Long Description of Sighting Report - Case 117512

This is the 2nd time we have witnessed this event. Today this object caught my attention because it was pulsating and spinning/rotating in the corner of my eye higher than a plane flys. Started NW and slowly headed N higher and higher. At First it wasn't moving then slowly moved higher. The first time we witnessed this we watched the same event but a 2nd object came and met together probably covering a distance of 10miles from S to N within 5secs and both just faded away slowly.

Levi Highcock had stopped to take a picture of the full moon

A Merseyside woman who stopped to take a picture on a night time drive believes she's captured a UFO hovering in the sky on camera.

Last night, at around 10pm, Levi Highcock was out on a drive with her friend when they stopped the car to take a picture of the evening sky in Clockface area of St Helens.

Levi, 24, said she attempted to take a picture of the moon on Snapchat, but due to the lighting decided to take another on her phone camera using the night time mode.

But when she looked closer at the picture, Levi said and her friend were shocked when they spotted something blue in the sky similar to that of a UFO.

Levi told the ECHO: "I was taking a picture on snapchat and I couldn't see anything in the snap so I took a picture with the night mode on my camera and I could see this blue thing in the sky.

"I couldn't see any lights around it or anything, you can just see the blue thing in the sky. I was just taking a picture of the moon while we were out because I thought it looked nice.

"I was just out for a drive with my friend."

Levi said she was initially shocked by what she discovered and later posted the picture to a local Facebook group to see if anyone agreed with what she saw or had spotted it themselves.

She said: "We were just like oh, my god, it does look like a UFO. It does look like a ship, it doesn't look like a plane or a light, it looks like a UFO.

"I sort of believe in them. I'm not a strong believer but I do believe there are aliens out there and stuff like that.

New class of exoplanets called 'Hycean' planets could support ALIENS - despite being hot, ocean-covered and hydrogen-rich, study claims

• The Hycean class of alien worlds are larger and hotter than Earth-like planets

• It is hoped that with new telescopes life could be spotted within three years

A new class of 'waterworld' exoplanets have been found by astronomers, who say that despite being hot, ocean-covered and hydrogen-rich - could support life.

They have been dubbed 'Hycean' world's by the team from the University of Cambridge, who say they 'greatly increase our chance of finding alien life.' 

In the search for life elsewhere, researchers have mostly looked for planets of a similar size, mass, temperature and atmospheric composition to Earth.

Astronomers now say there may be more promising candidates out there, and these Hycean worlds are more numerous than Earth-like planets.

The habitable exoplanets are hot, ocean-covered worlds with hydrogen-rich atmospheres, and are more observable than Earth-like planets due to their temperature, making them easier to detect with current telescopes.

According to the scientists, the findings could mean the discovery of biosignatures of life outside our Solar System is a real possibility within the next two or three years.

Many of the prime candidates of these planets identified by the researchers are bigger and hotter than Earth.

However, they still have the characteristics to host large oceans that could support microbial life similar to that found in some of Earth's most extreme aquatic environments, researchers suggested.

The planets also allow for a far wider habitable zone, or Goldilocks zone, compared to Earth-like planets.

This means that they could still support life even though they lie outside the range where a planet similar to Earth would need to be in order to be habitable.

Since the first exoplanet was discovered 30 years ago, thousands of other planets have been discovered outside of our Solar System.

The majority are planets between the sizes of Earth and Neptune, often referred to as super-Earths or mini-Neptunes.

They can be predominantly rocky or ice giants with hydrogen-rich atmospheres, or something in between.

Earlier studies of such planets found that the pressure and temperature beneath their hydrogen-rich atmospheres would be too high to support life.

However, a recent study on the mini-Neptune K2-18b by Dr Madhusudhan's team found that in certain conditions these planets could support life.

This prompted detailed investigation into the full range of planetary and stellar properties for which these conditions are possible.

It also looked at which known exoplanets may satisfy those conditions, and whether their biosignatures may be observable in the near future.

The investigation led researchers to identify a new class of planets, Hycean planets, with massive planet-wide oceans beneath hydrogen-rich atmospheres.

Hycean planets can be up to 2.6 times larger than Earth and have atmospheric temperatures up to nearly 200 degrees Celsius (392F).

