An equation to quantify the origins of life on other planets

Back in the 1960's, an astronomer named Frank Drake came up with a formula for estimating the likely number of alien civilizations that might be capable of transmitting radio signals in such a way as to be recognizable by receivers here on earth. That equation, named quite naturally the Drake Equation has been the unofficial standard-bearer for half a century, despite it having no solution because some of the parameters are still unknown. The same holds true for the new equation developed by Scharf and Cronin, but the results given should the unknowns ever be discovered would offer a different sort of answer than Drake was looking for.

To build their formula, the duo came up with several parameters to solve for abiogenesis, which is the likelihood of an event occurring that leads to life beginning, they included the number of possible building blocks, the mean number of such blocks per possible organism, the availability of building blocks that might exist during a given time period, expressed as a fraction and the probability that the existence of the building blocks would actually lead to life starting in a given unit of time. It looks like this:

In essence the formula is meant to suggest that the probability of life beginning on a given planet is very likely connected to whether there are building blocks available on a given planet, and how much of them there might be. As more is learned by space researchers it is hoped that the formula could help narrow down search targets by offering a statistical probability of success for a given planet. The researchers note that the building blocks available do not necessarily have to be of the type that led to life beginning on our planet. They also suggest that implied in the formula is the likelihood that life beginning events are more likely to occur in solar systems where there are multiple planets, which allow for an opportunity to share materials that could lead to building blocks.

Abstract 
A simple, heuristic formula with parallels to the Drake Equation is introduced to help focus discussion on open questions for the origins of life in a planetary context. This approach indicates a number of areas where quantitative progress can be made on parameter estimation for determining origins of life probabilities, based on constraints from Bayesian approaches. We discuss a variety of "microscale" factors and their role in determining "macroscale" abiogenesis probabilities on suitable planets. We also propose that impact ejecta exchange between planets with parallel chemistries and chemical evolution could in principle amplify the development of molecular complexity and abiogenesis probabilities. This amplification could be very significant, and both bias our conclusions about abiogenesis probabilities based on the Earth and provide a major source of variance in the probability of life arising in planetary systems. We use our heuristic formula to suggest a number of observational routes for improving constraints on origins of life probabilities.

Helvetius, the grandfather of the celebrated philosopher of the same name, was an alchemist who labored ceaselessly to fathom the mystery of the “philosopher’s stone,” the legendary catalyst that would transmute base metals into gold.

One day in 1666 when he was working in his laboratory at the Hague, a stranger attired all in black, as befitted a respectable burgher of North Holland, appeared and informed him that he would remove all the alchemist’s doubts about the existence of the philosopher’s stone, for he himself possessed such an object.

 

 

The stranger immediately drew from his pocket a small ivory box, containing three pieces of metal the color of brimstone. With those three bits of metal, he said, he could make as much as twenty tons of gold.

 

The alchemist examined the pieces of metal and seeing that they were very brittle, he surreptitiously scraped off a small portion with his thumbnail. He then returned the three pieces of metal to his mysterious visitor and invited him to perform the process of transmutation.

 

The stranger answered that he was not allowed to do so. It was enough that he had verified the existence of the metal to Helvetius. It was his purpose only to offer him encouragement in his experiments.

 

After the man’s departure, Helvetius procured a crucible and a portion of lead, into which, when in a state of fusion, he threw the stolen grain he had secretly scraped from the alleged philosopher’s stone. He was disappointed to find that the grain evaporated, leaving the lead in its original state.

 

Thinking that he had been made a fool by the mad burgher’s whimsy, Helvetius returned to his own experiments in attaining the philosopher’s stone.

 

Some weeks later, when he had almost forgotten the incident, Helvetius received another visit from the stranger. Impatiently, the alchemist told the man that if he could not do as he claimed, then please leave the laboratory at once.

 

“Very well,” the stranger said, consenting to perform a demonstration of the philosopher’s stone for the skeptical Helvetius. “I shall show you that that which you most desire does truly exist.”

 

The mysterious visitor said that one grain was sufficient, but it was necessary to envelope it in a ball of wax before throwing it on the molten metal; otherwise, its extreme volatility would cause it to vaporize.

 

To Helvetius’s astonishment, the stranger transmuted several ounces of lead into gold. Then he permitted the alchemist to repeat the experiment by himself, and Helvetius converted six ounces of lead into very pure gold.

 

 

Helvetius found it impossible to keep a secret of such immense value and importance. Soon the word of the alchemist’s remarkably successful experiments spread all over the Hague, and Helvetius demonstrated the power of the philosopher’s stone in the presence of the Prince of Orange, and many times afterward, until he had exhausted the supply of catalytic pieces that he received from the mysterious burgher.

 

And search as he might, Helvetius could not find the man in all of North Holland nor learn his name. And pray as he might, the stranger never again visited Helvetius in his study.

