Mummified Crocodiles Sacrificed to the Gods Uncovered in Egypt
While performing excavations at a site known as Qubbat al-Hawā in southern Egypt in 2019, archaeologists from the University of Jaén in Spain made a strange and startling discovery. They unearthed a tomb that contained the remains of 10 mummified crocodiles, which once swam the waters of the River Nile in large numbers during the time of the ancient Egyptian pharaohs.
Two of the Spanish archaeologists have joined forces with a pair of Belgian scientists to produce a full and complete analysis of the skeletons of these mummified crocodiles and their tombs, published in the journal PLOS One .
“More than 20 burial sites with crocodile mummies are known in Egypt, but to find 10 well-preserved crocodile mummies together in an undisturbed tomb is extraordinary,” explained study lead author Bea De Cupere, an archaeozoologist from the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences(RBINS), when discussing the mummified crocodiles. “Of most mummies collected by museums in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, often hatchlings, we don’t know exactly where they come from.”

Excavations of Rock-Cut Tombs Revealed Mummified Crocodiles
Qubbat al-Hawā is the site of an ancient Egyptian necropolis and is located on the western bank of the Nile opposite the historic city of Aswan. Its collection of over 100 tombs features the resting places of many aristocrats and priests, mostly from the age of the Old and Middle Kingdoms (2,700 to 1,800 BC).
The small, rock-cut tomb of the crocodiles, which contained five skeletons and five crocodile skulls, was located right next to six tombs that held the bodies of many local dignitaries, signifying the importance of this unique ritual burial. While the necropolis at Qubbat al-Hawā was still in use as late as the Roman period, the Belgian researchers have confirmed that the crocodiles were entombed sometime during the pre-Ptolemaic era, or before 304 BC.

Sacrifices to Sobek, the Crocodile-Headed God
In ancient Egypt, crocodiles were used in rituals dedicated to Sobek, the god of water, fertility and pharaonic power and influence. In addition to his role in helping Egypt’s pharaohs achieve and preserve political and military strength, Sobek was also said to protect the people from the dangers associated with the Nile.
These would have included rapid and massive flooding, exposure to waterborne diseases, and attacks by ferocious creatures including venomous snakes, hippopotami, and crocodiles - the same crocodiles that were used in rituals meant to appease the mighty Sobek, who was usually portrayed with a man’s body but a crocodile’s head.
The skeletal remains found in the tomb belonged to two different species: the West African crocodile and the iconic Nile crocodile , both of which proliferated in the Nile region thousands of years ago.
The crocodile five bodies ranged in size from six to 11 feet (1.8 to 3.5 meters) long, which is average size for a West African adult but on the small side for the Nile version (the latter can grow to twice the length of a West African type). Three of the five skeletons were virtually complete, but the other two had a lot of missing parts.

Rare Discovery of Intact Mummified Crocodiles at Qubbat al-Hawā
“The crocodiles were first buried elsewhere, possibly in sand pits,” De Cupere said. “This allowed the crocodiles to dry out naturally. Then the remains were unearthed, wrapped and moved to the tomb in Qubbat al-Hawā. Body parts must have been lost during wrapping and transport.”
One of the intact mummified crocodiles was so perfectly preserved that the archaeologists found stones known as gastroliths still present it its intestines. These are small rocks that reptiles will sometimes swallow to help them digest food, or in the case of crocodiles to help them maintain their balance while immersed in water. The presence of gastroliths helped confirm that the crocodiles were not cut open and cleaned out after their deaths, but were mummified in a more natural state.
There were no signs of physical injury on the skeletal remains of the mummified crocodiles. Ancient Egyptians captured the dangerous creatures by ensnaring them with nets, and the researchers speculate the crocodiles buried in the tomb were either drowned, suffocated or baked in the hot sun to ensure they were dead before been sent off to the afterworld.
The unfortunate creatures were being offered to Sobek as sacrifices, with the proper rituals being carried out beforehand to make sure the sacrifices would be accepted and would bring favor to the Egyptian people.

Sometimes, an Unwrapped Mummy is Better than a Wrapped One
The skeletal remains of the mummified crocodiles were no longer wrapped. But samples taken from the tomb contained microscopic traces of linen, palm leaves and rope, showing that the bodies and skulls had been mummified at the time of burial. The archaeologists determined they’d been entombed more than 2,300 years ago, based on stratigraphic evidence and on the advanced decay of the bandaging and the lack of pitch or bitumen covering the crocodile skeletons (later burials featured these added preservatives).
“Although several hundred crocodile mummiesare available for study in museums worldwide, not many specimens have been subjected to detailed investigation,” the study authors noted in their PLOS One paper. “This is undoubtedly due to the fact that observations of these mummies are complicated by the bandages and because large amounts of resin orbitumen are often applied to the animal bodies.”
Because they could look at the skeletons of the animals directly, instead of being forced to rely on non-invasive imaging technologies (CT-scanning and radiographing) to peer through layers of bandages and resin, the archaeologists were able to examine the skeletons of the mummified crocodiles more thoroughly and completely than would normally be the case.
“I'm thrilled that finds like these give us another glimpse into the life of ancient Egyptians,” said De Cupere, in acknowledgement of the scientific and historical significance of this anomalous but highly revealing discovery.

