Alien Civilizations Are Rare Or Absent, Scientists Say

All this time, science enthusiasts lived in hope. Hope of finding extraterrestrial life. But all such notions have been put to rest with a recent study that has shown that advanced alien civilizations are probably absent or extremely rare in our universe.

Scientists had thought that such advanced alien civilizations could have been detected by waste heat, as these civilizations would have harnessed enormous energies on the scale of the stellar output of their own galaxy. These civilizations and their energies, calculated on a galactic scale, called the Kardashev Type III civilisations, were to be to be detectable in the mid-infrared part of the spectrum due to the waste heat.

But now professor Michael Garrett (ASTRON & University of Leiden) says that most of these systems present emission that is best explained by natural astrophysical processes. Garrett used radio measurements of the galaxies to come to this conclusion

"The original research at Penn State has already told us that such systems are very rare but the new analysis suggests that this is probably an understatement, and that advanced Kardashev Type III civilizations basically don't exist in the local Universe. In my view, it means we can all sleep safely in our beds tonight - an alien invasion doesn't seem at all likely!" said Garrett, according to ASTRON, the Netherlands Institute for Radio Astronomy.

"Some of these systems definitely demand further investigation but those already studied in detail turn out to have a natural astrophysical explanation too. It's very likely that the remaining systems also fall into this category but of course it's worth checking just in case!" said Garrett while continuing to explore a few galaxies that lie off of the astrophysical correlation, reports Astro Biology Magazine.

"It's a bit worrying that Type III civilizations don't seem to exist. It's not what we would predict from the physical laws that explain so well the rest of the physical universe. We're missing an important part of the jigsaw puzzle here. Perhaps advanced civilizations are so energy efficient that they produce very low waste heat emission products - our current understanding of physics makes that a difficult thing to do. What's important is to keep on searching for the signatures of extra-terrestrial intelligence until we fully understand just what is going on," said Garrett while disclosing his plans to look for these less advanced civilizations, according to Space Daily.

Meet the Lobbyist Pressuring the US Government to Disclose Extraterrestrial Activity.

Based in the nation’s capitol, Stephen Bassett is a lobbyist working tirelessly for a single, unusual cause: confronting the US Government on the existence of extraterrestrials and their presence here on Earth.

As a political activist and executive director of the Paradigm Research Group (PRG), Basset aims to end the 68-year embargo of classified information relating to alien activity while pressuring President Obama and the Executive Branch to disclose these findings to the public.

Following the statements made to me by Apollo 14 Astronaut Edgar Mitchell on government cover ups and claims of nuclear weapons tampering by extraterrestrials, I was contacted by an associate of Stephen Bassett who expressed gratitude on his behalf for covering those stories.

Seeing an opportunity to dig deeper into these claims, I decided to interview this unique D.C. lobbyist about his beliefs and mission.

Why did you decide to take up this fight and how did you get started?

I made an intellectual decision to engage the extraterrestrial phenomenon field in the winter of 1995 because I believed I could make a difference. My journey began in January of 1996 as a volunteer for the Program for Extraordinary Experience Research founded by Dr. John E. Mack in Cambridge, Massachusetts. While in Cambridge it became clear to me that the extraterrestrial issue could only be resolved by political means.

The government imposed policy of Truth Embargo had to end. In July of 1996 I relocated to the Washington, D.C., area and registered as a lobbyist on the extraterrestrial topic—the first person to do so.

Why? the presence of extraterrestrials is the most important truth in the world today with the greatest potential to alter the present course of human affairs – a course badly in need of a new destination.

What do you see as the ultimate goal?

The Disclosure advocacy movement has a very clear goal: formal acknowledgement by world governments of an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race. At this time the focus of the movement is on the United States and President Obama.

Why is it important that the government fully disclose the existence of extraterrestrials?

It would take a book to properly answer this question but here are some talking points: 1) trust in government has collapsed 2) truth is the antidote to fear 3) a vast military/intelligence/industrial complex has been created that threatens the Republic and this complex is partially a result of government’s desire to secretly address the extraterrestrial reality 4) extraterrestrial derived technologies are being withheld under the embargo that are badly needed to address the human condition 5) the executive and legislative branches of government are being weakened by the policy of embargo 6) a number of other heads of state could end the truth embargo at any time, and this would have serious geopolitical consequences for the United States.

How do you think the public will react to full disclosure?

Public response to disclosure will be overwhelmingly positive. For many, such an announcement will be anticlimactic. Over time, as the complex history of the extraterrestrial engagement emerges, some concerns will be raised. The Internet will provide the means for the human race to quickly arrive at consensus regarding these concerns and direct their governments accordingly.

There will be some negative response and perhaps acting out, but that will not be unusual. The idea that disclosure would disrupt economies, religion, governments, etc. is a concept put forward by the managers of the Extraterrestrial Truth Embargo. It is mostly propaganda.

Which branch of government is privy to the information regarding the presence of extraterrestrials?

The extraterrestrial history and engagement is most likely managed by cross-agency committees within the military/intelligence complex and working under the highest of security classifications. Each committee would address a major aspect of the issue and comprised of representatives from the appropriate agencies and services for that issue. In many or all cases the agency represented may not know of this committee. The committee may not know of other committees involved. Compartmentalization.

This approach is likely quite satisfactory for the military/intelligence community. The problem is politics. The executive and legislative branches of government have certain responsibilities regarding national security matters.

Beginning with the Johnson administration, the decision was made to remove these branches of government over time from the equation. By the time Clinton takes office, the president and the appropriate congressional committees no longer had access. They did not have a need to know and were shut out. Efforts to get information were stonewalled. Efforts to get congressional hearings were blocked. This, of course, raises serious constitutional questions.

What is the Rockefeller initiative and how are the Clintons involved?

The Rockefeller Initiative refers to the formal effort by billionaire Laurance Rockefeller to persuade the Clinton administration to release all documents in government files and grant amnesty to government witnesses who might come forward. This effort began on March 29,1996 and ended in October of 1996. Over 1000 pages of documents were obtained in 2000 by researcher Grant Cameron under the Freedom of Information Act confirming the Rockefeller Initiative.

These documents have been posted on the Internet for the past 15 years. President Bill Clinton, Secretary Hillary Clinton, John Podesta, Dr. John Gibbons and Webster Hubbell were directly involved in the Initiative. Others either directly involved or aware of the Initiative include Clinton’s Chief of Staff Leon Panetta, Clinton’s Chief of Staff Mack McLarty, Vice President Al Gore and Clinton’s Secretary of Energy Bill Richardson.

During the 25 years since the beginning of the Rockefeller Initiative none of these individuals has ever spoken publicly about it in service to their personal and political aspirations. No member of the media has ever posed a single question to any of them about it until April of this year. Since then, several queries have been put to John Podesta and Secretary Clinton by reporters. Neither have responded.

The Clinton connection to the extraterrestrial issue via the Rockefeller Initiative will be the trigger that sets the media free to finally engage and investigate the most important news story in history.

If Secretary Clinton is elected president, would that increase the chances of full disclosure?

Yes, but the Disclosure advocacy movement has no intention of waiting for that uncertain outcome. Barack Obama will be the Disclosure president.

You mentioned Nuclear Weapons tampering as the catalyst for a “media storm.” Is there hard evidence of this phenomenon?

Over the past 15 years considerable evidence has been amassed confirming incidents in which extraterrestrial craft have tampered with nuclear weapons in both the United States and the Soviet Union. The bulk of that evidence has been compiled in the book, UFOs and Nukes: Extraordinary Encounters at Nuclear Weapons Sites – by Robert Hastings. At the center of this evidence is first hand testimony by Air Force officers who were present during these incidents. One such officer, Capt. Robert Salas wrote a book about his experience—Faded Giant. More than a dozen such officers are prepared to testify before Congress under oath.

