Many scientists today are opposed to the concept of God. Perhaps that's because modern science really can't stand infinity –– or the stage where a physical theory breaks down.
The ancient Indians and Greeks did not describe infinity with precise measurement, as current mathematicians try to do, but instead dealt with infinity as a philosophical insight. In Judaism, the Infinite Being (Ein-Sof) is often used romantically to represent eternal love or the “happily ever after.” Spiritual people accept as true that all life is contained within a vast field of infinite being.
Nevertheless, most materialists tend to believe in nothing. Mathematicians became skeptical of the notion of infinity in the late 1800s. John Wallis first used the notation ∞ for such a number in the 17th century. It was assumed by some physicists that no measurable quantity could have an infinite value. If an object of infinite value were to exist, any formula to calculate a transformed value would lead to an infinite result, which would be of no help since the result would be always the same. Infinity cannot be added to itself.
Since there were no experimental means to generate an infinite quantity, it was thought impossible for any physical body to have infinite mass or infinite energy. However, today there exist theoretical circumstances where the end result is infinity. One example is the description of black holes. The equations of the general theory of relativity allow for volume distributions of zero size, and consequently infinite mass. This is called a mathematical singularity.
Mathematicians are quick to point out that a singularity is the place where physical theories break down and modern science fails –– or encounters serious limitations. But need that be so?
In 1905, Albert Einstein published the theory of special relativity. Dealing with relative time dilation and length contraction, Einstein showed that the speed of light in a vacuum corresponds to infinity. Thus, when mathematical equations run into physical infinities, what would happen if ∞ were replaced with the speed of light? Maybe such formulas are still usable and do not break down.
Modern science has the same aversion to mathematical zero. The pre-Socratic Greek philosopher, Zeno of Elea, gave the earliest demonstrable accounts of mathematical infinity and showed that zero represents negative infinity. We can consider +∞ and -∞ as the same. The division of a physical quantity into smaller and smaller fractions (or infinitesimal quantities) also decreases without bound –– representing the concept of infinity.
If positive infinity can be replaced with the speed of light, what can be said of zero or negative infinity? Absolute zero is the temperature (-273.15C) at which all motion in matter stops and is believed to be impossible. While infinity is the fastest motion that a physical body can attain, zero is no motion at all. As a result, near-zero temperature represents a state of matter known as a Bose-Einstein condensate in which all bosons in matter fall into the same quantum state, also called a superatom. It is connected to the scientific principle of order and entropy (or disorder) according to the famous Second Law of Thermodynamics. But because a superatom is a non-thermal system, it is not subject to the second law –– and perfect order is equivalent to absolute zero.
Once we recognize that zero and infinity are not meager abstractions, but actually correspond to velocities of bodies in motion, we tend to see the world differently –– and readily bow to new possibilities. However, there also persists an uncompromising refusal to acknowledge the reality of infinity.
The German mathematician Georg Cantor published many papers related to infinity during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He identified the Absolute Infinite with God, but received pitiless condemnation. Henri Poincaré referred to Cantor's work as a disease infecting the discipline of mathematics. Leopold Kronecker described him as a charlatan and a corrupter of youth. Christian theologians saw Cantor's work as a challenge to the uniqueness of the infinite nature of God. As a result, the inventor of set theory suffered from chronic depression or bipolar disorder. Georg Cantor died in a mental institution where he had spent the final year of his life.
When I enlarged this UFO, I see that its really not a reflection. Its not made of light. Its a solid object that is in the sky. I feel that the UFO in the area was drawn there by the appearance of the rainbow and that the aliens were intrigued by it. This person was lucky enough to catch them in a digital photo, because the digital eye is capable of seeing light beyond the human eye spectrum. This UFO as you can see, can separate into two different ships. Good catch. SCW
News states (rough translation from Polish): UFO over Szczecin? Object (s) not to explain captured on PICTURE
We wanted to immortalize a beautiful rainbow, and photographed TO – wrote a letter to Szczecin readers with Warzymice.
I sent a photo taken on Sunday from the window of an apartment in Warzymicach.
We wanted to immortalize a beautiful rainbow that appeared in the sky, and in the evening, we watched effects, we pay attention to the object in the left corner of the photo. Certainly there was then no aircraft in the sky, otherwise it does not look like an airplane. Please each image to enlarge and look at the strange object. Maybe it’s actually a UFO over Szczecin?
Indeed, the object (or two objects) do not resemble anything that could be easily explained.
This is not a reflection of the lamp
In the early afternoon image as author, Mr. Marcus Warzymice, sent us another email, which refers to the critical comments that appeared on the forum under the text. He wrote:
I am the author of this photo and denies that the lamp was turned on when taking pictures. In addition, the images I took a few, and these “objects” are visible on only one. I do not know what it is, but certainly it is not a reflection of any lamp or light from the room, because any, was not included. Outside it was already very clear and sunny.
And he said to us Mr Maciej, who also took pictures of the rainbow in Warzymicach:
Hello, here are my pictures of UFOs, but the fact that the rainbow was beautiful and worthy of perpetuation.
Recently news site kramola.info.russia interviewed the officer of the Russian army Eugene Gavrikov.
He tells about his personal experience in Antarctica and argues that there really is a pyramid hidden in the midst of cold icy mountains and there are traces of military infrastructure left by the Third Reich and there are signs of activity from the past.
Furthermore, Gavrikov states that the United States is aware of what actually happens in Antarctica where satellites showed the Ozon hole which could not be attributed to human activities but is generated by something more mysterious.

