AN ALLEGED top-secret US spy plane that can "fly into space" was seen being driven in a military convoy near the mysterious Area 51, it has sensationally been claimed.
A trucker claims to have seen the heavily guarded convoy, with a triangular-shaped craft in tow, at night just about 100miles from the top-secret US Airforce base as the crow flies.
TR-3B is alleged by conspiracy theorists to be a secret "black project" spy craft of the US Government that can be flown into space.
The allegations are that these crafts are created at top-secret military bases like Area 51, in Nevada, by reverse engineering alien technology.
Others claim they are actual UFOs flown by aliens visiting Earth.
The man has filed a report about the sighting to the US-based Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), the world's largest organisation dedicated to UFO and alien research.
He said he was driving north on route I-15 between Baker and Primm, California, at 11pm on Thursday, February 9, when he had the shocking experience.
He wrote: "Now let me start off by saying that this vehicle could very well be a secret military experimental aircraft.
"After some time I had noticed that there wasn't any traffic heading south on I-15 for at least five minutes.
"A few minutes later as I was cresting a hill here comes the highway patrol with all their lights on driving somewhere between 80-100mph with the military in tow.

A trucker claims to have seen an alleged TR-3B like the one in this CGI image in a convoy.
"They were all escorting a single flatbed trailer with an incredible somewhat triangular shaped UFO like vehicle on the trailer."
He said it was much wider than the trailer and had three sets of landing gear in which it stood upon.
He added: "It was also covered in a shrink-wrap like material. It had markings on it but none looked familiar (no American flag or numbers that I could see).
"The colour of the material it was covered in was light grey, dark grey and black.
"Behind the truck carrying the object was more military vehicles and then about a half mile or so behind them were more state troopers keeping traffic back.
"I've seen many different UFO pictures and this object was close to being similar to the TR-3B but it's edges were much more rounded and wider.
"I really wish I could have gotten a picture of it, but then again I'd probably have the military or some men in black paying me a visit."

Area 51 is a heavily guarded base in the Nevada desert, where conspiracy theorists claim evidence of alien visitations are hidden away, or secret projects to design experimental craft take place.
This is not the first similar convoy sighting.
Last week Express.co.uk reported how a stunned eyewitness watched open-jawed as a "UFO" was apparently seen being transported by a police convoy on the back on a truck at night near the Fort Leonard Wood area of Missouri on February 1 at 10.15pm local time.
The alleged sighting was reported by an unnamed man to the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) in the US.
It is about 240 miles from the Wright Patterson USAF base, which is where conspiracy theorists claim crashed UFOs, and even alien bodies, have been hidden away by the military.
Then, Scott C Waring, editor of ufosightingsdaily.com, said that video footage had emerged of the most recent sighting reported to NUFORC, from another source.
Andre Milne, is the founder of defence technology firm Unicorn Aerospace, which describes itself as "the world's leading developer of advanced navigation technology."
According to its website, Unicorn Aerospace is "committed to development of advanced aerospace technologies in order to maximise revenue stream growth potential into the respective markets of the private commercial and public military sectors."
Mr Milne told Express.co.uk: "The semi circular UFO style aircraft being transported on the flat bed trailer in the video is in fact an advanced generation design of a long series of experimental aircraft called Flying Wing Bodies.
"In this design the main body of the aircraft is the actual wing of the overall aircraft itself."
He also claims top-secret craft are developed at Area 51, but there is no evidence of aliens hidden there.
The space probe “Voyager 2”, which left Earth in 1977 and is the only NASA spacecraft to pass Uranus and Neptune, sent mission control bizarre messages in an unknown language 33 years after its send off, it has emerged.
And conspiracy theorists have jumped on comments said to have been made by a NASA scientist in a series of videos that are doing the rounds online.
Voyager 2 was around 15 billion km from Earth, when the message was sent back.

According to Physics Astronomy, NASA expert Kevin Baines said: “At a distance of about 15 billion kms from Earth, the probe suddenly started sending data in a language which they could never understand.
“Something or someone changed the communications system of the space probe Voyager 2.”
Voyager 2 has also visited Jupiter and Saturn.
Mr Baines reportedly said subsequent analysis found a component in a binary code system was changed from 0 to 1.
However, the real reason for the anomaly was never confirmed as the probe was so far away, research was inconclusive.
German academic Hartwig Hausdorf believes the Voyager was taken over by extraterrestrial life.
He told the German newspaper Bild: "It seems almost as if someone has reprogrammed or hijacked the probe – thus perhaps we do not yet know the whole truth.”
Conspiracy theorists have accused NASA of a cover up after keeping details of the incident hidden since 2010.

In a report to NUFORC, the man said: "I saw a line of police cars spaced out about a mile with no traffic coming southbound.
"I noticed more police cars with lights keeping traffic held back in the distance about another mile and a semi with flatbed was in the centre.
"As the semi (articulated truck) approached, I couldn't believe that the semi was carrying what appeared to be a saucer shaped object."
Then, Scott C Waring, editor of ufosightingsdaily.com, said that video footage had emerged of the most recent sighting reported to NUFORC, from another source.
But there was confusion after it emerged the video may have been taken a year ago.

There have been other similar sightings around the US.
A US defence industry insider told Express.co.uk the sightings are actually evidence of secretly-developed technology by the US Air Force, in so-called Black Projects.

Mr Milne told Express.co.uk: "The semi circular UFO style aircraft being transported on the flat bed trailer in the video is in fact an advanced generation design of a long series of experimental aircraft called Flying Wing Bodies.