The fact that this evidence has been out in the public domain for fifteen years and no congressional committee has engaged the issue and no media venue has challenged the Air Force, the Pentagon or the White House to respond is both a disgrace and a symptom of major dysfunction.

Why do you think the term “UFO” is unacceptable when discussing full disclosure?

“UFO” is an anachronistic non-sequitur pushed forward early on by the skeptics and the government. It is as ludicrous as stating the focus of atomic physics is “ITPs”—unidentified tiny particles. The primary technique behind the Truth Embargo is the intellectual ghettoization of the phenomenon and the people who address it. “UFO” is part of the language of that ghetto designed to keep the public, the press, academics and political leaders at bay.

What has been some of the major obstacles in your mission?

The principal obstacle for the Disclosure advocacy moment is the Truth Embargo. Beginning with the early 1950s enormous time and money was invested by the government to create and maintain this embargo, which by the end of the Cold War was thoroughly entrenched. Another major obstacle is the lack of funding for advocacy projects, which is a direct result of the Truth Embargo.

Who are your most important allies?

Important allies of this movement include a growing list of intrepid reporters and editors willing to challenge the Truth Embargo, a number of countries that have proactively released tens of thousands of extraterrestrial phenomenon related files to the public domain, and some former member of Congress,  The most important ally is the Internet and the access it provides to the entire world to build awareness and consensus.

Can you describe the Citizen Hearing on Disclosure and why it was so important?

The Citizen Hearing on Disclosure or CHD was an event in which 42 military/agency/political witnesses of rank testified for 30 hours over five days before six former members of Congress regarding events and evidence confirming an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race.

It had never been done before and it was filmed in high definition and webcast worldwide. It was a mock congressional hearing held in the main ballroom of the National Press Club two blocks from the White House and a dozen blocks from the Capitol. It was extensively covered by the media.

The Citizen Hearing on Disclosure was the key that could unlock the Truth Embargo. As planned it was the platform upon which to launch PRG’s Congressional Hearing Initiative. So on November 5, 2014, 10-disk DVD sets with the full video record of the CHD were shipped to every congressional office—535. What viewers of the Citizen Hearing Disclosure would see is very much how a real congressional hearing would play out. The kinds of witnesses, the quality of their testimony, how the committee members would react and what questions would be ask. In short, the CHD took most of the political risk out of a decision by a congressional committee to hold hearings. It has made possible all that was to come.

The Dominant Life Form in the Cosmos is Probably Super intelligent Robots

If and when we finally encounter aliens, they probably won’t look like little green men, or spiny insectoids. It’s likely they won’t be biological creatures at all, but rather, advanced robots that outstrip our intelligence in every conceivable way. While scores of philosophers, scientists and futurists have prophesied the rise of artificial intelligence and the impending singularity, most have restricted their predictions to Earth. Fewer thinkers—outside the realm of science fiction, that is—have considered the notion that artificial intelligence is already out there, and has been for eons.

 

Susan Schneider, a professor of philosophy at the University of Connecticut, is one who has. She joins a handful of astronomers, including Seth Shostak, director of NASA’s Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, or SETI, program, NASA Astrobiologist Paul Davies, and Library of Congress Chair in Astrobiology Stephen Dick in espousing the view that the dominant intelligence in the cosmos is probably artificial. In her paper “Alien Minds,” written for a forthcoming NASA publication, Schneider describes why alien life forms are likely to be synthetic, and how such creatures might think.

 

“Most people have an iconic idea of aliens as these biological creatures, but that doesn’t make any sense from a timescale argument,” Shostak told me. “I’ve bet dozens of astronomers coffee that if we pick up an alien signal, it’ll be artificial life.”

 

With the latest updates from NASA’s Kepler mission showing potentially habitable worlds strewn across the galaxy, it’s becoming harder and harder to assert that we’re alone in the universe. And if and when we do encounter intelligent life forms, we’ll want to communicate with them, which means we’ll need some basis for understanding their cognition. But for the vast majority of astrobiologists who study single-celled life, alien intelligence isn’t on the radar.

 

“If you asked me to bring together a panel of folks who have given the subject much thought, I would be hard pressed,” said Shostak. “Some think about communication strategies, of course. But few consider the nature of alien intelligence.”

 

Schneider’s paper is among the first to tackle the subject.

 

 

“Everything about their cognition—how their brains receive and process information, what their goals and incentives are—could be vastly different from our own,” Schneider told me. “Astrobiologists need to start thinking about the possibility of very different modes of cognition.” To wit, the case of artificial super intelligence. “There’s an important distinction here from just ‘artificial intelligence’,” Schneider told me. “I’m not saying that we’re going to be running into IBM processors in outer space. In all likelihood, this intelligence will be way more sophisticated than anything humans can understand.”

 

The reason for all this has to do, primarily, with timescales. For starters, when it comes to alien intelligence, there’s what Schneider calls the “short window observation”—the notion that, by the time any society learns to transmit radio signals, they’re probably a hop-skip away from upgrading their own biology. It’s a twist on the belief popularized by Ray Kurzweil that humanity’s own post-biological future is near at hand.

 

“As soon as a civilization invents radio, they’re within fifty years of computers, then, probably, only another fifty to a hundred years from inventing AI,” Shostak said. “At that point, soft, squishy brains become an outdated model.”

 

Schneider points to the nascent but rapidly expanding world of brain computer interface technology, including DARPA’s latest ElectRX neural implant program, as evidence that our own singularity is close. Eventually, Schneider predicts, we’ll not only upgrade our minds with technology, we’ll make a wholesale switch to synthetic hardware.

 

 

“It could be that by the time we actually encounter other intelligences, most humans will have substantially enhanced their brains,” Schneider said.

Which speaks to Schneider’s second line of reasoning for super intelligent AI: Most of the radio-hot civilizations out there are probably thousands to millions of years older than us. That’s according to the astronomers who ruminate on such matters.

 

“The way you reach this conclusion is very straightforward,” said Shostak. “Consider the fact that any signal we pick up has to come from a civilization at least as advanced as we are. Now, let’s say, conservatively, the average civilization will use radio for 10,000 years. From a purely probabilistic point of view, the chance of encountering a society far older than ourselves is quite high.”

 

It’s certainly humbling to consider that we may be galactic infants of beetle-like intelligence compared with our cosmic brethren. But despite their superior processing power, there’s a fundamental aspect of cognition our interstellar neighbours may lack: Consciousness.

 

It sounds bizarre, but, Schneider writes, the jury’s still out on whether any artificial intelligence is capable of self-awareness. Simply put, we know so little about the neurological basis for consciousness; it’s almost impossible to predict what ingredients might go into replicating it artificially.

 

“I don’t see any good reason to believe an artificial super intelligence couldn’t possess consciousness, but it’s important to identify the possibility,” said Schneider.

 

Still, Schneider feels the assertion that artificial life simply can’t possess consciousness is losing ground.

 

“I believe the brain is inherently computational—we already have computational theories that describe aspects of consciousness, including working memory and attention,” Schneider said. “Given a computational brain, I don’t see any good argument that silicon, instead of carbon, can’t be a excellent medium for experience.”

 

I hope she’s right. Somehow, the notion of a galaxy teeming with soulless supercomputers is way creepier than introspective, WALL-E-like beings, or dry, sardonic Qs.