A new way to Peer Into the Permanently Shadowed Craters on the Moon, Searching for Deposits of Water ice
Not all flashlights are created equal. Some are stronger, consume more power, or have features such as blinking or strobes. Some aren’t even meant for humans, such as a new project that recently received funding from a NASA Institute for Advanced Concepts (NIAC) Phase I award. Designed by the Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation (USNC), this flashlight doesn’t emit visible light, but it does emit x-rays and gamma rays, and the researchers on the project think it could be useful for finding resources on the Moon.
The key to this technology is a novel radioisotope that USNC developed that goes by the trade name EmberCore. It is a type of nuclear chargeable ceramic, similar to the radioisotopes contained in the radioisotope thermal generators used by Mars rovers such as Curiosity and Perseverance. So the radioisotope itself can be used as a power source for a rover, but it has a distinct advantage over other RTG cores.
When shielded a specific way, EmberCore emits X and Gamma rays that can be directed to a particular location, much like a flashlight. Effectively, the rover’s power source could also power a high-intensity scanning beam. According to the press release provided by the company in association with the announcement of their Phase I award, the beam could travel many kilometers on an airless world.

As with many remote sensing applications, that beam would then at least partially reflect back towards a sensor mounted on the rover and can be analyzed to detect the material it was reflecting off of. But, X-rays have an additional feature that anyone who has seen a medical one would be familiar with – they can see what’s underneath an object’s surface. Gamma rays can do so as well.
That added advantage makes having a controllable x-ray/gamma-ray remote sensing platform that also serves as the power source of the rover carrying is an exciting innovation and precisely the kind of research that NIAC usually goes for. The outcome of this preliminary research would be a mission design to one of two places on the Moon.
First would be Shackleton Crater, which has long been thought to hold large amounts of water. Accessing that water would be vital to supporting any long-term human effort to live on the Moon. A remote sensing platform that could scan the crater’s surroundings for the most significant deposits on and under the surface would be invaluable for directing astronauts where to look.
Water in craters on the Moon has been proven. Now we have to get there.
Another location would be the famous Sea of Tranquility (Mare Tranquillitatis), where Apollo 11 first touched down on the Moon. It has plenty of exposed rock strata that could provide insights into the geological formation of the Moon. However, they are only accessible by dangerous terrain that would be difficult for any rover to traverse. Hitting them with an EmberCore flashlight would allow a rover to observe them remotely without making the tricky trek to get to them.
NIAC Phase I grants are a first step down a long road towards being used on a space mission. But USNC, which is based in Seattle and headed by a former Chief Scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory, and its EmberCore technology are starting down that road with this concept, and it’s not the first one they’re doing. They were also funded by the US Military’s Defense Innovation Unit to research a nuclear propulsion engine for spacecraft, also based on the EmberCore engine. There might be plenty of more use cases for this novel innovation in space exploration in the future.

Het grootste vliegtuig ter wereld heeft een negende geslaagde testvlucht achter de rug. Voor het eerst bleef de Roc zes uur in de lucht en reikte de route verder dan de Mojavewoestijn (in het zuiden van Californië en Nevada; nvdr). Alles lijkt op koers om via deze mastodont uiteindelijk hypersonische raketten en toestellen te lanceren.

De Roc heeft een spanwijdte van 117,3 meter, dat is breder dan een voetbalveld. Onder die gigantische vleugels zijn twee vliegtuigen parallel naast elkaar gemonteerd, waardoor het gevaarte lijkt op een catamaran.
Het grootste deel van de carrosserie is van carbon. Het tuig wordt aangedreven door zes motoren van een Boeing 747. Ook de cockpit van het luchtschip - die zich in één van de twee cabines bevindt - is gerecycleerd uit oude Boeing 747's. In het dashboard zitten zelfs nog analoge controle- en besturingsdisplays. Kortom: het is niet de NASA die dit toestel heeft ontworpen, het zijn echte ‘space cowboys’.
Medeoprichter Microsoft
Het ruimtevaartbedrijf StratoLaunch was een project van Paul Allen, de medeoprichter van Microsoft die zijn hele leven bezeten was van ruimtevaart. Zo bezeten dat hij er in 1981 - toen hij en Bill Gates volop het besturingssysteem voor de eerste IBM-computer aan het ontwikkelen waren - zomaar een tijdje tussenuit kneep om in Florida de lancering van de eerste Space Shuttle bij te wonen. Gates kon er niet mee lachen.
Jaren later leerde Allen een revolutionaire vliegtuigbouwer kennen. Bert Rutan, een Elvis-fan met grote bakkebaarden die de vreemdste toestellen ontwierp en ook de lucht in kreeg. De Roc was een idee van Rutan, het geld kwam van Allen. Allen heeft de eerste vlucht helaas niet mogen meemaken, hij overleed ruim vier jaar geleden.
Grote droom dichterbij
De Roc kan tien kilometer hoog vliegen en daar een raket droppen die zichzelf vervolgens het heelal in schiet. Het is in principe een eenvoudigere en ook goedkopere manier om ruimtetuigen te lanceren, maar de concurrentie met SpaceX (Elon Musk) en Blue Origin (Jeff Bezos) is uiteraard niet min.
Toch komt de grote droom steeds dichterbij. Voor de tweede keer werd nu een proeflancering van een onbemand hypersonisch onderzoeksvliegtuig getest. In de eerste helft van dit jaar nog zou een echte lancering moeten plaatsvinden.

Here’s the report of the UFO sighting that seen at around 8:02pm by a group of friends who were catching up next to their home in Thohoyandou.
According to the witness, the object initially appeared to be a very bright star, but as it got closer, it became longer and longer in size. The UFO had several bright straight lights and a ring or halo on its sides. One of the most striking things about the sighting was that no sound was heard coming from the object and it didn’t point in the direction it was going. Instead, it pointed slightly to the right but continued moving straight. The witness also opened her phone to check which satellite it was using the Skyview app and it showed nothing.
As the UFO passed overhead, the witnesses were unable to identify it as anything they had seen before. It was not something that could have been produced by human technology. The object disappeared quickly, becoming dim and then disappearing entirely, possibly at unimaginable speeds.
The UFO sightings were captured on video by the witnesseses and shared on social media, where it quickly gained attention. Other people also reported seeing the UFO in the same locations, adding to the intrigue surrounding the event.

