This is our new dog Kira, a cross between a water dog and a Podenko. She has been with us since February 7, 2024 and is busy winning our hearts. She is a sweet, affectionate dog who quickly adapted to us within a week. She is very quick and curious, a very different dog than Noleke.

MUFON's mission is the analytical and scientific investigation of the UFO- Phenomenon for the benefit of humanity... Je kan ook hun site bekijken onder www.mufon.com. Ze geven een maandelijks tijdschrift uit, namelijk The MUFON UFO-Journal. Since 02/01/2020 is Pieter ex-president (=voorzitter) of BUFON, but also ex-National Director MUFON / Flanders and the Netherlands. We work together with the French MUFON Reseau MUFON/EUROP.

Starchild Skull - UFO Researcher Memorial - Lloyd Pye

The truth is something Lloyd Pye has been searching for his entire life. Born September 7, 1946 in Houma, Louisiana he earned a football scholarship to Tulane University in New Orleans as a Running back and Punter.. He graduated with a B.S. in psychology and from there joined the U.S. Army as a military intelligence specialist.

Pye began writing in 1975, and became a screenwriter in the 1980s. He worked on the TV Series 'Scarecrow and Mrs. King' about a spy and a housewife. In 1995 he transitioned from fiction to non-fiction.

His career as researcher, speaker and author led him to his work with the Star child Skull and since 1999, Lloyd Pye and The Star child Project have studied a 900-year-old human-like skull trying to find answers about it's true origin. That has been his primary focus and in 2011 at the IUFOC he spoke about his about findings.

One of the more frustrating aspects to Pye's work was going up against what he described as the "brainwashing" that goes on in the education system as well as his frustration with breaking beyond the barriers of contemporary science's viewpoints.

Alien Spacecraft are Hiding in Oceans

This show delves into the mountain of reports from the Gulf Breeze, Florida UFO sighting wave of the early 1990s and then looks for possible connections to recent reports from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba of alleged Unidentified Submerged Objects (USOs) spotted rising from the ocean.

"What secrets lurk in ocean depths? Are there alien forms of intelligent life that occupy the vast volumes of water that constitute our oceans, seas, and lakes? The largest of our oceans, the Pacific, covers 64,000,000 square miles and reaches a depth of 36,198 feet, a depth that no ray of sunlight ever reaches. Could these depths hide alien submarine bases?

Underwater UFOs have been sighted on many occasions lifting out of their submerged depths and taking to the air. In an article entitled "UFOs - at 450 Fathoms," UFO Reporter Ed Hyde told of the sighting made by Dr. R. J. Villela, a Brazilian scientist, who saw a UFO smash through an estimated 40 feet of ice at the South Pole and soar into the sky at amazing speed.

It was author and researcher Dr. Ivan T. Sanderson who suggested that aliens could remain undetected by building their bases beneath the world's oceans. Dr. Sanderson found that by actual count, over 50 percent of the UFO sightings had occurred over, coming from, or plunging into or coming out of water. This includes oceans, seas, lakes, and reservoirs. Of the oceanic UFOs (some term them USOs or Unidentified Submersible Objects), one was tracked by the U.S. Navy near Puerto Rico in 1963. Of course many of these objects have been tracked over Puerto Rico since that time. On a training maneuver, a sonar operator detected a sub aqueous object traveling at over 150 knots! The technicians tracked this object for four days and it maneuvered down to the incredible depth of 27,000 feet. Submarines of 1963 could not dive further than a fraction over a mile into the ocean deeps. What kind of submersible could withstand the tremendous ocean pressures? And how could it overcome the tremendous resistance of water moving at such incredible speeds?

    My Guess? Most likely Not!

Will Obama's new advisor persuade him to release UFO files?

Podesta, 64, was a White House chief of staff under Bill Clinton and has been Obama's outside advisor since the 2008 presidential election. He also advised former Secretary-of-State Hillary Clinton during her last year in office.

Podesta is the founder and chair of the Center for Equitable Growth Center think-tank created this fall and chair of the Center for American Progress he founded a decade ago.

He will now formally join the White House inner circle for a year as Obama struggles to salvage his unexpectedly difficult second term. Apart from climate change and executive issues, Podesta will also handle Obama's troubled healthcare program.

There is one further fact you might not know about him. Podesta repeatedly urged the US government to declassify at least some 25 year old UFO files which could give scientists a clue as to the real nature of a few unexplained airborne signtings. In 2010, he wrote a foreword to Leslie Kean's "UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record".

"I'm skeptical about many things, including the notion that government always knows best, and that the people can't be trusted with the truth. The time to pull the curtain back on this subject is long overdue. Presenting the facts, the book includes statements from only the most credible sources, those in a position to know, about a fascinating phenomenon, the nature of which is yet to be determined," Podesta wrote.

Obama, whose approval rating fell 5% in October to below 50%, may well
onsider releasing UFO files as a nice way to prop up his sagging popularity.

De la vapeur d'eau jaillirait d'une des lunes de Jupiter

    http://www.lepoint.fr/astronomie/de-la-vapeur-d-eau-jaillirait-d-une-des-lunes-de-jupiter-16-12-2013-1770289_1925.php

Ancient Aliens S06 E11 Aliens and Mysterious... by sky_wizard

    Video: Aliens and Mysterious Mountains

.Across ancient civilizations, the world’s mountains were viewed as the sacred home to all-powerful gods. Why would so many different cultures share this belief that mountains had a connection to otherworldly beings? The Greeks believed their most powerful gods, the Olympians, waged an epic war for control of the universe from Mt. Olympus. Ruins of a 4000-year-old observatory discovered on a mountain in Macedonia reveal that the ancients tracked celestial movements from on high with remarkable precision. And in Peru, the descendants of the Incans continue an ancient pilgrimage tradition in order to commune with mountain spirits known as Apu. Could these gods have been extraterrestrials? Did they use remote mountain peaks to interact with early man? Might this explain why humans have been drawn to mountains for thousands of years?

Giant Sea Creature Baffles Experts After Washing Up On Shore (Video)

    (Before It's News)

    By Susan Duclos

Another mysterious gigantic sea creature has washed up on shore, this time in the Masaplod Sur village in Dauin, Negros Oriental and it is baffling experts and residents alike. An Italian environmental activist claims it is a “sperm whale,” yet a top official of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in the province, says it isn’t. Fisherman claim the reddish color leads them to believe it is a giant squid.

The sea creature, believed to be 10 meters in diameter with approximately 10 tons in weight.

The remains of this giant sea creature has been transported to  the Silliman University Laboratory for further study, according to The Sun Star.

For most people, looking for UFOs is more of a hobby than an actual occupation. Not so for Erin Ryder, James Fox and Ben McGee, members of a dynamic team starring in the new television series, "Chasing UFOs," that premieres Friday on the National Geographic Channel.

One can imagine the theme music of the old "X-Files" series playing in the heads of Ryder, Fox and McGee as they travel the country looking for the truth behind reported unexplained UFO encounters, alien abduction and military cover-ups.

