He said: "Hey, I'm a sceptic - I don't even like Star Wars.

"But what I saw on camera was an intelligent light force. It shot off like a bullet after an hour of hovering.

"My friend and I just couldn't explain it. We tried to make sense of it as a star or a plane - but like I said, it was too low and you could see planes flying above and stars way beyond that."

He added: "It moved slowly around same spot then shot off like a shooting star."

The photos were taken back in February this year. Michael was reluctant to share them at first, for fear of being labelled a "space geek".

But with a change of heart, he said: "The unexplainable is good news."

A FAMILY was enjoying some time in their garden at Dalrymple Heights one morning when something in the sky grabbed their attention.

On March 14 at 6.55am Derek Wince's two-year-old son pointed to the sky and said 'moon'.

When Mr Wince and his partner looked to where he was pointing they were stunned to see a cylinder-like object in the sky.

"I don't know what it was, but I do know what it wasn't - it wasn't a plane, or a drone,” he said.

According to Mr Wince, the object was about 30-50 foot (9-15m) long and rocketing across the sky about 50-100km an hour.

"I would say it was 500 to 1000 feet above us. This thing was huge,” he said.

The whole experience lasted about 10 minutes, he said.

Mr Wince raced into the house and grabbed the tablet to record the object and managed to get three pictures and a short video.

"I only wish I did it earler when the object was right above us,” he said.

Mr Wince said he believed that people witnessed UFOs, but was sceptical about aliens 'walking amongst us”.

"I do believe that other people see these cylinders,” he said.

"I'm more likely to think it is something that can be explained.”

He said the object was moving with the wind, so he thinks it was something that was caught in the wind, like a weather balloon.

"(But) I have never seen anything like it before,” he said.

There have been several sightings of strange objects in the sky over the years, including a sighting at Eungella in 2015.

The 2015 sighting of a UFO was later revealed to be a lantern that had been released by a nearly resident.

LOS ANGELES •Eight decades after Flash Gordon hinted that aliens might not have humans' best interests at heart, mankind still risks destruction in the movies to make contact with extraterrestrial life.

From Frederick Stephani's 1936 big-screen serial through the US$1.2-billion Alien franchise to last year's Independence Day: Resurgence, the heroes of more than 500 space invasion films have been lining up to die in new and inventive ways.

This year's first sci-fi blockbuster is Life, a claustrophobic game of cat-and-mouse between the crew of the International Space Station and a rapidly evolving life form that caused extinction on Mars and now threatens all life on earth.

Set in the near future, Daniel Espinosa's breakneck-speed thriller hits theatres on Friday with an international cast led by A-listers Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds.

"The script, pacing-wise, was blistering and terrifying. I mean, when I was reading it, you get to a couple of moments in the script, I was legitimately anxious, which is a very good sign," Gyllenhaal said.

The film reunites Reynolds with his Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, although this white-knuckle suspense horror is short on the snarky humour that marked the 2016 superhero movie.

"There's nothing scarier than something that's just trying to survive and knows a little more than you do," Reynolds said at the world premiere at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, last Saturday.

"I think people love that and people love a claustrophobic thriller too. Hitchcock started doing it and now it's been around forever."

Comparisons with Ridley Scott's 1979 sci-fi horror Alien - in which a deadly extraterrestrial stalks the crew of a spaceship - are inevitable, especially when Alien: Covenant, the sixth instalment in the iconic series, is fast approaching.

"I can see why people will compare it with Alien, but science fiction came from an old idea of noir cinema. I wanted my movie to play into that old American tradition," Espinosa said.

"Another big difference is the time, the era, when Alien was made. It was a post-atomic age when everyone was very much looking into the future. Young people today live in such a chaotic world that they don't think so much about what might happen in the next 10 years, let alone 100 years."

The point of Life, said Espinosa, was to make a thriller that would be entirely plausible today - a rover discovering a single-cell organism on Mars and bringing it back to the International Space Station, only for it to grow powerful and turn hostile.

In keeping with the "science reality" approach, the production team consulted British geneticist Adam Rutherford, who has published influential books on the use of genetic modification to make new life forms.

Espinosa worked with Rutherford to create an entirely original being made up of cells that can each perform any bodily function, and is structurally superior to humans.

The Life crew created a shape- shifter creature that adapts to its environment and can mimic whatever it comes into contact with, growing ever bigger, stronger and more threatening.

"We don't think that a life form would survive on the surface of Mars. The atmosphere is too thin and it would be sterilised by ultraviolet radiation," Rutherford said.

But he managed to come up with an idea for a creature that had survived for millennia by protecting itself from the Red Planet's harsh conditions. "The idea was that the alien has been in hibernation, protected from the radiation beneath the surface of the planet," he said.

Early reviews have been mixed, with the Hollywood Reporter predicting that the "underwhelming" movie may "suffocate in the anticipatory atmosphere surrounding Alien: Covenant".

