture phenomenon.

Just outside of Las Vegas lies what many UFO enthusiasts call "The Extraterrestrial Highway," which features UFO-themed attractions and stores.

But some who claimed they had gotten up close and personal with a being from outer space told "Impact" that their lives were forever changed from that fateful encounter.

Kat Patterson told "Impact" that she was abducted by aliens 24 years ago when she and her sister-in-law were driving in a rural area. Patterson said the experience, where she allegedly was put on a metal bed and was given a "pelvic exam" by a group of aliens, traumatized her.

"If you believe me, great. If you don’t, that’s fine, too. You don’t have to," she said. "I know what happened."

Avi Loeb, a theoretical physicist at Harvard University's department of astronomy, told "Impact" that aliens exist "because to think otherwise is arrogant." However, he said that there is no concrete evidence, yet, to prove extraterrestrial activity on Earth.

"Nowadays, there are 10,000 satellites, many of which are communications satellites, and a lot of people mistake them for anomalous objects and there are many drones," Loeb said.

Still, that hasn't stopped scientists and the government from pouring billions of dollars over the years into probing the skies.

Two years ago, the Department of Defense created the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office, or AARO, to investigate unidentified aerial phenomena.

The agency's former director, Sean Kirkpatrick, told ABC News that there is no evidence of reports of an intact spacecraft kept by the U.S. government.

However, last July, David Grusch, a member of a previous Pentagon office tasked with investigating unidentified aerial phenomena, or UAPs, gave bombshell testimony to a congressional hearing.

Grusch spoke of the unconfirmed existence of a secret UFO recovery program sanctioned by the government and claimed that the UAPs were may be capable of probing our activities.

Kirkpatrick dismissed Grusch's testimony in a statement published on his personal LinkedIn page released shortly after the hearing.

The Pentagon last year also said it had investigated over 650 UAP incidents and found there was no evidence that any of them were of extraterrestrial origin.

Weitekamp noted that Grusch's testimony had very little new scientific information.

"So when Congress is holding hearings investigating the questions of unidentified aerial phenomenon, those are really questions about national security, questions about overflight, not so much about something overflying in space," she said.

Outside of the government, civilians have banded to try and answer the questions about the unknown themselves.

"So when Congress is holding hearings investigating the questions of unidentified aerial phenomenon, those are really questions about national security, questions about overflight, not so much about something overflying in space," she said.

"They're learning advanced interviewing techniques. They're learning astronomy, among other subjects that are just going to help them in their work," Stacey Wright, the head of the Arizona MUFON chapter, told "Impact."

Wright said MUFON can positively classify about 95% of the reports they investigate, "whether it's a naturally occurring thing in the environment, whether it's a conventional aircraft that people are seeing, [or] something floating in the sky as simple as mylar balloons."

And while some of those inquiries about UFOs may not lead to major scientific revelations of extraterrestrial life, scientists said it is important to continue the research and follow the facts.

"If the day arises where they capture one of these things and they find there are aliens in it, that's cool. I'll rejoice. Finally, we found some aliens. But until that day happens, all we can do is collect data," Neil deGrasse Tyson said.

Pope Leo's bombshell alien claims as he makes 'life on other planets' statement

The Vatican has, since the dawn of Vatican time, stayed away from ever officially commenting on aliens and what officials known about them . . . until now, it seems

The Pope has broken his silence on aliens – something UFO lovers will be up in arms over. The Vatican and extra terrestrials have had a strained relationship for decades, with the previous incumbent, Pope Francis and his officials holding a press conference last year to talk about “supernatural phenomena”.

But nothing came of it, and rumours still persists that there are secret alien files in the Vatican's much-mysterious vault.

David Grusch, a US Air Force veteran has often made claims about the US Government's involvement in covering up the truth about aliens and UFOs and last year he brought the Vatican into the fold by claiming that it knows about aliens and was involved in a cover-up as far back as 1933.

However, nobody has ever really commented in any official capacity – until now.

