Dit is ons nieuw hondje Kira, een kruising van een waterhond en een Podenko. Ze is sinds 7 februari 2024 bij ons en druk bezig ons hart te veroveren. Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.
This is our new dog Kira, a cross between a water dog and a Podenko. She has been with us since February 7, 2024 and is busy winning our hearts. She is a sweet, affectionate dog who quickly adapted to us within a week. She is very quick and curious, a very different dog than Noleke.

The idea that Mars was once the home of an ancient civilization is, of course controversial and NASA and most mainstream scientists won’t even consider the notion with any degree of seriousness.
Yet there are many very interesting photos that show structures that do not look natural like the building-like structures captured by Curiosity.
Now, in the follow-up series of images taken in the same area as the building-like structures we see some interesting objects what looks like ancient tools that have been used to build structures.
Could these objects be optical illusions of natural geological formations? Of course. But to dismiss them outright as not possibly being artificial in origin is just as unscientific as declaring that they absolutely are created by intelligent being.

C. Lee zegt dat haar bewijs zelfs niet kan worden genegeerd door sceptici. Bijna iedere dag maakt ze vanuit haar achtertuin opnames. Na het vertragen van de beelden worden volgens haar verborgen UFO’s zichtbaar. “Ze verdwijnen achter een laag die ze hebben gecreëerd met energie,” zei Lee. “Vervolgens komen ze achter die laag vandaan.”
Lee heeft de zesdelige documentaire gemaakt om te bewijzen dat we niet alleen zijn, meldt de Australische zender Seven News. In de film wordt gesteld dat de aarde wordt bezocht door buitenaardse wezens.
De documentairemaakster zegt ook beelden te hebben van een buitenaards wezen dat over haar huis vloog. “Het heeft ogen, het heeft een hoofd, het heeft armen en vliegt op een zilveren schijf,” legde Lee uit. Ze vermoedt dat het een Wandjina is geweest, een geest uit de mythologie van de Aboriginals.
“Ik zal pas overtuigd zijn als een vliegende schotel landt op het Victoriaplein [in Adelaide],” zei Laurie Eddie van Australian Skeptics.
Het is zo’n onderwerp dat meestal lacherig wordt besproken en vaker nog belachelijk wordt gemaakt: het bestaan van UFO’s. Vliegende schotels. Maar de afgelopen jaren zijn er alleen al in Nederland zes meldingen geweest van de luchtverkeerleiding en van piloten die een object hebben gezien waarvan ze niet weten wat het is. Aart Zeeman over de vraag of we al jaren worden bezocht door buitenaardsen of dat het gewoon een onbegrepen aards fenomeenis.

These huge concrete rings were built by the Germans during World War II on the coast of the Barents Sea.
For decades, the Soviet military limited access to them after the war was over, fuelling speculation about their purpose. Conspiracy theorists and local folk claimed they were test grounds for Nazi wonderweapons and antigravity devices.
These rings, some said, served as launching pads for Nazi UFOs, flying saucers that used antigravity devices that were later captured by the United States and the Soviet Union. Of course, these aircraft were never used again except to spook the conspiranoics and break their cameras.
No images of these fabledwunderwaffe exist and, given the fact that Nazis documented all their technology experiments with photos and movies (didn’t you see Raiders of the Lost Ark?) it is logical to assume that these UFOs have the power of destroying any cameras around them.
Other people claim that one of these awesome devices was The Bell, a metallic bell-shaped object that was being developed by the Nazis in Poland.
The machine was so powerful that the project ended with the killing and mass burial of about 60 scientists working on it because, apparently, it makes sense to kill 60 scientists capable of building these machines instead of putting them to work in, say, a bloody nuclear bomb.
Die Glocke, as it was codenamed by the Nazis, was a hard metal object about 4m to 5m tall and 3m in diameter.
Described by a Polish journalist and self-proclaimed military historian based on the alleged testimony of that SS general, the Bell held two counter-rotating 2.5cm thick lead cylinders inside.
The cylinders contained a liquid metal called Xerum 525. It looked like mercury but glowed purple while the machine was powered up using high amounts of electricity.
Once activated, nobody really actually explains what it did, except killing people and animals around it, disintegrating them. Some even say it was designed to look into the past, bending gravity and time, but not into the future.
Of course, the only thing that actually bend reality are the neurons of all these conspiranoics.
These are not launching pads for UFOs. The concrete rings are located near the village of Liinakhamari, in the region of Murmansk Oblast, Russia, next to Finland, and were used as fortifications for artillery pieces.
Soviet marines invaded the area and took over these positions on 12 October 1944. The harbour became a base for the Red Fleet and a base for submarines was built nearby, which explains the prohibited nature of the site for decades, until the base was dismantled.