The Varginha UFO incident is considered one of the most well-known and controversial cases in Brazilian ufology. It all began on 20th January 1996, when three young women, sisters Liliane and Valquíria Fátima Silva, and their friend Kátia Andrade Xavier, reported seeing a strange creature while they were out on a walk in a park in Varginha, Brazil.
They described the creature as being around 1.6 meters tall, with a large head and very thin body, with V-shaped feet, brown skin, and large red eyes. They said that the creature seemed to be unsteady or wobbling, and they assumed it was injured or sick. The Silva sisters reported that they were so frightened by the creature that they ran away and told their mother that they had seen the “devil”.
Their mother didn’t believe them at first, but when she went to the area where they had seen the creature, she reportedly smelled a strong ammonia-like odor and found nothing but footprints and a dog sniffing the place. This further added to the mystery of the incident and rumors began to spread throughout the city regarding UFO sightings and alien creatures being abducted by the military forces.
Two days later, another creature was allegedly found lying along a road, and three military trucks were reportedly sent to retrieve it. A similar sighting was reported at the local zoo by its janitor. In the following months, three animals at the zoo mysteriously died. Ufologist Roger Leir wrote a book, “UFO Crash in Brazil,” that included interviews from people who claimed two creatures were taken to a clinic before being removed by military personnel.
According to Eurico de Freitas and Oralina, they saw a UFO hovering over their farm. After going to investigate what was disturbing their cattle, she saw the object hovering over their field for around 40 minutes.
An official investigation carried out by the Brazilian military in 2010 revealed that the Silva sisters actually came across a mentally unstable homeless man named Muddinho.
Military officials presented photos of Mudinho, who they believed was a mentally unstable man with a mental disability. They also believed that the three women might have mistaken him for a space creature due to his physical characteristics.
An officer Lieutenant Colonel Lúcio Carlos Finholdt Pereira leading the investigation noted that the military vehicles were operating normally that night.
He also noted that the presence of military vehicles and firefighters in the area was not a coincidence. The officers explained that the activities of the military and firefighters that night were actually real.
The incident has sparked numerous theories and speculations, with many people convinced that the Brazilian government is hiding the truth about the capture of extraterrestrial beings. Despite the official explanation, the incident remains a subject of debate and interest among UFO enthusiasts and researchers. But then there are discoveries that do not simply cause speechlessness for a moment. Distant Hydrogen
An international team of researchers have detected radio signals originating from an extremely distant galaxy, using the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope in India.
The discovery marks the first time we've ever been able to detect these kinds of signals, believed to have been produced by atomic hydrogen in a star-forming galaxy, over such an immense distance — 8.8 billion years to travel to Earth, to be precise.
It's especially noteworthy as atomic hydrogen is the basic fuel that drives the formation of stars, meaning that the research could help us understand how stars form in galaxies billions of light-years away.

The astronomers took advantage of gravitational lensing, the phenomenon in which a massive body located between the source and the observer, such as a galaxy, bends light being emitted by distant source.
"A galaxy emits different kinds of radio signals," said Arnab Chakraborty, post-doc researcher at McGill University, and lead author of a new study published in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, in a statement. "Until now, it’s only been possible to capture this particular signal from a galaxy nearby, limiting our knowledge to those galaxies closer to Earth."
"But thanks to the help of a naturally occurring phenomenon called gravitational lensing, we can capture a faint signal from a record-breaking distance," Chakraborty said.
"This will help us understand the composition of galaxies at much greater distances from Earth," he added.
The researchers hope that their results could lead to new ways of studying distant galaxies with existing low-frequency radio telescopes, which could be key to unlocking the mysteries of how the cosmos evolved over the life of the universe.

On January 16, 1957 – the day after the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP’s) Board of Governors met for the first time – Board Chairman Delmer S. Fahrney called a press conference. News media all over the country quoted his statements identifying him as one of the few “top brass” to speak out in defense of UFOs.
We absolutely know that many high ranking Navy officers were interested in the phenomenon. Roscoe Hillenkoetter himself joined NICAP and was willing to speak very publicly and to congress about the goodness of what NICAP was doing and that UFOs seemed to be a real but non-terrestrial mystery. He was far from alone.
Office of Naval Research chief Admiral Calvin Bolster apparently believed the same, although Keyhoe and Fahrney were never able to get him to come out publicly with a statement. Several other Navy officers were NICAP members and Keyhoe occasionally got “leaks” from Navy people who obviously disliked USAF policy.
There were many in the Navy sympathetic to research on the phenomenon and impatient with their rival service. One of these “conversations” which resulted in a massive “leak” was reported by Keyhoe in his 1960 book.
In “FLYING SAUCERS: Top Secret,” Keyhoe described a meeting with two naval officers which had been arranged “by an old classmate [from the Naval Academy] of mine”. The meeting was in 1958, just after Dick Hall arrived at NICAP, and Keyhoe discussed the content of it with Dick. Using aliases, he described a meeting with a Navy Captain and a Commander in their office and quite “private.” The officers danced about to begin with asking Keyhoe all manner of probing questions–as it turned out they were trying to get him to betray confidential sources of information to see if he could be trusted not to breach such confidentialities. Keyhoe passed the test, though not until wondering for a moment if these guys were setting him up for something. [Because of his good friend who had arranged this, he didn’t think that it could possibly be such a set-up and was patient].
Ultimately the officers were convinced and began telling him of “hidden” cases from naval personnel. Keyhoe was told that they had been keeping a “log” of these things. They were keeping it [on naval sightings only] “with the Admiral’s consent.” So, who was the “Admiral”? Normally that would mean THE Admiral, Chief of Naval Operations, Arleigh A. Burke. It appears the Chief of Staff of the Navy was interested in someone keeping track of UFOs? We can assume like the Air Force their personnel were tracking UFOs. My contacts claim UFOs were often seen and tracked underwater moving at high speeds at over a hundred knots. They were also seen departing and entering the water. Thanks to NICAP
Commander Graham Bethune VIP Pilot
A friend of mine Commander Bethune a pilot for Navy VIPs often flew Admiral Fahrney to Wright Patterson Air Force Base where he claimed some alien craft were kept.
Commander Graham Bethune the pilot for the Navy Brass had his own sighting of a huge UFO over the Atlantic and claims he flew Admirals to various crash sites and became friendly with Admiral Fahrney and frequently flew him to Wright Patterson AFB to consult with Air Force personnel concerning UFOs.
Graham told me he had flown the Secretary of the Navy Kimball, and was what you would call a VIP Plane Commander in the Flag Division, which flew most of the high-ranking officers and civilians out of Washington, D.C. Several of these officials told him what they had also seen UFOs. For example, there were two craft flying together out in the Pacific. And a bright disc came up beside one of them and stayed with them for a while and flew around them. He often flew Admiral Fahrney and other officers to Wright Patterson Air Force Base for meetings with Air Force personnel regarding extraterrestrials. Commander Bethune stated, “I parked our plane on the flight line near a corrugated metal hanger where Admiral Fahrney indicated a UFO was parked.” Every time my boss and I would go by there he couldn’t understand why I was not interested in going in and looking at what was behind the metal wall back there. And he told me basically that they had a craft (UFO) back there. And he told me they also had ET bodies there in caskets with Plexiglas you could see through. Fahrney told Bethune, “The policy of secrecy was a big mistake. The Navy became primary researchers for the government while the Air Force took most the heat from the news media.”
From discussions that he had had with Admiral Forney he learned he was convinced that craft from other planets were visiting us.