Pope Leo XIV, who has only been in his role for a few months, has bucked the trend of silence and gone on record to claim that it's possible life does exists in other parts of the universe.

Speaking during a reception held for participants of a summer course at the Vatican Observatory in June – but only just surfacing now – he said: “Thanks to this remarkable instrument, we are able for the first time to peer deep into the atmosphere of planets in other solar systems, where life could develop.

“The new technology also makes it possible to trace the ancient light of distant galaxies, which tells us about the origins of our universe".

He then called on the participants of the course to use new telescopes and technology at the observatory to "deepen our knowledge of the cosmos, of which we are only a small but significant part”.

Despite this, it has often been claimed that if the Vatican were to open its vault doors and be honest about what it knows, it could do irreparable damage to itself.

But for now, the truth remains out there . . . somewhere.

De evolutie van UFO-studies: van randwetenschap tot voorhoedewetenschap

Inleiding

Sinds mensenheugenis hebben we de hemel boven ons bestudeerd met verwondering en een tikkeltje angst. Is er werkelijk leven buiten onze planeet, zoals we onszelf kennen? De afgelopen vier decennia heb ik het onderwerp UFO’s gevolgd, vaker naar de sterrengekeken dan ik kan tellen, en mezelf afgevraagd of een van die fonkelende objecten misschien een huis biedt aan wezens zoals wij. Soms vroeg ik me af of er planeten in het melkwegstelsel zijn die een spiegel vormen van onze eigen wereld. En ja, ik heb meerdere malen dingen aan de hemel gezien die ik niet kon verklaren. Dat betekent niet per se dat ik wezens uit andere werelden heb waargenomen die met hoge snelheid voorbijschieten; maar het betekent ook zeker niet dat ik dat niet heb gedaan. Wie over dit onderwerp bedachtzaam spreekt, zegt dat de waarheid daarbuiten ligt. En ik geloof sterk dat dit inderdaad zo is. Ik ben ervan overtuigd dat sommige voorwerpen die wij in onze lucht zien — en mogelijk zelfs door de ruimte reizen — niet van deze planeet zijn en geen product van de aard der dingen. Het is egoïstisch en grootheidswaanzin te denken dat ALLEEN op onze Aarde intelligent leven is  en niet op de biljoenen sterren en planeten om ons heen...

Verandering van perceptie - Van bagatellisering, belachelijk maken naar wetenschap

Decennialang werden onopgehelderde vliegende voorwerpen, beter bekend als UFO’s, nu UAP's genoemd, vrijwel uitsluitend afgedaan als speelse curiosa uit de wereld van sciencefiction en mythen. De publieke verbeelding werd al gauw overschaduwd door scepsis: wat bovennatuurlijke verklaringen leek de overhand te hebben, werd in wetenschappelijke kringen al snel als ongefundeerd, oncontroleerbaar en soms zelfs als belachelijk beschouwd. Journalisten, politici en wetenschappers wisten zich vaak geen beter woord te vinden dan ridicule om het onderwerp te benaderen, waardoor serieuze debatten over de realiteit en oorzaken van deze verschijnselen ontaardden in grapjes of ontkenning. De consequentie hiervan was dat veel waarnemingen niet gedocumenteerd of serieus onderzocht werden, en dat het wetenschappelijke gesprek over mogelijk niet-normale luchtverschijnselen werd verengd tot marginaal terrein.

De afgelopen jaren is dit patroon echter ingrijpend verschoven. Steeds meer onderzoekers erkennen dat er minder sprake is van louter fantasie of misinterpretatie dan aanvankelijk werd gedacht, en dat systematische waarnemingen, data-analyse en verantwoorde rapportage wel degelijk leiden tot bruikbare inzichten. Universiteiten, onderzoeksinstituten en onafhankelijke wetenschappers pleiten vaker voor een open maar kritische benadering van wat aanvankelijk als “ongebruikelijke” gebeurtenissen werd gecatalogiseerd. Ze benadrukken dat het opdoen van betrouwbare kennis mogelijk is wanneer er transparante methodes, reproduceerbare bevindingen en stringent getypeerde waarnemingen aan ten grondslag liggen.