Two young men, Vincent L, and John, were on a camping trip and were suddenly awakened by noises, close to their tent. Fearing the possibility of a scavenging bear, they went outside, flashlights in hand and noticed back in the woods what they thought at first was a large Airstream trailer. Jo…hn headed into the woods to get a closer look. He had gone barely a few yards when he realized that this was no ordinary camper trailer, it had as smooth, irregular shape, a mast at one end with some kind of spinning unit mounted to it, but most surprising of all, its entire surface appeared to be faintly luminous. Vincent, who was walking behind him, had the same startled reaction at the same time, they tramped back to their shelter and sat down, trying to convince one another that it could not be what they thought it was. “There is no such thing,” John said, “There’s no such thing.” He was holding the flashlight, which had not been turned off, and in an idle swing to his left, illuminated a figure standing in the woods. The figure, which appeared to be looking at them, was tall and simple in outline, with two large dark “eyes” and a series of diagonal slashes or stripes on one cheek being the only interruptions in the clear un-detailed shape. Its surface was also faintly luminous. Thoroughly frightened, John swung the flashlight beam around and picked up three more of the creatures, one of which was apparently in a tree. They were absolutely silent and identical except that the number of “cheek stripes” varied. For moments John and Vincent believed these figures were some sort of apparition created by slide projectors, or something like it. It was only when the creatures approached to within 15 feet that they realized they were “more dimensions” than a mere flat, projected illusion would be. A state of siege ensued. The figures approached and withdrew, approached and withdrew. They moved with incredible ease when one considered the dense undergrowth in the woods. No arms or legs could be discerned within their closed silhouettes, and most mysterious of all, each time the flashlight beam fell upon one of the figures it would stop, remaining immobile until the beam was removed. One three striped figure which hovered towards the back of the group seemed to control the others, when the light beam fell upon it; all the others were simultaneously immobilized. The two campers were convinced they were going to be kidnapped. Later, when Vincent recounted the nightmarish experience, he said, “I really thought I was going to die there.” Brandishing axes, they built up their campfire, realizing that in light and fire they had their only defensive weapon. Their car was parked nearby, perhaps 100 feet away, in a cement parking lot that serviced the picnic area, but both men were too afraid to leave the campfire to make a break for it. Four Duroflame logs had swollen the flames to dramatic proportions and after a short while the mysterious figures withdrew. John and Vincent had noticed earlier that one of the creatures, way over to their left, had been slowly approaching them accompanied by an apparently hovering flat object that John described as looking like a small wheel-less covered wagon, perhaps 30 inches wide by six feet long. It had several hoops running up across its width, and these hoops supported what looked like a transparent, plexi-glass type of cover. All of these descriptions both men insist are as accurate as they can remember, though they underline the fact that they were totally petrified during the encounter. John and Vincent had transformed the various picnic tables and benches around them into a “kind of Alamo” in front of their tent. When the creatures withdrew back into the woods, Vincent threw their possessions into the tent, cut the ropes, and raced down to the car to start the engine. John remained under the picnic shelter at the fireside and prepared to photograph the creatures which had at this moment begun to return. Before he had raised the camera to his eye, Vincent shouted for him to put it down—“They’ll think it’s a weapon”—and John complied. Everything was now in the car and they were ready to flee. John dumped some water on the stack of flaming logs, the fire sputtered out, and at that moment the figures rushed towards the campsite. John went down the stairs “six at a time” to the parking lot below, but there was a problem with car’s engine. Vincent recalls that at first the motor almost died, then surged forward, “the wheels leaving rubber,” but John remembers “the battery going dead” and the car starting immediately. Moments later, John and Vincent raced out of the park, heading for home in a state approaching abject terror. John recalls a stretch of road marked by small, metal enclosed glass reflectors down the center strip. The moment their headlights picked up the row of glowing spots both men nearly cried out in panic, assuming that their luminous tormentors were still with them. Several days later Vincent found several diagonal abrasions above one another on his back (found by his fiancé) which straddled his lower spine. The faint scar marks persist to this day. John’s case was even stranger. He noticed some days after the event a small “burning” mark near his navel. It slowly expanded downwards towards the groin, and was consistently painful, as the weeks passed two other similar marks developed in the same region. Eventually he consulted his doctor but without mentioning the incident at the campsite. By April 6 months after the encounter, the condition was sufficiently disturbing for the doctor to send John to the hospital for tests. However nothing was ever found to be the cause of the disturbing marks. John was released after 7 days and pronounced perfectly healthy. According to John following his encounter he experienced occasional episodes of absolute clairvoyance.

As Inacio De Souza, 41, and his wife Maria were approaching their home at Santa Maria; they saw three figures “playing about” on the landing strip of the owner of the Fazenda. The beings were as tall as young children, had no hair and were wearing skin-tight clothing of pale yellow. At the en…d of the landing strip was an object having the shape of an inverted washbasin. De Souza, carrying a .44 caliber carbine, fired a shot at the nearest person. Just then a beam of green light was emitted from the UFO and struck De Souza on the head and shoulders; he fell unconscious. The three entities entered the object, which then took off vertically at high speed, with a sound like the humming of bees. De Souza not only incurred a circular burned patch 6” in diameter but also upon examination by a physician was found to have leukemia of which he died in less than two months.