The three investigators bring different points of view as they chase UFOs.

Ryder, a thrill-seeking adventurer who costars on the Syfy Channel's "Destination Truth" series and also the "Chasing UFOs" tech supervisor and lead researcher, calls herself the "skeliever" of the group -- sort of a half-skeptic, half-believer.

"I couldn't find a word to best describe how I felt my stance was and I really am somewhere between a skeptic and a believer," she told The Huffington Post. "I've always had a fondness for the strange and unusual, and I go on the facts and base my findings from the evidence we collect and the testimonies we hear."

Fox, who is often referred to as a UFOlogist and has produced two previous UFO documentaries, "Out of the Blue" and "I Know What I Saw," is the believer here. "My goal is to create something that is entertaining, yet very informative and also dispels the myth that there's nothing more to UFOs than swamp gas, misidentified aircraft and mass hallucinations," Fox told HuffPost.

McGee, a geologist, field explorer and aerospace consultant, is the scientific skeptic of the group. "This material tends to be so toxic for scientists, so my first impulse was to run for the hills," McGee told HuffPost. "But I believe very strongly in education and science outreach, and I thought this would actually be a vehicle to help engage people in the conversation about our place in the universe and the possibility of extraterrestrial life."

So, what can viewers expect to see over the eight-episode arc as the team talks to eyewitnesses, examines photographic evidence and even tries to find their own evidence to present?

In "Chasing UFOs," the investigators visit several states to try to make credible sense of lights spotted in the skies, in cases involving numerous eyewitnesses and photographic evidence, always mindful that most UFO reports can be explained as misidentified conventional aircraft, planets and meteorological phenomena.

One segment brings the team to Roswell, N.M., the location of the legendary, albeit alleged, UFO crash of 1947. Ryder, Fox and McGee visit that famous site with metal detectors and find an old button, shown below, that appears to be from a military uniform or jacket. This, they speculate, might confirm that someone associated with the military had traveled to the field at some point.

But does it prove that a UFO crash landed there? To be fair, no. But the investigators are on the lookout for compelling evidence that some UFOs might indeed be unexplained. Even the smallest pieces of evidence could be parts of the larger puzzle.

"Our job, in many of our programs, is to explore the unknown, and this is a way into a topic that, while it's been done before, we hope it hasn't been done in this particular way," said Michael Cascio, National Geographic Channel's executive vice president of programming.

"UFOs is a topic of endless fascination, not just for me, but for viewers. And we have an opportunity here to look at UFO cases in a format that allows you to go into detail and enjoy the ride as you go," Cascio told HuffPost.

"We dig up as much information as we can and say to the viewer, 'Here's what we've discovered,'" Cascio added. "We also hope that [our team's] personalities come out and that viewers relate to them and find them interesting and entertaining."

Among the subjects of one of the last episodes of the first season of "Chasing UFOs" is something odd that reportedly happened in Brazil's coffee production town of Varginha in 1996 and reported by multiple civilian and military eyewitnesses.

"It's the Roswell of Brazil," said Fox. "An aerial object was spotted coming down and appeared to crash. Within 24 hours, people reported seeing two creatures in the town, which by then had been closed off by the military.

"While nobody actually called them ETs, they were described as 5-foot-tall creatures (see illustration at left) with dark-brown, oily-looking skin, split toes, red eyes and ridges on their skulls, and they were reported looking feeble or weak," Fox added.

"The hardest thing to do is to go and have an open mind and no preconceived notions that will taint the investigation," said Ryder. "To be completely objective is what we try to do and a lot of the time, I still end up in the middle somewhere."

As the scientist of the team, McGee said he's open to investigating any question anyone has and to illustrate the process of what it takes to make a scientific determination.

"We have a social responsibility to try and help people understand what it is up in the sky, even if it is a low-angle star blinking or maybe something exotic," McGee said. "I'd be no less excited if something truly strange ended up being upper atmospheric electrical phenomena we don't know about yet."

Paranormal TV shows. They’ve been around for years, entertaining audiences with stories and videos from all parts of the unknown. But the show that really took this genre of TV show to the next level of popularity was “Ghost Hunters” on the Syfy network. Whether you hate it or love it, you can’t deny the impact it had on paranormal TV. Ever since then, many networks have tried to come up with their own paranormal show in hopes they can recreate the boom “Ghost Hunters” had. Travel Channel has the very popular “Ghost Hunters” staring Zak Bagan’s and his two friends where they hunt ghosts by themselves without any camera crew with them. The show even today is STILL popular (I even watch it). But as the years went on, these kind of shows have become progressively worse. Now, TV’s newest paranormal show hoping to rake in the ratings is non-other than National Geographic’s “Chasing UFOs”. A show were three people go around the US trying to capture evidence of UFOs ranging from interviewing key witnesses or even hunting the UFOs out at night. The best way to describe the show is it’s a mix of “Ghost Hunters”, “Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files”, and even a bit of “Destination Truth”. The only problem, it fails in EVERY way possible to the point where you’ll either be laughing your ass off or face palming the entire time. So, let’s get on with the review! NOTE: I watched the first 2 episodes of the series, so my opinion is based off of what I could bear saw.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=wi-7lQXAgq8

    1) The episode structure. OK, so what is a typical episode like? Well, each episode follows or team of investigators.

    Photo: Erin Ryder

Ryder, the only female of the group who is a tech and recon expert. She is what she calls a “Skeliever” a mix of a skeptic and a believer.

    Photo: Ben McGee

Ben, who is the physical scientist of the group. He is the skeptic of the group.

    Photo: James Fox

James, who is the UFO expert of the group, or “ufologist”. He is the believer.

So those are our three members. Now, let’s talk about how the episode usually plays out. It usually starts with the three looking at some video evidence from a local area (i.e. a small town in Texas) and then interviewing witnesses, then doing a night time hunt (which doesn’t make sense to me), then they do more day time research and then back to night time hunts and then the episode ends with each of the member’s thoughts on the whole case.

OK, so let me critique. The problem with the show is that once you find out the show has a pattern for each episode, it becomes REALLY boring to watch. Now granted all shows of this nature have a pattern, but those at least shake things up every episode. The two episodes I watched were almost IDENTICAL to each other in terms of when they captured their own evidence and so forth. It’s also worth noting that you can tell the three of them are acting. From the obviously forced jokes between each other to the way they react to witness testimony. Out of all of them, James has to be my favorite. Not because he says things that make sense, but because of how he treats the others. He loves to very subtly make fun of the other two and doesn’t seems like he really wants to be there. Also, Ryder while she seems like she’s suppose to be a smart/tough/sexy woman says some really dumb that don’t seem like she’s really the one saying it. For instance, in the first episode, they are all looking into the crash of a UFO back in 1891 in Texas. Ryder suggests that they go to the crash sight and look for debris from the crash. Wait, the crash happened in 1891, how would there be PHYSICAL EVIDENCE over 100 years later?! It would be impossible. It’s hilarious to watch because of unprofessional it all is and it’s surprising that National Geographic airs this kind of stuff on their channel now in place of the old educational stuff about the world and it’s history. But in this day and age, it’s not about content, it’s all about ratings, and this doesn’t seem to have the potential to be a ratings grabber.