Ook overheidsinstanties hebben hun houding aangepast en investeren in gestructureerde programma’s om de verschijnselen te bestuderen zonder de wetenschappelijke integriteit in gevaar te brengen. Een bekend en symbolisch voorbeeld is de betrokkenheid van NASA, die, hoewel vaak geassocieerd met traditionele ruimtevaart en technologische topprestaties, nu duidelijk heeft gemaakt dat het onderwerp van onverklaarde luchtverschijnselen aandacht verdient. De vorming van een gespecialiseerde UFO-studiegroep door NASA onderstreept een intentie om werkwijzen te verbeteren, dataficeren te harmoniseren en interdisciplinaire samenwerking te stimuleren. Daarmee ontstaat een nieuw plausibel kader waarin waarnemingen worden geëvalueerd op basis van evidence, meegewogen in de context van ruimtevaart, atmospherische wetenschap en data-analyse.

Samengevat markeert deze verschuiving een markant keerpunt: van een sfeer van bagatellisering en belachelijk maken naar een wetenschappelijke, transparante en serieuze aanpak van onbegrepen verschijnselen. Het traject is nog lang niet afgerond, maar de toon is onmiskenbaar verschoven richting nieuwsgierigheid, methodische inzet en een herontdekte legitimiteit van onderzoek naar wat ons al lang fascineert: het onbekende aan de grenzen van onze perceptie.

NASA’s UFO-studiegroep

Een spelverdeler of een keerpunt? De opstelling van zo’n groep onder de paraplu van een van ’s werelds meest gerespecteerde ruimte- en wetenschapsinstellingen verleent een ongekende geloofwaardigheid aan het onderzoek naar UFO’s. In plaats van losse geruchten of sensationele rapporten fungeert deze werkgroep als een serieuze, methodische instantie die systematisch kalibratie, validatie en replicatie van bevindingen nastreeft. Door een multidisciplinair team samen te brengen—astronomen, datawetenschappers, ingenieurs, veiligheidsdeskundigen en psychologen—wordt geprobeerd een zo volledig mogelijk beeld te schetsen van wat er gezien kan zijn en hoe het in een breder wetenschappelijk kader past.

Mystery over strange crash near Area 51 deepens as FBI opens investigation

The US Air Force has sparked a mystery near the top-secret base Area 51 after admitting the FBI was investigating a recent crash near the facility. 

In a statement on October 4, officials at Creech Air Force Base in Nevada said that an aircraft 'was involved in an incident,' crashing in the desert just miles from the restricted zone around Area 51 on September 23.

The infamous base has been tied to extraterrestrial lore for decades, with UFO researchers and conspiracy theorists claiming that secret government projects have been conducted at Area 51 since the 1950s.

While the Air Force said that the craft was assigned to the base as part of the 432nd Wing, some on social media pointed out that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a temporary flight restriction around the area for an entire week.

The reason for the shutdown was simply noted as 'national security' with no other explanation given by the FAA.

The location of the flight restriction placed the crash roughly 12 miles east of the security boundary around Area 51, and about 24 miles from the base itself.

However, the Air Force has revealed that even more strange activity took place after military personnel cleaned up the site, leaving nothing for the public to find.

Officials at Creech said investigators found an 'inert training bomb body' and a piece of an unidentified aircraft at the same crash site on October 3, prompting the military to get the FBI involved.

Joerg Arnu, a long-time Area 51 researcher and host of the website Dreamland Resort, visited the site of the crash on September 27, finding nothing but a completely cleared area and several tire tracks, likely from military vehicles that combed the desert for wreckage.

'They really tore up the ground so it's impossible to find the impact mark,' Arnu said in a video taken from the alleged crash.

The researchers noted that there was no debris left in the area, but something could still be there underground, adding that desert rains often wash hidden objects back up to the surface.

The Air Force noted that 'no further details are available at this time,' but did say that there were no injuries or fatalities during the unexplained incident.

