Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

You wont believe what I found today. Proof of an ancient alien symbol that goes back thousands of years here on Earth, but may go back billions on Saturns moon Iapetus. Back in 2012 I found a crater, but then realised it was a Yin-yang symbol. I had found it in two different photos, but this week I found that the entire moon itself is a Yin-yang symbol! Thats right. Aliens on Saturn believe so much in its meaning that they made the entire moon a symbol of their belief. The fact that this symbol was found not once, but twice in two different ways is 100% proof that aliens exist on Iapetus and Saturn. Also note, Iapetus may not be a real moon, but an artificially made station to appear as a moon, in order to not frighten lower level species. So the symbol Yin-yang is 3,000 years here on Earth, but goes back millions or billions of years on Iapetus and Saturn. This...changes world history forever! Mind blowing stuff.

I was looking at some sun photos taken by SOHO/NASA site Helioviewer.org when I found a cube. The cube...which is a ship...has some unusual features. There is a bit of depth to its sides. Its also reflecting the suns light in its lower left corner. Its also very dark black in the upper right corner...which means its cold in that location. This cube ship has been seen half buried under the suns surface before and even whips of the suns explosions passing over its surface. The cube which I believe to be one of many, is seen near the sun every week.
One day, AI will discover this and confirm my findings and discoveries both near the sun and discoveries on surfaces of planets and moons. But the real question is...will mere humans trust the conclusions of AI, or will the conclusion be...too terrifying to even consider possible?
This UFO report just came into MUFON today. A guy was driving home from work when he saw some strange pulsating lights up ahead. The lights didn't' fly away, but were hovering in place in the fog. From what I see when I slow down the video, there is a black thick disk at the center of these lights. So it is a UFO and it is hovering in place. Its possible what this person was witnessing was a close encounter with a UFO that had just landed and had aliens disembark to study the inhabitants of this small town before they woke up. Wow, just an amazing encounter...I only wish he had stopped the car and gotten out to record more, but I'm sure fear played a part in him driving off.

On January 1, 2021 the SDO observatory captured a huge anomaly that suddenly appeared next to the Sun, but something strange happened.
The Helioviewer shows the anomaly like it is coming out of the sun but when downloading the video it shows that the anomaly is much further away in space when it flies past the sun within a split second.
NASA and other scientific organizations claim that anomalies and UFOs near the sun are merely a collection of streaks left by cosmic rays, charged particles from space, which whizzed through the camera's sensor, or CCD, as the images were taken.
However, looking at this gigantic object it seems as if it has a fixed design. So what is it, a streak left by cosmic rays, charged particles from space or a giant UFO?
And what about the different images of the Helioviewer showing this object (same date and time stamp) close to the sun as well as further away in space. There is an explanation for it?
This glowing ring-shaped UFO formation was filmed in the sky above Fargo in North Dakota on 9th January 2021.

A rocky “super-Earth” that is orbiting one of the oldest stars in our Milky Way Galaxy has been discovered. The exoplanet, which has been named TOI-561b, is approximately 50% larger than Earth.
The planet was discovered by experts analyzing data collected by NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) as well as the W.M. Keck Observatory in Hawaii. The system is located about 280 light-years away from us and while two other planets have also been found orbiting the host star (in addition to TOI-561b), they are much too large, not dense enough, and probably gaseous so they wouldn’t be rocky worlds.
TOI-561b zips around its host star at an incredibly fast speed as it takes less than 12 hours for it to complete a full orbit. Since it whips around the star at such a close proximity, the exoplanet has an exceptionally hot surface temperature of about 3,140 degrees Fahrenheit (or 1,726 degrees Celsius). With that being said, I think it’s safe to say that the planet does not host any type of life.
Milky Way
One interesting thing they did find out about the exoplanet is that its density is very similar to Earth’s. In a UC Riverside statement, Stephen Kane, who is a planetary astrophysicist from the University of California, Riverside, and a co-author of the study, explained, “This is surprising, because you’d expect the density to be higher.” “This is consistent with the notion that the planet is extremely old.”
In fact, the exoplanet could be as old as 10 billion years. Even its host star, called TOI-561, is extremely old and is located in an area called the galactic thick disk where the stars contain much less heavy elements than others that are in our galaxy. Since the Milky Way Galaxy is approximately 13.6 billion years old and TOI-561 could be as old as 10 billion years, that’s incredibly interesting to think that specific system is almost as old as the galaxy. To put this into better perspective, our sun is only 4.5 billion years old.
Lauren Weiss, who is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Hawaii and the lead author of the study, noted, “This planet formed at a time when the majority of stars in our galaxy were first beginning to shine.” She went on to say, “TOI-561b is one of the oldest rocky planets yet discovered.” “Its existence shows that the universe has been forming rocky planets almost since its inception 14 billion years ago.”