 

“It’s super creepy,” Schneider agrees. Indeed, Schneider, who has written extensively on the subject of brain uploading, urges that humans should reflect deeply on this potential consequence of cognitive enhancement.

 

The concept of super intelligent alien AI still sounds very speculative. And it is. But that doesn’t mean it’s not worth consideration. Indeed, expanding our purview of alien intelligence may help us identify life’s fingerprints in the cosmos. “So far, we’ve pointed antennas at stars that might have planets that might have breathable atmospheres and oceans and so forth,” Shostak told me. “But if we’re correct that the dominant intelligence in the cosmos is artificial, then does it have to live on a planet with an ocean?”

 

It’s a bit of a mind-bender to think that habitable worlds may hold false promise when it comes to advanced alien life, but that seems to be Shostak’s conclusion.

 

“All artificial life forms would need is raw materials,” he said. “They might be in deep space, hovering around a star, or feeding off a black hole’s energy at the centre of the galaxy.” (That last idea has seen its way into a number of science fiction novels, including works by Greg Bear and Gregory Benford).

 

Which is to say, they could be, essentially, anywhere.

 

Begging a final question: How might super intelligent aliens view us? Will our cosmic cousins see us as nothing more than convenient biofuel, a la the Matrix? Or do they study us quietly from afar, abiding by a Star Trek-esque maxim of non-interference? Schneider doubts either. In fact, she reckons super intelligent aliens couldn’t really care less about us.

 

“If they were interested in us, we probably wouldn’t be here,” said Schneider. “My gut feeling is their goals and incentives are so different from ours, they’re not going to want to contact us.”

 

That’s a welcome divergence from Steven Hawking’s claim that advanced aliens might be nomads, looking to strip resources from whatever planets they can, and that all efforts to contact said aliens may end in our own demise.

 

“I’d have to agree with Susan on them not being interested in us at all,” Shostak said. We’re just too simplistic, too irrelevant. “You don’t spend a whole lot of time hanging out reading books with your goldfish. On the other hand, you don’t really want to kill the goldfish, either.”

 

So, if we want to meet our galactic peers, it looks like we’ll probably have to keep seeking them out. That may take thousands or millions of years, but in the meanwhile, perhaps we’ll upgrade our own intelligence enough to level the playing field. And as an early Christmas present, it seems we can all tick alien robots juicing us for energy off the list of likely apocalypses.

Mr Hellyer, who is now 91 years old, has already recently addressed a crowd of over 500 people in Calgary as part of the Disclosure Canada Tour, which he has helped set up to raise awareness about our Alien Visitors!

 

The ‘Brave’ Canadian ex-civil servant first came out as a UFO believer ten years ago aged when he was 81 years old.

 

Paul is a great ‘determined’ man and he is NOT senile no matter what the Vile/Disgusting media make up about him! He is so very committed to this truth seeking cause, Paul believes has famously stated that the “UFOs are as common in our skies as aeroplanes” and aliens may already live among us on Earth!

 

Paul very rightly so launched a vicious attack on the mainstream media for ignoring his beliefs and thoughts on Aliens and UFO’s.

Clear UFO’s are being seen all over the world building up an even stronger case for People like Paul Hellyer! Yet another “glowing UFO” was filmed by a large number of people in Bakersfield, California, this month and posted on facebook and to local news channels in April 2015!

 

Reports also of mysterious blue lights over the same area made the news headlines back in February and March (2015).

 

Back in late March, the local residents in the southern Russian city of Stavropol caught on camera a noiseless, blinding light sweep across the night sky at 9.30pm before disappearing. Some residents even stated that there was a strange ‘groaning’ noise at the same time of the odd bright light in the sky!

 

One of Russia’s leading newspapers ‘The Moscow Times’ speculated that it was either connected to the Northern Lights (??) military action (???) a solar eclipse (????), a cloud-measuring device (getting silly now!) or aliens……!!!

Paul told CTV:

 

•   “Much of the media won’t touch it. “So you just have to keep working away and hope that someday you get a critical mass, and they will say, in one way or another, ‘Mr President or Mr Prime Minister, we want the truth and we want it now because it affects our lives.”

 

According to Mr Hellyer there are at least 80 different species of extra-terrestrials, but sceptics have labelled him deluded and crazy….a hate campaign led by the puppets on a string media!!

 

Speaking to Russian television last year, Paul said some of them “look just like us and they could walk down the street and you wouldn’t know if you walked past one”.

 

Mr Hellyer has claimed that most aliens are harmless but a handful have ulterior motives….yet to be revealed!

 

Mr Hellyer is part of an increasing number of ex-officials, including former NASA employees, military officers, or scientists, coming forward to claim to have seen UFOs which were covered up by Governments….and U.I.P salutes these brave men!

Paul Hellyer has put his whole reputation at risk after coming out with his knowledge on Aliens about ten years ago! Paul has been ridiculed continuously by the press and the governments of this world, making him out to be some crazy person!

Mr Filipov said that the had of the Catholic  Church accepting the ET’s existence is an extremely important step forward with communicating with the Alien Beings.

Like us guys at U.I.P have confirmed in one of our previous posts about ‘ET contact through the mind’ Mr Filipov believes that the Human Race is not able to communicate with the ET’s through Radio signals, but instead would need to make contact through the power of thought – using telepathy!

NASA engineer and expert pilot Alberto Behar crashed his small plane in the streets of L.A. on a clear day, the plane just lost altitude – Coincidence? Very unlikely!

Like I have stated in one of our previous posts, the Aliens appear to communicate in a ‘telepathic’ manner, something which is now reinforced by leading Scientists around the world.  It is important that we all send a clear message to the ET’s that we DO want to communicate with them and we do NEED their help!

Is this a UFO hovering over iconic Welsh landmark? Mysterious object seen floating above castle

The bizarre objected was spotted over Caernarfon Castle in North Wales and has not yet been identified

A UFO has been spotted hovering above one Wales’s most famous landmarks.

The sighting was captured on camera in broad daylight and uploaded to the “UFO Alien Sightings” channel on YouTube earlier this month.

The 40 second clip, which appears to have been filmed from the Maes in Caernarfon, shows a small dark object floating over the town’s iconic castle, reports the North Wales Daily Post.

As the camera zooms in, the object begins to descend slowly before disappearing out of view behind the castle walls.

It could be that the UFO - which stands for unidentified flying object - seen in the clip was a drone, small aircraft or even a bird.

But this isn’t the first time that a UFO sighting has been recorded in North Wales.

On January 23, 1974, people living near the Berwyn Mountains reported hearing a huge bang, felt earth tremors and saw a brilliant light in the sky above the range.

Other recorded sightings include a person talking of seeing “an unusual sighting” in Wrexham in October 2008, while another said they saw a “large black object over Rhyl” in February 2004.

Just last year the UFO Investigations and Research Unit announced that it was turning its attention to Anglesey in a quest to gather information on extraterrestrial phenomena.

My New Book: “Men In Black” Pt.1

Right now, I have a new book out titled Men in Black: Personal Stories & Eerie Adventures. This is my third book on the MIB phenomenon, the previous ones being On the Trail of the Saucer Spies and The Real Men in Black. Like most of my writing on the Men in Black, the new book demonstrates that despite widespread assumptions that the MIB are from “the government,” they clearly are not.

Of the thirty-plus chapters in the book, only two are suggestive of a government connection to the MIB controversy. The vast majority of the cases take things down very weird paths. They are paths that lead towards the domains of the occult and the paranormal. And in some cases there is absolutely no UFO link at all. In those cases, we’re seeing nothing less than full-blown supernatural activity.

