Roughly 55 percent of Americans think the government would keep alien life secret if given a chance, according to a new YouGov poll.
The poll found U.S. residents were deeply skeptical of how the government would handle first contact with aliens.
When asked “if we discover or are discovered by an alien species one day, do you think it is more likely that the government would tell the public or keep it secret?” only 19 percent agreed the government would tell the public.
Republicans were more likely to be skeptical of the government’s trustworthiness than Democrats, with 61 percent saying the government would keep it secret. Only 51 percent of Democrats held that opinion. Republicans and Democrats are about equally likely to believe in UFOs.
Americans were unsure if aliens would be friendly to humanity, with 29 percent suspecting they would be, while 19 percent suspected any alien life would be hostile. Roughly 12 percent of U.S. adults believe that the government has already made contact with aliens, but is covering up that fact.
The poll was conducted in late February from a representative sample of 2,008 U.S. adults.

One of the Most Witnessed UFO Events Ever
One of the Most Witnessed UFO Events Ever
The UFO sighting in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on April 6, 1966, remains one of the greatest, and one of the most observed strange incidents ever recorded in history. It was then around 11 p.m. at then Westall High School, which eventually changed to Westall Secondary College.
Around 200 witnesses, ranging from regular students to science teachers and headmasters.
On the day of the sighting, everything was normal as many children were playing in the schoolyard and others were studying. Then the scene was changed with the sudden appearance of what was described as large, silver saucer-shaped object, which was about the size of two or three cars. It hovered over the school, moved to a wooded area and apparently landed.
Mesmerized of what they just witnessed, children jumped the fence to get into the wooded area as teachers told them to return.
According to some reports, one of the girls reached the area where the UFO had landed, but she was found unconscious and needed to be taken to the hospital. Other witnesses entered the area, but the UFO reportedly took off at incredible speeds, and they saw other five objects, which they described as military planes chasing the UFO.
In the area where the UFO supposedly landed, the grass was flattened in a circle. The children were instructed to go back to school while the police went to the scene. Then something strange followed.
The police talked to adult witnesses, including the headmaster of the school. An unscheduled assembly speech told students that they saw something man made, particularly a weather balloon, and they were instructed not to speak what they had witnessed that day to anyone.
Other teachers also claimed to have spoken with two men in dark blue suits, who also told them not to talk about it, especially to the press. One of the teachers, who managed to take several photos of the large flying saucer, said that the men in suits took her camera and told her that it was now their property. She stated that the men were from the Australian Security Intelligence Organization (ASIO).
Andrew Greenwood, a science teacher at the school, said officers visited his home and threatened him not to tell anything about the UFO under the Official Secrets Act or else he would be fired for being an alcoholic, which he wasn’t.
A growing conspiracy theory suggests the Moon is occupied by advanced aliens that have banned humans from returning.
The theory links in with others that claim there are alien bases on the dark side of the Moon.
In a feature devoted to the theory, conspiracy theory website Ancient Code said: "Have you ever asked yourself why mankind has not returned to the moon in recent years?
"According to many researchers and Ufologists, the American space agency is hiding a sinister secret from society, and we are not familiar with everything that has occurred—and is still occurring—on the surface of the moon.
"Many people claim there is enough evidence to suggest there are Alien bases on the moon.
GETTY
Some conspiracy theorists claim the Moon is now out of bounds to humans.
"Rumors, declassified documents, and whistleblowers have come forward saying that agencies around the globe simply cannot afford to let society know what’s really on the moon."
The theory suggests that NASA astronauts during the moon landings met with aliens, who eventually warned them not to return.
The website added: "The idea that there are alien bases on the moon would explain why we stopped so abruptly going to the moon.
"Also, with our current technology, why haven’t we created a permanent manned outpost on the lunar surface?
"Wouldn’t it be easier to build a permanent structure on the surface of the moon, than to have a floating space station orbiting around Earth?"
The far-fetched theory goes onto suggest aliens are mining the moon of its resources, and UFOs, that allegedly visit Earth, are stationed on the moon.
The late Dr Harold Urey investigated lunar science from the 1950s.
GETTY
The Moon is a no-go area, claim some conspiracy theorists.