Independent witnesses encountered what was described as a fearsome winged gargoyle-like creature that at one time was seen perched on a tree and was later seen perched on a roof of a house. It had huge gray wings and was able to glide silently without flapping its wings. It was taller than …a man and had a very wide upper torso. It also has a 15 ft wingspan and dwarfed a nearby eucalyptus tree as it flew over it. Around the same time another Oakland man—this time a janitor named Minelli—claimed he saw a strange winged creature as he was taking out the garbage one evening. He had looked up and seen the frightful entity perched on the corner of the roof, looking down at him “like some fearsome gargoyle.” Minelli described the thing as being much taller than a man and very broad across its upper torso. “It was such an impossibly monstrous thing,” he said. “I was afraid to say anything about it because everybody would think I was crazy…it must have been a bird, unless it was the Devil himself.”

The anonymous witness whilst walking home on a road through the sugar cane fields, abruptly stopped by the side of the road by an unfinished air strip and turned to his left and there stood a huge red colored winged creature with glowing blond curly hair and what seemed to be a halo effect surrounding his head. …The sugarcane at the time had been left uncut for many years and stood about 16 ft tall. The “angel” was about 12 ft tall and the most beautiful creature that he had ever seen, the being appeared to have an additional set of ribs that were below his normal ribs unlike a human being, at waist level his legs were fur like and it stood upon hooves instead of feet. They stood about 60 ft apart and just looked at each other for about 5minutes. The being exuded a very bright light from its body and his head, which gave a halo effect. The witness thrust his hand towards the being as a gesture of contact and at this point heard a message of a religious nature and of future warning for humanity, all in his mind. After the message the “Red Angel” turned and his wings unfurled and trailed behind his body as he returned back into the sugar cane. The witness continued to walk towards home. About 150 yards further up the road the “Red Angel” appeared again standing amongst the cane. The witness turned and faced him again, this time standing about 30 ft away, the being’s face, although white was glistening black as if in shadow. Soon the bizarre humanoid disappeared into the sugarcane field again.

He stumbled over a low garden fence and then saw coming over some nearby treetops a huge man like figure with a 9 to 10 ft wingspan, it had a large ugly head, leathery skin, glowing eyes…; a long neck and a “turtle” like face. It glided silently towards the witness then suddenly veered off towards the woods disappearing from sight.

During a school outing-picnic, teacher Federico V was preparing lunch, when he suddenly noticed a strange figure standing behind some nearby bushes. He described the figure as short, & strongly built. Only the area from the waist up was visible, because of the foliage. On its… head it wore a gray metallic helmet, similar to those worn by “Roman soldiers.” On the helmet were a number of “spike like” metallic protrusions, about 4-5 cm in length. Where the eyes would have been, were two round holes, no nose or mouth was visible. The helmet was connected to a gray colored coverall resembling an asbestos suit. Another witness, Aldo, now arrived and attempted to use a camera. At that point the figure made a strange gesture with its hands, making a peculiar “writing” motion with one hand on the palm of the other. The witness then felt lightheaded and if he was rising from the ground. Scared he was not able to take any photos, when he regained his composure the strange figure was gone. Moments later the witnesses heard a whistling sound coming from the sky. Looking up they saw a disc-shaped object disappearing at great speed towards the northeast.

Ook oud-gouverneur van Minnesota Jesse Ventura acht het mogelijk dat de Amerikaanse overheid HAARP gebruikt om het weer te manipuleren en mensen te bombarderen met radiogolven om ze te hersenspoelen.

HAARP is een militair en civiel onderzoeksinstituut bij Garkona in Alaska, dat onderzoek doet naar de ionosfeer. In verschillende andere landen staan soortgelijke installaties, waaronder Noorwegen en Rusland.
Er is een vergunning gegeven om in totaal 180 antennes op de locatie te mogen zetten. Samen fungeren de antenne’s als één grote antenne, die de energie van het antenneveld in de ionosfeer injecteert.

U.S. Air Force security officer Jim Carter was hiking in the mountains when he saw a light on the hill and went up to investigate and saw two individuals standing there. They called him by name and said, “How nice of you to come”. As if they were waiting for him. Down the hill Jim could see a lighted disk on the ground. He said he must have been there f…or about 5 minutes. Jim studied the two beings closely. “They seemed young and very thin.” He said. “They were about 5 feet 6 inches tall, I would say. Their tight fitting clothing was like a flight suit. I noticed it changed color from brown to silver.” Jim said they were very fair, with large eyes. “They looked perfectly normal and relaxed. They had blond hair with something over the head, but I could see some hair.” Their facial features were fine and the thing that impressed him the most was their eyes which were very large and striking. Jim added, “They seemed completely sure of themselves. They handled the situation very well. Nothing happened that was phenomenal. They didn’t give me any earth shattering information. I guess I had some illusion that they might give me a cure for cancer or something like that because they seemed very intelligent.” The beings said they would come back and talk again someday. Jim didn’t say goodbye he just knew it was time to go. The visitors had spoken in ordinary English and didn’t seem to use telepathy, which is often reported in similar cases. They didn’t tell Jim where they came from but he felt they were from a distant world and came in peace. Both visitors went back into the craft that was resting on the ground. There may have been someone else waiting for them within the vehicle. The lighted disk rose from the ground and shot up into the night sky leaving Jim alone with his thoughts. He tried to tell his family and others what happened but most everybody didn’t believe him.
Do UFO’s Exist? Do You Believe In UFO’s And Aliens? The Truth Is Out There
I set around all the time and wonder do UFO’s exist or do they not? Do aliens exist or do they not?
I truly believe that a space craft from another world was what crashed at Roswell New Mexico. I have never believed anything else. I think that the U.S. Government has lied and covered up the fact that a real space craft crashed at Roswell and that alien bodies were recovered by our government. I think that the U.S. Presidents since the event occured have continued to cover up the fact that a space craft crashed and that alien bodies were recovered.
It would be stupid to think that we are the only planet in the vast universe where intelligent life occured. No I think there are many other planets right here in our universe where intelligent life exists. And I think there are planets out there where the life forms living on them are vastly more intelligent than here on earth.
Have you ever just stood out there in the back yard and looked straight up. Think about all those stars that you can see up there. I think that there are life forms out there living on those planets and that they are far smarter than we are.