They frequently met an Air Force Colonel Harold Watson who later was promoted to Major General. He was the Commander of Foreign Technology Division and personally recovered numerous advanced Nazi aircraft at the close of World War II. He let them look at Nazi and ET files. Colonel Watson worked closely with Admiral Fahrney and showed him what they had there including the advanced Nazi aircraft, ET craft and bodies, Fahrney couldn’t understand why Commander Bethune wasn’t interested in seeing them. Interestingly later, Bethune became quite interested in UFOs and was unhappy he didn’t take advantage of the offers. Recently, UFO hunters made two seemingly unrelated discoveries that immediately got added to the portfolio evidencing the signs of a strange alien or ancient presence on our planet. Scientists speculate that 10,000 years ago the massive ice sheets were melting creating an ocean surrounded by ice. A giant wall of ice suddenly broke perhaps caused by a meteor and the water poured into the Atlantic suddenly raising the ocean by some 30 feet. The controversial images were obtained through Google Maps, revealing two enormous underwater structures that conventional science cannot explain. The face of the Earth is shaped by processes like erosion and accretion and what was once standing tall might now rest covered by the watery abyss. And since our planet is mostly covered with water, just imagine what things still lay unseen, hidden from our curious, collective gaze.
Possible Underwater Gulf of California , Mexico Base
The first underwater edifice was spotted on July 15 by YouTube user MEXICOGEEK just off the coast of the Gulf of California and conspiracy theorists are already calling the remains of a massive alien city. Measuring over 70 miles in length, the strange structure looks like it was constructed with geometric patterns in mind. Its symmetry and straight lines stretching for tens of miles seem to rule out any natural formation, favoring the intelligently designed hypothesis.
UFO Sightings Daily’s Scott C. Waring believes this alien base is connected to all the UFO sightings coming out of Mexico and the entire Central and South America. “This base is huge and it’s no wonder why we hear about so many UFO sightings over Mexico,” he writes. “This base is just 45 miles away from the Mexican coast. The chances of this being an intelligently made structure… I put that at 100 percent.”
It’s interesting to note the similarity between the structure’s arrangement and that of an airport’s landing strips when viewed from above. However, the sheer size of the tubular structures that make up the underwater network means they must have served a different purpose. It is unfortunate that we might never know what that purpose was, but unless the scientific community decides to investigate the matter in a thorough, transparent way, we’ll remain clueless. North of the coast of Venezuela,
The second place of interest can be found north of the coast of Venezuela, halfway between Curacao and Puerto Rico (Coordinates here). It has an even stranger, more discrepant architecture consisting of zigzag lines and an f in the center. In terms of size, it is just as massive as the one from the Gulf of California, measuring approximately 90 miles from tip to tip. But the strangest characteristic has to be its shape. What geological processes could have produced such an odd contour, exhibiting symmetry, straight lines and 90-degree angles? Is it even reasonable to comfortably assume this underwater structure is natural?

The enigma of USOs or unidentified submerged objects likely indicate that UFOs and USOs are the same craft, which have been spotted entering or exiting aquatic environments. The bottom of the ocean or lakes is an ideal place to build bases since UFOs are capable of traversing cosmic distances surviving the pressure of the oceanic depths seems an easy task.

So if Earth’s seas and oceans are harboring otherworldly visitors, or an underwater civilization could these anomalies be still operational? If so, they could be responsible for the numerous UFO sightings reported on or around the American continents. These places would make a great starting point in our search for alien life here on Earth. Even if they were operational a long time ago and have since been deserted, compelling evidence could still be found.
If the structures are artificial but were not made by aliens, the mystery shifts but retains its intensity. Our current technological level wouldn’t allow us to build such complex underwater constructions, meaning that whoever built them was far more advanced than we are. Both of the areas where the anomalies were discovered have been submerged for millions of years and the dynamics of the seabed would have erased all signs of their existence had they been built before the area was covered with water. In the end, no-one can say for sure what these structures are and, until someone goes on an underwater expedition James Cameron style, the puzzle will remain unanswered.