    2) Behind the scenes stuff. OK, so in the second half of this review, I’d like to talk about the behind the scenes stuff about the show such as the music and the editing. Music wise, it’s OK. The main theme is completely forgettable to be honest. I can’t even remember it right now and I literally JUST got done watching the show. But who cares about that, what about the music throughout the show. It tries to be suspenseful and keep you excited, but it fails. Forgettable in my opinion, but when your listening to it its OK. The editing is pretty standard, nothing bad nothing good. They do use sound effects and it’s apparent they are sound effects and it’s a pretty cheap ploy to get suspense up. Overall score of the behind the scenes stuff: 5/10

So what are my overall thoughts. I think the show is VERY bad. The three people are bad at what they do almost to the point of being annoying, the pattern of the show is VERY predictable and never shakes things up to where it feels like it’s at least semi-new, and just the overall unprofessional attitude from the whole crew just make for a bad TV show that probably won’t last long. It tries to be like “UFO Hunters” but with a twist, and since in my opinion “UFO Hunters” was already a great show, this show is a flop. Overall score: 2/10 I say watch the first episode if you want to laugh, but after that you’ll just be slumped in your seat asking, “When is this over?” To me, this show is WORSE than Fact or Faked, and I think you all know how I feel about that show.

So that’s my “review” of “Chasing UFOs”. I hope you enjoyed it!

    Project Moon Dust Revisited

As I worked on a new book about the UFO secrets found in various government files, I was scanning one of the Project Blue Book microfilms, searching for a specific case. As the files slipped by I thought I saw the words “Moon Dust.” I stopped and reversed course much more slowly. On one of what they called the “project card” which was a short summary of the case, I did see the term Moon Dust.

I located several different project cards that contained “Moon Dust” references. In those few files, I found indications that there was coordination between Blue Book and Moon Dust, at least briefly. Several of the cases do reference Moon Dust though they seem to have conventional explanations, at least according to the information in the file.

The first of these cases came from Ramey Air Force Base (which was not named for Roger Ramey of Roswell fame), Puerto Rico on September 15, 1960. This file, which noted one of the addressees on the message as Moon Dust, said:

    •    Round object with a tail, size reports vary from the size of a pea to half dollar, color reports vary from bluish-white to dusky red. Tail aprox [sic] 3-5 times the size of the object. No sound. Object reported to have broken up into several fireballs. One report stated that object finally fell into ocean.
    •   It is possible that this object was a very slow meteor. However it is more probably a reentry of the 1960 Epsilon vehicle, parts of which reentered during Sep and Oct 1960. Epsilon had an inclination of 64 [degrees], therefore the heading would be about 26 degrees.

A series of sightings on September 21, 22, and 23, 1960, from Bermuda, were listed as “ATIC possible Mon [sic] Dust. The witnesses are identified only as civilians. The case said, “Reported sightings by local people of dull orange object on 21, 22, 23 Sep [sic] accompanied by weird [sic] whirring sound, in evening.”

The original message said that further investigation was being conducted but no follow up information had been received. There was insufficient data for any sort of scientific analysis and I suspect that if anything interesting was found, it would not have become part of Blue Book. I also suspect that if nothing more was found, no one bothered with a follow up report.

Another of these Moon Dust cases took place on September 23, 1960, at Bitburg AB, Germany. The source of the sighting was listed as “Moon Dust.” It said:

    •     Luminous streak, like shooting star, colors red and yellow. Object left a trail. Object appeared very suddenly and was red in color, gradually changing to bright yellow. Appeared much larger than meteor… Path momentarily broken and when reappeared was red in color, no smoke but numerous sparks.
    •    Description conforms to satellite reentry. As to direction, color and breaking up. 1960 Lambda II (rocket body) reentered this date. Case evaluated as satellite reentry based upon general description, although duration of sighting was omitted.

This seems to be a reasonable explanation, especially since there was documentation to back up the solution. A few days later, on September 26, 1960, northeast of Bermuda, an object that was yellowish-green and described as a “falling star or object” was seen.

A teletype in the Project Blue Book files, received on 26 Sep 60, said, “PD Moon Dust falling star or object sighted by GULL special at 0527Z 26 Sep.” There was no explanation or definition of Gull. It might have been the name of the mission or the name of the witness. It was in sight for one second.

A Moon Dust case, like these others, meaning with little information, came from Thule, Greenland. A teletype message said, “Bright comet like object presumably MOONDUST sighted at Thule AB Greenland… on 24 Sep 60. Estimated elevation less than ten degrees. Direction: Appeared from south east and disappeared into the west… Observed time 5 seconds.” It was written off as a possible meteor.

Finally in September, a sighting was made in Wethersfield, England. The teletype message said, “Flare-like appearance, light green to white in color. Travelling northwest to southeast.” It was noted that the “Information too limited for valid conclusion.”

These cases are of importance because of the connection to Moon Dust. It proves that Moon Dust had a UFO component but more interesting is the fact that after this point, that is late 1960, I have found no other references to Moon Dust in the Project Blue Book files. This doesn’t mean that someone else might not find such a connection, just that I didn’t find one. My mission, at the time of the discoveries was research on a book about the secrets in the government files, so my research took in a wide range of government organizations. Just think how vast that target is.

These were cases that I stumbled across as I worked on one chapter of the book, but of course, will be found in the chapter in which I deal with Moon Dust. I believe that research will add to our knowledge of that project, taking us beyond what has been reported in the past.

    A Different Perspective

    National Geographics and UFOs

I was watching the National Geographic Channel the other day because the topic was on alien life and SETI. I was curious about how a "scientifically" oriented channel would deal with this slightly outside the mainstream of science topic and if they would even address UFOs.
    They did.
And in what has to be among the shortest segments ever broadcast about the Roswell case, they dismissed it in about a minute and a half. They said that some believed that Roswell represented the crash of an alien craft, but the Air Force explained that it was actually a balloon with the then top secret Project Mogul and the drop of anthropomorphic dummies during tests of ejection systems some six to tn years after the completion of Mogul. They made it sound as if this was the final answer and that any thinking person would know it.

The problem as I see it, based on my years of research into the Roswell case is that they ignored evidence because it didn’t fit into their preconceived notions of the case. The Air Force said that they had the answer and the Air Force must be right. This was an "appeal to authority" meaning that we should except the answer because an authoritarian organization said it is so.

Now, I don’t care if you believe Roswell represents the crash of a spacecraft or not. I will say that one of the poorest answers for the case is saying it was a balloon, or a balloon array, and dummies that were dropped near Roswell a decade later. Let’s take a look at these ideas, especially Project Mogul.

First, we must accept the idea that Project Mogul was highly classified and therefore wouldn’t be known to those outside the small group conducting the tests and the Air Force officers overseeing the project. This, unfortunately, is not the case.