Have You Ever Saw A UFO?
At several points in my life I have seen alien spacecraft that I am sure were not from this earth. I have a military background and I am sure that what I was seeing was not some type of new US government airplanes.
Just south of Charleston South Carolina is Folly Beach South Carolina. It is a barrier island with miles of public beach and at the end of Folly Beach on the Charleston Harbor side once stood Fort Wagner where some of the worst fighting in the Civil War happened. Almost all of the Unions 54th Massachusetts were killed there in the assault on Fort Wagner that stood at that time on Morris Island. The ocean has slowly reclaimed Morris Island over the many years since the Civil War and there is now nothing left of Morris Island except the old lighthouse.
When I lived at Folly Beach in the late 1990's the end of Folly Beach on the Charleston Harbor side was one of mine and my friends favorite fishing spots. We went there a lot for night fishing and really enjoyed the solitude and quite of that end of the barrier island. One night in the late spring of 1999 I and my friend were out at the end of the island fishing when we had several events happen that we would not soon forget.
Just after midnight my friend pointed out what looked like red and blue lights out in Charleston Harbor under the water. We watched those lights and tried to figure out what we were seeing but we just couldn't make out anything but the lights. About thirty minutes later we watched amazed as a round disc shaped object about 75 feet across came up out of the water and went right up in the air over us. It hovered there for just a minute or two and then it flew away at a great rate of speed out to sea. I and my friend were shocked by what we had seen and my friend asked me if I had heard the water pouring off of it to. I had and I told him so.
Just a few minutes later we saw three more of the craft come out of the water and disappear out to sea. All were disc shaped with red and blue lights and when they would come up out of the water you could hear the water run off them and fall back into the ocean. The first craft had hovered up in the air over us but the other three craft flew straight out to sea. We were both amazed at what we had seen and we wished we had a camera but we did not. About 40 minutes later about a half mile out to sea we watched as three craft appeared out of no where and just appeared to fly down and go back under the water. Stunned is not even the word for how we felt about what we had just seen.
Fishing was over at that point and we reeled in our rods and walked back to our car. The next night and several nights after that we were back out there with a camera but we never saw the crafts again. Several people we knew who lived at Folly Beach told us that they had seen the same thing several times over the years. But neither I or my friend ever saw them again.
What they were and where had they came from has always puzzled me. I don't believe they were any type of experimental US aircraft. I think they were UFO's and I don't think they were of this earth.

As early as July 1 1947 a strange object that moves at a great rate of speed is spotted on military radar in the vicinity of Roswell New Mexico. If it was a weather balloon why did the military not know it.
On July 3 the military knows the UFO is still around and that it appears to be searching the Roswell area. It moves at a great speed and people describe it as a round large disc. Many local Roswell people see it flying around the area and they know it is not a weather balloon. A radar operator is sent to White Sands to keep a eye on the radar there and see what the UFO does. Surely the US Military knew the difference between a weather balloon and a UFO that locals said flew around the Roswell area for at least four days appearing like it was searching for something.
Then on July 4th 1947 a bright flaming object is seen to fall to the ground near Roswell New Mexico. It has always been my belief that the US Military had finally after four days of trying been able to shoot down the UFO.
On July 5th the object is found by several different people and it is reported as a round disc shaped object that appears to be some type of aircraft. No one reports it as a weather balloon or any type of balloon. They report it as a round disc shaped object.We have all seen the headline of the Roswell newspaper above.
But then the military moves in and takes over. People are ordered off the site and the US Army moves in to make sure no one goes near the crash site. And here the story gets even more interesting. The local Roswell Funeral Home owner Glenn Dennis is contacted and asked many questions about how to preserve bodies and how to treat bodies that have been exposed to the sun. He is also asked for his supply of small caskets. Then a day or two later Glenn Dennis is told he better be quite about what he knows or he will be arrested. It is two US Army officers who go to see him at the Roswell Funeral Home and tell him this.
It appears that not only did the US Government recover a crashed or shot down UFO but they also recovered alien bodies that were small. I really believe that all the evidence is out there but that the US Government has covered it up all these years.

Residents in Highgate, a North London suburb, have been reporting loud noises that sound like explosions. Authorities have not been able to determine the source of the explosions, but a poll by the Ham & High newspaper shows that residents believe the noises are either due to a faulty electrical substation or UFOs.
Highgate is a swanky part of London and home to many celebrities. It is not the type of place you would expect to be making news about anomalous phenomena. However, the noises have been reported for 18 months, and although many possible sources have been investigated, there is still no answer to where they come from.