US military’s plans for flying saucers explained in declassified documents
Newly released diagrams show scale of the future that never was after air force cancelled funding for wobbly disc-shaped craft
A US military illustration from Project 1794 strongly resembles a flying saucer. Photograph: national archives
These days, flying saucers are most commonly associated with sci-fi films and conspiracy theories, but in the 1950s, some saw them as the future of aviation.
Details of the proposed craft have been around for years. But the declassified papers include new diagrams and documents that demonstrate the scale of the project’s ambition.
The US air force contracted the work to a now-defunct Canadian company, Avro. In one document, Avro envisaged a “top speed potential between Mach 3 and Mach 4, a ceiling of over 100,000ft and a maximum range with allowances of about 1,000 nautical miles”. That would have sent the flying saucer spinning into the Earth’s stratosphere.
Language in a report labelled “final development summary” was optimistic: “It is concluded that the stabilization and control of the aircraft in the manner proposed – the propulsive jets are used to control the aircraft – is feasible and the aircraft can be designed to have satisfactory handling through the whole flight range from ground cushion take-off to supersonic flight at very high altitude.”
Such lofty ambitions were never achieved; video footage of other disc-shaped crafts constructed by Avro show a machine wobbling uncertainly around 3ft off the ground.
The cost for the endeavour is listed as $3,168,000, which Wired estimates at $26.6m in today’s money.
Sadly, the project was cancelled and the craft were never built.
Hurrah! Stick some wings on your tank and watch it fly. Apparently “initial tests were successful“, but clearly flying tanks did not become the ‘terrible machine of destruction’ envisaged in the 1930s. More robust aeroplanes meant tanks were placed inside aircraft, rather than strapped underneath.
Massive ‘gas-shooting’ riot car
Apparently this vehicle was designed to control crowds ”and put a stop to riots at any cost”. The concept, which was patented by a Brooklyn based-company, would have spurted poisonous gas at any ne’er-do-wells, or alternatively soaked them with water. Or just shot them with machine guns. Options.
Bell rocket belt
After it was built for the US army in the 1960s, John F Kennedy was treated to a rocket-belt display in October 1961. The device used hydrogen peroxide as fuel – the belt-wearer was advised to wear insulating trousers – and could carry a man over 9m high obstacles at speeds of up to 10mph. Unfortunately it could only do so for about 20 seconds, and it was not put into widespread use by the military.
Unidentified submerged objects (USOs) are not as famous as UFOs although they are often encountered, according to declassified Russian Navy records. The common trait of all USO phenomena is that they involve unexplained and technologically advanced objects, far superior to anything we’ve ever built.
The recently declassified documents contain Soviet era reports detailing many cases of possible USO encounters. Former naval officer and Russian UFO researcher Vladimir Azhazha believes these documents are of great value. One of the most interesting cases he examined involved a nuclear submarine on a combat mission in the Southern Pacific. During the routine operation, the submarine detected six unknown objects traveling in formation at speeds in excess of 230 knots (265+ mph). In comparison, the fastest submarine was the Soviet K-222, which reached about 44 knots (51 mph).
The submarine’s sonar determined the objects were heading straight for it so the captain gave the order to surface. The USOs followed them to the surface then flew away. Similar instances have been reported in the region of the Bermuda Triangle, as retired submarine commander Yuri Beketov recalls. On-board instruments often malfunctioned, indicating the presence of strong interference. Many believe this is a clear sign of USO/UFO presence.
A still image taken from YouTube shows a mysterious bright object flying over the Calbuco volcano near Chile
YouTube
An unidentified flying object was spotted hovering near the erupting Calbuco volcano of Chile sparking UFO sighting rumours all over again.
The suspected UFO was captured by a woman on her camera when she was trying to videograph the volcano that erupted on 22 April after more than 42 years.
The supposed alien craft with flashing twin lights was spotted in the sky amidst the clouds of dust and ash. However, moments later the flying object disappeared into the thick fiery sky.
After the video was uploaded on YouTube on 23 April by a user named Ana Luisa Cid, it has gone viral and has garnered more than 288,000 views.
Open Mind UFO says that the video uploader Ana Luisa has pointed out that some have suggested the bright object might be a drone or helicopter which is trying to capture the aerial footage of the volcano.
However, she points out, “What is striking, in my opinion, is that the object remained static, then vanished. Optical illusion?”
Nearly 4,000 local residents were forced to evacuate as ash and smoke engulfed the sky.
Meanwhile, TVN, Chile’s state-owned television network, has posted an aerial shot of the volcano eruption and there are chances that the supposed UFO is nothing but a helicopter.
Watch the video below.
Chile news channel T13 has also posted a story on 23 April about a “pilot who was mistaken for a UFO.” They have also interviewed the pilot who was allegedly flying over the Calbuco volcano trying to take aerial shots.
HUMMING FLYING SAUCER SPOTTED IN MICHIGAN MAY 19, 2015 ………… EATON RAPIDS MICHIGAN
At 4:00 am my dog woke me up at this unusual time for her to go outside. I went out and looked up to notice a flying saucer object with moving red and white lights. I rubbed my eyes in disbelief looked up again to see that it was there. I watched as it was approximately 100 feet above the tree lines moving about 25 mph NW for about 5 minutes before it was out of my view. There were red lights underneath on the outside then next to it were white lights; the lights were moving slowly in a pattern. The dog did not bark as she was looking around the ground sniffing. The craft was making a loud but soft humming noise that almost sounded like a loud fan from an aircraft. The sound got louder and hummed fast for a few seconds, then went to a soft hum and slowly for a few seconds.
