Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.
This is our new dog Kira, a cross between a water dog and a Podenko. She has been with us since February 7, 2024 and is busy winning our hearts. She is a sweet, affectionate dog who quickly adapted to us within a week. She is very quick and curious, a very different dog than Noleke.

Forget little green men – aliens will look like humans, says Cambridge University evolution expert
The author said extra-terrestrials that resemble human beings should have evolved on some of the many Earth-like planets that have been discovered
They are often portrayed on screen as little green men with elongated limbs and saucer-like eyes.
From E.T to the X-Files, aliens from outer space have captured our imagination for decades.
Yet a new book from a leading evolutionary biologist argues that if they exist and we ever encountered them, they would look very similar to us.
Professor Simon Conway Morris said extra-terrestrials that resemble human beings should have evolved on at least some of the many Earth-like planets that have been discovered by astronomers.
In his new book published on 2 July, The Runes of Evolution, the University of Cambridge academic builds on the principle of convergent evolution – that different species will independently evolve similar features, with the comparison of the camera eye of an octopus and a human eye a favourite example – and argues it will not just took place on Earth.

“An area of biology which is becoming popular, perhaps too popular, that the possibility evolution is becoming much more predictable than people thought,” he told TheIndependent. “The book is really trying to persuade the world that evolutionary convergence is completely ubiquitous. Wherever you look you see it.
“The theme is to try and drive the reader, gently of course, into the possibility that the things which we regard as most important, ie cognitive sophistication, large brains, intelligence, tool making, are also convergent. Therefore, in principle, other Earth-like planets should very much end up with the same sort of arrangement.”
Professor Conway Morris, a Fellow at St John’s College, said it follows that plant and animal life on other planets able to support life would also look similar to Earth’s.
He said: “Certainly it’s not the case that every Earth-like planet will have life let alone humanoids. But if you want a sophisticated plant it will look awfully like a flower. If you want a fly there’s only a few ways you can do that. If you want to swim, like a shark, there’s only a few ways you can do that. If you want to invent warm-bloodedness, like birds and mammals, there’s only a few ways to do that.
“The whole business of extra-terrestrial life, Kepler [the most Earth-like planet ever discovered], the search for extra solar planets, and of course the various missions to Mars. This is all going along at such a pace at the moment we can be reasonably sure [any current ideas] might be open to revision in a few years.”
His theory leads on to Enrico Fermi’s famous paradox – why, if aliens do exist, have they not made contact. He admits his book goes “off-piste for a bit of fun” in the last chapter when dealing with this problem.

Professor Conway Morris said: “Fermi’s paradox seems to be coming rather sharply into focus. If I’m on the right track then the likelihood of intelligence is evolving and actively engaging in some sort of transgalatic expeditions doesn’t seem to be completely beyond the realm of possibility.
“What Fermi didn’t know when he asked that famous question was that the number of Earth-like planets is absolutely gigantic now. More problematic is that many of these solar systems far, far pre-date our solar system. They would have, in principle, a major head start of hundreds of millions, if not billions, of years.
“The problem is exceedingly acute: we shouldn’t be alone but, famous last words, all the evidence suggests we are. Maybe [aliens] are hiding, the Arthur C Clarke idea, or as Stephen Baxter mischievously suggested we live in a virtual world. I don’t honestly know. My suspicion is we have only begun to scratch at the surface of reality, for want of a better word.”
Professor Conway Morris said one of the main themes of his new book was his desire to “re-energise people and get their sense of curiosity running again”. Convergence is demonstrable at every point of evolutionary history, he argues, from early cells, through to the emergence of tissues, nervous systems, limbs and the ability to make tools.
He said: “There is a growing interest in convergent evolution but I’m always willing to push it as far as I can. I’ll always say ‘show me anything which has only evolved once’ and I’ll try and jump up and say ‘no I can give you another example’.
“Convergence is ubiquitous and if you think complex things are difficult to make, well, with great respect, think again.”