Ancient Code added: "But, is there really an alien base there? Well, I guess you can’t know that but, is it a coincidence that there are some lunar rocks that have been found to contain PROCESSED METALS such as Brass, Uranium 236 and Neptunium 237?
"These elements have NEVER been found to occur naturally.
"Uranium 236 is a radioactive nuclear waste which is found in spent nuclear and reprocessed Uranium.
"More interestingly, Neptunium 237 is a radioactive metallic element and a by-product of nuclear reactors and the production of Plutonium."
However, the theory will be weakened if news from Elon Musk's SpaceX project bears fruit.#
The billionaire's private firm has been approached by two private citizens who have paid a significant deposit to take part on a week-long space flight around the Moon.

ROSWELL UFO: ‘It wasn't aliens - it was Nazi top secret craft experimentation'
ROSWELL UFO: ‘It wasn't aliens - it was Nazi top secret craft experimentation'
THE Roswell flying saucer crash mystery was not caused by visiting aliens but by top-secret experimental craft built with Nazi technology, a documentary claims.
Roswell has been at the heart of the UFO scene since the military sensationally announced in a press release in July 1947 it had found the remains of a crashed flying saucer in the desert nearby.
But the following day it retracted the statement, saying it was in fact a damaged US Air Force air balloon.
Witnesses later came forward to say there had been alien bodies within the "crashed craft", which along with the wreckage, were then taken to the mysterious top-secret Area 51 military base in Nevada.
Now conspiracy theorists believe the crash could have been a top-secret test of Nazi technology, that was being developed in a base like Area 51.
GETTY
The Roswell UFO may have been a secret Nazi craft test crash.
The N24 channel documentary "UFOs in the Third Reich" claims the incident was actually a result of tests of a copper-coloured craft called the "Bell”.
With a three-metre diameter, its core was a futuristic propulsion unit using electric particles, and was designed by a Nazi engineer, it is claimed.
It was seen as the forerunner of today's stealth fighters and developed by V2 rocket experts brought to the US after WWII ended in a bid to give the US an advantage over the Soviet Union in terms of military aircraft.
During the war, Nazis had been experimenting with new technology, including bizarre flying saucer-shaped craft.
One of the experts was allegedly General Hans Kammler, an SS general.
Kammler was head of construction and defence projects´in the Third Reich and planned the death camp at Auschwitz and secret V2 rocket plants in Germany.
Igor Witkowski, a Polish former journalist and historian of military and aerospace technology, wrote the book Prawda O Wunderwaffe.
It told of “bell-shaped craft” that were created by the Nazis, and described how Hitler wanted the best scientists and engineers to develop them.
German engineer Georg Klein who became an aeronautical engineer after the war, said: “I don’t consider myself a crackpot or eccentric or someone given to fantasies.
“This is what I saw, with my own eyes; a Nazi UFO.”
The documentary also looks at the possibility the Roswell Incident was the crash of a Nazi craft called the Schriever-Habermohl, that was developed in Prague from 1941 to 1943.
The plans for it were taken back to America after the war.
Donald Trump and his administration are not good at keeping secrets. Gossip leaks constantly. He’s cavalier in handling classified documents. Members of his administration have shared classified information with other countries. He may be able to fend off investigation of his tax returns, but that’s just Republican stonewalling— he’s a transparent liar on the subject. Trump’s favorite secret is the one he can simultaneously affirm and withhold, like his plan to defeat ISIS in 30 days, or the “we are going to attack Mosul in four months” examplehe used to mock the idea of revealing any military policy whatsoever to the public. He would like it known that he holds the secrets. So how is it that he hasn’t tweeted something like “Don’t believe the main stream media. White House is running VERY WELL. They share all UFO secrets with me. Fake media not happy!”?
Amateur and professional UFO organizations alike have a shared political issue. They call it Disclosure. Disclosure can mean the release of newly declassified documents or testimony from former military officials, but it’s most often meant in a grander sense: the federal government revealing the existence of extraterrestrials on or in contact with Earth and the unveiling of their advanced technologies. It would be more than just validation of the UFO phenomena, but the beginning of a societal revolution, reordered around the advanced alien energy technologies the government currently holds in secret.