A recent incident took place Monday night at about 10 pm. One witness, Will Wheatcroft, told Ham & High that he was sitting on the sofa with his fiancée when he heard a “very loud explosion.” He said, “Really it sounded like a car bomb or a gas explosion. It made us turn around and say, ‘What the hell was that?’ I expected to hear sirens a few minutes afterwards, but there weren’t any.”

Some residents have even reported that their houses shook, or that they also saw large flashes of light.
Carrie Kilpatrick, a TV producer who is investigating the noises says she has heard them as well. “It’s just so mysterious. Sometimes it’s more than once a week and then you don’t hear it for a while,” she said. “Friday night seems to be most popular. It can be at any time between 10 pm and midnight.”

The latest reported explosion was Tuesday night. One report could be found on twitter, and a couple also reported it to the police.
Highgate is in the borough of Haringey, and the Haringey council is now advising residents to no longer contact the police with their reports, but to alert the council’s noise team.
Thus far the authorities have ruled out gas explosions and the local electrical substation as possible sources of the noises. They also have not found the noises to be linked to thunder or lightening. They have ruled out sounds from repair work being done on the sewers, and there has been no explosive work being done at the Highgate Underground station.

Sonic booms were suspected, but the Department of Transportation has said sonic booms would be heard across a much larger area. One council member suggested it could be kids with fireworks in the forest, but the noise team has yet to come up with a definitive answer.

Residents, however, have their own ideas. Ham & High ran a poll to find out what their reader’s think might be causing the loud noises. It included gas explosions, cars backfiring, children playing with bangers (noise makers), sonic booms, weather phenomenon, fireworks, UFOs, a faulty substation, basement or building works, bomb, or other.
Survey says? Most residents voted for UFOs or a faulty substation. They both came in at 18%. Next were basement or building works, sonic booms, or a bomb, all at 12%. Everything else came in at less than 10%.
So are UFOs to blame for the mysterious explosions? Of the top to vote getters, a faulty substation has already been ruled out by authorities, but not UFOs. Hopefully the Haringey council’s noise team will discover the true origins of the sounds so they can put a stop to them, because if the sounds are due to trouble-making extraterrestrials, we might not be able to do anything about it. That would be tantamount to galactic bullying. Not cool, aliens.

Er is op dit moment veel aandacht voor megalieten die zouden zijn gevonden in de Bergachtige Sjor in Zuid-Siberië. Mogelijk gaat het om de grootste stenen monumenten ter wereld. De ontdekking werd het eerst gemeld door amateuronderzoeker John Jensen, die eerder ongewone formaties aantrof voor de oostkust van de Verenigde Staten.
Jensen stuitte op foto’s die waren gemaakt door een team dat de megalieten had onderzocht. De afbeeldingen verschenen op diverse Russische websites, waaronder die van Valeri Oevarov, een Russische schrijver die geïnteresseerd is in de Egyptische piramides.
De ontdekking is verder uitgewerkt op Academia.edu, een sociaalnetwerksite voor academici. De megalieten zijn mogelijk groter dan de stenen van Baalbek in Libanon. This has been more or less the question that many have asked since History Channel broadcasted a documentary about an old Japanese legend, displaying certain ancient drawings to the public that many did not hesitate to associate with an artistic depiction of a UFO. Or rather, the commonly held notions of the “rounded” shape of the unidentified object in question.
The story first became known in Japan well into the 19th century through two books that were compilations of various curious events and fictional items based on the Japanese folklore of the time: the “Toen Shosetsu” and the “Ume no Chiri” published in 1825 and 1844, respectively. Both works included the same story, more or less, under the same title: “Foreign Woman in a Hollow Boat”. The story goes that on 22 February 1803, the residents of a Japanese village (Modern Ibaragi) saw a strange vessel floating in the sea and slowly approaching the shore. When some fishermen set out on their craft to meet it, and then towed to the beach, they found within it a young woman – some 20 years old – of unusual physiognomy, with pink skin and long red hair, who spoke to them in an unknown language as she clung to a wooden box. An object of considerable importance to her, it seemed, as she would allow no one to touch it. The craft, also unknown to the locals, was round and rather small, measuring some 5.5 meters across and some 3 meters tall. Its upper section was black and had colored glasswindows covered with grating, forming four windows whose edges were protected by some sort of tar. The lower part was reinforced with iron sheets and its interior was covered
By César Reyes de Roa (c)2009 This, then, is what the aforementioned texts say on the matter. The image depicted above shows an old illustration from those same texts, which, according to some, represent the spacecraft, found adrift by the uninformed Japanese witnesses in 1803.
In Context
Utsuro Bune (or Utsuro Fune) literally means ‘hollow boat’ in Japanese – not a bad description to convey what the villagers saw floating toward them, a small vessel like a rice bowl. but was it really the “strange craft” in of itself, or the young red-haired foreigner that caused a sensation worthy of inclusion in the compilations of oddities at the time?
True or not, the fact is that the story told in the 1825 and 1844 Japanese books corresponds to the Tokugawa period (1603-1867) when Japan was isolated from the rest of the world, living in a wholly feudal society (the shogunate) and avoiding all foreign influences. especially western. It isn’t surprising then that the presence of “someone who came from afar” (a foreigner) would be cause for conversation…whether for or against Japanese isolationism.
Some very likely interpretations about the red-haired woman’s identity have been put forth, and perhaps those who suggest paying attention be given to ancient Russian customs — dealing with unfaithful wives – are correct. The harsh law unwritten law mandated decapitation for the male, his head placed in a box that was later given to the woman, who was then expelled from the community by placing her aboard a small boat, towed out to sea, and then abandoned to her fate.
The proximity between Russia and Japan fosters this hypothesis. Much better, of course, than any passing idea that suggests relating the red-haired woman in the “hollow boat” with visitors from another world.
Utsuro Bune
Moreover, what is there in the vessel’s description that leads to any connection between the advanced technologies that one would suppose of a UFO, if these indeed come from distant worlds?
Nothing. Nothing at all.
The only argument – unsustainable per se – that has been repeated blissfully and unabashedly by the supporters of this free association of UtusroBune = UFO is based on the rounded shape visible in the ancient drawings. Nothing more. A consideration that would be equally convincing to these supporters of easy explanations if they were to see an old illustration of the Thung Chai, a traditional round vessel measuring 2 meters across, made of bamboo and covered in pitch, used by Vietnamese fishermen to this very day.
Under no circumstances does one conjure up a hypothesis by merely spewing out the first thought that comes to one’s head. Any judgment made without examination is pure fancy, a pure fancy that leads nowhere. The same applies to many wild stories that turn research into possibly alien visitation to our world into a marginal affair, deemed unsavory by the majority of the scientific community.
Having said this, let us now put the “Utsuro Bune = UFO” into perspective, with its colored glasswindows and tar waterproofing, and its lower section reinforced with steel plates, not forgetting the soft mat within it. Let us imagine it for a moment as an instrument capable of the most daring space exploit by an exotic, technologically advanced civilization. We may well laugh out loud, thinking it’s a prank.
There is a well-know anecdote about Sigmund Freud, the Austrian physician and neurologist, who entered a room in which he would lecture on phallic symbols, all the while smoking a cigar. This prompted a sharp remark from a young and eager student. The reply given by the father of psychoanalysis was as simple as it was final: “Sometimes a cigar is only a cigar.”
Likewise, sometimes a ‘hollow boat’ is only a ‘hollow boat’.