A scientist flicks on a switch. Like magic, a small, delicate image of a fairy appears, suspended in the air. The scientist then reaches out to touch the floating figure: it feels rough, like sandpaper. This might sound like it's been taken straight out of science fiction, but think again, because this is the reality for Yoichi Ochiai and his fellow researchers at Digital Nature Group.
The team has been using a host of lasers, lenses and mirrors to create holograms suspended in the air that humans can touch. This technology means that holograms can now move away from two-dimensional surfaces and enter the limitless three-dimensional world. And since the holograms are touchable, they become interactive: when you touch a holo-heart it breaks in two, or when you touch a checkbox a tick appears in it.
These holograms are created using a laser that fires ultra-short bursts of light, the length of femtoseconds, or a quadrillionth of a second (it's very short). The laser is concentrated on a region of air molecules and gives them enough energy that they ionize (release an electron) and emit light. This concentrated mixture of positive and negative particles is called plasma. When human skin comes into contact with the plasma, it senses the hologram from the vibrations of the energetic air molecules. Ochiai, the principal investigator, says that the hologram feels a bit like sandpaper, but the other participants likened it more to a static shock.
The hologram can be programed to change when you touch it. Touches are registered using a camera positioned underneath the hologram, and the information is subsequently relayed back to a computer which changes the holographic image.
If you're wondering why the researchers used such unfathomably short pulses of light, this was necessary as a safety precaution. Holograms of this nature have been made in the past, but by using longer-length pulses on the scale of nanoseconds. The trouble with these pulses is that the resolution isn't as high, and these lasers burn human skin.
Because the speed of the laser pulses has to be so fast, the images created by these ingenious lasers are currently only around 1 cm3 in size. However, because they are created with the help of reflections, the team thinks that there is potential for scalability in the future.

The team is calling the displays that these lasers create "fairy lights," and it's easy to see why. Not only are the lights so small that they look like they were made by pixies, they are also harmless to humans.
And, more importantly, it means that we're one step closer to lightsabers.

On January 2nd, 2015 the editor of website earthfiles.com received a very unexpected letter from an alleged retired U.S. Navy Petty Officer First Class Flight Engineer.
The letter received recounts experiences where the anonymous Navy officer (refers to himself as “Brian”) recounts his bizarre and extraordinary experiences flying cargo and rescue in Antarctica between the years 1983 to 1997. He claims that a collaboration between humans and aliens exist, and that the Antarctica is a major research ground for these incredible collaborations.
Brian’s high strangeness experiences flying cargo and rescue in Antarctica were in the 1983 to 1997 time period and included several observations of aerial silver discs darting around over the Transantarctic Mountains. He and his crew also saw a big hole in the ice only about five to ten miles from the geographic South Pole (pink circle on map) that was supposed to be a No Fly Zone. But during an emergency medevac situation, they entered the No Fly Zone and saw what they were not supposed to see: an alleged entrance to a human and E. T. science research base created under the ice. Then at a camp near Marie Byrd Land, some dozen scientists disappeared for two weeks and when they re-appeared, Brian’s flight crew got the assignment to pick them up. Brian says they would not talk and “their faces looked scared.”
In the strange letter sent to Earth Files the officer states that he experienced things such as:

Hi Linda
I am a retired United States Navy LC130 Flight Engineer that retired after 20 years of service in 1997. I have been wanting to write you for a long time about my experience on the Antarctic continent with flying vehicles that I was told not to talk about. I served part of my 20 years in the Navy with a Squadron called Antarctic Development Squadron Six or VXE-6 as it was also known. I served with this squadron from around 1983 till I retired March of 1997. Being a flight engineer and flying more then 4000 hours in that capacity I have seen things that most people have not even imagined on the Continent of Antarctica. The land there seems more alien then earthly. Our deployments to this land started in late September and ended the end of February every year until the Squadron was decommissioned in 1999. This time of year was the summer season when most of the science was done do to warmer temps and 24 hours of daylight.
During my time in the squadron I flew to almost every part of the Antarctic Continent including the South Pole more the 300 times. McMurdo Station which is 3.5 hours of flying time from the South Pole station was the point of squadron operation during our yearly deployments. Between these two stations is a mountain range called the Trans Antarctic’s. With what we called Severe Clear weather from McMurdo to South Pole the Trans Antarctic’s are visible from the altitudes which the aircraft flew approximately 25,000 to 35,000 feet. On several flights to and from South Pole our crew viewed air vehicles darting around the tops of Trans Antarctic’s almost exactly in the same spot every time we would fly by and view them. This is very unusual for air traffic down there due to the fact that the only aircraft flying on the continent were our squadron aircraft. Every aircraft knew where the other aircraft were do to flight schedules being followed.
Another unique issue with South Pole station is that our aircraft was not allowed to fly over a certain area designated 5 miles from the station. The reason stated because of a air sampling camp in that area. This did not make any sense to any of us on the crew because on 2 different occasions we had to fly over this area. One time due to a medical evacuation of the Australian camp called Davis Camp. It was on the opposite side of the continent and we had to refuel at South Pole and a direct course to this Davis Camp was right over the air sampling station. The only thing we saw going over this camp was a very large hole going into the ice. You could fly one of our LC130 into this thing.
It was after this medevac mission we where briefed by some spooks (Intelligence Agents I presumed) from Washington DC and told not to speak of the area we overflew. The other time we got close to “The air sampling Camp” we had navigation and electrical failures on the aircraft and was told to immediately depart the area and report to our squadron commanding officer when we returned to McMurdo. Needless to say our pilot (Aircraft Commander) got his butt chewed and our crew was not on the South Pole supply run for over a month. There were many other times we saw things that was out of the ordinary.
One outlying camp (near Marie Byrd Land) we dropped scientists and their equipment at was out of communication with McMurdo for 2 weeks. Our crew flew back to the camp to find out if the scientists were ok. We found no one there and no sign of any fowl play. The Radio was working fine as we called McMurdo to verify it working properly. We left the camp and flew back to McMurdo as ordered by our CO. A week later the Scientist showed back up to there camp and called McMurdo for someone to come pick them up. Our crew got the flight back there to pick them since we put them into that camp and we knew the terrain and location. None of the scientists would talk to any of the crew on the plane and to me they looked scared.
As soon as we landed back at McMurdo they (Scientists) where put on another of our squadron aircraft and flown to Christchurch New Zealand. We never heard about them again. Their equipment that we brought back from the camp was put in quarantine and shipped back to the United States escorted by the same spooks that debriefed us about our fly over of the air sample camp/ large hole in the ice. I could go on and on about things and situations that I observed during my tour with VXE-6. Talk among the flight crews was that there is a UFO base at South Pole and some of the crew heard talk from some of the scientist working at the Pole of EBEs working with and interacting with the scientists at that air sampling camp/large ice hole.