It did this the whole time. The craft itself seemed to be about 100 ft. circumference. It was a clear night with lots of beautiful stars. I had never seen anything like this before and I was not afraid, but just mesmerized. I will NEVER forget the noise or the visual observation of this craft.
Latest release of ‘X-files’ shows MoD took idea of alien visitors seriously
Britain’s defence intelligence agency considered the possibility of alien craft visiting Earth and asked “UFO desk officers” to monitor any potential threat from outer space, hitherto top secret documents released on Thursday show.
Thousands of pages of highly classified files document how officials in the Ministry of Defence were worried they would be accused by the public of not taking UFOs seriously enough, and how some thought there really could be someone out there. “It was important to appreciate that what is scientific ‘fact’ today may not be true tomorrow,” a defence intelligence officer warned in August 1993.
He pointed out: “It was only a few hundred years ago that ‘scientists’ believed that the Earth was the centre of the universe.” He added: “It was generally agreed until early this century that the atom could not be split.”
Sightings of alleged UFOs could be explained by very strange-shaped clouds, ball lightning, or US “black” (secret project) aircraft, the unidentified official suggested.
“If the sightings are of devices not of the Earth, then their purpose needs to be established as a matter of priority. There had been no apparently hostile intent and other possibilities are one, military reconnaissance; two, scientific; three, tourism.”
The clearly frustrated intelligence official observed that the MoD might have taken the prospect more seriously if UFOs had “a red star painted on them”, a reference to the Soviet Union.
Some intelligence officials were excited about the prospect of harnessing rare atmospheric plasmas initially claimed to be UFOs, such as ball lightning, for novel weapons technology. One even suggested that if craft from outer space really did exist, the MoD could adopt their stealth technology.
Most officials in the MoD were deeply sceptical. Papers released today show that back in 1979, a UFO intelligence officer wondered why aliens would want to visit “an insignificant planet [the Earth] of an uninteresting star [the sun]“.
But officials had to cover their backs because of persistent claims of UFO sightings and questions from the public. MPs also regularly returned to the subject, requiring answers from the prime minister. In 2009, before he was elected, David Cameron promised to publish Whitehall’s remaining secret files on UFOs.
“I don’t think any of us have any clue whether there’s intelligent life out there, and it is certainly not something that any government should seek to hide from anyone,” he said.
John Major told MPs in 1996: “The government has no plans to allocate resources to researching extraterrestrial phenomena.”
The MoD did, however, decide to devote more resources on a study as officials warned Tony Blair he could expect even more questions following the passing of the Freedom of Information Act. A MoD official reported in 2000 that the study concluded: “Many of sightings can be explained as mis-reporting of man-made vehicles, [and] natural but unusual phenomena.”
In a valedictory note in December 2008, the last unidentified “UFO desk officer” – described yesterday by David Clarke of Sheffield Hallam University, author of The UFO Files, as “one of the strangest jobs in Whitehall” – wrote to the RAF’s operations headquarters in High Wycombe. “The MoD’s position on UFOs, aliens and extra terrestrials is quite clear. We know of no evidence to confirm the existence of aliens, spaceships, extra terrestrials etc, or if they have visited the Earth.”
Suggestions that there were secret teams of scientists “scurrying around the country in a real-life version of the X-files” was “total fiction”.
But in a perhaps reassuring conclusion, the officer continued: “However, since the universe is a very large place and mankind has only explored a very small corner of it, we cannot rule out the existence of intelligent life on other planets. We therefore remain open minded on the topic. In the absence of proof either way, this position seems a perfectly sensible one. However, as you can probably guess, the above position does not make very interesting headlines nor, I suspect, would sell many books”.
UFO ‘sightings’
Ministers and the MoD have been inundated with claims of many hundreds of sightings of aliens. They include: two tall silver-suited “faceless humanoids” in Wales, three tall “men in black” in Spalding, Lincolnshire, and “golden orbs” across Britain – the result of a craze for releasing sky lanterns.
A mounted police officer reported a sighting of a “square/diamond shaped object moving across the sky and changing shape” while on duty at Chelsea football ground in 1999.
Files released on Thursday show the MoD recorded “UFO sightings” throughout the UK, from the Orkney Islands to Cornwall, and in Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Thailand, New Zealand and the US.
There’s an old saying that the best place to hide a book is in a library. The latest Ministry of Defence UFO files released to the National Archives contain more than 6,000 pages of documentation, so if there was a memo somewhere in there saying the MoD had a crashed spaceship hidden away in an RAF hangar somewhere, it might not be found.
Before I start all manner of conspiracy theories with that remark, however, I should say that there is no such memo and no such spaceship – and I say that as someone who spent three years of my 21-year MoD career working on this issue.
This is the fifth batch of UFO files to be made available and is part of an ongoing three-year programme to release the entire archive. The decision to release the files was taken in 2007, to deal with the administrative burden of responding to requests made under the Freedom of Information Act. At one time, MoD was receiving more FOI requests on UFOs than on any other subject.
The newly released files cover the period 1994 to 2000. It’s interesting to note that the cult TV series The X-Files was at the height of its popularity at this time. Might this have influenced people making UFO reports?
I’m sceptical about the link between science fiction and UFO sightings. While the popularity of The X-Files might make some people speculate about aliens and government cover-ups, there’s no evidence to suggest that sci-fi films and TV shows influence people’s perceptions of anything strange that they see. Given the current stratospheric popularity of the blockbuster movie Avatar, if people were being influenced by sci-fi in the way suggested, we’d be inundated with reports of people seeing blue aliens. We’re not!