As for the contents of the book, well, there’s a wide variety of data, provided by numerous eyewitnesses to the MIB and investigators of the phenomenon. David Weatherly – author of the book, Black Eyed Children – discusses the parallels between the BEC and the MIB and says the following:

“On the surface, there may seem to be few connections between the UFO connected MIB and creepy little kids with black eyes showing up on doorsteps. But, when we delve into the actual accounts, we find numerous similarities. Consider the appearance of both beings. The BEKs are usually described as having pale or pasty skin. Some witnesses report that the skin looks ‘artificial.’ Still other accounts claim that the children have olive toned skin that implies they are of Mediterranean origin. Both of these descriptions are heard in classic MIB encounters.”

Brad Steiger

Brad Steiger, who has studied the MIB phenomenon extensively, says in Men in Black: “In the case of the mythos of the Men in Black, I suggest that that eerie enigma may have begun with the machinations of a human agency assigned to investigate the actions of the more high profile investigators of the phenomenon and the more convincing witness of UFO activity with the goals of learning more about the growing interest in a worldwide phenomena. Somehow along the way, this activity of the human surveillance of other humans caught the interest of a nonhuman, paraphysical agency that has for centuries pursued goals that remain elusive, even sinister, to the individuals whom they visit.”

Regular Mysterious Universe contributor Micah Hanks provides his thoughts on the MIB and states: “We could not assert that there is truly any characteristic that clearly betrays the inhumanity of such individuals, if they do exist. However, the sensations they tend to evoke with their isolated and unwonted appearances often convey an unsettling air; at times the MIB experience is so inescapably strange — or absurd — that it seems to bear no meaning or significance at all, other than an element of confusion that further distorts the perspective of the recent UFO witness. In other cases, the purported MIB visitation is one that could only be described as the summation of terror…”

And, we have Jason Offutt, who addresses the matter of the MIB and the Hat Man: “A dark figure lurks in the shadows, watching. Something about him is out of place. The Humphrey Bogart suit? The dark obscured features? Or maybe it’s the hat. Not a ball cap, not a driving cap, but a fedora. This figure looks like it stepped from a 1940s detective magazine. Then it raises a hand, or takes a step; its movements awkward, exaggerated. Something is wrong with this man – dangerously wrong. This description, of a man in an out-of-date suit wearing an out-of-date hat, is common in the paranormal field, stretching across the line of the UFO-fixated Men in Black, and the darker, more shadowy Hat Man.”

Moving on from the researchers of the MIB phenomenon, there’s the matter of the eyewitnesses to these pale-faced ghouls. In part-two, I’ll share with you some of the details of the many and varied never-before-seen reports of the MIB that appear in my book.

Several Fleets Of UFO’s Spotted In Sarasota, FL 09-12-15

Gregg Prescott and I witnessed several fleets of UFO’s at approximately 9:30 pm Eastern to 10:30 pm on September 12, 2015. We estimate at least thirty ships crossed over our house during that period of time. We saw most of them through our ATN Gen. 3 night vision gogglesbut two very large craft with the naked eye.

 

I would like to preface by saying that I have been searching after that one big sighting for five years now. I have asked my space family to show themselves to me to prove that they are here. I feel them, but I really wanted to have a ship literally uncloak right over my house or to have my family appear to me in my living room.

 

That had never happened yet, and I re-requested to see a ship about four days ago and went outside at 3:00 am to look for them. I didn’t receive what I was hoping for that night, however the next night I had a dream that I looked outside of my bathroom window and a craft uncloaked and then cloaked itself after about 2 minutes. I can’t complain how I got my contact. Then a few days after that, Gregg and I were sitting outside and he decided to get the night vision goggles out. What happened after that was amazing!

 

There was lightning south west of us over the ocean. I bring this up because I kept asking myself if it could be a portal. Gregg said this kind of “heat lightning” was typical for Florida. We began seeing small crafts one by one, flying into a 166 degree South direction, over the top of us. So they were flying North to South basically. These were fairly high, and I can’t begin to guess how high but let’s say maybe a little higher than a small commercial airplane would fly over a residential neighborhood.

 

There were many different formations and groupings. I estimate at least 24 single ships. Some of them had veering patterns, made sharp turns to the right or left, or even stopped and started again. Some flew very fast and some just sauntered along similar to a satellite speed as if trying to blend in as one. A few were responsive to our laser light pen and powered up.

 

 

Now for the big ones. Gregg saw a huge UFO with the night vision goggles and said it was the largest ship he had ever seen. He said it was like a triangle but with four lights, and a kite-like tail of lights. It is really hard to see whether these were spheres flying at the same speed in a pattern formation or if it was one ship with lights on it, because it was through the goggles and all you see is white light moving. I tried to see it with my eyes and could not pick up on it. I then tried to find it very quickly and very excitedly with the goggles and could not see if before it was over the rooftop. We know that the triangles are said to be government ships but it didn’t seem to be that because of the fourth light, and nothing felt malevolent the whole time we were observing.

 

The one big ship I did see was so exciting. Gregg spotted it with the night vision goggles and pointed with his finger, and I picked it up with the naked eye. It had 5 or 6 or more lights on it all moving at the same speed. I could not tell if it was one ship or a fleet of spheres. The lights were white. I could not tell a pattern for the lights, nor could I see the body of the ship, only the lights moving in unison. It was a sight to see! The two big ships we saw were at approximately less than 5,000 feet.

 

At least seven or eight times we tracked dual ships moving together. One time I spotted two ships actually following behind an airplane! I handed the goggles to Gregg and he immediately tracked it because of the airplane reference, and then he saw the two ships separate and swirl back around behind the plane. It is very hard to tell if the plane was knowingly a part of the parade.

 

Another time Gregg saw a triple fleet of lights and one of them actually stopped and then took off again to join his buddies.

 

Something big was going down at that specific time, headed South in Florida. Eventually going south would take you out into the ocean from Sarasota, but where we were was still over land, as the water is directly Southwest about two miles. I felt innately that some big meeting was going on, or there was a particular time frame they needed to get somewhere, because the activity started to slow down about 10:30.

 

During this wonderful sighting, we were having such a great time. The neighbors must have been distracted by a college football game because we would see a ship and the neighbor would set off one of those bullhorn noisemaker things, which made us laugh. They had no idea what they were missing.

 

This is undoubtedly one of the coolest experiences I have had watching UFO’s. We have no idea who they were or where they were all going, but it gave me an excitement like never before. I just hope that if this is a part of disclosure, that they are here in our best interest and not a part of some type of malevolent plan.

British Cop Witnesses TALL WHITE Aliens Inspecting Fresh Crop Circle

Not many people know this, but back in 2009 a British police officer witnessed ‘Alien Beings’ inspecting a fresh crop circle in a middle of a field!

 

The Police Sergeant who has not been named, witnessed the event back in 2009.  The Policeman was off duty at the time when he noticed the unusual ‘Beings’ in the field.

 

The Police Officer pulled his car over and walked over to the field to see what was going on as he apparently had a ‘strange’ feeling about what he was seeing.  However, as he approached the ‘men’ – who were all way over 6ft tall with long blond hair – he suddenly heard “the sound of static electricity” and the trio ran away ”faster than any man he had ever seen” so fast that it apparently almost seemed ‘unreal’.

Leaving the scene of the strange event the Police Officer jumped quickly back into his car and travelled back home to Marlborough, Wiltshire, and then contacted paranormal experts and told them he had spotted a UFO.

 

Not surprisingly the Police force that the Officer works for, refused to comment at the time and stated “That it was a personal matter!”