Brian, now 59 years old, graduated from an Iowa college with an associate’s degree in aviation maintenance technology and an aviation certificate. In 1977, he then enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served for twenty years until his retirement in 1997. He provided Earthfiles his DD-214 documents and other certificates of service including this Antarctic Service Medal given to him on November 20, 1984 as proof of his time in service.

There appears to be many secrets hidden in the Antarctica and we are pretty much hearing different stories every month about military personnel disclosing information about Aliens in that part of the world!
But what a great secluded part of the world for the Aliens to keep out of sight from prying eyes….or so they thought!

Hollywood's depictions of aliens may not be far from the truth, according to a leading evolutionary biologist.

Aliens resembling humans must have evolved on other planets, a leading biologist has claimed.
Evolutionary biologist Simon Conway Morris says it is surprising we have not already discovered extra-terrestrials that look like us - given the growing number of Earth-like planets now discovered by astronomers.
He based his claim on evidence that different species will independently develop similar features which means that life similar to that on Earth would also develop on equivalent planets.
The theory, known as convergence, says evolution is a predictable process which follows a rigid set of rules.
"I would argue that in any habitable zone that doesn't boil or freeze, intelligent life is going to emerge, because intelligence is convergent," he said.
"One can say with reasonable confidence that the likelihood of something analogous to a human evolving is really pretty high.
"And given the number of potential planets that we now have good reason to think exist, even if the dice only come up the right way every one in 100 throws, that still leads to a very large number of intelligences scattered around, that are likely to be similar to us."
The argument is put forward in his new book The Runes Of Evolution.
He has previously claimed that aliens would resemble earthlings with limbs, heads, and bodies.
And he goes further in the new book, claiming any Earth-like planet should also evolve predators like sharks as well as mangroves, and mushrooms, among many other things.

