Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

Giants With Double-Rowed Teeth, Flattened Heads and Six Fingers
The Cherokee called them the Moon People. The Utes and Paiutes spoke of a hideous race of cannibals ten feet tall living in caves. And the Choctaw also have an account of the race of giants that first colonized the Ohio Valley.
From Old World Roots of the Cherokee, chapter 5, "America's Middle Ages," pp. 78-79, we read:
What kind of Indians lived in the territory the Choctaw and Chickasaw carved out for their new home? According to their traditions, reports Cushman, as confirmed by excavations of bones in Tennessee, it was a “race of white giants”:
[T]he tradition of the Choctaws... told of a race of giants that once inhabited the now State of Tennessee, and with whom their ancestors fought when they arrived in Mississippi in their migration from the west, doubtless Old Mexico.
Their tradition states the Nahullo (race of giants [literally, wizards]) was of wonderful stature; but, as their tradition of the mastodon [which used to be found on the Great Plains], so this was also considered to be but a foolish fable, the creature of a wild imagination, when lo! Their exhumed bones again prove the truth of the Choctaws’ tradition (151).
These giants could have been Rafinesque’s Atlans.
Cushman then recounts the discovery in 1880 at a burial mound site near Plano, Texas, of human bones “of enormous size... the femoral bones being five inches longer than the ordinary length, and the jaw bones... so large as to slip over the face of a man with ease.”
Cushman goes on to identify them with the older occupants of North America called Allegewi or Taligewi (Talegans). Many historians, moreover, speculate they were the builders of the Adena mounds.
As for the Chickasaw, Cushman notes that they have no record of their history before the colonial period, although it is assuredly "the same as the Choctaws, being one tribe and people until the division made by their two chiefs Chikasah and Chahtah many years after their arrival and location east of the Mississippi River" (p 358).
Of the Natchez, Cushman records that they, "if tradition may be believed, also came from Mexico where they had lived for centuries" (p 440).
A story was told by the Comanches in 1857:
Innumerable moons ago, a race of white men, ten feet high, and far more rich and powerful than any white people now living, here inhabited a large range of country, extending from the rising to the setting sun.
Their fortifications crowned the summits of the mountains, protecting their populous cities situated in the intervening valleys.
They excelled every other nation which was flourished, either before or since, in all manner of cunning handicraft — were brave and warlike — ruling over the land they had wrested from its ancient possessors with a high and haughty hand. Compared with them the palefaces of the present day were pygmies, in both art and arms.
They drove the Indians from their homes, putting them to the sword, and occupying the valleys in which their fathers had dwelt before them since the world began.
At length, in the height of their power and glory, when they remembered justice and mercy no more and became proud and lifted up, the Great Spirit descended from above, sweeping them with fire and deluge from the face of the earth.
The mounds we [i.e. the speaker Chief Rolling Thunder and his Spanish listener] had seen on the tablelands were the remnants of their fortresses, and the crumbling ruins that surrounded us all that remained of a mighty city.[i]
The word Nahoolo or Nahullo “is now emphatically applied to the white race and no other... The Nahullo were of white complexion, according to Choctaw tradition, and were still an existing people at the time of the advent of the Choctaws to Mississippi,” concludes Cushman (p 153).
In agreement, the Indian trader Adair often refers to the Nani Ishtahoolo as departed white ghosts vested with spiritual powers whose descendants were priests and magicians.
Their cries and magic spells could still be heard in the mounds like those at Ocmulgee.[ii] These references contribute to the suspicion that the “Indians” who preceded Asiatic tribes from Mexico were, as we would say today, Caucasian.
About exactly a year ago on this blog, we published a post about "Neanderthals in America," mentioning also the peculiar archaic skeleton that is now a roadside attraction in Arizona, called The Thing. In the meantime, we acquired a copy of Fritz Zimmerman's book, The Nephilim Chronicles, which reproduces over 300 historical accounts of Giant skeletons.
Many are associated with the earliest mound sites in America, but Zimmerman's survey of this worldwide phenomenon ranges from the Hunter-Fisher People of northeast Europe and Red Paint People whose movements were circumpolar to the giants of the Bible, noted by the Babylonian Talmud as having double rows of teeth, and "Giants' Remains in the British Isles" (pp. 157-65).
Navajo legends speak of the Starnake People, a regal race of white giants endowed with mining technology who dominated the West, enslaved lesser tribes and had strongholds all through the Americas. They were either extinguished or "went back to the heavens."
The name may be a corruption of the Biblical race known as Anakim (Num. 13:33, Deut. 1:28). The name Og (Hebrew "chief") appears to be characteristic (see Zimmerman, pp. 188-91). The ogham alphabet is attributed to this cultural founder.
Certainly, many of the mound sites uncovered in the nineteenth century tell a story of constant warfare by incoming Asiatic tribes against the giants occupying the land. One grisly scene showed thousands of skeletons, male, female and young heaped in a mass grave, with warriors' skulls pierced by arrows.
It would appear that as these aboriginal inhabitants of the Ohio Valley were gradually displaced, some members of their society went over into the ranks of the new conquerors, bequeathing a strain of great stature still noticeable, for instance, in the Mobilian chief Tuscaloosa and DeSoto's Indian queen Cofitachiqui, both of whom were said to be seven feet tall.
We are struck by the following traits of this giant race or ethnic group from human prehistory:
-Mother Goddess religion
-Copper (not bronze) axes
-Polished slate tools including fishing plummets, which were apparently regarded as sacred
-Belief that the Grandmother Moon was the repository of souls
-Diet emphasizing shellfish (for which the double row of teeth probably was selected as an evolutionary advantage in their beachcomber origin out of Africa?)
-Building of fish weirs in North American rivers to trap migrating eels
-Certain vegetarian habits (wild rice, for instance)
-Inscriptions on artifacts, especially pipes, often buried with the dead
-Use of coal and petroleum
-Weaving and looms
-Knowledge of seafaring, mathematics and engineering, including canals and irrigation
-Burying of a dog with a child to guard the latter in the afterlife
-A language apparently Afro-Asiatic and close to Semitic tongues
-Kingcraft: nobles were buried in seated positions on thrones surrounded by a coterie of their retainers
When Denisovan Man was first discovered, we had just a fingerbone to go on. We can only extrapolate the look of the skull. Geneticists conjecture, however, that it was an Austronesian type.
We suggest that a modern prize of science will belong to the geneticist who can derive ancient DNA to study and classify from the bones of giant hominids that are unavoidably plentiful in the archeological and mythological records of humankind.
Maybe the owner of The Thing will allow researchers to borrow one of the femurs for laboratory analysis and measurement.
If that's not possible, the Smithsonian, Carnegie Institute and dozens of local historical societies throughout the Midwest have basements and storage facilities brimming with these relics of American history.

How acidic is the ocean on Saturn's icy moon Enceladus? It's a fundamental question to understanding if this geyser-spouting moon could support life.
Enceladus is part of a family of icy worlds, including Europa (at Jupiter) and Titan (also at Saturn), populating our outer solar system. These bodies are some of the most promising places for life because they receive tidal energy from the gas giants they orbit and some contain liquid water.
The Cassini spacecraft has been taking regular measurements of Enceladus for more than a decade to evaluate its environment. One of the key factors influencing the habitability of an environment is its chemical composition, in particular its pH. On Earth, it's possible for life to exist near the extremes of the pH scale that ranges from 0 (battery acid) to 14 (drain cleaner). Knowing the pH can help us to identify geochemical reactions that affect the habitability of an environment, because many reactions cause predictable changes in pH.
Oceanography of another world
While we cannot stick a strip of pH paper into the ocean water on Enceladus to measure the pH directly, it can be estimated by looking at molecules in its plumes that change form in response to pH changes.

