NASA Scientists Reveal Four Alarming Facts About Extraterrestrial Life On Mars

Last weekend, NASA called for a press conference to announce a major discovery regarding the planet Mars. During the meeting, they revealed some pretty shocking information, completely changing what we once thought about the “red” planet that, suddenly, doesn’t seem so red anymore.

1. Mars Has Flowing Rivers Of Water On It

Yesterday, NASA announced that Mars actually has rivers of flowing water on it. What we once believed to be an arid and rocky desert of a planet is actually seasonal, not unlike our own planet Earth.

Lujendra Ojha, a planetary scientist at the Georgia Institute of Technology, made the discovery by using images from NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.

This raises a number of other questions, many of which are brought up in the press conference below.

2. Mars Could Have Had Extraterrestrial Life Living On It

“We are going to Mars, our journey to Mars is a science led expedition right now, but soon I hope we’ll be sending humans to the red planet to explore and science will lead the way. And today’s announcement of a really fascinating result about current water on Mars is one of the reasons why I feel it’s even more imperative that we send astrobiologists and planetary scientists to Mars to explore the question of, ‘Is there current life on Mars?’ ” – John Grunsfeld, five time space flown astronaut, Associate Administrator Head of NASA Science Mission Directive

Obviously, with the announcement that there is water on Mars, the possibility of life near the surface becomes ever more plausible. The press conference also goes into more details about the atmosphere and condition of Mars, and how the planet could have supported life in the past. I will elaborate on this in the next section.

Another interesting fact is that the possibility of life in the interior of Mars has always been quite high.

3. Mars Was Once A Planet Very Much Like Earth, With A Giant Ocean

“The more we observe Mars, the more information we’re getting that it really is a fascinating planet, from the Curiosity Rover we now know that Mars once was like a planet very much like Earth, with long salty seas, with fresh water lakes, probably with snow capped peaks and clouds and a water cycle just like we’re studying here on Earth … Something has happened to Mars, it lost its water.” – John Grunsfeld, five time space flown astronaut, Associate Administrator Head of NASA Science Mission Directive

John also goes on to discuss the high likelihood that Mars previously sustained life, before whatever happened to the planet that lead to its change in climate. Scientists are still struggling to work out what exactly that event or series of events may have been. 

“Mars is the planet most like Earth … [and in the past,] Mars was a very different planet, it had an extensive atmosphere, and in fact it had what we believe was a huge ocean, perhaps as large as two thirds the Northern Hemisphere. And that ocean may have been as much as a mile deep. So Mars indeed three billion years ago had extensive water resources. But something happened. Mars suffered a major climate change and lost its surface water.” – James Green, NASA director of planetary physics

As pointed out in the press conference, this discovery is so exciting because it suggests that Mars could possibly sustain life in the present day. This is not only due to the presence of water; rovers have discovered that there is a lot more humidity in the air than we once thought. Indeed, the soils are moist, hydrated, and full of water.

4. Something Happened To The Planet That Drastically Changed Its Climate

As you can see from the two quotes in the above section by John Grunsfeld and James Green (taken from the press conference below), something happened to Mars that drastically changed its environment. It seems the climate altered significantly, but what caused this change? Scientists at NASA have yet to figure this out, but some interesting theories have been proposed.

Given the fact that scientists are almost certain that life once existed on Mars, and without question throughout the universe, is it really that farfetched to assume that a race of intelligent beings once inhabited Mars?

We already have statements from a number of astronauts suggesting that intelligent extraterrestrial life has already been discovered.

It’s not only a large and growing number of NASA astronauts who share this belief, it’s also political, military, and academic personnel from all over the world. And then there are the thousands of pages of documents detailing UFOs undertaking incredible aerial maneuvers. So, did historical intelligent life on the planet Mars have something to do with its drastic climate shift? At this point it’s impossible to say, but according to Dr. John Brandenburg, PhD, and plasma physicist, life on Mars was eradicated by nuclear war. He believes that a couple of intelligent civilizations from ancient history were responsbile for this, and in his published works, argues that the coloration and composition of Martian soil points to a series of “mixed-fission explosions” which lead to nuclear fallout on the planet.  (source)(source)

Like the astronauts quoted above, Brandenburg is no crackpot, he was involved in the Clementine Mission to the Moon, which was part of a joint space project between the Ballistic Missile Defence Organization (BMDO) and NASA. Maybe intelligent life did have something to do with it? Brandenburg certainly seems to think so, but regardless of what caused Mars’ climate shift, we’ve certainly been left with some fascinating information to consider.

This story now coincides with what heavily criticized UFO whistle blower Bob Lazar stated in his claims that Area 51 had "Three" disc shaped crafts, only recently was Bob Lazar proved right when he first stated that a fuel called "Element 115" was in an extraterrestrial craft he was signed to backtrack on its technology, for years the government stated he was lying and there is no such thing as element 115, but now its been acknowledged that an element 115 has been created which proves he was stating the truth.

Ministry of Defence officials 'DID investigate mass UFO sightings in West Wales village'

The Broad Haven Triangle sightings made national headlines nearly 40 years ago

New details have emerged shedding light on a spate of mysterious UFO and alien sightings which gripped a West Wales community almost 40 years ago.

Dubbed the 1977 Broad Haven Triangle mystery, conspiracy theories went into overdrive when reports emerged that 14 pupils from Broad Haven primary school had seen a UFO landing in Pembrokeshire.