Ufology: A Dying Subject?
Ufology: A Dying Subject?
In a new article titled “Ufology entering its Dark Ages?” Rich Reynolds makes interesting observations on the current condition of Ufology and what the future may bring for the subject. As Rich notes, at his UFO Conjectures blog: “Several UFO enthusiasts (besides me) are speculating that ufology is kaput, down and out. That isn’t exactly the case but the impression that ufology is dead or dying is palpable. The ‘Roswell slides’ debacle has created a nadir in UFO interest, for UFO aficionados.”
Is Rich correct? Are we seeing the final years of Ufology? Or, perhaps, not extinction but a decline into ever-deepening obscurity? Well, let’s see. There’s no doubt that things have changed – and changed substantially – in Ufology (and related topics) in the past few years. Some of those changes have been good for the subject. Others have been far less so.
It’s important to note that when it comes to the world of the paranormal in general, trends and topics come and go. As does interest, and attendant research, into those same trends and topics. That has always been the case and probably always will be. Seances, table-rapping and ectoplasm were all the rage a century ago. The Bermuda Triangle was a big subject in the 1970s. Crop Circles, by the early 1990s, were major news. Today, none of those controversies attract the huge attention they once did.
Yes, the media still covers such mysteries, as does the field of paranormal research. But, things are definitely not what they were. Take the aforementioned Crop Circles as one example. I well remember the absolute hysteria (and that’s not an exaggeration) for Crop Circles that kicked off in the early 1990s in the UK and which continued throughout that decade.
The media (even the prime-time BBC News and the daily, nationwide newspapers) covered the subject to a large degree. People excitedly traveled to the hot-spots (primarily the English county of Wiltshire) in absolute droves. It was an amazing, fun, crazy time. But, like anything, the Crop Circle phenomenon began, peaked, and is now in decline. Soon, no doubt, it will be curled up in a rocking-chair in a nursing-home and drinking (and dribbling) warm milk.
Alien abduction is no longer the crowd-puller that it was in the 1980s and 1990s. The 2012 phenomenon: whatever happened to that? Same with the Contactee movement of the 1950s: it had its time and now it’s gone – at least, to a significant degree. So, where are we today? Let’s see.
There’s no doubt that “good” UFO sightings still occur; however, there’s also no doubt that things aren’t on the sheer scale they were decades ago. The Washington, D.C. overflights of 1952, the humanoid/”entity” wave of 1954, Betty and Barney Hill, Pascagoula 1973, the Belgian “Flying Triangle” wave, Rendlesham Forest, and the Cash-Landrum case are perfect examples of the huge diversity and frequency of fascinating cases from years long gone.
Yes, as I said, we still get very good cases today. The big difference, however, is that those days of ufological “waves” and “flaps” are nowhere near what they once were. And, as a result, I see something interesting happening: a shift in approach, to the point where many researchers no longer focus on the present and/or have hopes for the future, but obsess on the past.
As an example, over at my World of Whatever blog, the ten most popular of the currently 1004 posts include (a) one on the MJ12 documents (controversial papers on the events at Roswell, New Mexico in 1947); (b) one on the alleged UFO crash at Aztec, New Mexico in March 1948; (c) one on the Lonnie Zamora/Socorro UFO landing of 1964; and (d) no less than three articles on the fiasco known as “the Roswell Slides.” In other words, in terms of popularity at least, it’s all about the past. Okay, maybe that’s slightly generalizing, but you get the point.
So, to get back to Rich Reynolds’ article, I don’t personally think extinction is on the cards for Ufology. I do, however, think that the days of (a) roaming around a muddy field, photographing UFO “tripod landing marks,” of (b) sitting on a couch in someone’s home and interviewing them about the recent “Vehicle Interference” case they had; or of (c) crawling around on hands and knees in a Crop Circle for hours, may very well rapidly diminish.
I suspect we will see a decline in the presence of the active UFO researcher and a rise in the presence of the UFO historian – studying old files, dusty papers, the archives of long-dead researchers, and faded photos from the 1950s, and chiefly because they aren’t impressed by what they see today.
People change, situations change, lives change, and Ufology will change. I think there is definitely room for a ufological future. But, whether Ufology remains as a community, and as a “scene,” or if it becomes the domain of a few dozen people overflowing with nothing but tedious nostalgia and a yearning for the past, very much remains to be seen.
Ufology may well be entering its adult-diaper, slippers, and colostomy-bag stage, but there’s still some life left in the old geezer. For now…

Paul Douglas was driving along Upper Parliament Street heading toward the waterfront when he first noticed the unusual object.
“It was over the marina and it was just a mad object in the sky,” Douglas told the Echo. “It sort of looked like a drone, but it also had three green lights on it.”
The taxi driver pulled his vehicle to the side of the road and began taking video of the object.

“As it was hovering, the birds were making a funny noise and going a bit mad,” Douglas said. “Then after a couple of minutes it started going out towards the water again. It was pretty high in the sky as it was floating over the water. I went to the waterfront to ask two fishermen if they saw it as it moved on, but they didn’t.”
The witness said he saw three green lights positioned horizontally on the object.
sterrenkundeEnorme gaten waar de grond ineens is verdwenen. Zulke zinkgaten (sinkholes) blijken niet alleen voor te komen op Aarde, maar ook elders in de ruimte. Op komeet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko bijvoorbeeld. Dat heeft de Nederlandse sterrenkundige Dennis Bodewits ontdekt, zo staat in de nieuwste editie van wetenschappelijke vakblad Nature.
67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko is een rotsblok dat al miljarden jaren rond de Zon draait. Het kreeg vorig jaar bezoek van de Europese sonde Rosetta en de onbemande verkenner Philae landde op het oppervlak, een historische prestatie. Met de Rosetta keek Bodewits, die werkt voor de University of Maryland, naar de komeet.
"De camera heeft vreemde ronde gaten gevonden op het oppervlak van komeet 67P. Sommige van deze gaten zijn net zo diep als breed: zo diep als de Domtoren (in Utrecht - Belga) en groter dan een voetbalveld", aldus Bodewits. Hoe dieper de gaten zijn, hoe jonger ze zijn.
Onder het oppervlak van de komeet zit ijs. Als dit verdwijnt, ontstaat er een holte en is er niets om het 'dak', het oppervlak van de komeet, overeind te houden. Dat zakt in en er blijft een groot gat achter. Het resterende ijs in het gat komt voor het eerst in het zonlicht te staan en verdwijnt ook. Na verloop van tijd slijten de randen van de gaten en valt er stof in.

