This is our new dog Kira, a cross between a water dog and a Podenko. She has been with us since February 7, 2024 and is busy winning our hearts. She is a sweet, affectionate dog who quickly adapted to us within a week. She is very quick and curious, a very different dog than Noleke.

MUFON's mission is the analytical and scientific investigation of the UFO- Phenomenon for the benefit of humanity... Je kan ook hun site bekijken onder www.mufon.com. Ze geven een maandelijks tijdschrift uit, namelijk The MUFON UFO-Journal. Since 02/01/2020 is Pieter ex-president (=voorzitter) of BUFON, but also ex-National Director MUFON / Flanders and the Netherlands. We work together with the French MUFON Reseau MUFON/EUROP.

Hawaiian witness describes silent bell-shaped UFO

    (Before It's News)

A Hawaiian witness at Keaau reported watching a silent, bell-shaped UFO with two rows of lights less than 75 yards away, according to August 6, 2014, testimony in Case 58688 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness was outside walking a dog about 4:30 a.m. on May 5, 2014, when he first saw two red lights side-by-side near the end of a dirt road and first assumed they were tail lights.

“They bounced in unison and then they bounced up and out of sight,” the witness stated. “While I thought it unusual, I wrote it off as a unique reflection.”

The witness points out that he has a background in sky watching.

“I’ve spent a lot of time on Mauna Kea by myself and volunteering to run the telescopes at the Visitor Center. I’ve counted a dozen satellites in one evening. I’ve seen illumination, signal and other types of flares from the military base. I’ve watched the ISS cruise over the mountain. I’ve seen teardrop meteors, moon bows and a sprite. I’ve seen just about everything that would make someone scream UFO. Only twice I’ve seen objects far up in the sky that I couldn’t explain due to its unique movements.”

Then 10 to 15 seconds after he saw the two red lights an object much closer got his attention.

“It was roughly 50 to 75 yards away. It was bell-shaped and lit up with the four aforementioned colors. I didn’t see it land or take off and it made no sound.”

The witnesses’ dog seemed to be unaware of the object.

“When I called my dog’s name it sounded as if I was in a vacuum – as if my voice was extremely loud and originated in front of me.”

    The witness described the object.

“It was roughly 15 feet tall and 10 feet across at the base. There were two strips of lights spinning in opposite directions. I could make out the shape but couldn’t make out any features because of the lights. The lights were very plasmatic in nature but the colors were very apparent and didn’t blend.”

Keaau is in Hawaii County, population 2,010. MUFON Hawaii is investigating. Hawaii has a current UFO Alert Rating of 5 with a low number of recent reports nationally. Hawaii had 3 UFO reports in June 2014 – the 36th highest reporting state – while California had 107 reports as the highest reporting state. The above quotes were edited for clarity. Please report UFO activity to MUFON.com.

The UFO Alert Rating System is based on five levels – 1 through 5 – where states with 150 or more reports for the month are rated an Alert 1; states with 100 or more reports are rated an Alert 2; 25 reports or more for the month are rated an Alert 3; 13 or more reports are rated an Alert 4; and those states with less than 13 reports for the month are an Alert 5.

VERY STRANGE ENCOUNTER IN OCEAN GROVE NEW JERSEY

    (Before It's News)

JULY 1964   …………..   OCEAN GROVE NEW JERSEY

I was with a friend as we were walking back to a rental cottage in Ocean Grove, NJ around midnight on a Saturday night. It was the Summer of 1964. On a perfectly clear cloudless night, we stopped to gaze at the millions of stars visible near the beach at night. Suddenly our attention went to a single “star” that was moving straight up. Then, it suddenly changed direction and moved straight down. It repeated this a few times. We knew it wasn’t a plane because panes don’t move like that, and as it was a small as a star, too far away to be a plane anyway. Suddenly a vapor trail began to come out of it- we stood as if glued in place. My friend thought it might be a skywriting plane, but I knew it wasn’t because it wasn’t writing anything, skywriters don’t write at night, and it was too far away to be a small plane.

Eventually the vapor trail began to descend. forming a large cloud-like shape. This “cloud” was easily as big as a house- oddly, although we could see the dark night sky through it, we could not see any stars- and we should have been able to see the stars. The rest of the night sky was filled with them. It was as if inside the cloud the stars became invisible. As it got larger, we realized it was getting CLOSER and at that point we heard a strange noise that I can only describe as sounding like hundreds of wheels and gears turning at the same time. The sound jolted us out of our lethargy and we began to run towards home. As we ran, we looked over our shoulders to see the “cloud” following us at about the level of the treetops.

There were NO cars on the street- at that time, Ocean Grove did not allow cars in or on its streets from midnight Saturday to midnight Sunday. They actually had village gates that were locked, and no cars were allowed to be parked on the streets either. No lights seemed to be on in any houses, and at that time Ocean Grove had no shops or stores that would be open at night. NO gas stations. No 7-11 or WaWa. There wasn’t a soul around. We heard the noise as the cloud followed us- we were laughing and crying at the same time. We were only about 2 blocks from the house we were staying at, so we reached the porch before the cloud reached us. We climbed up the stairs, bursting through the front door, waking my friend’s mother and grandmother. Of course, she was upset that we were crying- we told her we had gotten frightened walking home, We went to the room we shared, pulled open the shade and the cloud was right outside the window.

Hysterical by this time, we pulled the shade down and stayed up all night. We vowed never to tell anyone in authority (like police, etc) because no one would believe it wasn’t just two teenage girls who got scared walking home in the dark. To this day we remember it s clearly as the night it happened. We have lost touch over the years, but every once in a while we reconnect and remind each other about that night.

NOTE: The above image is a rendering.

This case is under investigation by Robert Spearing of MUFON New Jersey.

Westall UFO Revealed As Errant Secret Balloon…Roswell, Anyone?

    (Before It's News)

    B4INREMOTE-aHR0cDovLzIuYnAuYmxvZ3Nwb3QuY29tLy0zNkRiQ3V2cDB1Zy9VLUo5UHhIckVSSS9BQUFBQUFBQkJIZy9LaUYyU01fMEs0SS9zMTYwMC93ZXN0YWxsNi5qcGc=

When I posted an article on the Westall UFO incident, I named it ‘Australia’s Roswell.’ Now, almost one year later, a ‘Roswellesque’ report has surfaced in order to explain the event. I first present the most recent article in the Herald Sun…then my post from last year:

Westall ‘UFO’ incident was actually government radiation testing, reports reveal

An almost 50-year-old mystery when more than 200 people believed they had a close encounter with a UFO landing in Clayton may have finally been solved after newly-unearthed government documents revealed a secret radiation-testing program.

Although federal and state government agencies refused to comment about the 1966 ‘Westall’ incident at the time, it is now believed that, rather than a UFO, what landed was an errant high altitude balloon used to monitor radiation levels after the controversial Maralinga nuclear tests.

The HIBAL program was a joint US-Australian initiative to monitor atmospheric radiation levels using large silver balloons equipped with sensors between 1960 and 1969.

Documents held by the National Archives and former Department of Supply indicate one test balloon launched from Mildura may have been blown off course and came down in Clayton South in a paddock near Westall High School, alarming and baffling hundreds of eyewitnesses, including teachers and students.

After hovering over the area, it landed at an area known as The Grange, behind a grove of pine trees, before taking off again and being pursued by several light aircraft in a sighting which lasted 20 minutes from 11am on April 6, 1966.

The event has ever since been shrouded in mystery.

But researcher Keith Basterfield, who has spent years investigating unexplained phenomenon in Australia, said a “runaway” balloon from the HIBAL (high altitude balloon) project was the likely answer.

Each test balloon lifted a 180kg payload consisting of an air sampling and telemetry unit in a gondola and was followed by a light aircraft tasked with tracking it and triggering its 12mtr parachute via radio signal.

Immediately after the Westall “UFO” sighting, reports emerged of Government men in suits converging on the area and asking school officials and other witnesses to not talk about the event.

A contemporary witness reported these “suits” stated what the students saw was part of a secret government exercise and that for national security reasons they were forbidden from discussing it.

“My hypothesis is that the incident involved not a UFO, but a high altitude balloon, it’s parachute and large payload,” Mr Basterfield said.

In a research paper completed this year, Mr Basterfield said a close review of all available documentation, including that searched through Freedom of Information laws, pointed to HIBAL flight number 292 as the real culprit.

“The Westall object was described as being a white/silver colour which could describe the colour of an HIBAL balloon or parachute.”

A witness account prior to the Westall sighting stated a flying object — trailing what appeared to be a long vacuum-like hose — was seen by a couple, whose surname was Frankie, near Smith’s Gully 40km north of Clayton South.

