Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

Aliens: bestaan ze nu echt en zullen ze ooit naar onze aarde afzakken? Volgens een nieuwe studie is het antwoord op die laatste vraag alvast teleurstellend. Het onderzoek belicht de ‘Fermi-paradox’. Die stelt dat buitenaardse wezens gezien de leeftijd van het heelal hoogstwaarschijnlijk al langeafstandsruimtevaart hebben ontwikkeld en onze aarde dus al lang bezocht zouden moeten hebben. Maar waarom kiezen ze er dan toch voor om weg te blijven? “We zijn op aarde gewoon niet interessant genoeg”, luidt het onderzoek.
In de studie, die gepubliceerd werd op het wetenschappelijke platform ‘arXiv’, beweren onderzoekers dat buitenaardse wezens enkel geïnteresseerd zijn in de meest technologisch geavanceerde planeten. Onze aarde hoort daar jammer genoeg niet bij. De mensheid mag dan wel biologisch ver geëvolueerd zijn, onze technologie staat daarentegen nog niet op punt, benadrukt Amri Wandel, hoofdonderzoeker en astrofysicus aan de Hebreeuwse Universiteit van Jeruzalem.
“Aliens hebben onze signalen nog niet ontvangen”
Wij sturen op aarde nog maar sinds de jaren 30 signalen in de vorm van radiogolven uit die vanuit de ruimte kunnen worden opgevangen. Buitenaardse wezens hebben dus nog niet de kans gehad om de boodschappen te ontvangen, laat staan om erop te reageren. De signalen hebben tot nu toe naar schatting 15.000 sterren en hun omringende planeten bereikt, maar dat is slechts een fractie van de 400 miljard sterren in de Melkweg. Alleen sterren binnen een straal van 50 lichtjaar (één lichtjaar is ongeveer 9,5 biljoen kilometer, red.) hebben met andere woorden al de tijd gehad om een signaal terug te sturen, legt Wandel uit.
De studie suggereert dus dat er zich binnen 50 lichtjaar van onze planeet geen intelligente beschavingen bevinden. Maar verder in de ruimte kan dat uiteraard wel het geval zijn, klinkt het.
Bovendien werden de allereerste radiosignalen niet doelbewust de kosmos ingestuurd, waardoor ze allemaal door elkaar zouden zijn gelopen zodra ze de ruimte bereikten. Daarom konden aliens ze niet van elkaar onderscheiden. Pas in 1974 werd vanuit Puerto Rico bewust geprobeerd om in contact te komen met buitenaards leven. Met de Arecibo-telescoop werd toen de allereerste doelbewuste menselijke boodschap naar – hypothetische – aliens uitgezonden.
Nieuwe boodschap
Een groep internationale wetenschappers vindt dat het stilaan tijd is voor een nieuwe boodschap en heeft om die reden het ‘Beacon in the Galaxy’ (BITG)-project opgestart. De experten hebben reeds een boodschap voorgesteld die als doel heeft om een universeel middel voor de communicatie met buitenaardse wezens tot stand te brengen. De radioboodschap zal onder meer een diagram van het mannelijke en vrouwelijke lichaam bevatten.
Hoe meer signalen onze aarde uitstuurt, hoe groter de kans uiteraard is dat aliens er uiteindelijk naar zullen luisteren, besluit Wandel.

Ancient “Hieroglyphs” Discovered In Ukrainian Caves
A Ukrainian explorer followed his grandmother's clues and discovered a lost cave system in the middle of Kyiv. Professors are “amazed” that such a treasure was hidden in plain sight for thousands of years.
The cave system is located at Voznesenskyi Descent in Kyiv, Ukraine. Dmytro Perov, a conservationist at the Center for Urban Development in Kyiv reported on Radio Kultura that the caves were found beside a dismantled house that Kyiv housing authorities had deemed as unsafe for inhabitation.
A report in Suspline says that in August this year Perov learned that the Kyiv City Council were drawing up plans to develop this area. His attention was drawn to a particular house address: Voznesenskyi Uzviz, 25, in which his great-great-grandmother Daria Volosova used to live at the beginning of the 20th century, at which time it was a three-story family manor.
A report in Rubryka says Perov’s Grandmother used to speak about a big stone house next to an ancient cave, but no one knew where it was located. Perov told Radio Kultura that he had examined the area several times in the past and that only the front facia of the house remained, hidden in bushes.
The conservationist told reporters that he decided to team up with his friends to go to the old house “on a small expedition to look for caves” and they identified an entrance. Last Saturday, Perov and a team of researchers from the Institute of Archaeology conducted the first archaeological explorations in the Voznesensky Caves. And having spent 3 hours inspecting the cave, Timur Bobrovskyi, a professor of archaeology at the Sofia Kyivska reserve said he was “amazed that such a treasure was found in the center of Kyiv”.