On April 9, NASA announced that a flying saucer will be seen in Hawaii during the summer of 2014. But this flying saucer belongs to NASA.

NASA’s Low-Density Supersonic Decelerator (LDSD) project is designing and testing new technology to land large payloads on the surface of planetary bodies with atmospheres, like Mars. A test-flight of the rocket-powered, saucer-shaped spacecraft is scheduled to launch into near-space in June from the U.S. Navy’s Pacific Missile Range Facility on Kauai, Hawaii.
NASA describes, “The LDSD is one of several crosscutting technologies NASA’s Space Technology Mission Directorate is developing to create the new knowledge and capabilities necessary to enable our future missions to an asteroid, Mars and beyond.” New Scientist explains that NASA’s inflatable technology is intended to help slow down space vehicles after entering the thin Martian atmosphere at supersonic speeds.
In previous articles that I have written about Roswell New Mexico, I have mentioned a few things Roswell and the State of New Mexico are known for that are not affiliated with the 1947 UFO crash near town, which of course is what Roswell is known for world wide.
Since I started doing the Roswell UFO tours and became certified by the State of New Mexico and licensed by the city of Roswell, I have to admit that I have become more educated about this town I live in and its varied history, which for me as a tour guide not only has been educational, but has given me the opportunity to share that information with the visitors I take on tour. Most appreciate the fact that I share a lot more about Roswell then just the UFO Incident, since the UFO Incident is normally why they book the tours in the first place.
When driving in to Roswell from any direction you see a sign stating, “Welcome to the Dairy Capital of Southeast New Mexico,” not welcome to the “UFO Capital of the World.” The reason for the sign always shocks people when I tell them that Roswell has the largest cheese manufacturing plant of domestic mozzarella cheese in the nation, and perhaps the world. Leprino Foods owns the plant and employs some 575 workers. The plant is currently undertaking a one-million dollar expansion in Roswell. Occasionally, depending on wind direction, the dairy industry that furnishes vast amounts of milk to the plant is evident in the air. Dairy men claim “that’s the smell of money in the air.”
New Mexico didn’t become a State until 1912, although the city of Roswell was founded in the 1800’s, so there have been two state flags during it’s history. The original flag designed by New Mexico historian Ralph Emerson Twitchell, featured a design quite different from the current flag. In 1920 the Daughters of the American Revolution suggested a new design more representative of the unique character of New Mexico. The new design featured an interpretation of an ancient symbol of the sun as found on a late 19th century water jar from the Zia Pueblo. The red symbol is called a “Zia,” and is centered on a field of yellow. The number four is a sacred number for the Zia, and is repeated in the four points radiating from the circle. The four points represent the four seasons; the four points of a compass; and the 24 hours of a day by sunrise, noon, evening and night. The Zia also represents that with life came four sacred obligations: development of a strong body, a clear mind, a pure spirit, and devotion to the welfare of people/ family. All these things are bound together within the circle of life on the New Mexico State flag.
The New Mexico State song, “O, Fair New Mexico,” is also unique in that it was written by Elizabeth Garrett (left), born in 1885. If that last name sounds familiar, it’s because Elizabeth was the daughter of former Lincoln County Sheriff, Pat Garrett, best known for allegedly killing out law, Billy the Kid. Elizabeth lost her eyesight a few hours after birth due to an over-application of “blue vitrol” to her eyes to prevent infection. She received her education and basic training at the Texas School for the Blind in Austin, Texas. She became a voice and piano teacher, performing in respected Chicago and New York theaters, and was persuaded to sing her composition, “O, Fair New Mexico,” for the State Legislature. The song was unanimously adopted by the Legislature as the state song March 14, 1917.
Iron Cross on Spring River’s north bank
During World War II, a prisoner of war camp was established by the War Department near Orchard Park, southeast of Roswell, which housed some 4800 German prisoners of war. On January 1, 1943, the first prisoners there were from the “Afrikacorps,” Rommel’s men from the 8th Army. From 1943 to 1946, during the incarceration of these POW’s, the men worked as field hands on the many farms in Chaves County, as well as in the Artesia and Mayhill areas. In 1943, a 50-man detail worked on a flood control project in Roswell by riprapping or laying rocks on the Spring River banks. On the north bank between Pennsylvania and Kentucky Avenues the POW’s used different size rocks to make an “Iron Cross” on the bank. Some Roswell citizens were incensed by this and poured five yards of concrete over the POW’s handiwork. The concrete washed away over the years, and the iron cross is again clearly visible from this point.