This document links the Office of Naval Intelligence to association with the study of the UFO phenomenon and was not strictly an Air Force operation. Recent reports by UFO researchers suggest there is an ongoing Navy effort to destroy any evidence linking the Navy to the UFO phenomenon. UFO researchers report UFO sightings are being edited out of ship’s logs, which confirms a considerable naval sensitivity to the phenomenon and naval archives in Seacaus, New Jersey appear to have been purposely sabotaged. Race to the Pole
They reached Antarctica in January, a few weeks later than planned. The early months of the expedition were spent laying depots and taking smaller scientific expeditions. Roald Amundsen‘s Norwegian Expedition was camped not far off, and Scott’s group felt the pressure to be the first to reach the South Pole.
Scott’s path to the South Pole took a different route than Amundsen’s, as seen in the map above. Their speed is about 1300 mph , to 2,000 mph. When dragons fly, there is a plasma like discharge that looks like wings on a dragon fly. My guess is that they are using highly advance super-conductors that can tolerate extreme high volts. The army and police often chase these UAP / dragons to the jetty rocks in Marina del Rey. In the past week alone, three different sunspots have produced the largest X-flares, and even more are crackling with M-class flares. With the heavy activity of the sun given at the beginning of this year is part of solar cycle 25 reaching its maximum?
I think it is more likely to be the first half of 2024. The two hemispheres are much closer to in phase this time compared to the last cycle, and it will be interesting to see if we get a single peak roughly halfway between the two peaks of the last cycle. Also, if the hemispheres’ last cycle had been in phase, then the peak would have been 140 instead of 116. Judging by the latitude of the polar crown filaments, we’re not there yet for at least another 1-2 years. Solar flares bouncing a slight energy have caused computer and power problems on Earth. While Earth’s magnetic field prevents widespread death from solar radiation, a direct hit of Earth from the Sun Flare could cause massive problems. The sheer electromagnetic power of a flare could disrupt power grids, internet connections, and other communication devices and computers on Earth, resulting in chaos and potentially even death.

“This composite includes 110 solar images captured in 2021 and 159 in 2022,” says Leon. “Nearly all days with major sunspots are present. Although this is not a scientific controlled study, variables such as cloudy days and holiday interruptions tend to even out in the large number of observations. The disparity between the two years agrees well with developing Solar Cycle 25.” Recent airline delays may have been caused by computer problem related to a solar flare.

Hey check this out. Here is a sighting recorded in Netherlands two days ago and a dark object was seen in the sky leaving a contrail-like cloud behind it. The sky was overcast and easy for it to hide, but it still stood out well. From the looks of it, it appears to be the size of city bus and yet, its just sitting there, as if waiting for something. I wish we had more footage of this. It looks like it came from an underground base, made its way to apoint where it will sit, but I have a feeling it pointed areas each had a single ball of light that lights up when it powers up for shooting away. Seen such things before in other reports. Fantastic capture.

In September 2018, a group of friends in Tomball, Texas were astounded by mysterious lights in the sky. Three teardrop-shaped glowing objects appeared to be hovering in a deliberate, coordinated motion. Nick Daily, one of the friends who witnessed the event, stated that they would circle around in formation and then come back to a triangle formation, describing the experience as “incredible”. He also stated that, as an ex-military member, he had never seen anything like it.
According to author and journalist Alexis Brooks, this is far from the first time mysterious lights have been spotted in Texas. In April 2022, similar lights were seen in the town of Kyle, Texas. These lights had an orange glow and local officials were unable to provide an explanation.
The lights in Tomball have also been described as “phasing”, where the craft change their atomic structure so that they appear to be dematerializing and rematerializing. This has led some to speculate that the lights were UFOs.
To get to the bottom of the incident, video forensic expert Michael Primeau and aviation expert Tim McMillan were consulted. Primeau determined that the footage appeared to be authentic and that no known file signatures were identified. McMillan stated that the movements of the lights were not consistent with fixed-wing aircraft and that they were too close to be conventional aircraft.
Astronomer and video effects editor Marc D’Antonio was also consulted. While he could not provide a definitive explanation for the lights, he did note that the incident in Tomball was alone reported UFO sighting in Texas. In fact, one of the first reported UFO incidents in Texas was on April 17, 1897, when a UFO crashed on a farm near Aurora, Texas, with claims of an alien pilot found dead inside.
The question remains: were the lights in Tomball proof of a UFO or just a mystery the size of the Lone Star State? The experts can only provide their analysis of the footage, but it is up to the viewer to come to their own conclusion.