Other critics have been kinder, however, pointing to its lean directing and refreshingly multicultural cast boosted by actors: Japanese Hiroyuki Sanada, Briton Ariyon Bakare and Belarusian Olga Dihovichnaya.

"Life is a thrill when it's smart, but it's even more exciting when the characters are dumb - which is ultimately a paradox the film wears proudly, to the possible extinction of the human race," concluded Variety magazine.

VIDEO: Mystery blue fireball lights up Swedish night sky

A bright, blue light which flashed across the night sky in eastern Sweden on Monday followed by a loud bang was most likely a huge bolide.

People in several towns in Sweden, including Uppsala, Stockholm and Örebro, reported seeing the strange fireball at around 9.30pm on Monday. One reader told The Local she saw it as far north as Piteå.

But an expert from the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Uppsala University has explained that it was a so-called bolide, a very bright meteor that explodes in the atmosphere.

"This is something that happens a few times a year," Eric Stempels, who also manages the Swedish Allsky Meteor Network project, a network of meteor cameras across Sweden, told The Local.

"Because it can happen during the day, when it is cloudy or far from populated areas, these events usually don't get much attention," he said, adding that this one fell in the north-eastern Uppland region.

Experts believe that this particular bolide may have been unusually large and Stempels estimated to Aftonbladet that it is possible it was between the size of "a fist and a football".

Bolides usually burn up at an altitude of 30-50 kilometres, but regional newspaper UNT reports that Monday's fireball may have made it as far as 25 kilometres from the Earth's surface.

UFO 'moving lights' seen in Derby over Chaddesden

Reader Josephine McMullan sent in these pictures of "moving lights in the sky" over Chaddesden in Derby.

Bizarre "moving lights in the sky" over Chaddesden have left one reader and her neighbours grasping at straws as to what could be behind the UFO sighting.

Josephine McMullan sent in this picture and said she had seen the lights on Monday and Tuesday night this week - but she couldn't come up with an explanation.

Readers have also been searching the Derby Telegraph website using the keyword 'UFO' but until now the reason was unclear.

One little-discussed aspect of the hacked emails from the 2016 presidential campaign was the interest that John Podesta, Hillary Clinton's campaign manager, had in extraterrestrial life. As a self-described "curious skeptic," Podesta has openly called for greater government transparency on UFO-related matters. In his forward to UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record, a 2011 book by journalist Leslie Kean, he wrote, "The American people—and people around the world—want to know, and they can handle the truth."

After hackers working at the behest of the Russian government accessed Podesta's Gmail account and shared his emails with WikiLeaks, according to the US government, WikiLeaks, in turn, released more than 50,000 of them over the course of several weeks. Among the revelations were details about campaign strategy, Podesta's tips on preparing the perfect risotto, and a cache of his correspondence with entrepreneur, author, and rock star Tom DeLonge. DeLonge is best known as a founding member of the multiplatinum pop-punk band Blink-182 (with whom he had a falling out in 2015). He's busy with his other band, Angels and Airwaves, but it was the work of his Encinitas, California-based company, To the Stars, that he discussed in his correspondence.

DeLonge describes To the Stars as an "independent multi-media entertainment company" that explores "the profound, yet unresolved mysteries involving science and the universe," an interest he shares with Podesta. In one October 2015 emailfrom DeLonge, with the subject line, "Important things," the rock star offered to set up a meeting with "important" figures within the military industrial complex. He suggested Podesta might find them "very interesting" because they were in "principal leadership" roles on "our sensitive topic."

DeLonge explores the "sensitive topic" in his new book, Sekret Machines: GODS, co-written with Peter Levenda. It's the second in a series of works that has the lofty goal of changing the way humanity views its place in the universe. The book treats extraterrestrial life and its influence on human events as a given, and explores the roots of religion and mythology through that lens. DeLonge is also shooting a feature film on the subject and plans years worth of additional books and other multimedia related to it. Mother Jones caught up with DeLonge recently to discuss his book, To the Stars projects, and other "sensitive" topics.

Mother Jones: What was it like when you saw all your contacts with John Podesta spill out as part of WikiLeaks?

Tom DeLonge: It was a terrible thing that happened. I was not planning on that, obviously, nor was anybody else on this conversation. You're dealing with national security when you deal with this subject matter. It is the single most sensitive and dangerous topic, for a variety of reasons. So when a leak like that comes out, it's not a good thing.

MJ: A lot of people who never got a response were reaching out to Podesta. Why did he seem to take you seriously?

TD: For the same reason the other groups of people within the DOD and military and intelligence committee took me seriously: Because I knew my material. I went in there with a lot of humility and respect. WikiLeaks was an illegal hack, so I can tell you that there were many, many conversations, and that's all I'll say. But I'm not going to talk about who was on those and what we talked about. After the WikiLeaks issue and how busy he was with the presidential election, I didn't really bother him anymore.