So, how do the MoD’s real-life Mulders and Scullys compare to their fictional counterparts? Having done the job myself, from 1991 to 1994, I’m sorry to have to report that it’s not quite as glamorous as people might suspect. There’s no running around dark warehouses with guns and torches. It’s more a case of asking colleagues in the RAF to check the radar tapes and writing polite letters back to members of the public, stating that most UFOs turn out to be misidentifications of ordinary objects and phenomena.
For those with the patience to wade through 6,000 pages of documents, it’s a mixed bag. There’s a great deal of mundane correspondence between the MoD and the public, together with a vast number of UFO sightings which are clearly aircraft lights, satellites or meteors. But there is some more interesting material.
As one reads the files, one can sense the MoD’s growing irritation with the subject – an irritation that arguably culminated on 1 December 2009 when the MoD finally disengaged altogether and announced that they would no longer be investigating UFO sightings reported by the public. Some of the files are entitled “persistent correspondent”. This is a coded way of saying “this person is becoming a nuisance”. As will be seen in future file releases – the last files won’t be released until 2011 – this frustration boiled over when the Freedom of Information Act came fully into force.
Another sign of the MoD’s “corporate irritation” with the subject is revealed in the response to somebody who claimed to have been kidnapped by aliens (it’s not just UFOs; these real-life X-Files include material on other mysteries such as alien abductions and crop circles). The person concerned had written to ask about MoD policy on alien abductions and pointed out that if the experience was real, the MoD was failing to maintain the territorial integrity of UK airspace – a core defence mission. After explaining the MoD’s role with respect to UFOs, the somewhat sniffy response stated: “Abduction is a criminal offence and as such is a matter for the civil police.”
This conjures up the bizarre thought of a flying saucer landed on the side of a road, with a bemused constable leaning through the entrance hatch saying, “Excuse me sir, have you any idea how fast you were going?”
Thanks to the UFO files release, the truth is out there
UFO festival in Roswell, New Mexico Photograph: Ted Soqui/Corbis
Afterfive years of a rolling disclosure programme, the contents of Britain’s “UFO files” are no longer a secret. In total 209 files and approximately 52,000 pages of information on unidentified things in the sky, collected by the Ministry of Defence, have been made available to the public by the National Archives. But what have we learned from the mountain of paperwork that has slowly emerged into the public domain since the project began in May 2008?
Do these documents prove that we have been visited by creatures from outer space in flying saucers? And has that fact been covered up by the governments of the world?
And if the answer to those questions is an emphatic “no”, then why were they closed from public scrutiny for so long? Why is the government releasing them now? And how can anyone be sure they contain the truth?
It is worth pointing out this unique project involved the largest release of documents younger than 20 years in the MoD’s entire history. Their aim in opening them ahead of their normal release date was to achieve greater openness.
They believed this would help counter what they described as “the maze of rumour and frequently ill-informed speculation” that surrounded their involvement, both real and imagined, in the investigation of UFOs.
This commitment to openness has been appreciated by the public, as the statistics collated by staff at the National Archives proves. Since the first UFO document release, more than 4.7m pages have been viewed by more than 3 million visitors from more than 160 countries around the world.
Furthermore, the blanket media coverage of the 10 file releases brought news of the project to an estimated global audience of 25 million people.
In all, more than 3.9m documents have been downloaded, and one UFO policy file from 1997 – which contained formerly top secret documents – has been downloaded more than 250,000 times.
In my opinion, the success of this open government programme lies in the fact that, whatever you believe about UFOs and alien life, you can now see for yourself what constitutes the “evidence” and make up your own mind. This is freedom of information working to inform and educate the public.
The files contain details of about 6,000 separate observations reported to the British authorities since 1984. On average, between one and 200 sightings were logged by the “UFO desk” each year, but some years broke records. For instance, in 2009 until November, when the MoD closed their UFO hotline for good, 643 sightings were recorded.
Was this and similar spikes in numbers recorded in 1978 and 1996-97 the result of aliens stepping up their surveillance of earth? Or is it more likely that people’s awareness of the subject, raised by press stories and productions such as Close Encounters or The X-Files, made them more inclined to report their experiences officially?
If the latter is true, and I believe the evidence is overwhelming, then we have to accept that UFOs – whatever their ultimate origin may be – are a social and cultural phenomenon. In the absence of any convincing evidence for the existence of aliens, they are a mystery that has more to do with what we as humans want to believe about our place in the universe.
And if the contents of the files teach us anything, they demonstrate that in the vast majority of examples, UFOs turn out to be IFOs – identified flying objects.
Chinese lanterns and balloons, aircraft (both civilian and military), bright stars and planets, meteors, space junk, unusual weather and rare natural phenomena can explain more than 95% of sightings. And as for the remaining 5%, we should always remember that the “u” in “UFO” stands for “unidentified”, it’s not code for “alien spaceship”.
The sheer number of sightings raises the question of why, after 60 years, no solid, conclusive evidence has ever been produced that could be verified by scientists. Despite mass ownership of advanced digital cameras, not a single convincing photograph of a flying saucer or artefact of extra terrestrial origin has been produced.
Of course there are those who will continue to believe the government has concealed “the truth” in even more top secret files hidden elsewhere. But I think most rational people will accept that the truth about UFOs and the people who see them is actually here, in these files, and not somewhere in outer space.
As the MoD’s last UFO desk officer wrote in 2009, the public was “… starting to get a more accurate impression of our role in UFO matters [and] I sense that realisation is also starting to dawn amongst some ufologists that we do not have hordes of investigators scurrying around the countryside … and that our interest is really quite minimal.”