He provided images of "the original design prototypes that have been built for testing the aerodynamic properties of this experimental concept."
He added: "I hope this helps clear up the confusion about the occasional sighting of UFO type aircraft being seen transported on heavy trucks around the USA.
"Great to see that the aerospace industry is still actively conducting applied research into unconventional aircraft designs."
Alien conspiracy theorists, who have suggested they were UFOs, claim they are taken to top-secret airforce bases like Area 51 in the Nevada desert.
But, Mr Milne has already said that, instead of Area 51 storing crashed alien UFOs, it is where the experimental black projects take place.
Peter Davenport, NUFORC director, agrees.
He said: "We have heard about that object before, and we believe that it is some kind of space vehicle, used by the US Air Force."
In an Express.co.uk poll responded to by 626 readers, 35 per cent believed that the UFO in the video was a secret US craft, while just 17 per cent thought it was an alien space craft.
Scott Brando, of hoax-busting website ufoofinterest.org, said the object on the truck in the video was an X-47B unmanned drone, which is a tailless jet-powered blended-wing-body aircraft capable of semi-autonomous operation and aerial refuelling.
Montana has had an overwhelming number of UFO sightings, and still does.
Not only are these sightings reported by credible witnesses, but they’re also reported by the U.S. government. Yes, it would seem, Montana is indeed on the cosmic map.
But when did we get there? We know that the “first” recorded sighting of a UFO in America was on January 25, 1878. It was seen in Denison, Texas, by John Martin, who described it as saucer-size.
The term flying saucer wouldn’t take hold until pilot Kenneth Arnold made it popular after his June 1947 UFO sighting over Mount Rainier in Washington, however.
That wasn’t the first recorded sighting of a UFO, of course. The Japanese may have made the ‘saucer’ connection first, when they labeled a flying object an “earthenware vessel” on October 27, 1180, one they’d seen from a mountain in the Kii province.
Asia has always been a hotspot for UFO sightings, with the cave paintings in China’s Hunan Province showing cylindrical crafts, possibly with occupants getting out. The paintings are 47,000 years old.
In Montana we have a very long history of UFO sightings. One of the earliest occurred in September 1865, at “about 75-100 miles above the Great Falls of the Upper Missouri River,” in an area called Cadotte Pass.

Fur trapper James Lumley spotted a “bright, luminous, body” in the darkening sky shortly after sunset. Suddenly the object moved to the east very quickly and then for no apparent reason, exploded, shaking the ground all around.
The sound was immense, like thunder, and afterward there was a “rushing sound,” something like a tornado moving through a forest. The wind kicked up suddenly before dying back down. The smell of sulfur filled the air.
Lumley must have been startled, to say the least. His courage can’t be doubted, however, for the next day he left his camp and went to where the object had crashed.
It was easy to get there – the trees had been chopped off halfway up, others had been uprooted, and even the earth had been shaved off in places, like tops coming off hills.
After following the desolation for two miles, Lumley found an immense rock or stone that’d been driven right into the side of a mountain. Examining it, Lumley found that it was divided into compartments and had writings or etchings on it, much like hieroglyphics.
That wasn’t all, however. Around the object were broken shards or fragments, which resembled glass more than anything. There were also dark stains on the ground, like some liquid had seeped into the earth.

It wasn’t until October 19 that Lumley’s story was reported in the St. Louis Missouri Democrat, something the paper noted would “shake the foundations of the scientific world” if it were true.
The paper speculated, much like Lumley had, that this was a meteor that may well have been harnessed for use by some kind of alien beings. Furthermore, it devised a scenario where humans would be enslaved by these beings.
Trains were the fastest ways to travel at that point in time, and the idea of flying was still a fantasy. Most people had never moved faster than a horse could run.
There was no talk of UFOs or flying saucers or even a machine-like craft. People back then didn’t have much experience with machines. Is it a surprise that this object was therefore described as a rock? Perhaps not.
But could it still be there? We know that Ryan Dam is on the Great Falls of the Missouri now. Cadotte Pass would put the crash site right around Canyon Ferry Reservoir.
Or perhaps under it. The Canyon Ferry Dam was completed in 1954, which flooded the area. Still, it’s possible, and here are some likely spots:

It’s also important to point out that before 2004 there was a blotted-out image showing up on Google Maps. Remember, Google Maps started in October 2004. Here’s a before and after:
Montana became a quiet place after that, at least as far as UFO sightings were concerned. Sure, there may have been a few here and there, and local papers may have even reported them, but there were certainly no more high-profile incidents like the Lumley case.
That all changed beginning in the 1950s.
In 1952 the United States Air Force stared Project Blue Book, though there were earlier incarnations called Sign and Grudge, in 1947 and 1949 respectively. The Cold War had begun, and America needed to know if UFOs were a threat first, and what they were second.

December 1956 UFO Sighting in Missoula, Montana: This document is 25 pages and details an object found near Harlowton or Shawmut, though the owner couldn’t remember where exactly.
It was “a dull black-gray colored volcanic type rock,” similar in type to the kind ranchers and herders found. These were “metal components of airborne meterological [sic] equipment.”
Typically these would be given to the Martinsdale Post Office, and then sent off to Malmstrom AFB. The reason was that Malmstrom was the only place in the country to be “sending airborne meteorological equipment aloft.” Still, locals were convinced it was a self-contained power unit of some spaceship.

Montana UFO Sightings in the 1960s
Sightings would continue into the 1960s, with 28 more specific incidents being recorded in Montana.
One of the most peculiar Montana UFO incidents occurred on April 30, 1964 near Canyon Ferry Reservoir in Helena. Burns of some sort were discovered in the ground, and looking at the 12 photos, one might surmise that they were prints of some sort.

What happened was that several children of Harold Rust, as well as a woman named Linda Davis, saw an “egg-shaped object” the “size of an automobile land” about 150 feet away from them, leaving four indentations in the ground that were “4-8 inches deep, about 13 ft apart.”
It was even reported in the Victoria Advocate the next day, and the Montana Standard picked up the story closer to home:
What is it about this area…nukes? There’s no mention of the nuclear warheads begin turned off by a UFO at Malmstrom Air Force Base around that time.
The last recorded UFO sighting in Montana was in Columbia Falls in September 1967. After that Project Blue Book was finished. The program was ordered terminated in December 1969 and by January 1970, all activity had stopped.
Or did it?
You could go into any bar in Montana right now and hear at least one UFO story, one that happened somewhere out there in the vastness of this state, and in our lifetimes.
But would you want to?