Mogul used off-the-shelf weather balloons. These would just like those launched four to six times a day by weather stations and weather officers all over the United States. There was nothing about the Mogul balloons that would make them difficult to identify and no reason that a reasonably competent person, whether a rancher living near Corona, New Mexico or an Air Intelligence Officer stationed at the air field would be fooled by them.

True, the Mogul array (seen to the left in flight) contained enough balloons and rawin radar detectors to make it unusual, it still was made of common place balloons and radar detectors. Mack Brazel who found the debris said that he had found weather observation balloons on two other occasions and if this was basically the same, there was no reason for him to become excited and report the balloons to the military.

Second, Charles Moore, one of the engineers on Project Mogul told me, personally, that members of his team had traveled to Roswell to confer with the base personnel. They wanted the military to help them recover their balloons and to help them track them. The officers told the "college boys" that they had more important things to do and couldn’t be bothered with wasting time on this. So, the "college boys" were left to their own devices, but only after they had told the officers at Roswell they would be launching balloon arrays. And not, some sixty years after that, Moore gets a little payback. He’ll show them what "college boys" can do.

Third, the CAA (forerunner to the FAA) required the Mogul engineers to post NOTAMs. These NO tices To Air Men alerted pilots that balloon arrays were being launched from the Alamogordo area. In other words, the times, dates, and locations of the launches were not classified, and were, in fact, published. Roswell, being a flying base, would receive these NOTAMs so that they would be aware of the balloon arrays.

And finally, in what might be the biggest blow to the Mogul explanation, two days after the newspapers reported the recovery of a flying saucer, newspapers reported on the balloons being launched from Alamogordo. There were even pictures of the balloon arrays (similar to that seen at the left being assembled). So, Mogul was so secret, or rather the equipment was so secret that pictures of it were published in newspapers around the country on July 10, 1947.

What this means is that there is little doubt that the rancher, Brazel, or the Air Intelligence Officer, Major Jesse Marcel, should have been able to identify the debris as a balloon if that’s what it was. When they didn’t, it means that the debris was something else.

Oh, you say, it was an array of balloons and multiple radar detectors so that both might be fooled. Let’s grant that point for a moment. I will counter with the interview conducted with retired Lieutenant Colonel (then a captain) Sheridan Cavitt )seen to the left) who accompanied Marcel out into the field where Brazel showed them the debris.

On May 24, 1994, Colonel Richard Weaver, who was "investigating" the Roswell case for the Air Force, interviewed Cavitt at his home. Cavitt told Weaver that he had been out to the site where the debris was found (confirming the recollections of Jesse Marcel and others who said Cavitt had gone out there) and that they took some of it back to the intelligence room.

Weaver then asked, "What did you think it was when you recovered it?"

Cavitt said, "I thought a weather balloon."

Weaver said, "O.K. (Air Force interpretation of how to spell "Okay"). Were you familiar with weather balloons at the time?"

And Cavitt said that he was.

Think about this. Cavitt went out there and recovered the remains of a balloon. He recognized what it was immediately. He wasn’t influenced by the "flying saucer" hysteria that was sweeping the base because he knew it was a weather balloon.

It seems to me that Weaver’s next question should have been, "Did you report this rather vital piece of intelligence to Marcel or Colonel Blanchard (who was base commander in 1947). But Weaver goes off on a tangent so we never learn why Cavitt didn’t tell anyone that it was a weather balloon at the time. Instead he sits back and lets the press release out telling the world they had a flying saucer.

As an aside, I will note here that Lewis "Bill" Rickett, who was the senior sergeant in the Counter-Intelligence Corps (CIC) office at Roswell with Cavitt, had told us that he went out to the site with Cavitt. He said that they went through a check point manned by Military Police who examined their identification.

Cavitt, in his interview with Weaver said, "There were no, as I understand, check points or anything like that (going through guards and that sort of garbage)."

So, we now have Cavitt in conflict with Rickett, just as we have Cavitt in conflict with Marcel. Of course, he was also in conflict with Brazel but he agreed with Charles Moore, who wasn’t involved in the Roswell recovery, whatever it might have been.

We do have some records for Project Mogul. The project engineers published their findings and in those publications were indications of what happened with each of the balloon flights. They were tracked, and when possible, the equipment was recovered. Every Mogul flight was recorded with a single exception.

Skeptics have focused their attention on Flight No. 4 which was launched on June 4, 1947. It was not included in any of the official documentation. In fact, there were no real indications about a flight four and that is why the skeptics focused on it.

Charles Moore attempted to learn why the numbered flights jumped from three to five. He communicated with Dr. Albert Crary’s widow, Crary being the project leader. Crary kept a personal diary and that might explain what happened to Flight No. 4.

According to the diary, the flight was to be made of a cluster of regular balloons and a sonobuoy or type of microphone. It was to be launched in conjunction with a rocket from White Sands. The purpose was to determine if the noise made by the launch and some explosions detonated on the ground would be detectable by the array. Mogul’s overall purpose was to place balloons at a constant level in the atmosphere as a way to monitor Soviet research into atomic weapons.

According the information available the rocket launch was scrubbed, meaning there was no flight and therefore nothing to Mogul to monitor. Crary’s diary for June 4 said, "Out to Tularosa Range and fired charges between 00 [midnight] and 06 this am. No balloon flight again on account of clouds."

That would seem to end the controversy right there but this is the Roswell case and nothing is ever quite this easy. The entry continues, "Flew regular sonobuoy mike up in cluster of balloons and had good luck on receiver on ground but poor on plane."

Moore, in a document he called "The New York University Balloon Flights During Early June, 1947," suggests that this flight was made up of a sonobuoy, a cluster of balloons and the radar targets. They now have all the material on them that could possibly account for the debris that Mack Brazel found. But, of course, that isn’t what the diary said and there is no indication that they attached the radar targets to this flight.

Further, there are no records of where it went or where it came down. Moore suggests that it was lost somewhere around Arabela, New Mexico and that he remembered this because the exotic sounding names of the place.

Using winds aloft data that I supplied to him, he worked out the probable path and believes that the balloons might well have come down on the Brazel ranch, but he isn’t completely sure. There is a wide range of precise calculations necessary to understand this, and it seems that a relatively minor change in the data at one or two points changes the outcome radically. In other words, there is no evidence that the balloons ever moved north of Arabela, no evidence that they came down on the Brazel ranch, and certainly no reason for the radar detectors (if they had been attached and the evidence suggests they weren’t) to explode as indicated by the descriptions of the debris by those who saw it.

Given all this information, there is very little reason to believe that Mogul was responsible for the debris Brazel found. Descriptions of it, supplied by Marcel, Bill Brazel (the son of Mack and who had found some small fragments himself), the Proctors (who saw a small piece of debris that Mack Brazel carried with him), and a dozen other witnesses, suggest something more extraordinary than the remains of a balloon that should have been readily identifiable to those who found it. If Cavitt could tell it was a balloon, then why couldn’t Brazel or Marcel.