 

The unnamed Police Officer asked for support off a Gentleman called Andrew Russell who is a Crop Circle Investigator.  Andrew described in detail what the Police officer saw on that unusual day:

 

”At first he thought they were forensic officers as they were dressed in white coveralls. He stopped his car and approached the field. ‘The figures were all over 6ft and had blond hair. They seemed to be inspecting the crop. When he got to the edge of the field he heard what he believed to be a sound not dissimilar to static electricity.

 

”This crackling noise seemed to be running through the field and the crop was moving gently, close to where the noise was.

 

”He shouted to the figures who, at first, ignored him, not glancing at him. When he tried to enter the field they looked up and began running.

 

”He said; ‘They ran faster than any man I have ever seen. I’m no slouch but they were moving so fast. I looked away for a second and when I looked back they were gone.

 

”I then got scared. The noise was still around but I got an uneasy feeling and headed for the car. For the rest of the day I had a pounding headache I couldn’t shift.”

 

This strange incident happened on July 6th as the Police Officer was driving down the road.  Apparently the three very tall figures were inspecting the odd-shaped Crop Circle in the field.  They all appeared deeply interested and analysing the Crop Circle – was it them who made it, or possibly was it their fellow colleagues from a far!?

 

The crop circle had been there in the field for a few days before this incident.

 

 

2009 was a very popular year for Crop Circles in the Wiltshire area, UK.

 

 

When the Police Officer walked over the unusual beings, they suddenly become ‘disturbed’ looking and ran off at speeds beyond the Officers belief! As soon as he looked away for a split second they were ‘gone’

 

A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said:

 

”The police officer was apparently off duty when this happened so we have no comment to make because it is a personal not a police matter.”

 

Another Crop Circle Expert, Colin Andrews, who investigated the incident alongside Andrew Russell, said he is ”convinced” by the police officer’s story and does not see any reason at all why the Officer would of made this story up!

 

”I am quite convinced the officer had an experience that day and one that we have not fully explored.”I think with the unusual movement of the being and the poltergeist experiences there is too much additional information to say that is something in nothing.” He said

 

Some have suspected that this was the Tall White Aliens that the Officer had witnessed.  The Tall whites have even been acknowledged by Edward Snowden, who believes that they are very much in contact with Planet Earth and watching our every move.

U.I.P SUMMARY – It is very interesting that this sighting was in Wiltshire, as this is one of the key UFO/Crop Circle areas around the world .Could it possibly be that what this Police Officer saw were the Beings who are responsible for these crop circles being formed around the UK, or perhaps they are just as curious as to ‘what else’ is out there trying to communicate with Earth.

 

Yes Crop Circles have been deemed by many to be elaborate fakes by students or Drunk Famers at night, but when you actually look at the sheer amount of detail involved to these incredible designs, I personally feel it is impossible for any humans to create such a spectacle over night, in the pitch black of night!

As far as what or WHO these Beings are, is a completely different matter altogether! The way that they have been described sounds just like the Tall White Aliens, and the way they move would kind of confirm that there were no odd-ball humans, but something else, something very unique and different!?

 

Is it a coincidence that one of the most unknown areas of the world, Stonehenge, is in Wiltshire, and that we have so many unusual sightings in this part of the UK……I don’t think so, and this is why this part of the world is one of THE top UFO Hotspots.

14,000 YEAR OLD UFO? – THE BALTIC SEA ANOMALY

Is the Baltic Sea Anomaly a 14,000 year old alien spacecraft that crash landed?
In what seems to come straight out of a starwars film, something like a crashed millenium falcon has been spotted at the bottom of the Baltic Sea.

The image first appeared on the sonar of Ocean X, a private treasure hunting company, a couple of years ago.

You can see its strange and artificially circular shape. It looks something like a UFO.

Also note the streak marks behind it. Look at the way they are shaped….it looks like whatever this thing was crashed and skidded along the ground before coming to a stop

The team that discovered this object noted that when their boat was directly above it some of their electrical equipment stopped working. When they sailed away , the equipment started working again.

The dive team that explored the sunken object also explained how the object appeared to have steps leading into an egg shaped entrance.
Parts of either the object or rock that had formed around it were dated to be around 14,000 years old.

Still, some experts say this could completely be a natural geologic rock formation.

But, to me at least, the way it stands out on a sonar scan, the steps and entrance the divers note, and the apparent skid marks that trail the object…a natural geologic rock formation seems like an unlikely culprit.

Just what is this object laying at the bottom of the baltic sea? Could it be an alien spacecraft that crashed long ago?

Billy Ocean: Sparked UFO fears after Isleworth concert

A Billy Ocean concert may have inadvertently sparked fears of an alien invasion in Twickenham, after mysterious lights were seen in the sky.

Residents were left flummoxed by the "weird lights" which appeared above the town last night but it seems it may have been caused by the Isleworth gig.

Christine Joanna Hart, who lives in Northcote Road, St Margarets, said she filmed the "bouncing" lights from her home.

She said: "Some of them were disappearing up and down, I said to my son "guess what, I've seen a UFO".

"It was awesome and the most exciting thing I have ever seen."

Ms Hart said she successfully filmed the 'UFOs' in the sky but when she reviewed the video nothing could be seen.

The RTT can confirm that the video does not show UFOs, but appears to be darkened, as if it is filming a black screen.

An entranced Ms Hart's voice can be heard over the top saying: "There's flying lights in the sky. Oh. My. God.

"They all lined up and then they kind of went to one side and then they vanished and they came back and there they are again.

"Now they are making like a shape - this is f**king awesome."

And she was not the only one to be left perplexed by the unusual sky display.

Smiti Lukhman said: "Anyone else in Hounslow seeing these weird lights in the sky?".

@hemal_96 wrote on Twitter: "So those weird lights in the sky were apparently from twickenham stadium".

Richmond Council said the lights were unlikely to be from Twickenham stadium but said the strange lights could have been from the Redlees Park gig in, which used lasers.

SEPTEMBER 15 UPDATE: An England 2015 spokesman has confirmed it has "undertaken a few lighting tests" at the stadium and said this could be the source of the strange lights.

Stephen Hawking Wants To Hurry Up And Find Aliens Already

Stephen Hawking, along with a group called Breakthrough, launched two initiatives in July to try to find alien life elsewhere in the universe. Yuri Milner, a Russian billionaire, is bankrolling the project.

The first part is called Breakthrough Initiative, and will see $100 million invested to search the skies using the Green Bank Observatory in West Virginia and the Parkes Observatory in New South Wales, Australia. It will be 50 times more sensitive than previous searches, and cover 10 times more space than anyone has ever tried before. That starts in 2016.

The second part of the initiative is called “Breakthrough Message” and will offer prizes totaling $1 million to whomever can come up with the best message to send in to space, in case alternate lifeforms are listening to Earth. Details of the competition have not yet been released, but according to the Breakthrough Initiatives website, they promise not to beam any messages in to space until “a wide-ranging debate at high levels of science and politics on the risks and rewards of contacting advanced civilizations” has taken place.

The astronomers and philosophers at SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) are now entering the contest. At a conference in Leeds last week, they discussed how the content of this message needs to be updated from what NASA sent up aboard the Pioneer 10 spacecraft in the ’70s. According to Jill Stuart at the London School of Economics:

• “We really need to rethink that with any messages we are sending out now. Attitudes have changed so much in just 40 years. I would be uncomfortable with sending out any images or messages that include Western-dominated material.”