UFOs have always been coming to Montana, that much is clear. Too many people have seen them, and these witnesses are credible people in the community.
Oftentimes they’re benign sightings, with no harm done. Other times the results are more chilling, like with the incidents near Deer Lodge’s Red Gate.
Still, sightings occurred long before those nuclear missiles were installed. What is it about the Treasure State that draws them here? And when will we know?

For more than a year, a hacker from North London named Gary McKinnon managed to hack into NASA computers as well as dozens of computer systems held by the US Army, the US Navy, the US Air Force and the Department of Defence, all completely undetected.
He was searching for evidence of the cover-up of free energy sources and UFO activity as well as any other potential information that might be useful for the public at large. Naturally, when the US government found out about his cyber-hacking escapades, they were determined to bring him to trial.
WHAT DID GARY MCKINNON FIND OUT WHEN HE HACKED NASA’S COMPUTERS?
The American government stated that they believed that McKinnon had been responsible for causing $800,000 worth of damage to their computers in his cyber-hacking spree. There followed ten years of frantic legal wrangling as the United States aimed to secure an extradition compliance from their allies in the United Kingdom. While the British government was initially sympathetic to the United States, the former Home Secretary (and current Prime Minister) Theresa May, withdrew her compliance on human rights grounds. There were concerns that McKinnon’s mental health was too fragile to put him through the harrowing extradition procedure and that he was a suicide risk.
Shortly after that, the Director of Public Prosecutions at the time, Keir Starmer, said that he after he had assessed the evidence he had concluded that there was not enough to try him in the United Kingdom as the United States were withholding much of their case work.
Therefore, it appears that McKinnon has managed to evade punishment after being accused of the ‘biggest military computer hack of all time.' Now, he is assured that he will not face trial for his hacking, McKinnon feels as though he can speak freely about what he uncovered in the United States’ secret databases. So what did he find out?
He claims that he has read the four hundred testimonials from the witnesses of the Disclosure Project. He said that these testimonials came from highly credible witnesses including air traffic controllers and those responsible for the maintenance of nuclear weapons. He also said that he uncovered raw image files of UFOs and extraterrestrial beings in NASA’s databases. He claimed that these pictures had been released in a doctored state to the general public. Recently declassified government “Project Blue Book” documents detail a UFO sighting on Sept. 19,1950 by several Malden, New Madrid and Poplar Bluff, Missouri residents that was followed across Southeast Missouri by two military F-51 fighter planes. This was followed by what was called a meteor explosion and a military F2H Banshee jet crashing into a hillside near Piedmont, MO all within 24 hours of the initial UFO sightings.

Police stations and newspapers in Butler and surrounding counties were barraged with reports on the afternoon of Sept. 19, 1950. Newspapers dubbed the object Poplar Bluff’s flying saucer and reported the UFO was seen hovering in the sky above the city “like a silver marble”. Many residents of Poplar Bluff described the UFO as a “translucent washtub” or “translucent silver sphere”, others described it as having a bright gold center with lavender edges.
An F-51 flown by Lt. Claude Haverty was dispatched from Memphis and reached Poplar Bluff where Haverty spotted an object he described as looking like “a big silver marble”. Lt. Haverty pursued the UFO as it moved over Malden, Missouri but his fuel began to run low and he headed back without being able to reach the UFO that was now over the New Madrid, Missouri area and estimated to be travelling at an altitude around 60,000-80,000 feet.
Another F-51 from Memphis flown by Lt. Donald Soefker also spotted the UFO and climbed to 40,000 feet to get a closer look. Soefker was unable to get close enough to the UFO to identify it, but described it as a silvery object with a spherical and elliptical shape. The UFO disappeared from sight but Soefker remained in the area above New Madrid, Missouri. Soon after, Soefker reported in to his commanders that he had suddenly seen white and green lights above him moving at a very high rate of speed. Soefker described the lights being in a configuration similar to a U.S. military aircraft and appeared to move in bursts of extremely high speed northward. UFOs imitating known aircraft light configurations is a fairly commonplace phenomena described by John Keel, Harvey Rutledge and many other UFO researchers as well as being something I have witnessed myself.
Neither the lights or the silvery object were ever identified. However after the incident both pilots stuck with the military’s official story and told newspapers they had only seen a weather balloon.
The now declassified intelligence report details both the lights and the silvery spherical object as being one and the same, although the pilot acknowledges that it is possible they were not. It’s behavior was reported as hovering stationary to moving at a terrific rate of speed after it turned it’s lights on. The object also made no sound and left no exhaust trail.
The Giant Fireball AMS 2326

