Thanks to the hit movie starring Will Smith and Tommie Lee Jones everybody has heard of the Men in Black. The movie proposed that their job is to protect the earth from the "scum of the universe." Well, that's just movie talk. The truth is a lot harder to get a handle on. Nobody knows if these guys are government agents, aliens in disguise, or just a group of intelligence operatives trying to keep a secret.
Here's what I do know: They're real. They generally show up when ordinary citizens have an extraordinary sighting or encounter with a flying saucer or its occupants. They seem bent on intimidating those individuals into not talking about what they have seen. They even attempt to do this with law-enforcement officers and military personnel. There have been hundreds if not thousands of incidents reported about these men in black.
What "Black" Means The word 'black' when used in this context means covert, undercover, not seen. When a person enters the intelligence community and becomes involved in operations and projects, all their government files basically disappear. They are no longer accessible through the normal channels. When this happens it is said the person has "gone black."
Some people think the MIBs are Aliens Complicating matters is the fact that many times it appears that the men in black are humanoid-type aliens masquerading as humans. Many people in the military are aware that this may the be case (in some instances).
Are some Men in Black Aliens?
Dr. Herbert Hopkins Dr. Hopkins was actively investigating a UFO abduction case in 1976 when one evening during the summer a stranger called him on the phone and asked if he could come by and talk to him about the case. This was despite the fact that the case had not been publicized at all. Hopkins agreed, hung up the phone, and immediately walked to his door to turn on the porch light so the caller could see the steps when he arrived. Hopkins was surprised to see a man walking up the stairs of the porch as he was turning on the light. He was shocked when the man introduced himself as the person who had just called him. (There were no cellular phones in 1976.)
The Black Suit Routine The man was dressed in black suit, black tie, black hat, and gray gloves. In the summertime! The man's skin was a pale sickly color and he appeared to be wearing bright red lipstick, a fact which turned out to be true as Hopkins later watched some of the lipstick rub onto the man's gray glove.
Vanished Into Thin Air The man asked Hopkins to take out the two coins that were in Hopkins' pocket. Stunned, Hopkins did it. He told Hopkins to watch the coins in his hand. The two coins simply vanished into thin air! Then the man told him, "Neither you nor anyone else on this planet will ever see those coins again."
The man then said his "energy was running low" and left. Shortly after stepping off Hopkins' porch, the man himself disappeared.
When the Scare Started The first widely acknowledged case of Men In Black intimidating UFO witnesses occurred in 1953. A fellow by the name of Albert K. Bender was the editor of a magazine called Space Review. He was also the founder of an organization called the International Flying Saucer Bureau.
During the summer of 1953 Bender apparently discovered some vital information pointing to the cover-up of the existence of flying saucers by the U.S. government. He had written several articles scheduled to appear in the next issue of his magazine. The next thing he knew, three guys show up at his door all dressed in black: black suits, black hats, and sunglasses. They told him they had read his article, even though it had not yet been published. They told him his information was accurate, but that he better not publish the article. In fact, they told him that he'd better not publish anything more about flying saucers. They said, "We advise those engaged in saucer work to please be very cautious." They basically scared him so badly that Bender officially retired from UFO investigations.

Other MIB Reports
A teenager is threatened by MIBs and has photos of flying saucers seized from him.
MIBs make a coin disappear from a UFO witness and tell him, "Your heart will do the same if you talk."
A former Air Force officer who learned about information on extraterrestrials from NASA was harassed, tranquilized, and interrogated.
Even the Military Doesn't Know Who MIB's Are In 1967 the United States Air Force expressed concern about finding out more about these guys in black who were going around scaring people and saying they were from the U.S. armed services. Here's a statement by Colonel George P. Freeman, the spokesperson for Project Blue Book at the Pentagon:
"Mysterious men dressed in Air Force uniforms or all in black and bearing impressive credentials from government agencies have been silencing UFO witnesses. We have checked a number of these cases, and these men are not connected to the Air Force in any way. We haven't been able to find out anything about these men. By posing as Air Force officers and government agents, they are committing a Federal offense. We would sure like to catch one, unfortunately the trail is always too cold by the time we hear about these cases, but we are still trying."
Air Force General Hewitt T. Wheless
The Joint Chiefs of Staff are in the Dark Too! Assistant Vice Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force Lt. General Hewitt T. Wheless sent a memo on March 1, 1967 to various agencies in the Department of Defense. Here's what it said:
"Information, not verifiable, has reached Hq.USAF that persons claiming to represent the Air Force or other Defense establishments have contacted citizens who have sighted unidentified flying objects. In one reported case, an individual in civilian clothes, who represented himself as a member of NORAD, demanded and received photos belonging to a private citizen. In another, a person in an Air Force uniform approached local police and other citizens who had sighted a UFO, assembled them in a school room and told them that they did not see what they thought they saw and that they should not talk to anyone about the sighting. All military and civilian personnel and particularly information officers and UFO investigating officers who hear of such reports should immediately notify their local OSI offices."
Three Real Cases Here are three encounters with the Men in Black that were told to me personally. In each case the person told me about this event without my initiating the conversation on this topic. Each person asked that I not use his or her real name if I told anyone else. In honoring those requests I'm using a pseudonym for the individual. Understandably, there seems to be a need to tell someone about what happened. With the secrecy and intimidation still surrounding any event that has to do with flying saucers or alien beings, people who have these encounters generally don't trust telling someone who doesn't have a clue that these guys even exist.
Larry Larry approached me following a meeting on UFOs. He was about twenty-five years old, casually but nicely dressed. He walked up to me and said, "You know, I had something very strange happen to me and my buddy. I don't like to talk about it because it kind of scares me." So I asked him what happened. He was clearly nervous and even stuttered a little. Here's what he told me:
Late one night in a state of semi-sleep, he felt a presence in his bedroom. The "presence" communicated with him and let him know it was from another world. Larry asked why all the secrecy and if they were real why they didn't just show up in the daytime. They told him that the next time he was with his best friend (whom they called by name) he would indeed see them and he would know it was them.
Larry said the entire conversation did not exactly take place using words. It was more like he understood what they were thinking and feeling without actual words. I know it sounds weird, but this is very common in human/alien interactions. For the most part, none of the aliens use verbal language, it is all telepathic, and sometimes it's in the human's own language. Many times it is a combination of feeling, "a knowingness", and understanding on a level we have not yet discovered how to describe.
When Larry woke in the morning he wasn't sure if he had been dreaming or not, but the experience was so vivid and unlike any dream he had ever had before that he thought about it daily for months afterwards.
Larry's best friend was now in the military and he didn't see him for months. His friend returned home just in time for the Fourth of July, and they decided to go down to a local park where some of his family members were holding a big picnic. The two of them were just kind of standing around, when a black van pulled up about fifty yards away. The two front doors opened and two men dressed all in black suits with black hats and dark sunglasses got out. Larry was startled because he began to remember his "dream." The two men opened the sliding door on the side of the van and two more guys got out. They too were head-to-toe in black, with shades.
Larry said, "First of all, it was hot. It was the middle of the afternoon and well over 80 degrees, and these guys were in black, with hats! Next, the two guys who got out of the side looked different. They didn't look human. I can't describe it, but their arms looked too long or something. Then they sat down at a picnic table and they all turned around and looked right at me and my buddy. After that he got real quiet. Then they just got back in the van and drove off. My buddy won't talk about it. He pretends like nothing happened, but I know he saw them and he knows I know."
Christine Christine was a career military person. She is a pilot and flew in the Armed Forces of the United States. She is even a member of the now infamous "Tailhook Association." For those who don't know, Tailhook is an association for Navy Fighter pilots. The name Tailhook comes from the hook on the back of fighter jets that is used to catch the planes when they land on an aircraft carrier. Here is what Christine told me:
"One night a large UFO showed up and hovered over the base for about forty minutes. Everybody saw it. We were all pilots and we knew it wasn't ours. We could also tell because the brass didn't know what it was either. When it left, it took off at phenomenal speed. The next day a bunch of black sedans showed up on the base. Each one had four guys all dressed in black with hats. They got out and went to every building on the base and "encouraged" us not to talk about what we saw. I'm not easily intimidated. I know how to use a firearm and I've flown in combat conditions, but these guys meant business."
Colonel Rogers Colonel Rogers had retired from the military and lived alone. Rogers had mentioned to some people he had seen UFOs and his work in the military had assured them that they were real. Several days later a man dressed in black showed up at his door. When Rogers opened it the man began to warn him about not talking about UFOs. Rogers told the man, "OK, just a minute." He excused himself went into his bedroom and came back to the front door with a loaded .45 pistol. He cocked it, pointed it at the man's head and said, "I don't know if you are CIA, NSA, or an alien, but somebody will have a lot of explaining to do if I blow your head off. Now get out of here."
The next day another man showed up wearing regular business attire (no black suit with shades). He hailed the colonel from the front yard with his arms raised, said he was unarmed, and asked if he could talk to him briefly. The colonel allowed the guy to approach. The guy said, "Look Colonel, we're sorry, no more guys will show up at your house. Some of this UFO information is still classified and we would appreciate it if you just didn't talk too much about it. OK? Thanks." And, then the guy left.
Black Helicopters These are similar to the Men in Black. Abductees, contactees, and people who have UFO encounters often report being followed by black helicopters. Once again, no one is sure if these are government aircraft or alien craft disguised as helicopters. There are cases which point to both.
One contactee, author Kim Carlsberg, has recorded being followed by black helicopters on the days following a nighttime abduction experience.
It's Probably the Army Unconfirmed sources say these black helicopters belong to the U.S. Army, 160th SOAR Division. The helicopters are black, or in some cases a very dark green, because they are "stealth aircraft" technology and cannot be detected by radar, just like the stealth bombers and fighters. Apparently these craft are also made available to other government agencies, including but not limited to the CIA, FEMA, and NSA.