The most prominent expression of this united demand was the The Disclosure Project, which began in 1993 by lobbying the Clinton Administration, culminating in 1997 hearings from government and military UFO witnesses meant to push the government into open congressional hearings. None followed.
Since then they’ve re-targeted the bulk of their effort on collection and archiving, recording testimony from “scores of military, government and other witnesses to Unidentified Flying Objects and Extraterrestrial events and projects from around the world.” But hope renews every campaign season. There’s always the possibility that the next president will be the one willing to Disclose.
Though UFO hunters come from across the political spectrum, the Clintons have been major figures in the Disclosure discussion, largely thanks to Bill Clinton Chief of Staff and Hillary Clinton Campaign Chairman John Podesta, who has long been the most prominent Disclosure advocate in the country. Though he had failed to get files pertaining to UFOs and Area 51 disclosed during the first Clinton administration, he promised to pry them out of the second. Hillary was even asked about it on the campaign trail.
Trump is much more of an unknown quantity. The consensus on r/UFO seems to be that Disclosure is unlikely, while Disclosure lobbyist Stephen Bassett made a last-ditch effort to push the Justice Department into disclosing during Obama’s lame duck period, before the unpredictable new administration clamped whatever narrow possibility existed.
But now Trump is president and it seems like we hear everything they so much as chat about, from internal clashes between Steve Bannon and Reince Preibus to Trump’s TV fixation. Multiple drafts of every new executive order leak beforehand. It’s hard to imagine Trump learning about aliens without Bannon learning about aliens and using it in his ongoing pee fight with Jared Kushner.
So maybe he doesn’t know. Multiple intelligence community sources have said information is being withheld from Trump out of fear that it could endanger classified sources or leak to Russian intelligence groups. Disclosure could lie in unseen hands.
This is the theory mostly widely accepted in the UFO community generally. Just as with most other demographics and segments of the population, UFO hunters are condemnatory of government generally. We don’t trust it. Mat Baroudi summarizes the position neatly in the CNN segment above:
“I don’t think any presidential candidate is going to come out with the truth. It’s always behind close doors. The other thing too is the people who are running those opps circumnavigate the president. The president is just here to lead the country, or appear to lead the country. But I think that these people who are running this stuff are an entity on to themselves.”
So either Trump has become uncharacteristically good at keeping the best secrets without bragging about them, or the presidency is no longer an office in the loop.
There’s also the possibility most UFO hunters are beyond considering: if there is a genuine extraterrestrial UFO phenomenon, the government is unaware. There are multiple chapters in the FBI’s history akin to X-Files, though most are hidden more from embarrassment and chronic over-classification than because they hide a radically different interplanetary world order. The weight of thousands of sightings, including government documentation, preclude this possibility for most, a view shared with the 12% of Americans who believe in a government cover-up of aliens (a 1997 poll measured it at 37%, but asks a more open question). We might all be in the cosmic dark.
A UFO investigator is seeking witnesses to a 'flying saucer' reportedly seen by a group of children above an East Riding primary school.
On Friday, November 18, 1977, about 20 pupils of Wawne Primary School - aged six and seven - said they had seen a strange object.
The sighting featured on the front page of the Hull Daily Mail, with head teacher Michael Yates saying at the time: "I was talking to my wife when three children from her class rushed in and said they had seen something silvery in the sky."
Mr Yates had suggested that the children went away to draw or paint the object from memory.
"They decided to make Plasticine models," said Mr Yates. "And the odd thing is that these look very similar although the children had no opportunity to copy from each other."
Man who saw 'leapfrogging' lights over Bransholme to hold UFO convention:
He said: "I am trying to contact any of the witnesses to this event, as this year is 40 years since they experienced this sighting."
Mr Evers is particularly interested in hearing from a Lisa Pattison, who was then aged seven and of Church Crescent, Wawne, Claire Swift, Michael Yates and his wife Joyce.
INTRIGUED: Chris Evers wants to hear from those who spotted the strange object in the sky
"I do realise, of course, that the teachers may no longer be with us," he said.