Which leads us all back to the anthropomorphic dummies (seen at the left with Air Force testers) which the Air Force trotted out to explain the tales of the bodies. Interestingly, the Air Force wasn’t saying that bodies of some kind hadn’t been found, they were saying that the witnesses who reported bodies had mistaken these dummies for alien creatures and were mistaken about the year they were found.

I’m not going to take a lot of time with this because it doesn’t deserve a lot of time. The Air Force suggested that people who had seen the dummies had just been mistaken about the time frame and over the years had come to believe that these sightings of the dummies conformed to the UFO crash.

The problem here is that descriptions of the bodies bore no resemblance to the dummies. The test dummies were about six feet tall, had human looking faces, arms and legs. The bodies reported were small, no more than five feet tall, had facial features that could be described as resembling that of humans but were not. The eyes were too large, the nose too small, and the placement of the ears all wrong.

Now, as I said, I don’t care if you believe that Roswell was extraterrestrial or that there is some more mundane answer, but I will say that Mogul and anthropomorphic dummies (seen in the field at the left) is no longer a viable explanation. It ignores too many of the facts, introduces explanations that have no basis in reality, and suggests a grasping at any straw to answer the questions. These explanations fail to take into account too much information that can be corroborated and documented.

For those interested in more information, I have a number of books that can provide that information including the coming Roswell Revisited.

Scientists Reveal Extraordinary Sonic Properties of Stonehenge Bluestones | Archaeology | Sci-News.com

British researchers, reporting in the journal Time & Mind: the Journal of Archaeology, Consciousness and Culture, may have cracked the mystery of why the builders of Stonehenge chose to haul some of its giant bluestones 320 km away from Wales to Salisbury Plain.
Stonehenge, a famous prehistoric monument in Wiltshire, England.

Their pilot study is focused on bluestones in the Carn Menyn Ridge, Preseli Hills, south-west Wales, the source area of some of the Stonehenge bluestones.

According to local legend, the bluestones possess magical and healing properties. But what Dr Paul Devereux and Dr Jon Wozencroft from London’s Royal College of Art have now discovered are the extraordinary ‘sonic properties’ of these stones, which might have led to their use in Stonehenge.

After testing over 1,000 stones at points all along the Carn Menyn Ridge, they found that on average, between 5-10 percent of the rocks ‘ring’ when hit. In localized places, the figure rises to 15–20 percent, ‘with a few very small hotspots up to double that percentage again.

“When struck, some make a range of metallic sounds, from pure bell-like tones to tin drum noises to deeper gong-like resonances,” Dr Devereux and Dr Wozencroft explained.

Being in no doubt that the source area of the Stonehenge bluestones is a noteworthy soundscape, the scientists traveled to Stonehenge itself. The sonic properties of the bluestones were tested in situ, the first time this had ever been done.

“Was sound a key reason behind the otherwise inexplicable transport of these stones from Preseli to Salisbury Plain – whether they were to be rung at Stonehenge, or simply because the megalith builders associated them with the magical properties of the astonishing Carn Menyn soundscape?”

“Stonehenge will never tell us for certain. But given all that the study has discovered, such a suggestion may well ring true with further research.”

Remote Viewing  Defense Against Reptilian Aliens, Overlords of Human-Abducting Aliens

              Paul Schroeder

I used to firmly believe that we as predators were at the very top of the food chain.

Then, others like me, who also claimed to be abductees, some of who I met through Budd Hopkins and his house get togethers many years ago told me  horror stories about some abductions.

They had seen on-board craft, a Mothman alien race, an 'in-charge' being who radiated rage and hatred.

This satanic, diabolical alien being was overlord of many alien races who abduct humans and who pilot UFOS.

Muscular, winged, sentient, highly technological, upright standing to seven feet tall, monitor lizards governed large craft; reptilians who looked upon us as we fancied veal violated our World's airspace every night...

    (graphic: Earthfiles.com)

These abductees had even gleaned what reptoids regular diets consisted of..

Just as bad or even worse there was a spiritual/supernatural element, an ethereal placement of young reptilians along human abductees spinal chords for aural feasting; they could trespass interdimensionally as well and tamper with our energies that extended there also.

That explained why so many abductees had such horrid spinal issues; tampering with astral energies causes somatic injury.

Imagine a whole cityscape with most people walking around with an affixed juvenile reptilian attached upside-down to their spines; it lends a new meaning to a silent invasion.

It was a chilling story I was to hear repeatedly echoed elsewhere.

It re-framed correctly, at least to my mind, what the ulterior motive, purpose was behind many alien/mankind interaction/visitations.

And it angered me to think how blind UFO sky-watchers and media are to simply focus attention and reporting on craft and not ever the intent of occupants within.

It puts one in mind of a Twilight Zone episode called,"To Serve Man", which neatly summed up man's importance in the galaxy as a mere condiment.

Director of CIA, Admiral R.H. Hillenkoetter: "It is time for the truth to be brought out in open Congressional hearings. Behind the scenes, high-ranking Air Force officers are soberly concerned about UFOs. But through official secrecy and ridicule, citizens are led to believe the unknown flying objects are nonsense. To hide the facts, the Air Force has silenced its personnel." p. 58, quoted from New York Times, February 28, 1960, p. L30

But you and I, reader, should not worry as our flesh is too tough, old and tainted with age.

    It makes one want to change, to make an apparent moral decision and assume a vegetarian diet and not ever atavistically revert;

but we too have mouths intended by evolution, equipped with meat tearing incisors.....

Who could ever imagine such creatures ?

MY abduction recalls were of entities who were masters of illusions, ones who tested me in mind imposed scenarios of moral dilemmas and values choices.

They calibrated souls and assessed minds.

They were tall, white like a refrigerator, flat like a Gumby cartoon character and politely spoke mind to mind.

Years later I saw one close up; at first, it cocked its head at me sideways, birdlike .

I  had tried an experiment with my mind to see if I could control a UFO by remote viewing, a mind flexing field exercise to show my irritation for the copious nosebleeds I had sustained after my abductions from devices inserted into my sinuses.

    By virtue of the unexpected result, the appearance of a saurian monstrously tall reptilian in the center of my living room who radiated a loathsome palpable rage and hatred shortly after I tried using this psychic technique, I determined that I would never try this mental exercise tool again;

however, a skilled TEAM might bring marvelous results.

The unused power of our mind is part of the raw quantum physics of the universe ; it has latent power both miraculous and awesome, seen in this power flexing exercise.

The fact that it brought almost immediate retaliation against me underlines its potential efficacy.

With your eyes closed, visualize an alien craft, a disc shaped or cigar shaped large UFO, and see it perched or flying above our planet or high within our skies, many miles overhead.

Visualize all quadrants of this very large craft, full of overlord reptilians and subservient greys all busy at machinery; study the tiers and levels of it in full detail for a full half minute.

Visualize that a force from your mind sharply hits the ship; jar the craft violently and then toss it into another section of space, like a football, end over end.

Clearly see it hurled across a short distance in space, at a tilted pitched angle and visualize/ imagine all entities onboard now suddenly very startled and frightened.

(Imagination, is a word that should be eliminated from our language.)