“HIBAL balloons were filled with gas through a thin tube which went to the top of the balloon and was left in place during the balloon flight,” Mr Basterfield said.

He said uncovered documents had also highlighted government concern about the potential damage if a heavy test balloon came down in a suburban area.

“The Department of External Affairs files on HIBAL reveal there was considerable discussion on possible damage to property or personnel by a HIBAL balloon,” Mr Basterfield said.

But despite government archival records showing the results of numerous HIBAL test flights, the paperwork for the launches scheduled for the day before Westall appear to have been lost or destroyed.

“What is strikingly missing is a memo reporting on the actual four launches for April 1966, one of which was scheduled for 5 April 1966, the day before Westall.

“So we have no (official) knowledge of where flight 292 went.” – Herald Sun

Australia’s Roswell: The Day the Earth Stood Still in Clayton South

    The Westall UFO Incident

Over 200 students and teachers witnessed an unexplained flying object on Wednesday 6th April 1966 around 11.00 am. They reported it descended into a nearby open wild grass field adjacent to a grove of pine trees in an area known as The Grange. The object then ascended in a north-westerly direction over the suburb of Clayton South.

Shane Ryan is a researcher looking for eyewitnesses. “It happened on the Wednesday before Easter, April 6, 1966, about 11 0’clock in the morning.

Around about 200 people, most of them students at what was then called Westall High School, were out for morning recess”, says Shane. “Many saw the strange object descend behind pine trees in The Grange Reserve, and then later ascend and fly away at great speed.

The people who ran over to the reserve found a huge ring in the paddock where the object had been seen.

Some people reported five light aircraft following or chasing the object.

Academic throws light on 40-year-old UFO mystery

Just what did flash out of the sky and into the lives of hundreds that April day? Stephen Cauchi reports.

A Canberra academic is investigating one of Australia’s most compelling UFO mysteries, a sighting by hundreds of people in the Melbourne suburb of Westall on April 6, 1966.

More than 200 students and staff from two schools watched as the object landed in a nearby paddock, lifted off and vanished.

Shane Ryan, an English lecturer at the University of Canberra, is interviewing dozens of witnesses for a book he hopes to publish on the 40th anniversary of the sighting.

Mr Ryan, 38, was alerted to the events in the 1980s by a housemate who was there. Unlike most UFO sightings, the Westall object had a large number of credible witnesses. It was viewed in daylight and attracted a forceful response from police and the RAAF.

“It had these rather interesting elements which indicated to me that, unlike some other so-called UFO stories, there was some substance to this,” he told The Sunday Age.

“I knew the 40th anniversary was coming up next year, so I thought it was timely to do some research on it.”

Mr Ryan has interviewed about 30 witnesses, mostly former staff and students from the Westall secondary and primary schools. He has tried obtaining police and RAAF reports, but so far with little luck. The story was covered then by Channel Nine, The Age and local newspapers.

On the UFO, everyone seems to agree, Mr Ryan says. It was a low-flying, silver/grey shining object, either of classical flying saucer shape or close to it, “a cup turned upside down on a saucer”. The students were familiar with light aircraft because the schools were close to Moorabbin Airport. Although the UFO was of similar size, “everyone said straight away that they knew it was not a plane”, Mr Ryan said, nor a weather balloon.

The object was in view for up to 20 minutes, and many saw it descend. Most agree it landed behind pine trees at the Grange Reserve. Dozens of students ran across what was then an open paddock to the reserve to investigate, but the object had lifted off and vanished.

Other details are sketchier. The UFO appears to have left a circle of scorched grass; others say several circles were left in paddocks bordering Grange Reserve.

Many witnesses, not all, report seeing aircraft, up to five, trailing the UFO. Some say it made no sound, others say it did.

Many reported that police/air force/military personnel inspected the site; some (not all) say the authorities burnt the site. The Dandenong Journal, for which the story was front-page news two weeks in a row, reported that “students and staff have been instructed to ‘talk to no-one’ about the incident”. Nevertheless, one teacher, Andrew Greenwood, gave the paper a detailed account.

“It was silvery-grey and seemed to thicken at times,” he said. “The thickening was similar to when a disc is turned a little to show the underside.”

One of the closest witnesses was a boy whose family leased land at Grange Reserve for horses.

Shaun Matthews (not a student at Westall) was on holidays and spending time on the land.

“I saw the thing come across the horizon and drop down behind the pine trees,” he told The Sunday Age this week. “I couldn’t tell you what it was. It certainly wasn’t a light aircraft or anything of the like …

“I saw the thing drop down behind the pine trees and saw it leave again. I couldn’t tell you how long it was there for, it was such a long time ago.”

Mr Matthews, 51 and now living in Greenvale, said the object “went up and off very very rapidly”.

“I went over and there was a circle in the clearing. It looked like it had been cooked or boiled, not burnt as I remember,” he said. “A heap of kids from Westall primary and high school came charging through to see what had happened — ‘look at this, look at that, we saw it as well’, that sort of thing. It was a bit of a talking point for a couple of days.”

Mr Matthews said the object, about the size of “two family cars”, passed him at a distance of about “four football fields”. “It was silvery, but it had a sort-of purple hue to it, very bright, but not bright enough that you couldn’t look at it,” he said.

“I saw that it dropped down behind the trees, and I thought, ‘hello, hang on’. A minute or so later, it went straight up, just gone.”

He said police and other officials interviewed his mother. But he cannot remember them burning the landing site, as others have alleged. And he did not see any light aircraft trailing the object, as others did.

“The way this thing moved there is no way it could have been a weather balloon or a light aircraft,” he said.

A helicopter? No way — no noise, wrong shape, and it didn’t move like it. It came out of the distance, stopped, and then just dropped.

“It didn’t just sort of cruise and then slightly descend at an angle. It just stopped, dropped, and then went straight up.”

The Victorian UFO Research Society investigated the incident. VUFORS secretary Tony Cook said Westall remained one of Australia’s major unexplained UFO cases.

The top one was the case of Frederick Valentich, a 20-year-old Melbourne pilot whose light plane disappeared while flying over Bass Strait in 1978.

In the last minutes of radio communication, Valentich reported seeing a UFO hovering above his plane. He and his craft were never recovered.

“It’s pretty well documented,” Mr Cook said. “That’s probably the most important one because it involves the disappearance of a person.”

Mr Cook said the society’s stance on UFOs was that, “there are people out there seeing unusual things in the sky at times and they can’t be explained. But it’s a very big leap to go from unexplained things in the sky to extraterrestrials.”

Most witnesses, including Mr Matthews, say the UFO was not an aircraft or helicopter. But Westall is only six kilometres from Moorabbin Airport, and the object was roughly headed in that direction, travelling north to south.

“It sounds to me like some sort of experimental craft, very much Earth-based,” Steve Roberts, of Australian Skeptics, said.

“It is an interesting event with lots of witnesses and what we now call a crop circle.

“Accounts are confused. Some have the object landing and taking off again, others say ‘a paddock over which the object seemed to hover’.”

As well, “if there was a whole swag of officials investigating it, there must be an official report in RAAF archives somewhere”.

But Mr Ryan said that no one at the RAAF knew of the incident.

But given the history of the case — the way students and staff were told to keep quiet from the start — that was not surprising, he said.

“As I got a little bit older, I got a little more interested in the social and historical aspects of the story, how something like this could have happened and how it reflected society at the time, and how authorities responded to it,” he said.

“There’s been a layer of secrecy that was very, very prominent in this story from the beginning.”

Polaroid photo of UFO over South Clayton taken 4 days before reported Westall High School incident

Shane Ryan is a researcher looking for eyewitnesses to the 1966 Westall UFO incident, on the Wednesday before Easter, April 6, 1966, about 11 0’clock in the morning.

Say the name Roswell and 774’s Breakfast presenter Red Symons immediately thinks of metal objects shooting through the sky landing in the desert, and little green men coming out of them. But when you say the name Clayton South, you probably think pork buns, unless you were around in 1966 and were one of 200 people who witnessed the Westall UFO incident.

“It’s an interesting case because there was this trace left behind which not only those kids saw, but a whole number of people who came afterwards, after school and adults and so forth came down to have a look at it as well.”

A crop circle perhaps? “Some people call it that,” continues Shane, “I’m not sure that it was, but it was certainly a ring left behind in the grass. And the other fascinating aspect of the story is that some people talk about the area being cordoned off by people in uniform.”

Several witnesses reported being spoken to by the RAAF or military, including the school’s science teacher, who was apparently threatened by two RAAF officers under the Official Secrets Act, if he spoke in public about what he had seen. The high school authorities dealt very harshly with both students and staff in the wake of this event, and forbade any discussion about it.