Creech Air Force Base is less than 60 miles from the alleged crash site and is home to the 432nd Wing, which operates MQ-9 Reaper armed drones, RQ-170 Sentinel stealth drones, and other craft used for intelligence, surveillance, and combat missions.

Hey I recorded this in my backyard today and there was this amazing disk UFO about 500 meters across over the Salt Lake City Airport, Utah today. The disk also had a mini disk above it. The planes all flew around it. None chose to fly through it. Appearing as a cloud is the number one easiest way for aliens to fly low to the ground so they can actually look out the ship and see humans and life with their own eyes rather than staring at a computer screen experiencing it.

Bob Lazar Reveals What He Saw Inside the UFO at S-4

In one of the most discussed interviews on The Joe Rogan Experience, physicist and whistleblower Bob Lazar detailed his extraordinary claim of having seen the interior of an alien spacecraft during his time working at a secret U.S. facility known as S-4, near Area 51. Lazar’s account remains one of the most detailed and controversial depictions of non-human technology ever shared publicly.

An Unworldly Interior

Lazar recalled being allowed inside the craft on only one occasion, primarily to examine how its internal components were arranged. According to him, the layout was crucial, since the craft’s systems operated without any visible wiring or connections.

The moment he stepped inside, he said the environment felt profoundly alien. Everything was one uniform color — a dark, pewter-like tone — with no sharp angles or seams. It appeared, he said, as if “someone had molded the interior from wax and then heated it just enough to let everything melt slightly together.” Every surface flowed into another, giving the sense that the structure was fused or grown, rather than built.

Designed for Smaller Beings

Inside the craft, Lazar found it too small for an average human. At 5’10”, he could not stand upright except at the very center. The seats were tiny, clearly made for beings about half his height — roughly three feet tall.

There were no familiar features such as control panels, lights, or decorations. The space was minimal and utilitarian — only a few seats, a central reactor, and several rectangular components positioned symmetrically around it. “There was nothing you could recognize as human technology,” Lazar said.

Advanced Materials and ‘Smart’ Surfaces

While exploring, Lazar noticed archways that became transparent at times. He observed another team working on one of these archways as it shifted from opaque metal to see-through material. The phenomenon reminded him of “smart glass”, a real-world technology that changes opacity, but far beyond anything publicly known.

He described the craft’s material as cold to the touch, suggesting it was metallic or perhaps a form of advanced ceramic. The smooth, continuous design reinforced his belief that the entire object was a single integrated system, not assembled from parts.

Three Levels of Technology

Lazar stated the craft contained three internal levels:

1. Main Deck: Contained the reactor and three seats arranged evenly around it.
2. Lower Level: Housed “gravity amplifiers” and “emitters” — cylindrical devices resembling trash cans attached to pipes. These, he said, were responsible for the craft’s propulsion.
3. Upper Level: Believed to include navigation or control systems, with dark, sensor-like panels on the outer surface used for orientation in space.

He physically entered the main deck and leaned into the lower level to observe the positioning of the gravity amplifiers firsthand.

According to Lazar, the craft he entered was one of nine extraterrestrial vehicles stored and studied at S-4. Each had a different design, suggesting they came from different origins or time periods. One, he said, looked like a “Jell-O mold” with rippled sides, while another resembled a flat disc “like a straw hat.” At least one of them showed visible damage, possibly from being shot down or recovered after a crash.

The Enduring Mystery

Bob Lazar’s story has inspired decades of debate, skepticism, and fascination. Critics question his scientific background and lack of physical evidence, while supporters argue that his detailed technical descriptions of gravity manipulation and element 115 propulsion predate modern discussions of exotic energy physics.

Whether seen as revelation or fabrication, Lazar’s account remains one of the most vivid and technically specific portrayals of an alleged alien craft interior — a description that continues to shape popular culture’s image of reverse-engineered extraterrestrial technology.