The astronomers suggest such planets also include tidally locked 'dark' Hycean worlds that may have habitable conditions only on their permanent night sides, and 'cold' Hycean worlds that receive little radiation from their stars.

Size alone is not enough to determine whether a planet is Hycean, and other aspects such as mass, temperature and atmospheric properties are required to confirm.

Dr Madhusudhan said: 'Essentially, when we've been looking for these various molecular signatures, we have been focusing on planets similar to Earth, which is a reasonable place to start.

'But we think Hycean planets offer a better chance of finding several trace biosignatures.'

The habitable exoplanets are hot, ocean-covered worlds with hydrogen-rich atmospheres, and are more observable than Earth-like planets due to their temperature, making them easier to detect with current telescopes

Co-author Anjali Piette, also from the university of Cambridge, added: 'It's exciting that habitable conditions could exist on planets so different from Earth.'

The team has identified a sizeable sample of potential Hycean worlds which are prime candidates for detailed study with next-generation telescopes, such as the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), which is due to be launched later this year.

These planets all orbit red dwarf stars between 35-150 light years away - close by astronomical standards.

It is thought that planned JWST observations of the most promising candidate, K2-18b, could lead to the detection of one or more biosignature molecules.

'A biosignature detection would transform our understanding of life in the universe,' said Dr Madhusudhan.

Adding: 'We need to be open about where we expect to find life and what form that life could take, as nature continues to surprise us in often unimaginable ways.' 

 Most often, these biosignatures are oxygen, ozone, methane and nitrous oxide, which are all present on Earth. 

There are also a number of other biomarkers, such as methyl chloride and dimethyl sulphide, that are less abundant on Earth but can be promising indicators of life on planets with hydrogen-rich atmospheres.

On these planets, life could be supported despite oxygen or ozone not as abundant. 

The findings are reported in The Astrophysical Journal.

Scientists study the atmosphere of distant exoplanets using enormous space satellites like Hubble

Distant stars and their orbiting planets often have conditions unlike anything we see in our atmosphere. 

To understand these new world's, and what they are made of, scientists need to be able to detect what their atmospheres consist of.  

They often do this by using a telescope similar to Nasa's Hubble Telescope.

These enormous satellites scan the sky and lock on to exoplanets that Nasa think may be of interest. 

Here, the sensors on board perform different forms of analysis. 

One of the most important and useful is called absorption spectroscopy. 

This form of analysis measures the light that is coming out of a planet's atmosphere. 

Every gas absorbs a slightly different wavelength of light, and when this happens a black line appears on a complete spectrum. 

These lines correspond to a very specific molecule, which indicates it's presence on the planet. 

They are often called Fraunhofer lines after the German astronomer and physicist that first discovered them in 1814.

By combining all the different wavelengths of lights, scientists can determine all the chemicals that make up the atmosphere of a planet. 

The key is that what is missing, provides the clues to find out what is present.  

It is vitally important that this is done by space telescopes, as the atmosphere of Earth would then interfere. 

Absorption from chemicals in our atmosphere would skew the sample, which is why it is important to study the light before it has had chance to reach Earth. 

This is often used to look for helium, sodium and even oxygen in alien atmospheres.

Alien life may exist on planets that have been hiding in plan sight, previously dismissed as astronomers as being incapable of hosting life.

That’s the conclusion of a study published today in The Astrophysical Journal in which a team from the University of Cambridge identify a new class of habitable exoplanets they’ve dubbed “Hycean.”

“Hycean” planets aren’t rocky like Earth, instead having oceans and hydrogen-rich atmospheres.

It’s thought that the new classification could accelerate the search for life outside our Solar System for one simple reason: planets that fulfil the criteria to be “Hycean” already dominate the known exoplanet population, which is approaching 4,500.

Such planets are also larger than Earth and many are relatively close to us, so much easier to find and study than tiny Earth-like planets.

So life could be hiding in plain sight.

The researchers singled out one particular exoplanet, called K2-18b, which tops a list of exoplanets that they say should be investigated by the massive James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), which launches this October.

“Hycean planets open a whole new avenue in our search for life elsewhere,” said Dr. Nikku Madhusudhan from Cambridge’s Institute of Astronomy, who led the research. He thinks that we should be looking for trace gases in these planets’ atmospheres that have previously been overlooked, but could be as valid a “biosignature”—a suggestion of life—as the typically searched-for oxygen, ozone, methane and nitrous oxide.