MJ: Mirage Men was a book and documentary about the history of the US government seeding various stories on extraterrestrials and other unexplained phenomena in order to cover for entirely human military projects. Do you ever worry that you're being used to deliver untrue stories?

TD: I think they're using me, absolutely, because I can help. But I don't think they're using me for any kind of misinformation, absolutely not, and I'll tell you why. It took me a year to reach three groups of people in various stovepipes of the government…that were in charge of this subject matter, not only in terms of engineering, but in terms of intelligence and military. They all said the exact same thing, the exact same story, and that's what's so important about what I'm doing with the Sekret Machines franchise. The reality is if the president and Congress aren't going to have congressional hearings and have an open statement, then the next best thing is a $100 million movie with a $100 million in marketing, with an international release, and having that happen every couple of years with nonfiction books and documentaries. Then you kind of get an awareness going, a conversation going. That's what I'm doing.

MJ: The Sekret Machines franchise comprises three novels, three nonfiction books, a TV show, and a movie, right?

TD: Yeah. It will go on for a very long time—most likely it won't be restricted to only three novels or three nonfiction books. It will be multiple nonfiction books, multiple historical fiction novels, multiple major feature films, and multiple documentaries. That's the goal. It will take us many years to do all that, but it's something or multiple things happening every year in regards to that architecture. Think of it like the way they do Star Wars or Marvel films. It's an entertain-and-educate model. So you can watch a future film and go, "Wow, I never thought of it that way. I never thought that could be real. Seriously, what's the story behind this?" Then they go buy some nonfiction or watch a documentary.

"Everyone wants to pin it down to aliens and flying saucers from other planets. And that's not the truth. That's almost like taking someone's quote out of context."

MJ: The most recent release, Sekret Machines: Gods, came out March 7. What is the takeaway from that book?

TD: The entire series is setting up a foundation of how to understand the enormity of the subject matter. Everyone wants to pin it down to aliens and flying saucers from other planets. And that's not the truth. That's almost like taking someone's quote out of context. The idea of where consciousness and quantum physics collide is where you're going to find a lot of the unidentified aerial phenomena. It has to do with human consciousness, spirituality. It has to do with religion. So Gods, the first book, is setting up a foundation for people to understand that the human race is akin to what is known as a "cargo cult," [which] started in World War II with indigenous tribes. Planes would come in and drop cargo for the troops. [The tribes] had never seen anything like that before. They never even had contact with the outside world. But they saw these planes and created a religion based on them. They worshipped it, hoping that these gods would drop off cargo to them. In the book Gods, we're trying to set up a foundation so people can understand that all the religions of the world are a form of a cargo cult. And it all relates to seeing things in the sky and supernatural contact.

MJ: Are you at all worried this will be seen as an attack on faith?

TD: I'm not worried about it but understand that it will happen. I grew up in a Christian family. My mom was a nondenominational Christian—you know, baptizing everybody, all that kind of stuff, singing songs on Sunday. I was forced to go to church for so long, and it wasn't until I traveled the world, when I was in the Middle East and reading about all the different religions in the world, that I thought, "Wow, something's kind of funky with my religion."

MJ: In one of your emails to Podesta you said that this project is about changing the cynical views of youth toward government. Can you elaborate on that?

TD: Over a long period of time, the government has had to do things routinely in regards to this subject matter, and they consistently lied because the government couldn't define an issue as sensitive as this. So young adults grew up with the internet and found out that these things were real. But the government had to keep lying about it but never came out and explained why. The problem is, now you have this huge population of people becoming adults who just think that government is full of lies all the time.

There have been decades of strategic implementation of a plan to deal with this issue and create a way to move forward. You'll see those initial drips when they start announcing planets they think have life. Then they start announcing microbial life. And then they start announcing structures, and then they start announcing other things. I think you're going to start seeing an avalanche of all that stuff, and the reason is because now we got our act together. And it took 70 years to do it.

MJ: So you're starting work on a film?

TD: We'll start filming in the fall. Everyone thinks this movie is about skateboarders and UFOs. It's not. It's a coming-of-age thriller, comedy, adventure, very Spielberg in its architecture, but attacking some of the big niche paranormal subjects. I think it's way more like The Goonies than it is anything else.

MJ: So you're pretty sure you're going to succeed expanding horizons and helping people view the world differently?

TD: My whole life has been completely about being underestimated. I remember when Blink signed to a major label, and we had a debut party for the signing. No one came to party, only the guy that signed us. And I remember sitting there, like, "Shit, no one likes this." I remember on the first label we signed on to, the owner of the label made a bet that we wouldn't sell more than 3,000 records. And that record went on and sold [millions].