FEMA Again I mention this again. FEMA stands for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. This is the organization you hear about on your local news whenever there has been a hurricane, tornado, earthquake, flood, or any other major catastrophe. FEMA manages the funds that are doled out by the government to states and individuals to help them recover from these events.
In looking into covert or "black" operations, FEMA comes up again and again. It appears that FEMA is used as a cover to direct funds into these covert operations. Can I prove it? No. However, FEMA turns up again and again from all kinds of different sources whenever government secrecy and funding is the topic. No other "civilian" agency does. Not the FDA, FAA, or USDA! Not only that, but after any major disaster people seem to have a hard time getting relief from this agency, as if there were not enough money there. Let's get a budget review done of FEMA funds and check it out!
Shortly after the printed version of my book was published, a close friend of mine named Kevin read it and then told me the following:
Kevin said that his dad had worked for FEMA for years. However, he didn't know exactly what his dad did. Unlike other dads, his father never spoke about his work and he would often take short unexplained business trips out of town. Kevin always felt that there was much more to his fathers job at FEMA than just helping out with civilian emergencies.
One day Kevin was watching the news on TV with his dad and he asked him, "Dad, what is it exactly, that you do?" At the time, the televsion was giving a news broadcast showing then President Richard Nixon and Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. Kevin's father pointed at the screen and said: "You see those two fellas there? I was in the same room with them yesterday." That was the end of the conversation. Kevin's dad never said another word about his job or his duties at FEMA.

A suggestion:try to stop using the term UFO. I know this is a tall order. UFO is part of our national vocabulary and is ingrained in our culture. Even on this website I use the term because it's easy to say and write quickly. But, whenever possible, try to use the term flying saucer or alien spacecraft instead. Here are some reasons why:
UFO originally meant Unconventional flying object, not unidentified flying object. The military has known since the 1940s that these were intelligently piloted craft. To confirm this, simply review the Air Force intelligence documents from 1958, which appear in the Government Information section.
The term flying saucer has been used in hundreds of government and military intelligence documents precisely because they are known to be flying, piloted craft. A change in mind-set is needed. It is not just a matter of semantics; it is similar to the difference between referring to someone as a victim or a survivor.
If you saw what appeared to be a boat several miles out in the ocean, you would not say, "Hey, I see a UFO, an unidentified floating object." You would make the assumption it is an example of an intelligently piloted craft that we commonly call a boat. Whether you were actually right or wrong is beside the point. It may actually have been a whale or a buoy. However, you empowered yourself to make an intelligent assessment and committed to it. When you say this you are saying you have some idea of what you saw and people will generally take your assessment at face value.
However, when you say you saw a UFO, you are confirming in your own words that what you saw is unidentified; you have no idea what you saw, or if you saw anything at all, so why should anybody listen?
Craft, Not Clouds
Flying saucers are not like clouds just drifting by. They are more like cars on a freeway; they contain "people" (alien beings) in them and they are on their way to or from a specific destination. Please spend some time thinking about this, since it is an important concept. When you fully embrace this idea you will begin to see the flying-saucer phenomenon in a new light, and some more of the pieces will begin to fall into place.

Origin of the Term
The first reported modern-day sighting of flying saucers occurred on June 24, 1947. A private pilot, Kenneth Arnold, spotted nine disk-shaped objects flying in formation over the Cascade Mountains in the state of Washington. Based on this sighting the term flying saucers was born. The following July 29, 1947, Arnold saw approximately twenty-five more alien spacecraft that flew within four hundred yards of his plane. An official CIA account of Kenneth Arnold's sightings is included in the Government Documents section.
Keep in mind the year these sightings occurred: 1947. In 1947 flying craft of any kind, even airplanes, were rarely seen by citizens. In 1947 it is estimated that less than 1 percent of the American population had ever seen a helicopter. And, for all intents and purposes, there was no television.

Sizes and Shapes of Flying Saucers
Besides the classic "saucer" shape of these alien craft, there are many other forms that have been seen by civilians and noted in military documents. Alien spacecraft sightings have also been reported in ancient texts as well as in the Bible. There are as many configurations of craft as there are shapes of cars and trucks on our planet. Here are some of the ones seen most often:
Saucer or Disk-shaped Craft
These come in different configurations and sizes. Some have small domes or cupolas on top, and some do not. The dome configuration can be rounded or square. These are known to be primarily scout ships and short-range research vehicles.
Cigar-shaped Craft
These vehicles are generally larger than saucers. They are known to be small mother ships containing eight to ten saucer-shaped craft. They are long and cylindrical with a taper at both ends; thus the name.
Huge 'Cigar' craft release smaller flying saucers
Triangle-shaped Craft
These ships are huge; many stretch over several miles along a single edge. These are the craft that were sighted over Belgium in the wave of sightings taking place there in 1989-1990. It is estimated that over 70 percent of the entire population of Belgium saw these craft firsthand, and as a result, Belgium is the only country that officially recognizes the existence of flying saucers.
Super-sized 'Triangle' ships are seen world wide
Boomerang
These craft are also gigantic. They differ somewhat from the triangle-shaped craft in that one arm of the boomerang ship is longer than the other. These are the sort of craft that have been seen and videotaped by thousands of citizens in Phoenix, Arizona in March and April 1997.
Giant Cylinders
Very large craft, a thousand feet or more in length (picture a 70 story building on its side). These craft are not tapered. Many photographs of these have been taken. In photos they look just like a giant, hovering telephone pole on its side and don't look like a craft at all.
The Roswell Craft
One of the most famous flying saucers of all time, the Roswell craft was not really shaped like a flying saucer. Researcher and forensic artist Bill McDonald has reconstructed the Roswell alien spacecraft from several eyewitness testimonies. Bill received confirmation from contacts he has within the U.S. intelligence community. It was McDonald's re-creation of the craft that the Testor Model Company used for their commercially sold scale model.

McDonald's intelligence agency sources have stated that Jack Northrup and Kelly Johnson, who were the founders of Northrop and Lockheed's "Skunk Works," had direct access to the data and configuration measurements of the Roswell spacecraft.1 It was said that this information was adapted and applied to the development of the X-33 and X-38 aerospace shuttle planes, NASA's space shuttles, the VentureStar, U.S. Stealth aircraft, TR-3 Black Manta.

Other Characteristics of Flying Saucers
There are a few characteristics of flying saucers that are not generally known to the public at large. Although these characteristics are never depicted in the movies, you should know about them.
The Wobble
Flying saucers often wobble when they fly. It is very pronounced at lower speeds, giving the saucer a surreal look. It is often this characteristic which first draws the viewer's attention.
This wobble immediately distinguishes the flight of a flying saucer from that of an airplane. It was the wobble that attracted pilot Kenneth Arnold's attention to the first saucers, which he spotted in 1947.
When a saucer is caught on videotape, people often think the tape is fake because of the wobble. It is reminiscent of a model rocket wobbling on a string like in the old Buck Rogers movies. The wobble is thought to be caused by fluctuations of waves in the electromagnetic fields that the saucers use to overcome gravity. To imagine how it looks, think of a high-speed boat bouncing off the water as it moves forward.
Morphing Disks
Another characteristic of these alien craft is morphing; that is, the shape of the saucer changes right before your eyes. Often a saucer will elongate and become a cigar-shaped craft. This transmutation effect has also been caught on videotape.
Jaime Maussan, a reporter and investigator for a show similar to our 60 Minutes in Mexico, has thousands of videotapes, all from different individuals, showing this morphing capability. Maussan has collected over five thousand videotapes of flying saucers from the citizens of Mexico, including many videos taken of the same craft shot at the same time from many different parts of Mexico City. In Mexico, Jaime Maussan is as well known and as well respected as Dan Rather or Peter Jennings.
Jaime Maussan has videotapes that show over fifty flying saucers at one time. They often hold themselves stationary while forming strange designs, like some kind of array of symbols in the sky. This isn't as dramatic as landing on the White House lawn, but it's pretty close.
In March 1998 Jaime told me, "Nobody in Mexico laughs at UFOs. Nobody. They are frequently around the volcano, which now has the strongest electromagnetic field in the world. There have been times when all the traffic in Mexico City was stopped, with millions of people standing outside their cars pointing to the skies. Yet, not one American newspaper has ever carried the story."2
Hyperspace Jumps
Videotapes have also captured what have come to be known as "hyperspace jumps." This is when a flying saucer will jump a distance of fifteen to twenty miles in less than one-tenth of a second. Basically the craft is disappearing and reappearing in another location almost instantly. To the viewer, from a distance it looks like a "jump."
Different Names for Flying Saucers
Flying saucers are a world-wide phenomenon. They are called different things in different countries. In Mexico they are known as "flying plates." In China they are known as "flying woks." In many European countries they are known as "flying shields." This term originated in ancient times and continues in use today in Europe. Sizes of the Craft
Just as with the shapes, there is a wide variety of sizes. Most of the flying saucers we see are scout ships and are about thirty feet across. Their size is often deceiving because although there are larger disks, which are also seen, they are sometimes seen at a great distance and they appear smaller than they actually are.
Some Are Huge
As I mentioned earlier, some of these ships appearing in our atmosphere are huge! People regularly report seeing craft several miles across. A woman in Phoenix was driving with her two sons when a boomerang craft flew over them and hovered over the isolated stretch of highway where they were traveling. Out of fear, she accelerated to over eighty-five miles per hour. One of her teenage sons decided to time how long it would take them to get from beneath the craft. He started timing well after they had driven under the craft, and it took them just over two minutes at eighty-five miles an hour to get from under the wingspan of the ship. That makes the wingspan approximately three miles across!