I augmented this visualization and used a quick head tilt to accentuate the strong mental suggestion of the craft's jump.

I had totally forgotten about this experimental exercise within an  hour.

But then between me on the couch and my television set, a creature from a nightmare appeared and changed my life.
There are moments that define one's life, moments that one says, 'this was before that', 'this was after that'.

    A mothman-like reptilian, a winged scaled saurian being a ceiling-high materialized.

Without moving I was suddenly warmed ; hatred surrounded me with menace as though I were near a hot radiator.

Its cat-like eyes radiated a palpable loathing and rage, which awed me rather than frightened me as I had lost my senses to surprise..

It vanished after less than five seconds .

Later, days and weeks later in my life, that saurian vendetta surely and without question manifested a series of horrid and painful accidents which seemed later to underline the smoldering, tangible hatred and rage that it had radiated towards me.

In retrospect, those agonies and sudden misfortunes were not worth the risk of what was after all a very foolhardy experiment.

But I couldn't help but wonder how merely one single human mind could be such a powerful weapon/tool, to control alien craft, that do indeed respond to powerful telepathic messages.

And I later also couldn't help but wonder what more a highly skilled group of focused minds, an orchestra of minds in unison, might also be able to accomplish.

We are not as helpless against these creatures and their machines as everyone has thought...

50th Anniversary of Kennedy US-USSR plan to cooperate in space & UFO research

President Kennedy's historic Sept 20 UN Speech culminated in the events of November 12, 1963.

President Kennedy’s historic Sept 20 UN Speech culminated in the events of November 12, 1963.

Tomorrow is the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy’s ground breaking policy of space cooperation with the Soviet Union and plans for a joint mission to the moon. Kennedy released National Security Action Memorandum (NSAM) 271 on November 12, 1963, that required NASA’s administrator, James Webb, to share sensitive national security information with its equivalent Soviet space agency. More dramatic was another memorandum, allegedly authorized by Kennedy and issued the same day, that required the CIA Director, John McCone, to share classified UFO files with NASA, the State Department, and eventually the Soviet Union.

In a newly released Special Edition, ExoNews TV examines President John F. Kennedy’s ground breaking initiative to get the USSR and USA to cooperate in joint space and lunar missions. Historic film footage shows Kennedy’s startling overture to the Soviet Union at a UN Speech on September 20, 1963. This little known speech started the negotiation process that led to an agreement between Kennedy and Khrushchev that set in place the remarkable events nearly two months later. In the background of Kennedy’s publicly announced space cooperation initiative with powerful Cold War implications was a more secretive attempt to release classified UFO files. If Kennedy had succeeded, there would have been joint space missions to the moon and eventual public release of classified UFO files by both the US and USSR.

President Kennedy’s assassination, ten days after the launch of his historic November 12, 1963 space cooperation initiative, quickly led to the abandonment of his joint moon mission with the USSR. Kennedy’s alleged attempt to force the CIA to release classified UFO files, came to tragic end.

NASA LIED ABOUT COMET ISON IN ORDER TO DISCREDIT

Found this video on you tube , why would NASA Lie to us about this? See for yourself.

The question is, WHY are we being lied to? Two videos below show screencasts taken at the exact same time of Comet ISON 2013: Perihelion & Distance: LIVE Information. Though each of these videos should show the exact same information, they don’t. This certainly explains this thread at Godlike Productions where forum readers are arguing whether or not Comet ISON is speeding up or slowing down, getting closer to the sun or further away. TPTB are giving us different information on Comet ISON. Why? You can also check the screenshots below taken at the exact same second from our two separate locations. Why are the numbers so different?
The first video below was taken by Susan Duclos on the West coast. Check out the numbers she’s getting on ISON, then check out the 2nd video below, taken by myself on the East Coast, showing totally different speeds and distances from the sun. You can tell by the countdown to perihilion that these two videos were taken at the exact same time. Why are they giving us two different sets of data?

Are we ready for more UFO and other disclosure? Yes and no

Are we ready for more UFO and other disclosure? Yes and no

It’s a question on the minds of many people and has been for several decades now: Can the American and international public deal with information about visitors from other planets and maybe other dimensions?

It probably depends on who you ask. It also may depend on how much and what kind of information we are talking about.

We don’t need to look very far to see that some people apparently prefer to be in total denial about visitors from elsewhere. For example, even when presented with solid evidence and strong indications that advanced spacecraft (not ours) are flying in our skies, many people choose not to face facts.

    However, maybe that’s understandable.

There have been decades of efforts to label people as kooks and nuts if they are interested in UFOs, extraterrestrials and other kinds of unconventional topics.

Some people certainly can be mentally unsound in various ways. Yet, reasonable interest and normal curiosity about UFOs, visitors from elsewhere and other subjects are probably healthy and can indicate that a person is thinking logically and intelligently.

    SAFETY AND INTELLIGENCE

Actually, it seems like common sense. In the case of UFOs, objects in the sky (sometimes at low altitudes) and on the ground have been clearly seen and reported by highly-reliable witnesses. These objects, some appearing to be advanced spacecraft, have appeared on radar.

It seems somewhat kooky to pretend that these things do not exist.

These kinds of apparent spacecraft have reportedly been on the radar of our defense communities both literally and in terms of possible or probable national security issues.

One of these national security issues may be how information about the situation might affect our people in the U.S. and around the world. So, it’s not just a national security matter, it’s a global security situation.

As such, it’s serious business. And serious security measures have allegedly been implemented over the years. “Need-to-know” protocols, “operational security (OPSEC)” and other concepts used in defense activities reportedly may have played important parts in keeping certain information secret.

At the same time, according to some claims, efforts were made to start getting the American and international public ready for more information about this situation.

But how much information should the public know? What kind of information should be released? And how should such information be presented? This is where we get into details that could be interesting and hopeful, or scary and worrisome. Or, maybe all of the above.

    DISCOVERIES AND UNDERSTANDING

If some visitors are friendly and want to help us, great. And what if some are hostile or just don’t have our best interests at heart, but have their own agendas and priorities? What if some of these different kinds of visitors don’t get along among themselves?

Are there conflicts, battles, cold wars or hot wars and spy operations going on behind the scenes, or in our future? Are extraterrestrials or other unconventional beings among us?

Maybe some of these visitors are basically human like we are. And what if some of them are so different-looking and different-behaving that we have a hard time dealing with those elements of the situation?

Some related developments and discoveries could be so unconventional or far out that we might naturally have trouble wrapping our minds around them. These include wormholes and star gates, time travel, telepathy and ESP, other dimensions including what we call the afterlife or Heaven, angels and other kinds of beings that are not simply from another planet, forgotten ancient histories of the human race and Planet Earth, and other subjects that we can hardly imagine or understand.

How would we, or how will we deal with more solid information about these kinds of topics? Will we be fearful? Will we be disoriented and confused?

Or, will we handle increased information and understanding about these kinds of things fairly well and adjust to them in healthy ways?