Recently, geochemist Christopher Glein led a team that developed a new approach to estimating the pH of Enceladus' ocean using observational data of the carbonate geochemistry of plume material. This is a classic problem in geochemical studies of Earth (such as rainwater), but scientists can now solve the carbonate problem on an extraterrestrial body thanks to measurements of dissolved inorganic carbon by the Cosmic Dust Analyzer (CDA), and carbon dioxide gas by the Ion and Neutral Mass Spectrometer (INMS) onboard Cassini.
Glein's team tried to create the most comprehensive chemical model to date of the ocean by accounting for compositional constraints from both INMS and CDA, such as the salinity of the plume. Their model suggests that Enceladus has a sodium, chloride and carbonate ocean with an alkaline pH of 11 or 12, close to the equivalent of ammonia or soapy water. The estimated pH is slightly higher by 1 to 2 units than an earlier estimate based on CDA data alone, but the different modeling approaches are consistent in terms of the overall chemistry of an alkaline ocean.
"It's encouraging that there is general agreement, considering that these approaches are based on spacecraft data from a plume. This is much more difficult than getting the pH of a swimming pool, so it would not be surprising if the models are missing some of the details. Of course, we are trying to reconcile the data as much as possible because the details may provide clues to understanding the eruptive processes that turn an ocean's chemistry into a plume," said Glein.
A paper based on Glein's research, "The pH of Enceladus' ocean," was published in Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta in August. Glein is a research scientist at Southwest Research Institute, but completed the research while at the Carnegie Institution of Washington. The work was funded by the NASA Astrobiology Institute element of the Astrobiology Program at NASA.
Hydrothermal activity for life

It is believed that Enceladus' alkaline chemistry comes from a geochemical process called serpentinization. This happens when a rock that is rich in magnesium and iron is converted to clay-type minerals. On Earth, we see this process in very limited locations, such as the low-temperature hydrothermal vent field named Lost City in the Atlantic Ocean.
"It's exactly what we would expect if there is a liquid water ocean in contact with rocks on and below the ocean floor on Enceladus," Glein said.
In addition to a high pH, this process produces hydrogen gas, a potent fuel that can drive the formation of organic molecules that in some cases can be building blocks of life.
An unresolved question, however, is whether serpentinization is taking place now. If the activity is ongoing, this would provide habitable conditions, which could support an ecosystem similar to Lost City. If it occurred long ago, the high pH may be a relict and life may be less likely, although still not impossible if there are other sources of chemical energy.
Cassini did a final flyby of Enceladus in late October that targeted the chemistry of the plumes directly. The INMS team, which includes Glein, is searching for molecular hydrogen in that plume, which would be chemical evidence of active serpentinization. An absence of molecular hydrogen would be a sign that the serpentinization is extinct.
The data analysis from this flyby may be completed in time for the American Geophysical Union's fall meeting in December. Glein added that the planned NASA mission to Europa includes advanced descendants of both the CDA and INMS instruments, meaning that in a decade or two, scientists can start to make these same measurements at Europa. This will allow us to better understand the importance of serpentinization across the Solar System.
"On other icy worlds, if they have liquid water oceans, [serpentinization] should be inevitable because these bodies are massive mixtures of water and rock," he said. "Maybe the methane we see in Titan's atmosphere formed when hydrogen from serpentinization combined with deep carbon in a hydrothermal environment. There may also be liquid water on [dwarf planet] Pluto, through cryovolcanoes and a youthful surface. We expect there to be some degree of water-rock interaction on suchocean worlds, setting the stage for serpentinization and the generation of hydrogen that could be utilized if there is anyone out there."
You can now send a 'message in a bottle' that'll reach the North Star in 434 years

If you've ever wanted to reach out to potential life outside of our Solar System, this is your chance. A new project will beam people's text-based messages into space at light speed later this year, with the communications predicted to reachPolaris - or the North Star - in 434 years.
The messages will be transmitted as radio signals, and the researchers hope they'll form something of a 'time capsule' that will reveal insights into how we feel about the environment at this crucial point in our history. "This project will create a culturally inspired message in a bottle capturing global perspectives that will travel into space for aeons," explains one of the project coordinators, Paul Quast, from the University of Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland.
The 3-minute binary transmission was put together by Frank Drake, creator of the famous Drake equation, and astronomer Carl Sagan, and contained a whole lot of encoded information about our DNA, a graphic image of a human, a map of the Solar System, and other information that aliens might find handy if they wanted to know more about us.
Since then, a range of other projects have beamed radio-wave transmissions towards distant planets and stars, mostly with the aim of providing any intercepting extraterrestrial intelligence with crucial insights into humanity. Or, if nothing else, asking them to hit us back with a message of their own.
This new project, titled A Simple Response, is a little different, because its aim isn't to speak to life outside our planet (although there's always the possibility of the transmission being intercepted). Instead, the researchers involved hope the messages will help them understand more about how people around the world think about climate change, regardless of geography or background.
To that end, the project is asking people to answer a simple question: "How will our present environmental interactions shape the future?" The results will be compiled and beamed into interstellar space as radio waves in August this year. That next step is something they're now working on with physicists and astronomers at the University of Edinburgh.
Thanks to the fact that radio waves travel at the speed of light, within 21 hours of transmission, the signal will have travelled deeper into space than one of our most famous message-carriers - Voyager 1, which was launched in 1977 and is now venturing through interstellar space.
Polaris was chosen as the target for the new message because of its significance as a reference point for navigators and stargazers throughout the ages, the project website explains.
It also allows us the emotional benefits of being able to track our tiny human time capsule as it makes it way out into the depths of space. And if that doesn't help to remind people that we're all just one species, living on lonely rock with the common goal of survival, I don't know what will.
CubeSats offer the chance for unprecedented access to space at a low cost. Low enough, indeed, that a group of UFO researchers were able to crowdsource the funds on IndieGoGo to launch their own UFO-hunting satellite into low-Earth orbit.
It all started on IndieGoGo with the CubeSat 4 Disclosure project, led by Vancouver-based UFO researcher David Cote. While the project fell short of its $50,000 goal, they were able to get $16,641, enough to nearly buy them the $19,000 CubeSat kit. They've turned to Kickstarter, where they hope to raise an additional $10,000 to cover the cost of the science instruments.
Once they raise those funds, the group of six behind the CubeSat 4 Disclosure project will be able to launch their small sat into space from the Mojave Desert-based Interorbital Systems, which also provided the CubeSat system. The cost of the kit includes the cost of the launch. It will spend three months in low-Earth orbit, armed with a radiation detector and a camera. If an anomalous amount of energy is picked up, it'll sprout into action and take pictures of whatever is going on.
While the group hopes to find the smoking gun of UFO research (a close-up picture of an alien craft), it also may be able to help more mainstream scientists by detecting solar flares and other upper atmosphere phenomena in its short time. After three months, the craft will likely have been deorbited by gravity and solar radiation. The group promises to make their findings open source ... whatever findings they may have.
"Maybe we'll get data readings and pictures of solar-flare caused auroras. Maybe we'll capture images of some very interesting meteors," Cote said on the IndieGoGo page. "And maybe we'll actually capture a verifiable craft."
While plenty of UFO researchers keep an eye on the International Space Station's live feeds and there's always a headline in British tabloids about something Curiosity saw in the distance on Mars, this may be the first dedicated UFO hunting satellite. And with launch kits as low as $20,000, it probably won't be the last.