At 1:35 am Sept. 20, 1950 only hours after the UFO over Poplar Bluff and Malden had left, reports of a meteor called AMS 2326 blasting through the sky west of Poplar Bluff and exploding in the air near a swamp between Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee began to surface saying it rocked a two state area. Many people in Poplar Bluff reported seeing the “meteor” that morning. Reports of sightings also came in from many nearby states. One report of the “meteor” came from an American Airlines Captain Garman who saw AMS 2326 on his way to Memphis from Washington D.C., Garman described the incident saying
“I was flying at 18,000 feet, and it looked as though it just came across our nose.”
“I tell you I never saw such a brilliant flash of light before. No, it wasn’t a clear light. It seemed to be burning with an orange, yellow and blue flame. I tell you, it lit up the whole sky”
Tennessee Highway Patrol reported that they believed the object made impact in the Hatchie Bottoms, a swampy area north of Memphis. Was this really a low-flying meteor that had exploded? Or could it have been something else that fell into that swamp between Memphis and a nearby military base?
According to the recently declassified documents the date of Sept. 20, 1950 also marks the beginning of a rash of other fireball type UFOs in places such as Colorado. Many described as orange fireballs or spheres that sound like the typical orange orbs so often seen today. Others seen at close range were described as looking like they were made of glowing and dripping molten metal. Many of these were seen hovering and performing upward flight maneuvers and changing direction at thousands of miles an hour. Perhaps AMS 2326 was no meteor at all, but one of these fireball UFOs being confronted by the military who had obviously been observing and pursuing them in the Southeast Missouri area around that time.
Fighter Jet Downed Outside Piedmont, MO
A military F2H twin engine jet fighter crashed into a hillside near Piedmont Missouri at 10:19 am on Sept. 20, 1950. The pilot Logan MacMillan ejected from the jet before it crashed and walked to the Piedmont post office where he telephoned someone with the crash location. According to AP, no information was available on the crash and MacMillan was quoted as saying he was not permitted to give out any information on anything what so ever. The wreckage was quickly recovered and whisked away, nothing of it heard since. Could this have been a result of confrontations between the UFOs that seemed to have been swarming the area at the time and the U.S. military? It certainly seems to be beyond mere coincidence.
U.S. Military VS UFOs?
So did the military in fact battle with UFOs over Southeastern Missouri in September of 1950? Due to the secretive and deceptive nature of our governments policy regarding information on this type of subject, there really is no way of knowing for sure.
When you consider the history of the activity around the New Madrid fault zone and how far UFO sightings date back and how consistently the descriptions have matched up even over time spans of hundreds of years, then some sort of run in seems inevitable. There are other stories like the supposed UFO crash outside of Sikeston, Missouri in 1945 that seem to lend to the idea that the military was pursuing and possibly confronting UFOs in the area around the same time period. But right now all we have are strange stories and speculation. Hopefully with more declassification will come more clarification on the subject. Until then I can’t help but wonder.

Local residence notified the Guardia Urbana to the presence of an unidentified flying object that gave gave off lights and bursts of color. Police officers have not dismissed any hypotheses out of hand, but are almost entirely sure it wasa star.
"It looked like a large donut-shaped circle that gave off flashes of light. One was white, while the other, smaller one was orange." This was the eyewitness report provided by Vicenta Quillez, one of the residents of Reus who confirms the sighting of a UFO (unidentified flying object) flying over the Santuari de Misericordia, an event that prompted the Guardia Urbana to take a closer look at the events.
Quilez told "Diari" that the events occurred on Wednesday around seven o'clock in the evening. It was around this time that she and other neighbors became aware of the presence of a large circle of lights over the sanctuary. Quilez recalls that they looked at the object for nearly two hours, unable to ascertain its nature. It was then that the UFO ceased to be motionless "and began heading toward the mountains," she says, adding: "I've always had misgivings about UFOs, but I've never seen anything like this before."
The sighting took place from Avenida La Salle. Uncertain as to where to go from there, the locals decided to phone the Guardia Urbana. After repeated inquiries, this newspaper has learned that the police sent two cruisers to the Santuari de Misericordia to investigate the possible UFO sighting. Police officers did not dismiss the possibility of a light-emitting object. However, all appears to indicate it was a star made visible thanks to the clear skies."

Winston Churchill had something to offer besides “blood, toil, tears and sweat”: A willingness to consider the existence life on other planets.
A newly discovered essay called “Are We Alone in the Universe?” that Churchill started writing in 1939, just weeks after Britain entered World War II and before becoming prime minister, suggests that the possibility of sentient life on other planets was on his mind.
Churchill revised the essay in the 1950s, but it was never published. Sometime in the 1980s, it was given to the National Churchill Museum in Fulton, Missouri, and was discovered just last year by the institution’s director, Timothy Riley, according to the BBC.
In the piece, Churchill explains that life can survive only in regions where temperatures are between a few degrees of frost and the boiling point of water.
He then speculates that Venus and Mars are the only other planets in our solar system in that habitable zone.
However, Churchill also explains why life on other planets is more likely than not:
“With hundreds of thousands of nebulae, each containing thousands of millions of suns, the odds are enormous that there must be immense numbers which possess planets whose circumstances would not render life impossible.”
Churchill also refuses to be so arrogant as to think that humans are the highest evolution of sentient life:
“I, for one, am not so immensely impressed by the success we are making of our civilization here that I am prepared to think we are the only spot in this immense universe which contains living, thinking creatures, or that we are the highest type of mental and physical development which has ever appeared in the vast compass of space and time.”
“The most amazing thing is that he started this essay when Europe was on the brink of war and there he is, musing about a question about a scientific topic that is really a question out of curiosity,” he said.
Livio and Riley hope others get to read Churchill’s piece, but it will remain unpublished until copyright issues can be sorted out, according to the BBC.