The head teacher at the time backed up their claims, saying they had all drawn similar pictures of the craft.

Many others reported being petrified by a strange silver alien.

Now a new novel claims to have revealed details of a declassified MoD document which suggests top-ranking officials carried out a covert inquiry into the mysterious activities.

'Archive evidence'

The Watchers by Neil Spring is said to be based on “true events” and promises to reveal the truth about what really happened at Broad Haven.

According to the Express, Mr Spring researched the case through documents sent to the National Archives 30 years after the bizarre happenings and after a new witness came forward.

“I visited Broad Haven a sceptic, and came away convinced that some of the locals knew far more about the mysterious occurrences of 1977 than they are willing to reveal,” he said.

'Faceless humanoid'

According to documents held at the National Archive in Kew, the story began one night in April 1977 at 2.30am when Rosa Granville, who ran the Haven Fort Hotel in Little Haven, was awoken by strange noise and lights.

Looking out of her window, she described seeing an object which looked like an “upside-down saucer” in the field next to the hotel and two “faceless humanoid” creatures with pointed heads.

The incident, she said in a subsequent letter she wrote to her MP Nicholas Edwards, left her “agitated and disturbed and not the least bit desirous of another encounter”.

'Inundated with sightings'

On receiving Mrs Granville’s letter back in 1977, Mr Edwards contacted the Ministry of Defence and Flight Lieutenant Cowan, an officer from RAF Brawdy, then visited the hotel.

The MP said at the time: “I am being inundated at the present time with representations about UFOs said to have been seen in Pembrokeshire.”

Other incidents reported in the Broad Haven area at the time included a class of schoolchildren who claimed to have seen a spacecraft near their playground.

Then a family said they saw several UFOs in the space of a week, as well as several sightings of silver-suited creatures.

MoD officials expressed no interest, saying there was no threat to national security.

'Discreet inquiry'

However, among the documents was a letter from the head of the MoD’s S4 wing to the Provost Security Service, the RAF’s internal police force.

The S4 chief wrote: ”I have not even told the Minister I am consulting you” and called for a “discreet enquiry” after expressing bewilderment at the number of apparently “level-headed” witnesses to the strange activity.

Mr Spring said: “(The new witnesses’) testimony rocked the very foundations of the British Government.”

'Bombshell document'

Nick Pope, who worked as UFO investigator for the MOD, said: “This bombshell document shows how the MoD’s UFO project asked the RAF Police to conduct a secret investigation into these mysterious events, while Parliament, the media and the public were being told the subject was of no defence significance.

“Defence ministers were cut out of the loop.”

The disclosures have prompted Tory peer Lord Black of Brentwood to call for a full explanation from the MoD of what it uncovered.

'More answers needed'

Lord Black said: “A number of recently released MoD files leave little doubt that a small number of sightings of aerial phenomena - particularly by military personnel, pilots and air traffic controllers - remain unexplained and unidentified.

“There needs to be further examination of these issues in the hope of learning something new.”

The sightings in Broad Haven took place near a military base, leading some observers to suggest the crafts had actually been Harrier jump jets and the aliens were just men wearing fireproof flying outfits.

Two years ago a former US Navy sailor came forward to say that the cause of the silver-suited being was in fact a US military personal wearing their standard fireproof uniform and the UFOs were new Harrier jets being flown.

The MoD has not commented.

Back in 1991, UFO researcher Leonard Stringfield published his then-latest of many reports on crashed UFOs. I had read all of Stringfield’s earlier reports, booklets and books, but this one stood out for me. The reason being that it referenced the alleged crash of a UFO, in 1964. The location was an area of woodland and fields near the Staffordshire, England market-town of Penkridge. It’s a town only a short drive from where I grew up as a kid. At the time, however, I was down in the south of England, in Harlow, Essex. But, I made a note to look into the affair next time I was back in the Staffordshire area.

As for Stringfield’s story, it was an intriguing one. Unfortunately, and as was the case with so many of Stringfield’s informants, the name of the person who provided the story was not listed. Or, rather, it was, but in the form of a pseudonym: “S.M. Brannigan.” According to the story, back in early 1964 “Brannigan” was serving in the US military aboard “…a specially rigged LST, a flagship that was attached to a naval amphibious force at an unspecified point in either the Caribbean or the Atlantic…”

Stringfield’s source informed him that it was his job to intercept and translate Soviet military transmissions. One such transmission – of early 1964 – stood out. Reportedly, the US Navy monitored Soviet chatter concerning the tracking and spiraling to Earth of nothing less than a UFO. Supposedly, the malfunctioning UFO split into two segments: one coming down somewhere in Germany and the other in a wooded/field area near to Penkridge. There were rumors of “remains” and of “bodies” hastily and secretly recovered by UK and German forces.

Well, it was quite a story! But, it lacked a real name for “Brannigan.” And it also lacked solid data, back-up sources, and a specific date. Nevertheless, I have found myself faced with less material to work with – and on more than a few occasions, too. I looked into it for a while, but I could not find a single piece of data to support the story. Now, we move on to 1995. That was the year in which a woman with a deep interest in UFOs, Irene Bott, established the Staffordshire UFO Group. One year later, in September 1996, Irene had a first anniversary SUFOG conference in the area, at which I spoke.