Shane has now established an email discussion group to encourage people to come forward and tell their stories about that day. About 45 people have made contact thus far. A lot of former Westall school students and two or three of the teachers. This group is dedicated to those people who were involved in, or have an interest in the incident at Westall High School, in the Melbourne suburb of Clayton South. He is especially keen to hear from people from “the other side”, that is from the side of the authorities who may have been involved that day, such as RAAF, police or army.

    —–-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Clayton South residents remember the 1966 day they saw flying objects

heraldsun – Flying saucers, crop circles, missing film, disappearing files, denials, military cover-ups, threats and shadowy Men in Black.

    It couldn’t happen here?

Most people would say it couldn’t happen anywhere!

But more than 100 witnesses to one of the world’s biggest UFO mysteries are adamant that it did, in broad daylight in Clayton South on April 6, 1966.

And 44 years after the event, many are still fuming that the military they say were swarming around the scene for days have offically denied the incident and no record appears to exist.

They say they spent their lives being doubted and want some official acknowledgment that something weird happened above and behind Westall high and primary schools that morning.

London’s Telegraph newspaper rates it as the fifth-greatest UFO mystery of all time, but another mystery is how little-known the episode is here.

A documentary – Westall ’66:  A Suburban UFO Mystery – premieres on Austar and Foxtel’s Sci-Fi Channel at 8.30pm tomorrow.

Producers hope it will flush out an official who can say what the military were doing and what they found.

Researcher Shane Ryan has spent five years tracking 110 witnesses, many found through an appeal in the Herald Sun in 2006, but could find no military officials, and no record of a military response.

But locals remember it vividly, saying it lasted days.

The 110 Mr Ryan has found who say they saw saucers include professionals, tradies and a Ministerial Adviser, but not one military official of the time.

He says time is running out for them to come clean.

“Whatever security concerns there were at the time, they are redundant now,” he says.

A TV crew covered the incident and it screened on the 6pm news, but the film canister from the job was recently found empty in the station archives.

Several witnesses say they were warned off speaking by sharply-dressed men in dark suits, in the principal’s office and at home.

Others recall school threats of detention for UFO talk.

But talk there was, and coverage.

The Dandenong Journal reported the incident on its front page for consecutive issues and ran interviews with witnesses.

Many were school pupils who say they saw flying saucers from their school yards. Some ran to Grange Reserve, where the craft appeared to have come down.

Terry Peck, 56, was among them. She says she was playing cricket on the oval, saw the saucer and chased after it to Grange Reserve.

“Two girls were there before me. One was terribly upset and they were pale, really white, ghostly white. They just said they had passed out, fainted. One was taken to hospital in an ambulance,” she says.

Ms Peck says she saw a silver, classic-shape saucer rise up.

“I was about 6m away from it. It was bigger than a car and circular. I think I saw some lights underneath it.

“We all got called to an assembly … and they told us all to keep quiet.

“I’d absolutely just like someone to come forward from the services just to say ‘yes, it did happen, and it landed and there was a cover-up’.”

Jacqueline Argent, 58, in Form 3 then, says she saw a UFO from the oval and was one of the first three kids over the fence looking for where it came down.

“Originally I thought it must have been an experimental-type aircraft, but nothing has emerged like that after all these years,” she said.

She says she was called into the headmaster’s office and interrogated by three men: “They had good-quality suits and were well spoken. They said, ‘I suppose you saw little green men’?

“I spoke to my parents about it at the time and they were pretty outraged.”

Retired engineer Kevin Hurley, a Monash Uni student then, missed the saucers but saw the aftermath.

“There were army or air force people in the area,” he said.

“I’m pretty sure they were going around the area with geiger counters or metal detectors.

“I’m not a freak that thinks Martian people are coming. I don’t think that kind of stuff, but it’s bugged me.

“After 44 years, I reckon they need to come clean on this.”

    Revisting the Westall UFO Incident

    B4INREMOTE-aHR0cDovLzEuYnAuYmxvZ3Nwb3QuY29tLy1jVEllSndOWURNNC9UZXp3TGdZV0JHSS9BQUFBQUFBQVlray9xdlRCdHltWnhaYy9zMTYwMC93ZXN0YWxsMi5KUEc=

The article said witnesses had seen a number of small planes circle around the object – however, a check later showed that no commercial, private or RAAF pilots had reported anything unusual in the area.

But despite the many witnesses, exactly what happened at 11am that day in Cold War-era Melbourne suburbia has remained a mystery.

Suzanne Savage, who was in form 2 at Westall High in 1966, recalls principal Frank Samblebe holding a special assembly after she and her science class saw a ”classic saucer-shaped object” descend into Grange Reserve and then disappear into the sky.

”He said he didn’t want to hear any more about this nonsense. We were not to discuss it ever again – and so I didn’t,” Ms Savage told The Saturday Age.

Ian Cochrane, who was in form 3 at Westall High in 1966, also believes the bizarre occurrence was covered up.

Mr Cochrane recalls returning to Grange Reserve the following Saturday to show his mates the perfect circle of flattened grass, only to discover the site had been dug up.

”If you talked about it you’d get nutbags to contend with, or people who couldn’t cope, so you just didn’t talk about it,” Mr Cochrane said.

What did the students see? Was it a UFO from outer space, a secret military aircraft, a meteorological oddity or an example of a psychological phenomenon, where people were influenced by each other to believe in something they did not really see?

Forty-five years later Shane Ryan is still searching for answers. The English teacher has spent the past six years investigating the flying saucer enigma, which he believes ranks alongside the daylight school-based UFO sightings in Broad Haven in Wales in 1974 and Ruwa in Zimbabwe in 1994.

”It’s obvious to me people saw something very strange and unusual and somebody in the government didn’t really want the story to get out,” he said.

Mr Ryan has interviewed more than 300 people connected to the case, 89 of whom claim they saw a flying saucer and 138 who saw the circle. He said several witnesses told of police and men in military uniforms who cordoned off the landing site and interviewed some students.

However, despite extensive searches, Mr Ryan has been unable to find police or military personnel who attended on the day or locate documents that may be held by state and federal government agencies.

”I’m so frustrated that after all these years I can’t get an official answer about why the powers that be were there that day and why they didn’t want the students to talk about what they saw,” he said.

Mr Ryan’s search for the truth is the subject of the documentary Westall 66: A Suburban UFO Mystery, directed by Rosie Jones, which will screen at 8.30pm on Tuesday on the Sci Fi Channel on Foxtel and Austar.

The Australian Teachers of Media have also created a study guide around the event, which can be used in the national history curriculum.

The study guide says Westall 66 reflects a fascinating and pivotal period in world history. ”With its undercurrent of Cold War paranoia, secret US airbases and a strong military relationship between Australia and America, this story raises questions about the acceptability of cover-ups and untruths delivered by governments in the interests of national security,” it says.

Study guide co-writer Lee Burton says these are themes that have repercussions today. ”This is an example of how we can help students understand an historical event within a local community that occurred in living memory,” she said. ”My guess is it will be very popular.” – theage

    Odd figure on the Moon

Remember the 1967 NASA image referred to as “The Shard”? A strange and very large tower type figure that appeared in one still image captured by Lunar Orbiter III (I think). Well, this thing spotted by Jasenko could be eerily similar. An irregularly shaped dark spot he noticed on Google Moon looks like it could be a cast shadow from a massive standing object, or figure. At first I thought maybe it was something drawn into the picture but after going to G. Moon, whatever it is or isn’t.. uh, is there. You get the idea. Go check it out and of course decide for yourself. Debunk it, shred it, figure it out.

    Thanks Jasenko!

    Something weird about my neighbor

I’m a 20 year-old aspiring filmmaker. I’m dropping out of college and just recently moved to LA to pursue a career in movies. My grandparents live out here and were generous enough to let me move in with them temporarily until I can afford my own place. So now it’s just me and my grandparents living in this enormous old house of theirs. The property is on a corner, surrounded by tall hedges and various plants and trees. There’s also a small “guest house” out back beyond some trees which my grandparents sold back in the 70′s. There’s an elderly man, Mr. Heedy, who’s lived there since then. He and his deceased wife are old family friends–I remember seeing them both on a few occasions when I came to visit my grandparents as a child. Mr. Heedy and my grandfather used to talk in the driveway about fixing cars and stuff like that while Mrs. Heedy sat in a rocking chair on the porch. I never saw her get up or walk around. Mr. Heedy would sometimes give me candy bars, which I more than appreciated as a little kid, but he would also “playfully” scare me as many adults do with children–joking about the ghost of a dead cat that my grandparents owned back when my mom was a teenager, or shushing me when I was outside playing with my cousins because “the flowers won’t like it.” One time he picked a bright pink flower from his garden and gave it to me, warning me to behave myself and be a proper little boy so the flower wouldn’t get angry and poison me. I had (and still have) an overactive imagination, which probably explains my nightmare, but it still bothers me to this day: that night, I had a dream where I was standing at the edge of a forest, looking out at a field of the pink flowers, and I remember feeling terror because the flowers were everywhere and were releasing pollen into the air so everyone would get poisoned and die. I only had that dream once, but ever since then it’s been burned into my memory.