 

Down through the centuries, very mysterious individuals have appeared at certain moments in human history and provided convincing demonstrations that “impossible” inventions are possible.

 

The “respectable burgher of North Holland” appeared “modest and simple” to the alchemist Helvetius.

 

It was his incredible knowledge that startled and inspired the alchemists of Helvetius’s day, and though these learned and determined men never did acquire the philosopher’s stone that would transmute lead into gold, they did fashion the seeds of the science of chemistry that has accomplished so many transmutations of the human environment and the human condition in the last three hundred years.

 

Out of the smoky laboratories of the alchemists,

 

• Albert le Grand produced potassium lye
• Raymond Lully prepared bicarbonate of potassium
• Paracelsus described zinc and introduced chemical compounds in medicine
• Blaise Vigenere discovered benzoic acid
• Basil Valentine perfected sulfuric acid
• Johann Friedrich Boetticher became the first European to produce porcelain

While each of the above is an important discovery, there are rumors that lying amidst the musty pages of certain ancient alchemical laboratories there are recorded experiments with photography, radio transmission, phonography, and aerial flight.
 

Throughout the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, there were many scholars who claimed that they had received late-night visits from mysterious members of a secret society that had accomplished the transmutation of metals, the means of prolonging life, the knowledge to see and to hear what was occurring in distant places, and the ability to travel across the heavens in heavier-than-air vehicles.

 

Some students of the history of alchemy have stated that crumbling, yellowed records of the alchemists remain in dusty libraries – more than 100,000 ancient volumes written in a code that has never been sufficiently deciphered.

Strange Clouds Over CERN: Portals to another dimension opens above the LHC?

What are the mysterious clouds photographed over CERN? Is this another mind-bending experiment that tries to open portals to another dimension? In the past, scientists at CERN used the LHC to ‘connect’ with a Parallel universe outside our own.

It seems that unusual phenomena are continuing to occur in the vicinity of Geneve near the Large Hadron Collider. According to a set of images and videos, strange clouds appear over the LHC, which has sent the internet into a  frenzy suggesting the enigmatic phenomenon could, in fact, be a portal to another dimension.

 

The Jaw-dropping images taken above CERN’s Large Hadron Collider are truly fascinating. But are they connected to the mystery experiments that are taking place below the surface? And is it really possible for CERN to open up portals to another dimension?

 

The images alone with a fancy title have proposed all kinds speculation. Apparently, the images were taken on June 24th, the exact same day CERN was conducting a new experiment called AWAKE. The AWAKE experiment, which is also known as the “Proton Driven Plasma Wakefield Acceleration Experiment,” aims to use a whole new method that will get particles going much faster in a shorter amount of time. However, results of this experiment are not expected until 2018.

 

CERN is the world’s most powerful particle accelerator placed inside a ring-shaped 27 kilometer-long underground tunnel located at the Swiss and the French border. The facility was built between 1998 and 2008 and allows physicists to test various theories.

In the past, it is well-known that CERN has carried out experiments creating artificial clouds to better understand global warming.

 

The video that caused a massive uproar on social networks was uploaded to YouTube on June 27th by YouTube Channel Freedom Fighter Times. Called What portal did CERN open now? Strange Clouds Hover Above the LCH,” the video has ignited a massive debate whether or not CERN scientists are actually opening up portals to another dimension.

 

But… do another dimension actually exist? Or have users on the internet gone too far now?

 

Well, according to a document released by the FBI, other dimensions DO exist, and we have even been visited by ‘beings’ from those dimensions. According to declassified report released by the FBI, not only are we being visited by Alien beings from other worlds, but we have been visited by “beings from other dimensions.” The official link from the FBI vault can be found here

 

These “entities” that could “materialize” on our planet appeared as giant translucent figures.

 

But let’s get back to CERN and the so-called portals being opened above the facility.

 

 

 

In the video uploaded by YouTube Channel Freedom Fighter Times, the narrator states:

• “It [the image] is not a background you can get on Google,” the narrator says in the video. “It is an actual picture taken on June 24, 2016. It is directly over CERN, and the cloud formation is fascinating.”
• “The energy that is being produced, you can actually see that minus the lightning strikes,” he continues.
•  “How much energy did CERN pull into itself?” he asks. “Is this why the weather is so crazy all over the planet? There are many other colliders all over the world.”

But can CERN actually open up portals to other dimensions if they do exist?

 

Well, it turns out that they can. Scientists at CERN want to use the Large Hadron Collider to better understand the fundamental forces of our universe, how it was created and where the universe is going. They aim to recreate the Big Bang and discovered what kind of matter existed at the exact moment our universe came into existence. However, they also look forward to FIND other dimensions and open up ‘gateways’ or portals to these dimensions.

 

 

 

Last year, scientists conducting a mindboggling experiment at the Large Hadron Collider stated that they hope to ‘connect’ with a Parallel universe outside our own.