Mr Evers said the sighting may feature in a convention, called 70 Years of the Modern UFO Era, that will take place on September 9 at the Freedom Centre, in Preston Road, east Hull.
His interest in all things extra-terrestrial was sparked in February 1974, when he saw strange light patterns, also in the skies above Bransholme.
"I saw two, bright lights leapfrogging each other in the sky," he previously told the Mail. "At that time, you'd often see aircraft flying over Bransholme - but they didn't move like an aircraft."
Anyone who can help shed light on the 1977 sighting is asked to call Mr Evers on 07962 397209.

Tom Delonge is about to reveal an alien conspiracy, Blink-182 singer suggests after receiving UFO award
Tom Delonge is about to reveal an alien conspiracy, Blink-182 singer suggests after receiving UFO award
'I kind of used some of my notoriety to try to do something pretty ambitious, and it worked,' he said in a taped message to the International UFO congress
Tom DeLonge has announced his departure from Blink-182 Ethan Miller/Getty Images
Tom Delonge could be about to expose an alien conspiracy, he has suggested.
Receiving an award for being "Researcher Of The Year" from the International UFO Congress, the Blink-182 co-founder suggested that he is about to make an announcement that could be a leap forward in the search for aliens.
Mr Delonge's search for UFOs has been ongoing since he left Blink-182 under disputed circumstances, that may be related to his work, two years ago. The mystery project has been sometimes mocked – but when WikiLeaks revealed hacked emails that suggested he had been consulting with some of the most important people in the US government, some changed their mind about his project.
The singer has previously suggested that he has met aliens near Area 51, and that he is being hunted by authorities because of the work he has been doing in investigating extraterrestrials and an apparent cover up. He has said before that he has had his phone tapped, for instance, because he has sources in the US government and has spoken to people who knew Nazi scientists.
He made reference to that work in the video, during which he also teased a revelation that would be made in the next 60 days. The mainstream press could miss the full significance of that revelation, he said, but he implored those watching the video who are a part of the UFO-hunting community to take "read between the lines" of what is announced.
There’s a lot that I can’t say, but there’s some that I can," he said in the speech. And I’m so appreciative that I’ve been acknowledged for this stuff, but I’m not done.
"I’m just like you guys. I spent 20 years up all night, reading about Roswell, Dulce, Serpo, Churchill, the crashes here, Nazis building craft there, Antarctica, what’s on Mars, what’s on the back of the moon, anomalous structures. I mean, I’ve done it all. I know it all. I read all the same authors as you guys, hundreds of books. I look at all the same sites. I listen to all the Coast To Coast stuff that you guys do. I’m the same.
"But I kind of used some of my notoriety to try to do something pretty ambitious, and it worked," he said, apparently referencing the upcoming announcement.
"I came out and told you guys about a book I was writing called Sekret Machines, and I said a bunch of stuff, that I was working with some people. Well, I think a lot of people doubted it, and they thought it was crazy that this musician would have this kind of access. And then the WikiLeaks thing happened, and you guys saw that I’m into some serious shit, and I’m making really good progress."
Those WikiLeaks emails brought much of Mr Delonge's work to the fore, and showed that he had consulted with Hillary Clinton campaign manager John Podesta on his work. Mr Delonge said in the messages that he had been talking to high-ranking officials in the US government.
Lee-Anne Peters from Hobart was looking out her window in the early hours of Tuesday morning when she saw what looked like a fireball streaking across the sky.
“I set my alarm to wake up early because it was my daughter’s 16th birthday,” she told BuzzFeed News. “My kitchen window has a great view of the eastern sky… Looking out the window while cooking I saw the object.”
Lee-Anne lives near an airport and at first thought the object was a plane, however she soon believed it was too high in the sky for that to be the case.
As her daughter grabbed a pair of binoculars, Lee-Anne got her video camera and zoomed in to film the whole thing.
After Lee-Anne posted the video to Facebook it was shared over 1,000 times. Then people began the debate about what exactly the object was.
Some thought it was an alien…
Some thought it was a plane…
And some wanted to be VERY CLEAR that it definitely was not a plane.