You'll always see me doing things that I have no business doing. Whether it's directing a major motion picture or meeting with the most important people in government and dealing with the biggest subjects on Earth. The story of the millennia. These are things I aspire to tackle. It doesn't mean I'm going to win on all of them, but God damn, it looks like I've got a pretty good shot at it.

If some British tabloids are to be believed, UFOs have been lighting up the British skies these days, as if the night skies were an immense Christmas tree. 

As reported in The Express, “thousands of people across the globe are seeing mysterious shape-shifting UFO.”

Of course, an unidentified flying object typically turns out to be something other than an ET spacecraft once we take a closer look. In this instance, on March 12, Rob Wheatman, a resident of Gloucester,  captured an odd aerial phenomenon on video, as seen below.

“I saw it as a sparkling ‘star’ from the garden in Elmbridge, due south,” according to GloucesterLive. “What alerted me was an orange light that came from it and traveled at speed north east. I grabbed my video and luckily it has a 40x zoom and that’s when I got the images of the bizarre light you saw.”

While there doesn’t seem to be any outward appearance of fakery going on here, there tends to be an immediate attitude either on the part of individuals who offer alleged UFO videos or from media sources that have a tendency to stretch the idea of credulity with descriptions like “[t]his apparently intergalactic lightshow was filmed above Gloucester last night, and it’s got us, and the cameraman, baffled. What it shows is anyone’s guess...We’re pinning our money on aliens. Definitely aliens.”

Once again, let’s offer this reminder: The vast majority of UFO sightings are eventually explained as natural or man-made objects. 

We consulted a photo analyst who was unimpressed with the sightings. 

“In this Gloucester video, I noticed first that the object was not in focus. That’s why it looked like a diamond shape. This is a common appearance of out of focus objects with some cameras,” according to Marc D’Antonio, chief photo and video analyst for the Mutual UFO Network.

“In that video, the cameraman stated he was looking ‘due south.’ I believe that, due south at some point during the night, you will see Sirius, the brightest star in the northern sky. Because a star is ever only a point source, the slightest disturbance to the air between the camera and edge of the atmosphere in the direction being imaged will cause the image to dance around. This is called atmospheric scintillation,” D’Antonio told The Huffington Post.

In addition to his work as a video analyst, D’Antonio is CEO of FX Models, where he builds miniature versions of classified objects for his clients that include the U.S. Navy, Congress and the joint chiefs of staff. He knows a thing or two about things that are real, faked or simply misidentified.

HuffPost asked D’Antonio to look at another reported UK UFO video from January. This video begins with an object over Liverpool looking remarkably like the object in the first video above from Gloucester:

”In the second video, I noted that the object was out of focus at times. The cameraman stated that the object didn’t move, yet it absolutely did, moving over time from a position to the right and above a branch to a position just off the tip of that branch,” D’Antonio said.

“It had changed direction to reveal its nature ― it was an aircraft, landing lights on when it turned on final approach to a nearby airport. Landing lights can be seen up to 90 miles away and will persist for up to 4-5 minutes, then fade out as the aircraft makes its final turns. In my opinion, the first video showed an astronomical object ― likely Sirius ― and the second video showed a likely aircraft on landing approach.”

Incidentally, the objects in question in these two videos are quite similar to a diamond-shaped “UFO” videotaped in 2015 over another UK town, Tynemouth. In that case, it was determined that the object was, in fact, the bright star Sirius. 

If you happen to spot something in the night sky that, at first, seems out-of-this-world and tempts you to consider that you’re lucky enough to witness visitors from far away, remember that you’re more than likely seeing something that is truly astronomical in nature.

This is the bizarre video 'leaked' online that conspiracy theorists claim shows the destruction of an ancient alien satellite.

The Black Knight craft is famous among alien hunters who claim it was planted by another race thousands of years ago in order to keep a watch on humankind.

But a new video, shared by secureteam10 , alleges the alien technology's destruction has been caught on camera.

A clip on YouTube shows a huge fireball hurtling through space as parts of the UFO break off it.

One conspiracy theorist has claimed an 'anti-matter missile' was used to destroy it.

During the video, in a brief few seconds, another UFO appears nearby which they say was the aggressor - and a craft owned by the Illuminati.

Eventually, the fireball turns into one perfectly round flying object that the video's producers say is an alien escape pod.

However, alien hunter Tyler Glockner, who runs the popular secureteam10 channel, admits during the video that he is skeptical.

He said the bizarre profile that posted the clip does not appear to be reputable and questions the strange film angles within the clip.

The Black Knight is said to be 13,000 years old and discovered by Nikola Tesla back in 1932.

He was convinced the bizarre machinery was alien and placed in the orbit to monitor the earth.

Incredible 1989 Nashville UFO Photographs Provided by Commander Graham Bethune of the US Navy

The photographs of these UFOs were provided by Commander Graham Bethune of the US Navy. He obtained these photographs of a FS-143 saucer from a close friend who claimed to have rendezvoused with another intelligence and requests anonymity. These photographs were allegedly taken on September 27, 1989, near Nashville, Tennessee and used to build a model for theatrical events.