Kane added, “Though this particular planet is unlikely to be inhabited today, it may be a harbinger of many rocky worlds yet to be discovered around our galaxy’s oldest stars.” And the search continues… (An artist’s impression of what TOI-561b looks like can be seen here.)

A large female statue wearing a Star Wars-like headdress was found in a citrus field in the town of Hidalgo Amajac which is located in Veracruz, Mexico. The large 6’5” limestone statue dates back about 500 years during the late Postclassic period (between the years 1450 and 1521). At the widest part of the statue, it measured almost 2 feet in width and about 10 inches in thickness. It also has a spike at the bottom of the statue so that it could stand upright.
According to Mexico’s National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), the statue shows a young woman who is wearing fancy clothing (long-sleeved shirt and a long skirt but bare feet) as well as very elaborate jewelry that included tassel-like earrings, a circular pendant called a “oyohualli” that was on a thick chain, and a headdress that looked very similar to the one that Ahsoka Tano wore in Star Wars.
The statue’s face made the female appear surprised as her mouth and eyes were wide open. In a statement, María Eugenia Maldonado Vite, who is an archaeologist at the INAH Veracruz Center and who is leading the excavation, went into further details about the statue, “The style of the young woman from Amajac is similar to representations of Huastec goddesses of the Earth and fertility, but with an external influence, possibly [the indigenous group] Nahua, as can be seen in the inlaid eye socket — a feature that does not belong to Classical Huasteca sculpture.” “In addition, the cloth that Huastec women present in front of the skirt is always smooth, and this one has an ornament of knots and ribbons on it.”
So who exactly was this mysterious woman depicted in the statue? She could have been an important member of society or “possibly a ruler, because of her posture and attire, rather than a deity,” as stated by Maldonado Vite.
The statue was found in a citrus field.
The statue is still currently in possession of the owners of the citrus orchard, although they are in talks with the INAH about possibly transferring ownership.
Further examinations of the statue are being planned by archaeologists. Future studies of the citrus orchard are also being talked about because while it was a previously unknown site to archaeologists, Maldonado Vite saw several small structures that could have possibly been residential buildings from the pre-Columbian era.

I have noticed that world news is constantly posting Biden with a halo photos all over news sites for the past month. At first I thought just a coincidence, but today I notice CNN, Fox News and Reuters all have halo Biden photos pasted on the front pages of their news sites.
This is very similar to the CIA Project MKUltra, which is the code name given to a program of experiments on human subjects that were designed and undertaken by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, some of which were illegal. I am really thinking that the CIA and NSA is involved with the fall of Trump and the rise of Biden. This is clearly a team involvement, meaning many news sites, many social sites all got together to try to not only black ball President Trump and take his power from him, but to also instill a sense of saint hood or angelic qualities about Biden himself. Mind games, mental manipulation, subliminal suggestions, all meant to control the publics perceptions of Trump and Biden. Worst of all...they are winning. The public of the world, not just America is buying it. Its working, but worst of all, it was so easy for the CIA to do. Remember when the CIA had President John F Kennedy killed to get him out of the way and that way the CIA and the USA could stay at war? Yeah...same thing, but different tactics. The worst part of it all, I analyzed the photos and they have been manipulated. Biden was cut out, made into a png formate, then pasted on a blurred background of his banner, so that his head was deliberately placed there to make this halo effect. These photos were then put up for sale for use on sites such as Shutterstock, Shutterfly, Adobe, istockphotos, and many other sites which journalists flock to to buy stock photos of Biden. The photos were manipulated! I can 100% confirm that.

NASA recently extended the life of two of its planetary discovery missions, including the Juno mission to Jupiter. Now it’s come to light Juno has discovered an FM signal emanating from one of the gas giant’s moons, Ganymede.
According to NASA, (Never A Straight Answer) the discovery is not an indication of extraterrestrial life, but it is fascinating nonetheless, given it’s the first time it’s been discovered coming from the celestial satellite.