On August 24, 1990, a group of UFO researchers set out on a journey from Xanten to Usedom to investigate a mysterious incident involving unidentified flying objects (UFOs) in Greifswald. The incident had occurred a few weeks prior and had generated a lot of buzz in the local community, with many people claiming to have seen strange lights in the sky. The researchers were determined to get to the bottom of the mystery and find out what had really happened.
The first stop on their journey was Ahlbeck, a small town on the island of Usedom. This is where one of the most well-known witnesses of the incident, Jens Hollard, lived. Hollard had been sitting in a beer garden with his girlfriend on the night of the incident and had seen something that he couldn’t explain. The researchers met with Hollard and listened intently as he recounted his experience.
“I was sitting here with my girlfriend, enjoying a beer and the nice weather, when I saw something strange in the sky,” said Hollard. “At first, I thought it was an airplane, but it was moving in ways that I had never seen before. It was moving up and down, and it seemed to change shape. I’ve never seen anything like it before.”
Hollard went on to describe how the object had appeared to be made up of several smaller lights that were all moving together in unison. He said that it was difficult to tell how far away the object was, but it seemed to be moving very quickly. He also mentioned that he had heard no sound coming from the object.
The researchers asked Hollard if he had any idea what the object could have been. He shook his head and said, “I have no idea. I’m not a UFO fanatic or anything like that, but this is definitely something that I’ve never seen before. It’s definitely not a normal aircraft.”
The researchers thanked Hollard for his time and set out to interview other witnesses. The next stop was the town of Greifswald, where they met with Kettmann, another witness of the incident. Kettmann had been in the town square on the night of the incident and had seen a chain of bright lights in the sky.
“It was amazing,” said Kettmann. “The whole square was full of people looking up at the sky. The lights were just hanging there, not moving. They were like glowing orbs. I’ve never seen anything like it before.”
Kettmann went on to say that the lights had been visible for several hours, which he found to be unusual. He said that military flares typically only last for a few minutes, but these lights had been visible for much longer. He also mentioned that he had heard no sound coming from the lights.
The researchers thanked Kettmann for his time and set out to investigate further. They spoke with several other witnesses and examined the area where the lights had been seen. They also searched for any possible physical evidence, such as debris or burn marks on the ground. However, they were unable to find any concrete evidence that could explain the incident.
Despite the lack of concrete evidence, the researchers were convinced that something strange and unexplained had occurred in Greifswald on August 24, 1990. The accounts of the witnesses were too consistent and detailed to be dismissed as mere hoaxes or hallucinations. The researchers continued to investigate the incident, hoping to find definitive proof of intelligent life from other worlds.
The Greifswald UFO incident remains a mystery to this day. Despite the lack of a clear explanation, the Greifswald UFO incident remains one of the most intriguing and well-documented UFO sightings in recent history. The launch vehicle is undergoing development at the Starbase facility located in Boca Chica Beach, Texas. Starship is composed of two stages, a spacecraft that is propelled to orbit by a Super Heavy rocket powered by 33 methane-fueled Raptor V2 engines. Impressively, when fully stacked, it is 390-feet-high which is taller than the U.S. Statue of Liberty. Starship is destined to become the world’s most powerful fully-reusable rocket.
According to Musk, SpaceX aims to build “about five full stacks” this year, translating to five flightworthy Starships and five Super Heavy boosters.
In 2022, SpaceX finished Booster 7 and built Booster 8, Booster 9, and most of the Booster 10. Booster 8 was almost immediately relegated to the retirement yard. Booster 9, featuring some significant design changes, completed a limited amount of proof testing and returned to the factory in early January – likely for Raptor engine installation. The fate of Booster 10 is unclear, but it stands as a prime example of how fast SpaceX can actually build massive Starship hardware when conditions are right. When you look at Triton and beyond, it doesn’t look like any of the other known systems. It is among some known Satellites which have many geysers, erupting liquid nitrogen five miles in the sky. The atmosphere is also freezing, with temperatures ranging from -235 to -210 degrees Celsius. Triton is one of the most strong moons in our Solar System. Neptune’s Satellites are dominated mainly by its moon to such an extent that it almost kicked some of Neptune’s moon out of their orbit.
Neptune has 14 known Satellites, the most massive of which is Triton. Neptune's Triton is the seventh-largest moon in the Solar System and the only large moon in the Solar System with a retrograde orbit. It was discovered in 1846 by British astronomer William Lassell, who named it after the Greek god of the sea, Triton. It is also Neptune’s first moon to be discovered. With a surface temperature of only 38 Kelvin, the satellite is one of the coldest objects in the Solar System, only second to Uranus. It is an exciting and mysterious world, and its exploration will yield many interesting discoveries. Scientists and publishing specialists are concerned that the increasing sophistication of chatbots could undermine research integrity and accuracy.

An artificial-intelligence (AI) chatbot can write such convincing fake research-paper abstracts that scientists are often unable to spot them, according to a preprint posted on the bioRxiv server in late December1. Researchers are divided over the implications for science.
“I am very worried,” says Sandra Wachter, who studies technology and regulation at the University of Oxford, UK, and was not involved in the research. “If we’re now in a situation where the experts are not able to determine what’s true or not, we lose the middleman that we desperately need to guide us through complicated topics,” she adds.
The chatbot, ChatGPT, creates realistic and intelligent-sounding text in response to user prompts. It is a ‘large language model’, a system based on neural networks that learn to perform a task by digesting huge amounts of existing human-generated text. Software company OpenAI, based in San Francisco, California, released the tool on 30 November, and it is free to use.
Since its release, researchers have been grappling with the ethical issues surrounding its use, because much of its output can be difficult to distinguish from human-written text. Scientists have published a preprint2 and an editorial3 written by ChatGPT. Now, a group led by Catherine Gao at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, has used ChatGPT to generate artificial research-paper abstracts to test whether scientists can spot them.
The researchers asked the chatbot to write 50 medical-research abstracts based on a selection published in JAMA, The New England Journal of Medicine, The BMJ, The Lancet and Nature Medicine. They then compared these with the original abstracts by running them through a plagiarism detector and an AI-output detector, and they asked a group of medical researchers to spot the fabricated abstracts.
Under the radar
The ChatGPT-generated abstracts sailed through the plagiarism checker: the median originality score was 100%, which indicates that no plagiarism was detected. The AI-output detector spotted 66% the generated abstracts. But the human reviewers didn't do much better: they correctly identified only 68% of the generated abstracts and 86% of the genuine abstracts. They incorrectly identified 32% of the generated abstracts as being real and 14% of the genuine abstracts as being generated.
“ChatGPT writes believable scientific abstracts,” say Gao and colleagues in the preprint. “The boundaries of ethical and acceptable use of large language models to help scientific writing remain to be determined.”
Wachter says that, if scientists can’t determine whether research is true, there could be “dire consequences”. As well as being problematic for researchers, who could be pulled down flawed routes of investigation, because the research they are reading has been fabricated, there are “implications for society at large because scientific research plays such a huge role in our society”. For example, it could mean that research-informed policy decisions are incorrect, she adds.
But Arvind Narayanan, a computer scientist at Princeton University in New Jersey, says: “It is unlikely that any serious scientist will use ChatGPT to generate abstracts.” He adds that whether generated abstracts can be detected is “irrelevant”. “The question is whether the tool can generate an abstract that is accurate and compelling. It can’t, and so the upside of using ChatGPT is minuscule, and the downside is significant,” he says.
Irene Solaiman, who researches the social impact of AI at Hugging Face, an AI company with headquarters in New York and Paris, has fears about any reliance on large language models for scientific thinking. “These models are trained on past information and social and scientific progress can often come from thinking, or being open to thinking, differently from the past,” she adds.
The authors suggest that those evaluating scientific communications, such as research papers and conference proceedings, should put policies in place to stamp out the use of AI-generated texts. If institutions choose to allow use of the technology in certain cases, they should establish clear rules around disclosure. Earlier this month, the Fortieth International Conference on Machine Learning, a large AI conference that will be held in Honolulu, Hawaii, in July, announced that it has banned papers written by ChatGPT and other AI language tools.
Solaiman adds that in fields where fake information can endanger people’s safety, such as medicine, journals may have to take a more rigorous approach to verifying information as accurate.
Narayanan says that the solutions to these issues should not focus on the chatbot itself, “but rather the perverse incentives that lead to this behaviour, such as universities conducting hiring and promotion reviews by counting papers with no regard to their quality or impact”.