During the booze-quaffing session after the gig, I told Irene about the 1964 affair and she found it all very interesting. To the extent that she made mention of it in the local (but now defunct) newspaper, The Chase Post (which covered the towns and villages in and around Staffordshire’s Cannock Chase). It was an article that led an elderly man named Harold South to contact Irene with a startling story. According to South, he was on-site shortly after the 1964 crash occurred and while hordes of British military personnel were racing around, closing roads through a particular part of the Cannock Chase, and loading a small, delta-shaped vehicle (or parts of it) aboard a large, transporter vehicle.

South also claimed he was later visited by local police, who, he believed, had seen him as he drove close to the makeshift cordon and tracked him down by the license-plate of his vehicle. He also said they confiscated his camera, which he eventually got back, minus the film – which allegedly showed shots of the crash-site. Well, that was quite as story, too! It was not until December 1996 that me and Irene were able to arrange to meet with South in person – which we did, at his small apartment in the town of Brownhills. We called him, around the end of November, to see if one particular date was suitable. It was. Then, on the morning of that particular date (December 11, 1996), we called him again, just to make sure a meet was still cool. Yes, it was.

Well, that was all good. Or, at least, we thought it was. When we got to South’s apartment, his entire demeanor had changed. He didn’t want to talk to us – at all. He was clearly a worried man. He did, at least, invite us in. If nothing else, that was something positive. We asked South what was wrong and, for a few moments, he hemmed and hawed. Finally, however, he told us about the reason for his sudden change of heart. According to South, in between us phoning him and arriving at his home he had received a phone call from the British Ministry of Defense, warning him not to talk to us!

Yes, you know what I’m going to say: that was quite a story too! I have heard a lot of similar such controversial claims over the years, many of which led nowhere. This one, however, was a bit different. We asked South if anyone had called since the MoD phoned. He replied, “No.” So, we asked if we could use his phone and dial 1471. It’s a UK service that allows the caller to obtain the number of the previous, incoming call. Providing, that is, it’s not withheld by the caller.

Sure enough there was a number. We dialed it as South looked on, not unlike someone awaiting a firing squad or castration without anaesthetic. Or both. Not only did we dial, but someone answered. It was a woman who was very cagey about identifying herself by name. We were, however, able to prove the number had taken us to an operator-service that was run by the military. It was responsible for channeling calls to and from military establishments in the West Midlands and Staffordshire regions of the UK. In other words, the call to South could have come from any number of military bases in the area. But, all we had was the operator-number that called South, rather than the originating source that was connected to South by the operator.

Needless to say, it didn’t take us anywhere. But something did. South added that as well as the Ministry of Defense warning him not to speak with us, rather oddly they gave him a number to call in the event that he “might want to speak with” them again. So, we asked for the number and dialed it. This one took us to an office of the Ministry of Defense Guard Service at Whittington Barracks, near the city of Lichfield.

The voice on the other end of the line was cordial (throughout the brief conversation the man at the other end genially called Irene “flower”), but careful about what he said. He gave up nothing at all and the conversation was soon ended. He clearly reacted when we phoned though, since he wanted to know how we had got an internal number at the Guards Service, rather than their main-line. Well, he told us nothing, so we did likewise and said our goodbyes. “Bye, flower,” he said to Irene.

Over the next couple of years, Irene got a few more snippets of data, which collectively suggested there may have been some truth to the story that originally surfaced via “S. M. Brannigan” and Leonard Stringfield, and which was later expanded on by Harold South. It’s an episode that I still occasionally think about, nineteen years after we met that worried old man. Of course, none of what happened on that freezing cold, winter’s morning in December 1996 confirms aliens crashed near Penkridge 51 years ago. All I can say for sure, is that we were able to 100 percent prove that on the day in question – when we were due to speak with him about his crashed UFO claims – Harold South had a call directed to his home from a military operator-based service, and he was given an internal number at the MoD Guard Service, in case he might “want to speak” with someone about his experience.

All of this begs a couple of questions: (A) why was it made so easy for me and Irene to find the military operator’s number via the 1471 service? And (B) why was South even given a number at Whittington Barracks at all? Irene and I wondered if we had a hidden whistle-blower somewhere in our midst. One who was feeding us a few snippets of data (in the form of odd but easily traceable phone calls), in an attempt to try and convince us of the validity of the 1964 crash. But, in a way that didn’t compromise his or her identity.

Admittedly, I have no firm opinion on what went down on that day in December 1996, except to say it was very strange, deeply memorable, and extremely intriguing. Beyond that? Nothing but a mass of questions that are unlikely to ever be answered.

Do UFO’s and Aliens Exist? 20 Reasons to be Skeptical

UFOs exist – that much we should all be willing to concede.

But let’s quickly clarify that UFOs are very likely not aliens from outer space.  They are simply objects that are flying and whose identification has eluded us for the time being.  Simply put, they are, as the name implies, unidentified flying objects.

If, one day, extraterrestrial intelligence were ever to be discovered (especially here on Earth), then it would require extraordinary and reliable evidence.  After all, one could argue that this would be the greatest discovery for humanity to finally answer the question… are we alone?

So, blurry pictures, shaky videos, and spooky anecdotes aside, here are 20 things to consider before coming to the conclusion that what you’re seeing or hearing about is actually a UFO piloted by an alien from outer space…

Lightning Sprites

Sprites are large electrical discharges that occur above thunderstorm clouds.  They can be in various shapes and are sometimes even preceded by a sprite halo, which is pancake-shaped (a-la-UFO).  Sprites are visible from the ground but have also been reported by pilots and seen from space.