Aliens watching might think we're too close to the Sun.
With so much human hope and endeavour focused on the task of identifying extraterrestrial life on worlds outside our Solar System, it can be pretty disheartening when scientists point out how slim the prospects could really be.
Which is why a recent finding that Earth itself would only rate an 82 percent chance of being habitable – per a new calculation designed to rate exoplanet habitability – could actually be considered rather positive news. Wait… what?
Yes, strange as it sounds, researchers say that their 'habitability index', developed to help scientists prioritise the search for alien life on exoplanets, doesn't actually award Earth a 100 percent score in terms of the likelihood of being able to sustain life.
Which is more than a little ironic, when you think about it, given it's the only planet we 100 percent know for sure does sustain life. So why the less-than-perfect rating?
"Basically, where we lose some of the probability, or chance for life, is that we could be too close to the [Sun]," said astronomer Rory Barnes from the University of Washington. "We actually are kind of close to the inner edge of the habitable zone. If we spotted Earth with our current techniques, we would reasonably conclude that it could be too hot for life."
Barnes and his fellow researchers developed their index last year, which ranks exoplanets based on habitability-influencing factors such as whether their atmospheric pressure would be sufficient for liquid water to exist on the surface, how rocky they are, and how much energy they absorb or reflect from their host star.
When these details are considered, the researchers say Earth would look good but not great to alien astronomers observing our home from afar. Chiefly, this is because our proximity to the Sun might lead them to conclude that we're simply too close to the superheated inner edge of our star's habitable zone.
"Remember, we have to think about Earth as if we don't know anything about it,"said Barnes. "We don't know that it's got oceans, and whales and things like that – imagine it's just this thing that dims some of the light around a nearby star when it passes."
According to the researchers, this could mean astronomers on other planets – if they were to arrive at the same conclusions – might focus their efforts on other planets offering better habitability scores than Earth and overlook us entirely, having taken our home as being a little on the crispy side.
"The point of the paper is that the [higher-ranking planet] is the best to spend our time on. Because it's less in danger," said Barnes. "But, it's obviously based on this very limited information."

While on active duty he worked as a Weapons Controller, flew target drones, commanded inter-continental ballistic missiles as a launch officer, and a worked as an Air Force missile propulsion engineer on the Titan III program.

The flyby of asteroid 2013 TX68 is the closest ever predicted Earth approach for an object this large. The 150 feet (45 meters) rock could pass 11,000 miles (17,000km) from Earth on March 5th which is 21 times closer to our planet than the moon, although NASA admits it might also pass nine million miles away as the asteroid’s orbit is highly uncertain (condition code 7) and the distance of its pass is not precisely known at this time experts say.
However, if the asteroid passes at its closest possible distance of just 11,000 miles (17,000 km), the flyby will be an exceedingly close one and If that were the case, the asteroid would come even closer than orbiting communications satellites.
Asteroid 2013 TX68 has an estimated mass of about 130,000 metric tons. The space rock is traveling at about 32,211 miles per hour (51,839 kilometers per hour), relative to Earth.
According to NASA, if an asteroid of a size similar to that of 2013 TX68 were to impact Earth, it would release approximately 2.5 megatons of energy in the atmosphere and would be expected to cause regional devastation.
A comparison to the impact potential of an asteroid the size of 2013 TX68 could be made to the impact of a near-Earth object that occurred in 1908 in Tuguska, Siberia.
Known in the asteroid community as the “Tunguska Event,” this impact of an asteroid just slightly smaller than 2013 TX68 (approximately 100 – 130 feet/30-40 meters across) is believed to have flattened about 825 square miles (2200 square kilometers) of forest in and around the Podkamennaya Tunguska River in what is now Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia.
The asteroid was discovered by the NASA-funded Catalina Sky Survey on Oct. 6, 2013, as it approached Earth on the nighttime side. After three days of tracking, the asteroid passed into the daytime sky and could no longer be observed. Because it was not tracked for very long,
Although scientists cannot predict its precise orbit around the sun, they say that it cannot impact Earth during its flyby next month.
Furthermore, it seems cosmic rays are rising rapidly and the Earth is tilting North, which is a physical Pole Shift combined with a magnetic polar shift. Op Facebook gaat een filmpje van een slapende baby viraal omdat er een geest naast het bed lijkt te zitten. De video is inmiddels al meer dan twee miljoen keer bekeken en ruim 23.000 keer gedeeld.
Moeder Jade Yates uit het Australische Victoria geloofde tot voor kort nooit in geesten, maar daar is door dit filmpje verandering in gekomen. In de video lijken één of meerdere geesten bij de slapende Ruby aanwezig te zijn.
De moeder meent dat er een baby en een volwassene bij Ruby te zien zijn. Volgens haar hebben de geesten geen kwade bedoelingen. “Ik denk niet dat ze slecht zijn, de volwassene is erg oplettend,” zegt ze.
Over de geest wordt inmiddels druk gespeculeerd. Sommigen denken dat de geest een overleden baby is. Yates laat weten dat er bij haar in de buurt pas geleden een oude man is overleden. Die hernieuwde formele belangstelling is nodig om enerzijds de massa langzaam te laten wennen aan het idee dat er misschien toch wel iets meer is in onze zonnestelsel dan ze altijd hebben gedacht mede omdat steeds meer mensen ook met het blote oog dingen waarnemen en anderzijds om de steeds verdergaande voorbereidingen van de elite enigszins te maskeren.
In plaats van een soort Nibiru of Planet X disclosure kiest men ervoor om kleine beetjes waarheid naar buiten te laten lekken zoals de bekendmaking van “het ontdekken” van een tot nu toe onbekende planeet in ons zonnestelsel.
De gevolgen van de nadering van dit mini-zonnestelsel beginnen natuurlijk steeds duidelijker te worden. Niet alleen worden er fysiek planeten waargenomen rondom de zon, ook de invloeden van deze enorme planeet op onze aarde begint steeds merkbaarder te worden.
Eén van die dingen is dat er steeds meer asteroïden onze kant op komen en waarvoor nu in alle haast door NASA een nieuwe speciale afdeling in het leven is geroepen zoals we eerder deze week schreven.
Net zoals vele mensen zich afvragen of NASA misschien iets weet dat zij niet weten, geldt dat een beetje hetzelfde voor een aankondiging die enkele dagen geleden door het Witte Huis werd gedaan.
Onder het mom dat The Big One (mega aardbeving) misschien toch vroeg of laat zal toeslaan, werd afgelopen dinsdag door het Witte Huis ineens een soort live topoverleg gevoerd met allerlei wetenschappers en dergelijke over wat men kan doen om beter voorbereid te zijn op aardbevingen.
Het doel was ondanks dat niemand precies kan voorspellen waar aardbevingen zullen plaatsvinden toch een systeem te ontwikkelen waarbij mensen wellicht tijdig gewaarschuwd kunnen worden voor een ophanden zijnde aardbeving.
Met dit overleg werd een nieuw programma gelanceerd dat Earthquake Resilience Summit heet en waar aan seismologen en wetenschappers wordt gevraagd om mee te denken aan een zogenaamd “early warning system”.
Op zich zou dit misschien allemaal niet zo’n opvallend bericht, behalve wanneer je weer kijkt naar de timing.
Waarom wordt er nu ineens topoverleg gevoerd op het Witte Huis in verband met dreigingen van aardbevingen? Waarom wordt nu ineens een nieuwe afdeling van NASA in het leven geroepen om onbekende objecten in de ruimte op te sporen?
Dit alles wordt gedaan zodat de elite voldoende gelegenheid krijgt om zich te barricaderen in de grote ondergrondse schuilplaatsen die wereldwijd zijn gemaakt.
Wat dit alles ook laat zien, is dat het nu echt dichterbij komt, maar ook dat het niet volgende maand ineens op de stoep staat. Gezien de manier waarop de elite het nu speelt en de voorbereidingen die nu in gang worden gezet, lijkt het meer iets van ergens tussen de vijf en tien jaar van nu.
De wereld wordt voorbereid op allerlei oefeningen en observaties in de ruimte. Als schuldige voor de steeds verder toenemende aardbevingen en vulkaanuitbarstingen zal ongetwijfeld de opwarming van de aarde aangewezen worden.
En misschien is het toeval, maar enige weken geleden verscheen het bericht dat de Amerikaanse warenhuisgigant Wal-Mart honderden winkels in Amerika gaat sluiten, maar dat er ook weer talloze nieuwe winkels geopend zullen worden.
Op het volgende plaatje is te zien waar die winkelsluitingen in Amerika zullen plaatsvinden. Dan zie je dat ze behoorlijk geconcentreerd zijn op bepaalde locaties zoals midden Amerika en delen van de oostkust.
Bij de Zeta’s van Nancy Lieder wordt al langere tijd gesproken over de komende aardbevingen bij de zogenaamde New Madrid breuklijn in het midden van Amerika.
Niet alleen zullen zich daar zware aardbevingen voor doen, ook zal na de passage van Nibiru de kustlijn en het midden van Amerika behoorlijk zijn veranderd.
Op de volgende afbeelding is te zien waar dan volgens de Zeta’s straks de nieuwe kustlijn zal liggen.
Dan zie je dat dit precies de plaatsen zijn waar Wal-Mart nu ineens talloze winkels sluit om elders in Amerika nieuwe winkels neer te zetten. Met andere woorden, zij weten wat er gaat komen en anticiperen daar nu op door winkels in grote risicogebieden te sluiten.
Zoals we eerder schreven is eigenlijk de enige manier om erachter te komen hoelang het nog gaat duren voordat er echt heftige dingen gaan gebeuren dankzij de nadering van het mini-zonnestelsel Nibiru om goed je ogen open te houden en het signaleren van afwijkende dingen.
Misschien heeft Wal-Mart hele andere redenen om al die winkels daar te sluiten en nieuwe te openen op andere locaties. Misschien heeft het Witte Huis de beste bedoelingen om een topoverleg te beleggen voor komende aardbevingen en misschien is NASA nu echt wakker geschrokken en gaan ze beter uitkijken naar asteroïden die onze kant op komen.
Gezien de historie echter waar zo goed als alles verborgen wordt gehouden voor de mensheid en een wereld waar “toeval” alleen in Israël bestaat, kan het absoluut geen kwaad om iets verder te denken en niet alles maar op face value aan te nemen als waar.
Het schijnt dat de Tweede Kamer gisteren nogal verbijsterd was over het feit dat Nederland heeft verzuimd om essentiële radarbeelden op te vragen bij Oekraïne.
Het Openbaar Ministerie zegt echter vol vertrouwen die radarbeelden níet nodig te hebben om de schuldigen aan te kunnen wijzen.
De oppositie is verbijsterd over hoe het kabinet omgaat met de opsporing van MH17-daders. Kamerleden snappen niet waarom er niet nu al al het mogelijke gedaan wordt om bewijs te verzamelen.
De uitleg van minister Van der Steur (Veiligheid en Justitie), minister Koenders (Buitenlandse Zaken) en staatssecretaris Dijksma (Infrastructuur) kan daar vanavond tijdens een debat over de MH17-ramp, niets aan veranderen. Ook de coalitie is kritisch over de opstelling van de bewindslieden.
De volgende zin in het verslag van de Telegraaf zegt eigenlijk alles:
Het kabinet blijft beweren dat het OM zelf vindt dat het geen extra radargegevens nodig heeft om de daders te vervolgen.
Dat kan dan heel leuk worden straks als het OM komt met de daders. Ze hebben de radarbeelden klaarblijkelijk niet nodig om vast te kunnen stellen wie dat vliegtuig uit de lucht heeft geschoten.
We kunnen niet wachten op de eindrapport van het OM want daarin zal ook ongetwijfeld worden verteld welk militair toestel zich ophield nabij het ten dode opgeschreven Malaysia Airlines toestel.
Dat vliegtuig dat door talloze getuigen op de grond is gezien en te bekijken en beluisteren waren in een heel snel geschrapt BBC programma.
Het vliegtuig dat ook verscheen tijdens de Russische persconferentie direct na de ramp. Een militaire jet die klom op een onderscheppingskoers naar vlucht MH17 en zich slechts op een paar kilometer afstand bevond.
Ongeacht welk eindrapport het OM later zal presenteren, ze moeten daarin hoe dan ook met een verklaring komen over dat onbekende toestel.
Oekraïne beweert die dag geen militaire toestellen in de lucht te hebben gehad. Van welk land was die jet dan wel als het niet van Oekraïne was?
Het Russisch Onderzoekscomité dat onderzoek doet naar de ramp met MH17 heeft het verhaal van de Oekraïense getuige bevestigd die vertelde dat hij een SU-25 vliegtuig zag vertrekken op 17 juli, uitgerust met twee air-to-air raketten en dat deze zonder deze wapens terugkeerde op de basis.
Uitzonderlijk intelligent van het OM dat ze kunnen bepalen of en welke jet er daar ter plaatse was zonder dat ze daarvoor radarbeelden nodig hebben. Er zijn maar weinig landen op de wereld die zo’n knap OM hebben als wij.
Daarnaast zullen ze ongetwijfeld die getuigen ook zelf hebben gehoord (niet dus) want dat is natuurlijk standaard onderdeel van een uitgebreid onderzoek.
Alles komt goed want onze grote leider heeft beloofd dat de onderste steen boven komt en dan zal het gelukkig niet lang meer duren voordat we na al die tijd weten welk vliegtuig zich die dag in de buurt van MH17 op hield.