Judging by the grid on the camera lens and knowing the distance of the satellite's orbit, calculations show these craft to be hundreds of miles across! Estimating Sizes
I don't know about you, but I have difficulty gauging sizes and distances. For instance, if someone says an object is three hundred feet away, I don't have a clue how far that is. On the state driving test, the words "stay a hundred feet behind the next vehicle" mean nothing to me. But, I do like football, so I can gauge a hundred yards pretty accurately. I also get a clear picture if someone tells me a building is ten stories tall. For some reason, it's easy for me to relate to.
Now I use the reference of a building to help me understand how big something is. For example, it is often reported that flying saucers are about fifty feet across. Translated, this means it was as long as a four-story building on its side. That's pretty big. Bigger than the words fifty feet seem to indicate to me.

We found several military sources who have seen craft six hundred feet across. That's a forty-five story building on its side. That's large!

Just a little teaser to whet your imagination. Aliens beings have the ability to "fold" space. I cover this in more detail later, but here's what this means in relation to space-craft size: Often, the inside of the saucer is much larger than it appears to be from the outside. People who have worked on recovered craft often recall doing a double-take when they first stick their heads inside of a flying saucer. They can't believe it can be that big inside and they pull their head out to look at the outside of the craft. They are in total disbelief. What appears to be a thirty-foot craft on the outside is three times that size on the inside.

Why do people create UFO hoaxes?
I've had contact with quite a few hoaxers of UFO videos over the years. The motives of these individuals have varied considerably.
(1) Many created material simply for a laugh. While many within ufology doubt people would put in the effort necessary to, say, create a photoshopped image the amount of effort involved is generally far less than most people seem to think.
(2) CGI artists showcasing their talents. Many of these artists openly state their creation of the relevant videos (e.g. including the video in a showreel on their website and/or listing the video on their CV).
(3) Scientific experimentation : There have been a few interesting hoaxes which (at least according to the hoaxers) were done primarily to test the responses of witnesses and ufologists, i.e. they were conducting an experiment. The best known such experiment is the Cradle Hill hoax (referred to in some of the post above as "the Warminster hoax", which is potentially confusing since there were several alleged hoaxes at the Warminster "hotspot"). That one is discussed in quite a few articles online (particularly on the Magonia website, with D I Simpson writing at least two articles giving the background to the hoax) and in about a dozen books that I've noted. I'm happy to post the full list of references to those discussions, but the longest and most informative ones are by: (a) James Oberg in his book “UFOs and Outer Space Mysteries” (1982) at pages 103-106, 116 (in Chapter 5) of the Donning paperback edition; and (b) Jenny Randles in her book “UFO Study” (1981) at pages 135-138 (in Chapter 11) of the Hale hardback edition.
(4) Art : Apart from the obvious example of crop-circle makers, several UFO videos and events have been hoaxed by individuals that considered they were creating works of art. The audience response is part of the art-work. Several crop-circle hoaxers have branched out into this type of UFO "artwork" in the last decade or two.
(5) Income from advertising on Youtube videos - Frankly, I don't think this one is as important as some people think (with plain mischief/pranking being far more common...), but at least some characters in the history of ufology seem to be have been prepared to lie in the hope (often disappointed) that it would make them a lot of money. A few Youtube "UFO" video channels seem to be slick ways to maximise views and thus advertising income. But those channels quickly become known within the ufo community as being unreliable so their videos tend to be circulated more by those outside the UFO community (e.g. people on Facebook with a limited involvement in ufology) rather than on UFO discussion forums/groups.

Vereenvoudigd type magnetometer voor UFO detectie

Een magnetometer wordt in eerste instantie gebruikt voor het meten van de componenten van het magnetische aardveld. Het is een zeer gevoelig apparaat dat in een sterk vereenvoudigde vorm ook bruikbaar is voor het detecteren van de aanwezigheid van een UFO. Het toestel wordt minder gevoelig uitgebouwd en meet alleen de zeer grote waarden van een magnetisch veld op enkele Km rond de opstellingsplaats. Het signaal veroorzaakt door een UFO geeft aanleiding tot zeer grote afwijkingen bij de registratie en kan perfect benut worden om een alarminstallatie aan te sturen. Uit metingen uitgevoerd zou het gaan over veldsterkten van circa 100 Tesla in de onmiddellijke nabijheid van de UFO.
Die resultaten werden bekomen door constatatie van lichtpolarisatie verschijnselen in de omgeving van de UFO alsook door lijnopsplitsing in het lichtspectrum in de nabijheid ervan.
Deze spectraal methode werd reeds in een vroeg stadium door de US-luchtmacht gebruikt ter identificatie van het verschijnsel. Een fluxmagnetometer wordt momenteel ook met succes toegepast door de onderzoeksploeg van het * Institütfür UFO- Forschung* onder de leding van Gerhard Gröschel in een *UFO Hotspot* omgeving van de kerncentrale van Neckarwestheim. Een tweede voorbeeld is het gebruik van magnetometers in het onderzoek in Hessdalen (Noorwegen) door de Italiaanse groep onder de leiding van Dr Massimo Teodorani in zijn evaluatie van een typische UFO waarneming in * Physicsfrom UFO Data* .
Als laatste voorbeeld is de waarneming te vermelden door de eigen opstelling in Sint Katelijne Waver door schrijver dezes op 9 October 2008 ,daarna bevestigd door een visuëele waarneming op 1Km afstand van het meetstation tijdens het zelfde tijdsvenster .
De gegevens van deze visuëele waarneming hebben toegelaten een logische verklaring te geven van de gemeten magnetische registratie alsook de nodige gegevens bezorgd om het traject door de UFO gevolgd te controleren.
De hierna beschreven magnetometer werkt perfect en is volledig uitgetest op zijn goede werking. Deze bestaat in grote lijnen uit 3 hoofddelen: de voeding, het zendgedeelte en het ontvangstgedeelte.
Het toestel is volledig opgebouwd met onderdelen volledig verkrijgbaar in de electronica-handel. Alleen de sensor is zelfbouw en bestaat uit een rechthoekige , gesloten stripkern uit mu-metaal (folie van 0,4mm) in 2 lagen uit een legering van nikkel-ijzer-koper en een klein gedeelte Molybdeen (75/15/5 en rest %) om de gewenste hysteresis-lus met lage verliezen en lage saturatie-inductie te bekomen. De sensor is van het ringkerntype maar in rechthoekige vorm alleen omdat die gemakkelijker te bewikkelen is.

Een oscillator IC 4047 wekt pulsen op met een *DutyCycle* van 50% met een frequentie van ongeveer 900 Hz gevolgd door een versterker die ervoor zorgt dat de pulsen even groot in amplitude zijn tijdens de positieve en negatieve alternanties. Deze worden vervolgens toegevoerd aan de eindtrap met BC549C/ BC559C transistoren .
De pulsen worden dan aangelegd aan de primaire wikkeling van de sensorkern (over de ganse omtrek gewikkeld) in serie geschakeld met een 6,8 Ohm weerstand voor stroomdetectie. De lage verzadiging waarde van de kern laat toe deze te bekomen met een beperkte stroomuitsturing. De verzadiging speelt een grote rol in het bekomen van een goed bruikbare spanningsvorm uit de secondaire koppelwikkeling over de gehele kern.
In de schakeling zijn een aantal belangrijke meetpunt opgenomen en te vinden onder de codes DSCO 49.. .

De voeding uit het net met een dubbele gelijkrichting en stabilisatie van de spanningen voor beide polariteit (+5V/-5V). Voor beide polariteiten zijn een bruggelijkrichter en een stabilisator (7805) voorzien. Het is essentieel voor de goede werking dat de voeding een zeer goed gestabiliseerde waarde geeft. De uitgang levert immers de spanning voor polarisatie van de integrator in de ontvanger : deze is bepalend voor de stabiliteit van het bekomen resultaat.
Onderaan, rechts:
De ontvanger ontvangt de pulsen uit de secondaire van de sensor kern. De daaropvolgende versterker (741) dient om het kleine signaal uit de sensor te versterken tot het nodige niveau om de daaropvolgende integrator (OP07) goed aan te sturen .
De asymmetrie uit het sensor signaal is een maat voor de geinduceerde flux veroorzaakt door het externe UFO magnetische veld. Dit versterkte verschilsignaal wordt aan de inverterende ingang van de integrator (OP07) aangelegd. De zeer sterk gestabiliseerde polarisatie spanning wordt aan de andere niet-inverterende ingang aangesloten. De uitgangsspanning is een gelijkspanning met een kleine resterende rimpel tengevolge van de schakelwerking op de sensor vanuit het zendgedeelte. Het uitgangssignaal uit de integrator is normaal behoorlijk constant ; alleen tijdens het optreden van een UFO zal die sterk variëren . Het is de bedoeling deze spanning verder te verwerken in een schakeling met 2 comparatoren met boven- en ondergrens instelmogelijkheid als alarmniveau´s .
De magnetometer, zoals beschreven, is alleen het detectorgedeelte in een uitgebreidere opstelling en wordt normaal gevolgd door een zogenaamde uitwerkingseenheid. Deze bestaat gewoonlijk uit een gedeelte met 2 comparatoren met een onder- en bovengrens vrij instelbaar .Een niet gestoord signaal bevindt zich normaal in het bereik tussen deze grenzen Als nu een groot signaal door een externe invloed optreedt gaat de meetwaarde buiten de ingestelde zone met een alarmsituatie tot gevolg. Het circuit bestaat uit zowel een acoustisch als een optisch alsook een aansturing van een schakelaar die de overige registratie toestellen ( eventueel videoapparatuur )in werking gaat stellen.
De waarden ,veroorzaakt door een UFO verschijnsel , liggen ver boven deze die optreden tijdens een magnetische storm ten gevolge van een zonuitbarsting ( waarden steeds kleiner dan 1 µT).De minimale gevoeligheid van deze magnetometer ligt ver boven de maximale invloed van de zon zodat deze laatste geen invloed zal hebben.
De detectieafstand van deze magnetometer lig op ongeveer 8 tot 10Km (Minimum signaal ongeveer 4 µT.