Dat blijkt uit een essay dat hij in 1939 schreef, maar dat nooit gepubliceerd werd en nu is teruggevonden en bestudeerd.
Het essay met de werktitel ‘Are We Alone in Space?‘ is elf pagina’s lang. Churchill zette het kort voor het uitbreken van de Tweede Wereldoorlog op papier. Waarschijnlijk wilde hij het populair-wetenschappelijke stuk in een krant publiceren. Maar zover kwam het nooit. In de jaren ’50 paste hij het stuk nog wat aan – zo veranderde hij de titel naar ‘Are We Alone in the Universe?‘ – maar wederom ging het nooit ter perse.
SCHRIJVER
Churchill schreef veel en graag. Daarbij schuwde hij de wetenschappelijke onderwerpen niet. Naast buitenaards leven schreef hij ook over onderwerpen als evolutie en kernfusie.
Herontdekt Enkele decennia later kwam het essay in de archieven van het US National Churchill Museum in Fulton (Missouri) terecht. En lang leek het essay gedoemd om vergeten te worden. Tot de directeur van het museum het vorig jaar herontdekte en afleverde bij onderzoeker Mario Livio. Livio bestudeerde het essay en onthult in het blad Nature de gedachten die de beroemde Britse staatsman over buitenaards leven had.
Aliens
Churchill leek aardig overtuigd te zijn van het bestaan van (intelligente) aliens. “Ik ben zelf niet zodanig onder de indruk van het succes dat we van onze beschaving hier (op aarde, red.) maken dat ik bereid ben om aan te nemen dat dit de enige plek in het immense universum is dat levende, denkende wezens bevat.”
Kennis Maar die uitspraak is niet direct het meest indrukwekkende aspect van Churchills essay, zo stelt Livio. Hij stelt vooral respect te hebben voor de wetenschappelijke kennis van Churchill. Een deel van die kennis is anno 2017 nog altijd niet achterhaald. Zo stelt Churchill bijvoorbeeld dat water onontbeerlijk is voor levensvormen zoals wij die kennen. Anno 2017 laten we ons in de zoektocht naar buitenaards leven nog altijd leiden door de aanwezigheid van water. Ook merkt Churchill op dat leven alleen kan overleven op plekken die niet te koud (hooguit enkele graden onder nul) en niet te warm (onder het kookpunt van water) zijn. Vandaag de dag noemen we dat de ‘leefbare zone’: een denkbeeldige zone rondom een ster waarin de temperaturen niet te hoog zijn (en water dus niet kan verdampen), maar ook niet te laag zijn (en water dus niet kan bevriezen). Daarnaast haalt Churchill ook het belang van een atmosfeer aan en wijst erop dat een hemellichaam een bepaalde zwaartekracht moet bezitten om een atmosfeer vast te kunnen houden. Op basis van al die overwegingen stelt Churchill dat Mars en Venus – naast de aarde – de enige plaatsen in ons zonnestelsel zijn waar we buitenaards leven zouden kunnen aantreffen. De planeten in de buitenste regionen van het zonnestelsel sluit hij uit, omdat ze te koud zijn. Mercurius is te warm aan de dagzijde en te koud aan de nachtzijde en de maan en planetoïden hebben een te beperkte zwaartekracht en kunnen dus geen atmosfeer vasthouden.
MARS, VENUS EN EXOPLANETEN
De vragen die Churchill kort voor de Tweede Wereldoorlog bezighielden, houden vandaag de dag vele astrobiologen wereldwijd bezig. De zoektocht naar leven op Mars is in volle gang en simulaties wijzen erop dat ook Venus in het verleden leefbaar is geweest. Daarnaast achten onderzoekers het bestaan van buitenaards leven ook mogelijk op manen zoals Europa en Enceladus. En naar verwachting kunnen we met de volgende generatie telescopen ook in de atmosfeer van exoplaneten op zoek gaan naar sporen van leven.
Exoplaneten Daarnaast voorspelt Churchill – decennia voor we de eerste exoplaneet ontdekken – al het bestaan van planeten buiten ons zonnestelsel. Hij wijst er in zijn essay op dat onze ster slechts één ster in een miljarden sterren tellend sterrenstelsel is. “Ik ben niet zo verwaand dat ik denk dat mijn zon de enige met een verzameling planeten is.” Churchill schrijft bovendien te verwachten dat exoplaneten groot genoeg zijn om vloeibaar water en een atmosfeer te bezitten en dat er daarnaast ook nog exemplaren zullen zijn die zich op de juiste afstand (in de leefbare zone) van hun ster bevinden. Churchill benadrukt dat dergelijke planeten zich echter op zo’n grote afstand van de aarde bevinden dat we wellicht nooit te weten komen of ze daadwerkelijk levende wezens bevatten.
Uit het essay blijkt dat Churchill vertrouwd was met recente onderzoeken van onder meer astrofysicus James Jeans en astronoom Edwin Hubble (die stelde dat er naast de Melkweg nog veel meer sterrenstelsels zijn). Bovendien blijkt de staatsman te redeneren zoals het een wetenschapper betaamt. Het raakt Livio, die opmerkt dat veel politici vandaag de dag zo anders zijn. “In een tijd waarin moderne politici wetenschap vermijden, vind ik het ontroerend om me een leider te herinneren die zo diepgaand met wetenschap bezig was.”

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – A bright light streaking across the sky captured the attention of several Bay Area residents early Tuesday, but it was not a UFO.
The Navy issued a statement saying it was conducting missile tests off the California coast.
“Navy Strategic Systems Programs conducted scheduled Trident II (D5) missile test flights at sea from an Ohio Class SSBN, in the Pacific Test Range offthe coast of California,” the statement said. ”This morning, there were two missiles launched.”
The Navy said such tests were vital to maintain its readiness. One launch took place at 3:30 a.m. PST and a second at 6:20 a.m. A submarine off the coast launched the Trident II D-5 missiles — a three-stage missile with a 4,000-mile range.
Navy spokesman John Daniels said residents likely saw stage one, which lasts about a minute, and possibly part of stage two.
“All missile test flights were conducted from sea, flew over the sea, and landed in the sea. At no time did the missiles fly over land,” the Navy statement continued. “All missiles are tracked from multiple sources from launch until final impact in the ocean. The missiles were not armed.”
But for the hours before the statement was issued, the bright light had led to an active debate on social media.

THE US Navy has released a statement saying the testing of two Trident missiles was "not in response to any world events" after scores of people filmed a mysterious light trailing through the night sky.
Some people were even left convinced they may have witnesses an alien UFO.
Videos of the bizarre sight over California yesterday were uploaded to social media and even sent to investigators at the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) as a possible alien sighting.
The footage shows from various locations a bright point in the sky with a beam of light radiating below it.
In one video, a woman shrieked 'It's ET!', while others claimed on social media to have seen an alien craft.
But, in response, the US Navy confirmed it carried out missile tests off the coast at 3.30am and 6.20am local time yesterday.