Anonymous have leaked information that they claim originate from NASA servers, showing evidence of an extensive drone weather modification program that prove that Chemtrails exist.
Anonsec released a paper that contained a detailed account of their hack, as well as analysis of the NASA data they recovered. The data reveals information about NASA’s connection to weather modification research in a log of a DC-8 jetliner, which was conducting a flight in accordance with their “Alternative-Fuel Effects on Contrails and Cruise EmiSSions” project.
Trunews.com reports: Anonsec Admin Dêfãult Vírüsa leaked the information early last week to Mikael Thalen of I-n-f-o-w-a-r-s, before making a public release Sunday. Also released Sunday was a 276 Gigabyte (GB) data package of 631 aircraft and radar videos, 2,143 flight logs and the personal data of 2,414 NASA employees.
In Anonsec’s zine, they claim that they were discovered and lost access to the NASA servers after altering the flight path of a $222.7 million US Drone flying across the Pacific. In the hijacking, the group planned to crash the GlowbalHawk drone into the ocean.
NASA officials have not yet commented on the information leak, nor confirmed its validity, but the released NASA employee information has been verified as real and a drone flight log has been discovered which coincides with Anonsec’s story.
In an official statement released by headquarters spokesman Allard Beutel, NASA is denying the claims made by the hacking group AnonSec ( via anonews.co ). Beutel also inferred that the information leaked was already public by saying:
NASA strives to make our scientific data publicly available, including large data sets, which seems to be how the information in question was retrieved.
The statement ended with an attempt to calm nerves by reiterating their bottom line that:
NASA takes cybersecurity very seriously and will continue to fully investigate all of these allegations.

These burdening questions have probably made one consider and then reconsider the facts presented, so what key element could unlock a crazy theory and turn it into an actual belief? What could convince me that you are not talking nonsense? Well, it’s quite easy – EVIDENCE.
For a better understanding of this topic, the following video will show how a UFO is detonated over a large populated area of San Diego, spraying it with unknown substances.
The bright orb was deliberately launched from a high altitude and over a densely populated area, full of houses and people. If relevant evidence is shared on the internet, it will be deleted sooner or later if it reaches a large number of people, so how can we rely on the proof if some entities do not allow it to be uncovered? We strongly believe that going outside, doing some research on our own will undoubtedly lead us to the truth.
There is no need for HD video evidence in order to see the obvious, only to open our eyes and to start searching for ourselves. Many strange things are going on literally above our heads, but there is some sort of distortion created using the chem-bombs presented in the video above that doesn’t allow people to have a clear view of what is actually happening up there.