This is a rare report. Its not often we get raw footage of a UFO from Thailand, but this is some great steady video of a black sphere. The sphere is not a perfect sphere but more like two cake bowls put together...and even has a rim around its middle. Such UFOs have been reported worldwide, but usually near power lines. You can really hear the surprise in the peoples voices as they watch this black object and try to figure out what it is. It's a UFO, no doubt about it.

The discovery is not an indication of extraterrestrial life, but it is fascinating nonetheless, given it's the first time it's been discovered coming from the celestial satellite.
"It’s not E.T.," Patrick Wiggins, one of NASA’s ambassadors to Utah, said in comments obtained by ABC 4. "It’s more of a natural function."

The spacecraft, which launched in 2011, happened to be traveling across Jupiter's polar region at a speed of 111,847 mph when it crossed the radio source, known as a "decametric radio emission," or simply Wi-Fi. It saw the radio emission for only five seconds, but it was enough time to confirm the source.
According to NASA, the decametric radio waves have frequencies between 10 and 40 MHz, but never above 40 MHz. "Electrons spiraling in Jupiter's magnetic field are thought to be the cause of the radio noise we hear," the space agency added.
Scientists have known about radio waves on Jupiter since the mid-1950s, but this is the first time the phenomenon has ever been seen emanating from Ganymede.
While notable, this is not the first time scientists have discovered strange occurrences on Ganymede. In 2018, researchers observed "extraordinary" electromagnetic waves, also known as "chorus waves," thanks to the Galileo Probe spacecraft.
Jupiter’s moon Ganymede has long fascinated astronomers—as it is the largest of the planet’s moons. In 2015, NASA's Hubble Space Telescope spotted evidence that Ganymede has an underground ocean.
The Juno mission launched in 2011 and was scheduled to stop functioning in July 2021 but will now continue until September 2025 or the end of its life, whichever comes first. Not only will Juno continue to observe the gas giant, but it will also look at the planet's rings and its moons, including "close flybys" of Ganymede, Europa and Io.

The idea of artificial intelligence overthrowing humankind has been talked about for many decades, and scientists have just delivered their verdict on whether we'd be able to control a high-level computer super-intelligence. The answer? Almost definitely not.
The catch is that controlling a super-intelligence far beyond human comprehension would require a simulation of that super-intelligence which we can analyse. But if we're unable to comprehend it, it's impossible to create such a simulation.
Rules such as 'cause no harm to humans' can't be set if we don't understand the kind of scenarios that an AI is going to come up with, suggest the authors of the new paper. Once a computer system is working on a level above the scope of our programmers, we can no longer set limits.
"A super-intelligence poses a fundamentally different problem than those typically studied under the banner of 'robot ethics'," write the researchers.
"This is because a superintelligence is multi-faceted, and therefore potentially capable of mobilising a diversity of resources in order to achieve objectives that are potentially incomprehensible to humans, let alone controllable."
Part of the team's reasoning comes from the halting problem put forward by Alan Turing in 1936. The problem centres on knowing whether or not a computer program will reach a conclusion and answer (so it halts), or simply loop forever trying to find one.
As Turing proved through some smart math, while we can know that for some specific programs, it's logically impossible to find a way that will allow us to know that for every potential program that could ever be written. That brings us back to AI, which in a super-intelligent state could feasibly hold every possible computer program in its memory at once.
Any program written to stop AI harming humans and destroying the world, for example, may reach a conclusion (and halt) or not – it's mathematically impossible for us to be absolutely sure either way, which means it's not containable.
"In effect, this makes the containment algorithm unusable," says computer scientist Iyad Rahwan, from the Max-Planck Institute for Human Development in Germany.
The alternative to teaching AI some ethics and telling it not to destroy the world – something which no algorithm can be absolutely certain of doing, the researchers say – is to limit the capabilities of the super-intelligence. It could be cut off from parts of the internet or from certain networks, for example.

The new study rejects this idea too, suggesting that it would limit the reach of the artificial intelligence – the argument goes that if we're not going to use it to solve problems beyond the scope of humans, then why create it at all?
If we are going to push ahead with artificial intelligence, we might not even know when a super-intelligence beyond our control arrives, such is its incomprehensibility. That means we need to start asking some serious questions about the directions we're going in.
"A super-intelligent machine that controls the world sounds like science fiction," says computer scientist Manuel Cebrian, from the Max-Planck Institute for Human Development. "But there are already machines that perform certain important tasks independently without programmers fully understanding how they learned it."
"The question therefore arises whether this could at some point become uncontrollable and dangerous for humanity."

