A stunned motorist spotted a strange UFO flying across the road she was driving along - close to a military base.

Junelyn Bitalac, 22, was returning from dropping her mum off at work in Hastings, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia, on the morning of May 28 when she noticed the black object hovering in the sky.

Pulling over to take a closer look, the personal care assistant and mum-of-one was shocked to see a disk approximately 16ft (5m) in diameter travelling quickly and smoothly through the clear blue skies.

Following its flight path religiously, Junelyn's unbelievable footage captures the aircraft clearly as it passed over power lines before disappearing behind some trees.

Online commenters were quick to point out Hastings is just 6km away from naval military base HMAS Cerberus on the Mornington Peninsula.

Junelyn, from Carrum Downs, Melbourne, said: "I really do believe in aliens and extra-terrestrial life so I was quite amazed to spot what I saw - that's why I pulled out my phone straight away.

"I was just randomly looking into the sky while I was driving and noticed the strange round object, so I decided to pull over and film it.

"I have never seen anything like it and have no clue what it was.

"But it is very interesting that I spotted it so close to a military base.

"Everyone who has watched the clip said it was very unusual.

"It was after I dropped my mom to work and I was on the way home, so I was just by myself that time.

"I had no idea where it went after I filmed it, because I got distracted by the car approaching towards me."

Junelyn, who is originally from the Philippines and moved to Australia in 2010, said she did not realise her strange siting was so close to a naval base until she posted her clip to social media.

But the 22-year-old said she is a firm believer in alien life, and claims this is not the first time she has spotted a UFO.

She added: "This is not the first time I have spotted a UFO - another time about three years ago I was in Carrum Downs when I spotted three triangular-shaped objects moving very quickly overhead, but they disappeared before I was able to film them.