The photographs show strong circular columns of light shining down from the craft that suddenly stop in mid-air. Our spotlights do not function in this manner.

The Photographer’s Story

An experienced photographer was driving in a remote area near Nashville, Tennessee on the night of July 14, 1989. He saw a light behind the trees on top of a mountain several miles away at about 9:00 PM. He stopped his car, opened the trunk, picked up two cameras, a Canon AE-1 and a Canon T-90, that had previously been loaded with film. He started walking toward the bright light. The light came over the mountain several miles away and he started taking pictures with the cameras. He noticed a coronal discharge from around the perimeter of the object. It appeared to be materializing and coming into his vision. The bright light continued moving toward him. He aimed the camera at the light and started taking photos. His first photo was taken about 30 degrees above the horizon. When the object stopped he was shooting at about 50 degree up with the object still about four to six miles away. The photographer states, “I had a feeling that the craft was behind the mountain waiting for me and when it appeared it felt like I was in another world, the sounds were far, far away.” He looked at the object but could not see any definition, the light was far too bright and too far away. When he looked through the lens the craft was sharp and vivid. The craft was visible for more than five minutes, but less than ten. It seemed like forever. He changed the lens package from the T-90 to the AE-1 camera and continued shooting using all his film.

He felt he was not in control of what was happening. He remembers constantly pushing the buttons on the back of the T-90, each time he made a change it sharpened the image. The T-90 Canon with his lens package cost $3,400.00 It has four computer chips and at the time was one of the most professional cameras you could buy when purchased in 1985.” There were other witnesses, but they have been reluctant to come forward. They also were taking pictures, but the field around the craft interfered with the film as the craft moved away. They did not have high magnification lens so there was not enough definition to make the craft identifiable. The photographer has had a recent heart attack and an auto accident and does not want his name revealed.

The Canon T-9- was set upwith a spacer, two 2-2 X multipliers and 500 mm mirror lens with five filters. The lens package was 2000 mm plus. The speed of the film using the film push process is close to 3000. The camera was set up to take scenery at a distance. The computerized camera with computer chips was set to open the aperture as wide as possible. Commander Graham Bethune. was told by Bill Sherwood of Kodak that the object photographed with this package used on the camera was about five miles distant and would be 100 feet in diameter.ASA Kodak 400 or above film was used. Push processing was ordered when developing the film.

Film Analysis

Analysis of the film shows unusual colors not normally seen in any lighted object. The colors indicate a coronal discharge similar to the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights.) The photographs show a craft with approximately 32 red, white and blue perimeter lights. These lights are not used in normal aircraft configuration. At times they appear all red. At other times they are all white. Sometimes outer perimeter lights appear mixed in color indicating they may have the ability to change color.

Inside the outer perimeter lights are panels of lights. These also appear to have the ability to change color. Although they are predominantly white they are sometimes seen as partially red or black. Assuming the craft is 100 feet in diameter these outer panels take up about 40 feet or 20 feet on each side. Below the center of craft there appears to be a crystal or lights with crystal like appearance. Generally these lights appear blue. craft appears to rotate in the photos. Graham gave me his word that these were authentic photographs of an actual flying craft to the best knowledge. He has known the photographer for 24 years and the man worked for him for ten years. He has always been know to tell the truth and was of high character.

National UFO Center Note: 

I have observed a UFO at close distance. The colors of the smoke probably a coronal discharge were similar to what I saw. The lights themselves have an unusual depth of color. When you look at a colored light it is normally a white light covered by a lens of red, yellow, green, blue etc. The lights on the craft appear as if the light contain the actual color. There is a vividness of color that is difficult to describe that appears to be in these photos. The fog or plasma is penetrated by the powerful lights shining downward. The lights extend down for an estimated seventy-five feet to one hundred plus feet and seem to stop abruptly. Duplication of this capability is exceptionally difficult to accomplish with any normal lights. I have never seen lights that have these properties except on a UFO, nor have I seen comparable photography. I have over 5000 hours flying time and taken thousands of photographs. I would be very interested in any similar photographs or videos of a comparable craft.

The Phoenix Lights: Twenty Years Later

Twenty years ago this month (March 2017) one of the largest and spectacular mass UFO sightings in modern UFO history took place. Many have debunked the incident claiming that the lights seen in the sky by so many locals back in 1997, were simply flares sent out by the National Guard, but closer investigation would suggest that what occurred that night could be much more bizarre.

As people stood outside their homes in Phoenix, Arizona and looked skywards towards the Hale-Bopp comet which was passing by, many local residents witnessed a sky borne anomalous object which would later be referred to as ‘the Phoenix Lights’.