New Study Reveals The Biggest Hot Spots For UFO Sightings In The United States And Canada

As every good UFOlogist knows, aliens have two places where they prefer to construct their bases: deep underwater and inside of active volcanoes. We also know that there are certain sites around the world that seem to draw UFOs like bees to honey.

With that in mind, as part of World Space Week, a new study was conducted to determine where the biggest UFO sighting hot spots are in the United States and Canada. Using data from the National UFO Reporting Center, along with digital media coverage, Casino.ca was able to determine which states, provinces, and territories have reported the most unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP).

Hot spots for UFO sightings in the United States

Not surprisingly, two of the top four states with the most active volcanoes in the United States were also the states with the most UFO sightings. The state of Washington tops the list with one reported UFO sighting for every 1,021 residents. This is nothing new though. Since 1974, Washington has had 7,625 reported sightings.

The state of Oregon comes in second on the list with one UFO sighting for every 1,105 people. Oregon also has a long history of UFO sightings with 3,838 being reported since 1974.

The third state on the list, Florida, has slightly less UFO sightings per capita, but far more sightings overall. The Sunshine State has had 20,078 UFO sightings over the year, or around one for every 1,108 residents.

Delaware with one UFO sighting per 1,178 people and New York with one for every 1,236 residents come in fourth and fifth.

On the flip side, the state with the least amount of UFO sightings in America is Louisiana. Down in the Bayou State, there has been only one UFO sighting for every 3,583 people. Mississippi with one sighting for every 3,403 people and Alabama with one per 3,238 are the second and third least on the list of UFO sightings.

Hot spots for UFO sightings in Canada

In Canada, the province of Alberta is the UFO sighting capital with one sighting for every 568 people. Ontario is the second most likely Canadian province or territory where people have spotted a UFO, one for every 639 people. Manitoba (one per 853 people) and Quebec (one for every 527 people) round out the top five. Meanwhile, Newfoundland and Labrador is the Canadian province/territory where one is least likely to see a UFO at just one for every 7,451 people.

However, when it comes to the total number of UFO sightings, Ontario dominates the list with 22,860 reported encounters. British Columbia, which came in third on the list per capita (742) has had 7,927 reported UFO sightings. Not surprising considering the many active volcanoes in the province.

Here’s what you’ll learn in this story:

• A Congressional hearing recently looked at a mysterious orb that a U.S. military missile seemed to bounce off in midair. Speculation ran rampant that it was a UAP—traditionally known as a UFO—after the blurry video was released.
• In reality, the UAP was likely a balloon that was drifting in the wind, reportedly in the air near Yemen. Its pieces continued drifting after a Hellfire missile tore into it.
• The U.S. Army is not releasing information about the event, or about how the military decides to deploy a missile, but a missile physics expert explains what probably happened.

Few people could make sense of it: a video played at a recent Congressional hearing concerning “unidentified anomalous phenomena,” or UAP, seems to show a U.S. military missile bouncing off a mysterious orb in mid-air. The blurry and short clip, appearing as if filmed from a point above the intersecting objects, was released at a House Oversight transparency hearing on Sept. 9. It attracted national attention, but what many people thought they saw was an illusion.

So, what was it, really?

An Expert on Missile Physics Weighs In

A U.S. Army spokesperson said in an email that while the hearing and video are in the public record, the newly renamed Department of War “has not authenticated the video, or issued a substantive confirmation about the event. Press reports reflect no Pentagon verification.”

So we asked a missile physics expert for some help. Fred Lamb, PhD, a theoretical astrophysicist at the University of Illinois, chaired a ballistic missile report earlier this year for the American Physical Society. He cautioned by e-mail that any analysis requires “many, many assumptions” for experts such as himself who have “no independent knowledge of the event,” but said he would do his best proceeding on assumptions.

Lamb’s conclusion—based on the evidence below—was that the object was likely a high-altitude balloon being cut up mid-air by a special variant of a U.S. missile designed to eject blades. He emphasized that this type of missile strike is not what the public would expect to see from watching Hollywood movies or TV series of ballistic explosions. “The main reason for this is to make the movie or TV event loud, dramatic, and exciting—not because that is what the destruction of a target, such as a balloon, would look like in reality,” he said.