However Chris Arkle, an astronomer at Launceston Planetarium, told ABC News it was “definitely a high flying aircraft”.
“The length of time that the object was visible for, and its apparent speed, both support this hypothesis,” he said.
Of course, that’s probably exactly what the aliens would want you to be believe.

HOUSTON (KTRK) --The Mutual UFO Network in Houston reports about 80 suspected UFO sightings a year.
That's not including the ones that are seen but not reported.
One top UFO expert, Fletcher Gray, explains why so many of the sightings aren't UFOs. But, he also says there is one case that he still can't figure out.
FOTI KALLERGIS DEBUNKS HOUSTON UFO SIGHTINGS
Foti Kallergis and a top UFO investigator analyzed several recent sightings.
Just above the Katy area an orange light is spotted, seen floating around. Down below, sightseers are convinced it's a UFO.
Gray went back to Katy with Eyewitness News to investigate.
"It's flickering as it moves through the night sky," Gray says.
He says if it was a true UFO, the light would not be flickering. He does tell us what he thinks the light is.
"It's probably going to be some type of aircraft or a lantern," he says. Case closed.

This photo was taken by Alfonso Servin on Friday, Feb. 20, 2015. He said he is convinced it is a UFO.
Gray says most sightings reported to MUFON in Houston can be explained.
Gray says UFOs are real, and told us what he thinks they want from our planet.
"They're seeking out and learning our planet, if that's the case," Gray said. "It could be something they are doing research with, something that has antigravity capabilities."
Hi there and welcome to UFO today. Yesterday a news report hit the wires stating the number of UFO sightings is increasing exponentially worldwide. The article was based on a blogpost from Sam Monfort, a doctoral student in Human Factors and Applied Cognition at George Mason University. Monfort reported his findings in a blog update that used information from the National UFO Reporting Center. I’ll link to his blog in the notes below.
I wanted to give my personal view on the reasons why the number of sightings in increasing.
Number of people increased since the first sightings were logged by several organization including the government. We are now with 7.5 billion people on spaceship earth, while after world war 2 this was only 2,5 billion.
The number of camera’s in the world heavily increased since digital cameras were introduced and especially since these cameras are integrated with peoples phones. I They carry them all the time, everywhere they go. In the graph you can see that by now some 2,5 billion people use a smartphone with camera on a daily basis. Also the number of security cams has gone up exponentially, in 2014 it was estimated that there are 250 million cctv cameras in use everyday, and this number is increasing rapidly. These are the 2 factors that have huge influence on the number of daily UFO reports. A higher number of people that can witness a UFO and the easy access to a recording device. (although a lot of sightings are not captured on camera)
Besides these 2 main factors there are a couple more that helped increasing the number of reported sightings. The number of organizations that research the phenomenon and the number of organization where people can report a sighting has also increased. It has become easier to file a report directly to the organizations that do the research. Before the internet came along people that came forward with their report contacted the police and in some cases these reports weren’t taken seriously and never ended up in the statistics. These days the subject of UFO’s is treated with a more respect than a couple of decades ago. This lowers the threshold for people to file a report without being afraid of being ridiculed for what they have witnessed. After project bluebook became public, people took the topic more seriously because if the government was investigation these sightings, there must be some scientific reason for that.
A last factor I want to talk about is the fact that the number of UFO sightings may have increased because people start to believe in them. Could it be that these unidentified objects are somehow intelligent and only show themselves to people who actually believe in them? The UFO subject is very complex and in some cases people report that the object was interacting with them in some way. I’m counting out the possibility that the number of sightings has increased because people are more tuned in to see them.
The last factors I want to add to the discussion are the increased number of planes and drones in our skies. A lot of UFO reports can be explained by regular planes and drones. And there are of course the secret aircraft that are being tested, which have capabilities we don’t even know about.

Truth about aliens will soon be revealed - and it will be key to saving Earth, says expert
Truth about aliens will soon be revealed - and it will be key to saving Earth, says expert
AN ALIEN hunter claims the truth about extraterrestrials visiting Earth will soon seep out - and once it does it will mean we can finally save the planet.
Scott C Waring, editor of ufosightingsdaily.com, says a reported increase in UFO sightings means the world leaders behind an alleged cover-up over alien contact will no longer be able to keep it quiet.