 

Scientists at CERn said: „It is even possible that gravity from our own universe may ‘leak’ into this parallel universe.“

 

Mir Faizal, one of the three-strong team of physicists behind the experiment, said: “Just as many parallel sheets of paper, which are two-dimensional objects [breadth and length] can exist in a third dimension [height], parallel universes can also exist in higher dimensions.

 

• “We predict that gravity can leak into extra dimensions, and if it does, then miniature black holes can be produced at the LHC.

• “Normally, when people think of the multiverse, they think of the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics, where every possibility is actualized.

• “This cannot be tested, and so it is philosophy and not science.
• “This is not what we mean by parallel universes. What we mean is real universes in extra dimensions.
• “As gravity can flow out of our universe into the extra dimensions, such a model can be tested by the detection of mini-black holes at the LHC.
• “We have calculated the energy at which we expect to detect these mini black holes in ‘gravity’s rainbow’ [a new scientific theory].
• “If we do detect mini black holes at this energy, then we will know that both gravity’s rainbow and extra dimensions are correct.”

 

A mindboggling fact: Did you know that when the LHC is fired up the energy is measured in Tera electron volts – a TeV is 1,000,000,000,000, or one trillion, electron Volts.

Leaked documents: Conclusive proof UFO crashed to Earth?

A recently leaked document is considered  as conclusive proof that UFOs have visited and crashed on Earth. The document which dates back to 1968 states: “…Examination revealed the exhibit had likely formed part of a vehicle that travelled in outer space.”

A highly-classified document leaked by a Ufologist is considered as one of the world’s first conclusive pieces of evidence of extraterrestrial vehicles discovered on our planet.

 

The United States Government is set out to charge a top UFO researchers after he decided to go public with an Alien Wikileaks of eleven highly classified UFO files from the United States and Canada.

 

The leaked documents revealed at the first Canadian National Inquiry into UFOs in Brantford, Ontario, Canada are part of a highly secret memo which dates back to 1968.

 

The document of the Criminal Investigation Burea (CIB) F Division is called “Re UFO found in Northern Saskatchewan.”

 

The document details how in October of 1968, a J. Hodges, regional representative of the Associate Committee on meteorites of the National Research Council of Canada received a small metal fragment discovered by an unnamed pilot of the CDL (Crime Detection Laboratory. The metallic piece was discovered in the Wollaston Lake area, some 450 miles from Prince Albert, near the Manitoba border.

 

According to the leaked file: “Examination revealed the exhibit had likely formed part of a vehicle that travelled in outer space.”

 

However, it remains a mystery if or what additional examinations were carried out on the object. According to the memo, the object was to be taken for further analysis at the National Research Council in Ottowa.

 

In addition to the leaked file, images from the object were also believed to have been taken but are yet to be displayed to national media.

 

According to UFO researchers, this document is one of the best pieces of evidence supporting the fact that in our long history, Earth has been visited by intelligent alien civilizations from elsewhere in the cosmos.

 

However, skeptics argue that without additional information, there is not enough data to suggest the material is not from a man-made object like a satellite or space rocket sent into space by humans and eventually re-entered Earth’s atmosphere.

 

The idea that advanced extraterrestrial beings have visited Earth for millennia is something that has become widely accepted in the last decade. This is mostly due to the high number of individuals like former astronauts and government officials who have come forward speaking about Alien life and the UFO phenomenon.

 

In the last year, the Disclosure movement has gained a lot of supporters who eagerly await documents like the one presented here, which will undoubtedly help get to the bottom of whether or not we have been visited by beings, not from Earth.

Chinese archaeologists have found the remains of Buddha’s skull

Chinese archaeologists have found a stone chest and a skull fragment that they believe belonged to Buddha, aka Siddhartha Gautama, founder of Buddhism. The bone fragment was found beneath the Temple Great Bao’en, within a model of a Stupa made of sandalwood, silver and gold, which was stored in a box which in turn was inside a stone chest.

A fascinating discovery has been made in China.  Archaeologists believe they have found the fragments of Buddha’s skull under a Buddhist temple in Nanjing, China.

 

Chinese scientists believe the parietal bone fragment of the skull found in a stone chest under a Buddhist temple in Nanking, could belong to Buddha, reports Chinese Cultural Relics magazine.

 

The bone fragment was found beneath the Temple Great Bao’en, within a model of a Stupa made of sandalwood, silver and gold, which was stored in a box which in turn was inside a stone chest. The stupa was decorated with lotus patterns, pictures of phoenixes and gods with mighty swords. According to Live Science, the shrine is a box 117 cm tall and 45 cm wide (4 feet by 1.5 feet) made from sandalwood, gold and silver with jewels embedded and contained the bone inside.

 

Researchers say the inscriptions engraved on the stone chest indicate that the bone belonged to Siddhartha Gautama, founder of Buddhism. They were written about 1,000 years ago by someone by the name of Deming.