videoDe Amerikaanse ruimtevaartorganisatie NASA geeft een prachtige video vrij van een enorme uitbarsting op de zon. Daarop is te zien hoe een enorme wolk zonnemateriaal de ruimte in wordt gestuwd.
Het gaat om een time-lapsefilmpje dat vier uur samenvat in een dikke minuut. De uitbarsting, die dateert van 18 juni, werd gefilmd door het Solar Dynamics Observatory van de NASA.
De beelden worden getoond in een bepaalde golflengte van extreem uv-licht dat materiaal in de lage delen van de atmosfeer van de zon extra zichtbaar maakt. In de video is dat materiaal rood.

Walter C. Lance of El Paso, Texas was the first person to submit the photographs to secureteam10. Lance stated he took the photographs on June 29th, 2015 around 1PM central time during his lunch break.
According to secureteam10, Lance stated that it began to get very windy outside when a portion of the clouds began to “swirl and circle in on one another forming this portal shape”. The area within this circular vortex turned “jet black” which is when Lance took out his cellphone to take the following pictures:

That’s right. Human footprints in the fossil record. This video and website explore the phenomena of human footprints in the fossil record. Many and in fact most of these footprints are out of place. This means that the human footprints are in rock layers that are supposedly too old for modern human footprints to exist.
The existence of these prints is another example of evidence that brings into question the commonly held view that the earth is 4.6 billion years old and modern man has only been on the scene for the last 200,000 years.

Space Debris, Spent Rocket, Natural Event, Missile — What happened in the sky over Southeastern United States on June 29, 2015?
According to NASA: There was a bright event seen across several Southeast states (Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Alabama) last night at 12:29:30 AM CDT (1:29:30 EDT). Based on the data we currently have, this object was not a meteor or fireball.
Tracked by 5 NASA cameras in the SE, it is moving at roughly 14,500 miles per hour, which is too slow to be a meteor.
As you can see in the first video, it has also broken into multiple pieces, which, combined with the slow speed, indicates a possible reentry of space debris.
There are over 120 eyewitness accounts on the American Meteor Society website .
According to Spaceflight101, USSTRATCOM predicted the re-entry of a spent Block-2BL upper stage of a Molniya rocket that had been in orbit since 1973 for June 29, 2015.
However, data from USSTRATCOM show that the re-entry to have taken place at 4:12 UTC +/1 minute over the Atlantic Ocean. This data would mean that the object re-entered well before the bright event over the Southeast United States observed at 5:30 UTC.
This suggests that USSTRATCOM either caught a different re-entry over the Atlantic, possibly a natural event, or the rocket stage broke apart at some point in its final orbits with one object surviving until 5:30 UTC. Read more atSpaceflight101.
Despite NASA’s statement that they have no idea what exploded in the sky over Southeastern United States, I think they actually know what has been the cause of the phenomenon and with all the strange and unknown objects falling from the sky this year we may wonder whether the object was a missile or a UFO (man-made or extraterrestrial) that exploded over Southeastern United States.