This particular mass UFO sighting was seen by thousands of local residents on March 13, 1997 as it moved slowly and silently across the Phoenix skyline. Described as a vast, gun-metal black triangle with huge round lights, the object which was first spotted at 8:15 p.m. continued to travel through the night sky for 106 minutes in total before finally disappearing from view.

One eyewitness Sue Watson said, “It had five big lights in front and it was the shape of a boomerang.” Mike Watson, another local who watched the lights in triangle formation heading straight towards him insisted that, “it was a solid craft, silent, very low to the ground.” Continuing, he added, “And the thing that took me was the size. Profoundly enormous, profoundly massive, we don’t even have a shopping centre this big.”

Seen from different vantage points across the city, the sighting caught many people’s attention and public interest in the unknown craft was bordering on hysteria over the days and weeks that followed. Excessive media coverage only served to fuel the fire, as residents were beginning to demand answers which would sufficiently explain what the mysterious lights could have been.

The previous evening, retired Lieutenant and Navajo Ranger John Dover watched the mysterious and silent lights flying over a Navajo reservation in Leupp, Northern Arizona. Dover, who paid regular visits to the Indian reservations during his time as a ranger, claimed that seeing UFOs was a regular occurrence for the residents there.

As part of an agency called the Navajo Nation Rangers, Dover had the freedom to investigate paranormal cases which were constantly being reported to the Police. Policing the Navajo reservations with his partner, Stan Milford, Dover took paranormal reports from the Navajo very seriously and together they investigated some very interesting cases and even found physical evidence in some cases which helped reinforce witness testimonies. “We finally started doing UFO cases; we had some major cases where landings and occupants were seen. Very unusual cases, very large craft”, Dover stated.

Dr. Lynne Kitei has written books and made a documentary about the lights, which she also saw that night in Arizona. “Most things can be explained, only a small percentage cannot and just because we don't have the technology to definitively define what these things are doesn't mean they aren't real”, she explained. According to Dr. Kitei, “The ‘Phoenix Lights’ is being considered around the world as the most important and most documented mass sighting in modern history.”

Over the weeks that followed, more than 700 witnesses called in reports to local officials and the National UFO Reporting Center, a private organisation based in Seattle. Governor of Arizona, Fyfe Symington III was coming under increasing pressure to supply some answers to the public regarding the lights. Shortly after, he gave a press conference in which he openly denied any knowledge of the incident and even mocked those residents claiming they saw something by dressing up a colleague in an alien costume and declaring that they had caught the culprit. It wasn’t until fifteen years after the sighting that Symington admitted, “I knew more about the lights over Phoenix than I let on.”

The evening of March 13, the Governor was eating his evening meal at home with his family when he saw the reports on the news. Deciding to personally investigate the matter further, Symington drove out to Sumida Park to see for himself what all the fuss was about. Within a few minutes of his arrival in the park, he looked up and saw what so many others had been describing; “This great big massive craft, probably 3 or 4,000 feet, took out a whole chunk of the sky,” he said. Adding, “And you could see other aircraft in the distance but the airplanes looked like little toothpicks compared to the size of this craft”.

The official explanation given at the time was that the Arizona National Guard had sent out flying A-10s to drop high-intensity magnesium flares between 9:30 and 10 p.m.

Although it is accepted that the flares were actually launched that night, the video footage, photographic evidence and multiple sightings across a wide expanse of the city confirmed that the lights from the flares were a completely separate event and were not the cause of all the reports.

When the Air Force was questioned over the appearance of the lights they avidly denied reports suggesting that they had sent out fighter planes to investigate the phenomenon. However, an anonymous phone call from an airman at Luke Air Force Base to the National UFO Reporting Center was recorded on the morning of March 14, in which he claimed that shortly after 8:30 p.m., Luke AFB did indeed send up two F-15 fighter jets.

“Apparently, we got a call from Prescott Valley Airport, a small airport north of us, reporting an object that had a near miss with a small Cessna” said the airman. “The call came approximately 8:32, that they encountered something over Phoenix, Arizona, over the area of 7th Avenue and Indian School Road. They don’t know what it was.”

One of the F-15 pilots wrote a statement which stated that they had followed the aircraft as it travelled on a straight-line course heading towards Sky Harbor Airport, at around 18,000 ft. before descending to 10,500 ft. He also described seeing five distinct lights in a triangular pattern and when he landed back at the base, the facility was immediately closed –  a total  lockdown, as “all hell broke loose”, according to the insider. Whilst reporting the incident the airman declared, “The command pilot of this particular flight...I’ve never seen this man scared, and he was scared to death. He’s not sure what it was.”

The debate over the origins of the Phoenix lights continues to this day, even as the event occurred twenty years ago this year, but the memory of that colossal UFO remains firmly etched in the minds of all those who were looking on in awe.