Na herhaaldelijk en minutieus beluisteren van het interview opgenomen van de waarneming in Sint Katelijne Waver ,ben ik tot volgende bevinding gekomen: Het zou hier dan gaan om *een sigaar/cylindervormige UFO met een zeer sterk begeleiden magnetisch effect veroorzaakt door de voortstuwingswijze van het toestel*
Ik hoop hiermee het onderzoek hiervan te kunnen afsluiten met een conclusie die gebruik maakt van ALLE terbeschikking staande gegevens

Als conclusie werd destijds in het rapport vermeld*een vliegend object van
onbekende oorsprong een zeer groot magnetisch veld voortbrengende*
Bij een minutieuze analyse van de verklaringen van de waarneming tijdens het
Interview kunnen we de bekomen gegevens thans samengevat worden als volgende :
het verschijnsel werd initiëel op grote afstand waargenomen als een hevig licht in Zuidelijke richting met daarnaast een opvallende planeet.
Het heldere licht bleef gedurende een zeer lange tijd ter plaatse hangen terwijl de planeet langzaam opschoof.
Het bizarre in de volgende faze was dat het licht plots zeer snel ging naderen. Het was juist dit effect dat de waarneemster haar aandacht trok.
Wanneer het tuig dichterbij kwam verdween dit licht geleidelijk uit het gezichtsveld terwijl de details steeds beter konden waargenomen worden met volgende details:
een donkere massa
geen aantoonbare vleugels, geen staartvlak, geen motorgeluiden , geen rood en groen navigatielicht kortom geen karakteristeken van een klassiek passagiersvliegtuig
een ovaal/cylindervormig object met aan de zijkant felle rode en gele lichtjes, 7 in totaal
bij het overvliegen vertoonde de onderzijde een zeer donker aspect zonder opvallende details
het toestel was zeer groot : de lengte werd vergelijkbaar met 2 lengten passagiersvliegtuig
de waarneming werd gedaan buiten op het terras dus niet doorheen een glazen wand of vensterruit
de geschatte snelheid van naderen werd als redelijk snel ervaren
als bijkomend gegevenvertelde de waarneemster dat ze voordien niet in Ufo´sgeloofde
Haar kennis beperkte zich tot het vernoemen van het zigzaggend gedrag maar dat vond ze niet logisch. De waarneming gaf haar de overtuiging dat ze iets anders had gezien maar dat het geen klassiek vliegtuig betrof was voor haar een feit (tot 10maal toe herhaald!)
Uit metingen van de aanvlieghoek en van de schijnbare grootte ter plaatse uitgevoerd door W.P. van het * Belgische UFO-meldpunt * waar de waarneming gemeld was bleek algauw dat de grootte van het toestel bij de dichtste nadering ongeveer 140m lang moet geweest zijn.
De overige details opgesomd tijdens het interview gaven een duidelijke verwijzing naar een bekende UFO vorm uit de literatuur namelijk een *cigar/cylindric UFO*
In eerste instantie werd er gedacht aan een discusvormig toestel gezien onder een bepaalde hoek maar achteraf bleek de beschrijving van een sigaarvormig toestel beter overeen te komen met de gegevens.
Volgende gegevens werden gevonden voor de afmetingen van een klassiek passagierstoestel:
Boeiing 747 : 68,6m ; voor 2x de lengte wordt dit 137,2m
Airbus A380 : 73,2m ; voor 2x de lengte : 146,2m
Airbus A330 : 63,7m ; voor 2x de lengte :127,4m
Het resultaat van deze gegevens ligt zeer dichtbij de geschatte waarde en toont een te meer aan de ze op een betrouwbare wijze heeft weergegeven wat ze gezien heeft.
BESLUIT:
De slotconclusie * een sigaar/cylindervormige UFO met een zeer sterke magnetische invloed * is de beste en meest logische uitleg voor hetgeen waargenomen werd.
Een mogelijkheid bestaat erin dat het een tuig betrof met MHD aandrijving ( zie hiervoor de werken van de Franse onderzoeker en wetenschapper J.P.Petit en van onze eigen Professor A.Meessen)

Depuis la vague belge de 1990, le Cobeps continue à recueillir des témoignages interpellants.

Si le phénomène OVNI demeure inexplicable pour la science, d’étranges observations continuent à être rapportées quotidiennement aux quatre coins du globe. Depuis la fameuse vague belge de 1990 durant laquelle plusieurs milliers de personnes – parmi lesquelles des gendarmes, des militaires et des ingénieurs ont aperçu dans le ciel des objets triangulaires atteignant parfois la taille d’un terrain de football – plus rien de comparable ne s’est reproduit au-dessus de nos têtes !
Cela ne signifie pas que les ovnis ont totalement déserté notre espace aérien. Les statistiques du Comité belge d’étude des phénomènes spatiaux (Cobeps) en attestent. Le Cobeps dispose d’une quinzaine d’enquêteurs de terrain issus pour la plupart de la défunte Sobeps dont la mission est de collecter, d’analyser et d’effectuer des recherches rigoureuses sur base des témoignages qui leur parviennent. « Sur Bruxelles et en Région wallonne, on nous signale ainsi entre 80 et 100 observations par an. Nous les filtrons et les identifions quand c’est possible. Après vérification, il subsiste environ 5 % de cas non élucidés qui focalisent notre attention », indique Patrick Ferryn, président du Cobeps.
Pour la première fois , un bilan de l’activité ufologique belge a été réalisé en 2015. Le Cobeps et le Belgisch Ufo-meldpunt ont rassemblé leurs informations pour fournir un aperçu général sur l’ensemble du territoire.« S’il y a eu une augmentation des signalements dans les trois régions avec un total de 319 observations, le nombre de cas inexpliqués a plutôt tendance à stagner », M. Patrick Ferryn.
Aucune des observations récentes n’a cependant l’étrangeté de celle du 12 février 2011 à Engis (Charleroi) où une jeune automobiliste de 27 ans a visualisé un gigantesque engin lumineux et triangulaire parfaitement immobile au-dessus d’un zoning industriel. « Cette chose se trouvait à une altitude si basse que j’ai pensé qu’un avion allait s’écraser ! », rapportera à la police ce témoin émotionné.
Réalisateur retraité, Patrick Ferryn ne tire aucun plan sur la comète quant à l’origine des ovnis, contrairement à d’autres qui prennent leurs fantasmes pour des réalités. « À l’heure actuelle, personne sur terre n’a la preuve matérielle de l’existence d’une incursion extraterrestre. Pour autant, on ne peut en exclure l’hypothèse. Grâce aux outils qu’offre Internet pour calculer l’altitude et la trajectoire d’un avion, il est désormais plus facile de distinguer les vrais témoignages des nombreux canulars, ce qui n’était pas le cas lors de la vague belge. »
D’ici quelques mois, le Cobeps rendra publiques ses conclusions sur la journée historique du 29 novembre 1989 où pas moins de 150 apparitions très interpellantes furent recensées en quelques heures dans un rayon géographique limité du sud de la Belgique.
L’AREPS dévoile des documents exclusifs
La société ufologique présentera ce samedi, à Tournai, des photos et vidéos d’ovnis jamais montrées
Si vous vous intéressez aux ovnis, ne ratez pas le rendez-vous programmé par l’Areps ce samedi 7 mai à Tournai. Présidée par Daniel Recolet, cette société ufologique belge profitera de ses 20 ans d’existence pour dévoiler des documents exclusifs (photos et vidéos) provenant des archives de ses membres. Le fondateur de l’Association de recherche et d’étude des phénomènes spatiaux n’avait que 9 ans lorsqu’il a aperçu pour la première fois un ovni au-dessus du barrage de la Gileppe.
« J’ai remarqué un premier point lumineux bien plus gros qu’une étoile. Celui-ci a été rejoint par un autre, avant que les deux sphères ne se séparent », raconte Daniel Recolet.
Depuis lors, ce passionné de radiocommunication âgé de 69 ans a accroché à son tableau de chasse ufologique bien d’autres observations qui ont bouleversé sa vision de la réalité qui nous entoure. Il prépare à ce sujet un ouvrage dont 158 pages sont déjà écrites.
En dépit de l’incapacité de la communauté scientifique à percer le mystère des ovnis, notre interlocuteur est convaincu à 200 % que ne nous ne sommes pas seuls dans l’univers et qu’il existe une 4e dimension, un univers parallèle auquel l’éminent Albert Einsten croyait lui aussi dur comme fer !
« J’en suis arrivé à la conclusion que les ovnis sont l’œuvre d’une intelligence extraterrestre bien supérieure à la nôtre et que celle-ci, après nous avoir précédé sur terre, a trouvé le moyen de raccourcir l’espace-temps tout en générant l’énergie pour se matérialiser », commente Daniel Recolet.
Ce dernier s’est également beaucoup intéressé aux crop-circles, ces dessins circulaires apparaissant dans les champs et qui, là encore, sont souvent interprétés comme des signes d’une civilisation venue d’ailleurs.
De tout cela, il sera question demain, de 14 h à 17 h, à la brasserie l’Impératrice (rue des Maux n°12B). Sachez encore que l’AREPS organise régulièrement des soirées d’observation à la belle étoile autour d’un barbecue.
Une équation prouve que E.T. existe ou a existé
Selon les calculs de deux chercheurs, Adam Frank et Woodruff Sullivan, de l’Université de Washington, les chances que l’humanité soit la première et seule espèce intelligente de l’univers sont d’une sur 10 milliards de billions. Soit un 1 et 22 zéros. « Pour moi, cela implique que d’autres espèces intelligentes et technologiques ont très certainement évolué avant nous », explique Adam Frank, professeur de physique et d’astronomie à l’université de Rochester, coauteur de l’étude. Depuis le lancement de la sonde Keplper, en 2009, plus de 1.000 planètes vivables ont été découvertes. Pourtant, aucune espèce en vue, en astronomie c’est ce qu’on appelle le paradoxe de Fermi.Ce n’est pas la première tentative de prouver l’existence d’E.T. par les mathématiques, Frank Drake avait déjà établi une équation il y a 55 ans. Mais celle-ci comportait trop d’inconnues pour obtenir des résultats fiables. « Nos résultats montrent que notre évolution n’est, semble-t-il, pas unique et a eu lieu de nombreuses fois dans le passé », concluent les chercheurs publiés dans la revue Astrobiology.