Mr. Heedy’s wife got sick with something and died back in the early 2000′s, and after that Mr. Heedy became something of a shut-in. He rarely leaves the guest house, and when he does, according to my grandparents, it’s only to work in the garden and keep the flowers watered. This is what’s been bugging me since I moved in late last week: as far as I can tell, he never even leaves the property to buy groceries. I don’t know how he eats; he’s literally in his house all the time. Two nights ago, I decided to pull an all-nighter to see if maybe he went out at all during that time. This is where it gets really strange.

At around 3am, while I was in my room watching a movie on my laptop, I thought I heard someone singing. I just assumed it was one of the audio tracks in the movie. But this happened two more times again while I was watching, and when the movie was over and I took my headphones off, I heard it again. It was more like chanting, coming from outside. I stood up and walked over to the window, and for a moment I even laughed to myself and wondered if maybe my neighbor was a Satan-worshipper like in Rosemary’s Baby or something like that. Then I looked down out the window and saw the guest house through the trees. The main room of the house looked like it was lit up by candles, too dim to make out anything inside. The chanting was coming loud and clear from inside the house. If horror movies have taught me anything, the chanting was probably in Latin, but I couldn’t understand any words (I took four years of Latin in school). While I was watching the house, I heard footsteps down below in the dirt next to the side of the house, and I looked down to see a shadowy figure (remember, it was really, really dark out) walking in a weird way up to it–sort of staggering, the way a toddler just learning to walk would–and then stopping at the front door, where it just stood there, perfectly still, for the next hour, during which time the chanting occasionally subsided and then came back. As you can imagine, I was already scared shitless, but what happened next almost gave me a genuine heart attack. The figure turned its head about 135 degrees to the right and was looking at something. I followed its gaze down the path to the house and saw a second figure CRAWLING on the ground up to the porch like a spider. At this point I actually gasped and jumped back from the window and broke out in a cold sweat. I’ve never felt more scared in my whole life. For a long time I just stood there in the middle of my room with my hands over my mouth, breathing heavily and feeling my heart pound against my chest, afraid to look back out the window or to move in any direction.

Eventually the sun came up and I heard the comforting sounds of birds chirping and cars driving by. I tried lying down on my bed to sleep, but couldn’t. I waited until it was bright out and I could hear my grandparents walking about downstairs and making breakfast before I decided to get up again. I glanced out the window at Mr. Heedy’s house. Everything was normal again. Anyway, the rest of the day went by as usual, and the events of the night before started to just feel like a bad dream. That night I was so exhausted that I didn’t even try to stay awake again and just slept all the way through. I’m pulling another all-nighter right now while I’m writing this and so far no chanting or anything from the guest house. I might try to get some sleep if nothing happens, but if it does, I’ll post an update sometime later. – Reddit.com

Dead koala with $50 stuffed in mouth dumped at police station

Police are investigating whether the dumping of a dead koala outside a police station in Victoria’s south-west with $50 stuffed in its mouth is linked to a crackdown on drug crime in the region.

Sergeant Jason Von Tunk, who the discovered the koala’s body, says he was working alone at the Heywood police station on Saturday night when he heard a thud outside.

He said he went outside to investigate and found the animal dead in the driveway with money in its mouth.

“I went to investigate what it was and I saw a motionless koala in the drive way, and I looked around and couldn’t see anyone,” Sergeant Von Tunk said.

He continued: “Then I, on closer inspection, saw a $50 note stuffed in its mouth. It’s sickening, it’s morbid, if it is a joke, it’s certainly not funny. I just can’t understand it.”

Sergeant Von Tunk said he called in another officer from the nearby Portland police station to help establish a motive.

“The money itself, there was no note attached to it or anything, so we can only think that it’s some sort of sinister thing, it’s rather morbid,” he said.

“But without anyone coming forward we’re left in the lurch as to who, what, where and why.”

But he said the incident could be related to drug investigations.

“There’s a number of suspicions I can cast on and none of them have been ruled out, and certainly drugs, but also some sort of protest group or even a prank, I couldn’t tell you,” he said.

Sergeant Von Tunk said the koala had head injuries but he did not think it was killed deliberately.

“We weren’t able to determine how the koala died, but there didn’t appear to be any cruelty aspects to it,” he said.

“It appears that it could’ve just been run over and it was an opportunistic way to just get it off the side of the road, put $50 in its mouth and just throw it at the police station.” – abc.net.au

    UFOs: A True Unknown

    (Before It's News)

What constitutes a good, solid and credible UFO incident? That’s a very good question, and one I get asked now and again. Well, my answer would be that such a case would, ideally, have the support of a number of witnesses, some form of evidence that can be analyzed, and on the record individuals whose words we can refer to and study. And, for me, this is typified by a highly notable affair that falls into this particular category, and which will be celebrating its 60th anniversary in just a few months from now…

On both July 19 and 20, 1952, there were repeated sightings of unknown aerial objects in the Washington, D.C., airspace, something that, on July 24, led USAF Major General John A. Samford to state in a Secret memorandum for the attention of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations: “We are interested in these reports in that we must always on the alert for any threat or indication of a threat to the United States. We cannot ignore these reports but the mild hysteria subsequent to publicity given this subject causes an influx of reports which since the 19th of July has almost saturated our ‘Emergency’ procedures.”

The situation really escalated after the weekend of July 26-27. A two-page USAF document, prepared only days later, related the facts: “This incident involved unidentified targets observed on the radar scopes at the Air Route Traffic Control Center and the tower, both at Washington National Airport, and the Approach Control Radar at Andrews Air Force Base. In addition, visual observations were reported to Andrews and Bolling AFB and to ARTC Center, the latter by pilots of commercial aircraft and one CAA aircraft…”

    The report continues:

“Varying numbers (up to 12 simultaneously) of u/i targets on ARTC radar scope. Termed by CAA personnel as ‘generally solid returns’, similar to a/c except slower. Mr. Bill Schreve, flying a/c NC-12 reported at 2246 EDT that he had visually spotted 5 objects giving off a light glow ranging from orange to white; his altitude at time was 2,200’. Some commercial pilots reported visuals ranging from ‘cigarette glow’ to a ‘light…”

And the deep strangeness only continued, as the USAF noted:

“ARTC crew commented that, as compared with u/i returns picked up in early hours of 20 July 52, these returns appeared to be more haphazard in their actions, i.e. they did not follow a/c around nor did they cross scope consistently on same general heading. Some commented that the returns appeared to be from objects ‘capable of dropping out of the pattern at will’. Also that returns had ‘creeping appearance’. One member of crew commented that one object to which F-94 was vectored just ‘disappeared from Scope’ shortly after F-94 started pursuing. All crew members emphatic that most u/i returns have been picked up from time to time over the past few months but never before had they appeared in such quantities over such a prolonged period and with such definition as was experienced on the nights of 19/20 and 26/27 July 1952.”

Although the portions extracted from this report speak for themselves, let us now examine an official transcript of a conversation, dated July 26, between staff at Washington National Airport and personnel from Andrews Air Force Base at the time of the sightings:

Wash: “Andrews Tower, do you read? Did you have an airplane in sight west-northwest or east of your airport eastbound?”

Andr: “No, but we just got a call from the Center. We’re looking for it.”

Wash: “We’ve got a big target showing up on our scope. He’s just coming in on the west edge of your airport – the northwest edge of it eastbound. He’ll be passing right through the northern portion of your field on an east heading. He’s about a quarter of a mile from the northwest runway – right over the edge of your runway now.”

Andr: “This is Andrews. Our radar tracking says he’s got a big fat target out here northwest of Andrews. He says he’s got two more south of the field.”

Wash: “Yes, well the Center has about four or five around the Andrews Range Station. The Center is working a National Airlines – the Center is working him and vectoring him around his target. He went around Andrews. He saw one of them – looks like a meteor…went by him…or something. He said he’s got one about three miles off his right wing right now. There are so many targets around here it is hard to tell as they are not moving very fast.”