 

The writing indicates that Demin, who was “Master of Perfect Enlightenment, abbot of the monastery Chengtian and head of the purple robe” retained the bone fragment time after Buddha ‘entered Paranirvana’ when the cycle of death and rebirth breaks.

 

Inscriptions found on the stone chest suggest the model was created during the reign of Emperor Zhenzong (A.D. 997-1022) during the Song Dynasty. Researchers say that also inscribed on the chest are the names of people who donated money and material to build the model, as well as the names of the builders of it.

 

According to Deming, a ruler of India at that time, King Ashoka, ” chose to preserve the remains of Buddha, and divided them into 84,000 parts.” China writes the inscription, received 19 of those parts, including the parietal bone that had remained in a temple that was destroyed some 1,400 years ago during turbulent times when wars were waging in the region.

 

• “The foundation ruins … were scattered in the weeds,” Deming wrote. “In this time of turbulence, did no one care for Buddhist affairs?”
• According to inscriptions by Deming, Emperor Zhenzong decided that it was best to rebuild the temple and Buddha’s parietal bone, and the remains of other Buddhist saints buried underground in a crypt at the temple.
• Deming wrote they were interred on July 21, 1011, A.D., in “a most solemn and elaborate burial ceremony.”

 

This model of a stupa, which is usually used for meditation, was found hidden beneath Grand Bao’en Temple in Nanjing, China.

The 1,000-year-old stupa was created from sandalwood, silver and gold.

In the inscriptions, Deming also praised the emperor for rebuilding the temple and burying the remains of Buddha. Daming  wished the emperor a long life, loyal subjects and many grandchildren: “May the Heir Apparent and the imperial princes be blessed and prosperous with 10,000 offspring; may Civil and Military Ministers of the Court be loyal and patriotic; may the three armed forces and citizens enjoy a happy and peaceful time …”

 

While the inscriptions say that the skull fragment belongs to the Buddha, it still remains a mystery whether or not it really does come from him. So far, according to archaeologists, there shouldn’t be any doubts about it researchers beleive the skull fragment did belong to Buddha. Researchers have found that engraved on the outside of the model are numerous images depicting Buddha, in addition to a number of scenes that illustrate stories from the life of Buddha, ranging from his birth to the point when he reached the so-called “parinirvana.”

 

The bone fragment is being treated with great respect and has been interred in the modern-day Qixia Temple by Buddhist monks.

 

Researchers from the Municipal Institute of Archaeology of Nanking excavated the crypt between 2007 and 2010. They were supported by a large number of experts from all China who helped in the recovery process. 

 

The news of the discovery was not covered extensively by Western media but received great interest in

China.

 

The gold chest containing the ancient relics were held within a larger silver chest (seen in this image). Ancient artists engraved in the gold and silver boxes images of lotus flowers, phoenixes and guardians of the box.

White glowing orbs seen over Shrewsbury, UK on July 4, 2016, Video, UFO Sighting News.

Here is an awesome catch last night of some glowing orbs moving about in the sky. They are not planes or helicopters, because they don't have the aircraft warning lights. These orbs seem to be moving very high and if you make this full screen, you can see many others near it off and on.

UFO Disk Being Hauled Down Freeway Almost Hits Overpass, July 2016, Video, UFO Sighting News

This UFO was being hauled by a really run down semi truck and add to the fact that he was moving so fast that he almost hit the overpass as he went under it. He is in a hurry, and having a UFO on your trailer and gov officials waiting for it...its no wonder why he is moving so fast. Then again, maybe some guy found this landed on his farm and he just wanted to load it up on one of his trucks and take it to the local Air Force Base to have them check it out.

The Hidden Truth about Falcon Lake Landing In 1967

A UFO is any extraterrestrial spacecraft that is unidentified. Therefore, there are plenty of UFOs. If you ask if it has to be an alien craft, the answer is “No”. Since in 1940’s, not all have been highly regarded as an advanced craft. The UFO incident in Falcon Lake that took place on May 19, 1967, in Canada is an event which skeptics and believers have been splitting hairs for decades. On one hand, many believe Stephen Michalak’s story about confronting a UFO. Skeptics believe that the story is a hoax.

Michalak is a mechanic but used to be an amateur geologist. While enjoying days off, he decided to do prospecting near Falcon Lake, Manitoba, when he spotted two UFOs, with one landed on a huge, flat rock about 160 feet from him. As he looked, one of the objects stopped, but hovered later on, while the other descended on a huge flat rock about 160 feet from him. Minutes later, the object changed from red to orange and to grey as it flew in the west. Later on, it disappeared behind the clouds. The object on the ground turned to grey and lastly to “hot stainless steel” enclosed by a golden-hued glow. While chipping at the quartz to guard his eyes against flying fragments, he had been wearing welding goggles. Now, they served the purpose of protecting his eyes from a purple light that shines through openings in the exterior part of the object.