Missile Tests 

Remember the viral video about the UFO spiral in Norway?  The military is constantly testing new technology, and sometimes we’re fortunate enough to witness their failures.  In this particular case, it was the Russian’s testing their Bulova missile.  When its rocket motor spun out of control, it created the spiral of white light near where the missile was launched from a submarine in the White Sea.

Cloud Formations   

Hole punch clouds (also known as fallstreak holes) are a rare type of spectacular cloud formation which looks like a hole was literally punched through the clouds.   They are formed when the water temperature in the clouds is below freezing but the water has not actually frozen yet.  When the conditions are right and ice crystals form (perhaps as a result of a jet flying through) it sets off a domino effect causing the water droplets around the crystals to evaporate.  This leaves a large (often circular or elliptical) hole in the clouds which can give the illusion of a UFO.  Another cloud type – lenticular clouds – are also commonly mistaken for flying saucers.

Weather Balloons

Weather balloons come in all shapes and sizes, and depending on the viewer’s vantage point, they can easily be misidentified as a UFO.  Even at night, they can be lit up by the sun on the day-side of the Earth, making the illusion of a UFO all the more convincing.

Venus (or Other Planets)

The planet Venus is very often mistaken for an airplane, satellite, or UFO.  It’s the second brightest object in the sky – only the moon is brighter – and sometimes is reported by people driving in cars that it’s a fast moving object, hovering 500 ft or so above the horizon.   Because Venus is close to the Sun, it never ventures far from the horizon – exactly where you’d expect to see a landing airplane… or apparently, a flying saucer.

Bonus fact:  Venus is so bright that it can even be seen during daylight – this is known as a daylight disc.  Because this is a rare and quite an unusual sight, it’s often reported as a UFO.

Illumination Flares  

Illumination flares dropped from planes can give the illusion of multiple bright objects moving in the sky in “formation”.  Perhaps one of the most famous examples occurred on March 13^th, 1997, when, starting at around 10PM, hundreds of not thousands of people in the Phoenix area witnessed a row of brilliant lights hovering in the sky, and then slowly falling.  As explained in the Wikipedia article on the Phoenix Lights:

• The U.S. Air Force explained the second event as slow-falling, long-burning LUU-2B/B illumination flares dropped by a flight of four A-10 Warthog aircraft on a training exercise at the Barry Goldwater Range at Luke Air Force Base. According to this explanation, the flares would have been visible in Phoenix and appeared to hover due to rising heat from the burning flares creating a “balloon” effect on their parachutes, which slowed the descent. The lights then appeared to wink out as they fell behind the Sierra Estrella, a mountain range to the southwest of Phoenix.
• A Maryland Air National Guard pilot, Lt. Col. Ed Jones, responding to a March 2007 media query, confirmed that he had flown one of the aircraft in the formation that dropped flares on the night in question. The squadron to which he belonged was in fact at Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona on a training exercise at the time and flew training sorties to the Barry Goldwater Range on the night in question, according to the Maryland Air National Guard. A history of the Maryland Air National Guard published in 2000 asserted that the squadron, the 104th Fighter Squadron, was responsible for the incident. The first reports that members of the Maryland Air National Guard were responsible for the incident were published in The Arizona Republic newspaper in July 1997.

Lanterns or other Light Decorations  

With the increased popularity of light decorations like Chinese lanterns, it’s no coincidence that UFO reports have also increased.  And there’s good reason – from a distance, Chinese lanterns look very strange – hovering brilliantly in the sky, slowly moving.  When there’s a group of lanterns at once, they tend to move in unison due to the wind giving the appearance of multiple flying objects in the sky.

Airplanes, Helicopters, Drones, Satellites, or the ISS

If an airplane is flying directly at you at night, its lights will appear very bright and may fluctuate in size.  At the same time, because its going towards you (rather than horizontally) it will look like it’s hovering in place.  Helicopters and drones can produce a similar effect (in fact, pranksters have attached very bright LEDs to quadrocopters to make it look like a UFO).

Satellites and the ISS can also move across the sky in an eerie fashion, and can appear especially bright depending on atmospheric conditions and their position relative to the Sun.

Military Experiments or Aircraft

The late 1940s and early 1950s were a great time for spotting UFOs and aliens in New Mexico, primarily because that’s where the Air Force was conducting some of its top-secret research. One such program was known as Project Mogul and involved floating microphone-carrying balloons to high altitudes in an attempt to pick up the sound waves generated by Soviet atomic bomb tests. The Air Force has since confirmed that a 1947 crash of one of those balloons created the debris that birthed the Roswell UFO Incident (more on that below).

On another occasion, residents of County Cowley, Kansas, thought a UFO had been captured and was being transported through town.  Much to the dismay of ufologists,  a spokesperson for Northrop Grumman (an aircraft manufacturer) revealed that the object was a covered wingless version of its X-47B craft being transported from California’s Edwards Air Force Base to Patuxent River, Maryland.  It was further explained that they shrink-wrapped the rest of the fuselage after taking the wings off the drone for the cross-country road trip.

The Face on Mars Is An Illusion

Was the discovery of a face on Mars an example of alien architecture?  No, but it’s a great example of pareidolia.