Artificiële intelligentie zal voor een revolutie zorgen bij de diagnose, opvolging en behandeling van talrijke aandoeningen. Onder invloed van de technologische ontwikkelingen en vooruitgang rond onderzoek zal de groei van de AI-markt de komende decennia letterlijk exploderen. Laten we dit uitleggen.
Artificiële intelligentie zweeft vaak tussen mythe en realiteit, en roept heel wat droombeelden op in het collectieve onderbewustzijn. Dat neemt niet weg dat AI voor een enorme vooruitgang heeft gezorgd in de gezondheidszorg. Onderzoek, epidemiologie, preventie, diagnose, behandeling, enz. Er zijn talrijke toepassingsgebieden voor AI. De experts zijn unaniem: AI zal de kwaliteit, bruikbaarheid en efficiëntie van de gezondheidszorg verbeteren. AI zal bijdragen tot een betere behandeling en opvolging van talrijke aandoeningen en zal ook de kosten reduceren. Op middellange termijn zal de geneeskunde hierdoor voorspelbaarder, nauwkeuriger en meer op maat gesneden zijn.
De ongerustheid van de medische hulpverleners, die vaak als een hinderpaal werd beschouwd, begint geleidelijk weg te ebben. Uiteraard zal de menselijke factor belangrijk blijven, al was het maar omwille van verantwoordelijkheid. Artificiële intelligentie zal een belangrijk instrument worden ter ondersteuning van het beslissingsproces. Zo zal de arts het voorstel dat de machine doet al dan niet valideren, op basis van zijn kennis en ervaring. Een andere zekerheid is dat AI op zich niet voldoende is. Het is geen allesomvattende oplossing, want ze kan enkel antwoorden op één bepaalde vraag, waarvoor ze op voorhand 'getraind' werd. Van machine learning tot volledige autonomie valt er nog een hele weg af te leggen.
Veelbelovend werk
In de sector van de medische beeldvorming, die erg dynamisch is, vinden we vandaag de meest geslaagde projecten terug. Verschillende wetenschappelijke publicaties tonen immers aan dat bepaalde instrumenten in staat zijn om kankerletsels met onvoorstelbare nauwkeurigheid op te sporen, en in elk geval beter dan de conventionele methodes. Dat is zeker het geval voor de meest dodelijke kanker, met name longkanker, die elk jaar wereldwijd bijna twee miljoen doden tot gevolg heeft. Onderzoekers van de Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine en de wetenschappers van Google AI1 hebben samen een algoritme ontwikkeld dat in staat is om kwaadaardige knobbeltjes in de longen op te sporen, die soms enorm klein zijn, met een doeltreffendheid van 94,4%. Bij wijze van vergelijking was de foutenmarge hoger bij de zes radiologen die hadden deelgenomen aan deze studie, zowel voor de valse positieven (11%) als de valse negatieven (5%). Deze AI heeft twee concrete voordelen: enerzijds de vroegtijdige opsporing van de tumor, wat de kans op genezing verhoogt, en anderzijds het feit dat de nauwkeurige diagnose veel invasieve, risicovolle en dure medische onderzoeken overbodig maakt.
Volgens de WHO kunnen tegen 2050 152 miljoen mensen lijden aan dementie. Opmerkelijk feit: 70% van die mensen zou getroffen zijn door de ziekte van Alzheimer. Bij gebrek aan een genezende behandeling dient deze aandoening te worden behandeld zodra de eerste symptomen opduiken, om het neurodegeneratieve proces af te remmen. Ook op dit terrein kan artificiële intelligentie een erg belangrijke rol spelen, zoals blijkt uit een studie die werd uitgevoerd door de universiteit van San Francisco2. Op basis van een eenvoudige analyse van hersenscanners, kan hun algoritme de aanwezigheid van de pathologie aantonen, gemiddeld zes jaar vóór mensen dat kunnen.
Een enorme markt
Onder impuls van de technologische ontwikkelingen en vooruitgang rond onderzoek zal de AI-markt de komende decennia letterlijk exploderen. Het jongste rapport van het ReportLinker instituut zet deze thesis kracht bij.3. De markt, die in juni werd geschat op 4,9 miljard dollar, zou tegen 2026 kunnen uitgroeien tot 45,2 miljard, met een gemiddelde jaarlijkse groei van 44,9%. Dankzij de constant verbeterende rekenkracht kan het machine learning segment verbluffende resultaten opleveren. Versterkt door de sterke toename van gezondheidsdata, geldt dat ook voor de voorspellende analyse van het risico. Het gebrek aan goed opgeleide mensen en de terughoudendheid van de zorgverleners zijn echter de twee belangrijkste hinderpalen. Van welke prognoses we ook uitgaan, er tekent zich een duidelijke trend af. De afgelopen vijf jaar zijn er aanzienlijke investeringen gedaan, en daarom zullen de Verenigde Staten de voortrekkers zijn op deze markt.