Filiberto Cardenas says being abducted by a UFO made him a better man. Yes, following yesterdays UFO story, today’s post is about a claimed abduction. Cardenas said, “I think my conscious has been heightened. I am more conscious of the people around me, more affectionate and more understanding.”
He claims that he was snatched by a dazzling, buzzing strange force. This happened at Okeechobee Road, near Florida’s Turnpike Extension. He was dropped off by the UFO 12 miles away on the Tamiami Trail, near 137th Avenue. Three friends witnessed the abduction. Cardenas then had a second encounter with a flying saucer and this time the aliens revealed several secrets about the future, including a message that asked mankind to love each other. Not sure why they would have revealed this to Filiberto but he continued by saying: “They spoke to me of a universal love and I have learned from them that this is what I must do – love and help my fellow man. I know that I have obligations, bigger ones.” The encounter has intensified his belief in an omnipotent God. “Since the abduction happened I see God as even bigger than I imagined because I now know that there is a God for other beings on other planets. When you think about it, I find God to be immense.” Looking on Cardenas’ wife, Iris, said that his physical and mental energy has increased. She also tells of how he now finds it easier to communicate with others telepathically – an example of this was given. It seems that on a certain day he noticed he was constantly thinking of his father-in-law. Worried that something could be wrong he left work and began looking for the old man. Driving the car along a side street he found his father-in-law in the middle of the road. His car had broken down. Of his experiences Cardenas is quoted as saying, “I don’t try to convince anybody of this but I think there are a few people who, after meeting me and talking to me, believe what I am saying. Before this happened I had no knowledge of UFOs. I wasn’t interested in them. Now I try to read and inform myself as much as I can. Out of all of the abduction stories floating about the Internet I chose to write about this one because it was reported that on the same day eight animals were found found slaughtered at Newquay Zoo, Cornwall. All had been drained of blood and the corpses were said to have been radio active. I live in Cornwall! There is, otherwise, absolutely no connection between the two stories!
MUFON’S ” HANGER 1 ” SHOW IS A HIT ON THE HISTORY CHANNEL
Reports of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) are a common occurrence these days, but rarely are reports of military personnel having encounters reported. Now, a lot of these “lost” stories are beginning to find their way outside of their bureaucratic confinements. The Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) is the world’s largest UFO investigation group, and one of their goals involve shining some light on these stories. In doing so, they partnered with the History Channel to recreate various wartime stories in the series Hangar 1: The UFO Files. In 1968 Vietnam, an American patrol boat allegedly reported that two circular, glowing aircraft were following them.
Their reports were corroborated by a second patrol boat that said it did indeed witness the UFOs over the first boat along with a flash of light that was followed by an explosion, which completely destroyed the boat. Capt. George Filer, a former Air Force intelligence officer who had top clearance during his time in Vietnam, stated that the U.S. were interested in the UFOs due to their more advanced technology. Reports indicated that these aircraft would fly alongside U.S. planes, do barrel rolls, then take off at speeds of up to three times that of the Air Force. Filer also mentioned that many stories that he heard came to him “unofficially.”
“People tell you a lot of things that they don’t put in writing or sign their name to,” he said. “There was always this part of UFOs that, if you got too interested, it could mess up your career.” Stories of UFOs holding battles in the skies have been heard throughout history — and one artist, Hans Glaser, created a woodcut of a battle reported by Nuremberg, Germany citizens in 1561. The Nuremberg Gazette printed an April issue describing the aerial battle between large “cylindrical shapes from which emerged black, red, orange and blue-white spheres that darted about… All these elements started to fight one against the other.”
The name of the History Channel series comes from an actual hangar that MUFON used to use to store its archives. The images of the hangar in the series are of the real housing area where, at one point, all the organization’s files were kept. Episodes of Hangar 1 will air over a 12-week period, and highlights military personnel who are willing to share their stories.
Among these stories is a retired Army sergeant who claims to have been assigned to UFO crash and retrieval cases, whereby his job entailed recovering alien ships and the bodies of extra-terrestrials that were either dead or alive. Another story in the series is about an ex-marine who claims to have been stationed on Mars in an off-world mission that was kept secret, until now.
KEN’S NOTE: I have been a big critic of the past and present UFO shows. I feel the main purpose is to present the facts of the case and not try to debunk a case by trying to duplicate it. Lets face it, with todays technology anything can be duplicated. It’s the older cases that reflect the real encounters , with photos. Incredible claims have been made for years about Bob Lazar. He allegedly is a physicist with an MS in Electronics from the California Institute of Technology and MS in Physics from MIT. Most of all, he was a “Scientist” for Los Alamos National Laboratory obtaining a job back-engineering at S-4 near Area 51 in Nevada. Supposedly he determined how saucers work through Element 115. From the 500 pounds available, he was able to steal a small quantity of 115. Unfortunately, it was taken back. In early 2004, there was an announcement about the production of four atoms of element 115 through a massive European accelerator for weeks. Videotapes are available for his claims.
In a recent interview made by a documentary filmmaker, shocking revelations were shared. Despite the denials made by several professionals working in the company claimed by Lazar, one physicist confirmed that he worked at Los Alamos National Laboratories and met Lazar there. He claimed that Lazar was a physicist at that time. According to the physicist, they both recognized each other. It started on the different colored pens, in which Lazar fitted that molds. No one said that Lazar is a physicist, but he immediately recognised him as one by looking at his get up.
He did not only look the part, but also says he attended several security meetings with Lazar. He further explained that security meetings will give you briefing asking you not to talk about what you do or see. He is also requested to answer some details about the particular works of Lazar, he responds with negation. When asked why he shared this information even if he knew he could get in trouble. Later on, it confirmed that Krangle was one of those renegades that no longer makes a living out of his Los Alamos contracts. Therefore, he isn’t worried about it.