What are ‘Hycean’ planets?

They’re hot, ocean-covered planets with hydrogen-rich atmospheres, mostly bigger and hotter than Earth. That makes them rocky “Super Earths” or “Mini Neptunes” with hydrogen-rich atmospheres, which have thus far been ignored as exoplanets capable of hosting Earth-like life. There are no planets like them in our Solar System.

However, the researchers claim that some of them could host large oceans that could support microbial life similar to the extremophiles found around vents in Earth’s oceans.

Hycean planets can:

• be up to 2.6 times larger than Earth.
• have atmospheric temperatures up to nearly 200 degrees Celsius.
• be ocean worlds conducive for microbial life in Earth’s oceans.
• be tidally locked planets with a permanent night-side.
• be far from their stars that receive little sunlight.

Why have ‘Hycean’ planets so far been overlooked?

In their search for an “Earth 2.0” astronomers usually focus on planets of a similar size, mass, temperature and atmospheric composition to Earth.

They also look only in the “habitable zone” of a star—that region between the snow-line and the star where liquid water could exist on the surface.

As well as widening the search for life beyond Earth analogs, “Hycean” planets could redefine how wide a habitable zone can be—i.e. where a planet’s oceans could be much hotter or colder than on Earth and still potentially host forms of life.

Welcome to K2-18b

Situated 124 light-years away in the constellation of Leo, K2-18b is a mini-Neptune planet orbiting a red dwarf star. JWST will definitely study its atmosphere and look for biosignatures because water vapor was discovered in its atmosphere.

However, it’s regarded by most astronomers as being too big to have a rocky interior like Earth, so very unlikely to host any kind of life. It’s also thought that the planet would have both a surface temperature and surface pressure too high to support life.

But Madhusudhan’s team found that in certain conditions K2-18b and planets like it could support life, specifically by because they may host other biomarker molecules like methyl chloride and dimethyl sulphide.

The hunt for new ‘Hycean’ biomarkers

Such molecules are less abundant on Earth, but the researchers say that they could be indicators of life on planets with hydrogen-rich atmospheres, where oxygen or ozone may not be as abundant.

“Essentially, when we’ve been looking for these various molecular signatures, we have been focusing on planets similar to Earth, which is a reasonable place to start,” said Madhusudhan. “But we think Hycean planets offer a better chance of finding several trace biosignatures.”

“We need to be open about where we expect to find life and what form that life could take, as nature continues to surprise us in often unimaginable ways,” said Madhusudhan.

The ‘Hycean’ hit-list

Investigating which other known exoplanets may boast similar conditions and properties as K2-18b, the team produced a shortlist of 11 “Hycean” exoplanets with promising properties for JWST to study in the hope of turning up these or other biosignatures.

All of them orbit red dwarf stars between 35-150 light years away—super-close to us in galactic terms.

Father And Sons Close Encounter With A Very Strange Alien Craft

AUGUST 17, 2021 …………….GARDEN VALLEY CALIFORNIA

My young son and I were outside watching the Perseid meteor shower and the smoke in the sky from the large wild fire in our county. To the northeast is a regular flight pattern of aircraft far off in the distant to the NE the craft fly from the east to the west and just look like small lights in the sky. On this occasion a craft flew from the NE straight in my direction, directly over my house to the SE. I had put a large shop light outside facing the NE to keep the critters away because my dogs bark all night. I think the craft was seeing what my light was. It moved very slowly and I could hear no noise until it was directly over my house. As it approached it had a huge white light and red lights around the top and sides. I thought it was a helicopter at first buy it was too large and didn’t make that kind of sound.

As it got closer the lights looked different. I could see it had a small red blinking light on the right side and a large blue light on the left side. The red light was the only blinking light on the craft and the blue light was constant and didn’t blink. The blue light was not as large as the white light in the middle. The nose of the craft was flat where the huge white light was on the front. The craft was shaped like a huge carrier jet and cigar shaped but a lot smaller than a cargo jet. It was just above tree top level and made a slight jet sound but very quietly as it flew over my house very slowly. I don’t know how it was flying so slowly and staying in the sky. I didn’t see any windows. It was shorter than the length of my house but the width and girth was larger than my house. It had two small wings to the front of the craft that didn’t look large enough for the craft. The small blinking red light and the blue light were on its wings. There were no jet engines on the wings or on the sides of the craft. It had no propellers.