As we consider all the many moving parts of the UFO situation, along with other discoveries, maybe we can see why certain information may have been held back from the general public.

And as more such information comes to light, we will probably need to continue to be aware of potential problems and dangers, while also trying to move forward and adjust to greater acceptance about the situation at hand.

    10 Intriguing, Unexplained Mysteries   (Video)

    Before It's News)

(N.Morgan) Being from the mid-west, I hadn’t heard of these unexplained mysteries in Arkansas, until now. Here’s a list of 10 of the unexplained and mysterious things, you may not know about Arkansas. Don’t let the serenity of the Arkansas landscape fool you. The Natural State has more than enough of its dark secrets and skeletons in the closet to ruin the serenity. Read on to find out the 10 creepiest.

    10. Old Mike

In the early 1900s, down in Nevada County, the man who would come to be known as “Old Mike” was a familiar face in and around the city of Prescott. A traveling salesman, he would swing by each month to sell stationery to homes and local businesses. He occasionally stayed overnight, but he always left the following day on the afternoon train.

One day, residents found Mike lying motionless under a tree. He had apparently passed away the night before. Knowing him only by his first name – and after a postmortem search failed to turn up any identification – the townspeople did the only sensible thing they could think of. They embalmed him and put his corpse on display outside of the local funeral home.

That’s where Mike sat for the next six decades. He was originally placed there in hopes that someone would identify him or claim the body, but no one ever came forward. Eventually, in 1975, the state attorney general’s office requested that he be buried, and Mike was finally laid to rest later that May. His true identity will likely forever remain a mystery.

    9. Ghost Lights

Ghost lights – or “will-o’-the-wisps,” as they’re known in Europe – are staples of paranormal folklore. Like a handful of other states in the South, Arkansas has two ghostly orbs of its own, one in Gurdon and another in Crossett. Both are similar in appearance, with witnesses describing them asglowing white lights that occasionally move throughout the woods. What’s more, both lights share equally murky origins.

The Gurdon Light was first spotted in the early 1930s, following the murder of a railroad foreman. Local researchers point to the gruesome slaying of William McClain for the legend’s authenticity. Meanwhile, the Crossett Light also originated from a fatal railroad incident, this time with the unlucky worker being beheaded by the train. The legend’s telling varies, though, with one version claiming that the light is the ghost of the decapitated rail worker looking for his head. Another attributes the light to his wife’s lantern, as she eternally searches for her husband’s body.

    8. The Fouke Monster

When traveling through southwest Arkansas, we advise sticking to the main roads. Those brave enough to wander into the woods risk running into the nefarious Fouke Monster. Also called “the Southern Sasquatch,” sightings of the Fouke Monster date back to the 1940s, but arguably the most famous accounts occurred in the early ’70s.

In 1971, Bobby Ford told police that he was attacked by a man-like creature standing over 2 meters (7 ft) tall with red eyes. Ford claimed that he’d spotted the beast only days before on a hunting trip, and decided to shoot at it with his buddies. It was on his porch and presumably seeking revenge.

Before being treated at the hospital for minor injuries, Ford explained to the officers that he routinely spotted the monster on his property terrorizing his livestock, so they decided to investigate. The police failed to find any blood from a supposed wound inflicted by Ford, but they did find a strange set of tracks out in the woods, as well as scratches on Ford’s door. A reporter from the local paper thought enough of the incident to file a story, earning the attention of low-budget filmmakers, who turned the encounter into a clumsy horror movie that propelled the creature to national stardom. The movie spawned four sequels. The History Channel even got in on the action, sending its MonsterQuest team to investigate in 2009.

In recent years, sightings have been sporadic. While the ’70s saw interest in the Fouke Monster peak – a local radio station even put out a bounty for its capture – the late ’90s was the last time the mysterious beast ever saw a resurgence in popularity. To further muddy the legend, independent researchers have argued that the tracks found by Ford and others were forgeries. Dr. Frank Schambagh, a professor at Southern Arkansas University, said that the tracks were man-made and that the anatomy of the Fouke Monster didn’t fit with the known species of primates. Either way, we’ll take our chances with the well-lit, paved areas of Fouke when passing through.

    7. Crop Circles

Crop circles first popped up in Arkansas in summer 2003. They appeared as a series of 10 circles as large as 9 meters (30 ft) in diameter. Two more appeared in the following years – one in 2004 in Peach Orchard and another in Delaplaine three years later, two towns less than five miles apart. In recent years, more designs have been popping up in southern areas of the state as well.

There’s not much evidence to support ET being behind the crop circles, and farmers are similarly skeptical that it’s the work of pranksters. As of this writing, though, no one has come forward claiming responsibility.

    6. The Crawford Disappearance

Arkansas was a hotbed for mob activity in the first half of the 20th century. Al Capone was a frequent visitor to the state in the 1920s, spending ample time in Hot Springs to bet on horse races at Oaklawn and relax in some of the many bathhouses that lined Central Avenue. Naturally, a state this friendly to mobsters was bound to have a fair amount of shady business deals. That’s where Maud Crawford came in.

A well-known public figure in Camden and a pioneer for women in Arkansas, Crawford worked as a court stenographer before she decided to take the bar exam. Having had no formal legal classes, she aced the exam and eventually became an expert in abstract and title law. At the time of her disappearance, she was even assisting Sen. John McClellan with a congressional investigation into supposed mob ties with organized labor. Crawford’s last known whereabouts place her at home.

Her husband, Clyde, returned to their house to find her car still in the driveway, the TV on, and money in her purse. Their supposed guard dog wasn’t even fazed. The police began searching for her the next morning, but found few clues as to what could have caused her disappearance. Her body was never recovered.

In the mid-1980s, a series of articles in The Arkansas Gazette alleged that her disappearance involved Arkansas State Police Commissioner Mike Berg. Crawford was looking into a potentially illegal transfer of assets between Berg and some of his family members. Only days before disappearing, she had confronted him face-to-face about the issue. According to the articles, Odis A. Henley, the officer originally assigned to the case, reported to his superiors that all the evidence he uncovered implicated Berg as her killer. This contradicted official statements from the Ouachita Sheriff’s department that they had yet to turn up any clues in her disappearance.

His findings did little to sway the rest of the force, Henry recounted, and he was reportedly told by his superiors that “there’s too much money involved” before being reassigned. Adding to the intrigue, all of his files on Crawford disappeared after a short trip away from the office. Legally declared dead by Ouachita County in 1969, Crawford’s death was found to be the result of “foul play perpetrated by person or persons unknown.”

    5. The Guy Earthquake Swarms

A small community just north of Little Rock, Guy wasn’t accustomed to drawing national attention. That all changed in 2010, when a series of relatively minor earthquakes shook the town. The first swarm struck in fall 2010, with most quakes registering under 2.0 on the Richter scale, meaning not everyone in town may have felt or even noticed the shaking. However, the swarms continued over the next two years and increased in magnitude, with one reaching as high as 4.7 in February 2011.