Within a matter of hours of hearing of the events of July 26-27, FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover instructed N.W. Philcox, the FBI’s Air Force liaison representative, to determine what had taken place and to ascertain the Air Force’s opinions on the UFO subject as a whole.

On July 29, Philcox made arrangements through the office of the Director of Air Intelligence, Major General John A. Samford, to meet with Commander Randall Boyd of the Current Intelligence Branch, Estimates Division, Air Intelligence, regarding “the present status of Air Intelligence research into the numerous reports regarding flying saucers and flying discs.”

Although the Air Force was publicly playing down the possibility that UFOs were anything truly extraordinary, Philcox was advised that “at the present time the Air Force has failed to arrive at any satisfactory conclusion in its research regarding numerous reports of flying saucers and flying discs sighted throughout the United States.”

Philcox was further informed that Air Intelligence had set up at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, the Air Technical Intelligence Center, which had been established in part for the purpose of “coordinating, correlating and making research into all reports regarding flying saucers and flying discs.”

As Philcox listened very carefully to what Boyd had to say on the matter, he noted that the Air Force had placed their UFO reports into three definable categories. In the first instance there were those sightings “which are reported by citizens who claim they have seen flying saucers from the ground. These sightings vary in description, color and speeds. Very little credence is given to these sightings inasmuch as in most instances they are believed to be imaginative or some explainable object which actually crossed through the sky.”

Philcox then learned that the second category of encounters proved to be of greater significance: “Sightings reported by commercial or military pilots. These sightings are considered more credible by the Air Force inasmuch as commercial or military pilots are experienced in the air and are not expected to see objects which are entirely imaginative. In each of these instances, the individual who reports the sightings is thoroughly interviewed by a representative of Air Intelligence so that a complete description of the object can be obtained.”

The third category of encounters, Boyd advised Philcox, were those where, in addition to a visual sighting by a pilot, there was corroboration either from a ground-based source or by radar. Philcox wrote to Hoover: “Commander Boyd advised that this latter classification constitutes two or three per cent of the total number of sightings, but that they are the most credible reports received and are difficult to explain.”

“In these instances,” Philcox was told, “there is no doubt that these individuals reporting the sightings actually did see something in the sky.” And to demonstrate that Boyd was well acquainted with the UFO issue on a worldwide scale, he confided in Philcox that “sightings have also recently been reported as far distant as Acapulco, Mexico, Korea and French Morocco… the sightings reported in the last classification have never been satisfactorily explained.”

The commander then came out with a true bombshell, as Philcox noted in his report on the meeting: “[Boyd] advised that it is not entirely impossible that the objects may possibly be ships from another planet such as Mars.”

Clearly, within both the military and the Intelligence community of the day, there was deep concern about the Washington events – something which led to the development of startling and intriguing theories, and the analysis of countless data. So, collectively, this is why – in my opinion – the July 1952 encounters over the nation’s capital were evidence of true unknowns in our very midst…

A Dogfight Testimonial: Lieutenant Gorman Vs. UFO

    (Before It's News)

    ufo-sunset

Lieutenant George F. Gorman, a veteran pilot in the North Dakota Air National Guard, has gone down in history as the subject of an amazing close encounter with a still-unidentified flying object. Taking place on the night of October 1st, 1948, Lieutenant Gorman’s encounter was one of the earliest reported pilot testimonies regarding a UFO, and remains a classic case to this day.

Lt. Gorman was a member of the North Dakota Air National Guard and upon returning to Hector airport in Fargo from a cross-country flight with his squadron, he decided to keep his F-51 Mustang in the air to log some night-flight hours. So while the rest of the squadron landed, Gorman stayed aloft, circling the town of Fargo. As he prepared to land, the air traffic control tower at Hector airport advised him that there was another aircraft below him, specifically a Piper Cub. Lt. Gorman acknowledged and saw the plane about 500 feet below him. Soon after, he saw something resembling the tail light of another aircraft quickly pass him on his right side.

Alerting the control tower to the latter presence, the tower radioed back saying  there were no other craft in his vicinity except for the Piper Cub. Wanting to investigate further, Lt. Gorman radioed the tower to let them know of his intentions, and pursued the the object. Upon approaching within 1,000 yards of the object, Lt. Gorman estimated that the lighted object was small, about six to eight inches in diameter. What happened next is best described by Lt. Gorman’s own words, found in an excerpt from one case report:

“’It was about six to eight inches in diameter, clear white, and completely round without fuzz at the edges.  It was blinking on and off. As I approached, however, the light suddenly became steady and pulled into a sharp left bank. I thought it was making a pass at the tower. I dived after it and brought my manifold pressure up to sixty inches, but I couldn’t catch up with the thing. It started gaining altitude and again made a left bank,’ he said. ‘I put my F-51 into a sharp turn and tried to cut the light off in its turn. By then we were at about 7,000 feet. Suddenly it made a sharp right turn and we headed straight at each other. Just when we were about to collide, I guess I got scared. I went into a dive, and the light passed over my canopy at about 500 feet.’”

Immediately following this near-miss, Lt. Gorman said he made a sharp turn to continue his pursuit at which point the object was again heading straight for him on another collision course. Just when it appeared they would collide again, however, Lt. Gorman said the object shot straight up in a steep climb and disappeared. Wanting to continue his pursuit, Lt. Gorman also pulled his F-51 into a climb, but it stalled and so he returned to the airport. He was so disturbed and shaken by what had just happened, that despite being a veteran pilot and flight instructor (during World War II), he had difficulty landing his airplane.

According to another case report, Lt. Gorman would later make a statement to Major D.C. Jones, commander of the squadron which landed at Hector airport, that he believed there was some degree of thought behind the maneuvers exhibited by the craft he was pursuing. He also said: “I am also convinced that the object was governed by the laws of inertia because its acceleration was rapid but not immediate, and although it was able to turn fairly tight at considerable speed, it still followed a natural curve.”

the Air Force’s official explanation, made by Captain Edward J. Ruppelt (head of Project Blue Book) was that Lt. Gorman saw and pursued a lighted balloon. Dr. H. Menzel, an astronomer from Harvard University, saw some flaws in the Air Force’s balloon explanation, and additionally  proposed that what Gorman was chasing was along the lines of an optical illusion of the planet Jupiter.

As always, I think it’s important to maintain a vigilant skepticism no matter how convincing such cases may be. Nonetheless, the aforementioned explanations seem to be almost an insult to Lt. Gorman’s intelligence and veteran, war-time flying experience. Thankfully, there were at least three corroborators (the chief of the air traffic control tower at Hector airport as well as two men in the Piper Cub) who saw most of the so-called dogfight through their binoculars. Some of Lt. Gorman’s testimony was also included in a 1952 issue of LIFE magazine: “For 27 hair-raising minutes Gorman pursued the light through a series of intricate manoeuvres. He said it was about 6 inches in diameter and going faster than his F-51 (300-400 mph). It made no sound and left no exhaust trail.”

It is also interesting to view Lt. Gorman’s case in comparison to the recently covered videos of Damien Nott in episode 12.04, the ones in which there are clearly some white spherical shapes making quick accelerations and sharp turns. While the size of the objects are difficult to determine in Nott’s videos, it still seems as though some eerie comparisons can be made. Regardless, Lt. Gorman’s case is an extraordinary one which I thought warranted a place in the annals of Mysterious Universe.

    Grote UFO-wolk boven zuidoosten China

    Grote UFO-wolk boven zuidoosten China

    Grote UFO-wolk boven zuidoosten China

    UFO-wolk boven China (Imaginechina/REX)

Who Will Win The Rosetta Stone Award? The Russian Linguist Or The American/Canadian Scientist?

I will have Pastrami with that Debate

Stanton Friedman has reiterated calling my book The Rosetta Deception disinformation even though he hasn't bothered to read it. He also said that I am full of baloney and puts forward an article he wrote for the MUFON Journal in 2010 as the basis for his comments. What he doesn't yet realize (because he hasn't read my book) is that his 2010 comments only bolster the book's theory and do no not detract from it.

I didn't respond back in 2010 but since Stan decided to dredge up his article, it is time I set the record straight. I won't address his comments on Roswell because my book is NOT about Roswell. If he had bothered to read it, he probably would have tempered his comments accordingly. Instead, I will focus on Stanton's comments on the subject of disinformation.