DETROIT - In 1966, a string of seemingly odd occurrences in Washtenaw County drew the attention of the entire country.

The events centered on a sudden wave of UFO sightings, with reports by police and citizens in March 1966.

It began on March 14, 1966, when Washtenaw County officers spotted lights in the sky, moving at high speeds over Lima Township.

The same lights were spotted by officers in Ohio, just across the Michigan border, and by observers at Selfridge Air Force Base.

The sightings triggered investigations by the Civil Defense and U.S. Air Force.

A few days following the first reports, the lights were spotted again at various locations around Washtenaw County, with one deputy reporting something floating in the sky - described as looking like a "child's top."

March 20, 1966

On Sunday, March 20, 1966, the sheriff's office received reports of a UFO landing in a wooded, swamp area of Dexter Township. Police spoke to Frank Mannor, a truck driver who had gone into the swamp with his son. Here's what Mannor told police:

"We got to about 500 yards of the thing,” Mannor told interviewers. “It was sort of shaped like a pyramid, with a blue-green light on the right-hand side and on the left, a white light. I didn’t see no antenna or porthole. The body was like a yellowish coral rock and looked like it had holes in it—sort of like if you took a piece of cardboard box and split it open. You couldn’t see it too good because it was surrounded with heat waves, like you see on the desert. The white light turned to a blood red as we got close to it and Ron said, ‘Look at that horrible thing.’”

Here's the report from the NICAP: Frank Mannor and his son, Ronald [plus 40-60 others including 12 policemen ?] saw hovering over a swamp about 1,500 ft away a brown luminous car­ sized object, with a "scaly" or "waffled" surface, cone-shaped on top, flat on bottom, or football­ shaped, and 2 bluish-green lights on right and left edges that turned bright red and helped illuminate object in between. Lights blinked out and object reappeared instantly across the swamp 1,500 ft away. The whole object lit up with a yellowish glow at one point and also rose up 500 ft then descended again. After 2-3 minutes of viewing, when 2 flashlights appeared in the distance the object seemed to respond by flying away at high speed directly over the witnesses with a whistling sound like a rifle bullet ricocheting. Object  remained in the swamp area for 1/2 hr. 

The report gained national attention. More than 40 officers joined a search of the swamp. Odd sightings continued, with officers spotting red and white lights in the sky, flying back and forth and then disappearing.

The next night, more than 80 students at Hillsdale College reported seeing lights in a nearby swamp.

The UFO craze took over, and reports from all around the Ann Arbor area, as well as surrounding areas in Michigan, started pouring in.

Here come the investigators

Michigan congressman Weston Vivian requested that the U.S. Air Force send an investigator from Project Blue Book, the agency that studied UFOs.

Dr. J. Allen Hynek, an astronomer from Northwestern, was tasked with the investigation.

Hynek arrived on March 23, touring the areas of sightings himself. What he found was something he called "near hysteria."

“It’s like reports from people who witness a fire,” Hynek told the press at the time. “You get as many different facts as you get people who saw the fire. So far, all I’ve been able to come up with is reports of a variety of lights.”

Under pressure for an explanation, Hynek told reporters during a press conference on March 25 that the sightings were simply mistaken observations of the moon and stars, and the Dexter UFO was just swamp gas.

Wait, swamp gas?

The swamp gas theory didn't go over so well. Many thought it was a huge cover-up. Several publications accused the government of hiding evidence.

Here was the actual explanation from Project Blue Book: 

A swamp Is a place of rotting vegetation and decomposition. Swamps are not a province of astronomers. Yet,the famous Dutch astronomer, Ninnaert, in his book, Light and Colour in the Open Air, describes lights that have been seen In swamps by the astronomer Bessel and other excellent observers. The lights resemble tiny flames some times seen right on the ground and sometimes rising and floating above it. The flames go out in one place and suddenly appear in another, giving the Illusion of motion. The colors are sometimes yellow, some times red, and sometimes blue-green. No heat is felt, and the lights do not burn or char the ground. They can appear for hours at a stretch and sometimes for a whole night. Generally, there Is no smell and no sound except for the popping sound of little explosions such as when a gas burner ignites.

Congressman (and future President) Gerald Ford called for a congressional investigation.

During all of this, UFO sightings continued pouring in from all over Michigan, and around the country.

UFO frenzy dies down, but mystery remains

By April 1966, the UFO frenzy had died down in Michigan, but the swamp gas explanation is still talked about to this day.

Thirty years later, Douglas Harvey, Washtenaw County sheriff at the time of the original sightings told The Ann Arbor News he and Dr. Hynek were talking in the sheriff’s office and the scientist admitted he didn’t know what the witnesses had seen, but felt it was worthy of further investigation. 

"He was on the phone for quite a while, which I found very enlightening,'' Harvey said. "He came out and I said, 'Well, Dr. Hynek. What do you think?' He said, 'It's swamp gas.' He tells me one minute he has no idea what it is. And then he makes one phone call to Washington and comes out and gives a statement that it's swamp gas. Very strange.''