She’s referring to this plaque (which was developed by Carl Sagan) that was included with Pioneer 10, which finished its 30-year mission to Jupiter in 2002:

If alien life exists, we’re not even sure it’ll have eyesight like ours that will let them see 2D pictures. Should we send them math formulas? Music? The SETI group had a hard time deciding if they’d even enter the competition, because some dudes have watched Predator way too many times.

• “…the thinking was that the silence in the skies might be because alien civilizations are hiding from us, and that it might be stupid to attract attention,” said Anders Sandberg.

The nearest star system that could possibly hold life is 10 light years away, which means it could take at least 20 years for any missive we send out to space to reach the first group of maybe aliens. A crashed UFO discovered in Antarctica?

In the distant past, Antarctica is believed to have been a thriving content very different from what we see today. Some even believe, that ancient civilizations might have prospered on this once great continent, which is today, hidden beneath layers of ice and snow. Today, Antarctica is a nearly inhospitable place on Earth and everything that might have existed in the distant past on Antarctica lies hidden beneath the snow. There are countless legends that are connected with Antarctica, some of them speak about incredible pyramids hidden across the harsh landscape, secret underground facilities where the impossible comes to life and some even believe that somewhere, on Antarctica, lies the entrance to the mythical land of "Shangri-La", a paradise located in the interior of the Earth. UFO stories aren't something uncommon when it comes to Antarctica, and in this article, we discuss a possible UFO crash site that has been found with the help of Google Earth. 

 

If you really believe that all of this are just legends and fairytales you should probably take a moment and use Google Earth and visit Antarctica for yourself. All of a sudden science fiction stories come a step closer to reality, as you will find many unexplained things which are easily identifiable on the white surface. 

 

Russian researcher Valentin Degterev used google Earth and might have found an actual UFO crash-site on Antarctica. As Degterev was looking at Antarctica's landscape he came across a huge unidentified object half buried in the snow.  Degterev came across this mysterious object a couple of years ago, but according to Degterev, this object crashed on Earth in the distant past, possibly millions of years ago. After publishing the images of the alleged UFO on social media, the news went viral all over the world.

 

Degterev stated: "I think it's a huge flying disc-shaped machine buried in the frozen ice, I found the mysterious object using Google Earth while looking at Antarctica. Amid the endless ice desert, it is a genuine UFO in its most classic form."

 

The Russian "researcher" also disclosed the coordinates where he had found the object so that anyone can check it out and form their opinion. Here are the coordinates: 80 ° 34'08.4 "S 30 ° 05'19.3" W. According to Degterev the UFO is about 20 meters wide and 70 meters long, ruling out the possibility that it was a natural formation like a cliff or a large crack, and could not be a polar station, a crashed plane, or a lost boat.

 

 

Nigel Watson, author of the UFO Investigations Manual, said: ‘It’s hard to tell if this a “classic” saucer sticking out of the ice, or whether it is a break in the ice.

‘Antarctica has a long tradition of being the resting place of crashed saucers or a base for their operations.’ 

 

Degterev went further and stated that the mysterious object definitely had a metallic body and was not made of rock or stone. But Andrew Fleming, a researcher at the British Antarctic Survey told the Daily Mail Online that the object was clearly a large crack in the floor of Antarctica. "Its a crevasse. A crevasse is a lot of ice formed by differential movement of the ice,' he said.

'They can be tens of metres deep. It's one large slot, nothing unusual, but they are spectacular. It's certainly not a UFO, though.'

UFO expert says mystery surrounding extraterrestrial life is close to being unravelled

The leading American UFO investigator said mainstream science had opened up the door for ufologists to investigate physical traces of alien activity.

But she said it would take a big event such as Victoria’s Westall case in 1966 to reveal the full scope of the paranormal world — not the government revealing what it knows.

“I believe 100 per cent the government is covering up UFO activity,” she told the Sunday Herald Sun.

Ms Kloetzke, deputy director of the world’s biggest UFO organisation, Mutual UFO Network, is among the top minds of ufology who have gathered in Melbourne for the Edge of Reality Ufology conference.

About 130 people attended the conference at the Jasper Hotel in the CBD.

It is her first time in Australia and she said she feels like she is “in heaven” as the country is known for some of the most anomalous cases.

She said Australia was unique with its big open spaces that seemed to attract more UFOs.

Ms Kloetzke, author of Admissible: The Field Manual for investigating UFOs, Paranormal Activity and Strange Creatures, as well as children’s book Are Aliens Really Real, said UFO sightings and alien encounters were “escalating” with about 900 cases a month reported worldwide.

“’Those are just the citizens of the world that are reporting it — there’s many others who don’t,” she said.

She had one question for Victorians: “Who thinks we’re absolutely here all by ourselves?”

Playing on the sports oval at Westall High School in Clayton South, more than 200 students and teachers described witnessing a grey saucer-shaped craft with a slight purple hue fly over about 10.30am. The UFO shot over some pine trees, where it is believed to have briefly landed, leaving a mark on the ground.

The Rosedale water tank mystery

September 30, 1980

A 54-year-old farmhand on a property 8km from Rosedale in the Gippsland region woke at 1am to a screeching noise — and the cattle clearly distressed — and went outside to investigate. He described a dome object with a white top and orange underneath with circular windows or lights, hovering around a 10,000-gallon open-topped water tank. The UFO landed beside the tank, leaving a ring mark on the grass. The next day the full tank was mysteriously empty.

The Burkes Flat “bent headlight beams”

April 4, 1966

Around 8pm, Ron Sullivan witnessed an unusual object putting on a light display in a paddock while driving along Dunolly-St Arnaud Rd, near Bourkes Flat in central Victoria. He said his car’s headlights bent towards the UFO, causing him to veer off the road and almost hit a tree. Two days later, another driver died after hitting the tree Mr Sullivan had swerved to miss. Researchers ponder if that driver experienced the same phenomena.

The Kelly Cahill encounter

August 8, 1993

Mother Kelly Cahill was driving home with her husband and three children in the Dandenong foothills, near Belgrave, when they noticed the lights of a rounded craft with windows just after midnight. She recalls her whole family being abducted by aliens and how they controlled their minds and performed embarrassing procedures on them.

ALIEN ABDUCTION ~ FACT OR FICTION?

If the figures are to be believed, up to 4 million people have been abducted by aliens in the US, with many millions more captured world wide. Although the existence of human hungry aliens might be impossible to disprove per se, it is unlikely that extra-terrestrials could manage such mass kidnappings without being commonly noticed. This suggests that there are many people who falsely believe they have been seized by creatures from outer-space, perhaps after experiencing unusual and bizarre phenomena. The purpose of this article is to communicate some of the recent research in psychology and neuroscience that gives us some clues as to how and why these experiences and beliefs occur.

Some of the many thousands of people who claim to have been abducted are likely to be fortune seekers, bar-room braggers, publicity hounds and maybe even some genuine abductees. Yet with the high numbers of people reporting abductions, many of the people who believe they have been captured will likely have been mistaken.

The History of Abductions

Yes there are signs of crafts being seen in the sky and alien contact in ancient text, but without knowledge as to what these hieroglyphs, paintings etc actually symbolize or mean we will stay away from ancient astronaut theories and look at recorded history.

The First reported Sighting to make Print!

In the November 27, 1896 edition of the Stockton, California Daily Mail, Colonel H. G. Shaw claimed he and a friend were harassed by three tall, slender humanoids whose bodies were covered with a fine, downy hair who tried to kidnap the pair.

Colonel H. G. Shaw, along with his friend Camille Spooner, had a close encounter with previously unknown entities.

Shaw was in charge of putting together an exhibition to be displayed at a Fair in Fresno.