Ces questions sensibles, ajoutées à celles qui portent sur l’intention des visiteurs surgissent au premier plan dans l’esprit de nos gouvernants lorsqu’ils prennent connaissance de l’envergure du dossier ovni et de ses implications. Parmi toutes les nations, il en est une particulièrement confrontée aux manifestations ovnis, du moins depuis les explosions d’Hiroshima et de Nagasaki, celle des Etats Unis d’Amérique. Les stratégies des présidents américains, les obstacles qu’ils ont rencontrés et les décisions prises sur le traitement du dossier ovni offrent un éclairage saisissant quant à la politique du secret menée par la nation américaine et son influence sur toute la planète. Nous n’aborderons pas les éléments antérieurs aux années 40, telle que la rumeur selon laquelle Georges Washington avait rencontré des êtres étranges dans la forêt de Valley Forge(1). Et nous proposons plutôt de citer quelques éléments chronologiques succincts qu’une recherche personnelle permettra d’approfondir.

Le 24 février 1942 dans la soirée, presque trois mois après la première attaque de Pearl Harbor par les japonais, les américains qui craignent à présent une attaque sur la côte Ouest voient apparaitre de nombreuses lumières dans le ciel de Los Angeles. Dans la nuit, pendant près d’une heure, la DCA lance plus de 1400 obus sur les objets étrangers, sans qu’aucun d’entre eux ne soit touché (du moins officiellement). D’autre part, 15 avions d’interception décollent sans être capable de s’approcher des appareils étrangers qui évoluent à de multiples altitudes et avec différentes vitesses. A Los Angeles, les dégâts, les blessés et les morts seront tous les conséquences des retombées des obus ainsi que de la peur liée à l’évènement.
Plus récemment, une série de mémos de la Maison Blanche déclassifiés indique que le président Franklin D. Roosevelt connaissait la présence d’extraterrestres et de vaisseaux spatiaux interplanétaires dès 1942. Une organisation spéciale chargée d’étudier leur technologie avait alors été créée. Elle s’appelait l’«Unité des Phénomènes Interplanétaires ».
En 1950, Eleonore Roosevelt, son épouse, déclara elle aussi, son intérêt pour les manifestations ovni et remercia publiquement les témoins. Rappelons qu’au cours de la seconde guerre mondiale, les armées belligérantes sont parfois l’objet de rencontres aériennes spectaculaires. Celles d’objets d’origines inconnues impossible à abattre, à capturer à suivre ou à semer. Les Foo-fighters, nom que leur donne les alliés, créent parfois des turbulences tellement dangereuses pour les bombardiers en opération que ces derniers sont parfois forcés de se séparer discrètement de leurs bombes avant même de survoler leurs objectifs. Ces faits ne seront avoués par les pilotes qu’après la fin de la guerre.
Harry S. Truman (1945-1953)
En juillet 1947, Harry Truman est aux commandes du gouvernement lorsque la base de Roswell, dans le nouveau Mexique, première base de lancement des bombardiers nucléaires, annonce la récupération d’une soucoupe volante. Les militaires ne savent pas encore gérer une information de cette importance et publient une déclaration.
Le gouvernement prend alors la main et décide de clore le sujet en classifiant le dossier et donnant l’ordre de discréditer un des premiers officiers impliqués dans la découverte du crash, le major Jessy Marcel.
Harry truman est historiquement l’un des présidents qui donneront l’ordre d’abattre les ovnis. Ce groupe capable de gérer le dossier en toute discrétion, serait chargé de récupérér les débris des engins exotiques sujets à un crash et d’effacer toutes traces pouvant éveiller l’attention des nations étrangères. Ce groupe aux moyens financiers illimités serait constitué de grands patrons de l’industrie de l’armement, de banquiers, de personnels militaire, du renseignement, de l’armement et de scientifiques. Dwight D. Eisenhower (1953-1961)
Bien qu’il déclara en 1954 que les soucoupes volantes existent seulement dans l’imagination de ceux qui les voient, le président Eisenhower fut largement concerné par la gestion du dossier ovni. Il aurait réalisé une observation au début des années 50, alors qu’il se trouvait au large des côtes britanniques. L’objet de couleur bleue serait apparu durant une dizaine de minutes. Le président Eisenhower est considéré par les chercheurs comme le probable dernier président américain a avoir eu un contrôle total sur le dossier ovni. Le général Robert Broussard Landry est à l’époque, colonel chargé de la liaison entre le Président Eisenhower et la CIA sur le sujet OVNI comme il l’avait fait au temps du Président Truman.