Experts declared a video footage showing a cluster of UFOs authentic. Taken in the sky of Moscow, the video shows four unidentified lights that seem to hover and swoop in apparently synchronised flying.
The video has gotten thousands of views, mostly from people in Russia that are intrigued by the great speed of the objects before they hover together.
The videographer, who only known as Timur, said in the local media that there was one ball to the left, two balls in the middle, and less bright one to the right. He revealed that the one on the right would disappear and come back at times. All four balls formed a geometric shape of a rhombus, Timur described.
Some viewers of the video suggest that the lights can be light reflections on the ground. However, Timur dismissed this theory and explained that he never seen anything like those objects since living in the district for two years.
Now, the sighting has gotten more interesting as Russian UFO expert Vadim Chernobrov believes the footage is genuine. He confirms that the lights can’t be explained as either a cosmic or an atmospheric image. He also dismisses the possibility of them to be some mirage because of the precise geometric form of the strange objects.
Some have speculated they could be Chinese lanterns, but Chernobrov also dismissed the possibility because of the speed and movements of the objects.

Everyone knows that UFOs are cool, but the surprisingly low temperatures of one cosmic flying saucer may force astronomers to rethink their ideas about how planets form.
Scientists have made the first direct measurements of large dust grains in the planet-forming region of a disk dubbed the Flying Saucer, which surrounds a young star in the star-formation region Rho Ophiuchi, about 400 light-years from Earth. The researchers created a video to zoom in on the cosmic Flying Saucer to highlight their study.
"The disk is not observed against a black and empty night sky. Instead, it's seen in silhouette in front of the glow of the Rho Ophiuchi Nebula," study lead author Stéphane Guilloteau, of France's Laboratoire d’Astrophysique de Bordeaux, said in a statement. "The resulting negative signal means that parts of the disk are colder than the background." [Planet Being Assembled As Astronomers Watch (Video)]

The Hubble Space Telescope captured this infrared view of the young star 2MASS J16281370-2431391, which is surrounded by a disk of gas and dust that has been nicknamed the Flying Saucer.

The team found that temperatures in the disk were as low as minus 447 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 266 degrees Celsius), only a few degrees above absolute zero. Models of planet formation suggest that the disk should be between minus 432 and minus 423 F (minus 258 to minus 253 C).
The surprisingly low temperatures suggest that scientists might need to take another look at how planets form within the disks surrounding newborn stars, researchers said.
"To work out the impact of this discovery on disk structure, we have to find out what plausible dust properties can result in such low temperatures," co-author Emmanuel di Folco, also of Laboratoire d’Astrophysique, said in the same statement.
The young star 2MASS J16281370-2431391 lies in the Rho Ophiuchi star formation region, about 400 light-years from Earth. It is surrounded by a protoplanetary disk of gas and dust that is seen nearly edge-on from Earth; the disk's appearance in visible-light images has led to its being nicknamed the Flying Saucer. "We have a few ideas — for example, the temperature may depend on grain size, with the bigger grains cooler than the smaller ones," di Folco added. "But it is too early to be sure."
If such low temperatures are commonly found within other proto planetary disks, there could be intriguing implications for how worlds form around stars. Different dust properties could affect how particles come together to build planets, and could even result in giant planets forming closer to their parent stars than current models allow, study team members said.
Planetary disks form at various angles with respect to the sun. However, the disk studied by the astronomers appears edge-on from Earth, resulting in its nickname, the Flying Saucer.
"The Earth is quite literally in the shadow of the Flying Saucer!" Guilloteau said.

What is Beauty? Victoria’s Secret Angels, I know, but what is the definition of beauty? The combination of elements like shape, color, size that pleases the sense of sight. But, we know that music has a beauty too, smell also, so if you ask me I would say that beauty is a harmony between elements and forces.
Sacred geometry is found where elements meet The Golden Ratio (1.618033989...) and it exists through all The Universe between gravity of planets, Nature, design of flowers, shape of animals, proportions of land, crop circles, it also exists in many manmade objects or famous arts like the works of Leonardo DaVinci, Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, Greek and Roman architecture... Almost everything we find harmonious, beautiful, and with that x-factor we cannot explain has The Golden Ratio shinning through it.
Why is this kept a secret? Well, it’s like a magic show. We find magic in things with The Golden Ratio but we don’t know why or how. The magician knows the trick and in order to manipulate the audience nobody else is allowed to know how it’s done.
Do you know that in 1955 the International Standardization Organization made 440 Hz a general tuning standard for musical pitch? Before that was 432 Hz.
As you may know sounds have the biggest impact in our thinking. 432 Hz makes the sound of music more harmonious, calm, promotes happiness and deep understanding, passion. 440 Hz is more energetic, faster, it is almost like racing.
It is more competitive and focusing on the details, the understanding of the things we can see. So why would someone and most importantly how, decides that 440 Hz is better than 432 Hz?
Because music touches us where nothing else can, where the essence of our Emotional Being is, and if you control what emotions/thoughts the music promotes, than your work of controlling the world is 99% done.
“They” don’t want people to understand Our True Nature and Our Higher Self. They want us to be in a hurry, to believe only what we see and be competitive about material things.

When our Sun dies, we need to find a new home planet. And red dwarfs may hold the key (and the planets) to keep the human race living.
There will come a time that the universe will turn dark. A time after all the stars die out. We know that our beloved Sun will soon lose its energy. When this happens, humans must find another habitable planet to call home. Fortunately, there will be other stars….for a time anyways.
The hero of this tale are the red dwarfs. They are tiny stars that may be our best bet to find a habitable new home planet.
In our universe, 70% of all stars are red dwarfs. They are very dim stars and cannot be seen by the naked eye. Even with our high-level equipment, we can only see red dwarfs that are relatively close to our planet.
Ultimately, 20 to 30 of the stars near Earth are classified as red dwarfs. They would be he easiest for us to get to, obviously. And they are such good candidates for life after Earth because these stars fuse hydrogen into helium. However, they mix helium and hydrogen continuously, so they use up their fuel very slowly before extinguishing. Because they burn so very slowly, they have a life span average of 1 to 10 trillion years.
Our Sun can survive another 5 billion.

As an interesting aside, since the universe is estimated to be around 13.75 billion years old, all red dwarfs are therefore just “babies.” To date, there are no “old” red dwarfs in existence.
Ultimately, scientists assert that it is these red dwarfs that are our best chances of finding another habitable Earth-like planet. It is estimated that 5% of red dwarfs may host habitable planets like ours. This means we have around 50 billion potential planets to choose from.
These stars are known to be hosts to planets half (or up to four times) the mass of our planet. However, these planets need be close to the red dwarfs in order to be habitable, as they are somewhat cooler stars than our own. This posts several problems for the planets.
If a planet is too close to the star, only one side of it would face the sun; as a result, the other side of the planet would be somewhat less than habitable. Too close, and gravitational forces could also squeeze the planet, causing it to lose water and become too hot as well.
Red dwarfs also vary in energy input, so this means that some of them are way too dim. This affects the planet’s temperature and lowers it down to freezing levels. Some may also have sudden outbursts of flares.
Still, since these stars have such a long lifespan, they could be the only way to guarantee our future in the long term (the very long term, that is).
Our planet is estimated to be 4 billion years old. Our Sun will continue to provide us with energy for another 1 billion years. So we still have plenty of time to go planet-hunting.
But in reality, all stars will lose their energy and die out some day.
These micro-drones are expected to change the face of counter terrorism and warfare, as well as law enforcement and surveillance, in a big way.
CICADA
The Close-In Covert Autonomous Disposable Aircraft, or CICADA, is playfully described as a “paper airplane with a circuit board” in a recent AFP article. The micro-drone is intended to be deployed in, what the U.S. military has taken to calling, “swarms.”
The CICADA swarm is dropped from an airplane to glide down to the Earth’s surface, directed by an on-board GPS which can guide the drones to within 4.5 meters (approx. 15 ft) of its target destination from a 17 km (approx. 11 mile) descent.
The CICADA is designed to operate as miniature, remote listening posts that, when scattered across a large area, can be used to monitor enemy activity. The Naval Research Laboratory’s Aaron Kahn spoke to the AFP, saying that the military can “equip these with a microphone or a seismic detector, drop them on that road, and it will tell you ‘I heard a truck or a car travel along that road.’ You know how fast and which direction they’re traveling.”
At a Department of Defense Lab Day event in Washington, D.C. back in May, aerospace engineer Daniel Edwardsstates that the tiny drones were amazingly durable, and could keep going in spite of most encounters.
He told The Washington Post, “they’ve flown through trees. They’ve hit asphalt runways. They have tumbled in gravel. They’ve had sand in them. They only thing that we found that killed them was desert shrubbery.”
Aside from surveillance, another notable application of the CICADA involves the delivery of “payloads at precise waypoints,” according to an official description by the Naval Research Lab.
This indicates the CICADA can possibly be used to deliver explosives.
BLACK HORNET

However, these aren’t the first little drones to be employed in combat situations. Another surveillance micro-drone has already been used by the British military. This was in Afghanistan back in 2012.
Dubbed as the first “commercially available personal Reconnaissance System,” the Black Hornet is a small helicopter that weighs less than 250 grams (0.5 pound) that can either be remotely controlled or programmed for automated flight.
It is also has an on-board lightweight camera and capable of transmitting live video. Although this may raise concerns about spying and surveillance, the rise of robotic eyes and ears in the military could ultimately help save lives.