Volgens PwC4 lzal de groei van artificiële intelligentie vooraf afhangen van de investeringsplannen van de bedrijven die hun activiteiten richten op gezondheid. De verspreiding ervan zal eveneens afhankelijk zijn van de mate waarin de bevolking AI omarmt. Ondernemers en gebruikers lijken er in zijn algemeenheid positief tegenover te staan. Zo zei 75% van de bevraagde bedrijfsleiders dat ze bereid zijn om op zeer korte termijn te investeren in AI. Dat is een strategische beslissing die vooral wordt ingegeven door de verwachte productiviteitsstijging, die wordt geschat op 15 tot 20%. 55% van de bevraagde patiënten ziet dan weer geen toegevoegde waarde in het gebruik van AI voor hun gezondheidszorg. Dit cijfer wijst op een gering enthousiasme, maar zal na verloop van tijd nog toenemen. Volgens bepaalde specialisten kan de uitrol van 5G de verandering sneller in gang zetten, door de toegang tot de technologie te vergemakkelijken en het gebruik ervan te democratiseren.
De hefbomen van de transformatie
Eén ding is zeker: de revolutie zal niet van de ene op de andere dag gebeuren. Artificiële intelligentie staat immers nog in zijn kinderschoenen. Bovendien is de winstgevendheid ervan relatief beperkt. De maturiteit van de toepassingen op de markt is op dit moment sterk uiteenlopend, ook in de gezondheidssector. De eerste toepassingen zullen in het beste geval pas binnen verschillende jaren operationeel zijn. Hoe veelbelovend ze ook mogen zijn, het blijft moeilijk om de wetenschappelijke hypothesen op erg grote schaal te testen.
Om het potentieel van AI optimaal te benutten, dient het ecosysteem ervan gestructureerd en geformaliseerd te worden, maar ook worden gestimuleerd en gefinancierd. De betrouwbaarheid en veiligheid van de ontwikkelde toepassingen worden uitdagingen met hoge prioriteit voor promotoren en investeerders. De mate waarin er toegevoegde waarde gecreëerd wordt en de ontwikkeling van een specifiek businessmodel zullen bepalende elementen zijn om deze nieuwe technieken te implementeren. Het zal bovendien absoluut nodig zijn om regelgeving te ontwikkelen specifiek bedoeld voor digitale toepassingen. Het wordt geen eenvoudige taak om de broodnodige bescherming van de individuele vrijheden en de beteugeling van potentieel innovatieve initiatieven voor de samenleving op elkaar af te stemmen. In realiteit zal de toekomst van artificiële intelligentie voor een groot deel afhankelijk zijn van het gebruik dat wordt gemaakt van de gezondheidsdata, die de brandstof zijn voor deze technologie.
Candriam is een bevoorrecht waarnemer van de ingrijpende veranderingen die plaatsvinden in de gezondheidszorg, en wil de ontwikkeling van de meest relevante en nuttige toepassingen voor de patiënten ondersteunen. Net zoals in de oftalmologie en de dermatologie is radiologie een van de medische disciplines die het meest ver gevorderd zijn op het terrein van artificiële intelligentie. Het beroep, dat al geruime tijd ingrijpend aan het veranderen is, zal onmiskenbaar reactiever, doeltreffender en nauwkeuriger worden. De mogelijke voordelen liggen voor de hand, op de eerste plaats de vroegtijdige opsporing van bepaalde kankers, die sneller kunnen worden behandeld. Op basis van een hele reeks beelden kan AI ook de voorspellende markers van een bepaalde pathologie in kaart brengen. AI kan ook statistische inzichten bieden in de protocolering van een noodzakelijk onderzoek, afhankelijk van de patiënt, zijn/haar voorgeschiedenis of biologische situatie.
De preventie met betrekking tot gezondheidszorg is echter niet het enige voordeel. Artificiële intelligentie heeft immers ook een onmiskenbaar praktische kant. AI kan immers ook fungeren als een medische second opinion, die de oorspronkelijke diagnose van de radioloog ontkracht of bevestigt. Dankzij de automatisering van bepaalde taken zal er bovendien meer tijd vrijkomen voor het onderzoek, met het concrete vooruitzicht om meer patiënten te kunnen controleren. Symbolisch is dat een ruimere benutting van beeldvormingsdata het onderzoek, de opleiding en ook de technologische ontwikkeling kan bevorderen.
De Verenigde Staten: de toekomstige voortrekkers op het vlak van AI in de gezondheidszorg?
Volgens het kantoor Frost & Sullivan* zal de wereldwijde markt voor digitale gezondheidszorg tegen 2023 goed zijn voor 243,5 miljard dollar. Dat is een groei van 160% in vier jaar. Opmerkelijk is dat artificiële intelligentie een van de belangrijkste aanjagers is van die verwachte groei. De gemaakte keuzes geven een duidelijke indicatie van de meest veelbelovende segmenten. De afgelopen vijf jaar zijn de sectorinvesteringen vooral gegaan naar medische beeldvorming en diagnostica (20,7%), onderzoek naar potentiële geneesmiddelen (18,6%), de ontdekking van nieuwe werkingsmechanismen (10,3%), de real-time verzameling en analyse van gegevens (18,1%) en genetica (10,8%). De Verenigde Staten, die erg actief zijn op dit vlak, zijn goed voor driekwart van de toegezegde investeringen (73,3%), op ruime afstand gevolgd door China (14,8%) en het Verenigd Koninkrijk (3,8%). De experts laten er geen misverstand over bestaan: de volgende vijf jaar worden cruciaal, want dan moet het potentieel van deze strategische markt tot uiting komen. In een snel evoluerend landschap zullen overnames en partnerships op het vlak van IT en technologie belangrijke competitieve voordelen worden voor de bedrijven.