This phenomenon – detecting something clear and distinct from an apparently obscure stimulus – is called “pareidolia“. Carl Sagan hypothesized that, as a survival technique, human beings are “hard-wired” from birth to identify the human face. This allows people to use only minimal details to recognize faces from a distance and in poor visibility but can also lead them to interpret random images or patterns of light and shade as being faces.  If you look at modern high resolution images of the Face on Mars, it’s clearly just the shape of the natural landscape.

The Roswell Incident and Alien Autopsy Was a Hoax

In 1995, a grainy, black-and-white film surfaced that had supposedly been shot by the military shortly after the Roswell incident in 1947 (which we previously discussed was the crash from Project Mogul).  The video shows a post-mortem dissection of an alien body, and was touted as evidence of what some UFO buffs had claimed all along: that alien bodies had been recovered from the Roswell crash site by the U.S. government.

Soon after the alien autopsy footage was broadcast on Fox television, serious doubts were raised about its authenticity. Skeptics (and even many UFO researchers) branded the film a hoax, pointing out anachronisms and inconsistencies in the film. In 2006, the special effects artist who created the alien body shown in the video confessed that it was in fact an elaborate hoax.2

The Term “Flying Saucer” is the Result of Poor Reporting  

The familiar term “flying saucer” is actually the result of a reporter’s error. After interviewing Kenneth Arnold about his sighting, a reporter from the Eastern Oregonian newspaper reported that Arnold saw round, aerial objects (in fact he said they were “crescent shaped”). Arnold said that the objects “flew erratic, like a saucer if you skip it across the water”—not that what he saw resembled an actual saucer.

Yet that “saucer” interpretation stuck, prompting many eyewitnesses to repeat (and hoaxers to duplicate) Arnold’s nonexistent description. This strongly shows the role of suggestion in UFO sightings; as skeptic Marty Kottmeyer asks, “Why would extraterrestrials redesign their craft to conform to [the reporter’s] mistake?”  Also, one should ask, “Where were all the UFO sightings before the article was publicized by mass media?”

Alien Abductions Are a Product of Our Culture

In The Demon-Haunted World, astronomer Carl Sagan points out that the alien abduction experience is remarkably similar to tales of demon abduction common throughout history.

• “There is no spaceship in these stories. But most of the central elements of the alien abduction account are present, including sexually obsessive non-humans who live in the sky, walk through walls, communicate telepathically, and perform breeding experiments on the human species. Unless we believe that demons really exist, how can we understand so strange a belief system, embraced by the whole Western world (including those considered the wisest among us), reinforced by personal experience in every generation, and taught by Church and State? Is there any real alternative besides a shared delusion based on common brain wiring and chemistry?”

Alien Implants Aren’t From Aliens

It is claimed that aliens have implanted various objects in human abductees. Victims claim to have found small objects in their bodies and come to the conclusion they must have been abducted.  Some alien implants have even been recovered, and when they are tested, they are found to be indestructible or of materials not found on Earth.  Really?

Using the magic of science, we can test this.

Joe Nickell, a columnist for Skeptical Inquirer magazine, noted that, “Since 1994, alleged implants have been surgically recovered but they’ve become remarkably diverse: one looks like a shard of glass, another a triangular piece of metal, still another a carbon fiber, and so on. None was located in the brain or nasal cavity, instead being recovered from such extremities as toe, hand, shin, external ear, etc.; some were accompanied by scars while others were not. As physicians know, a foreign object can enter the body unnoticed, as during a fall, or while running barefoot in sand or grass—even as a splinter from a larger impacting object.” People find all sorts of weird things in their bodies, but so far none are of alien origin.

SETI is Actively Looking For UFOs

UFOs are usually observed by untrained people and almost never by professional or amateur astronomers who spend their lives staring up at the skies looking for extraterrestrial life.   They’re never captured in picture or video with high end optical equipment that can be properly analyzed in greater detail.  Isn’t that a bit odd?  Don’t you think that since SETI (whose sole mission is to find extraterrestrial life) would have found something, anything – anything! – that could confirm at least one of the many alleged UFO videos or pictures out there?

Also, one would think that with the increased availability of smart phones to take video and photos, you’d see many more high quality videos and photos of UFOs, but in fact, the videos are just as lousy – they’re  out-of-focus and just as shaky.

The Drake Equation   

The Drake Equation, developed by Frank Drake in 1961, is a tool to estimate the odds of finding intelligent life in the universe. The estimates for the variables are rife with debate, but as technology improves, the estimates for each of the variables become more accurate.

Plug in some numbers and try it out for yourself – the odds are still exceptionally low that intelligent alien life is even out there, let alone hovering in our backyard.

Just because “we don’t know” doesn’t make it a UFO

Now, since the majority of UFOs can be explained, what about the ones that can’t?  One must be careful to not fall into the trap of “just because we can’t explain it, therefore, aliens”.

Sure, there are some cases of UFOs that are legitimately unidentifiable – that is, we still don’t know what they are.  But the fact that some pilots or scientists claim that cannot think of an explanation is not proof that they have observed an extraterrestrial spacecraft.  It simply means they don’t know what they saw.

It seems reasonable to believe that the main reason we can’t explain some UFO sightings is because we simply do not have enough evidence.  If we had more evidence, these sightings could very likely be explained by conventional means.

I don’t know… therefore, aliens!