US National Academy of Medicine wants to modify the DNA of embryos to prevent diseases; however, the FDA is concerned about the future of children with 3 genetic parents.
The US National Academy of Medicine is looking to the US Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) to approve clinical trials to transfer DNA from healthy human eggs to diseased embryos.
This controversial gene-therapy technique involves replacing an embryo’s energy-producing mitochondria with a healthy mitochondria from a second woman. The goal here is to prevent diseases from being transmitted to future children.
However, the FDA is hesitant about this procedure due to the safety of mitochondrial replacement, and the psychological and social implications of children with three genetic parents.
Reports indicates that the academy panel suggests limiting the tests of mitochondrial replacement to male embryos as a safety precaution. Male offspring would not be able to pass their modified mitochondria to future generations, because a child inherits its mitochondria from its mother. It also outlines several additional steps to monitor the safety of mitochondrial replacement. These include following the children made by the technique for years and sharing the resulting data on their health.
The advisory panel says that, if mitochondrial replacement is proven safe in male offspring, it could be expanded to female embryos.
On the other side of the world, the United Kingdom approved mitochondrial replacement last year with no restrictions on the sex of the modified embryo. Some ethicist who advised the UK government on the implications of mitochondrial replacement argued that the risks of the technique are poorly understood, but others disagreed with the questions regarding the implications of the procedure, and it went through.

OTHER SCIENTISTS COMMENT ON THE DECISION
Shoukhrat Mitalopov is a reproductive-biology specialist at the Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. In his opinion, the advisory panel’s recommendation is a hollow victory. The FDA commissioned the US$1.1 million National Academy of Medicine review in 2014 after Mitalipov applied to perform a clinical trial of mitochondrial replacement therapy with human embryos.
But the fiscal year 2016 government spending bill enacted last month includes language preventing the FDA from approving any applications to implant modified human embryos into women.
The FDA says it cannot comment on any individual application, but confirms that the law covers mitochondrial transfer, even if the resulting genetic modifications cannot be passed to a third generation.
“The future seems very hazy compared to a few months ago,” Mitalipov says, given the restrictions included in the spending bill. Still, his lab is beginning to breed monkeys treated with mitochondrial replacement, in hopes of understanding how this genetic modification could affect subsequent generations of offspring.
However, the 2016 spending legislation also directs the FDA to appoint an independent committee — including experts from “faith-based institutions” — to review the National Academy of Medicine report and report back to Congress. The FDA says it is reviewing the report and cannot comment on its future plans.
Jeffrey Kahn, a bioethicist at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, who led the academy panel, notes that it included a religious expert. As for the resulting report, he says, ”I feel like it’s had a fairly rigorous review for all issues.”
Others disagree with the National Academy of Medicine panel’s conclusions. The new report “realised all the concerns and leapt to the conclusion that things should go forward despite all the concerns,” says Marcy Darnovsky, president of the non-profit Center for Genetics and Society in Berkeley, California, who has opposed mitochondrial replacement in humans on both safety and ethical grounds.
Darnovsky says that she would like to see an international agreement and legislation to ban techniques that edit embryos’ nuclear genomes. “I would have more faith in the argument if allowing this technology isn’t going to pave the way for more concerning forms of germline editing,” she says.
Yet, one must question why it is ethically responsible to edit the genes of non-human animals but irresponsible to conduct such tests on humans even if there are no associated safety concern. Hopefully, much of these murky waters will be waded in the coming years.

Famous UFO cases: Rendlesham Forest UFO incident – 1980
The Rendlesham Forest Incident is the name given to a series of reported sightings of unexplained lights and the alleged landing of a craft of unknown origin in Rendlesham Forest, Suffolk, England in late December 1980. Some Ufologists believe it is perhaps the most famous UFO event to have happened in Britain, ranking amongst the best-known UFO events worldwide. It has been compared to the Roswell UFO incident in the United States and is sometimes referred to as “Britain’s Roswell”.
Following the event, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) denied that it posed any threat to national security and stated that it was therefore never investigated as a security matter. Later evidence indicated that there was a substantial MoD file on the subject and this led to claims of a cover-up. Some interpreted this as part of a larger pattern of information suppression concerning the true nature of unidentified flying objects, by both the United States and British governments (see the UFO conspiracy theory). However, when the file was released in 2001 it turned out to consist mostly of internal correspondence and responses to inquiries from the public. The lack of any in-depth investigation confirmed that the case was never taken seriously by the MoD.
Location
Rendlesham Forest is owned by the Forestry Commission and consists of approximately 15 square kilometres (3700 acres) of coniferous plantations, interspersed with broadleaved belts, heathland and wetland areas. It is located in the county of Suffolk, about eight miles (13 km) to the east of the town of Ipswich.
The incident occurred in the vicinity of two military bases (now both abandoned by the USAF). These are RAF Bentwaters, which is situated just to the north of the forest, and RAF Woodbridge which extends into the forest from the west. At the time, both were being used by the United States Air Force (USAF) and were under the command of wing commander Colonel Gordon E. Williams. The base commander was Col Ted Conrad, and his deputy was Lieutenant Colonel Charles I. Halt. It is Halt’s written memo to the Ministry of Defence on the incident, and his personal involvement in the second night of the sightings, that has given the case credibility.
The main events of the incident, including the supposed landing, took place in the forest, almost a mile (1600 m) to the east of the East Gate of RAF Woodbridge.
Orford Ness lighthouse, which skeptics identify as the flashing light seen off to the coast by the airmen, is another five miles (8 km) further east of this location.