According to data from the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC), UFO sightings around the world have reached an all-time high.
US-based NUFORC, an organisation that keeps a database of alleged sightings, says its statistics show people in the US are more likely to report a UFO sighting.
Mr Waring wrote in a blog about the increase: "The internet has caused many things to change in our world.
"One of them being that more UFO sightings are being reported daily than ever before.
"It's my estimate that over hundreds of UFOs per day are being seen by thousands of eyewitnesses, but still only a few of them report the sightings.
"Evidence is growing on a daily basis, which will one day confirm that aliens exist.

CIA report claims 23 Russian soldiers were killed by aliens
The internet has caused many things to change in our world. One of them being that more UFO sightings are being reported daily than ever before.
Scott C Waring
"Cameras and online sharing networks are changing, making sharing these sightings easier, more convenient."
Many conspiracy theorists believe world leaders have actually met with visiting aliens, but kept it from us for fear of the impact it would have on religion and the rule of law.
But, there is a disclosure lobby pressing for the alleged "truth embargo" to be lifted.
They also hope the incresae in sightings will force the truth out, as Mr Waring does.
Conspiracy theorists also believe that new technology brought to earth by aliens, such as costless energy, and advancements in food and medicine, that could all help the planet.
Speaking about new details in the case of alleged alien abductee Travis Walton, who claims he was accidentally killed by a UFO and then brought back to life by aliens, Mr Waring added: "He was taken aboard the alien craft because when he got too close to the UFO, a burst of energy came from it, probably from the anti gravity propulsion, and killed him.
"The aliens then took him aboard the UFO and brought him back to life.
"This is the very reason that humans and aliens need to make open public contact so that such resources as medical technology, food technology and fuel technology can be shared to improve the quality of life across the globe for all."

EXCLUSIVE: Truth about the mysterious 'black cube UFOs' seen 'draining energy from Sun'
AS UFO claims go it has been one of the most bizarre - black cubes bigger than planets found in NASA images of the Sun, that some conspiracy theorists claim are monster alien craft draining solar energy.
Scott C Waring appears to have added the black square to this image.
Oddly, many people have been left convinced by posts on certain UFO websites and YouTube channels that there may be some credit to the theory.
But, Express.co.uk can expose the latest claims, at least, as nothing more than a digitally-edited hoax.
Scott C Waring, who edits the popular ufosightingsdaily.com, has featured the black cubes on his website a number of times.
His latest post on them, published today featured claims he had found another one in an image taken by the the European space agency’s Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO), which he found online yesterday.
The images are then published by NASA.
The version of the image shown on Mr Waring's website today, shows a black square, much bigger than earth in comparison to the sun, in the top left corner of the solar image.
Mr Waring posted a blog with the image entitled "Giant Borg Cube UFO Seen Orbiting Sun In NASA Photo

"A spectacular plane coloured by the rising sun. Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Spotted here in Sorell just after 6.30am Tuesday 28th Feb 2017," she wrote, along with the video, which has already received over 88,000 views, 900 reactions, 1,400 shares and 650 comments.
People actually thought that the "fireball" was a meteorite or a chemtrail, or an UFO!. Several commented on the status message.
"I read it was a UFO and sightings of landing with police sectioning the area off. Very hush hush stuff. Potential alien encounter," a user commented suggesting that it might be an airplane.
"The aliens are coming," said another user.
"It's a plane. I looked it up because I thought it was moving too slowly. It's the orange glow of the contrails due to the sunrise. Spectacular footage nonetheless, but not a fireball," one user commented.
However, several were of the opinion that the "fireball" was not a plane. "It looks like a plane to start with. But it's so dense up close to the wings," a user said.
Another said, "Haha not a plane.. since when does a plane fly pretty much straight down towards the earth?"
Johanna PatersonThe "fire" trail is actually the jet stream with the sunrise glowing through it. There is no fire or burning, it's literally an optical illusion and it was a plane
According to ABC News, Australian Airservice spokesperson confirmed that it was nothing but an aircraft since it moved over Australian airspace.