Perov says the team explored two of the four caves, because the other two are full of silt that needs to be cleared out prior to any exploration. In the northern part of the cave the team identified fragments of pottery from the Late Kyivan Rus’ era, which was a state in Eastern and Northern Europe from the late 9th to the mid-13th century.
Perov wrote on Facebook that the team scoured around 40 meters (131 ft) of caves including the lower cave complex, which he said is twice as long as the upper passage and it has a series of “radial branches.” However, the most significant discovery was, in Petrov’s words: “a set of Kyivan Rus hieroglyphs and Varangian symbols from the Early Rus period” when the region was under the control of Varangian rulers.
Dmytro Perov said that while more research is needed to confirm it, they suspect some of the carved symbols might date all the way back to the 5th to 6th centuries BC. He says “ animistic images of animals and graffiti” from the Varyaz period were also found on the walls including the rune Algiz ("chicken's foot"). This was an ancient Varangian charm, a symbol of protection and long life.
Between the 7th–6th centuries BC several Hellenic Greek colonies were founded on the northern coast of the Black Sea on the Crimean Peninsula and along the Sea of Azov. After a period of control by the Roman empire, during the 1st millennium BC, the steppe hinterland was occupied by the Cimmerians, Scythians, and Sarmatians who traded with the Greek/Roman colonies.
Viking Bloodlines And Trade Routes
The Kyivan state was founded by the Varangian, or Viking, Prince Rurik in the late 9th century. His descendants developed and controlled an international trade route to the west until the 13th century. According to Britannia the Kyivan state comprised East Slavic, Norse, and Finnic peoples, so it will perhaps be impossible to identify who left the carved symbols on the cave walls.
For several months the Kyiv City Council has been planning to transfer the land plot to a private developer. However, Perov said that until more data is gathered from the caves the issue of transfer of the plot for development has been removed from the agenda of the Kyiv City State Administration.

Zonder water ga je dood. Dat geldt voor vrijwel alle levensvormen op aarde, maar – dankzij een gaaf en voor beerdiertjes uniek eiwit – niet voor deze minuscule meercelligen.
Beerdiertjes zijn opzienbarende wezentjes; de amper 0,5 millimeter lange diertjes zijn tijdens ruimtereizen bestand gebleken tegen vacuüm en kosmische straling. En toen onderzoekers ze recent in een speciaal geweer stopten om ze af te vuren,konden de beerdiertjes dat ook gewoon navertellen. Ook extreme hitte en kou, een gebrek aan zuurstof of kiemdodende ultraviolette lampen doen de beerdiertjes weinig. Net als een langdurig tekort aan water; onderzoek heeft reeds uitgewezen dat beerdiertjes decennialang zonder water kunnen overleven.
Raadselachtig Dat laatste is – net als veel van het voorgaande trouwens – tamelijk raadselachtig. Want op watergebrek volgt uitdroging en dat vinden levende cellen niet zo prettig; wanneer ze uitdrogen, verliezen ze hun vorm en storten uiteindelijk compleet ineen. Ze functioneren dan niet meer (goed) en kunnen uiteindelijk afsterven. En dat heeft vanzelfsprekend weer dramatische gevolgen voor het organisme waar ze deel van uitmaken.
Maar uitdrogende beerdiertjes hebben dus geen last van in elkaar zakkende en afstervende cellen. “Hoewel water essentieel is voor al het leven dat we kennen, kunnen sommige beerdiertjes mogelijk decennialang zonder water leven,” stelt onderzoeker Takekazu Kunieda.
CAHS-eiwitten Kunieda en collega’s hebben nu achterhaald hoe de kleine beerdiertjes dat precies doen. En een heldenrol is daarbij weggelegd voor zogenoemde CAHS-eiwitten. “De truc zit ‘m in hoe hun cellen omgaan met de stress die het proces van uitdroging met zich meebrengt,” legt Kunieda uit. “Aangenomen wordt dat wanneer water een cel verlaat, er een soort eiwit moet zijn dat voorkomt dat de cel ineenklapt. Na het testen van verschillende eiwitten, hebben we ontdekt dat cytoplasmic-abundant heat soluble (CAHS) eiwitten – die alleen beerdiertjes bezitten – verantwoordelijk zijn voor het beschermen van de cel tegen uitdroging.”
Hoe werkt het? Deze CAHS-eiwitten zitten dus in de cellen van het beerdiertje. En zodra ze ‘merken’ dat de cel die hen omringt, uitdroogt, komen ze in actie. De eiwitten vormen dan een netwerk van gelachtige filamenten die de uitdrogende cel als het ware stutten en er zo voor zorgen dat deze zijn vorm behoudt. Dat is een omkeerbaar proces. Want zodra de cellen van het beerdiertje weer vocht tot hun beschikking hebben, trekken de gelachtige filamenten zich langzaam weer terug.
Mensen Het is een ingenieuze oplossing. En grappig genoeg werken deze eiwitten – waar dus alleen beerdiertjes over beschikken – ook in cellen van andere organismen. De onderzoekers trekken die conclusie nadat ze de eiwitten in het laboratorium toepasten in uitdrogende cellen van insecten en mensen. Tot hun verbazing zagen ze dat de eiwitten ook hier in actie kwamen en stuttende filamenten vormden.
Hier zie je hoe CAHS-eiwitten filamenten vormen in een uitdrogende menselijke cel.
Als het aan de onderzoekers ligt, is hun studie de opmaat naar meer. Zo hopen ze dat deze er uiteindelijk toe leidt dat wetenschappers – geïnspireerd door de beerdiertjes – nieuwe manieren gaan vinden om bijvoorbeeld celmaterialen en biomoleculen droog op te slaan. Zo kan de houdbaarheid van materialen die veel in het laboratorium gebruikt worden, maar bijvoorbeeld ook van medicijnen en misschien zelfs van complete organen (bestemd voor transplantatie) in de toekomst wellicht worden opgerekt.
Daarnaast zijn er nog veel meer eiwitten die de wetenschappers graag onder de loep zouden nemen om het beerdiertje en zijn opmerkelijke eigenschappen nader te doorgronden. Uiteindelijk hopen Kunieda en collega’s zelfs meer dan 300 eiwitten van het beerdiertje te onderzoeken en zo verscheidene andere ‘superkrachten’ van het mysterieuze meercellige organisme te ontrafelen en waar mogelijk natuurlijk vervolgens ook in andere settings toe te passen.