Many people reported that they felt the missile over California was a UFO.
The Navy issued a statement saying the missiles "were not armed and did not fly over land".
It said they fired two Trident II D-5 missiles.
The statement said: "All missile test flights were conducted from sea, flew over the sea, and landed in the sea. At no time did the missiles fly over land.
"All missiles are tracked from multiple sources from launch until final impact in the ocean. The missiles were not armed."
The Navy also said they were routine tests and not in response to any "ongoing world activities".

Witness report to MUFON
But that failed to stop mounting speculation over what it was.
US-based MUFON is the world's biggest organisation dedicated to UFO and alien research and keeps a database of global sightings.
One witness in Citrus Heights, California, wrote to MUFON: "I looked to my left and saw a bright white light with what looked like a cone shaped mist of fog.
"It then emitted a bright spotlight towards the ground. I thought it was a helicopter but as I kept looking I did not see any flashing lights.
At one point I saw a plane fly by it and could clearly see the planes flashing lights. When the object turned off its spotlight I decided to try to catch a video of it."
Another witness in Auburn, California, wrote: "When I really focused on it I could see a cone-shaped vapour trail emitting form
behind the object.
"The object seemed to slightly change in flight direction, it appeared to slowly drift from south to south-west and back again a few times."
Another report from Vallejo, California, included a video of a "glowing bullet-like object that left a cone-shaped cloud.
And, a fourth witness in Pebble Beach, California, who snapped it, said the object looked like "a star, then a comet, then a search helicopter, before it dissolved into space."

They are in their 50s now but the children of Broad Haven in west Wales still recall every scary detail of the chilly February lunchtime in 1977 when they saw a UFO land in the playing field next to their school.
It was a shiny grey torpedo shape, its upper dome topped by a pulsating red light – and some of them say a silver-clad spaceman emerged from the craft.
Headmaster Ralph Llewellyn was convinced it was a prank so he sat the 14 children down under exam conditions and asked them to describe what they’d witnessed – and to his astonishment their drawings were remarkably similar.
The children insisted they had seen a flying saucer and handed in a petition at the police station demanding an investigation.

Forty years on it is clear this was just the first of a spate of sightings.
A few days later a teacher and three dinner ladies saw the UFO and as winter turned to spring along the rugged Pembrokeshire coast, locals reported lights hovering in the sky, a strange being in a metallic suit, animals cowering in the fields and ghostly figures peering into farmhouse windows.
The Ministry of Defence sent a man to speak to the children because the school was close to RAF Brawdy, although for 30 years the MoD denied it had conducted an official inquiry and said there was no threat to security even though it was the height of the Cold War.

Only in 2015 when secret documents in the national archives were featured in a book called The Watchers was it confirmed that a top-level inquiry had taken place.
Among documents uncovered by author Neil Spring was a letter from the head of the MoD’s S4 wing to the RAF’s internal police force.
The S4 chief wrote: “I have not even told the minister I am consulting you,” and called for a “discreet enquiry” after expressing bewilderment at the number of apparently “level-headed” witnesses to the strange activity.
Once the children’s experience was publicised in local newspapers the area became a magnet for UFO hunters who tagged it the Broad Haven Triangle.
Two months later Rosa Granville, owner of the Haven Fort Hotel, was in bed at 2.30am when she was woken by strange noises and lights.
She said she saw an “upside-down saucer” next to the hotel and two “faceless humanoid” creatures with pointed heads.
She told BBC Wales: “There was so much heat my face felt burned. There was light coming from it and flames of all colours.
Then [the creatures] came out of these flames.” Mrs Granville fi red off a letter to her MP Nicholas Edwards in which she said the incident left her “agitated and disturbed and not the least bit desirous of another encounter”.
She went on: “I would be pleased to hear of an explanation, it would greatly help to relieve the sense of shock I feel since my encounter.”
At Ripperston Farm a few miles away Billy Coombs and his wife Pauline reported a series of strange events scaring their cattle.
Mrs Coombs said she was driving her children to school one day when their car was followed by what looked like “a rugby ball that was on fire”.
Then one night the Coombs dialed 999 when a 7ft-tall figure wearing “a spacesuit” appeared at their sitting room window.
The constable who drove out to their farmhouse said later that in 26 years’ service “that was the most frightened family I have ever been to see”.
Only one child has spoken at length about the school UFO.

David Davies, who was 10 at the time, gave writer Spring a statement three years ago in which he said: “The object was pearlescent silvery-grey, approximately 40ft long, torpedo/cigar-shaped with an upper domed section that covered the central third of the vehicle and which was topped with a red pulsating light.
"I was the last of a dozen or so children to see the object on that day.”
In an interview later he said: “The sighting, despite only lasting a few seconds, is burned on my memory like a photograph. I’ve spent my entire life and countless thousands of pounds trying to find answers about what we saw.
“It has been a lifetime’s fascination driven by a desire to get to the truth. My personal inclination is that our particular sighting had a terrestrial origin. However I have never ruled anything out.
"Our sighting was not the last visit to the school though. Unbeknownst to the children and most of the small community, the craft returned a few days later and was on this occasion seen by a teacher and three of the canteen staff.
“I have never in the last 38 years exaggerated or sensationalised the account of what I saw and have never suggested that what we saw was of extra-terrestrial origin.