The year is 1908, June 30th and it’s just after seven in the morning. A man is sitting on the front porch of a trading post at Vanavara in Siberia. Little does he know, in a few moments, he will be hurled from his chair and the heat will be so intense he will feel as though his shirt is on fire.
That’s how the Tunguska event felt 40 miles from ground zero.
Over 107 years later the ferocious impact near the Podkamennaya Tunguska River in remote Siberia, scientists are still talking about it.
While the impact occurred in 1908, the first scientific expedition to the area would have to wait for 19 years. In 1921, Leonid Kulik, the chief curator for the meteorite collection of the St. Petersburg museum led an expedition to Tunguska. But the harsh conditions of the Siberian outback thwarted his team’s attempt to reach the area of the blast. In 1927, a new expedition, again lead by Kulik, reached its goal.
Below is rare, raw footage from the 1921 Tunguska expedition as well as modern day footage showing the aftermath of the Tunguska explosion in 1908.
While testimonials may have at first been difficult to obtain, there was plenty of evidence lying around. Eight hundred square miles of remote forest had been ripped asunder. Eighty million trees were on their sides, lying in a radial pattern.
“Those trees acted as markers, pointing directly away from the blast’s epicenter,” said Yeomans. “Later, when the team arrived at ground zero, they found the trees there standing upright – but their limbs and bark had been stripped away. They looked like a forest of telephone poles.”
Such debranching requires fast moving shock waves that break off a tree’s branches before the branches can transfer the impact momentum to the tree’s stem. Thirty seven years after the Tunguska blast, branchless trees would be found at the site of another massive explosion – Hiroshima, Japan.
Kulik’s expeditions (he traveled to Tunguska on three separate occasions) did finally get some of the locals to talk. One was the man based at the Vanara trading post who witnessed the heat blast as he was launched from his chair. His account:
Suddenly in the north sky… the sky was split in two, and high above the forest the whole northern part of the sky appeared covered with fire… At that moment there was a bang in the sky and a mighty crash… The crash was followed by a noise like stones falling from the sky, or of guns firing. The earth trembled.
The massive explosion packed a wallop. The resulting seismic shockwave registered with sensitive barometers as far away as England. Dense clouds formed over the region at high altitudes which reflected sunlight from beyond the horizon. Night skies glowed, and reports came in that people who lived as far away as Asia could read newspapers outdoors as late as midnight. Locally, hundreds of reindeer, the livelihood of local herders, were killed, but there was no direct evidence that any person perished in the blast.

More than a century later some still debate the cause and come up with different scenarios that could have caused the explosion,” said Yeomans. “But the generally agreed upon theory is that on the morning of June 30, 1908, a large space rock, about 120 feet across, entered the atmosphere of Siberia and then detonated in the sky.”
It is estimated the asteroid entered Earth’s atmosphere traveling at a speed of about 33,500 miles per hour. During its quick plunge, the 220-million-pound space rock heated the air surrounding it to 44,500 degrees Fahrenheit. At 7:17 a.m. (local Siberia time), at a height of about 28,000 feet, the combination of pressure and heat caused the asteroid to fragment and annihilate itself, producing a fireball and releasing energy equivalent to about 185 Hiroshima bombs.
“That is why there is no impact crater,” said Yeomans. “The great majority of the asteroid is consumed in the explosion.”
Extraterrestrial Craft?