The object was making a whirring noise, and a hissing sound and it gave off a sulfurous smell. After approaching the object and looked inside, it moved, and release an exhaust vent in front of him. Afterwards, there was a hot gas shot from these holes to his chest, setting his undershirt on fire and leaving him burns and severe pain in the shape of a grid. Finally, he reached the motel. Michalak decided to return to Winnipeg than go to Ontario for the doctor. He arrived in Winnipeg at 10:15 p.m., and he was sent to the Misericordia Hospital, where his nausea and headache were treated. The burn marks on his chest were noted.

'UFO' spotted hovering near Bangor reported to police

As part of North Wales X-Files series, Steve Bagnall looks at the theories surrounding an unidentified object spotted in the skies over Gwynedd

In 2010 witnesses claimed to have seen a strange triangular craft hovering near Bangor .

It was allegedly up to 200ft wide, had numerous lights and made a noise like a lawn mower before vanishing out of sight baffling the on-lookers.

The sighting was one of 13 reported to North Wales Police between 2004-2010 which were revealed under a Freedom of Information request.

Documents show that police were told by the observer: “A large, black triangular shaped craft appeared ‘out of nowhere’.

“The craft was of a large scale, approximately 150ft-200ft wide, had a central light, and numerous glowing bright lights on either side (white, blue and red).

“It was hovering slowly at a very low altitude (a few feet above the height of a telephone pole). It made a noise similar to that of a lawnmower.”

The object “made no attempt to avoid detection” as it hovered above the group, “proceeded to cross the field” then after 90 seconds vanished out of sight.

Apparently there were three witnesses who saw the odd vessel, about 40 feet above their heads and they also reported it to the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

After the sightings were revealed under the FOI, a North Wales Police spokesman told the Daily Post: “We take a note of these calls on UFOs. It depends on the circumstances as to how we respond.

“If there are lights in the sky we might contact HM Coastguard to see if they are flares. In other instances we may let the RAF know.

“But we would prioritise each call depending on the information received.”

So what could have happened that day in Bangor?

It is not the first time strange triangular craft have been seen in the skies around the world.

Skeptics may say the report was made up or it was a normal object in the sky mis-identified.

If the story is a true account of what the people saw close up an then others may argue it could be a man made experimental craft.

However the possibility remains, some may argue, this was of extraterrestrial origin.

The MoD has withdrawn its dedicated UFO hotline answer-phone service and e-mail address.

It has said it no longer investigates sightings which would be an “inappropriate use of defence resources”.

With the use of sonar, oceanographer Dr. Meyer Verlag discovered giant glass pyramids at a depth of two-thousand meters. The use of other devices have allowed scientists to determine that these glass giants are both made of a crystal-like substance, and are nearly 3 times bigger than the pyramid of Cheops in Egypt

Dr. Verlag believes that further investigation into the secrets in the the pyramids center could reveal more information regarding the cases of mysterious disappearances associated with the Bermuda Triangle.  In a press conference held in the Bahamas, the scientist presented a report with the exact coordinates of the pyramids, and made note that the technology at use is unknown to modern science.  A more detailed study may bring results that are difficult for us to imagine.  Who knows what will be discovered about these underwater architectural anomalies – perhaps something of shocking significance.

Built on Land – Lost During Last Pole Shift?

There are several Western scholars who argue that the pyramid on the seabed may have been initially made on the mainland, after which a devastating earthquake struck and changed the landscape completely. Other scientists argue that a few hundred years ago the waters of the Bermuda Triangle area may have as one of the cornerstone activities of the people of Atlantis, and Pyramids on the sea floor may be a supply warehouse for them.

A more detailed study over time will give results that are difficult to imagine. Scientists have processed all of the data and concluded that the surface is perfectly smooth for it to look like glass or ice. The size of the pyramids are nearly three times the size of the pyramids of Cheops. This news was sensational, and was discussed at a conference in Florida and even reported to local Florida newspapers.. Discovery Challenges Current Archaelogical Theory

A gigantic structure, initially identified by a doctor in the 1960s, has recently been independently verified by diving teams from France and the U.S.

The discovery has rocked scientists around the world. Will they rush to investigate it? No, they’re more likely to studiously ignore it. If pressed, they’ll officially position themselves as highly skeptical—especially in light of the potential ramifications.

The pyramid could confirm some engineers’ contentions that pyramids were originally created as massive power sources, support the claim that the ancient city-state of Atlantis did exist, or even provide answers to the mysterious goings-on that have been recorded since the 19th Century in the region of the Atlantic dubbed the Bermuda Triangle.

First discovered in 1968

According to the history, the pyramid was accidentally discovered during 1968 by a doctor of naturopathy, Ray Brown of Mesa, Arizona.