A strange sky phenomenon what is referred to as a "Second Sun" has been filmed again. This time, on 30 December 2022 a second sun has been seen in the sky above Dubai.

The "second sun" phenomenon is real, and is certainly not a lens flare, camera artifact or optical illusion. There is no doubt that NASA and all other space organizations are aware of this second sun, which is mostly invisible, but they continue to cover it up.
Is the ‘second sun’ an artificially created sun? NASA has an ‘artificial sun’ patent since the 1950’s. According to NASA it is just used for testing equipment and running simulations like optical reflection, space environment simulation, sunlight, reflectors and virtual properties. The 1960’s NASA sun simulator, nickname ‘Star’ was for an environment test chamber right here on earth, to simulate the sun found in space.
Much research has been done into this phenomenon and the link is often made to the infamous Planet X, Planet Nine or even to Marduk's star Nibiru.

On December 2, 2022, a UFO was spotted approaching an Airbus A380 as it descended towards the runway at the Sao Paulo International Airport in Brazil. The unidentified flying object, which does not appear to be a drone, was captured on video by the airport’s cameras.
UFO approached the massive passenger aircraft as it was preparing to land, causing the video camera to shake. It is unclear what the UFO was attempting to do or whether it posed any threat to the safety of the A380 and its passengers.
This incident has caused a stir among UFO enthusiasts and skeptics alike, with many speculating about the nature and intentions of the mysterious object. Some have even suggested that the shaking of the camera may have been caused by the UFO itself, potentially demonstrating advanced technology beyond our current understanding.
It is worth noting that UFO sightings around airports are not uncommon, and many can be explained by natural or man-made phenomena. The rise of UFOs has been the subject of much speculation and excitement in recent years. Reports of UFO sightings by commercial and military pilots around the world caught the attention of the public. While the public has been fascinated by these strange occurrences, the lack of definitive answers has led to the development of various conspiracy theories.
According to Ryan Graves, a former US Navy fighter pilot and Chair of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) UAP Integration & Outreach Committee (UAPIOC), a scientific approach is needed to solve the mystery of UFO phenomena. He believes that the stigma surrounding this issue should be lifted in order to make progress in addressing it.
Ryan responds to an Op-Ed by Wall Street Journal columnist, Holman Jenkins, where he claims that the government is secretly developing a laser program that could be used to launch extraterrestrials. He also criticizes his claims about the supposed conspiracy and how they further discourages scientists and pilots from coming forward with information about UAP.
“I know firsthand that the fear of this stigma is a major issue because I was the first active-duty pilot to come forward publicly about regular sightings of UAP, and it was not easy,” Ryan writes. “I have seen mysterious targets on radar myself and have spoken with pilots who have experienced near misses with mysterious objects off the Eastern Seaboard, which prompted unsafe evasive actions and mandatory safety reports. I spoke out about these incidents publicly in 2019—at great risk both to me personally, and to my profession—because nothing was being done.“
It was not easy for Ryan to come forward and share his experiences with UAP, as he knew that other pilots would be reluctant to do the same. The fear of being ridiculed and ostracized is understandable, as this is the reaction to every reported sighting of strange objects in the sky. However, this stigma has persisted up to this point, and people who come forward with these types of reports often end up being labeled as crazy or hallucinating.
It is very important that the public does not attempt to undermine the testimony of experienced pilots who have reported experiencing UAP. According to Ryan, disregarding the issue or making unsubstantiated claims without any evidence is not acceptable. He also believes that doing so could threaten the safety of the country’s aviation industry.
In an unclassified assessment released to the US Congress on June 25, 2021, the ODNI stated that UAP poses a threat to national security and has the potential to affect the safety of flight. Most of the incidents that have been reported to the agency have been explained by man-made or natural phenomena. However, there are a small number that have not been explained.
Ryan and the members of the UAPIOC are focused on these cases due to the potential impact they could have on national security and aerospace safety. Happily, we won’t have to wait long for the next monster launch as SpaceX is ready to launch its Falcon Heavy to Orbit this month!