He added: “Naturally a section of ufologists will never be convinced of that, but frankly, whatever we say, they will choose to believe whatever they believe and we will never convince them otherwise.”

Over five months, 13,500 people claimed to have witnessed large, silent, low-flying black triangles, and around 2,600 of them filed written statements. Sceptics blame helicopters or mass delusions caused by eating chips with mayonnaise.

Presidents Jimmy Carter and Ronald Regan both claim to have seen UFOs. Carter was widely mocked for his 1973 sighting, but the man who eventually succeeded him in the White House also saw a mysterious object – in 1974 above Petersfield, California. Probably wisely, the wily old cowboy kept pretty quiet about it.

Texas motorists reported their engines stalling after encountering a glowing, egg-shaped object – and that their vehicles restarted after it flew past. An investigation concluded that it was down to an electrical storm and “ball lightning”.
Twenty UFOs were spotted and detected by radar around Brazil but reportedly disappeared when military aircraft were sent to intercept them. Experts attributed the sighting to debris ejected by Soviet space station Salyut-7. Of course they did. They would. Right, guys? Guys?
10. Tehran incident, 1976
US military report into a sighting of a UFO over Tehran in 1976. Guardian
A UFO allegedly whizzed over Iran’s capital, disabling the electronic instrumentation of two F-4 Phantom II jets and jamming ground control equipment. Iranian generals said on record that they thought the object was extra-terrestrial. Don’t tell Melanie Phillips.
MILITARY F-4 Jet Chases UFO over Iran Date: September 18, 1976
Location:Tehran, Iran The sequence of events can be reconstructed from both Iranian sources and declassified U.S. intelligence documents: t pay too much attention. The radar system was turned off since it was under repair. After he received the fourth telephone call at 11:15 p.m., Perouzi went to the terrace next to the tower and observed the UFO with binoculars: Suddenly I saw it. It was rectangular in shape, probably seven to eight meters [24 to 27 ft.] long and about two meters [7 ft.] wide.
4 Phantom jet from Shahrokhi AFB to investigate.
The first scramble is summarized in a “Memorandum for Record” from the U.S. Defense Attaché Office (DAO) in Tehran: “The F-4 took off at 01:30 a.m. and proceeded to a point about 40 nm [45 statute miles or 75 km.] North of Tehran. Due to its brilliance the object was easily visible from 70 miles [110 km.] away. As the F-4 approached a range of 25 nm [29 statute miles or 46 km.], he lost all instrumentation and communications (UHF and Intercom). He broke off the intercept and headed back to Shahrokhi. When the F-4 turned away from the object and apparently was no longer a threat to it, the aircraft regained all instrumentation and communications.” At 01:40 a.m., Gen. Yousefi authorized a second F-4 scramble piloted by Lt. Jafari, who quickly established radar contact with the UFO.
The DAO Memorandum describes the events of the second scramble: “The size of the radar return was comparable to that of a [Boeing] 707 tanker. The visual size of the object was difficult to discern because of its intense brilliance. The light that it gave off was that of flashing strobe lights arranged in a rectangular pattern of alternating blue, green, red and orange, in color. The sequence of the lights was so fast that all the colors could be seen at once.”
“The object and the pursuing F-4 continued a course to the south of Tehran when another brightly lighted object, estimated to be .5 to .33 the apparent size of the moon, came out of the original object. The second object headed straight toward the F-4 at a very fast rate. The pilot attempted to fire an AIM-9 missile at the object, but at that instant his weapons control panel went off and he lost all communications (UHF and Interphone). At this point, the pilot initiated a turn and negative G dive to get away.” The aircraft electric system went back to normal once the F-4 reached a certain distance from the UFO.
The small object returned to the primary object, but a second one emerged and flew toward the ground. Gen. Yousefi observed the landing from the balcony of his Tehran residence: “He went down and landed on the ground and now it is a communication between the mothership and that small flying object, and it shows the lights between those two is connected.”
More strange events were still reported that night. A UFO seemed to follow the F-4 as it approached the runway, and a civil airliner experienced communications failure but did not see anything.
The DAO Memorandum describes the investigation early that morning: “During daylight, the F-4 crew was taken out to the area in a helicopter where the object apparently had landed. Nothing was noticed at the spot where they thought the object landed (a dry lake bed), but as they circled off to the West of the area they picked up a very noticeable beeper signal. At that point, where the return was the loudest was a small house with a garden. They landed and asked the people within if they had noticed anything strange last night. The people talked about a loud noise and a very bright light like lightning.”
It's Raining Spiders In Australia, And That Excites UFO Believers
It's Raining Spiders In Australia, And That Excites UFO Believers
This month, the weather reports from down under are downright terrible for arachnophobes. That’s because the story that it has literally been raining down baby spiders in one part of Australia appears credible, according to scientists.
Clouds of millions of baby spiders were spotted falling out of the sky upon the so-called southern tablelands of New South Wales earlier this month, coating parts of the countryside and even some homes with the strands of their webs that they rode upon the wind.
“What happens is that during a particular time of the year, particularly in May and August, young spiders in the Outback somewhere throw these threads of spiderwebs up in the air and use them as a parachute to detach themselves from the ground and move in large colonies through the sky,” one local retiree named Keith Basterfield told the Goulburn Post newspaper.
Basterfield also took the opportunity to request the public to send him samples of the spider web material, which is also sometimes called “angel hair.” The paper obliged, publishing his post office box where the public can send their samples.