A rapidly firing laser can divert lightning strikes, scientists have shown for the first time in real-world experiments1. The work suggests that laser beams could be used as lightning rods to protect infrastructure, although perhaps not any time soon.
“The achievement is impressive given that the scientific community has been working hard along this objective for more than 20 years,” says Stelios Tzortzakis, a laser physicist at the University of Crete, Greece, who was not involved in the research. “If it’s useful or not, only time can say.”
Metal lightning rods are commonly used to divert lightning strikes and safely dissipate their charge. But the rods’ size is limited, meaning that so, too, is the area they protect.
Physicists have wondered whether lasers could enhance protection, because they can reach higher into the sky than a physical structure and can point in any direction. But despite successful laboratory demonstrations, researchers have never before succeeded in field campaigns, says Tzortzakis.
Bolt from the blue
To change that, a group of roughly 25 researchers set up the Laser Lightning Rod project, which trialled a specially created €2 million (US$2 million) high-power laser in the Swiss Alps. The scientists placed the laser next to the Säntis telecommunications tower, which is hit frequently by lightning. “This is one of those projects that everyone was waiting for the results of,” says Valentina Shumakova, a laser physicist at the University of Vienna.
A sufficiently intense laser beam can create a conductive path for lightning to travel down, just as a metal wire can. Physicists think that it does this by shifting the properties of air so that the beam focuses into a thin, intense filament. This rapidly heats the air, reducing its density and creating a favourable path for lightning. “It’s like drilling a hole through the air with the laser,” says Aurélien Houard, a physicist at the Laboratory of Applied Optics in Paris, who led the project.
Rather than try to divert lightning from the tower, the Säntis experiments were designed to show that the laser could guide a strike’s path through the structure’s lightning rod. In future use, similar beams would guide strikes away from sensitive installations and onto a distant lightning rod, says Houard.
Guided lightning
Over 10 weeks of observation, the team spotted the laser channelling 4 lightning events during 6 hours of thunderstorms. A high-speed camera clearly showed one strike following the straight line of the laser beam, rather than taking a branching path.
“For 100% of the strikes where the laser was present, we measured an effect of the laser,” says Houard. But Tzortzakis notes that the laser was also active for many hours without channelling strikes. This suggests that although the laser diverted lightning, it did not force thunderclouds to discharge, which would be a better protection strategy, he says.
The latest effort succeeded where others had failed, says Tzortzakis, because previous attempt had used a laser that fired just a few pulses per second. This team used a specialist laser that fires 1,000 high-energy pulses per second, which would have boosted its chance of intercepting the lightning.
However, the fact that the project’s laser is one of a kind is also its biggest limitation, because it will take time to shrink the system and make it cheaper and more practical, says Houard.

You’re Looking at a Map of the Milky Way’s Magnetic Field
Using telescopes that study the sky in the microwave part of the electromagnetic spectrum, astronomers have successfully mapped the structure of the magnetic field of the Milky Way galaxy. While magnetic fields are difficult to measure in space, an international team of astronomers used the Teide Observatory on Tenerife in the Canary Islands to conduct 10 years of observations.

The team’s collaboration, called QUIJOTE (Q-U-I JOint TEnerife) used two 2.5 m diameter telescopes, to observe the sky in the microwave part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Learning more about our galaxy’s magnetic field can provide information about star formation, cosmic rays, and many other astrophysical processes.
The team said their work complements data gathered by previous space missions dedicated to the study of the cosmic microwave background radiation (CMB), the fossil radiation left behind by the Big Bang, which gave a detailed insight into the early history of the cosmos.
“These new maps give a detailed description in a new frequency range, from 10 to 40 GHz, complementing those from space missions such as Planck and WMAP,” said José Alberto Rubiño, lead scientist of the QUIJOTE Collaboration, in a press release. “We have characterized the synchrotron emission from our Galaxy with unprecedented accuracy. This radiation is the result of the emission by charged particles moving at velocities close to that of light within the Galactic magnetic field. These maps, the result of almost 9,000 hours of observation, are a unique tool for studying magnetism in the universe.”