Falcon Heavy, first publicly announced in 2011, had been a dream for so long of space fans. SpaceX and Elon Musk poured a lot of sweat and tears into it. It is as tall as a 20-story building, consisting of three cylindrical rocket boosters strapped side-by-side, with a total of 27 engines. Firing together, these engines burn liquid oxygen and highly-refined kerosene to provide more than 2,500 tons of force, lifting the vehicle and its cargo off the ground and into space.
The rocket is, in appearance and design, akin to three of SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket boosters strapped together. This was indeed the basic inspiration for the rocket, but the concept turned to be harder than the company’s engineers had initially anticipated.
“This thing is a lot more complicated—as Elon also admitted, it’s not just screwing two more vehicles onto the Falcon 9 and going from there,” veteran aerospace engineer James French shared.
“The loads change, aerodynamics totally change, you’ve tripled the vibration and the acoustics. The amount of load you are putting through that center core is crazy…we had to redesign the whole center core airframe, it’s not like the Falcon 9 because it couldn’t take so much load. Separation systems ended up being, really, way more difficult than we thought. We were pretty naive about that.”
The company abandoned complicated techniques, like cycling fuel between the three core boosters during flight for increased efficiency. But the rocket is still a big innovation for one key reason: It will attempt to recover those three booster cores by flying two back to landing pads at Cape Canaveral and the third onto an autonomous ship. While the company has recovered numerous single-booster rockets using this technique, flying back three at once will an impressive accomplishment.
That’s assuming, of course, the rocket makes it far enough into the mission to worry about recovery.
“Put really big things in orbit, or take smaller things to a very high energy stage which makes them able to reach the outer planets,” French says. Falcon heavy is able to carry more than 63 metric tons to low-earth orbit a few hundred miles above the planet, or more than 16 metric tons to Mars. Het is niet zo dat een groot windpark op zee klimaatverandering veroorzaakt. Het effect op het weer is plaatselijk, maar kan de lucht tot wel 200 meter hoogte beïnvloeden. Als de omstandigheden gunstig zijn, kunnen windmolenparken tot 150 kilometer verderop zorgen voor een afname van de windkracht.
Luchtlagen mixen De draaiende rotorbladen van een windturbine zetten de bewegingsenergie van de wind om in elektriciteit. Achter een windpark is er zodoende minder wind. Door het mixen van luchtlagen en de turbulentie die hierbij komt kijken, mengen vocht en warmte in de lucht beter. Dat kan – zeker bij de stabiele atmosfeer in het voorjaar en de vroege zomer, wanneer de zee kouder is dan de lucht erboven – zorgen voor aanzienlijke zogeffecten in de windschaduw van het windpark. De windturbines transporteren koudere en vochtigere lucht naar hogere luchtlagen, waardoor de kans op mist mogelijk afneemt en er meer kans is op laaghangende bewolking, al is er meer onderzoek nodig om deze weerseffecten met zekerheid te kunnen vaststellen.
Tien keer zoveel windparken in 2050 Op de hele Noordzee stond in 2020 ongeveer 19 gigawatt aan geïnstalleerd windturbinevermogen. In 2050 zal er naar verwachting tien keer zoveel windenergie worden opgewekt. Het geïnstalleerd vermogen is de hoeveelheid energie die windturbines kunnen produceren als ze altijd aan zouden staan en geen last zouden hebben van externe factoren. In werkelijkheid is de opbrengst lager, vanwege onder andere die zogeffecten, maar ook doordat windturbines soms stilstaan voor onderhoud.
Onderzoeker Peter Baas van de TU Delft (Whiffle) legt aan Scientias.nl uit hoe groot de zogeffecten kunnen zijn. “We onderzoeken met het WINS50-project het verschil tussen het geïnstalleerd vermogen en de werkelijke opbrengst van windturbines en windparken. De invloed van zogeffecten – dit is het effect waarbij de turbines van een windpark in elkaars windschaduw staan – hangt van veel factoren af. Zo spelen de afstand tussen de turbines, de hoeveelheid turbines in het park en het type windturbine allemaal een rol. Een recente studie met het atmosferische hogeresolutiemodel van Whiffle laat zien dat voor grote toekomstige windparken, waarbij het geïnstalleerd vermogen meerdere gigawatts bedraagt, de zogverliezen kunnen oplopen tot 15 procent of soms nog meer.”
Formatie op zee Een windpark is een obstakel waar de wind omheen en overheen wil. Het is dus interessant om te kijken wat de beste opstelling is voor een windpark en hoe windparken ten opzichte van elkaar kunnen worden geplaatst. “De formatie van de turbines in een windmolenpark speelt een belangrijke rol. Er wordt bij de aanleg van windparken dan ook uitgebreid naar gekeken om de opbrengst te optimaliseren. Zo kun je bij veel windparken zien dat de turbines in de richting van de meest voorkomende windrichting verder uit elkaar staan dan in de richting die daar loodrecht op staat”, zegt Baas.

Gebouwen in een stad kunnen ook effect hebben op de wind, maar dat is van een heel andere aard, legt de wetenschapper uit. “In een stad wordt de wind afgeremd door de gebouwen zelf. In een windpark wordt wind niet zozeer afgeremd door de turbines zelf maar door de energie die ze aan de wind onttrekken. Ook wordt de lucht direct beïnvloed tot hoogtes van 200 meter, terwijl in de meeste steden de gebouwen zich alleen laag bij de grond bevinden. Dus in een stad zit de afremming meest aan de grond, bij een windpark met name ter hoogte van de turbines. Zeker de toekomstige windparken zijn veel uitgestrekter qua oppervlakte dan een Nederlandse stad. Het effect van windparken op weer en wind is dus veel groter dan dat van een stad”, zegt Baas.
Negatief effect op opbrengst Het zal in de komende decennia steeds drukker worden in de Noordzee. Windparken zullen steeds vaker in elkaars schaduw staan. Het is daarom belangrijk om in te schatten hoeveel invloed dit soort effecten hebben op de opbrengst. Hoeveel groter zijn de zogeffecten in zo’n toekomstig scenario? “Ook dit is een van de vragen waar we in het WINS50-project aandacht aan besteden. Met het atmosfeermodel van Whiffle hebben we een pilotstudie uitgevoerd die laat zien dat omliggende windparken een significant negatief effect op de opbrengst van een windpark kunnen hebben”, aldus Baas.
Onderhoud en vogeltrek “Ook modelsimulaties die met het KNMI-weermodel zijn gedaan binnen het WINS50-project laten duidelijk zien dat zogeffecten van het ene park de wind bij een ander park kunnen beïnvloeden. We zien dat dit steeds belangrijker wordt omdat er zowel op de Noordzee als op andere locaties steeds grotere clusters van windparken ontstaan. Juist daar kunnen wij heel goed modelberekeningen op uitvoeren. Ook wordt bij de bouw van windparken rekening gehouden met trekroutes van vogels en vleermuizen. Windturbines staan niet alleen stil door onderhoud, maar moeten soms ook uitgezet worden vanwege de vogeltrek.”
Het verkleinen van opbrengstverlies, kan dan ook op allerlei manieren, legt Baas uit. “Ook oplossingen in de windturbine zelf spelen een rol. Zo kan ‘wake steering’, het sturen van de zogeffecten, mogelijk een positieve bijdrage leveren.” Hoeveel invloed dit allemaal heeft, is nog niet helemaal helder. “Er is nog veel onduidelijk als het gaat om de invloed van grootschalige uitbreiding van windparken op zee op de energieproductie en het weer. Binnen ons project proberen wij effecten in kaart te brengen en onzekerheden te verkleinen. Op die manier willen wij een bijdrage leveren aan de transitie naar hernieuwbare energie.”