    Stan says:

    • "I am definitely in agreement with James that disinformation is a very important aspect of hot and cold war activities. Certainly New Mexico is no stranger to disinformation and intentional misinformation. When the extraordinary first nuclear explosion was set off at Trinity site on the White Sands Missile Range on July 16, 1947, at 5:29 AM, it was seen by people as far as 100 miles away. Many calls were made to Sheriff's offices, police forces, etc. In a few days a totally false story was released indicating that an ammunition dump had blown up and that fortunately nobody was injured. It was only after the nuclear detonations on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, on August 6 and 9, that the true story came out. The city of Los Alamos, NM, where the scientific work connected with the development of those weapons was conducted was a totally secret city. Nobel prize winning scientists travelled under assumed names. And there were many more examples. A very distressing disinformation release occurred on Sept.12, 1945, when the New York Times quoted General T.F. Farrell, Chief of the War Departmentís mission to Hiroshima, saying that the bomb produced no long lived radioactivity. That was known to be totally false as a result of medical observations of very sick people in Hiroshima a month after the blast."

Thanks Stan for confirming that the NY Times was a conduit for disinformation. I highlight the NT Times complicity in disinformation in my book on page  169.

    Stan continues:

    • "During World War II there were many examples of Disinformation. The allies made a very elaborate and subtle effort to convince Hitler that the expected invasion of Germany would take place near Calais, France, under General Patton. Instead Normandy was the location. Hitler was fooled and withheld his reserve troops not knowing that Normandy was just a feint. It was too late when he finally responded."

Thanks Stan for mentioning the WW2 disinformation operations that were conducted as strategic deception against the Axis powers. The deception planners that designed and conducted those disinformation operations were the London Controlling Section in the UK and Joint Security Control in the United States. The perpetrators of the 1946 Ghost Rockets just so happened to be the successor members of these two deception planning organizations. On the American side, these included Joint Security Control members  General Hoyt Vandenberg, General George McDonald, General Stephen Chamberlin and General Clayton Bissell, among others. If you read the book you will find extensive footnotes that point to the official documents that show the involvement of these characters.

    Stan further asserts:

    • "James goes on at some length about a Project Seal supposedly conducted in secrecy by New Zealand, the USA and the United Kingdom towards the end of WW II. The idea was to see if an artificial Tsunami could be created using underwater explosives and causing a huge tidal wave to wash away the Japanese troops on Pacific Islands. He focused on articles appearing in Mid-June 1947 suggesting the project had been working on something as powerful as the atomic bomb and makes much of the timing of one of the articles being in a newspaper next to one about Kenneth Arnold's sighting. For reasons unknown the articles named 2 professionals involved in the project. James is right to ask what that was all about. Was it to tantalize the Russians? But he provides no link between that story and Roswell or the Soviets.
There is no "supposedly" about it. Project Seal was a wartime classified project. I have posted the declassified project documents on my blog http://rosettadeception.blogspot.com.
What you failed to mention to your readers is that the project was terminated in 1945 but promoted as ongoing in 1947 by the original scientists working on the project. These scientists were purposely telling lies but packaging it as  truth - that is called disinformation.

You also failed to mention that the press in 1947 did not know that the already terminated project was a tsunami creator as the project wasn't declassified till much later. Instead the speculation two weeks before Kenneth Arnold had his sighting was that the super secret weapon was an airborne weapon.
When you read my book you will see the connection this story has with the Soviets.

What is that debunking tactic you really hate others using? Oh yes - "What the Public doesn't know, don't tell them

    Stan acts surprised when:

    • "Carrion doesn't mention the story told by Professor Valery Burdakov of the Scientific Geoinformation Center of the USSR Academy of Sciences in a large article in Rabochhaya Tribuna (the Workers Tribune) in August 1991, Professor Burdakov told how he had been told by Sergey Korolyev, the Soviet Union's top rocket designer, that Josef Stalin had ordered Korolyev to spend time in secret reviewing a number of foreign articles about UFOs including about Roswell. Several Translators were provided."

You won't be surprised Stan to see in my book that this is exactly what the Rosetta Deception was about - to get the Soviets interested first in the Ghost Rockets and later Flying Saucers for a mundane although highly important reason that had nothing to do with ET.  The book will explain how important those foreign articles were to pulling off the deception.

And most importantly Stan, thank you for mentioning that:

    • "Korolyev told Stalin the saucers seemed to be real, but were not a security threat to the USSR. Stalin said other scientists had provided the same opinion. Burdakov was asked about the source of the information. His answer was from Spies. We now know, of course that there were, in 1947, Russian spies such as the Rosenbergs and Klaus Fuchs working at Los Alamos."

Yes Stan, the source were Soviet spies because the Rosetta Deception is intimately tied to the Venona Project, the highly secret counterintelligence program that was being conducted from 1946 onward to expose those very spies.

So Stan, thank you for bolstering my book precognitively in 2010. It is too bad your precognitive abilities failed you when you predicted before reading the book, that the Rosetta Deception itself is just disinformation. If you still stand by that comment, then you won't object to a public debate where you present evidence disputing that my book presents anything other than factual evidence backed up by documented sources.

DAYLIGHT SIGHTING OF A DISC OVER BENNINGTON VERMONT

    (Before It's News)

    JULY 15, 1970    ………    BENNINGTON VERMONT

Outside a shoe store in broad daylight, on a nearly cloudless day, in the town of Bennington in Vermont in the year 1970. I was with a young woman at the time that was outside the store, while my parents were shopping in there. There was no sound from the disc at all. When we first noticed the object, it was just hovering there in the sky about six hundred feet away, and about one hundred feet off of the ground. It started to move in a slow and straight motion to my left. The sighting was an interest that invoked curiosity and wonder at what it was that we were witness to. I mentioned to her to go and tell everyone in the shoe store to come out and to see this.

The disc shaped object exited the sky in a display of non ballistic motion before anyone else could arrive. My father was a prominent university theologian that was the author of several books that focus around psychic phenomenon, and classified government research. There was no mistaken idea as to what it was that the two of us were seeing on that day in broad daylight. It was a positive experience that was without fear or apprehension as to what it was that we were witnessing. A miracle with a divine providence was what it was that we had seen that day. I have watched the government of this country ensure the security of information and unusual phenomenon that is supported by a use of lethal force. The reciprocity from me was one of being perplexed, and I gathered that a mandate of very stringent conditions of containment in access to information was being implemented by the Department of Defense.

I never saw the occupants of the UFO, since the age level precluded my ability to assimilate the ‘who, what, when, and where’ to a greater degree. I have watched other good men and women pay a high personal cost in order to become the victims of those that want to control the telepathic influence of these beings. This stands in contrast to being a part of the solution in society that is directed towards an understanding as to why these intelligent life forms that are from other planets are visiting the Earth.

NOTE: The above image is real and was witnessed 1-17-13 in Palm Harbor Park in Florida.

This case is under investigation by Chief Investigator ken Pfeifer of MUFON Vermont.

UFO captured on video in North Wales

    (Before It's News)

Several witnesses apparently saw the same UFO in North Wales last night. As is often the case these days, many of the witnesses turned to social media for answers and to share their experiences. One man posted a video on YouTube, others posted in Facebook, and another tweeted a local news outlet.

The first set of sightings took place in Wrexham in North Wales. David Price posted a video of this UFO, In the description he says he captured the video on his iPod and transferred it to his tablet to post it on YouTube.

Price told Wrexham.com, “I was looking towards Bradley from First Avenue in Gwersyllt at about 10:20pm. The lights were quite far apart but connected, no sound, slowly flew towards town… They were flashing in sync but not together, no other colours, just red.”

Wrexham.com said they heard from other witnesses as well. One said, “Quite clearly could see it, there was no noise and it was bang in the middle of town on a quiet night.”

Another witness said, “There were red lights flashing in the sky, they were quite far apart but travelling really slow.”

A man named Stephen posted on Wrexham.com’s Facebook page, “Anyone see two red lights fly low over Wrexham last night? Wasn’t a plane, helicopter and defo not lanterns.”

Later that night, a witness in nearby Deeside apparently saw the same object. He tweeted the local news outlet Deeside.com, saying, “@DeesideDotCom just seen something strange fly over deeside either very very big plain or 2 in formation alternative red flashing lights ???”

Deeside.com replied, “@Mikey_Rowe didn’t see anything significant on @flightradar24 – traffic in to LPL appears to be coming in low over Q/Ferry tonight though..”

More and more UFO sightings are playing out over social media. Recently, UFO sightings in Toronto caused excitement on the web as witnesses tweeted about their sightings.

Perhaps this up to the second type of information exchange will eventually be able to help provide more information about the mysterious objects being witnessed. In the case of North Wales last night, no one has yet offered a possible explanation, prosaic or otherwise.

Unexplained Files’ to cover controversial UFO cases tonight

    (Before It's News)

The hit Science Channel show The Unexplained Files is set to tackle two controversial UFO cases in tonight’s episode.