Le général Robert Broussard Landry témoigne d’avoir eu pour mission de rédiger auprès du Président Eisenhower, un rapport sur le dossier ovni tous les trois mois. Ces entreprises avaient cessé d’émettre des rapports, refusaient à présent d’en rédiger et prétendaient que leurs activités relevaient du domaine privé. John F. Kennedy (1961-1963)
Le Président John F. Kennedy (1961-1963) avait eu l’occasion lors d’un voyage en bateau d’observer un OVNI de couleur argentée ayant une course descendante, mais son entourage témoigne qu’il leur avait demandé de taire l’évènement. Son frère Robert Kennedy était très intéressé par le dossier. Le 5 novembre 1961, le président Kennedy apprend que l’URSS n’arrive pas à détecter correctement les leurres américains qui ont été envoyés dans l’espace soviétique afin de tester leurs technologies défensives. Le problème de la présence ovni prend alors une importance inattendue car la tension politique entre les deux blocs est à son sommet. Chaque nation a envisagé une confrontation nucléaire et s’interroge sur celui qui attaquera le premier. Les ovnis sont alors perçus comme un risque susceptible de créer une confusion chez les soviétiques et de déclencher par erreur une guerre atomique. Car les soviétiques comme les américains peuvent confondre des ovnis avec des escadrilles ou des missiles nucléaires adverses. John Kennedy tente alors de dialoguer avec ses rivaux afin de comprendre avec eux ces intrusions et d’éviter de déclencher une guerre par accident. Le 11 novembre 1963, les soviétiques lancent un vaisseau spatial inhabité appelé KOSMOS 21. Demeuré en orbite, sa mission est gardée secrète. Le lendemain, le Président Kennedy transmet une directive présidentielle à la NASA, lui intimant l’ordre de collaborer avec le programme spatial soviétique. Il envoie aussi une note à la CIA pour qu’elle partage elle aussi les informations détenues sur les ovnis. Voici le célèbre mémo de demande d’accès aux fichiers sur les ovnis que Kennedy a adressé au directeur de la CIA en date du 12 novembre 1963.
Il ne sera jamais obéi car 10 jours plus tard, il est assassiné. Notons toutefois que plusieurs mois auparavant, Marylin Monroe qui avait été très proche du Président Kennedy mais que ce dernier avait abandonné, semble avoir menacé de tenir une conférence de presse et de révéler des informations confiées par le président Kennedy sur le crash d’un vaisseau extraterrestre et la récupération des corps. Le document ci-dessous a été rédigé par la CIA, 48h avant le décès de Marilyn Monroe.
Lyndon B. Johnson (1963-1969)
Selon Jacques Bergier (qui fut, entre autres, membre de l’OSS et resta toute sa vie « en contact » avec le milieu du renseignement), aussitôt qu’il investit le bureau ovale à la Maison-Blanche, le Président Johnson fut informé de l’existence d’un groupe de pouvoir tellement secret qu’il ne lui en avait rien été dit pendant sa vice-présidence et qu’aucune décision présidentielle ne pouvait être prise sans son aval. Il en fut tellement contrarié, qu’il ne put s’empêcher de l’exprimer, informant à cette occasion certaines personnes qui auraient dû en demeurer dans l’ignorance, et qui sont à l’origine de la fuite. Le président Johnson s’intéressa de près aux ovnis, contraint par la vague de manifestations qui eut lieu en 1965-66 aux USA et dont la presse relatait des rapports émanant de personnalités telles que le gouverneur de la Floride. Le 4 juillet 1966 il signa une loi qui entra en application l’année suivante. Fondée sur le principe de la liberté d’information, elle oblige les agences fédérales à transmettre leurs documents, à quiconque en fait la demande, quelle que soit sa nationalité. C’est grâce à cette loi, que les décennies suivantes vont permettre la déclassifications de nombreux documents administratifs (plus de 100 000) liés au domaine des ovnis.
Richard M. Nixon (1969-1974)
L’intervention de Richard M Nixon sur le sujet OVNI est révélée par deux témoins. L’un d’eux est un ancien responsable de la CIA. Monsieur Nixon, vice-président des Etats-Unis durant le mandat d’Eisenhower aurait assisté au compte rendu d’une mission qui consistait à donner un ultimatum aux responsables de la zone 51, détenteurs d’ovni et d’extraterrestres récupérés lors de crashs afin qu’ils se viennent en urgence à la maison blanche pour présenter un rapport de situation. D’autre part, l’un de ses amis fidèle et célèbre, Jackie Gleason prétend avoir déjà discuté du dossier ovni avec le Président Nixon et qu’un soir, ce dernier serait venu le chercher pour le conduire dans une base militaire de Floride, afin de lui montrer des morceaux d’épaves et les corps d’extraterrestres détenus. Gerald R. Ford (1974-1977)
Lorsqu’il était membre du Congrès, Gerald R. Ford avait fortement bataillé contre ceux qui, depuis les sphères du pouvoir, maintenaientsous scellés le dossier des ovnis. Gerald R. Ford est l’un des deux hommes a avoir annoncé son intérêt pour les manifestations ovni avant son élection à la présidence. Puis, en 1966 une vague de manifestations ovni (des centaines d’observations) fut observée dans le Michigan, son Etat de résidence. Après que l’Air Force, par son conseiller, J. Allen Hynek, se fût ridiculisée en expliquant les observations d’ovnis par des « gaz des marais », une campagne de presse sans précédent eu lieu contre les communiqués perçus comme stupides de la part des militaires.
Gérald Ford déclara alors: « Avec la ferme conviction que le public américain mérite une meilleure explication que celle donnée jusqu’à maintenant par l’Air Force, je recommande vivement l’enquête d’un comité sur le phénomène ovni. Je pense que nous devons au peuple d’établir une crédibilité vis-à-vis des ovnis et de produire le plus d’éclaircissements possible sur ce sujet… » La contradiction entre la position des militaires et celle de Gérard Ford pèsera lourdement et de façon positive sur son élection à la présidence. Il proposa que le Science of Astronautics Committee, ou bien le Armed Services Committee de la Chambre des Représentants, ouvre des auditions sur « le sujet des ovnis et invite à témoigner des membres de la branche exécutive du Gouvernement, en particulier ceux qui prétendent avoir observé des ovnis ». Le sous-comité organisa effectivement une audition le 5 avril 1966, mais trois personnes seulement furent invitées à y témoigner, toutes trois liées à l’armée de l’air. Ces derniers déclarèrent au comité qu’ils n’avaient pas de preuve de l’origine extraterrestre des ovnis, ni aucune indication que les ovnis représentent une menace pour la sécurité du pays. C’est au cours de son mandat présidentiel qu’entrera en application la loi F.O.I.A (Freedom Of Information Act sur la déclassification d’archives de l’administration). Après son mandat, il répondra par courrier à un officier des renseignements : « Au cours de ma carrière au congrès en tant que vice-Président et Président J’ai réalisé de multiples demandes d’informations sur les OVNI. Les autorités officielles ont toujours nié en détenir. »

IT WAS 63 years ago today that a mechanic from New Mexico claimed to have proved aliens exist by snapping these remarkable pictures of what appeared to be flying saucers.
Mr Villa claimed to have communicated with aliens in this flying saucer.
Apolinar A Villa, known as Paul, was 47 when he allegedly made contact with extra terrestrials and snapped away at their stunning space crafts in Niagara, Albuquerque, New Mexico, on June 16, 1963.
Not only did Mr Villa, who died aged 65 in 1981, claim to have had the good fortune to photograph the spaceships, he said he communicated with them and they welcomed his attention.
The pictures went down in UFO history as being the clearest and most extraordinary captures of alleged alien crafts.
Mr Villa claimed that he had been taught telepathy by aliens from the age of five.
He was regarded locally as a gifted mathematician, electrician, physicist and mechanic who was unusually able to spot defects in engines.
Mr Villa's story when he unveiled the historic pictures was that in the five years before the sighting, he had seen around five flying saucers visit Earth.
He said that 10 years earlier in 1953, he felt an urge to go to the coast at Long Beach, California, while he was working, and encountered a man of seven-feet tall, who was of "superior intelligence" and communicatedwith him
He wrote: "All photographs have a sky background with an unobstructed view of the object.
"It seems unlikely that anyone photographing a UFO from several angles would have all good, clear unobstructed photographs of the object."
"Photograph seven shows the UFO at close range with a leafless branch on the left side of the print, passing behind the object.
"Two twigs from this branch are readily visible on the right side of the object and in good alignment with the main branch.
"It does not seem possible that these twigs are from the tree on the right which is further away.
"Therefore, the object is between the branch and the camera. The object is estimated to be 20 inches in diameter and seven inches high."
The Air Force results have since been duplicated by UFO researchers and photographic experts, and they have all reached the same conclusion that he faked with images using amazing models.
The Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) has been sent a video clip by a stunned unnamed witness who claims to have recorded the fabled craft flying over a major highway.
TR-3B is alleged by conspiracy theorists to be a secret "black project" spy craft of the US Government that can be flown into space.
The allegations are that these crafts are created at top-secret military bases like Area 51 in Nevada, by reverse engineering alien technology.
Others claim they are actual UFOs flown by aliens visiting Earth.
In the video, which lasts nearly two minutes, an apparent black triangle shape is seen slowly moving silently in the sky. It appears to have large pulsating red and green lights, like many previous alleged TR-3B sightings.

In a brief report to MUFON, which is the world's largest UFO investigation organisation based in the US, the witness said: "Triangular UFO hovered over route 45 in Mantua, New Jersey, and turned on its side over the road, and then flew sideways towards Philadelphia."
He described the craft as flying extremely slowly, at just around 10 miles per hour.
He said: "I have never encountered any aircraft like this in my life.
"It made no noise and it seemed to have multicoloured lights rotating inside one light.
"Did anyone else witness this at approximately 9:40 pm on June 10th 2016?"
Conspiracy theorists have long claimed the TR-3B Black Mantra is an alleged stealth reconnaissance nuclear-powered triangular shaped craft.
Previous conspiracists have claimed the Black Mantra was developed by the US under a cloud of secrecy in the 1970s, but its existence has never been proved.
Over the years, there have been dozens of reported sightings of mysterious-shaped aircraft in Antelope Valley in the Californian desert - an area known to attract Black Mantra hunters as it is near several military research and testing zones.
But, until now, no clear video footage had been captured.
Conspiracists believe the TR-3B Black Mantra is not the first of its kind and is, in fact, a successor to an earlier TR-3A craft.
There are longstanding rumours about the existence of reconnaissance airplanes of the US Air Force under so-called "black projects".
According to conspiracy theorists, the TR-3A Black Manta is a subsonic stealth spy plane designed by Northrop Gruman and was allegedly used in the Gulf War to guide F-117A Nighthawk bombers.
However, there is no proof or direct evidence of the existence of any of the alleged spy planes.
Last June YouTube UFO channel Secureteam 10 released a video claiming to have found a Black Mantra craft sitting in a crater on the moon in images obtained from a camera mounted on the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) spacecraft.
Earlier that month, Secureteam also posted a video claiming they had found similar craft in NASA images of Dwarf planet Ceres.
But the were widely panned as being an odd-shaped rocks.
MUFON confirmed it is investigating the new footage.
The death of a NASA scientist has sent conspiracy theorists into overdrive
Conspiracy theorists have been widely condemned condemned for dreaming up madcap theories around Tiffany Huan Moisan’s death, including another suggestion she may have died after getting too close to government secrets.
Social media users have condemned the speculation, ordering the bizarre theories to stop as those close to her try to come to terms with their loss.
The NASA climatology scientist, 48, was reported missing on June 4, with her body found the next day behind a branch of budget supermarket Food Lion in Princess Anne, Maryland, US.
Local police have ruled out any foul play, but the cause of death has yet to be released and this has led to wild suspicions over what happened to her.
Conspiracy theory website Clapway.com claims the case is suspicious and NASA scientists have gone missing or died in mysterious circumstances before.
In a report, the website suggested: "Signs of suspicion, however, are rampant. Some claim aliens are to blame, while others think she was getting a bit too close to government secrets."
Ms Moisan worked at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Wattsville, Virginia.
According to an obituary on www.legacy.com, she was Born in Taiwan and adopted by an American couple after her mother died in childbirth.
Her adopted father Rodney "Butch" Ashworth was an officer in the US Navy.
She is survived by her husband, John R Moisan and two daughters adopted from China, Katherine Lin Moisan, 12, and Alyssa An Moisan, 9.
Before that, she worked at the University of California and earned a PhD from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at Texas A&M.
Her research specialities were ecology, physiology, optics, and earth science.
She had been involved in a number of missions on oceanographic cruises in the Atlantic.
The Clapway report added: "Seeing as NASA is a space agency, it’s quite curious why they are spending so much time in the ocean.
"NASA, as you may know, has been heavily involved with global warming observations over the past few years.
"Moisan was deep in research, which makes it even stranger why she was found dead behind some budget grocery store in Maryland.
"Unfortunately for Moisan’s family and UFO researchers everywhere, it’s likely the government will remain silent regarding her death.
"In suspicious cases like this, rarely do we hear more than a police report. That’s not exactly comforting. If Moisan uncovered some information that could be harmful to the government, killing her off would not be a far-fetched idea.