Wormholes, or theoretical bridges connecting distant points in spacetime, are quickly being plucked from the realm of science fiction and brought into scientific reality.
In recent years, scientists have made significant progress toward making sense of these hypothetical warp tunnels. Pointing to all that research, Liverpool John Moores University astrophysicist Andreea Font argues in a new essay in The Conversation that it seems increasingly likely that real people might one day travel through them. If she’s right, that might mean someday being able to travel faster than light — or even through time.
Coming Through!
Of course, there are lots of caveats here — especially since existing research on wormholes is of course far more theoretical than practical.
For instance, Font points out that it would take something called negative energy in order to stretch a wormhole open wide enough for a spacecraft to travel through — but that only minuscule amounts of negative energy have been generated in a lab.
So, is it theoretically possible? Sure! But is it feasible with today’s technology? Certainly not. And with tomorrow’s tech? Well, that remains to be seen.
Looking Ahead
But the recent surge of research into wormholes suggests that the things that currently seem impossible may not always remain that way, Font argues, as more scientists publish work on the exotic cosmic structures and the possibility of traveling through them.
“Wormholes are still in the realm of the imagination,” Font wrote in The Conversation. “But some scientists think we will soon be able to find them, too.”

Where are these manuscripts? We don’t know, but we try to get closer to the truth, because the truth is the only thing that will set us free.
In anticipation of the government’s official UFO report coming in less than six monthsthanks to the COVID-19 omnibus bill, you can now download all of the publicly available CIA documentation on UFOs.
The Black Vault, a clearinghouse for declassified documents, has released a downloadable document archive filled with PDFs containing CIA files on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), the government's preferred term. . Some of the reports date all the way back to the 1980s, and according to the site's founder, John Greenewald Jr., the spy agency claims this is all of its documents on UAPs.
According to Greenewald, around 10,000 Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) reports were required to obtain the PDFs and the process was an excruciatingly long one. He scanned the documents by hand.
“Around 20 years ago, I had fought for years to get additional UFO records released from the CIA,” Greenewald said in an email to Motherboard. “It was like pulling teeth! I went around and around with them to try and do so, finally achieving it. I received a large box, of a couple thousand pages, and I had to scan them in one page at a time.”
According to a blog announcing the archive, the CIA created a CD-ROM containing previously released records as well as those the Black Vault was attempting to unseal. To ensure the Black Vault has as complete a record of CIA documents as possible available, it purchased this CD-ROM in mid-2020.
The Black Vault blog notes that the CIA claims that this represents all its documents on the file, but there may be no way to verify that and other documents may be out there.
“Researchers and curious minds alike prefer simplicity and accessibility when they look at data dumps such as these,” Greenewald said. “The CIA has made it INCREDIBLY difficult to use their records in a reasonable manner. They offer a format that is very outdated (multi page .tif) and offer text file outputs, largely unusable, that I think they intend to have people use as a “search” tool. In my opinion, this outdated format makes it very difficult for people to see the documents, and use them, for any research purpose.”
One of the most interesting documents in the drop, Greenewald said, involved the Assistant Deputy Director for Science & Technology being hand-delivered some piece of information on a UFO in the 1970s.
The first UFO information to be declassified under FOIA laws came in the 1970s and early 1980s. After this, Greenewald said it was exceptionally difficult to obtain information from the government regarding extraterrestrial phenomena.
“Plain and simple, the public has a right to know!” Greenewald said. “When I began researching nearly 25 years ago at the age of 15, I knew there was something to this topic. Not because of viral internet hoaxes. Not because of back door meetings wherein I can’t tell you who, but I promise it was mind-blowing information. No, none of that. It was simply because of the evidence that I got straight from the CIA. And the NSA. And the Air Force. And the DIA. I feel I am achieving what I set out to do. Easy access, to important material, for people to make up their own minds on what is going on.”