Mashable also reported that the object was an Emirates flight EK448 flying over Hobart, Tasmania, at 6.30 am.
Sydney's Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences explained on its blog as to how the aircraft appeared to be so beautiful: "If the trails are seen around the time of sunrise or sunset they can take on a wonderful golden colour and if seen off in the distance making them look low near the horizon they can look just like the common misconception of a comet."
In a recent article for Nautilus, Harvard physicist and cosmologist Lisa Randall speculates about what she calls “dark matter life.” Since dark matter is thought to constitute 85 percent of the mass in the universe, is it reasonable to imagine some kind of life based on this mysterious substance? Dark matter does not seem to interact with the stuff we are made of, but it might interact with itself, or at least some fraction of it might. If it does, what kinds of structures could it build? Could any of those structures constitute “life?”
Unfortunately, if dark matter life does exist, Randall says it would be incredibly difficult to detect. It would interact only very weakly with familiar matter, most likely by gravitational force, which is the weakest of all nature’s forces. In principle, it could exist right under our noses here on Earth, and we wouldn’t see it.
The idea of dark matter life, of course, is highly speculative. But the concept of a type of biology unknown to us, coexisting but not interacting with the familiar life on our planet, has been suggested previously by Carol Cleland and Shelley Copley. They proposed that a second type of life may exist on Earth that originated independently to form a “shadow biosphere” that is different biochemically from our own. Paul Davies and colleagues later elaborated on how such a shadow biosphere could be detected.
So far, we have not found any life on Earth with a significantly different biochemistry. All known terrestrial life shares the same chemical building blocks, and life has been incredibly successful at inhabiting all the places it possibly can. Is this because the life that appeared first on our planet was the best adapted? If different types of life originated early in Earth’s history, perhaps our type outcompeted all other variations.
Or do other types of life exist on our planet that we just haven’t found yet? If such a shadow biosphere does exist, maybe it’s in obscure ecological niches, like deep in the crustal rocks or at ocean floor vents. If so, that would explain why we haven’t detected it. The methods we use to search for and analyze life on our planet, mostly via DNA sequencing and culturing, are aimed specifically at our type of life. It is not difficult to imagine that we could overlook life of a different kind, even if it existed right here.
Indeed, it makes some sense to look for “alien” life on Earth before looking on extraterrestrial worlds. But it’s difficult to search for something when we don’t know exactly what to look for, whether it’s dark matter biology or a shadow biosphere.
As always, we need to stay open-minded. We live in a vast universe, and our minds would likely be completely boggled if we truly understood all the diversity of forms and functions that life can exhibit.

Mansch On Montana: UFO sighting still resonates
Mansch On Montana: UFO sighting still resonates
Scott Mansch , smansch@greatfallstribune.comPublished
It’s been nearly 50 years since Robert Salas was a young missileer stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base and, on a mid-March night in a silo near Roy, became an unwitting witness to history.
Awake and alert underground in the early morning while his commander rested in a two-person compartment where men manage missiles, Robert was alerted by security guards up top.
“They told me about strange lights in the sky,” Robert says. “I thought they were pulling my leg.”
About 10 minutes later the phone rang again.
“This time he was clearly frightened, extremely frightened,” Robert says. “He was looking right at the thing, a glowing red object, oval-shaped and some 40 feet in diameter, and it was hovering above the front gate.”
UFO now believed to be H2O
UFO captured? Clancy man believes he proves they exist
It was March 1967. When the Montana missiles malfunctioned.
Salas has written two books about this: “Faded Giant” and “Unidentified, The UFO Phenomenon.”
He considers them nonfiction to be sure.
THERE WERE TWOstrange incidents just days apart nearly 50 years ago when missiles in the midst of Montana were rendered temporarily inoperable. Robert, who came to Great Falls in 1966 after graduating from the Air Force Academy, was there on one of the harrowing nights.
It’s called the Oscar Flight, in reference to the name of the site.
“I was shocked,” he says.
And what happened the next day, he says, was even more stunning.
He was asked – basically ordered, he says - by commanders to sign a non-disclosure document in which he pledged to never talk about the incident.
“That haunted me,” Robert says. “It haunted me for a long, long time.”