In 2004 MosNews-Scientists from the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk claim that they have discovered several artifacts with extraterrestrial writings near the fall site of the Tunguska meteorite. From ufocasebook, the original source was at http://www.mosnews.com/news/2004/08/10/tunguska.shtml which is now a dead link. The mosnews link supposedly says:
The president of the Tunguska Space Phenomenon research foundation told reporters that several quartz boulders with mysterious writings on them were found in the Tunguska river basin in 2006. The boulders were tested in Krasnoyarsk and Moscow and test results speak for the fact that they are of extraterrestrial origin, he said.
The boulders were covered in strange signs of artificial origin, presumably made with plasma.
Russian researchers suggested a hypothesis that the quartz tablets were parts of an information container delivered to Earth by the extraterrestrial spaceship that crashed in Tunguska region in 1908.
Russian researcher also said that scientists from the United States, Britain, France and Germany have requested the newly-found artifacts for research, but Russians want to be the first people to decode the message from another civilization.
So is there any truth to this claim?
Digging into this more what caught my eye was a Stratfor email leaked by wikileaks that reports the same claim above.
On Monday February 27th, 2012, WikiLeaks began publishing The Global Intelligence Files, over five million e-mails from the Texas headquartered “global intelligence” company Stratfor. The e-mails date between July 2004 and late December 2011. They reveal the inner workings of a company that fronts as an intelligence publisher, but provides confidential intelligence services to large corporations, such as Bhopal’s Dow Chemical Co., Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon and government agencies, including the US Department of Homeland Security, the US Marines and the US Defence Intelligence Agency. The emails show Stratfor’s web of informers, pay-off structure, payment laundering techniques and psychological methods.
An advanced species which presumably have built a star-ship that has a power generator so powerful it would equal a thermonuclear bomb if it blew up, write text on quartz boulders?! Ok I admit this sounds far fetched,…but what about Quartz?
About 10 years back scientist ‘publicly’ announced working on a new type of storage that incorporated quartz.
The researchers claim that their memory crystals “[open] the era of unlimited lifetime data storage.” As well as providing unprecedented capacity and high-speed reading, fused quartz is exceptionally stable and can withstand temperatures up to 1000 °C. “We think it should potentially last a million years,” enthuses Zhang, meaning the stored data will likely outlast the human race.
The above story has never been confirmed and the so called “quartz boulder” has never surfaced. But then again in 2009 more stories of Quartz writing surface with a Photo! This story was picked up my major news outlets including Fox News, Universe Today and others.
Russian scientist Yuriy Lavbin, (the same man, who tried to sell the quartz story in 2004 ) is presenting 10 quartz crystals that he found at the place of the meteorite’s crash. Several of the crystals have holes in between, so they can be united in a chain.

What could this chain serve for? Besides, some crystals have strange drawings on them. We don’t have any technologies that can print such kind of drawings on crystals. We also found ferrum silicate that can not be produced anywhere, except in space”, – the scientist stated. How surprised they were to realize that the laser (that usually cuts metal objects into pieces) managed to put just some faint stripes, barely visible. The stones, have an entire system of different lines and circles on them. Scientists suppose that the stones used to be a part of the navigational system of a spaceship. All stones united form a map, which they could have used to cruise through the Universe.
In 1908, the UFO is thought to have hit the meteorite that weighed over 1 billion tones. If the meteorite fell down on Earth, all the people would have been dead, extinct. Scientists believe the aliens had interfered and put their lives on the line to make sure there isn’t a direct impact with Earth.
A strange portrait of an extraterrestrial person on one of the stones proves this hypothesis – concluded Mr Lavbin.
Wilder theories have been proposed over the years regarding what caused the Tunguska explosion besides the UFO theory which all started when a science fiction writer named Alexander Kazantsev wrote a story in which the Tunguska blast was the exploding nuclear power plant of a spaceship from Mars. A few Russian scientists took up the cause and claimed to find various bits of evidence which has never been substantiated.
The other Claims include:
The annihilation of a chunk of antimatter from space. This does not account for mineral debris the explosion left behind.
A black hole zipping through Earth. This also does not account for mineral debris the explosion left behind, and there was no subsequent explosion as such a black hole, having tunneled through the Earth, would have shot back out through the surface of the Atlantic.
A Nikola Tesla “death ray.” The man who pioneered radio and modern alternating current electric power (AC) systems was often seen as a mad scientist. One story alleges he test-fired a death ray on the evening of June 30, 1908, and once he found out about the Tunguska event, he dismantled the weapon, deeming it too dangerous to remain in existence.
Natural Gas Explosion. Caused by the release and subsequent explosion of 10 million tons of natural gas from within Earth’s crust. The basic idea is that natural gas leaked out of the crust and then rose to its equal-density height in the atmosphere; from there, it drifted downwind, in a sort of wick, which was eventually ignited by e.g. lightning. Once the gas was ignited, the fire streaked along the wick, and then down to the the source of the leak in the ground, whereupon there was the explosion.
Over a hundred years later, the Tunguska Event remains a mystery. However, if the blast was caused by a comet or meteor entering the Earth’s atmosphere, it poses the serious possibility that in the future a similar meteor could once again enter Earth’s atmosphere, but this time, land on a populated area. The result would be catastrophic.