Keck Observatory and NSF’s NOIRLab both announced on January 12, 2021, that astronomers have located an object that sets a new record for being the most distant quasar and thus the most distant supermassive black hole. They said they’re seeing the quasar – labeled J0313-1806 – just 670 million years after the Big Bang, or more than 13 billion light-years away. It’s estimated to be some 1,000 times more luminous than our Milky Way galaxy, which is why we can still see it across such a great distance. This object is thought to be powered by what’s now the earliest known supermassive black hole in our universe, weighing in at more than 1.6 billion times the mass of our sun. Astronomers released this result this week at the January 2021 virtual meeting of the American Astronomical Society.
The astronomers didn’t just investigate the quasar’s distance; they also found a high-velocity wind apparently flowing from the central supermassive black hole at some 20% of light-speed.
When astronomers first began seeing quasars in the 1950s, they gave them a name that means quasi-stellar (star-like) radio source. In other words, radio telescopes first spotted them, and the first optical telescopes saw them as point-like, like stars. But by the 1960s and ’70s, quasars’ spectra had revealed them to be exceedingly distant. And astronomers wondered how such distant objects could emit such copious amounts of radiation and still be visible from so far away.
That’s when the idea of quasars being powered by supermassive black holes began to take hold. Now, as explained by Keck Observatory, quasars are seen as:
… the feeding frenzies of colossal supermassive black holes … the most energetic objects in the universe. They occur when gas in the superheated accretion disk around a supermassive black hole is inexorably drawn inwards, radiating light across theelectromagnetic spectrum.
The amount of energy emitted by quasars is enormous, with the most massive examples easily outshining entire galaxies.
Quasars are typically so distant that astronomers don’t speak of their distances in light-years. A distance in light-years can only be inferred, not measured directly. What can be measured is the object’s redshift, which correlates to its distance. Quasar JO313-1806 has a record-setting redshift of z = 7.64.
Astronomers who made this new measurement said that the presence of such a massive black hole so early in the universe’s history challenges theories of black hole formation. Feige Wang, a NASA Hubble fellow at the University of Arizona and lead author of the research paper, explained:
Black holes created by the very first massive stars could not have grown this large in only a few hundred million years.
In addition to weighing the monster black hole, the Keck Observatory and Gemini North observations uncovered an extremely fast outflow emanating from the quasar in the form of a high-velocity wind traveling at 20% of the speed of light. Astronomer Jinyi Yang at the University of Arizona – a co-author on the new paper – commented:
The energy released by such an extreme high-velocity outflow is large enough to impact the star formation in the entire quasar host galaxy.
The astronomers said this is:
… the earliest known example of a quasar sculpting the growth of its host galaxy, making J0313-1806 a promising target for future observations.
The galaxy hosting J0313-1806’s is undergoing a spurt of star formation, producing new stars 200 times faster than the Milky Way. The combination of this intense star formation, the luminous quasar, and the high-velocity outflow make J0313-1806 and its host galaxy a promising natural laboratory for understanding the growth of supermassive black holes and their host galaxies in the early universe.
Wang added:
This would be a great target to investigate the formation of the earliest supermassive black holes. We also hope to learn more about the effect of quasar outflows on their host galaxy, as well as to learn how the most massive galaxies formed in the early universe.
Astronomers Feige Wang and Jinyi Yang, both of Steward Observatory at the University of Arizona, helped measure the distance for quasar J0313-1806, the current record-holder for the most distant quasar known in our universe.