With the trembling becoming more noticeable, residents began to wonder if the quakes were a result of hydraulic fracturing techniques being used to drill for oil and gas in the area. The Arkansas Geological Survey was called out to investigate, and while the group noted that there is some evidence that fracking can cause minor earthquakes, they found no link between the drilling and these particular swarms.

Earthquake swarms aren’t entirely unusual in Arkansas. The state’s had a handful of them before, but none have reached the magnitude of those in Guy. Through 2013, over 500 quakes have rocked the town. As northeast corner of Arkansas was home to one of the country’s most violent swarms – the 1811-12 New Madrid earthquakes – the seemingly endless quakes have left some residents particularly on edge.

    4. The Moonlight Murders

The sleepy town of Texarkana was shaken by a series of vicious slayings in the spring of 1946. The white-hooded “Phantom Killer” preyed on young couples who escaped to secluded areas late at night. He was only active for a three-week period between April and May, but in that span, he attacked eight people, killing five. In an effort to halt the violence and capture the suspect, police put the city under lockdown each day at dusk, patrolling the streets in heavily armed patrols.

Just as mysteriously as the killings started, however, they subsided. Police quickly orchestrated an intense investigation. Key witnesses were examined, leads were hunted down, evidence was poured over – but nothing concrete ever came from it. All investigators could confirm was that the killer was a man who wore a white hood, preferred to attack young people late at night in isolated areas, and often used a gun to kill his victims.

Relatively little new information ever surfaced in subsequent years. Adding to the creepiness of the case, some self-proclaimed web-sleuths havetenuously linked the Phantom with San Francisco’s notorious Zodiac Killer. They cite both killers’ specific victims, method of operation, preferred murder weapon, and the similar – albeit stretched – time period as evidence of a connection.

Nearly three decades after the investigation hit a dead end, Texarkana’s Charles B. Pierce made a movie loosely based off of the events, titled The Town That Dreaded Sundown. A remake is tentatively scheduled to start production later this year.

    3. The Edwards Murder

In the 1970s, Arkansas wasn’t the most hospitable place for an unwed mother of three. When Linda Edwards got a job as dispatcher for the Garland County Sheriff’s Office, she considered it a godsend – but just six months after joining the force, she vanished. Rumors began to circulate that the man she had been having an affair with, Sgt. Thurman Abernathy, had gotten her pregnant. She wanted to keep the baby, he didn’t. When a fight broke out between the two, he allegedly killed her. Along with their stormy relationship, further implicating Abernathy in her murder was testimony from Edwards’ friend, Mary Patterson, who told police that Edwards was going to meet Abernathy the night she disappeared.

While the missing person’s case dragged on for close to a year, things took a frightening turn when a hunter stumbled upon Edwards’ partially buried remains in the woods. Medical examiners reported that she died from blunt-force trauma to her skull. A few months later, Abernathy was formally charged with her murder.

Knowing that most of the evidence against him was hearsay, Abernathy decided to appeal his case. While the appeal wound its way through the courts, the case was passed along to newly appointed prosecutor Dan Harmon. Harmon dropped all charges against Abernathy, who had recently been promoted to lieutenant. A grand jury agreed with him, citing insufficient evidence. Despite an intense statewide investigation, no tangible evidence has ever surfaced linking Abernathy to Edwards’ murder, and the caseremains unsolved.

    2. John Glasgow Vanishes

The idea that someone could complete disappear in the digital age seems rather implausible, but that’s exactly what John Glasgow did in 2008. Whether it was by choice, though, we’ll never know. A prominent figure in the Little Rock construction industry, Glasgow was raking in a seven-figure salary as CEO of CDI Contractors when he – allegedly – backed out of his driveway at 5:15 a.m. on January 28 to leave for work. That’s the last time anyone ever saw him.

It’s never been confirmed that the person reversing his black SUV was him, but when his office called his wife later that day asking where he was, she knew something was terribly wrong. It was unusual for husband not to keep in touch. Within hours, she had organized a search party. They traveled to Petit Jean Mountain, the location of his last cell phone signal, and found his SUV parked outside the Mather Lodge. Inside the vehicle they recovered his phone, two credit cards, and his laptop. The only items missing were his keys and wallet. The trail went cold from there.

In the days following his disappearance, rumors started circulating. Some said that it was a result of his “strained” relationship with Dillard’s, the parent company of CDI, as he was being audited at the time. Friends said he was anxious over it. Others countered that he was in “good spirits” before he vanished. Eventually, Glasgow and his company were cleared of anything illegal by the audit. However, investigators noted that Glasgow received a hefty bonus before he vanished. They thought maybe that was evidence of a possible ransom or extortion, but the money in his bank accounts hasn’t been touched.

The case took a strange turn in 2012, when Jonathan Brawner, a convicted felon and prison barber at the Faulkner County jail, made local headlines after claiming that he and a few accomplices had buried Glasgow four years prior. An exhaustive search of the area returned no corroborating evidence, however, and new evidence of his whereabouts has yet to surface.

    1. The Train Deaths

Arguably the state’s most notorious cold case, the mysterious deaths of Don Henry and Kevin Ives still haunt Central Arkansas. In the early morning hours of August 23, 1987, the mangled bodies of Henry and Ives were discovered on a set of railroad tracks in Bryant, a suburb just south of Little Rock. The train’s engineer didn’t see the boys in time to stop. He told police that they were laying motionless on the tracks, parallel to one another with their arms straight down at their sides, their bodies partially covered by a green tarp.

The initial investigation was swift. Police ruled their deaths accidental, with the state medical examiner declaring that they were under the influence of marijuana and had passed out on the tracks. However, the boys’ parents didn’t agree with that conclusion – they were certain their sons died of foul play. After fighting to get the case reopened, they finally succeed in early 1988 when a new prosecutor was assigned to the case. One of Richard Garrett’s first directives was to have the bodies exhumed for further examination.

His findings where chilling, to say the least. Medical examiners reported that both boys had suffered injuries prior to the train accident. Henry’s shirt was in tatters, with lacerations all over his body indicative of stabbing. Ives, meanwhile, had blunt force trauma to his skull. Examiners concluded that both were dead before being run over by the train. The reported green tarp was never seen again.

Then things got weirder. Witnesses came forward with testimony that they’d seen police officers beating the boys “senseless” before tossing them in the back of a truck and speeding off. Others reported seeing a man in military fatigues loitering near the section of tracks where the boys’ bodies were discovered. Speculation began to rise, with many residents wondering if the boys had simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Maybe they had seen a “drug drop” that was connected to alleged cocaine smuggling via the Mena Airport. Others insisted that they saw a Bryant official – that Dan Harmon fellow we mentioned earlier, to be exact – partaking in a drug deal, and the boys were simply victims of being potential witnesses that could jeopardize a political career. Harmon was later arrested on charges for running a drug ring, selling primarily cocaine, from his office.

The parents did see some justice from all these developments. A grand jury reversed its original verdict of “probable homicide” to “definite homicide” and Arkansans haven’t forgotten the boys on the tracks. Residents honored their memory with a memorial last spring. After 25 years, though, it appears as if the case will forever remain unsolved.