In a video captured by the US Navy, an unidentified flying object is seen dancing across the screen before crashing into the ocean, capturing the imagination of UFO hunters everywhere. There is currently little information about the object except that the Pentagon has confirmed the footage is authentic, and the video has now been made available online by a UFO documentarian.
“The US Navy photographed and filmed 'spherical' shaped UFOs and advanced transmedium vehicles; here is some of that footage,” states filmmaker Jeremy Corbell on his website, where he has shared the clip and details of the object.

According to Corbell, the video was captured three years ago, in 2019, but has since been made available to the public. It is thought to have originated from within the USS Omaha's Combat Information Center while sailing off the coast of San Diego, although this is unconfirmed.
Although the video is short, it appears the object is capable of traveling through both air and water, making it more advanced in transmedium travel than any known vehicles, military or otherwise. The object itself is incredibly small, radar imaging shows a solid ball measuring just 2 meters (6 feet) in diameter. However, it appears fast, reaching speeds of up to 254 kilometers per hour (158 miles per hour) during its air flight.
A search was performed using a submarine shortly after it was spotted, but the object was long gone.
Currently, there is no known vehicle that can fly through the air for an extended period of time and then transition into water and continue traveling. Throughout the 1900s, the concept of a flying submarine was explored, but significant challenges in air supply and fuel made the idea never quite take off. In 2008, the US prepared to issue contracts for a flying submersible vehicle, but after Lockheed Martin canceled their plans for a submersible drone, it appears the contracts never materialized.
Scientists Investigate Potential Regolith Origin on Uranus’ Moon, Miranda
In a recent study published in The Planetary Science Journal, a pair of researchers led by The Carl Sagan Center at the SETI Institute in California investigated the potential origin for the thick regolith deposits on Uranus’ moon, Miranda. The purpose of this study was to determine Miranda’s internal structure, most notably its interior heat, which could help determine if Miranda harbors—or ever harbored—an internal ocean.
“It is unlikely that Miranda would be able to retain a subsurface ocean to the present day due to its small size,” said Dr. Chloe Beddingfield, who is a scientist at the NASA Ames Research Center. “However, a thick regolith layer would act like an insulating blanket, trapping heat inside Miranda and enhancing the longevity of a subsurface ocean for some period. This trapped heat would have also promoted endogenic activity for longer periods of time on Miranda, such as the geologic activity that formed one or more of Miranda’s coronae or the Global Rift System.”
Regolith is defined as “a region of loose unconsolidated rock and dust that sits atop a layer of bedrock”, and the surface material on both the Moon and Mars are frequently referred to as regolith as opposed to soil much like Earth. The difference being is soil provides necessary nutrients and minerals for things to grow, whereas regolith can be considered dead soil.
For the study, the researchers analyzed craters, specifically “muted” craters, to determine the thickness of Miranda’s surface regolith. These analyses included measuring the crater depth-Diameter ratios, crater size-frequency distribution—also known as “crater counting”, and the central mound within a specific crater, Alonso Crater. The study’s findings determined three potential sources for Miranda’s thick regolith, which include giant impact ejecta, plume deposits, and ring deposits from Uranus itself. The researchers state they favor the ring deposit hypothesis due to Miranda’s blue color, and its regolith’s large spatial extent and large thickness.
“If material from Uranus’ rings were the primary source of Miranda’s regolith, then that may indicate that Miranda formed out of ring material and/or that Miranda migrated through the rings in its early history,” said Dr. Beddingfield. “In these scenarios, Uranus’ rings may have been thicker in the past. However, future modeling work is needed to investigate these possibilities further.”
Miranda was first discovered on February 16, 1948, by Gerard P. Kuiper at the McDonald Observatory in western Texas, and has only been visited by NASA’s Voyager 2 spacecraft in 1986. This up-close encounter revealed a chaotic and intriguing world with craters, valleys, and chasms across its surface, with scientists continuing to debate to this day the processes behind the small moon’s interesting features. One such type of feature is known as “coronae”, which are large deformations that scientists hypothesize were formed from tectonic activity. So, how can this research help us better understand Miranda’s overall surface appearance?
“Because Miranda’s thick insulating regolith would reduce heat loss and possibly enhance geologic activity, the regolith may have helped support coronae formation,” said Dr. Beddingfield. “The coronae are thought to have formed from upwelling diapirs that broke Miranda’s surface. Perhaps the coronae inherited their polygonal shapes when those diapirs formed along pre-existing areas of weakness in the lithosphere, formed by pre-existing faults that make up Global Rift System. While the existence of Miranda’s regolith doesn’t tell us much about the specific processes involved in corona formation, it does allow us to get a sense of the relative timing of events and shows that geologic activity likely occurred over long periods of time.” Like most scientific findings, the paper stresses that follow-up studies are required to better understand the potential possibilities other than Uranus ring deposits for Miranda’s thick regolith.
“Miranda’s regolith could be explained by processes other than ring material accumulation including material deposition due to plume activity in the past or deposition of ejecta from a giant impact,” explained Dr. Beddingfield. “We see evidence for thick plume deposits on Saturn’s moon Enceladus, which exhibits ongoing plume activity. Alternatively, if one or more giant impact event events occurred during Miranda’s early history, then the resulting ejecta may have formed the observed regolith on Miranda. While we favor the ring material deposition scenario, these two other scenarios are certainly feasible and warrant investigation in future work.”
Currently, Voyager 2 remains the only spacecraft to visit the Uranus and its many moons, and there are no scheduled missions to re-visit this far out in the solar system.
Are Uranus’ rings responsible for Miranda’s thick regolith deposits, and what else can we learn about this mysterious moon? Only time will tell, and this is why we science!
On January 1, 2023, a Glasgow resident had a close encounter with a UFO while out walking their dog. According to the witness, they noticed a red flashing light in the sky that was also flashing with two green lights. The UFO was very noticeable and prominent in the sky, but made no noise and didn’t seem to move.
As the witness walked past the UFO, they were able to make out a triangular shape with the green light. However, when they tried to call their boyfriend, they couldn’t get through. They eventually spoke with their mother, who lived fairly close by, but she couldn’t see the UFO either.
As the witness continued walking towards their home, the UFO suddenly dropped in a straight line, causing the witness to jump in fright. It then hovered for a moment before disappearing completely. The witness reported that the UFO didn’t seem like a drone, as it was too big and moved in a way that drones aren’t capable of.
This strange and unsettling event has left the witness, and many others, wondering what could have caused it. Some speculate that it could be a military aircraft, while others believe it could be an alien visitation. Whatever the case may be, this UFO sighting has certainly sparked the imagination and curiosity of those who heard about it.
It’s important to remember that UFO sightings can be caused by a variety of factors, including natural phenomena, human-made objects, and misidentification of known objects. While it’s certainly possible that this UFO was of extraterrestrial origin, it’s also possible that there is a more mundane explanation.
Regardless of the cause, this UFO sighting in Glasgow is sure to be remembered as a mysterious and intriguing event. Hopefully, we will one day learn the truth about what the witness saw on that fateful day.