I could not tell if or where any engines were on the craft. The body of the craft came to a smaller point to the rear and as if passed by I could see 2 huge tail wings that were on the craft in a vertical direction, huge rectangular shaped. The rear wings were very large and thick with each having a huge white rectangular light on the middle of the wing shining directly behind the craft. These rear lights were larger than the white light in the front. The wings looked like the wings on the star wars movie tie fighter but they were rectangular. I guess they are called v wings but these structures on the craft would not have benefited air flow around the craft. These rear vertical things on the back were taller than the body of the craft but did not hang down below the belly of the craft and were thick like giant blocks. The craft as a whole didn’t look like any jet I’ve ever seen, it looked like a space ship that could have turned straight up and went into space. I stood there with my mouth open saying “what is that” over and over again. My son is too young to say what he saw fly over the house. I have looked all over the internet but cannot find anything that looks remotely like what I saw. I didn’t think it was aliens although I guess I don’t know what one of their ships really looks like, but; I felt like it was ours. I turned off the bright light outside and haven’t turned it on since. I was half expecting the military to show up at my house because of the light but that didn’t happen, thank goodness. Apparently there are space craft on this planet that us regular people don’t know anything about. NOTE: The above image is real but from another case file.

Hersenen van octopussen tonen verrassende gelijkenissen met die van mensen

Hoewel octopussen al zowat 600 miljoen jaar een andere evolutionaire weg bewandelen, vertoont de vorming van hun hersencellen verrassende gelijkenissen met die van de mens. Dat blijkt uit onderzoek van ontwikkelingsbiologen aan de KU Leuven.

Bijzonder aan de ontwikkeling van onze menselijke hersencellen is dat ze niet gebeurt op de plaats waar ze hun functie vervullen. Hersencellen ontwikkelen vanuit hersenstamcellen die, wanneer ze uitgroeien tot functionele hersencellen, nog een reis moeten ondernemen tot hun finale plaats in de hersenen.

“Dit bijzondere fenomeen is zichtbaar in de hersenen van gewervelde dieren zoals de mens, maar we hadden geen idee of dit migratieproces belangrijk is voor complexe hersenvorming in het algemeen”, zegt Eve Seuntjes, professor ontwikkelingsbiologie aan de KU Leuven. “Om die vraag te beantwoorden, moet je op zoek naar een dier met even complexe hersenen dat evolutionair zo ver mogelijk van onszelf verwijderd is. Pas wanneer er gelijkenissen zijn tussen dieren met een compleet ander evolutionair vertrekpunt, wijst dit erop dat deze manier van hersenontwikkeling geen toevalligheid is.”

De achtarmige octopussen bleken het antwoord te zijn op deze vraag. Ze hebben een complexe hersenstructuur die ze bovendien nuttig gebruiken. Octopussen zijn in staat om te spelen, te dromen, voorwerpen te gebruiken en zelfs vooruit te plannen. Deze ongewervelde dieren hebben een compleet ander evolutionair vertrekpunt dat op één of andere manier toch geleid heeft tot een gedrag dat wij als mensen herkennen.

Doorzichtige eieren

“In het lab bouwden we een ideale omgeving waarin octopuseieren kunnen ontwikkelen. Doordat de eieren doorzichtig zijn, konden we elke fase van de ontwikkeling goed opvolgen”, vertelt postdoctoraal onderzoeker Astrid Deryckere. “Tot onze grote verbazing vertonen hersencellen bij octopussen hetzelfde migratiegedrag als menselijke hersencellen. Dit bewijst dat migratie van hersencellen fundamenteel is om complexe hersenen te vormen.”

“In een volgende fase zullen we proberen te achterhalen hoe je van deze ingenieuze opbouw tot effectieve hersenactiviteit gaat en hoe dit dan verder leidt tot bepaalde gedragingen”, besluit Seuntjens.