The 21st century is the urban century. It has been forecast that urban areas across the world will have expanded by more than 2.5 billion people by 2050.
The scale and speed of urbanisation has created significant environmental and health problems for urban dwellers. These problems are often made worse by a lack of contact with the natural world.
With research group the Tree Urbanistas, I have been considering and debating how to solve these problems. By 2119, it is only through re-establishing contact with the natural world, particularly trees, that cities will be able to function, be viable and able to support their populations.
Future cities
The creation of urban forests will make cities worth living in, able to function and support their populations: Treetopias.
This re-design will include the planting of many more urban trees and other vegetation – and making use of new, more creative methods. Although we didn’t fully realise it at the time, the 1986 Hundertwasserhaus in Vienna, a building that incorporated 200 trees in its design, was the start of more creative urban forestry thinking.

This has been carried on in Stefano Boeri’s Bosco Verticale apartments in downtown Milan, which incorporates over 800 trees as part of the building. Similar structures are being developed around the world, such as in Nanjing in China and Utrecht in The Netherlands.
The urban forest needs to be designed as a first principle, part of the critical infrastructure of the whole city, not just as a cosmetic afterthought. We know for example that in 2015, urban forest in the UK saved the NHS over £1 billion by helping to reduce the impact of air pollutants. In 2119, we may well look back on this present time as the equivalent of the Victorian slum.
Trees can create places which can greatly improve our health and well-being. Our urban forest can give us the spaces and places to help manage our mental health and improve our physical health. Research has indicated for example that increasing the canopy cover of a neighbourhood by 10% and creating safe, walkable places can reduce obesity by as much as 18%.

As rural areas become less productive as a result of climate change, cities – which previously consumed goods and services from a large hinterland – will have to become internally productive. Trees will be at the centre of that, contributing to the city energy balance through cooling, regulating and cleaning our air and water flows, and ensuring that our previously neglected urban soils function healthily.
Urban forests could also provide timber for building. We have a history of productive woodlands in the UK, yet alternative construction materials and a growth in an urban population with less knowledge of forest management means that the urban forest is rarely viewed as productive. We are now recognising the potential productivity of the urban forest, as campaigns to stimulate homegrown timber markets and achieve more efficient management efficiencies are proving to be successful.
Furthermore, economic growth is still deemed to be the prime symbol of the effectiveness of a city, but we need to be equally aware of other invisible values. This will open up new approaches to governance. Governance needs to embrace all forms of value in a balanced way and facilitate a new vision, considering how trees can help create liveable cities.
New opportunities
As the urban population rises, we need to get better at understanding the breadth and diversity of the values held about our urban forest. Individual people can hold several distinct values at once, as urban forests may contribute to their wellbeing in different ways.
The current guardians of our urban forest, mainly local authority tree officers, spend much of their time managing risks rather than maximising the opportunities of trees. They often receive complaints about trees and tree management, and it can sometimes be difficult to remember that people do care about trees. We need to develop viable partnerships between tree managers, community members and businesses to support trees in our cities.
Although the canopy cover of cities worldwide is currently falling, this is not the case in Europe, where it is increasing. Many European countries are acknowledging the fact that we have over-designed our towns and cities to accommodate the car, and now it is time to reclaim the public realm for our people – either pedestrians on foot or on bicycles.
Creative developments like the Hundertwasserhaus are not the only answer to creating Treetopia. We are and will continue to plant more street trees, urban groves and informal clusters of trees in our parks and green spaces. Treetopia has begun.