What We See Doesn’t Always Reflect the Facts

Press reports from the hearing suggested that the event occurred in the air near Yemen and involved a variant of the 100-pound-scale “Hellfire” missile. Generally speaking, the U.S. Army uses these AGM-114 missiles, the spokesperson said—primarily a laser-guided variant called “Romeo” for its serial number, AGM-114R.

But there are at least 10 variants of Hellfire, Lamb said. His video analysis assumes one of these variants was fired from an MQ-9 Reaper drone, based on media reports, and that the camera that took the footage was flying on a second drone far above, using a “very high magnification thermal imaging camera,” he said. This drone type has a reported operational altitude of 25,000 feet, a little lower than typical commercial airliner flight routes, he said.

Lamb named the altitude and the camera specifically to highlight all the uncertainties the public is working with: the distance from the camera to the background, what the background is (might be ocean or cloud cover), the path of the presumed missile, the distance from the camera to the target, and the direction the camera is pointing towards (relative to the ground.)

“We don’t know any of these things,” he emphasized, which means an untrained observer might make conclusions, such as assuming “that the missile and the target are both moving in the same plane,” or “that the camera is not rotating,” among other misperceptions.

So we can’t say what we are looking at for sure.

However, Lamb said one possibility is that the camera is zooming far down to the intersecting objects, creating an optical illusion known as “parallax motion.” In a restricted field of view such as a camera lens, the target may be appearing to move very quickly—and that would especially be the case when there are few background objects with which to judge the motion.

Other UAPs that have appeared to be moving very rapidly have been found to be moving not under their own volition, but only because a wind was pushing them along, Lamb said. He therefore suggested it is plausible—but not a slam dunk—that the “target” might be a balloon high in the air reflecting sunlight, which “appears to be moving rapidly mostly because of ‘parallax motion,’ but also because it is being carried along by a high-altitude wind.”

What Happens When You Fire on a Balloon?

Assuming it is a balloon, who makes the decision to fire on the object? When asked if it is a pilot, a commanding officer or somebody else, the U.S. Army said it was unable to release that information “due to operational considerations.” Lamb added that generally, “There are many possible reasons why the U.S. military might want to bring down a balloon that was floating in an area where a conflict is ongoing.”

Assuming the missile hit a balloon, the video shows what appears to be a number of pieces—flying away in parallel—after the missile strike. “The missile continues on its way, indicating that the missile was not significantly deflected by its interaction with the target,” Lamb added of what he could plausibly see. “This indicates that there was not much interaction, and/or that the mass of the target was small, consistent with the target being a balloon.”

More evidence for the target being a balloon includes “the fact that once the target is intersected, the resulting pieces of the target move apart slowly, as they would if they are drifting apart while continuing to be carried by a wind.” The camera’s optics, he noted, likely couldn’t pick up all the debris—what was visible were pieces that “all seem to have the same noncircular shapes and the same orientation.”

As for why the missile continued and did not appear to explode? Lamb said there are a couple of possibilities. Perhaps the Hellfire’s warhead did not detonate. Or more likely, it is a “type of Hellfire missile that … did not have a substantial explosive warhead—but could nevertheless cut or tear the balloon.” The most likely example would be the AGM-114R9X, he added, which pops out sharp blades with only a small amount of explosive.

Hellfire missiles have been used in multiple operations and by different branches of the military, according to the U.S. Army. They were deployed during the 1991 Gulf War operations—also known as “Desert Storm” in the U.S., and continue to be used through the ongoing “War on Terror.” Hellfire missiles have been launched from both drones and helicopters.

While the nature of the video means we cannot know if a Hellfire missile was ripping up a balloon—or draw any detailed conclusions about what was shown—it’s an opportunity for all of us to realize that sometimes, what we think we’re seeing in a visual recording may not be what’s actually in front of us.