The Lake Superior Event !
An unidentified pair of lights appeared and hovered above a freighter travelling across Lake Superior.
Erik Rintamaki was travelling though Paradise, Michigan, when he spotted a couple of bright lights in the sky above him.
Whipping out his camera to film, one of the lights dipped out of view before appearing minutes later.
The bright yellow orbs continued to float high above the freighter for more than an hour as Erik watched on stunned.

Could an alien invasion be in store for the GTA?

A video shared on YouTube by user The Unknown 41 alleges to have caught a UFO on camera in Mississauga.

In the 16-second clip, which was posted on August 21, a dark object can be seen floating in the evening sky.

The camera zooms in and out on the figure as it glides horizontally across the sky.

The video description states that there are “no signs of CGI or video editing,” and that it appears to be a “real and legitimate” UFO.

While some viewers are convinced the object is not of this world, others have denounced it as nothing more than a balloon—specifically one of Mr. Peanut.

The later theory came about after a photo, allegedly of the same flying object but from a different angle, surfaced on Reddit.

Regardless of the object’s true nature, it is—at least for now—an unidentified flying object.

Despite the countless dubious conspiracy theories attributed to the site also known as “Dreamland” or “Groom Lake,” there’s no doubt that for over six decades the base hosted all sorts of “black project” aircraft whose existence was not formally disclosed by the Pentagon.

Though the CIA only obliquely admitted to the site’s existence in 2013, we actually know a fair bit about how Area 51 came to be—and even how it first became a subject of juicy UFO stories.

A Private Testing Ground for Eisenhower’s Top-Secret Spy Plane

In the early 1950s, the United States was super keen on monitoring the Soviet Union’s rapidly developing nuclear ballistic missile program. As the first spy satellites remained a few years away from being launched, the only way to reliably spy on these sights was to fly above them and snap pictures with giant cameras. But by the early 1950s, the Soviet Union’s new air defense system and high-flying jet interceptors made spy flights excessively risky.

To overcome these defenses, Lockheed engineer Kelly Johnson proposed a glide-liker spy plane that would simply fly too high to be intercepted at over 70,000 feet. This still involved illegally violating Soviet airspace—but as long as the spy planes couldn’t be shot down, Moscow couldn’t prove the spy flights were happening at all.

In November 1954, Eisenhower approved the development of this U-2 spy plane in a program known as “Project Aquatone” to be operated by the CIA. While the plane would be built at Lockheed’s famous Skunkworks facility, an aircraft designed for illegal spy overflights needed to be tested somewhere more discrete.

Johnson asked Lockheed test pilot Tony LeVier to find a suitably clandestine airfield. As described in the book Dark Eagles by Curtis Peebles, test pilot Tony LeVier departed from the Skunkworks facility in Palmdale, California flying a Beechcraft Bonanza light plane, ostensibly on a “hunting trip.” In reality, they proceeded to survey 50 decertified sites in Arizona, California, and Nevada over two weeks—but none seemed sufficiently remote.

However, Air Force liaison Col. Osmond Ritland recalled an abandoned X-shaped landing strip that had served as a gunnery field during World War II.

CIA officers Richard Bissell, LeVier, and Johnson flew down to inspect the strip, which lay next to a dry Nevada salt flat called Groom Lake. Bissell described the site as “…a perfect natural landing field… as smooth as a billiard table without anything being done to it.”

Johnson indicated “We’ll put it right there. That’s the hangar.”

A fake company called CLJ, created to obscure Lockheed’s involvement, recruited contractors to build up the facilities in the sweltering summer of 1955 at a cost of $800,000.

Finally, on July 24, 1955, the prototype U-2, dubbed Article 341, was disassembled and stowed into a hulking C-124 Globemaster transport plane, which transported it to the “Ranch”—landing with deflated tires so as not to break through the thin runway.

The U-2 went on to see several successful flight tests and in a matter of months was deployed on spy flights over the Soviet Union with CIA pilots.

Civilian airline pilots and air traffic controllers began spotting the silvery U-2s flying at supposedly impossible heights. Given that the Air Force couldn’t explain the sightings by telling the truth, it devised weather-related incidents to explain them away. These often unconvincing explanations only fed the fervor of conspiracy theorists.