Brown was in the Caribbean on vacation and making dives with friends in a region off the Bahamas known as “the Tongue of the Ocean.” The area acquired that name because a tongue-shaped portion of the seabed extends out from the island before sharply dropping off into much greater depths.

When relating his discovery, the doctor explained he became separated from his diving friends underwater. While attempting to rejoin them he came upon a massive structure rising from the ocean floor: a black, hulking object silhouetted against the lighter sun-filtered water. The object was shaped like a pyramid.

Because he was low on air, he didn’t spend much time investigating the pyramid, but did find a strange crystal sphere.

He brought it to the surface with him and later when the ancient crystal was studied researchers were astonished by its properties.

Properties of Crystal Pyramids

Some theories of Atlantis propose the island city’s power pyramids were made of crystal, or their tops were capped with a crystalline substance.

Could such a thing actually generate, store, and distribute energy on demand?  Yes.

Experimenters discovered decades ago that pyramids do tend to act in some ways like a natural electrical capacitor gathering and storing energy around them. The larger the pyramid, the greater the capacity of gathering and storing energy. A pyramid’s composition is important too. Having one made of crystal, or an apex made of crystal, could vastly increase its power.

Crystal has long been known to have energy applications and exhibits natural piezoelectrical properties.

Early radio used germanium crystals to capture the radiowaves and convert them into electrical signals that could be processed and broadcast through headphones into soundwaves duplicating the human voice, music, and other sounds.

Pyramid power, say investigators, is intrinsic to the pyramid shape. It’s an architecture that’s proven to function as an energy accumulator and amplifier of energetic force.

As if to prove the investigators’ assertions true, recently some of the worlds pyramids began discharging beams of raw energy into space.

The bottom line? Pyramids are intrinsically natural generators of power.

Pyramids and the ‘Cavity Structural Effect’

Barry Carter calls attention to another property that pyramids exhibit called the “Cavity Structural Effect” (CSE) by its discoverer, Dr. Viktor S. Grebennikov. The scientist employed the CSE to construct a rudimentary anti-gravitic platform.

Carter explains that “Grebennikov also claimed that he could feel energies emitting from the apex of a pyramid: ‘You will soon pick up an active zone, a “clot”, where the Egyptians had their tombs. Another active zone (a “flame”) above the top of the pyramid is also well-perceived by the indicator if you drag its end over the top. The “clot” and the “flame” are well-felt by the finger inserted into the pyramid, or your palm moved above it after some practice. The pyramid effect, which generated many scary and mysterious stories over the centuries, is one of the CSE manifestations.’”

A Bermuda Triangle ‘Death Vortex’

Another deadly phenomenon pyramids may create: an energy vortex

Besides the time and spatial anomalies reported in the Triangle, some survivors of terrifing incidents there have reported huge, swirling vortices suddenly appearing and disappearing .

Evidence exists that some missing ships may have gone missing because of this phenomenon.

Observations of some of the submerged pyramids reveals they sporadically generate intense vortices in the ocean water flowing around them. Those vortices may be caused by a discharge of internal energy.

If those submerged pyramids also discharge massive enegy through their apexes, that could account for the formation of deadly vortices on the surface of the sea that swallows up whole ships along with their doomed crews.

Future expeditions to these mysterious pyramids may finally uncover the truth and reveal amazing ancient technology.

Unfortunately, deep sea archaeology is very expensive and not well-funded. Most dives are to ancient wrecks that promise riches to risk-taking treasure hunters.

And, of course, the world’s universities are not especially eager to explore the idea that very ancient ruins containing high technology may exist that challenges virtually all of the foundations of their pet theories.

STICK an electrode in the ground, pump electrons down it, and they will come: living cells that eat electricity. We have known bacteria to survive on a variety of energy sources, but none as weird as this. Think of Frankenstein’s monster, brought to life by galvanic energy, except these “electric bacteria” are very real and are popping up all over the place.

Unlike any other living thing on Earth, electric bacteria use energy in its purest form – naked electricity in the shape of electrons harvested from rocks and metals. We already knew about two types, Shewanella and Geobacter. Now, biologists are showing that they can entice many more out of rocks and marine mud by tempting them with a bit of electrical juice. Experiments growing bacteria on battery electrodes demonstrate that these novel, mind-boggling forms of life are essentially eating and excreting electricity.

That should not come as a complete surprise, says Kenneth Nealson at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. We know that life, when you boil it right down, is a flow of electrons: “You eat sugars that have excess electrons, and you breathe in oxygen that willingly takes them.” Our cells break down the sugars, and the electrons flow through them in a complex set of chemical reactions until they are passed on to electron-hungry oxygen.

In the process, cells make ATP, a molecule that acts as an energy storage unit for almost all living things. Moving electrons around is a key part of making ATP. “Life’s very clever,” says Nealson. “It figures out how to suck electrons out of everything we eat and keep them under control.” In most living things, the body packages the electrons up into molecules that can safely carry them through the cells until they are dumped on to oxygen.