Harvard astronomer and alien hunter Avi Loeb has floated a bold new idea about the legendary “Wow Signal.” In a recent blog post, he suggested that the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS, now passing through our solar system, might have been the source of the mysterious radio burst picked up by Ohio State’s Big Ear telescope on August 15, 1977 

The Wow Signal was recorded at Right Ascension (RA)=19h25m=291 degrees and Declination (Dec)=-27 degrees.

At nearly the same time, on August 12, 1977, 3I/ATLAS was about 600 astronomical units (AU) from Earth, some 600 times the Earth–Sun distance, or roughly a 3-day light-travel time away. Its position then was RA 19h40m (295°degrees), Dec -19 degrees. 

Here’s the intriguing part: just three days before the signal was detected, ATLAS had been moving through nearly the same patch of space. The separation was only about 4 degree in RA and 8 degree in Dec, an alignment chance of just 0.6%. 

If the signal really came from 31/ATLAS, its transmitter would have needed the power of a nuclear reactor, beaming directly on the 1420 MHz hydrogen line, the frequency often dubbed the “cosmic calling card.” 

While it may seem far-fetched that 3I/ATLAS could have sent the Wow Signal, the object’s unusual behavior so far means nothing can be completely ruled out. Perhaps it’s worth scanning 3I/ATLAS for radio emissions. 

In time, we’re likely to learn much more about whether 3I/ATLAS is simply an odd interstellar comet or something far more advanced which could catch us off guard.

A swarm of UFOs was seen flying over an active volcano in Mexico this week, reviving a wild theory that the natural landmark could be an alien portal to space. 

A webcam pointed at Popocatépetl volcano unexpectedly captured what appeared to be multiple glowing objects streaking past the site near Mexico City on Monday.

In a time-lapse video that covered 30 minutes of surveillance, viewers could see dozens of small lights speeding by in all directions like shooting stars as Popocatépetl billowed with smoke.

The famed UFO hotspot has been a constant source of extraterrestrial speculation, with witnesses photographing strange objects appearing to fly into and around the volcano for decades.

While some on social media have dismissed the strange lights as insects in the camera's way, others pointed out that the objects could be seen flying behind the volcano's smoke clouds, arguing that proves they were much farther away.

However, Alejandro Rojas, an advisor at Enigma Labs, which analyzes reports of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), was not convinced the light swarm was an actual UFO sighting, noting that the nature of the video means everything caught on camera will seem strange.

'What looks to be moving swiftly is actually moving much more slowly. So, airplanes, satellites, or anything else coming into the frame will appear to be zipping past when they are not,' Rojas told the Daily Mail.

He added that those claiming it was just a trick of the light caused by insects may be right as well, explaining that webcams emit invisible infrared light at night, which often illuminates bugs and birds that fly close enough to the camera.

'You can see the stars in the background moving quickly, whereas their movement in relation to the Earth is not discernible to the naked eye,' Rojas continued.

'That means everything is moving much faster than its actual speed. I do not see anything in this video that is particularly anomalous that could not be explained,' the UFO investigator declared.

Despite skepticism that the light show over Popocatépetl was a fleet of alien craft, the sighting adds to a literal mountain of evidence that has been caught on camera at the volcano.

In 2023, Luis Guerra was in his backyard when he heard a blast from the volcano and looked up to see a saucer-shaped object hovering over the opening of Popocatépetl.

It's one of several reported UFO sightings when Popocatépetl was active, prompting UFO conspiracy theorists to claim extraterrestrials were studying Earth's geothermal activity to understand how it works.

However, noted UFO researcher Jaime Maussan has come up with an even more astounding theory of what's happening at Popocatépetl: aliens have been using the volcano as a 'wormhole' to a distant point in space.

According to Maussan, UFOs seen flying directly into the volcano have been entering an 'interdimensional portal' which could both leave our planet and serve as a doorway to return to Earth later.

The controversial journalist from Mexico cited years of webcam footage and photos showing glowing orbs and discs entering the crater, which would be too hot for any human technology to survive.