Roscoe Henry Hillenkoetter (May 8, 1897 – June 18, 1982) was the third director of the post–World War II United States Central Intelligence Group (CIG), the third Director of Central Intelligence (DCI), and the first director of the Central Intelligence Agency created by the Nautical Security Act of 1947. He served as DCI and director of the CIG and the CIA from May 1, 1947, to October 7, 1950. His retirement from the US Navy came on 1 May 1957. Since his retirement, he was a member of the board of the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP) from 1957 to 1962.
From 1948 to 1950, Roscoe H. Hillenkoetter prepared weekly UFO sighting reports, of cases that he thought were the most essential for US Present Truman’s viewing, into physical Black Booklets. According to Majestic after Hillenkoetter’ s replacement as DCI, the Watch Commander assumed tracking the “Black Book” UFO events. The Watch Committee’s involvement in tracking auspicious activity is noted in the Wilson meeting 2002 notes that were leaked in 2017.

Hillenkoetter imprecisely replied that the CIA knew it would take the Soviets approximately five years to build the bomb, but the CIA misjudged when they started. NICAP
After his retirement from the US Navy, Hillenkoetter was on National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena NICAP’s board of governors from about 1957 until 1962. Donald E. Keyhoe, NICAP director and Hillenkoetter’ s Naval Academy classmate, wrote that Hillenkoetter wanted public disclosure of UFO evidence.[ He did everything a retired officer can do to get the latest reports from the military and was a great help to NICAP in making them an important UFO organization. He was helpful in obtaining donations to pay important scientists to study the UFO problem.
Two years after Hillenkoetter’ s death, a Majestic Document surfaced in 1984. It listed Hillenkoetter’ s name as one of the Majestic 12 back in the year 1947. UFO enthusiasts of the early 1990s viewed Hillenkoetter with suspicion, as an MJ12 operative who probably steered. It ought to be noted that Hillenkoetter’ s best-known statement on the subject of UFOs, was in 1960 in a letter to Congress, as reported in NICAP and is on record as stating: “Unknown objects are operating under intelligent control. It is imperative that we learn where UFOs come from and what their purpose is.” He resigned from the NICAP Board in Feb 1962

WASHINGTON (Reuters)– The Pentagon’s new push to investigate reports of UFOs has so far not yielded any evidence to suggest that aliens have visited Earth or crash-landed here, senior military leaders said on Friday.
However, the Pentagon’s effort to investigate anomalous, unidentified objects — whether they are in space, the skies or even underwater — led to hundreds of new reports that are now being investigated, they say.
But so far, they have seen nothing that indicates intelligent alien life.
“I have not seen anything in those holdings to date that would suggest that there has been an alien visitation, an alien crash or anything like that,” said Ronald Moultrie, undersecretary of defense for intelligence and security.
Sean Kirkpatrick, director of the Pentagon’s newly formed All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), did not rule out the possibility of extraterrestrial life and said he was taking a scientific approach to the research.