“That’s the way we make all our energy and it’s the same for every organism on this planet,” says Nealson. “Electrons must flow in order for energy to be gained. This is why when someone suffocates another person they are dead within minutes. You have stopped the supply of oxygen, so the electrons can no longer flow.”

The discovery of electric bacteria shows that some very basic forms of life can do away with sugary middlemen and handle the energy in its purest form – electrons, harvested from the surface of minerals. “It is truly foreign, you know,” says Nealson. “In a sense, alien.”

Nealson’s team is one of a handful that is now growing these bacteria directly on electrodes, keeping them alive with electricity and nothing else – neither sugars nor any other kind of nutrient. The highly dangerous equivalent in humans, he says, would be for us to power up by shoving our fingers in a DC electrical socket.

To grow these bacteria, the team collects sediment from the seabed, brings it back to the lab, and inserts electrodes into it.

First they measure the natural voltage across the sediment, before applying a slightly different one. A slightly higher voltage offers an excess of electrons; a slightly lower voltage means the electrode will readily accept electrons from anything willing to pass them off. Bugs in the sediments can either “eat” electrons from the higher voltage, or “breathe” electrons on to the lower-voltage electrode, generating a current. That current is picked up by the researchers as a signal of the type of life they have captured.

“Basically, the idea is to take sediment, stick electrodes inside and then ask ‘OK, who likes this?’,” says Nealson.

Shocking breath

At the Goldschmidt geoscience conference in Sacramento, California, last month, Shiue-lin Li of Nealson’s labpresented results of experiments growing electricity breathers in sediment collected from Santa Catalina harbour in California. Yamini Jangir, also from the University of Southern California, presented separate experiments which grew electricity breathers collected from a well in Death Valley in the Mojave Desert in California.

Over at the University of Minnesota in St Paul, Daniel Bond and his colleagues have published experiments showing that they could grow a type of bacteria that harvested electrons from an iron electrode (mBio, doi.org/tqg). That research, says Jangir’s supervisor Moh El-Naggar, may be the most convincing example we have so far of electricity eaters grown on a supply of electrons with no added food.

But Nealson says there is much more to come. His PhD student Annette Rowe has identified up to eight different kinds of bacteria that consume electricity. Those results are being submitted for publication.

Nealson is particularly excited that Rowe has found so many types of electric bacteria, all very different to one another, and none of them anything like Shewanella or Geobacter. “This is huge. What it means is that there’s a whole part of the microbial world that we don’t know about.”

Discovering this hidden biosphere is precisely why Jangir and El-Naggar want to cultivate electric bacteria. “We’re using electrodes to mimic their interactions,” says El-Naggar. “Culturing the ‘unculturables’, if you will.” The researchers plan to install a battery inside a gold mine in South Dakota to see what they can find living down there.

NASA is also interested in things that live deep underground because such organisms often survive on very little energy and they may suggest modes of life in other parts of the solar system.

Electric bacteria could have practical uses here on Earth, however, such as creating biomachines that do useful things like clean up sewage or contaminated groundwater while drawing their own power from their surroundings. Nealson calls them self-powered useful devices, or SPUDs.

Practicality aside, another exciting prospect is to use electric bacteria to probe fundamental questions about life, such as what is the bare minimum of energy needed to maintain life.

For that we need the next stage of experiments, says Yuri Gorby, a microbiologist at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York: bacteria should be grown not on a single electrode but between two. These bacteria would effectively eat electrons from one electrode, use them as a source of energy, and discard them on to the other electrode.

Gorby believes bacterial cells that both eat and breathe electrons will soon be discovered. “An electric bacterium grown between two electrodes could maintain itself virtually forever,” says Gorby. “If nothing is going to eat it or destroy it then, theoretically, we should be able to maintain that organism indefinitely.”

It may also be possible to vary the voltage applied to the electrodes, putting the energetic squeeze on cells to the point at which they are just doing the absolute minimum to stay alive. In this state, the cells may not be able to reproduce or grow, but they would still be able to run repairs on cell machinery. “For them, the work that energy does would be maintaining life – maintaining viability,” says Gorby.

How much juice do you need to keep a living electric bacterium going? Answer that question, and you’ve answered one of the most fundamental existential questions there is.

Wire in the mud

Electric bacteria come in all shapes and sizes. A few years ago, biologists discovered that some produce hair-like filaments that act as wires, ferrying electrons back and forth between the cells and their wider environment. They dubbed them microbial nanowires.

Lars Peter Nielsen and his colleagues at Aarhus University in Denmark have found that tens of thousands of electric bacteria can join together to form daisy chains that carry electrons over several centimetres – a huge distance for a bacterium only 3 or 4 micrometres long. It means that bacteria living in, say, seabed mud where no oxygen penetrates, can access oxygen dissolved in the seawater simply by holding hands with their friends.