"They did see something,'' he said. "I'll believe this to the day I die. Somebody has kept something quiet, and nothing more ever materialized. So we don't know if it was the government experimenting, or was it really a UFO. I don't know.''

NASA DETECTS A WARM OCEAN BENEATH SATURN MOON'S SURFACE

Despite many of the controversies with agencies like NASA with some of their choices in the past and their lack of transparency in a lot of the more controversial topics like UFOs and alien discoveries, there are no complaints to be made when it comes to less controversial information.

NASA is always the first to reveal their hypotheses as well as release information to the science world and the general public when it comes to new findings in the realm of space. 

NASA does not disappoint in a recent finding that they have recently released to the public. According to NASA's recent findings there has been an usually large amount of heat being emitted from Saturn's moon of Enceladus. The reason why something like this is relevant and important is because it may in fact domino effect into something else that is just as fascinating to scientists and those who are interested. When this occurs the chance for something called tiger stripes can occur. Tiger stripes are fractures on the moon's South Pole, which creates unique blue lines on the surface of the planet.

Leaving UFO Hunters Baffled! Another dynamic of this finding is that this means there is a body of water that is very close nearby to create this effect of increased heating, which was not known about before. This has created a lot amount of interest to surface around this topic. This could create a large amount of controversy however, because research has always indicated that a body of water means that there is a potential chance of some sort of living thing to exist on that planet. Could the Earth sudden have long-distance neighbors all the way from Saturn?

This is not the controversial part of the story though. The controversial thing is that like stated in the beginning, NASA has the tendency to become much more quiet when it comes to revealing potential living things existing on planets not from Earth. This could possibly indicate that the public is probably not going to be receiving anymore updates about this heat signature increase and body of water finding, unless it is shown to not have any life at all. This is where much of the controversy stems from. The mentality of only sharing things that are not controversial, while storing all of the devastating information for themselves and the government.

It is important to heavenly monitor what happens next for those who are interested in this topic to see how much longer NASA stays transparent on the issue at hand. Saturn is not a planet that is often spoken about or researched, however NASA has taken an unusually large amount of interest in Saturn to the point that they are willing to send a drone into space to go and research it farther. This drone is known as Cassini and has been on the job of researching Saturn for a good amount of time. The blue markings etched onto the moon are almost scary as Saturn's moon seems to look veiny and pulsating like it has its own heartbeat. This is definitely a fascinating find and is definitely worth following closely.

This could also speak to Saturn suffering from something the Earth has had a fear of for the last few centuries in global warming. The sudden heat is highly unexpected and the ice sheets on the rings of Saturn have been unusually low, to the point that NASA is finding this out all the way from planet Earth, so this could also be a huge and dangerous finding by indicating that global warming does in fact exist and it could be coming towards the Earth sooner rather than later. Something unusually creepy is occurring on Saturn, so this is an exciting yet fearful finding from NASA.

OPERATION HIGHJUMP DISCOVERED PARTS OF ANTARCTICA ARE WARM! WHAT'S HIDDEN THERE?

Last week, scientists from the Canada and Europe published a research, which has not been done before. The research focus was on the western part of Antarctica.

The results from the research have confirmed previous fears - that Antarctica melts from the bottom.

ANTARCTICA - WARM INDEED! 

The scientists have measured the temperature of the water in places, going go to a depth of one kilometer, in the western part of Antarctica. It turns out that the flow of 110,000 cubic meters of warm water is flowing to Antarctica every second. This hot water melts between 50 to 70 billion tons of ice, and it tapers to about 20 meters each year.

This is crucial because the water escapes into the ocean water. The ice cap on Western Antarctica slowly melts, and that part is larger in area than Germany. If all of this ice turns into water, then the oceans would rise by about two meters.

These scientists have made measurements at five different locations around the Western Antarctica. On a couple of the sites have discovered that the ocean is very deep. They have found an underwater canyon with a depth of 500 meters that splits into two; one is about 700 meters and the other over 1.200 meters deep. Both branches are wider than 4 kilometers. It is during these canyons running huge undersea flow of hot water to the Antarctica. Research has shown that the ice that has disappeared exactly matches the amount of heat coming from the ocean.

OPERATION HIGHJUMP

The warm place is named after Commander David E Bunger, the man who led a team of US Navy explorers to the breathtaking discovery in 1949, the region boasts “melt ponds” and unfrozen lakes.

Bunger’s discovery was part of Operation Highjump – a secret navy task force. The film 'The Secret Land' – released in 1948 – documented the exploration and captured the dramatic moment Bunger and his team found Antarctica’s most unlikely secret.

Conspiracy theorists have long claimed Antarctica is hiding secrets hidden by the powers that be.