The purpose of this story treatment is to establish that I, Robert Shiepe is the discovery and creator of a new subliminal photography that makes it possible to find and record unknown, fast small moving objects. Tese unknown small drones were first recorded Feb. 2018; however, I do have video that goes back to 2015. This information is going to be electronically stored with the Writers Guild of America West Registry and the U.S. Patent office. They will be a custodian of this information. These small drone-like objects here and now will be referred to as ”Dragons” because their silhouette resembles that of a ‘dragon fly’. These dragons have been chased by many agencies, over 3000 sorties. These dragons are also being recorded by at least three ocean vessels and have been recorded in Marina del Rey and Venice beach. They are extremely hard to detect and recorded. My intellectual property has made this ”work product” videos possible. These copper / brass tone dragons are about 10 inch in diameter. Their speed is about 1300 mph , on the low estimate . When dragons fly, there is a plasma like discharge that looks like wings on a dragon fly. My guess is that they are using highly advance super-conductors that can tolerate extreme high volts . The army and police often chase these UAP / dragons to the jetty rocks in Marina del Rey. I think these dragons refuel with helium from the ocean, this is one reason why they can turn orange. Hot helium plasma is orange.
It is my hope that this new information / technology will motivate the young new students to become smarter scientist. This new discovery will be my legacy to humanity.

I live in Marina Del Rey, Los Angeles. In 2017 , I noticed some new unusual flying activity by the Army, Coast Guard and Police (LAPD choppers) . I have recorded and documented over 4000 videos. The authorities are now and have been chasing a uncatchable drone about 10 inch in diameter. These drones are invisible to the human eye but not to the camera. For obvious reasons this story is not yet in the news. I have personally given this information to the echelon of Aviation and the intelligence community and SETI and the Air Force. Helicopters and UAPs over Marina del Rey, California
Of course it is exactly hard to say why these UAP’sr are flying in Marina del Rey. ever since 1960 this area has been a hotspot for UFOs, especially on June 15 1992 there were over 100 UAP’s that came out of the ocean at night in front of thousands of witnesses in Malibu. I am also considering the possibility that these new UAP’s are flying in front of my camera and Marina del Rey because of my past research with UFO’s. these UAP’s tend to fly by whenever I ask them to when I am recording. Letter from Earth Guardian Susan Signal
I receive a series of letters from people who claim they are walk-ins from other planets. They often hold important positions on Earth and one ran a multi-million dollar company using some of his off planet inventions. Susan has memories’ that might interest you.
Susan writes, “My experiences started back in 1966-67, when I was 6-7 years old. I was sleeping when I had this dream of flying a ship, which entered the Earths’ solar system faster than the speed of light. We were in the third phase of reconversion from pure energy to solid form. As we entered the solar system, we bounced off of the planets gravitational fields of Neptune, Pluto and two other unnamed planets”.

As we flew passed the sun it looked like a solid rock due to our light speed. I was the navigator on far left hand side of the ship. As such, I was hyper sensitive to any subtle energy changes in the universe-even before they would occur. This was one of the mandatory requirements for navigation (svar-ari-erum) in our language. As we entered the Earths’ atmosphere, I was already awake and the rest of my “Nyindan-human” crew was still asleep. As we entered the atmosphere, a rift or black hole opened up.
Later on, in 1995 meeting of a local MUFON chapter, a Dr. Lee Sharguil of NASA gave a speech and spoke of a rift that opens up periodically over the 24-25 parallels and can engulf anything. This would explain our “black hole”. When this occurred, I yelled “Ectna, Ectna, shift the mass to the black hole-not away from it! Shift the mass to the black hole! Ectna, Ectna wake up!” As he woke, he didn’t hear me and shifted the mass away from the black hole. Before I could say “No you have to cancel the field vectors with the mass field, we’re still transient and can do this safely the black hole obliterated our ship. I woke up with a profuse sweat and my heart pounding my chest as I sat there actually cross-legged staring at the closet. I knew what this meant-that I was an alien incarnate that actual flew those UFOs.”
Due to the very nature of my dream and its implications, I knew I couldn’t tell my mom like any other child tells their mom because of her not believing in ‘spaceships’. So, I was alone on this one and had to sort it out on my own. This was only the beginning of self-re-discovery and a long bonding relationship with them. Investigator David Paulides has focused his attention on compelling evidence that there is an unusual set of circumstances for many of the missing individuals that vanish in the wilderness. In the first half, he discussed his newest documentary (view trailer), demonstrating a link between UFOs and missing people. One connection involves the mysterious abduction and mutilation of animals. A witness from Washington state told him that he and a group of workers saw a UFO hover over an elk in a valley and then aerially lift it away. This was in an area where many animals suffer from chronic wasting disease (CWD). Subsequently, Paulides met with a group of Idaho hunters, in another area inundated by CWD. One of them saw a giant UFO hovering above the trees, and it turned out “that the location where this happened was just nine miles east from two cases we covered.
Paulides interviewed, a man now in his 90s, described seeing a humanoid just as he was firing on some elk back in the 1970s. He found himself on their ship, where he saw three elk almost frozen in motion. The humanoid told him that they regularly take animals, as well as things from the ocean. He was examined aboard the ship but then rejected because he’d had a vasectomy. The witness described being dropped from above onto a hill near where he was hunting. When the missing are returned or found, they may have injuries from a fall and missing clothing. Paulides speculated that the UFO occupants might be monitoring the environment. He also talked about portals, and a missing hiker at Mesa Verde National Park who was heard calling out for help but could never be found, even with rescue dogs.