The episode will first cover a mysterious skeleton discovered in Peru in 2011. The skeleton made headlines the following year when analysis revealed unusual DNA sequencing. The media quickly latched on to claims that this could be the skeleton of an alien. According the Science Channel,  “Anthropologist Dr. Theo Paredes investigates these shocking claims as forensic analysis reveals that the skeleton was not the victim of disease or ritual cranial deformation. And when tests fail to identify paternal DNA, he is forced to consider the possibility of an extra-terrestrial origin.”

From the desert to the Baltic Sea, the show will dive into the mysterious object discovered resting on the floor of the ocean. The shape of the object resembles the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars and has lead researchers to believe they’ve discovered the remains of a crashed UFO. The mystery deepens as they uncover reports of military UFO records and further UFO sightings in the area. The Science Channel states, “Polish fisherman Mirek Malczewski and five other crew members witness a UFO hovering above the Baltic. The craft has a remarkable similarity to the disc found by Ocean X.”

The Unexplained Files: Peruvian Alien Skull and Baltic Sea UFO airs tonight, Tuesday, August 5th, on the Science Channel at 10PM and 1 AM EST.

Investigating giants of the Georgian Caucuses

Early in 2014, whilst I was busy researching and exploring the ancient megalithic ruins here in Ecuador nicknamed as ‘The Lost City of Giants’, I was contacted by a television production company interested in giants. This contact eventually led to my being invited to join an expedition preparing to travel up into the Georgian Caucuses.

In June I traveled out to Georgia and met up with the film crew from the Discovery Network. The job in hand was to help create an episode of the Science Channel’s flagship cable show called ‘The Unexplained Files’. This particular production would be all about ancient giant human-like beings.

This show is currently credited with being the most popular Science Channel series of 2013, it has the following mission directive: “...aims to analyze historical events and scientific phenomena by using interviews with scientists, academic researchers and reliable eyewitness accounts.”

So how did the Science Channel come to send us all to Georgia? The background to this story starts in 2008 when a group of Georgian researchers followed up on a story they had heard about the burial chamber of a giant having been stumbled upon by a herdsman in an extremely remote location. The account told that this farmer had entered an ancient stone crypt somewhere in the mountains only to find an incredible sight, two giant sized human skeletons sitting on chairs at a large table. The team of Georgian researchers hiked into the wilderness with the hope of investigating the discovery, this site being located high up in the Lesser Caucasus mountain range. This region is part of the enormous forested Borjormi-Kharagauli national park area

Borjomi National Park. Mountain top view.

When the group reached the site, which is difficult to reach, they found an ancient ruined structure and nearby was the ‘crypt’ chamber. By 2008 the crypt had collapsed and was now filled with soil and debris, the giants were not evident but a shallow dig in one corner revealed a large cache of very aged bones. The bones appeared to be human, yet the size seemed extreme compared to those of an average normal build human male.

Giant Bone Crypt. As seen in 2008 with bones showing in corner.

    Giant bones recovered in 2008.

The team took some sample pieces from the remains and returned to the Georgian capital, Tbilisi. There they were presented to the respected scientist Professor Vekua, known for his discovery of the 1.8 million year old remains of Homo Erectus Georgicus. He stated that if the bones were human they would be consistent with a person of between 2.5 to 3.0 meters in height. Unfortunately before any final conclusions were reached or full testing could be done Vekua sadly died and the bones were lost somewhere in a Georgian museum archive among thousands of pieces and bones.

Prof. Vekua with giant bones from 2008 expedition.

Somehow the researchers for the Science Channel stumbled onto this story in 2014 and began contacting scientists and researchers in Georgia that were connected to the original discovery. It was then decided that they would send a film crew to meet with some of the members of the team there and travel with them back to the site of the find, hopefully to excavate more bones and have them tested. I was already in talks with the production company at this time, regarding them using my information from the Ecuador Lost City of Giants, so they decided that it would be good to have me go along with the film crew as their expert on ancient mysteries. This sounded like an interesting adventure so I decided to accept the offer.

We traveled by mini-bus to the ranger station on the edge of the national park land and loaded the film crew’s kit onto horses, grabbed our bags and began the grueling hike. We would have to travel some 30 km on foot to reach the destination led by the four members of the original expedition and some park rangers. The first part of the journey being through dense forests, home to bears, wolves, wild cats and at times armed poachers.

From about half way I began to notice worked stone, pieces of a square shaped column beside the path, megalithic blocks and small but clearly shaped building blocks. Some of these were heaped up into dilapidated walls that may have one been parts of structures or burial mounds and others that were simply laying in the wide streams we passed through, as though washed down from somewhere further ahead when the water had been much higher and left deposited in these shallows downstream. This interesting stone debris was later superseded in my mind by what appeared to be a very ancient paved road, in such ruin that it must have been many thousands of years old. This began about 10 km into our hike. I was left wondering who could have shaped and then moved such a massive quantity of stone in such an inaccessible area and then utilized sufficient engineering skills to construct kilometers of road. Most intriguing of all was why would they want to do so here in the middle of nowhere?

Square Base Megalithic column seen on route to the ruins.

We left the woodland behind and entered a gorge with steep cliffs on either side going vertically upwards to a height of about 100 meters. Here we were literally walking in a freezing cold river, mindful at every moment that a flash flood could suddenly wash us all away without any hope of escape. The water was full of large boulders, many big stones looked very clearly to have been shaped by human hands. At one point I saw something that seemed to be a skull design carved into the cliff wall just above us, though one would have to allow for thousands of years of water erosion to account for its current state. Clearly the basic form of a face was present.

Weathered skull feature noticed in canyon on route to ruins.

Finally we exited the river, with some relief. This feeling of relief was however short lived due to the fact we now had to head upwards on a steep and muddy mountain path for the next few hours. It was extremely grueling and the film crew and some of the others were struggling, I found myself glad that I was used to living in a low oxygen environment at over 3000 meters up in the Andes! As we traveled this path I again noted the remains of a paved road, blocks were sticking up through the mud or scattered about at the sides of the path. This obvious remnant of a civilization continued all the way to our destination 1800 meters above us on the mountain top.

    Ruined stone road.

Ruined stone road - blocks with perfectly round scoop marks and engraving.

Strange yellow concrete block observed on mountain path near ruins.

At last we reached our primary destination, a ruined structure up on a narrow ridge. I noted it had an East West alignment, suggesting potentially it might be a solar temple, though the ideal defensible position also left open the possibility of it being a fort. It was not large, only about 15 meters by 10 meters. The roof was gone and the walls largely collapsed, large old trees had grown over parts of the ruins. There was little to identify its original purpose. I did however note one strange symbol engraved skillfully into loose stone block. The symbol appeared to be rather like a tadpole. Funnily enough I know that our friends and co-authors of ‘Ancient Aliens In Australia’, Steven and Evan Strong, have reported seeing this symbol on an ancient star chart in NSW, Australia.

The target location, ancient ruin at 1800 meters altitude, suspected to be 2000 years old.

The crypt of giant bones as it is in 2014.

Just a few meters away from this ruin is the so-called crypt. To be fair it might be a cellar or something else entirely, nobody really knows the original use. The age of the ruins here are unknown, the best projections put it at around 1800 to 2200 years old. This speculative date is based on the type of cement used between blocks as it appears similar to Roman concrete, it may however be much older as no testing has yet been done. It is a fascinating mystery as to who built this and why, especially with it being so far from any recognizable significant settlement. All that can be said for sure is that the remains of giants seem to have ended up buried at the site and that this ruin needs full excavation and detailed forensic archaeological examination. If it is a structure built by an unknown or extinct type of hominid, a giant type, then this could be one of the most important sites in the world for that reason alone.

Despite all of this the really interesting finds were yet to come. I believe that they will rewrite Georgian history...and then all of human history with it. There was something up in those mountains far stranger than ancient ruined temples and the bones of 3 meter tall beings. You will be one of the first people to know about it when you read the next article.

Scientists May Have Cracked The Giant Siberian Crater Mystery — & The News Isn’t Good

    Before It's News)

A crater, discovered recently in the Yamal Peninsula, in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Russia. (AP Photo/Associated Press Television)

Researchers have long contended that the epicenter of global warming is also farthest from the reach of humanity. It’s in the barren landscapes of the frozen North, where red-cheeked children wear fur, the sun barely rises in the winter and temperatures can plunge to 122 degrees below zero. Such a place is the Yamal Peninsula in Siberia, translated as “the ends of the Earth,” a desolate spit of land where a group called the Nenets live.