The work on this mapping project started in 2012, and the team has now published a series of 6 scientific papers that provide the most accurate description to date of the polarization of the emission of the Milky Way at microwave wavelengths. Polarization is a “property of transverse waves such as light waves that specifies the direction of the oscillations of the waves and signifies the presence of a magnetic field,” the team explained.
With the new maps, astronomers not only have more detailed information about the structure of the Milky Way’s magnetic field, but their findings also is helping to understand the energetic processes which took place close to the birth of the Universe.

“Scientific evidence suggests that the Universe went through a phase of rapid expansion, called inflation, a fraction of a second after the Big Bang,” said Rubiño. “If this is correct, we would expect to find some observable consequences when we study the polarization of the cosmic microwave background. Measuring those expected features is difficult, because they are small in amplitude, but also because they are less bright than the polarized emission from our own galaxy. However, if we finally measure them, we will have indirect information of the physical conditions in the very early stages of our Universe, when the energy scales were much higher than those that we can access or study from the ground. This has enormous implications for our understanding of fundamental physics.”
The new maps from QUIJOTE have also provided new data for studying a recently detected excess of microwave emission from the center of our Galaxy. The origin of this emission is currently unknown, but it could be connected to the decay processes of dark matter particles.
Additionally, the data from the QUIJOTE collaboration allows scientists to study over 700 sources of emission in radio and microwaves, of both Galactic and extragalactic origin, meaning that the data is helping scientists to decipher signals coming from beyond our galaxy, including the cosmic microwave background radiation.
“One of the most interesting results we have found is that the polarized synchrotron emission from our Galaxy is much more variable than had been thought” said Elena de la Hoz, a researcher at the Instituto de Física de Cantabria (IFCA). “The results we have obtained are a reference to help future experiments make reliable detections of the CMB signal.

Team van Belgische geologe vindt ruim 500 meteorieten op Antarctica, pronkstuk weegt bijna 8 kilo
Een wetenschappelijk team onder leiding van een Belgische geologe heeft in enkele weken tijd meer dan 500 meteorieten gevonden op Antarctica. Een exemplaar van 7,6 kilogram vormt het paradepaardje. Normaal gezien weegt zo’n stukje ruimtepuin tussen de 50 en 100 gram.
Als een meteoriet op Belgische bodem valt, is het per definitie zoeken naar een speld in een hooiberg. Op het witte oppervlak van Antarctica wordt zo’n expeditie echter plots kinderspel. Vandaar dat er nu al verschillende jaren door wetenschappelijke teams een ‘meteorietenjacht’ gehouden wordt.
De Belgische geologe Vinciane Debaille - verbonden aan de ULB - is niet aan haar proefstuk toe. Samen met haar medewerkers kamde ze al enkele keren een ijsvlakte op honderd kilometer van de Prinses Elisabethbasis uit. Nu was het uitkijken naar een nieuw gebied waar de schatten voor het oprapen zouden liggen.
“Prachtige kers op de taart”
“Er zijn plaatsen op Antarctica waar de beweging van het ijs en erosie zorgen voor een hogere concentratie aan meteorieten”, legt Debaille uit. Op basis van satellietbeelden en GPS-coördinaten werd vooraf bepaald waar de hoogste slaagkansen lagen. Het team kon daarbij ook gebruikmaken van de ervaring van Alain Hubert. De poolreiziger kent de regio goed en stippelde het beste traject uit.
Debaille en co kampeerden bij -10°C, legden tientallen kilometers af over sastrugis (door de wind verharde sneeuwduinen; nvdr) en leefden op het geluid van sneeuwscooters. “In het laatste uur van onze expeditie vonden we die meteoriet van 7,6 kilo. Een prachtige kers op de taart”, jubelt Debaille.
“Het object is afkomstig van de asteroïdengordel en plofte waarschijnlijk enkele tienduizenden jaren geleden neer in het Antarctische blauwe ijs”, vult VUB-onderzoeker Ryoga Maeda aan. Volgens hem gaat het om een ‘gewone chondriet’, de meteoriet bevat veel metaal.
18 kilogram
De verzamelde meteorieten moeten nu onder gecontroleerde omstandigheden in het laboratorium van het Koninklijk Belgisch Instituut voor Natuurwetenschappen ontdooien. “Daarna worden ze geanalyseerd op hun chemische samenstelling en worden ze ter beschikking gesteld van de wetenschappelijke gemeenschap voor verder onderzoek”, aldus Maeda.
In 2012 vonden landgenoten al eens een meteoriet van 18 kilogram. Die kolos staat nu tentoongesteld in het Museum voor Natuurwetenschappen in Brussel. Meteorieten geven een dieper inzicht op het ontstaan en de ontwikkeling van ons zonnestelsel.

Newly Released US Government UFO Report Reveals Details
According to a report released by the Pentagon, the number of UFO sightings has increased significantly over the past couple of years. Many of these incidents can be attributed to weather phenomena or drones. However, around half of these sightings remain unexplained. The agency that monitors these sightings noted that further analysis is necessary.
According to CNN’s Kristen Fisher, the report revealed that the number of sightings of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs) has increased significantly. In 2021, the DNI was not able to explain 144 incidents. This time around, the agency noted that there were over 300 new UAP sightings.
One of the most interesting findings of the report is that some of the UAPs exhibited unusual flight capabilities. It’s not clear if these are the results of advanced technology or foreign agents such as Russia or China. The US government has not officially stated its theory regarding the cause of these incidents.
The report provided a total of 163 explanations as to how these objects came into being. Most of these incidents were attributed to balloon-like structures or other similar objects. Some were also said to be caused by airborne clutter, such as debris and weather phenomena.
Members of Congress stated that the report sheds light on the various factors that contributed to the growing number of UAPs sightings, and it shows that the government is taking the issue seriously. However, they noted that the DNI and the Pentagon still need to provide more concrete answers regarding the nature of these objects.