But there’s a hidden, more bizarre side to angel hair that might be compelling this retiree to ask for spider web donations. Basterfield is well known in the UFO research community, having published a few books over the years on the topic. He’s also been cataloging and analyzing Australian instances of angel hair since at least 2001.

Why? Well, it could be because many UFO enthusiasts and researchers believe that some instances of angel hair could actually be a mysterious substance created by the interaction of a UFO or its electromagnetic field with Earth’s atmosphere.
So, there’s that.
But in this particular instance, both Basterfield and scientists seem to be in agreement that what fell onto Australian fields this month was probably drifting spider webs.
Naturalist Martyn Robinson from the Australian Museum told the Sydney Morning Herald that spiders that release a streamer of their silk web into the breeze can sometimes travel long distances this way en masse.
“You can have entire fields and paddocks and trees festooned with this gossamer or Angel Hair, as some people call it,” he said, also stressing that it is unlikely that these flying flocks of spiders are poisonous or otherwise harmful.
Of course, if we’re talking about alien spiders riding on angel hair created by UFO exhaust, perhaps there is some reason for concern.

Why Did Our Ancestors Inter This Ancient Massive Architectural Wonder?
Located at the highest point of the Germus range in the southeastern Anatolia region of Turkey is the mysterious site of Göbekli Tepe. Excavations at Göbekli Tepe commenced in 1995 after German archaeologist Klaus Schmidt realized what was thought to be a Byzantine cemetery was actually a prehistoric site. Schmidt quickly unearthed a number of T-shaped pillars, which set the archeological world ablaze. It was not only the discovery of this ancient massive and magnificent location but also what researchers determined to be the period of its construction. Samples taken placed the earliest parts of the edifice during the Pre-Pottery Neolithic A Period some 12,000 years ago.
Excavations and geomagnetic results of this mountain top complex have revealed at least 20 circular structures. The enclosures all appear to have similar design elements. In the center of each circle stand two monumental t-shaped pillars. They are surrounded by a series of smaller t-shaped limestone pillars that radiate out from the center of each circular chamber and stand against or near a low retaining wall, made up of unworked hewn stones. The pillars vary in height from 3 to 6 meters and weigh between 40 to 60 tons. Many of them are decorated with pictograms and carvings of animals including lions, bulls, boars, foxes, gazelles, donkeys, snakes, insects, and birds. Included among these carvings are several in which anthropomorphic human figures are depicted. The floors of these enclosures are terrazzo, a mixture of burnt lime and clay that is polished.
The discovery of Göbekli Tepe perplexed archaeologists. How could a group of hunter/gatherers construct such a complex monument? Smaller structures that demonstrated an advancing progression toward this overwhelming achievement are absent from the archeological record. What also confounds them is the realization that the most complex, ornate portions of this unique site are the oldest. Sections that date to later periods of construction show a significant deterioration to the quality of design and artisanship when compared to earlier portions.
Investigations into Göbekli Tepe have primarily focused on why the complex was initially constructed. Was it a ritualistic center? An astronomical observatory? Or something more? They yearn to explain how our ancestors were able to accomplish such a grandiose feat of architecture and engineering. They seek to reveal the secrets held in the mysterious carving found on the upright pillars. The answers, like all that has been found at this unique location, have been obscure.
The riddle that surrounds Göbekli Tepe does not end there. Around 8,000 BCE Göbekli Tepe was intentionally buried. Why would our forefathers, after creating such an elaborate complex, decide to backfill it? The reason eludes investigators. Some believe it was covered to preserve it for future generations. Others contend that an outside group with a different belief system invaded the region. This new group hid the site to facilitate the purging of old religious beliefs.
These conjectures may explain why the twenty-two acres that make up the complex were hidden under a mixture of stone tools, animal bones and flint gravel. To unravel why the entire construction was entombed it is important to understand the hearts and minds of our ancestors. What was the world like for our forbearers? What did they hold true? What did they believe in, fear or revere? A concept that was pervasive in antiquity that easily explains why Göbekli Tepe was covered up was because the entire complex may have been considered “taboo”.
Taboo (tabu/tapu) is a Polynesian word that is associated with a person, place or thing that is prohibited or banned. Something can be considered too sacred or too accursed that it is excluded, separated or forbidden. The consequence of interacting with a forbidden item is the threat of supernatural punishment.
The concept of items being prohibited is not limited to Polynesia. The banning of an item in ancient and indigenous cultures is universal. It is only in our current society that the implication of the word taboo has changed. The deeply held belief in divine intervention and retribution often associated with something illicit has been abandoned. We use the word taboo in contemporary vernacular to identify something that is deemed improper, unacceptable or objectionable by society in general. Other than social scorn, the penalties previously tied to something forbidden are no longer applied.
Many things in today’s social climate are seen as being aberrant and are deemed taboo. Worldwide there are rules that prohibit sexual intercourse (incest) between different degrees of kinship. Cannibalism, or the practice of consuming human flesh, still is considered sacrilegious. The same holds true for necrophilia, the sleeping or having sexual relations with a dead person. It has only been in very recent times that our view towards inter-racial, inter-religious or homosexual unions has changed, moving them from being taboo to having varied levels of social acceptability.
Ancient taboos have survived into modern times in many cultures. They are prevalent in Judaism where a large number of prohibitions are still observed by conservative Jews. The consumption of animals that have cloven hooves and chews its cud is permitted in this religious tradition. Camels, rabbit and pork, none of which have both of these qualities, are forbidden. Shellfish, such as lobsters, oysters, shrimp, clams and crabs are all prohibited. Any product that is derived from these forbidden animals, such as their milk, eggs, fat, or organs also cannot be eaten. The Torah bans the consumption of blood. It also forbids eating meat and dairy together.