A number of conspiracy theorists have claimed aliens have secret undersea bases on Earth, and have taken the leap that as Mrs Moison was involved in ocean studies, she may have uncovered this secret and been about to expose it.
The Clapway report added: "Going along with this idea, perhaps this NASA scientist was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Why not just taken her life at sea then?
"It’s quite possible her relationship with aliens was closer than she intended. It would be one thing if Moisan was an individual with a shady past, but she was a respected scientist.
"Respected scientists don’t tend to get involved with crime too often, so bringing aliens into the mix here is not as strange as it sounds.
"Moisan’s death is as weird as they come. Hopefully, her death will not be lost among the mystery like so many others."
Local reports have suggested she may have taken her own life.
Her car was found in the parking area near the chain, and there are also local suggestions she may have had debilitating health problems.
Her body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
Results are yet to be released.
Princess Anne Police Chief Tim Bozman said: “Although there was no apparent signs of foul play, this incident remains under investigation pending results from the autopsy.”
Online posters on the website of sbynews.blogspot.co.uk urged for the wild speculation to end.
One posted: "Please be sensitive. This young woman was married, had two children, was an outstanding scientist, and she suffered for more than a decade with a serious and sometimes debilitating chronic illness. This is heartbreaking."
There were no apparent signs of foul play, but the investigation will stay open until autopsy results are in.

Since its launch in the 1950s, Area 51 has attracted the great interest of a huge number of people, very keen to find out what lies behind the perimeter of the tightly guarded military airbase.
The top-secret location in Nevada desert has remained off-limits to the public for about sixty years, including a large no-fly zone in airspace nearby.
The lack of basic information has led to weird speculation about its primary purpose. Actually, to most, Area 51 has become a term related to outlandish conspiracy theories about government cover-ups and extraterrestrial life.
Eventually, the wild speculations have diverted public attention away from some of the magnificent developments which have occurred at the base over the many years, things that have remained relatively mysterious among the public.
There is still high confusion among the members of the public concerning the driving forces behind this facility since no photos have been released publicly in the recent years.
Area 51 has been the location of on-going secret programs managed by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) since its establishment. Used mainly to test fresh technologies, some of the most high-level air capabilities of military started their working life at the base.
Work at the location continues to be improved today, with the recent satellite images revealing that new structures are being constructed. Nonetheless, their purpose stays unclear.
Therefore, to attempt and assist you separate reality from myth, here are 15 things about Area 51 you probably don’t know.
1. Foreign Aircraft Were Present At The Base

The US used the Area 51 location to test captured technology acquired from aircrafts of enemy nations.
The earliest foreign plane to land was the Russian-built MiG-21 that had been captured by the Israeli forces in 1966 when one of the members of the Iraqi air force defected.
The primary purpose of the investigations was to reveal weaknesses in design and performance so that United States forces could exploit them during the combat. In 1970, further examinations of Area 51 began – this time on secretly developed Soviet radar systems.
Some speculate this method of examination goes on with the intergalactic spacecraft allegedly being kept somewhere inside the compound.
2. The CIA Only Acknowledged Its Existence In 2013
Until 2013, the CIA declined to acknowledge the presence of Area 51 in the official documents since the United States government deemed the work undertaken at the base to be very sensitive.
This secrecy gave rise to the elusive nature of the base and without doubt fed the thousands of myths surrounding it.
At first, all the secrecy was as a result of the Cold War. Washington became super paranoid about its military programs alleging that it might fall into the hands of the Soviet Union. Fair enough, it would have been pretty shitty if that would occur, so paranoia warranted.
The existence of Area 51 was eventually admitted in a secret report which covered the first 2 decades of operations at Area 51. It was released in 2013 as a result of a freedom of information request by a popular professor at the George Washington University.
Obama also made an impromptu comment regarding the Area 51 in 2013, making him the first president to openly acknowledge its existence.
3. First Drone Test Flight
Even though the use of drones by the United States military is currently widespread in conflicts in different countries, their development started some time ago.
Area 51 was the site of the earliest test flight of the unmanned drone in 1964. The aircraft was known as D21 and was designed for use as the surveillance aircraft.
It had taken quite some time before the drone was launched individually. However, by 1966, the D21 model had flown to the heights of 90,000 feet.
But during its 4th test flight, something went wrong when a particular drone was released from its primary carrier plane and both aircrafts were damaged, killing one crew member. The D21 drone continue to conduct 4 spying missions over China, from 1969-1971.
4. United States Army Accused Of Using Lethal Substances At Area 51
Suggestions have emerged that the military misused secrecy surrounding Area 51, and the confidentiality obligations assigned to those who work there to dump huge quantities of poisonous waste at the site.
The workers who became sick, and the widows of those who lost their lives, brought together evidence of huge drums of deadly waste being dumped in the trenches prior to being set alight.
A court case was arranged but could not proceed because of national security considerations. Claims were also made that due to the remoteness of Area 51, it was used to dispose of the waste gathered from some other military locations.
5. Area 51 Was Accidentally Disclosed
Area 51 is the well-known secret military base of operations in the entire world. However, a 1967 government memo is the single reason we know of its presence at all.
Protocol meant each reference to the Area 51 had to be redacted from each document but, enquiringly, in this memo that was sent by CIA Director Richard Helms and concerned the positioning of surveillance aircraft in the Vietnam, one slipped through.
The mistake did not reach the public, but the big question stands: was this leak actually accidental?
6. U2 Spy Plane Involved in First Area 51 Operation
The site started in 1955 as a top test center for the U-2 spy plane an aircraft established after WWII. It was able to conduct surveillance over the Soviet Union, and even practice flights were performed using the runways constructed onsite.
When it kicked off the operations over the Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union, a cover story was made to display it as a weather research plane.
7. Photos Were Once Accidentally Taken off the Base

During the flight on board Skylab in 1974, a certain group of inexperienced astronauts unintentionally took photographs of the Area 51 site.
The incident prompted a national security debate and the likelihood of formally acknowledging the base was regarded. William Colby, retired director of the CIA, was drawn into a huge controversy within the intelligence service that eventually choose not to release the photograph to the public.
Confidential documents since released, show that Area 51 was the only location in the world which CIA had prohibited from being photographed from the space. This offers an indication of how valued the work done there was seen.
8. Area 51 May Have Tested The Helicopters Used In The Bin Laden Raid