The Blackbirds: A-12, D-21, and SR-71

When a Soviet S-75 surface-to-air missile blasted Gary Powers’s U-2 in 1960, and he subsequently confessed to performing espionage flights) it became clear that altitude alone would not provide an adequate defense. Kelly Johnson had already anticipated this vulnerability in 1958, when he began exploring a new spy plane concept: combining high altitude with sustained speeds exceeding three times the speed of sound, and radar-stealth—hopefully making the jet too high and fast to ever intercept.

This CIA-Lockheed “black project”—codenamed “Project Oxcart”—spawned the futuristic-looking A-12 single-seat spy plane, the progenitor of the famous (and unclassified) two-seat SR-71 Blackbird flown by the U.S. Air Force. 

The Groom Lake facility at this time acquired the designation “Area 51” as it expanded and developed specialized facilities for the striking supersonic jets: larger additional hangars, a longer 10,000 foot runway, safer backup landing areas, over 130 housing units for personnel, and enlarged fuel stores for the exotic high-temperature JP-7 fuel used in the A-12.

The first A-12s arrived in 1962 along with elite military pilots temporarily discharged and placed in the employ of the CIA, a protocol known as “sheep-dipping.” Though the White House never dispatched A-12s on overflights of the Soviet Union, they did fly thirty-two missions over Vietnam and North Korea in Project Blackshield before being retired in favor of the Air Force’s SR-71s, which had side-looking cameras that didn’t require overflight of hostile airspace.

Lockheed also devised a D-21 spy drone that resembled a miniature, single-engined Blackbird, carried on top of a Blackbird-derived carrier aircraft called the M-21.        

Tragically, one of the piggybacked D-21 drones collided with its M-21 carrier during a test launch. Though both of the M-21’s crew ejected, one drowned before he could be rescued, and Johnson canceled M-21 program.

However, the CIA did later try to make use of the D-21s by launching them from B-52 bombers to snap footage of Chinese nuclear test sites. However, a series of mishaps meant the Air Force was unable to recover footage from any of the five drone missions it dispatched.

Birthplace of the Stealth Jet

While the A-12 and Blackbird had limited stealth characteristics, by the 1970s, the Air Force was interested in taking another crack at a low-radar-observable jet, this time with combat application.

In 1977, the Skunk Works used new computer modeling technology to design and build two pale aircraft with diamond-like faceted surfaces coated with radar-absorbent iron ball paint. These “Have Blue” aircraft was disassembled and flown to Area 51 in a giant C-5 cargo jet on November 16, then rebuilt and test flown.

Lo and behold, the Have Blues did exhibit drastically reduced radar cross-sections—but they were also highly aerodynamically unstable, and both crashed in 1979.

Lockheed evolved Have Blue into the F-117 Nighthawk attack jet, which used computer fly-by-wire systems to correct the aircraft’s inherent instability. A YF-117 prototype too made its first flight at Groom Lake on June 17, 1981. Production F-117s were then stationed at Area 51 before being redeployed to the nearby Tonopah Test Range.

Though the Pentagon admitted to the existence of a stealth jet in 1983, the secrecy surrounding the F-117 was so effective that the public never had any inkling of the Nighthawk’s true appearance, nor even its designation (widely believed to be the “F-19”) until was finally unveiled in 1988.

Meanwhile, Northrop, too, began refining its stealth technology with the Tacit Blue demonstrator, dubbed the “whale” or “alien school bus” for its decidedly unglamorous appearance. This made its first flight at Groom Lake in February 1982—the first of 135 in all before the demonstrator was retired in 1985.

Conceived as a stealthy surveillance plane with a discrete Low Probability of Intercept Radar, Tacit Blue instead pioneered the use of computer-engineered curved surfaces in stealth aircraft which heavily informed Northrop’s forthcoming B-2 stealth bomber.

Some believe that ancient Machu Picchu in Peru and the Teotihuacan Pyramid of the Moon in New Mexico are not only archaeological wonders, but also evidence that ancient astronauts visited these areas and may still visit these places given the many unexplained objects in the sky that appeared above or near these locations over the years. 

Unexplained objects like a glowing disk over Peruvian Andes near Machu Picchu, the disk has a copper color which gives off a glow and looks very geometric and does not resemble a reflection. Or a strange object, that is best described as a humanoid figure sitting on an aerial vehicle, that appeared above Teotihuacan Pyramid of the Moon, New Mexico, or a strange colorful object and a UFO-like anomaly that both appeared over Machu Picchu.