Date
Retired Sgt. John Burroughs (LE) states that the events took place over three successive nights (pm into am); 25th-26th, 26th-27th and 27th–28th December 1980. One of the key pieces of primary evidence—the “Halt memo”, described below—suggests that the first sightings were on the 27th, rather than 26th. However, the memo was written almost two weeks after the event and its author later agreed that he had probably made a mistake in his recollection of the dates. This discrepancy in dates has not only confused subsequent researchers but also led to confusion at the time, for example in the MoD’s investigation and analysis of contemporaneous radar records.
Main events
26 December
Around 3 a.m. on 26 December 1980 strange lights were reported by a security patrol near the East Gate of RAF Woodbridge. Servicemen initially thought it was a downed aircraft but, upon entering the forest to investigate, they saw many strange lights moving through the trees, as well as a bright light from an unidentified object. Shortly after 4 a.m. local police were called to the scene but reported that the only lights they could see were those from the Orford Ness lighthouse, some miles away on the coast. Some reports claim that local farmyard animals had been behaving in a state of fear and panic, although this was an arable farm and had no animals.
Three servicemen were sent out to investigate and came upon a triangular and brightly lit object silently hovering in the woods several feet off the ground. It was a conical metallic object, suspended in a yellow mist, hovering over a clearing in the trees, with a pulsating blue and red circle of light above. One made detailed notes of its features, touched its “warm” surface, and copied the numerous symbols on its body. The object flew away after their brief encounter. One eyewitness claims to have seen triangular landing gear on the object leaving three impressions in the ground that were visible the next day.
The airmen were allegedly debriefed, threatened and ordered to sign documents that vowed silence; one even claimed to have been forced to sign a document claiming the UFO was a lighthouse. Some reports suggest that they were reportedly ordered to stay quiet, with the warning “bullets are cheap”. Lieutenant Colonel Halt, however, claimed in a 2008 interview for U.S. news channel CNN that to this day he has not been debriefed over the incident.
After daybreak on the morning of 26 December, servicemen returned to the small clearing where the conical object had been seen, and found three small impressions in a triangular pattern, as well as burn marks and broken branches on nearby trees. Plaster casts of the imprints were taken and have been shown in television documentaries. At 10.30 a.m. the local police were called out again, this time to see the impressions on the ground, which they thought could have been made by an animal.
28 December
The servicemen returned to the site again in the early hours of 28 December 1980 with radiation detectors, although the significance of the readings they obtained is disputed. The deputy base commander Lt Col Charles I. Halt investigated this sighting personally and recorded the events on a micro-cassette recorder (see “The Halt Tape”, below). The site investigated by Halt was near the eastern edge of the forest, at approximately 52° 05’ 20” N, 1° 26’ 57” E.
It was during this investigation that a flashing light was seen across the field to the east, almost in line with a farmhouse.
Later, starlike lights were seen in the sky to the north and south, the brightest of which seemed to beam down a stream of light from time to time.
There are claims that the incident was videoed by the USAF; but, if so, the resulting tape has not been made public.
Primary and secondary sources
The first public report of the incident was published in the tabloid newspaper News of the World, on 2 October 1983, beneath the sensational headline UFO lands in Suffolk – and that’s official. The story was based on an account by a former US airman, using the pseudonym Art Wallace (supposedly to protect himself against retribution from the USAF), although his real name was Larry Warren.
The Halt memo
The first piece of primary evidence to be made available to the public was a memorandum written by the deputy base commander, Lt. Col. Charles I. Halt, to the Ministry of Defence (MOD). Known as the “Halt memo”, this was made available publicly in the United States under the US Freedom of Information Act in 1983. The memorandum (left), was dated “13 Jan 81” and headed “Unexplained Lights”. The two-week delay between the incident and the report might account for errors in dates and times given. The memo was not classified in any way.

Statements from eyewitnesses on 26 December
The Scottish researcher James Easton succeeded in obtaining the original witness statements made for Col. Halt by Fred A. Buran, 81st Security Police Squadron, Airman First Class John Burroughs, 81st LE, Airman Edward N. Cabansag, 81st Security Police Squadron, Master-Sergeant J. D. Chandler, 81st Security Police Squadron and Staff-Sergeant Jim Penniston, 81st Security Police Squadron. These documents are now in the public domain and scans of them are available on Ian Ridpath’s website.
These documents describe the sightings of strange lights. Penniston, for instance, states that a “large yellow glowing light was emitting above the trees. In the center of the lighted area directly in the center ground level, there was a red light blinking on and off 5 to 10 sec intervals. And a blue light that was being for the most part steady.”
There were some strange noises, too. Burroughs reported a noise “like a woman was screaming” and also that “you could hear the farm animals making a lot of noises”. Halt heard the same noises two nights later. In a CNN interview in January 2008 he said: “The livestock around the barn seemed to be going crazy”. However, other sources dispute that there were animals on the nearby farm. Such noise could also have been made by Muntjac deer in the forest, which are known for their loud, shrill bark when alarmed. Burroughs’ statement also states that “We could see a beacon going around so we went towards it. We followed it for about two miles [3 km] before we could [see] it was coming from a light house.”
Penniston’s statement is the only one that positively identifies a mechanical object as the source of the lights. He states that he was within 50 metres of the object and “it was defidently mechaniclal in nature” [spelling as in original]. Penniston has shown on television a notebook in which he claims to have made real-time notes and sketches of the object. The notebook is headed with the date 27 December and the time 12:20 (00:20 GMT), which does not accord with the date and time given by the other witnesses for the encounter. In addition, Penniston claims that he saw the object at a different landing site from the one investigated by Halt, much closer to RAF Woodbridge.
The witnesses were unnerved by their experience and believed that they had witnessed something, as Buran expresses it, “out of the realm of explanation”.
The Halt Tape
Also, in 1984, a copy of what became known as the “Halt Tape” fell into the hands of researchers. Unfortunately, because of static and the fact that the tape had been dubbed on an old machine, much of its background conversations could not be discerned. The US Sci Fi Channel acquired the original recording, which documents Halt and his patrol investigating a UFO sighting in Rendlesham Forest in December 1980. This tape not only reveals much more of the background conversations but features names that could not be heard on the poor-quality 1984 dub. The tape has also been transcribed by researcher Ian Ridpath, who includes a link to an audio download.
Suffolk Police log
Suffolk Constabulary have a record, dated 26 December 1980, of a report from the law Enforcement Desk of RAF Woodbridge, stating that “We have a sighting of some unusual lights in the sky, we have sent some unarmed troops to investigate, we are terming it as a U.F.O. at present”. The police investigated this report and the result is recorded as follows: “Air Traffic Control West Drayton checked. No knowledge of aircraft. Reports received of aerial phenomena over southern England during the night. Only lights visible this area was from Orford light house. Search made of area – negative.” The “aerial phenomena” probably refers to the re-entry of the Russian Cosmos 749 rocket which was widely seen over southern England on the evening of December 25. A letter in the police file notes that one of the PCs returned to the site in daylight in case he had missed something. “There was nothing to be seen and he remains unconvinced that the occurrence was genuine. The immediate area was swept by powerful light beams from a landing beacon at RAF Bentwaters and the Orfordness lighthouse. I know from personal experience that at night, in certain weather and cloud conditions, these beams were very pronounced and certainly caused strange visual effects.” A scan of the report is available at Suffolk Constabulary’s website.
Other military installation involvement
Some researchers have claimed that personnel from Porton Down visited Rendlesham in 1980 after the Rendlesham Forest Incident. However, no evidence has been presented and there seems to be confusion with other alleged UFO incidents.
Lord Hill-Norton asked Her Majesty’s Government: “Whether they are aware of any involvement by Special Branch in the investigation of the 1980 Rendlesham Forest Incident [HL303]”. Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean gave the reply that “Special Branch officers may have been aware of the incident but would not have shown any interest unless there was evidence of a potential threat to national security. No such interest appears to have been shown.”
In 2001 the British Government released its file on the incident to researchers following a request from Dr David Clarke under the Code of Practice for Access to Government Documents, a precursor to the Freedom of Information Act. The Ministry of Defence has since made these documents available online. However, the United States continues to remain silent despite the SciFi Channel-sponsored investigation entitled “UFO Invasion at Rendlesham”, the History Channel’s “UFO Files – Britain’s Roswell” and Coalition for Freedom of Information inquiries.
Scepticism
Jim Penniston and John Burroughs went to investigate the craft together. However, there is a major inconsistency in separate interviews of Jim Penniston and John Burroughs. In an interview with Larry King on November 9, 2007, Jim Penniston claimed that he did a 45 minutes full investigation of the craft on the ground, touched the craft and took photos of the craft. However, in a separate interview in Robert Stack’s Unsolved Mysteries, John Burroughs described that after suddenly encountering the craft on the ground, “we all hit the ground, and it went up into the trees”. The interviews with Jim Penniston and John Burroughs have subsequently been made available on Youtube.
Science writer Ian Ridpath investigated the incident in 1983, initially for BBC TV’s Breakfast Time news programme, and on 5 January 1985 wrote an article for The Guardian which did much to discredit the accounts of the UFO sightings at Rendlesham. Ridpath asked local forester Vince Thurkettle about the flashing light, and he indicated that it originated from a nearby lighthouse, which as seen from the forest edge appears to hover slightly above the ground and would appear to move as the witnesses moved. Also, if a UFO was present, the airmen should have reported a second source of light (the lighthouse) in the same line of sight. In the Halt tape (mentioned above), one can hear an unidentified airman call out “There it is again…there it is” with an interval of 5 seconds, the same frequency at which the Orford Ness lighthouse flashes. Video footage of the lighthouse as seen from Col Halt’s vantage point at the edge of the forest shows it flashing at this rate.
Thurkettle saw the alleged “landing marks”, as did the local police, and believed them simply to be old “rabbit diggings” covered with pine needles. USAF photographs of the marks discovered by researcher Georgina Bruni were sent to the MoD by Lord Hill-Norton in 2001 and released under the Freedom of Information Act in 2007. Moreover, the supposed burn marks in the trees were actually axe cuts made by foresters that indicated the trees were ready to be felled. To give further pause to accepting the alleged UFO sighting, a meteor “almost as bright as the full Moon” was spotted over southern England at exactly the time of the initial reports of a bright object “landing” in the forest, according to Dr John Mason, who collects reports of meteor sightings for the British Astronomical Association.
Crucial amongst the evidence is the interpretation of the levels of radiation in the area (clearly heard on the “Halt tape”). Experts at the UK’s National Radiological Protection Board (NRPB) have pointed out that the equipment used for this measurement was not intended to measure background radiation and therefore the readings at the low end of the measurement scale are meaningless.
Steuart Campbell proposes an alternative explanation. He agrees with the standard explanation that the incident began with the sighting of a fireball (bolide) which was interpreted by guards at the base as an aircraft falling in flames in the nearby forest. In fact it would have been hundreds of miles away over the North Sea. Campbell argues that the object subsequently seen by Halt and his men on their nocturnal expedition was the lightvessel Shipwash and that the supposed “spacecraft” were actually bright planets, such as Venus. Campbell is critical of the USAF’s abilities with their equipment.
Another theory is that the incident was a hoax. The BBC reported that a former US security policeman, Kevin Conde, claimed responsibility for creating strange lights in the forest by driving around in a police vehicle whose lights he had modified. Conde has since withdrawn the claim that he was responsible for the incident. “It is my impression that I pulled my stunt during an exercise. We would not have had an exercise during the Christmas holiday [when the UFO sightings occurred]. That is a strong indication that my stunt is not the source of this specific incident”. However, it remains possible that the coloured lights seen in the forest on the first night of the incident were due to a hoax by a perpetrator who has never come forward.
Other explanations for the incident have included a downed Soviet spy satellite or a nuclear incident.
Researchers and commentators
Some of the first people to examine the event in detail were the British Ufologist Jenny Randles in her book “Sky Crash”, and Nick Redfern in his books “Cosmic Crashes” and “A Covert Agenda”.
Georgina Bruni has researched the subject and in her book You Can’t Tell the People publishes a photograph of the supposed landing site taken on the morning after the first sighting. The late Lord Hill-Norton, (Admiral of the Fleet and former Chief of the Defence Staff of the UK) also believed that a UFO landed at Rendlesham and repeatedly questioned the UK Government on the issue.
Larry Warren who was the source of the original News of the World article has written extensively on the subject and is a firm believer in an extraterrestrial explanation. Warren was certainly a USAF airman at the Woodbridge base, but his own claims that he was a witness to the incident are disputed by others, notably by Col. Halt.
Bruni and Warren do not, however, agree on the details and have clashed publicly over the supposed inaccuracies of their respective accounts.
Prominent amongst the sceptics is Ian Ridpath (mentioned above). Much of his research is available on his website, which also includes much of the raw evidence, including the original eyewitness statements.
Jenny Randles, who originally brought the case to prominence, wrote an extensive article in her book with David Clarke and Andy Roberts, (The UFOs That Never Were) entitled “Rendle Shame Forest” where she came to the conclusion that “While some puzzles remain, we can probably say that no unearthly craft were seen in Rendlesham Forest. We can also argue with confidence that the main focus of the events was a series of misperceptions of everyday things encountered in less than everyday circumstances.”
One of the most prominent believers in the extraterrestrial origin of the Rendlesham UFOs is Nick Pope who worked for the MoD, researching and investigating UFO phenomena between 1991 and 1994. He discussed the Rendlesham Forest Incident in his various books and in his articles: “Selected Documents”, which relates to the MOD documents on the Rendlesham Forest incident, “Rendlesham – The Unresolved Mystery”, “The Rendlesham Files Reviewed” (a detailed commentary and analysis of the MOD documents) and “Rendlesham Forest UFO Incident”. He has gone on record as saying that “the Rendlesham Forest Incident is bigger than Roswell”.
Additionally, Lieutenant Colonel (later Colonel) Charles I Halt, the former Deputy Base Commander of USAF Bentwaters and Woodbridge, who was a major witness to these events, is also a firm believer and contributor to books and documentaries.