These prohibitions also extend to the pots, pans, plates and utensils used to cook and eat the food. If a pot or pan, for example, is used to cook meat and then later used to heat milk, it is believed that meat and milk have just been mixed (basar bechalav) and the forbidden status has now been transmitted to the pan, taking away its proper, “kosher” status. The pan is now taboo.
A vast number of things were universally prohibited in antiquity and included touching or coming in contact with a corpse. This rendered the mourners and anyone else involved with the passing of an individual impure. The house the deceased live in, in some cultures, was torn down, burned with all of his or her possessions inside or deserted, never to be used again. Menstruating woman were perceived as being unclean and contact with them was forbidden. Women, during their cycle, were quarantined to prevent contaminating other members of society. To mitigate exposure, huts or tents were erected on the edge of the village and women during this period were required to spend their time in them. Touching a woman during this interval, an item she touched, sat or laid upon would contaminate the other person.
Taboos ruled the lives of our predecessors. Their belief in their power was commanding. There was a mysterious and dangerous quality to them. A person who was exposed to something that was prohibited was perceived as being infected. The infection they carried was communicable and life threatening. The taboo, like a rampant virus, would infect anyone the contagious individual encountered. Instead of worrying about the aches and pains of a physical malady, they dreaded the retribution of the gods for transgressing a divine command. Stories have emerged of individuals getting sick and dying after being infected by this powerful charm. These stories, like fairy tales, further supported the power taboos held over a community.
Once something was deemed improper or unclean it was only by means of cleansing and ritual purification that its taboo status could be lifted. The use of water as a vehicle of purification is consistent in most cultures. The act of washing, whether water is sprinkled on the body, the hands and face are washed or the entire body is immersed, seems widespread in eliminating ones unclean or improper status. Fasting, praying, animal sacrifices and smudging were also methods employed to remove specific taboos.
Not everything that was “unclean” was considered taboo. Things that were holy fell into this category, rendering persons, places or things prohibited as well. It is easy to imagine the perceived toxicity of something that is conceived of as being unclean. It is hard for us to envision how contact with something that is holy would produce the same result. Sacred items in antiquity were believed to belong to the gods and were forbidden to man. They were to be avoided, kept away from and not touched. They were only accessible to a select few. These ordained individuals fasted and purified themselves prior to contact with the divine.
Hallowed items followed the same rules as unclean ones. Blood, with the exception of menstrual blood, was inherently viewed as being sacred. It was the essence of life. This included human blood as well as animal blood. It was not to be touched and as we learn from Jewish tradition consumed. Anything that blood fell upon was rendered taboo making it unusable for common purposes.
This prohibition extended to the individual who shed the blood. Priests and holy men who performed ritual sacrifice were uniquely qualified to interact with this holy liquid. Animals were not hunted, caught and killed in the irreverent way they are today. Rituals were performed before the hunt began as well as when the animals were slaughtered and butchered. There was a deep respect for the animal and its role in their lives. The godswere thanked after a successful hunt and the spirit of the animal praised for being willing to participate in their success.
Certain animals (totem animals) were especially revered because they were associated with a god or the presence of a god. They were not to be killed unless it was part of a ritual sacrifice. The Hindu text the Manu smṛti, or Laws of Manu, describes what foods were deemed lawful and those that were forbidden in Indian culture. Eating meat was acceptable if it was done while honoring the gods. Manu emphasizes that killing an animal for rituals was “non-killing” and acceptable. On the other hand, if the slaughtering was not in accordance the correct Vedic practice the individual would sink into the depths of hell.
Many cultures required the consumption of the entire ritually sacrificed animal within a prescribed period. The parts of the animal that were left over, because of their sanctified nature, were burned, buried or otherwise carefully disposed of. This eliminated the possibility of accidentally coming into contact with something sacred.
A god or other supernatural being was inherently taboo. Rulers around the world were similarly regarded. They were perceived to be divine or semi-divine. The rules associated with the gods applied to their earthly emissaries. When a god was exposed to an object, the object could no longer be used in everyday “ordinary” life. It was forbidden in some cultures to look upon a god. Similarly, if he looked at you, you, your clothes and all that you possessed in that moment were instantly affected.
The names of the gods were never spoken. We see this reflected in Jewish tradition where uttering God’s name (יהוה – YHVH) is prohibited. The word Adonai (“my Lord”) or HaShem” (“the Name”) is often substituted to keep from violating this restriction. And like Moses who removed his sandals when he encountered God on Mount Sinai, it was common practice in many cultures to remove their shoes when walking on sacred ground lest their sandals become transformed. Contact with hallowed ground would have made their shoes unusable for everyday living. Priests and other individuals, who regularly were exposed to the divine, often wore special garments that were reserved for that purpose.
They shall be worn by Aaron and by his sons when they enter the Tent of Meeting or when they approach the altar to serve in the Holy, so they will not bear iniquity and die. It shall be a perpetual statute for him and for his descendants after him. – Exodus 28: 43
A god, or his human counterpart, could not be touched; his possessions could not be handled. Likewise, if he touched you or something that belonged to you, its status was instantly changed. The rules of taboo included their home and anything in it. If a divine agent entered someone’s home, their home became sanctified and no one else could go into it or use it. Even the ground a divinity walked upon was deemed holy. Their fear of unintentionally coming into contact with something sacred was so powerful that it became custom in many regions to carry the god-king upon a littler so his feet did not touch the ground.