But you can’t prove what I saw was NOT a UFO!

Another common tactic of UFOlogists is to claim that the skeptic cannot prove that what was seen was not an alien craft. One is supposed to infer from this fact that the perception probably was of an alien craft. This kind of reasoning is known as the argumentum ad ignorantiam. A claim does not become true or reasonable if a contrary claim cannot be proved to be true. With arguments for UFOs there are two distinct moves here.

One is to claim that no logical explanation is possible because some scientist, pilot, Air Force Colonel, or Ph.D. cannot think of one.  This logical fallacy is known as the “Argument from Authority”.  If an authority says “it’s gotta be a UFO, then it’s gotta be a UFO”.  Not true.

The other is to point to the lack of contrary evidence: no counter-testimony of other eyewitnesses, no proof that there were not aliens or alien spacecraft. Here, too, there is a logical fallacy. The fact that someone can’t come up with an explanation for something is irrelevant to deciding whether the correct explanation should be couched in terms of aliens from outer space.

The choice is not either (A) we know this explanation is correct or (B) we must conclude that aliens have visited us.

The Bottom Line

Of the many paranormal ideas/mysteries/legends out there, UFOs and “intelligent aliens” are at least somewhat plausible – though unfortunately I think there is an reasonably high probability that the human race will never encounter intelligent beings from outer space.  But one can hope that one day, extraordinary evidence will presented and we will celebrate the proof that we are not alone in this universe…

I want to believe… and I will only believe once extraordinary evidence is presented to me…

Like many of us UFO/Truth researchers, Dr Greer has had his fair share of threats and is convinced that the ‘Men In Black’ are on to him and forever giving him a very tough time!  He confirmed that French Officials had summoned an alien craft in 2010 – this was also confirmed on radar as passing overhead at 120,000 miles per hour!

Dr Greer confirmed that:

• “Our group initiates contact with people of level 300 – a bit of a gap – but once people stop lying that gap can be closed, quickly. “The French MoD contacted us, for the same reason the MoD in the US did. They wanted to know how contact made.” Said Dr Greer.

He claimed that “men in black thugs” scared off mainstream US MoD officials, of which the French officials ignored these threats, which apparently led to nasty contact from aliens.

Dr Greer then made a call to arms to paranormal enthusiasts to try and make contact with aliens to get the authorities off his back.  He confirmed: “If we all do it they can’t keep tracks on us all.”

U.I.P SUMMARY – First things first us guys at U.I.P have an incredible amount of respect for Dr Greer and are hopefully lining him up for an interview in late October, live from his ranch in the states.  But, interestingly Dr Greer was recently accused of actually working for the CIA by an unnamed leading counter-conspiracist.

It was written in a recent post by Alien Embryo on Unexplained-mysteries.com, who wrote:

• “Steven Greer is not who he claims to be, he is working for the CIA. The CIA knows people want answers and wants this technology made public.”
• “The disclosure project is to slow people down, it was created to give people a false hope for “disclosure”. If we leave “disclosure” up to the disclosure project it will never happen.”

The newspaper that was running with this breaking news story, the Express.co.uk has actually put Dr Greer’s claims to the French MoD…..And Guess what? Yep they still have not given a response, which in itself confirms A LOT in U.I.P’s eyes!

Personally I see Dr Greer as a great leading figure in the search for the Truth about Planet Earths contact with the ET Beings and if anything we do not believe that he would ever work for the Government, if anything he could be working for the Alien Beings who are keeping a watchful eye on Planet Earth – and helping him PUSH for the TRUTH!

Some people even believe that the increase in UFO sightings around the world is caused by Dr Greer!?

Former Airman Abducted, Experimented On and Forced Into Life of Slavery on Secret Moon Base

A former U.S. Air Force radar tracking operator recalls her traumatic experience of being abducted multiple times, experimented on, and forced into slave labor on a secret moon base.

In 1980, an unexpected event changed Niara Terela Isley’s life forever. While traveling with some of her colleagues on a mission at the Tonopah Test Range, their aircraft encountered a glowing UFO that maintained course alongside them. Ground control instructed them to get a radar lock and intercept the flying saucer.

Upon landing, Isley and her colleagues were quickly taken into custody by one of the Air Force’s covert branches.

In a book she wrote, the former airman describes her ordeal. Over the course of several months, Isley was abducted about 8 to 10 times and taken to a secret moon base on the dark side of the Moon. The base was under the control of reptilian beings but operated by human personnel. Isley claims that like her, most of them were held there against their will.

• I was very poorly fed and worked hard during the day cycle, operating some kind of electronic equipment for excavation at times, and doing physical manual labor at others, such as lifting and stacking boxes.
• Worst of all, I was used for sex during what passed for night there, from man to man,” she wrote.

The pinnacle of this inhumane treatment was a long string of experiments designed to mentally wear her down and remove her free will. The medical procedures were performed by Gray extraterrestrials, which means that the conspiracy runs deep.

And so it went on and on for months until she was finally released. But Isley is convinced she wasn’t set free without first being subjected to a memory wipe.

In fact, she says that an acute absence of memories from that period tipped her off she might have been the victim of an abduction. For a period of three months in 1980, Isley had no memories although at the time she was working for the U.S. Air Force.

Unnerved by her missing time, she underwent hypnosis and recovered her suppressed memories. It seems like the memory wipe was unsuccessful.