“Many suggestions have been made that what we saw was either an agricultural vehicle or an aircraft from nearby RAF Brawdy. I’d like to state categorically that this is not the case as the majority of the children at the school, myself included, came from farming backgrounds and would have been able to identify any agricultural vehicle and because of Brawdy’s proximity we were also familiar with almost every RAF aircraft in the skies.”
After researching his book, Spring said: “I visited Broad Haven a sceptic and came away convinced that some of the locals knew far more about the mysterious occurrences than they are willing to reveal.”
So was it all a hoax?
Emlyn Williams, organiser of a conference to mark the 40th anniversary, said: “One child can lie but can a whole class?
"Over 40 years at least one of them might have come forward to say they made it up – but they haven’t.” Broad Haven had a range of military bases within 40 miles. There was a top-secret rocket testing station at Aberporth while RAF Brawdy, near St David’s, trained pilots on Hawker Hunters.
The RAF station housed both a tactical weapons unit and a US navy “underwater research station” – which in reality tracked the movements of Soviet submarines.
It is known that Harrier jets, which take off and land vertically, flew there and three years ago a retired US serviceman revealed that search and rescue drills were carried out by men in silver fire suits.
The last word goes to the RAF.
A letter written by an officer to the MoD on June 3, 1977 ended: “I’m unable to offer any explanation but should a UFO arrive at RAF Brawdy we will charge normal landing fees and inform you immediately!”

The US Navy has confirmed launching two Trident II missiles from submarines off the Californian coast after locals noticed a mysterious glow in the sky leading to speculation about possible UFO encounters.

While the Trident missiles were launched at 3:30am and 6:20am, Navy spokesman John Daniels pointed out to local news stations that the mysterious spectacle was most likely produced by stage one of the launch which lasts about a minute, and possibly part of stage two.
“All missile test flights were conducted from sea, flew over the sea, and landed in the sea. At no time did the missiles fly over land,” the Navy statement said. “All missiles are tracked from multiple sources from launch until final impact in the ocean. The missiles were not armed.”
But before the Navy clarified the unexplained Tuesday sightings, the mysterious glow in the sky at 6:20 am dominated the social media chat where people shared photos of the alleged “UFO sighting.”
Prior to Tuesday’s launch, Trident II was successfully tested at least 161 times since the rocket’s completion in 1989. Trident D5 is a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM), built by Lockheed Martin Space Systems for the American and British navies. It serves as the primary seaborne nuclear deterrent.
The missiles are carried by 14 US Ohio and 4 British Vanguard-class submarines. Some 24 missiles arm the Ohio class subs while only 16 missiles are found on each Vanguard class. The three-stage ballistic missile can travel a nominal range of 4,000 nautical miles and is capable of engaging multiple targets.
The Navy conducted missile tests off the coast on Tuesday, leading Californians who spotted the mysterious white light in the sky to believe they had seen a UFO.
Several people from the Bay Area down to Los Angeles spotted the light and captured the incident in photographs and videos that were later circulated online.
But the Navy issued a statement revealing they had conducted two missile tests off the coast of California early Tuesday morning, ABC reported.

Videos of the missile test, many of which were filmed on the road, show a bright point in the sky with a beam of light radiating below it.
In one video, a woman could be heard exclaiming 'It's E.T!' while others took to social media to declare they had seen an alien spaceship.
But the Navy issued a statement saying two Trident II D-5 missile test flights were launched at sea at 3.30am PST and 6.20am, CBS reported.
'All missile test flights were conducted from sea, flew over the sea, and landed in the sea. At no time did the missiles fly over land,' the statement said.
'All missiles are tracked from multiple sources from launch until final impact in the ocean. The missiles were not armed.'
The Navy also made it a point to say they were conducting routine tests 'not in response to any ongoing world activities', ABC reported.

"If there are superintelligent aliens out there then they probably are observing us. That would seem quite likely, and we are just not smart enough to realise it," he said.
For a flamboyant visionary that he is, Musk revealed his wish to die on Mars, and in a natural way.
"I think, given the choice of dying on Earth or dying on Mars, I'd say yeah sure, I'll die on Mars. But it's not some kind of Mars death wish. And if I do die on Mars, I just don't want it to be on impact," Musk explained.

UFO research, alien hunting, and conspiracy theories are often unavoidably intertwined (even though they are not always mutually inclusive) and a recently posted video showing what appears to be an astronaut purposely attempting to obscure the view of an object passing the International Space Station (ISS) will certainly add to the convoluted morass of perceived coverups and interferences to the public’s right to know. Worse, at least according to one UFO hunter, there seems to be a pattern of behavior that can be found in the ISS videos.
The Mirror reported this week that in a YouTube video posted by SecureTeam10, an organization that self-describes itself as a “source for reporting the best in new UFO sighting news, info on the government coverup, and the strange activity happening on and off of our planet,” the prolific UFO hunter claims that astronauts have been “trying to hide” evidence of actual unidentified objects during their missions in space. And in true conspiracy theory fashion, there is no attempt to diplomatically phrase the accusation. Tyler Glockner, narrating for SecureTeam10, simply says that the footage highlights “deliberate” attempts by astronauts to block any video evidence of UFOs.
The first UFO video clip included in “ASTRONAUT BUSTED Trying To Hide UFOs Near ISS! 1/14/17” shows a view of space from the ISS that has picked up an object (or maybe more) passing by the space station. The object is very small and barely noticeable, but Glockner and team slows down the footage and shows the passing object(s) frame-by-frame. The small object moves from the upper-right of the video frame diagonally to the left, disappears from view (blocked by the ISS), then reappears (or is a totally separate object) moving back upward, only to curve around and disappear. At the same time, Glockner points out that it is only then when the astronaut (the video footage was obviously taken when an astronaut was outside the space station), for some unknown reason, places his gloved hand across part of the viewing lens, obscuring much of the view of open space. Glockner says it is only when the astronaut notices the movement that the attempt is made to hide the object from the camera’s view.
And it’s not only the hand. In the same ISS video clip, after the astronaut’s glove is removed from view, even more unidentified objects appear. They move in various directions and are of various shapes. The camera is then panned away from the view that catches so much dark space, a move that Glockner believes is done to limit the view of the passing UFOs, and most likely at the behest of those at mission control monitoring the video feeds.
The SecureTeam10 video then goes on to show UFO video clips taken from a range of missions that span the last four decades. In all the videos, Glockner finds evidence of attempts to hide the presence of unidentified objects in the footage.
Of course, accusations of NASA and/or the government’s efforts to keep evidence of UFOs and aliens from the general public are nothing new and the basis of numerous conspiracy theories. Nor are the accusations surrounding attempts to hide UFO activity around the ISS.