By now, you’ve heard of the crater on the Yamal Peninsula. It’s the one that suddenly appeared, yawning nearly 200 feet in diameter, and made several rounds in the global viral media machine. The adjectives most often used to describe it: giant, mysterious, curious. Scientists were subsequently “baffled.” Locals were “mystified.” There were whispers that aliens were responsible. Nearby residents peddled theories of “bright flashes” and “celestial bodies.”

There’s now a substantiated theory about what created the crater. And the news isn’t so good.

It may be methane gas, released by the thawing of frozen ground. According to a recent Nature article, “air near the bottom of the crater contained unusually high concentrations of methane — up to 9.6% — in tests conducted at the site on 16 July, says Andrei Plekhanov, an archaeologist at the Scientific Centre of Arctic Studies in Salekhard, Russia. Plekhanov, who led an expedition to the crater, says that air normally contains just 0.000179% methane.”

The scientist said the methane release may be related to Yamal’s unusually hot summers in 2012 and 2013, which were warmer by an average of 5 degrees Celsius. “As temperatures rose, the researchers suggest, permafrost thawed and collapsed, releasing methane that had been trapped in the icy ground,” the report stated.

NASA also found the situation to be precarious. “The fragile and rapidly changing Arctic region is home to large reservoirs of methane, a potent greenhouse gas,” scientists wrote in 2012. It’s “vulnerable to being released into the atmosphere, where it can add to global warming.”

Now, as two additional craters have also recently been discovered in Siberia, researchers worry the craters may portend changes to local Siberian life. Two have appeared close to a large gas field. “If [a release] happens at the Bovanenkovskoye gas field that is only 30 kilometers away, it could lead to an accident, and the same if it happens in a village,” Russian scientist Plekhanov told Nature.

Alien Mug Shots: The Ten Best (or Worst) Photos of Aliens

    (Before It's News)

Photos of supposed UFOs abound. Most of the time they show dark stains or bright dots in the sky, of varying dimension and quality, which could be due to a lot of things: military aircrafts, weather balloons, birds, meteors, etc. Sometimes the UFO is well focused, but the flying saucer always looks suspiciously similar to a pan lid suspended from a thread or a lamp holder or a wheel cap thrown in the air. And of course today the possibilities for digitally retouching an image are endless.

What are lacking, however, are credible photos of the creatures that should be flying these UFOs—the actual aliens or extraterrestrials. It appears there are no more than fifty such photos shot in the past eighty years, but once you take out those plainly fake and the more suspicious looking ones all you are left with are about ten photos. These are, essentially, “mug shots” of wanted extraterrestrials. Here is my personal list of the best (or worst) photos of aliens.

    10

    10. High Bridge, New Jersey (August 2, 1956)

Howard Menger was a well-known American contactee who claimed he had met extraterrestrials throughout his whole life. He detailed in his books his chats with friendly Adamski-like Venusian “space brothers” who also gave him a wife and took him on their bases on the Moon and on Venus. This is one of the photos that he took of his ET friends; interestingly, in his photos the aliens are always dark shapes illuminated from behind. They almost look like Menger’s mother or wife coming out in the porch at night with a flashlight in hand, calling for that weird Howard, always lost in his UFO dreams.

    9

    9. Lossiemouth, Scotland (1954)

Cedric Allingham was an amateur ornithologist who was looking for birds in the North of Scotland when he saw a flying saucer descend to the earth. One of the occupants exited the spaceship and walked up to him. The alien told him he was coming from Mars and, after a little chat, left. Precisely in that moment, Cedric took this picture. Well, yes, the beanpole here looks more like a janitor or a plumber than an extraterrestrial. However, it was later suspected that Cedric Allingham never existed and that the photo was circulated by Patrick Moore, an astronomer well known for his pranks.

    8

    8. Carp, Ontario, Canada (August 15, 1991)

The photo of this alien “entity” was supposedly taken along with the film of a UFO landing. The fact that nobody knows who took the photo or the film, both sent by an unknown person calling him or herself “Guardian” to Tom Theofanous, a Canadian UFOlogist, does not help in taking the photo seriously. Other messages sent by “Guardian” describing a “conspiracy between the Chinese and Grey Aliens planning to take over the world” did little to increase its credibility.

    7

    7. Alaska (1930s)

This seems to be the most ancient of the lot, even if it was seen for the first time in 2003. The anonymous source claims that his grandfather took the picture seventy years before in Alaska and gave it to him the day before he died. Nothing is known about the photographer, the location, or the date of the photo. Some thought that since the little man seems to be leaning on one side it might actually be a dummy. What is more suspicious, however, is the fact that with the original source “conveniently” dead exactly one day after his revelation (isn’t that a little too trite?), all possibilities of verifying the story are defunct.

    6

    6. Falkville, Alabama (October 17, 1973)

That night, police chief Jeff Greenhaw received a phone call from an excited lady who said that she had witnessed a “spaceship” land in an open field not far from the town proper. The sheriff took off with a camera and found a “tinfoil alien” who consented to be photographed but then ran away. The ridicule that the whole story brought on the sheriff’s office cost Greenhaw his job as well as his wife. Some think that he may have encountered someone wearing a fireman’s asbestos suit; others, however, think that the being in the suit was a friend of Greenhaw and that the whole thing was an attempt to get famous that went terribly wrong.

    5

    5. Ilkley Moor, England (December 1, 1987)

Taken by ex-policeman Philip Spencer, the photo seems to show an alien examining the bleak moor. Too bad the picture is taken from so far away and is so out of focus it is devoid of any discernible detail. But wait, Spencer also has a story that he was later able to remember (thanks to regressive hypnosis) about him being abducted by the aliens, taken on a spaceship, brought to space, shown a couple of movies about the destruction of Earth, and then returned to the moor. Unfortunately, no photos of the spaceship or close-ups of the aliens were taken.

    4

    4. Wiesbaden, Germany (April, 1950)

This picture, undoubtedly one of the best, was found in 1977 among the documents made public by the FBI on request of the UFO Information Network. The photo seems to show an alien, with an odd breathing tube in its mouth, being escorted by two uniformed agents. Presumably the alien was captured alive after falling to the ground with his spaceship. A great photo! Too bad that in 1981 German journalist Klaus Webner discovered that it was actually an April Fool’s hoax made by photographer Hans Scheffler, who airbrushed an image of his five-year-old son Peter holding hands with two real soldiers. The photo had been published in the German newspaper Wiesbadener Tagblatt on April 1, 1950, and was later revealed to be a joke.

    3

    3. Cologne, Germany (April 1, 1950)

This is even better, but the day on which it was taken clearly gives away its true origin. Published by German photo magazine Neue Illustrierte, it was a crude photomontage part of a page devoted to the Aztec Saucer Crash hoax of 1948, the same episode (Roswell was still not popular back then) that inspired the Wiesbaden hoax. Incredibly, some uninformed UFOlogists still take both pictures as real proof of aliens.

    2

    2. South of Laredo, TX (July 7, 1948)

This one, purportedly showing the remains of a large headed alien (known among UFO buffs as “Tomato Man”), has often been shown as proof that aliens actually crashed with their UFOs on Earth. A more careful examination, however, reveals that the picture displays the remains of a human pilot perished in a plane crash. The human nature of the body is clearly revealed by the frames of a pair of eyeglasses near the right shoulder, while the earthly origin of the vehicle is shown by a close scrutiny of the structural remains: conductor cables, a six-sided hex nut, tubular piping, angle iron, and many welded areas all look man-made, and the welds conform to standard procedures of the time.

    1

    1. Solway Firth, England (May 24, 1964)

This is probably the most intriguing photo of them all. Jim Templeton, a retired fireman, was taking pictures of his daughter on the Solway Marshes in Cumbria, north of England, but when he had them developed he found that behind the girl was a big, tall fellow in what looked like a white “spaceman” suit. He was quite sure that there was no one there when he took the photo. The case quickly became an international affair and so far no one has been able to explain the photo. Templeton, who later said he received a visit from two “men in black” who claimed to be from the government, was also known for his practical jokes. Could the photo be one of those jokes? Or maybe someone in the processing lab, knowing Jim’s penchant for tricks, decided to tamper with the film and play one on him? But then, perhaps because the image immediately received world-wide fame and Templeton’s daughter was bullied and had to be taken out of school for a while, it became embarrassing for Jim or anybody else to confess the hoax? We don’t know and will never know now that Jim Templeton is dead. There are many other instances, however, in which phenomena that started as jokes quickly got out of hand: think of the Fox sisters tricking their parents with an apple bumped on the floor and inadvertently starting Spiritualism, or the two little girls in Cottingley who photographed “fairies” (that were thought to be real by none other than Sir Arthur Conan Doyle) and waited sixty years before confessing. Maybe things went the same way with the Solway Spaceman. It would have been typical. A typical case of UFOolery.