The conspiracy to kill Osama Bin Laden in 2011 was conducted by a team of Navy Seals that were flown to his Pakistan site by 2 Blackhawk helicopters.
Nonetheless, when one helicopter crashed during the mission, aviation professionals recognized that this was no normal helicopter.
Some speculate it was the Blackhawk model which had undergone considerable modification; others claim it was a totally new and formerly unknown model, perhaps one which was purpose-built for this mission.
It is believed the testing grounds for this modern chopper would’ve been Area 51. The improved Black Hawk was regarded near invisible to the radar. Judging by the success of the mission, the aircraft was clearly much harder to sense than its predecessors.
9. The Recent Project May Be A Next Generation Spy Plane
Rumors are circulating, after the appearance of recent satellite data displaying Area 51 which a significant new project is under way. A huge, hangar-like building is supposedly being developed at the end of one of the runways.
According to the defense journalist Tyler Rogoway, the United States air force has indirectly admitted that the prototype of a long-range and the unmanned surveillance aircraft exists that’s believed to be a possible candidate for testing.
The hangar developed at Area 51 has been equipped with large doors, nearly 170 feet wide, suggesting that they’ve been precisely designed to deal with a massive object like an aircraft.
10. Entertainment Options at Area 51
If you are planning an enjoyable getaway to Area 51, you may need to pack some books since you are going to be bored.
Insiders have shown that, early on, the only entertainment choices at Area 51 were a small bowling alley and a single cement tennis court. There was no radio, and TV signals only made it through the nearby mountains in the evening.
However, the good news is that Area 51 workers ate very well. The mess hall occasionally served oysters and lobsters, and they enjoyed a weekly steak night.
Let’s not forget that people have camped near the area 51 gate.
11. Aliases of Area 51
During its early construction, Area 51 was given codenames Watertown, Groom Lake, the Edgar Allen Poe-inspired Dreamland and lastly, Paradise Ranch. It is unclear if Michael Jackson had a contributed any of these naming choices.
The primary idea behind “Paradise Ranch” was that it would eventually make the mission appear more desirable to the contracted construction workers.
Arguably, there was not necessary since months of back-breaking labor in the remote Arizonian desert certainly sounds like an idea of a great time.
“Paradise Ranch” is also the name of the campy Korean TV drama. Does it tells the story of the construction of Area 51? It certainly seems like it.
12. Most Ridiculous Conspiracy Theory of Area 51
There are no deficiencies of these to select from, but perhaps the most disgraceful appeared in the 2011 book, on the history of the top-secret base by Annie Jacobsen.
According to her, Area 51 was an active center of a United States cover-up which went into motion after the alleged crashing of the UFO at Roswell, in 1947.
Refuting that it was a UFO, she alleges that the craft was the Soviet mission, piloted by genetically engineered kids to make people in the United States believe that it was the alien craft, to spread fear.
In this imaginary tale, Area 51 was used as a storage location for the Soviet ship and the remains of its crew. As if this wasn’t going far enough, she also claimed that the fugitive Nazi scientist had conducted the genetic engineering of these kids, Josef Mengele, who is ill-famed for his experiments on the concentration camp prisoners during the WWII.
13. Alien Reports
In 1952, a spectacular spike in the UFO sightings had the CIA admitting the remote prospect that interplanetary aircraft were used. The government considered the phenomenon seriously and even investigated every sighting.
90 percent of reported sightings were simply debunked –whatnot and weather balloons – but the other 10 percent were categorized as “incredible reports from credible observers.”
More than half of the UFO reports from the late 1950s through to the Swingin’ 60s were accounted for by the manned reconnaissance flights over the US. Nearly all of these came from Area 51.
Despite the reasonable explanations, several still claim that the alien aircraft are being kept at Area 51 and reverse-engineered to build new weapons and aircraft.
A recent poll confirmed that more than 70 percent of Americans believe UFOs are real. A number that believes in unicorns stays unconfirmed.
14. Hoax Moon Landing Twist
It is no secret entire hoards of people believe America did fake the moon landing in order to win the coveted Space Race. Most of them believe the staged event happened at Area 51 that’s ground zero for each wild conspiracy theory.
What you may not realize is the sliver of evidence corroborates this specific conspiracy. A huge variety of space equipment – including life-support systems and land rovers – were discovered at adjoining nuclear testing grounds of Area 51.
It is possible these were mainly used for test purposes by various astronauts, but it is still very suspicious.
15. Crashed A-12 Spy Plane

The A-12 is a super-sonic spy plane which was built and tested behind the black curtain of Area 51.
It was almost undetectable to the radar and could cross-continental the USA in only 70 minutes, capturing footage at a remarkable altitude of 90,000 ft.
Pushing the aviation limits came with some risks, still, and finally led to a terrible crash outside of Area 51 in 1963. When fragments of the crashed A-12 were revealed in Utah, the CIA chose to release and even publish photos of the plane.
Reportedly, pilot Ken Collins had managed to parachute to the ground where he was shocked to be meet 3 civilians in a pickup, who provided him a ride to the wreckage of his plane.
Instead, Collins asked them to take him in an opposite direction by informing them the plane had a nuclear weapon on board. In fact, this was a pre-arranged cover story in order to keep the craft secret and even proves the lengths officials were ready to go to.

Juno arriveert op 4 juli bij Jupiter en zal langs de polen om de planeet draaien. “Vorig jaar rond dezelfde tijd kwam New Horizons aan bij Pluto”, mijmert Diane Brown van de Juno-missie. “Juno vliegt rakelings langs de atmosfeer van Jupiter. Nooit eerder kwam een ruimtesonde zo dicht bij de gaslagen van deze planeet.” Op 4 juli is de afstand tussen Juno en Jupiter slechts 4.667 kilometer.
Het doel van de missie Maar wat gaat Juno nu eigenlijk precies doen. Uiteraard staat er een mooi achtergrondartikel over de Juno-missie op Scientias.nl. Maar om het even kort samen te vatten: Juno hoopt erachter te komen wat er onder het dikke wolkendek van Jupiter schuilgaat en hoe de gasreus is ontstaan. Het ruimtevaartuig gaat diep in de atmosfeer van de gasplaneet turen en probeert de temperatuur en samenstelling van die atmosfeer vast te stellen. Ook worden de bewegingen van de wolken in kaart gebracht.

Straling Om de geheimen van Jupiter te ontrafelen, moet Juno risico’s nemen en rakelings langs de atmosfeer vliegen. “We zijn niet op zoek naar problemen, maar naar data”, aldus hoofdonderzoeker Scott Bolton. Het is algemeen bekend dat Jupiter een krachtig magnetisch veld heeft. Wanneer een ruimtevaartuig dit magnetische veld betreedt, dan krijgt zo’n sonde te maken met veel straling. “Gedurende de hele missie wordt Juno blootgesteld aan meer dan honderd miljoen keer de straling van een röntgenapparaat van je tandarts”, zegt Rick Nybakken, projectmanager van de Juno-missie. “Maar we zijn er klaar voor. De baan van Juno rond Jupiter is zo ontwikkeld, dat er minimale blootstelling is aan straling van Jupiter. Juno kan lang genoeg overleven om voldoende gegevens te verzamelen.”
Kluis van titanium Juno is een bijzonder ruimtevaartuig. Zo beschikt de ruimtesonde over een titanium kluis. In deze kluis bevinden zich de meest waardevolle onderdelen, die andere wetenschappelijke instrumenten aansturen. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan de vluchtcomputer van Juno. De kluis weegt 172 kilo en zorgt ervoor dat de hoeveelheid straling met een factor 800 afneemt. Toch is dat niet genoeg. In de omgeving nabij Jupiter is nu eenmaal teveel straling. Uiteindelijk zal Juno in het harnas sterven, maar hopelijk wel nadat er twintig maanden gegevens zijn verzameld.

For the first time ever, ESO astronomers have been able to capture a clear image of a star system 11 quadrillion kilometers away using the combined forces of the Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Chile, the Keck Observatory in Hawaii, and the Calar Alto Observatory in Spain.
CVSO 30C STATUS PENDING
For the first time, astronomers were able to capture a clear image of an exoplanet candidate, orbiting a star known as CVSO 30, which lies around 1,200 light-years away. If validated as an exoplanet, CVSO 30c would prove that CVSO 30 has two planets orbiting it.

European Southern Observatory (ESO) officials say this could be the first star system discovered to have both a close-in exoplanet and another one that is far-out. “If it is confirmed that CVSO 30c orbits CVSO 30, this would be the first star system to host both a close-in exoplanet detected by the transit method and a far-out exoplanet detected by direct imaging,” ESO officials.
In 2012, astronomers found the first exoplanet, CVSO 3b. They have found that this exoplanet is amazingly close to the star, roughly 1.2 million kilometers in distance — just 11 hours away.
On the other hand, the new exoplanet candidate orbiting it, CVSO 30c, is 98,730,000,000,000 kilometres (61,347,977,809,592 miles) away. This distance is 660 times the Earth’s distance from the sun. Given this fact, it means that one orbital period for this planet would take 27,000 years to complete, making astronomers uncertain whether the star is actually part of the star system. More observations would be necessary to confirm (or disprove) this.
“Astronomers are still exploring how such an exotic system came to form in such a short timeframe, as the star is only 2.5 million years old; it is possible that the two planets interacted at some point in the past, scattering off one another and settling in their current extreme orbits,” ESO officials said.
11,000,000,000,000,000-KILOMETER STALKER RANGE
While CVSO 30c’s status remains undecided, what’s really wonderful about the discovery is how impressive it is that we were able to get a clear image of worlds so far away from us — CVSO 30c is 11 quadrillion kilometers (7 quadrillion miles) away from Earth.
In numerical form, T! That’s 15 zeroes!
ESO researchers worked hard building the appropriately named Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Chile to make this happen. And that’s not even enough. They needed to combine forces with two other observatories: the Keck Observatory in Hawaii and the Calar Alto Observatory in Spain.
And at an 11,000,000,000,000,000-kilometer stalker range, it was definitely worth it.

NASA's space probe Juno is set to reach Jupiter by July 4, initiating a two year long study on the gas giant that is far more comprehensive than anything before.
JOURNEY TO JUPITER
Fireworks aren’t the only reason to look to the skies this Fourth of July.
As Juno approaches Jupiter’s harsh radiation environment, it will fire its main engine to slow down and then slip into orbit around the planet.
While there, Juno hopes to perform 37 close approaches, trying to learn more about the planet’s origins, structure, atmosphere and magnetosphere.
While this sounds relatively benign, Juno will be facing some of the harshest environs in the Solar System. The combination of the metallic hydrogen along with Jupiter’s fast rotation generates a powerful magnetic field that surrounds the planet with electrons, protons, and ions traveling at nearly the speed of light. This makes for a very harsh radiation environment, deadly for almost any spacecraft.
Because of this, Juno is armored like a knight. Juno’s flight computer and critical electronics are tucked inside a 400-pound titanium vault. It also has special radiation-hardened electrical wiring and shielding.
Juno is running on solar power, with three huge panels designed to face the sun during most of the mission. The wings are 29 feet long and 9 feet wide.
GIANT QUESTIONS
Despite being the biggest kid on the block, we don’t really know that much about Jupiter. Juno hopes help us learn more about Jupiter’s core, answer questions around how much oxygen and water the planet has, and how its magnetic field works. It will also be probing Jupiter’s auroras—the most intense in the solar system.
After Juno completes its mission in 2018, it will plunge into Jupiter and burn up. Scientists planned this finale to eliminate the possibility that it could smack into Europa, one of Jupiter’s watery moons.