Macklin described his Global Enlightenment Project as a way for individuals to take their power back and counter what he characterized as a ‘Reptilian’ element (Anunnaki/Luciferians/Draconian) on the planet who seek to control humanity. Arcticians, a benevolent alien species, he claimed, will function to wipe out the Reptilian energy. According to Macklin, many people’s ailments and psychological problems are due to attachments of negative beings or energies.

Bruce Cornet met a hunter who was walking along a forested ridge when it became very dark and he saw a light ahead and walked into the light .and was in a jungle apparently he walked into some kind of portal. A voice stated I’ve got you and grabbed his shoulder, in terror he pulled away and backed up back into the forest. He felt he had been in some kind of portal and was lucky not to have been killed.

China’s secretive reusable space plane has released an object into orbit, according to tracking data from the U.S. Space Force. China carried out the second launch of its “reusable experimental spacecraft” from Jiuquan in the Gobi Desert atop a Long March 2F rocket Aug. 4, 2022.
The spacecraft has now been in orbit for five months. Two weeks ago the spacecraft claimed to a near-circular 597 by 608-kilometer orbit. I n a latest development the U.S. Space Force’s 18th Space Defense Squadron has tracked an object close to the spaceplane

The object—the nature of which is unknown—is likely in very close proximity to the spacecraft and thus only entered into the database once it could be discerned to be a separate, discrete object with a high level of confidence. Robert Christy of Orbital Focus notes that the release of the object could have taken place anytime between Oct. 24 and Oct. 31, performing station-keeping to remain close to the space place. China has not released any updates on the mission since a terse statement announcing the launch of the spacecraft. No images of the craft have been published. This is not the first time the spacecraft has ejected an object. Little is known about China’s space plane project.:

As the jet stream changes intensity and position, it affects the motion and strength of the Arctic air mass bringing it into the U/S.. That array, transmits RF waves that interact with the ionosphere and may affect the location of the jet stream pushing it further North to pick up freezing temperatures. The deadly winter storm knocks out power in 1.5 million homes. The cold air is the coldest and most powerful in a generation and the winds in the jet stream are reaching 200 mph over the North Atlantic.
The HAARP beam is broad like a flashlight’s, not narrow like a laser, but it can be electronically steered anywhere within 30° of zenith—that is, local vertical—and it can operate at 3–10 megawatts of power (MHz.) Its powerful radio waves drive ionospheric electrons back and forth in what are called plasma waves. As those driven electrons collide with each other and with background species, their temperature goes up, which is why HAARP is called a heater. Thanks to its frequency agility, the HAARP antenna can heat at specific altitudes where the transmission frequency simultaneously matches two resonances. 180 antennas are linked to function as one mega antenna aiming millions of watts of Extremely Low Frequency waves into one tiny patch of the atmosphere.
During a Senate hearing on May 20, 2014, David Walker, Deputy Secretary of the Air Force for science, technology and regarding HAARP in Alaska. Walker said,” This is not an area that we have any need for in the future” and it would not be a good use of Air Force research funds to keep HAARP going. “We’re moving on to other ways of managing the ionosphere, which the HAARP was really designed to do,” he said “To inject energy into the ionosphere to be able to actually control it But that work has been completed ”
U S Defense Secretary William Cohen in 2000, said,“ HAARP and weather control is not only possible, but has been and continues to be used as a “super weapon,” “Others [nations] are engaging even in an eco-type of terrorism whereby they can alter the climate, set off earthquakes, volcanoes remotely through the use of electromagnetic waves.
… There are plenty of ingenious minds out there that are at work finding ways in which they can wreck terror upon other nations. It’s real, and that’s the reason why we have to intensify our [counterterrorism] efforts ”
Many believe HAARP was created and has been used for weather control, by controlling the jet streams movement with enough juice to trigger cold weather across the US by directing the jet stream north into Alaska and Canada and then down into the US bringing Polar weather with it. Why build five HAARPs unless you are going to use them to change the jet streams normal patterns .
Climate engineering/geoengineering/weather warfare is mathematically the greatest and most immediate threat we face (short of nuclear cataclysm).
The Chinese Communists have developed at least five HAARP facilities, three in the Gobi Desert, one near Shanghai, and a similar facility on the Hainan Island in the South China Sea. China also likely mounted a HAARP facility on ships and are able to move to key locations and conduct geoengineering such as changing the course of the Jet Stream. Five known Extremely Low Frequency wave transmitters are operated by China. If they work together, they could alter the world’s weather by changing the jet stream’s route. That in turn have cause extreme cold, storms or droughts, or even steer hurricanes.

The energy HAARP beams into the atmosphere heats up the ionosphere and pushes it out into space. This could indirectly affect the jet stream as the ionosphere is pushed into space, dragging the stratosphere below up and pulling the jet stream up as well, rerouting it by hundreds of miles. The result changes the way water moves through the atmosphere. Change weather patterns over large areas.
From 1987 through 1992, California experienced its worst-ever drought. Food prices went up as crops and livestock died. At the same time, the Soviet Union aimed ‘Woodpecker’, a similar program to HAARP, at North America. Scientists believed the problem was a mysteriously stalled high pressure system 800 miles off the coast of California, which was blocking the usual flow of moist Pacific air. Normally, the winds blow in an easterly direction. However, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) showed the winds were blowing in a westerly direction. That meant the jet stream was much weaker. The jet stream only returned to normal in 1995.