Such bacteria are showing up everywhere we look, says Nielsen. One way to find out if you’re in the presence of these electron munchers is to put clumps of dirt in a shallow dish full of water, and gently swirl it. The dirt should fall apart. If it doesn’t, it’s likely that cables made of bacteria are holding it together.

Nielsen can spot the glimmer of the cables when he pulls soil apart and holds it up to sunlight (see video).

Flexible biocables

It’s more than just a bit of fun. Early work shows that such cables conduct electricity about as well as the wires that connect your toaster to the mains. That could open up interesting research avenues involving flexible, lab-grown biocables.

NASA's Juno spacecraft is finally about reach Jupiter following an almost five-year journey. This is the first time a spacecraft will orbit the poles of Jupiter, providing new answers to the most pressing questions about the gas giant.

THE CULMINATION OF A FIVE-YEAR JOURNEY

Today, after an almost five-year journey, NASA’s solar-powered Juno spacecraft will arrive at Jupiter. This evening, Juno will perform an orbit insertion maneuver, a 35-minute burn ion its main engine, to slow the spacecraft by about 542 meters per second (1,212 miles per hour) so it can be captured into the gas giant’s orbit.

So, what if something goes wrong? The Juno mission team is definitely prepared. They’ve programmed the spacecraft with ways to restart itself if something stops the engine burn. That’s good, because NASA really won’t be in a position to help the spacecraft if any problems arise. It takes about 48 minutes to send a radio signal to Jupiter, and 48 minutes to send one back. If there is an issue, NASA will hear about it an hour later, and by that time it will be way too late for the space agency to send any corrective signals from Earth.

Once in Jupiter’s orbit, the spacecraft will circle the Jovian world 37 times during 20 months, skimming to within 5,000 km (3,100 miles) above the cloud tops. This is the first time a spacecraft will orbit the poles of Jupiter, providing new answers to ongoing mysteries about the planet’s core, composition and magnetic fields.

“We are ready,” said Scott Bolton, principal investigator of Juno from the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio. “The science team is incredibly excited to be arriving at Jupiter.  The engineers and mission controllers are performing at an Olympic level getting Juno successfully into orbit. As Juno barrels down on Jupiter, the scientists are busy looking at the amazing approach science the spacecraft has already returned to Earth.  Jupiter is spectacular from afar and will be absolutely breathtaking from close up.”

Not quite ready for your closeup, Jupiter? Don’t worry. Juno won’t begin taking hi-def photos and videos until its first flyby on August 27. After waiting five years, another month shouldn’t be too bad for the Juno team.

Mysterieuze UFO boven Siberië maakt veel los op social media

Een virale video van een mysterieus object aan de avondhemel boven een klein Siberisch stadje maakt veel los op social media. Velen geloven dat het een UFO was.

De beelden zijn op 28 juni gemaakt door twee inwoners van het plaatsje Tsjerlak in de Russische regio Omsk. Het filmpje toont een helder object aan het hemelse firmament dat continu van vorm verandert.

Petr Mironov (22), de maker van de video, zei dat het object eruitzag als een soort vlam. “Nee, ik beweeg de camera niet heen en weer, ik houd hem stil” zegt hij in het filmpje. “Het is een kegelvormig object en we zien dit niet met onze eigen ogen.”

Sommigen suggereerden dat het een heteluchtballon of optische illusie was die werd veroorzaakt door een defecte cameralens. Sceptici claimden dat het een nepfilmpje was om aandacht te trekken.

Die beschuldiging is gebaseerd op het feit dat Tatiana Kopylova (23), die de beelden op YouTube plaatste, een groot fan is van UFO’s en vaker dit soort filmpjes plaatst.

De Siberische astronoom Vladimir Krupko vermoedt dat het close-up beelden zijn van een heldere ster. Om die reden zou het object soms kegel- of ruitvormig zijn, aldus nieuwssite OmskZdes.

Buitenaards ruimteschip

Scott C. Waring beweerde echter dat het vliegende object boven Siberië een UFO was en ook in andere delen van de wereld is gezien, waaronder Taiwan, China en Israël. “Dit is geen planeet of ster, dit is een UFO,” zei hij. “Ik heb het met eigen ogen gezien boven Taiwan.”

Het is niet voor het eerst dat er UFO’s zijn gezien boven Omsk, meldt OmskZdes. Meer dan 50 jaar geleden werd daar ook al een mysterieus object gezien. En in 1991 zagen inwoners van het dorp Tsjoekreevka een vuurbal boven de straten zweven. Het object raakte uiteindelijk de grond en explodeerde.

Ufologen suggereerden destijds dat de bal een buitenaards ruimteschip was. Experts troffen een grote hoeveelheid chemische elementen aan op de plek van de explosie, waaronder zeldzame metalen.