Another piece of world history that the city of Roswell has on display near the Iron Cross mentioned above, is a small section of the Berlin wall, that many may remember President Reagan’s telling Russian Leader Mikhail Gorbachev, “ tear down this wall,” when Reagan was in Berlin, Germany making a speech. This section of the Berlin wall was a gift from the German Luftwaffe (the German Air Force), to the city of Roswell for the hospitality and goodwill it experienced during military maneuvers. Shown on this piece of the wall is the western side (the Democratic side), which has graffiti.
The Historical Museum of Southeast New Mexico has acquired a piece of a steel I- beam or column (above) from one of the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, when the tragedy occurred September 11, 2001. Understandably, very little information is available pertaining to what specific area of which tower is represented by the piece on display in the Archives building adjacent to the museum. The acquisition of the steel was coordinated through Senator Jeff Bingaman’s office, which advised the Historical Society to contact New York City Deputy Mayor, Tom Curitore in a letter dated September 19, 2002.
Was the double landing of UFOs at New Berlin, NY a repair mission – or something else? A woman steps out onto her porch on a cool autumn night in 1964. Looking up, she sees what appears to be a shooting star fall onto a hillside opposite her, 2/3 of a mile away. Strangely, she sees another “falling light” which she watches descend from the sky in a vertical manner, but then it stops before it reaches the ground. It then starts to move horizontally along and above a creek bed that runs parallel to her road. As it comes closer, it becomes “intensely bright” and starts to emit a “low humming noise.” Calling out for her mother-in-law to come outside, the woman (Mrs. H) steps out into her driveway to have a closer look. Right at that moment, two cars coming up the road pass by with the second one slowing down and pulling off the road to get a better look at the strange object. The UFO then starts to approach the car which pulls back onto the road and speeds away. But now the UFO shifts ever so slightly and comes DIRECTLY towards Mrs. H. As she runs back towards her house, her mother-in-law comes out onto the porch, takes one look at the strange object and runs back inside. From inside the house she pleads with Mrs. H to return to the house and forget about the UFO. But Mrs. H ignores her and stands transfixed, watching the strange object as yet another car approaches. Incredibly, the UFO starts to pace the approaching car as soon as it gets directly across from Mrs. H’s house. Obviously frightened, the car rapidly speeds up to escape it. Finally the object moves away in a northerly direction and comes to rest in a field across the road, approximately 3800 feet away. Now inside the house, Mrs. H and her mother-in-law focus a pair of high powered binoculars on the area where the UFO has landed. They can clearly see a “round structure”, sitting on what seem to be landing struts. The underneath of the structure is illuminated by some kind of very bright light and in that light they see something else even more stunning; FIVE OR SIX FIGURES CARRYING BOXES AND WHAT LOOK TO BE SOME KIND OF STRANGE TOOLS. As Mrs. H looks on through the binoculars, the men use the “strange hand held tools to extract a large contraption out of the UFO.” Then suddenly her mother-in-law utters a sharp cry and directs Mrs. H’s attention to the Northeast. There, descending quickly from the night sky is ANOTHER light which comes to rest on the hillside right behind the first UFO. Both Mrs. H and her mother-in-law are more than stunned and can’t believe what they are seeing now; MORE figures getting out of the newly landed UFO and hurrying to assist the other humanoid figures as they work on the first craft. Sound like a scene out of the X-Files, Twilight Zone or even the 1960′s show The Invaders? Actually, the above account of a double UFO landing is true and is just as strange as anything that either Rod Serling or Chris Carter could ever imagine. Taking place on the evening of November 25, 1964, just north of the small hamlet of New Berlin, NY (nearest large city – Oneonta – 25 miles away) Mrs. Kathy Hatzenbuhler and her mother-in-law were witnesses to the whole startling event across from her property on New York State Route 80. The most astounding part of this encounter of “high strangeness” was, of course, the humanoid figures trying to repair the grounded UFO. As Mrs. Hatzenbuhler described them: “they seemed to be dressed in something like a skin diver’s wetsuit. It was a dark color and their hands were visible…out from the wrist of the suit. Their skin was lighter than the suit that they were wearing. They were built like men…the only difference [was that they] were slightly taller…between 6 1/2 and 8 feet tall…they seemed to have hair like we do, although their hair wasn’t long…it seemed to be well barbered, fairly close to their heads.” After the second UFO approached and landed just beyond the first one, five more figures exited it to join the crew working on the first object. Mrs. H watched through her powerful field glasses as almost all of them worked hard to