Niara Terela Isley and many other abductees are convinced that most—if not all—abductions are actually performed or supported by military forces worldwide. A popular conspiracy theory calls these operations MILABs (Military Abductions) and hypothesizes they are way more common than you would think. Isley and her peers recommend hypnosis therapy to anyone who’s experienced long periods of missing time.

While Isley brings little evidence in support of her testimony (besides her testimony), she does bring up several interesting points.

The presence of a joint Reptilian-Gray-human secret base on our satellite is worrisome and the abduction phenomenon is alarming, to say the least. But the perspective of unwillingly carrying memories of being forced into slavery and routinely experimented on is something else—the seed of paranoia.

If Isley is true, we’re all living a lie.

Germans believe in aliens

It's not just sci-fi nerds: According to a representative survey, a lot of Germans can put their skepticism aside when it comes to creatures from outer space. Even scientists believe there could be extraterrestrial life.

Are we alone in the universe? More than half of the Germans polled in a recent survey don't think so. Market research institute YouGov asked 1,171 people whether they believed in extraterrestrials and 56 percent said yes.

More than 1,000 people asked is considered a representative number for Germany. YouGov researchers conducted the survey via an online questionnaire between September 18 and 22. Anna Schneider, senior consultant with the institute, said she was not surprised by the high number of believers.

"The reason for believing is a mix of hope and fear," Schneider told DW. "It's hard for humans to imagine that we are this special and singular in a universe whose end we don't even know, but it's also not easy to picture sharing the special status of intelligent life. So I expected an outcome of around fifty-fifty."

Life finds a way

Klaus Jäger says it's only "plausible" that we're not alone

The idea that aliens or extraterrestrials could exist is not just purported by a layman's majority; it's also subject to serious scientific research.

"The formation of life in the entire cosmos, in every niche it can find, is probably a completely natural process," Klaus Jäger, astronomer at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy , told DW. He pointed to the fact that simple forms of life survive even in the most barren conditions, like at the bottom of the deep sea. Why not on far-away planets?

Discoveries made by space missions support the idea that somewhere, extraterrestrials exist, according to Jäger.

"Scientific facts are pretty clearly pointing toward the existence of life outside of Earth," the astronomer and spokesman of theGerman Astronomical Society said. "Even in interstellar gas that floats around and among the stars in our milky way we've found organic material, which is the preliminary stage to life."

Aliens among us?

Jäger does not believe, however, that aliens are already among us, saying that finding another life-form is a possible scenario of the future.

Martin Schädler, webmaster of the German website and online community www.alien.de disagrees. He became interested in extraterrestrials roughly 20 years ago when he read a book about alien abductions and does not only believe that aliens exist, but that they have been to Earth, too.

"The universe is gigantic and it has existed for such a long time - why should we be the only living things in it?" Schädler asked. "And how likely is it really that aliens are not here on Earth, too? I believe that the universe is so big and so old that it's brimming with extraterrestrial life, that it's full of it. That no one would have made their way to us so far is very unlikely to me."

The tech-expert, who works on email encryption as a day job, told DW he thought that the high number of people who believe in aliens was partially due to the presence of astronomy in daily life. With media reporting on space-related discoveries and astronomy documentaries airing on TV, people become more aware of the sheer size of our universe, Schädler says.

From there, he believes, it's only a small step to wondering why we should be alone in it.

How Hollywood believers could be disappointed

Women seem to be doing more wondering - and doubting - than men. According to the YouGov survey, 61 percent of men, but only 51 percent of women believe in the existence of intelligent extraterrestrial life.

"Maybe the underlying reason is a difference in love of adventure - or the cinematic education," Anna Schneider from YouGov said. "I think Hollywood is partly responsible for this outcome."

If aliens ever do come to Earth, their spaceships hopefully won't wreak havoc like this one in "Independence Day"

Movies like "Alien" and "Star Wars" have an audience that is more male than female, so men could be more likely to believe in extraterrestrials, according to Schneider's theory. But astronomer Klaus Jäger emphasizes that life in space may not look like what film fans imagine it to be.

Instead of man-sized creatures arriving in impressive space ships, aliens could also be smaller - much smaller, the astronomer says. Perhaps single-cell organisms will be the first extraterrestrial life-forms to be discovered.

That would be much less exciting than meeting a friendly, talking alien like ET, but also more comfortable than discovering that we're sharing the universe with a highly intelligent hostile species à la "Independence Day," the Hollywood blockbuster in which vicious creatures from outer space try to eradicate humanity.

Un couple de Mirabel a tout récemment raconté les détails d’une soirée pour le moins troublante qu’il a dit avoir vécue le 10 juin 2010, à Sainte-Scholastique, en prenant part à un enregistrement organisé par l’Association québécoise d’ufologie.

Alors qu’ils revenaient du ciné-parc Saint-Eustache par la 148 vers 23 h, l’homme et la femme ont aperçu un étrange objet volant non identifié pourvu de lumières blanches voler à très basse altitude tout près de leur véhicule, à environ 150 mètres au-dessus d’eux.

Selon l’un des témoins, l’objet émettait une vibration et avait la grosseur d’une maison. «Ça ne se peut pas qu’un objet aussi gros soit aussi près d’un boisé. Si c’était un avion, il y aurait eu un écrasement.»

L’objet a été vu d’assez près (moins d’une centaine de mètres), confirmant qu’il ne s’agissait pas d’un appareil conventionnel.