Today, the forest looks quite different: the Great Storm of 1987 (winds equivalent to a category 3 hurricane) caused extensive destruction of trees, and the Forestry Commission undertook a massive replanting programme in its aftermath. However, some of the locations associated with the supposed incident are still identifiable and the Forestry Commission have marked a trail (the UFO Trail) for walkers, which includes the principal locations such as the small clearing where the object allegedly landed.
At the start of the UFO trail, there is a large triangular shaped metal information board. It features a map of the forest, clearly marking the UFO trail and gives a basic account of what happened in 1980, although with an erroneous date for the initial sighting:
“In December 1980 several sightings of UFOs were reported in Rendlesham Forest. Many think these mysterious events are the most significant UFO incident to have occurred in the UK.
“During the evening of 26 December a resident of Sudbourne, a village approximately 6 miles (10 km) to the North East of Rendlesham Forest, reported a mysterious shape (like an upturned mushroom) in the sky above his garden. Later that night two USAF patrolmen at the East Gate of RAF Woodbridge spotted unusual lights in the forest, and were given permission to investigate. What they reported was very strange.
“This was the time of the ‘Cold War’ and because of the sensitive military situation at the time, the incident was officially reported to the Military Authorities by the Deputy Base Commander Lt. Colonel Charles Halt, USAF.
“There is, of course, no tangible evidence of a UFO on the ground – no debris was found apart from some broken tree top branches. We can, however, piece together, from transcripts and recordings which were taken at the time, an intriguing picture.”

* MOD Documents covering the UFO incident at Rendlesham Forest in 1980 were first released in May 2001 to Dr. David Clarke of Sheffield University who had requested them under the Code of Practice for Access to Government Information (which preceded the UK’s Freedom of Information Act). Dr Clarke discusses them on his website In 2008 the files were transferred from MoD to The National Archives (TNA) and removed from the MoD website.
* As of August 2009, all documents relating to the incident are available on the National Archives UFO section under reference DEFE 24/1948. These documents include the request above, along with details of the Ombudsman judgment which followed. For the next few months, access to this file, and other files released on the same date will be free to view and download.

The Rendlesham Forest Incident is the name given to a series of reported sightings of unexplained lights and the alleged landing of an extraterrestrial spacecraft in Rendlesham Forest, Suffolk, England in late December 1980. It is perhaps the most famous UFO event to have happened in Britain, ranking amongst the best-known UFO events worldwide. It has been compared to the Roswell UFO incident in the United States and is commonly referred to as “Britain’s Roswell” or the “English Roswell”.
Following the event, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) denied that it posed any threat to national security and stated that it was therefore never investigated as a security matter. Later evidence indicated that there was a substantial MoD file on the subject and this led to claims of a cover-up. Some interpreted this as part of a larger pattern of information suppression concerning the true nature of unidentified flying objects, by both the United States and British governments (see the UFO conspiracy theory). However, when the file was released in 2001 it turned out to consist mostly of internal correspondence and responses to inquiries from the public. The lack of any in-depth investigation confirmed that the case was never taken seriously by the MoD.