This brings us back to Göbekli Tepe and why it was entombed. No written record exists attesting to the grandeur of Göbekli Tepe. There are no stories, myths or legends referring to it. The site and its inhabitants have been forgotten, lost in time. Yet the magnificence that has been unearthed on this remote, mountain top testifies to a people, a culture or a god that defies history and with all of is luster it was buried, hidden under tons of debris for 10,000 years.
Scholars suggest that the region had been invaded by an outside culture. Their goal in concealing the complex was to purge the indigenous people of their old religious beliefs. If this were the case, the site could have been destroyed. The massive t-shaped pillars could have been knocked over, the enclosing structures dismantled and the delicate stone carvings defaced. This is not what was found. The entire complex was in virtually pristine condition. The stones used to construct it were undisturbed, as if it had been preserved in a time capsule, only to be unearthed later.
The sheer effort it took to inter this location suggests something else. It indicates that something bigger, more important was at stake for the local residents. Individuals who are diagnosed with a highly contagious disease are immediately put under quarantine. If the threat of a pandemic were perceived, drastic measures would be taken to contain it. Would we use nuclear weapons or something worse to eradicate the potential spread of a communicable virus? Stepping into the hearts and minds of our ancestors, did the people who lived in the Germus range in southeastern Turkey find themselves in a similar situation?
Ancient customs suggests that when an individual died it was commonplace to abandon, desert or destroy his or her home. It was also a widespread practice to avoid contact with sacred places, including walking on holy ground. Likewise, if the stones used to construct the site were utilized somewhere else their infectious nature would follow. Their obsession over potential contamination may have been so intense that they may have believed they risked divine retribution if a particle of dust from this grand and mysterious site were to blow down from its mountain perch and land on their soil.
Could the inhabitants, from the region surrounding Göbekli Tepe, considered this location so holy, so sacred that when its resident left or died it was decided to bury it and avoid accidental exposure? Were they saving themselves from potentially spreading a rampant taboo through their society and its associated punishment? Taken as a whole, it seems clear that the people of the region inhumed the entire complex to save themselves from the wrath of gods and their own potential demise.

You can't be a child of the 70s and not be utterly and forever fascinated with the Bermuda Triangle and its mystery. Although the term “Bermuda Triangle” is not utilized by any military or map-making texts, it is popularly coined as an area of the western Atlantic between Puerto Rico, Miami and Bermuda that creates a triangular shaped location in the ocean of about 500,000 square miles where a great deal of ships and planes have gone missing. One hundred ships and planes and about 1000 people have gone missing in the past 100 years in this region. Authorities claim this is not an unusual count for a well trafficked are in some tricky water conditions. It really caught the public's attention in a big way in 1945 when five Navy Avenger planes went missing. It was listed as pilot error, the squadron following the leader until they ran out of gas, but without recovery or more evidence, it is all a great unknown. In fact, my father had a friend in the Navy who was on one of the planes. He said that his friend was going to take his time off, but my father convinced him to visit his family for the holidays and save his time off. He regretted that advice ever since. Putting all this mystery into perspective, insurers don't even recognize the Triangle as an issue, as the statistics do not frighten them. More likely, Cape Horn or another deadly region of the ocean would be more questionable. There was a great deal of publicity and romance involving the Bermuda Triangle to make it a public love affair. I think one of the most significant things is the amount of aircraft that went down, which cannot be accounted for rough seas, and the most unusual cases that perplex. Let's have a look at some of those.
A 1918 cargo ship, the USS Cyclops, went missing with 300 men on board, making it perhaps the largest loss in the Triangle. It was a WWI disaster for America, as the ship went missing and they are certain it went down, but could not find it. It was taking bulk cargo from America to Brazil when it went missing. She came back with a load of manganese ore. But, the ship went missing somewhere around Barbados and left everyone wondering what had become of it.
Cary Trantham in 1995 was flying her plane in a corner of the Bermuda Triangle when something happened that forever changed her. When she took off from the Florida Keys heading up the coast to visit her daughter, she recalled another pilot telling her of a dead space for radio silence along the coast. She did, however, have an uneventful landing and visit with her daughter, but when she went to fly back home, there was a storm on the horizon. Cary checked with the weather service. They told her to take a different path back. When she was over Orlando, the plane began to shake wildly. Once she regained control, the sun began to set and she saw the lights of Miami. She was over the everglades when she saw a surface haze. All at once, it was like the entire plane was draped in something and she couldn't see out. Her compass was erratic, her headset was buzzing. She wasn't sure if she was level or not and could not get anyone on the radio – it was dead. Flying with no instruments or communications, she climbed and tried to see if that might help. Finally, a voice came over and helped her out and she was able to land, but not without the memories of the horrible fight to get out of the weird place she had entered. Cary's experiences are chronicled on her site (below) and her book (below). I highly suggest reading these.
Conclusion
The explanations have run the gamut from some kind of portal/vortex, alien abduction, releasing gases from the floor of the ocean, gravity fields, and more. I think we'd find that, like accidents on the highway, there are dozens of explanations for why and it may have nothing to do with that stretch of roadway in their explanation. - Movies about it - Triangle Satan's Triangle Lost Voyage The Bermuda Triangle The Triangle Beyond the Bermuda Triangle The Fantasy Journey The Bermuda Depths Mystery in the Bermuda Triangle Escape From Atlantis 1313: Bermuda Triangle More info: Cary Trantham's book Cary Trantham's site **Tomorrow's post is “Alien Bases in Antarctica”**