En arrivant à la maison, ils s’en parlent. Ils se couchent vers minuit. Vers 1 h du matin, la femme se fait réveiller par les jappements de son chien, qui se trouve dans sa cage au sous-sol. L’animal aboie de manière hystérique, contrairement à sa nature plutôt calme. En ouvrant les yeux, la résidente aperçoit une lumière blanche éblouissante illuminant sa chambre à coucher. « C’est en revenant du Ciné-Parc St-Eustache en direction de Mirabel le 10 juin 2010 vers 23h00 qu’un couple observa un étrange objet oblong pourvu de lumières blanches qui survolait un champ à très basse altitude.

L’objet a été vu d’assez près (moins d’une centaine de mètres) pour confirmer qu’il ne s’agissait pas d’un appareil conventionnel. De retour à la maison, le couple, bien qu’encore ébranlé, se prépara à aller se coucher. Une fois au lit, la jeune femme aperçut une intense lueur blanche envahir leur chambre. Tandis qu’elle tenta, en vain, de réveiller son conjoint qui dort généralement d’un sommeil très léger, le chien jappait frénétiquement, d’une manière inhabituelle. Prise de peur, elle trouva refuge sous les couvertures et réalisa soudain qu’elle avait dormi toute la nuit, malgré la crainte qui l’habitait. 
Quelle était donc cet objet qui inonda de lumière leur chambre à coucher ?

Un ancien ingénieur de la RAF explique que le MI5 réalisait des faux crop circles

Un ancien ingénieur RAF déclare : « Le MI5 a payé des gens pour réaliser de faux crop circles pour discréditer la recherche ufologique. »

David Clayton, ancien ingénieur de la Royal Air Force, explique que MI5 payait des farceurs pour créer de faux crop circles afin de discréditer les observations authentiques d’ovnis et de Men in Black.

David Clayton est à présent un spécialiste des crop circles et mutilations de bétails.

M. Clayton met en évidence le fait que les crop circles, réalisés dans les années 1980, pourraient potentiellement être l’œuvre des « Aliens »étant donné que les plantes situées à l’intérieur du cercle n’étaient pas été écrasé par la force physique, mais plutôt par la chaleur.

M. Clayton admet que la plupart des crop circles, mis en évidence depuis les années 1990, sont des faux, mais que des vrais avaient été découverts et avérés.

Il affirme que les agences de renseignement britanniques ont été derrière la majeure partie des crop circles.

Il déclare : « Le MI5 payait les gens pour brouiller les pistes. »

Gary Hestletine, ufologue, ayant organisé l’événement à Holmfirth dans le West Yorkshire, pense qu’il existe une « politique délibérée » menée par les autorités dans le but minimiser ou discréditer toute activité inexplicable.

Il a également critiqué les médias traditionnels de ne pas vouloir regarder la vérité en face.

Il déclare : « La presse doit enlever ses œillères et sélectionner les meilleurs témoignages… »

Le média Express.co.uk   a contacté le MI5 pour les interroger au sujet des accusations de Clayton.

Ministry of Defence covering up infamous UFO sightings which made 14 children draw similar pictures, claims Tory peer

Tory peer calls on defence chiefs to come clean about what happened in the skies over an area known as the Broad Haven 

The Ministry of Defence has been accused of covering up a top secret investigation into one of Britain's most infamous spates of UFO sightings.

In the late 1970s, a number of mysterious objects were spotted above an area which became known as the Broad Haven Triangle, in Pembrokeshire.

One extraordinary incident occurred near a primary school , when 14 pupils saw a UFO landing and drew strikingly similar pictures of it.

Now a Tory peer has called on the MoD to come clean and tell the world what it knows about the bizarre events.

Lord Black of Brentwood said: "A number of recently released Ministry of Defence files leave little doubt that a small number of sightings of aerial phenomena - particularly by military personnel, pilots and air traffic controllers - remain unexplained and unidentified.

"There needs to be further examination of these issues in the hope of learning something new."

The peer has a long-standing interest in the subject of UFOs, but his interest in this old case was sparked by new research into the Broad Haven sightings.

Neil Spring, a novelist, investigated several of the cases during the research for his upcoming book The Watchers, digging up a document which suggests a secret UFO investigation was carried out in the area, without politicians knowing about it.

"I visited Broad Haven a sceptic, and came away convinced that some of the locals knew far more about the mysterious occurrences of 1977 than they are willing to reveal," he said.

The declassified document is a letter from the head of S4, a wing of the MoD, to the Provost & Security Service, which functions as a kind of internal police force within the RAF.

In this letter, an official expressed surprise that so many otherwise "level-headed" witnesses had reported UFO sightings to the press and suggested a "discreet enquiry" could be the best way to proceed.

"I have not even told the Minister I am consulting you," the defence chief wrote.

At the time the MoD had denied there was any unusual activity in the area.

Nick Pope, who worked as UFO investigator for the MOD, said: “This bombshell document shows how the MoD's UFO project asked the RAF Police to conduct a secret investigation into these mysterious events, while Parliament, the media and the public were being told the subject was of no defence significance."

"Defence ministers were cut out of the loop," he suggested.

The sightings in Broad Haven took place near a military base, leading some observers to suggest the crafts had actually been Harrier jump jets and the aliens were just men wearing fireproof flying outfits.