Shaw and friend were traveling by horse and carriage in route to Stockton, when their horse froze with fright.

To the two men’s shock, they saw the cause of the horse’s actions; three tall alien looking beings with small delicate hands at the end of their spindly arms stood by the road. They had no hair on their heads, yet a soft, light fuzz over their bodies. Large eyes made their small mouths and ears appear even smaller.

The two eyewitnesses would later tell authorities that the beings had a “strange” type of beauty to them.

All of the beings carried with them a bag of some kind with a hose which they often stuck in their mouths, obviously to breath with. Although there was still some daytime left, the beings also carried with them egg-shaped lamps which glowed. This glow would later illuminate a waiting spaceship.

As the men watched the aliens, the beings were communicating with each other by a type of chant, as no English words were heard by Shaw and Spooner. The men would tell authorities that the aliens made an attempt to abduct them, but that the large difference in mass between the human and alien body thwarted the effort.

Soon, the three alien beings made a move toward a nearby bridge. Using their other worldly lamps, the aliens lighted up the bridge, showing a nearby craft. The UFO was of a cigar shape, and it hovered quietly over the water.

The beings seemed to be almost lighter than air as they moved toward their craft. It seemed that the aliens would almost leave the ground as they walked on the earth.

The beings entered the hovering cigar UFO in a most unconventional way also. They sprung up from the ground and above their craft, and then floated down into the craft through an unseen entry. Soon, the object flew away.

Then in the 1940s and ’50s.

The Space Age was upon us, and sci-fi literature was soaring in popularity with human-alien encounters a recurring theme. In July 1946, “Planet Comics” ran a strip in which aliens used a luminous tractor beam to kidnap a voluptuous female earthling, whom they called Specimen 9. They tell her the abduction is part of “Project Survival,” and as they steer their spaceship toward what looks like Saturn, the leader remarks, “Now home. And if you find our methods ruthless, Specimen 9, it is because our needs are desperate.”

Likewise, in 1954, a comic strip appearing in the British tabloid The Daily Express detailed the alien abduction of a Royal Air Force pilot. Dozens of other abduction stories graced the pages of sci-fi novels and comic books.

June 24, 1947 The Kenneth Arnold Incident

Kenneth Arnold, a businessman, was flying his private plane near Mount Rainier in Washington State when he saw nine shining discs moving against the background of the mountain. He estimated their speed as about 1,000 mph. He said that they swerved in and out of the peaks of the Cascade Mountains with “flipping, erratic movements.” He later told a reporter that the objects moved as a saucer would “if you skipped it across the water.” The next day the story appeared in newspapers all over the nation, calling the strange objects “flying saucers.” Hundreds of people soon began reporting sightings of flying saucers, and a US Air Force investigation was initiated; on 4 July, ten days after the sighting, the US Air Force announced confidently that Arnold had been “hallucinating.”

1953 Hunrath and Wilkinson Disappearance

The 1950s was a time of major UFO activity but it was also a time in UFO history known by a group of persons known as “UFO contactees”. These individuals claimed to have made contact with the alien occupants of the flying saucers. For some these contacts were face to face, for others the communications were telepathic. Some claimed to have been given rides on alien spacecraft. Most of the mainstream UFO organizations of the time gave little credence to the contactees, and believed most to be hoaxers or people suffering from delusions. One of the most famous contactees was George Adamski.

George Adamski was born in Poland and immigrated to the US at a young age. By the 1930s, he was living in California as a sort of guru practicing “Universal Progressive Christianity”. He set up a small observatory at a restaurant “Palomar Gardens” below the famous Mount Palomar Observatory. By the early 1950s, Adamski was taking photographs of flying saucers with his telescope and writing science fiction and articles about the occult. On November 20, 1952, Adamski reportedly met an angelic looking man named Orthon who emerged from a landed flying saucer, claiming to be from Venus. During this encounter at the base of the Coxcomb Mountains, not far from Desert Center, California, Adamski was accompanied by six people who were told by Adamski to stay behind while he made the contact with Orthon.

After this encounter, Adamski attracted a small group of followers. One of these was Karl Hunrath, a electrical engineer, who had invented “Bosco” a device which was intended to bring down flying saucers. After a dispute with Adamski, Hunrath moved away from Palomar Gardens and rented an apartment in Los Angeles with Jerrold Baker, a handyman at Palomar Gardens who had also had a falling out with Adamski.

Karl Hunrath was soon working as a radio technician. In June 1953, a old friend of Hunrath’s from Racine, Wisconsin, Wilbur J. Wilkinson, arrived in Los Angeles with his wife and three children. Wilkinson, a co-inventor of Bosco, had left his job as a foreman at an electrical appliance plant, to join Hunrath in his efforts to see a flying saucer and meet an alien.

The two men developed an interest in channeling aliens, meeting other contactees and using psychic techniques and mechanical contractions to communicate with the “Maserians”, beings who allegedly lived on the moon.

On or about November 10, 1953, Karl Hunrath made phone calls to several associates telling them that some people had left Earth for other planets and that no one should be surprised if this might happen to him. On November 11, 1953, Hunrath and Wilkinson rented a small plane at Gardina County Airport near Los Angeles. With three hours of fuel, one hour paid rental, and no filed flight plan, Hunrath flew off with his passenger Wilkinson with the likely intent to meet a grounded saucer which they apparently presumed would take them to Maser, Venus or some other off-Earth populated celestial body.

Apparently to this day, no trace of the aircraft or the two men has been found. Most people presume that Hunrath, an inexperienced pilot, probably crashed somewhere in the mountainous terrain east of Los Angeles. If this is so, the aircraft wreckage may be out there still.

Wilbur J Wilkinson, provided this script, claiming it was from a race using the moon as a way-station for its people from the planet Maser.

NOTE: Adamski was quoted as saying “I made enough wine for all of Southern California…I was making a fortune!” However, the end of Prohibition also marked the decline of his profitable wine-making business, and Adamski later told two friends that’s when he “had to get into this [flying] saucer crap.

Antonio Villas Boas Abduction Case

In 1957, a Brazilian writer named João Martins penned the first installment of a series titled “Flying Saucers’ Terrible Mission” for the magazine O Cruzeiro. “There he describes cases of people in isolated places attacked by small alien beings”.

Martins also asked his readers to write him with their own experiences. Among hundreds of responses, he selected one of a young farmer from Minas Gerais with whom he exchanged several letters.

The next year, Martins paid for the 23-year-old farmer to come to Rio de Janeiro, where he was examined by Dr. Olavo Fontes. The farmer’s name was Antonio Villas Boas, and he claimed to have been abducted by aliens one day after reading Martin’s article?

The story got out. Walter Buhler of the Brazilian ufology group SBEDV, and a follower of the self-described alien contactee George Adamski, learned about Vilas Boas’ story, and in 1962, Buhler visited the young farmer in his hometown. The SBEDV subsequently published a report on the Villas Boas case in English, and the account aligned with Adamski’s earlier descriptions of aliens and their spaceships. In January 1965, an international journal called the Flying Saucer Review reproduced Buhler’s report worldwide.

Villas Boas was working the fields at night to avoid the scorching temperatures of the day, when he saw the red light of a spaceship; it slowly approached him and landed nearby in a field. Villas Boas tried to escape but was captured by small humanoid creatures, which dragged him into their craft.

The aliens conducted a series of experiments on their captive, including taking samples of his body tissue, exposing him to a gas that made him violently ill, and compelling him to have sexual intercourse with a female alien, who was, Villas Boas said, very attractive, with blonde hair and blue, cat-like eyes.