cut long sections of what appeared to be “heavy dark cable”. Hazenbuhler felt quite safe watching the whole procedure, but her mother-in-law grew quite frightened. They both considered calling the authorities, but decided against it as they felt that the police or sheriff might end up harassing the “alien men.” Also, both ladies later told investigators that they felt that “the men” were watching THEM closely the whole time. The crews from both ships worked non-stop for four hours trying to re-fit the contraption they had removed from the one craft, back up into place. Three attempts failed, but on the fourth try they succeeded. Hatzenbuhler explained what she saw after that: “I could see them quickly pick up everything they could pick up and the men who had come down from the vehicle above them on the hill ran back with the materials up there. These men were running with something extremely heavy – (like) two men with a toolbox – one that required two men to carry. There were at least two more toolboxes, [and] there were two men who were laboriously running [and] it looked like they were picking up cable pieces [that] these other men had left. They ran up the hill with them and [then]…I didn’t see them anymore.” Then, around 4:55 AM, the whole episode abruptly came to an end. The vehicle on the uppermost part of the hill left first. “It went straight up…almost like an instantaneous disappearance in the direction it had come from – south / southwest,” Hatzenbuhler recalled. “A minute later the other vehicle rose straight up,went to the crest of the hill, rose a little further again and shot off in the same direction, at the same speed. And that was it.” The next day curiosity got the better of her and she and her husband (a chemical engineer) made their way up to the area where the craft had landed. There they found two sets of evenly spaced triangular depressions, fourteen inches wide and around eighteen inches deep. But they also found something else that amazed them both; there sitting on the ground in full sight was “an apparent piece of cable.” Hatzenbuhler later described it to investigators: “the outer part of it looked like wrapping, something like a brown paper towel, only it wasnt like OUR paper towel(s). It felt…like that and was dark brown in color. It seemed to be [some sort of] tubular cable wrapping. And in the center of it – it had been cut laterally- you could see [a] strip, maybe an inch wide. [It was] something that looked like finely shredded aluminum strips laid in there. [It had] the color and feel of aluminum, although it WASNT aluminum. It didnt behave like aluminum. Aluminum will crumple and THIS WOULDNT CRUMPLE. You couldnt crease it. It was inside, strips of this, laying inside the paper. You could remove the inside, for the outside paper had been cut along the length of the piece, but it was all together.” They then gathered a piece of it and took it with them back to their house. But unfortunately, before any investigators had a chance to examine it, it was lost. Initially, Mrs. Hatzenbuhler, her husband and her mother-in-law told no one of the unbelievable events of that night. As time wore on however, and no answers came to light as to what exactly they had seen, they began discretely asking around if anyone else had glimpsed anything odd in that general vicinity that evening. Eventually word got out and the three largest civilian UFO investigative organizations at that time – NICAP (National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena), APRO (Aerial Phenomenon Research Group) and CSW (Civilian Saucer Watch) did in-depth interviews with the primary witnesses and some ground investigation as well. All three investigations corroborated with each other exactly, leaving very little doubt about the facts involved. A few years later, a prominent psychiatrist from the New York City area – Dr. Berthold Schwarz – who had an overarching interest in the paranormal – arranged to visit Mrs. Hatzenbuhler at her home in Pennsylvania (she and her husband had since moved from New Berlin). There he interviewed her extensively (both consciously and under hypnosis) and also administered a small battery of psychological tests including the Cornell Medical Index Questionnaire and the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Test (MMPT). Scharwz found her a happy and well-adjusted woman and the tests showed her to be “healthy,open and straightforward.” In his report he also mentioned that she stuck to her story and presented a well organized account [and] when “her data from disparate sources and times were reviewed, there were no inconsistencies.” Outside his report Schwarz made indication that she had been as truthful a witness to a close encounter that he had ever interviewed. And there the case stands to this day; as puzzling and paradoxical as first reported. Did Marianne Hatzenbuhler and her mother-in-law witness something so rare that there are hardly any analogues to it in parapsychological research? Or were they terribly mislead in what they saw, either witnessing an elaborate hoax or something else altogether? There is no certainty on either point, for indeed, with regards to the double landing on that cold night in 1964 in upstate New York, the truth is still “out there.”. Bob Canino