There have been many incidents of UFO hunters and researchers calling foul and applying the label of “coverup” over the years as ISS cameras have abruptly gone blank or cut off during live feeds, especially when those live feeds appeared to have captured UFOs or strange phenomena exhibited somewhere in the frame.
Back in July, NASA explained why the video feeds on the ISS suddenly go dark.
“The video is from our High Definition Earth Viewing (HDEV) experiment aboard the ISS, which is mounted externally on the ISS,” NASA spokesperson Daniel Huot told CNET via e-mail. “This experiment includes several commercial HD video cameras aimed at the Earth, which are enclosed in a pressurized and temperature-controlled housing. The experiment is on automatic controls to cycle through the various cameras.”
Huot went on: “The station regularly passes out of range of the Tracking and Data Relay Satellites (TDRS) used to send and receive video, voice and telemetry from the station. For video, whenever we lose signal (video comes down on our higher bandwidth, called KU) the cameras will show a blue screen (indicating no signal) or a preset video slate.”
The explanation came after yet another black-out came where a UFO was sighted. The video, uploaded to YouTube from user Streetcap1, another prolific UFO hunter, picked up an object entering the Earth’s atmosphere.
“What made it interesting was the camera cut off when the UFO seemed to stop,” Streetcap1 wrote.

It should be noted that NASA’s proffered explanation was a rare event, because the space agency does not commonly comment on or explain phenomena detected in its photos and videos. However, that particular UFO video went viral and was uploaded to dozens of media outlets and websites. Accusations and allegations were becoming quite strong that NASA was covering up the existence of UFOs and aliens.
Not that denying, or explaining away, something has ever stood in the way of a UFO conspiracy theory.

A leading Scientist recently warned humankind that people should hope that aliens don’t visit us on Earth or it will end in DOOM – But could this be yet another game by the Elites, designed to scare the masses and make people believe that ALL ET Beings would be a threat to humanity?
Lucianne Walkowicz, who is a top astrophysicist, predicted that contact with extraterrestrials could spell disaster for mankind.
“There’s a possibility that if we actively message, with the intention of getting the attention of an intelligent civilisation, that the civilisation we contact would not necessarily have our best interests in mind,” she said.
But the scientist at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago appeared to then slightly change her mind and went on to say that spaceships landing may not be all bad!
Aliens may not be friendly towards humans, warned Dr Lucianne Walkowicz
Recently speaking to NBC News, she said that on the other hand there could be “great benefits”, of which appears to be a bit of a mixed message on what to expect from the ET’s!?
She added:
“It could be something that ends life on Earth, and it might be something that accelerates the ability to live quality lives on Earth.
“We have no way of knowing.”
Dr Walkowicz comments come not long after astronomer Seth Shostak recently called for more effort to be made in developing an action plan for dealing with the first contact. Interestingly his comments are also incredibly negative towards the prospects of ET’s actually making direct contact with the human race.
Mr Shostak, who works for non-profit space research group SETI, said that in the event of aliens showing up now, humans would be “like the Neanderthals having a plan in case the US Air Force showed up”. It is very interesting to note that the US Military in the last couple of years have helped towards funding of SETI. Could it be that SETI are being instructed to help manipulate the masses on what to expect from the ET’s!?
Mr Shostak went on to say:
“Some people asked me at a conference last week, ‘What plan does the military have to deal with aliens should they land?’ And I said, ‘I don’t know … but to the best of my knowledge, they don’t have a plan,” he told Live Science.
Elite Puppet on a string? Seth Shostak, director of SETI, spoke about the search for extraterrestrial life.
Even more interesting is that fact that World-renowned physicist Stephen Hawking has made very similar predictions about aliens not being keen on us.
He has previously warned we could see ourselves colonised by a far superior species, but like many other leading scientists out there that work alongside the governments of this world, he also has given mixed opinions on ET contact – please click HERE for more on this story.
Interestingly back in In July 2015, Britain’s most famous scientist actually helped to launch Breakthrough Listen , a 10-year, £64million project funded by US-based Russian billionaire Yuri Milner. So it does seem a little strange that on the flip side of all this Mr Hawking has given us all a stark warning about the kind of risks Alien beings could pose to us.
It appears that we are getting some very mixed views from the Elite scientists out there – but one thing that they all have in common is the fact that they like to encourage FEAR when it comes to ET contact.

Amazing how some of the most senior of scientists out there like to try to put the fear of god into the masses, when it comes to Alien Beings making direct contact with us. It is just as well that the vast majority of us have an open mind and can actually see that our current biggest threat to humanity is the Cabal Elites!
These fear mongering messages may have some purpose when it comes to understanding how the ET Beings may present themselves to us, however when you already have a planet which is filled with many different divisions and hatred, this warning could very well encourage many people to not approve of any direct ET contact!
In an infinite Universe ANYTHING is possible and just like humanity, you get good and bad in every walk of life. So yes, there could very well be ET Beings around us who do not have our best interests at heart, but the big question is WHY do the Elite seem so determined to hide the truth and manipulate our thought process?
It is clear to most of us who have done our research, that there are ET Beings out there that already know we are here and perhaps are already in contact with certain groups of individual on this planet – it is also clear that the Elite DO NOT want us to know what is really going on!