A few details hint that the story was fabricated or imagined. “If you read Villas Boas’ account you may notice the advanced aliens nonetheless used rope ladders. Moreover, “Villas Boas’ original sketch of the alien spaceship, with three legs, looks remarkably like the drawings of Sputnik-1, often depicted with three of its four antennas showing. The Sputnik surely was the talk of the time in 1957 when Villas Boas was supposedly abducted — or imagined his story.”

The Betty and Barney Hill Case

Widespread publicity was generated by the Betty and Barney Hill abduction case of 1961, culminating in a made-for-television film broadcast in 1975 (starring James Earl Jones and Estelle Parsons) dramatizing the events. The Hill incident was probably the prototypical abduction case and was perhaps the first in which the claimant described beings that later became widely known as the Greys and in which the beings were said to explicitly identify an extraterrestrial origin.

The Hills were an interracial couple in the 1960s, and the exhibit discusses Barney Hill’s civil rights activism. However, the couple is best known for giving the first reported incident of an alleged alien abduction in America.

Today, due to television shows and films, the scenario is familiar: UFOs chase down terrified witnesses on a desolate road and take them onto the spaceship to ask them questions or probe them in awkward places.

It began one night when Barney and Betty Hill claimed they were pursued by a glowing UFO through parts of New Hampshire. Betty soon had vivid nightmares (which she interpreted as fragmented memories) about the incident, and the couple came to believe that they had been abducted by the UFO’s occupants, who then erased their memories. The couple sought the help of a psychiatrist, and under hypnosis both Hills soon reported full-blown, detailed “repressed memories” of their abduction.

The Barney and Betty Hill story was celebrated as the most important UFO-related event in the 1960s, and spun into a media sensation. Their experiences became fodder for many magazine articles, books, and a made-for-TV film called “The UFO Incident.” Betty became a UFO celebrity, giving media appearances and writing a book about her story.

As the years passed, however, the story lost its gloss and most realize it to be a hoax.

No other witnesses could support their account, parts of it were implausible, and the validity of “repressed memories” was called into question. Betty Hill’s own reported experiences cast doubt on her credibility. In the decades since her original 1961 experience with her husband Barney, Betty claimed not a few, nor dozens, but hundreds of UFO sightings.

Though UFO investigators desperately wanted to believe her, that became more difficult. One UFO researcher who worked with Betty noted that she was “unable to distinguish between a landed UFO and a streetlight.” In other words, she saw UFOs where none existed.

Even many UFO believers reluctantly admit that much of Betty Hill’s experiences and stories cannot be true and instead are likely imaginative fantasies of a sincere but confused woman. With little or no corroborating evidence and no eyewitnesses to support their remarkable story, the Barney and Betty Hill abduction case is, as often happens, inconclusive at best and a complete fabrication at worst.

If the Witnesses are not hoaxers or scammers then what else explains these experiences?

Sleep paralysis
Awareness during sleep paralysis is a common explanation for this confusion, most probably as abduction experiences and conscious sleep paralysis attacks often share many of the same features, such as waking whilst unable to move, feelings of fear, dread or unease and a feeling of pressure on the body. Normal sleep paralysis happens when the body enters the REM stage of the sleep cycle. The brain stem blocks movement signals that would normally travel from the brain to the muscles, probably to stop us carrying out the movements we dream about doing. The frightening aspect of this occurs when a sleeper awakens, becomes conscious, but who’s movement control is not reinstated by the brain. This state can also be accompanied by what are known as ‘hypnopompic’ hallucinations which occur naturally to many people whilst awakening. These hallucinations can take the form of voices, lights, figures or any number of strange bodily sensations. It is little wonder that when combined with fearful paralysis such uncanny experiences might be interpreted as alien in origin.

Temporal lobe disturbance
Another commonly cited source of internal spookiness are the temporal lobes of the brain. Electrical stimulation of the surface of the temporal lobes (usually done on an awake patient when they are undergoing brain surgery) can produce unusual auditory sensations. Similarly, Michael Persinger, a Canadian scientist, has produced strange sensations in his research participants by using magnets to influence temporal lobe function from outside the skull. Such sensations have included feelings of a ‘presence’, disorientation and fear. It would seem unlikely that a possible abductee would fail to notice if someone placed large magnets near his or her head (or even that they were subject to brain surgery !) before the ‘abduction’ experience. However, similar effects can be caused by epileptic or similar seizures in the temporal lobes. Many epilepsy sufferers who have temporal lobe seizures report mystical experiences, missing time, out of body feelings or even strange smells or ‘atmospheres’ prior to, during or after a seizure. It must be remembered that not all forms of epilepsy cause dramatic shaking of the body, and many simply result in brief lapses of consciousness or experiences such as those noted above. This leads us to wonder whether disturbances in the temporal lobes may also contribute to experiences which some people may interpret as an alien abduction.

Mental illness
Surprisingly, overt mental illness may be one of the least likely explanations for abduction experiences. Research has previously suggested that alien contactees are no more likely to show signs of mental illness than the general population, a finding which has been backed up by several other studies. However, many features once thought present only in mental illness have now been discovered to be held by much of the population. If we look at the healthy population as a whole, these features seem to exist on a continuum with some people reporting anomalous thoughts and feelings or having certain traits more than others. In this vein, it seems people who report themselves as abductees are more likely to endorse unusual experiences, be creative and imaginative, have depressive ideas, be suspicious, have dissociative tendencies and to have suffered childhood trauma. So whilst it seems unlikely that the bizarre experiences reported by most ‘abductees’ stem from severe mental illness (which can produce equally bizarre and seemingly real experiences) it is certainly the case that this group has characteristics that differentiate them from the general population. It is possible that these dispositions may increase the tendency for them to explain an anomalous experience in terms of alien contact.

Memory distortion
Our memories are often infuriatingly fallible, leading us to forget information we want to remember, remember information we’d rather forget, or often confidently recall something that later turns out to be inaccurate. A recent study has investigated memory distortions in people claiming to have been subject to alien capture. Participants in the study were read several lists of similarly themed words then given tests of recall and recognition. The results of the study indicated that ‘abductees’ were able to remember words from the original list as well as ‘non-abductees’, but tended to show a higher rate of recall and recognition for words that were never actually read out in the first place. This suggests that the ‘abductees’ are more likely to misidentify the source of memories, perhaps suggesting that some elements of their abduction experience may have been culled from other sources such as the media or their own imagination.

This effect may also work retrospectively, allowing people to co-opt previous memories to support an abduction account. An early memory study conducted by Frederic Bartlett demonstrated that we reconstruct memories as they are recalled to create a coherent story. This reconstruction takes place using cultural references that give us a frame on which to hang the various remembered experiences. The alien abduction experience is well known to almost everyone, due to the popularity of shows such as the X-Files, and famous cases which have hit the headlines. This may give some people a cultural framework on which they can hang memories from a bizarre, unusual or traumatic experience. Unfortunately it is even the case that naïve or even unscrupulous therapists may push alien abduction as a explanation for a bizarre experience that a client may have undergone. Many examples of therapists willing to use hypnotic regression, a technique noted for its tendency to cause false recall, to recover abduction experiences can be found on the internet. Perhaps giving an off-the-shelf explanation for strange experiences that the brain is quite capable of generating, without the need for extra-terrestrial intervention.

Conclusion
It would certainly be foolish to discount the possibility of anything unlikely, simply because of its improbability. Yet we must also remember that we can often find explanations for anomalous experience within ourselves. As the old doctor’s adage goes ‘When you hear hoof beats, start by thinking horses not zebras’. This would seem to work as well for zebras as it does for visitors from outer-space.