Because, he says, the truth is this:
“It was an unidentified flying object that nobody could explain. To this day,” he says. “The Air Force investigated this secretly, I believe through 1972. I think this thing was not of this earth. I’m convinced it was not built here, because it was able to send signals to each of our missiles separately. The guidance and control equipment was upset in each one.”
ROBERT UNDERSTANDSpeople are skeptical about UFOs. But undeniably there is a history of such sightings in Montana, particularly in this part of the state.
In 1950 there was an incident reported at the Great Falls ballpark that’s been the subject of many studies. Hence the ballclub is now called the “Voyagers,” the mascot of which is a warm and funny creature that makes people of all ages smile.
Not that Robert considers his work any laughing matter.
“This,” he says, “is a real phenomenon. It’s not science fiction. The public and public media has kept it pretty much in the laugh track of reporting. It hasn’t been taken seriously. But I’ve got a lot of evidence that shows it truly did happen. And also involving the Air Force investigation and basically the whitewashing of the whole thing.”
He says the decision to remain silent bothered him for decades, for the rest of his military service and subsequent working career in the public sector. Then one day in 1994 he came across a book by Timothy Good called “Above Top Secret: The Worldwide UFO Cover-Up,” and about 300 pages in discovered a paragraph stating that UFOs were involved in a missile shutdown in 1967.
That’s the night he was on duty. The Air Force had declassified the information.
Since then, Robert has been on a mission.
“Ever since I’ve been committed to revealing the reality of this phenomenon,” Robert says. “This is something the public needs to know and believe in. The public needs to know that it’s true and that there has been an ongoing cover-up. That’s why I’m committed.”
Montana Album: Multi-Sports; aliens and firearms
LIVING NOW INCalifornia, Robert is still an active investigator. He says UFO sightings have occurred many times in the last 50 years, including a 2010 incident at Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyo., when 50 Minuteman nuclear missiles mysteriously malfunctioned.
“The Air Force,” Robert says, “is in denial.”
But why?
“Well, I can tell you a couple reasons,” he says. “No. 1 these objects can do some pretty fantastic things and it would have military applications if they were able to recover an object and deconstruct it. They consider the technology they’ve gleaned from them (very significant), and I’m confident they’ve recovered many of these items.
“Another issue is that it’s an international cover-up. UFO incidents been going on for many, many years, and there must be an international group, in intelligence, obtaining this information and sharing it. The other aspect of why they keep it a secret is because it’s political capital between nations.”
Robert resigned his Air Force commission in 1971 because, he says, “Vietnam got too much for me to stomach.”
That’s not to suggest he isn’t patriotic.
“I consider myself a patriot,” he says. “Even though I’m convinced there are cover-ups going on that the public needs to know about. I think a good patriot is someone who influences people’s right to know.”
MANY BELIEVE, of course, in heaven and hell. In angels and spirits. And in an afterlife. So perhaps it is naïve for people to be convinced there could not be life among the stars and beyond?
And maybe, just maybe somebody was trying to tell us something by shutting down those missiles in 1967. A statement against war, perhaps.
“Exactly,” Robert says. “I think this was a message, just a message. Because they did not damage the equipment. It wasn’t like they destroyed the weapons. It was just a weapon. I believe we have got to get rid of nuclear weapons because they’re so dangerous.”
Of course in the present political climate this is very much an issue.
“We’re starting another nuclear arms race,” says Robert, referring to his perception of the new administration in Washington.
WE LIVE IN SUCH PRISTINEcountry, the middle of Montana, where one envisions the landscape unaltered for centuries.
That is, until the fenced missile silo facilities are noticed.
President John F. Kennedy is said to have famously referred to the Malmstrom missiles as the country’s “Ace in the Hole.”
Roberts laughs.
“Well, at the time we considered the communist countries a threat to us,” he says. “But times change.”
ROBERT HASN’T BEENback to Great Falls for five or six years. To think that 50 years has passed since the incident that changed his life, he says, is sobering. Talk about unsolved mysteries.
“I’ve been making video clips and will publish them on YouTube,” he says. “I guess that’s the way I’ll celebrate this 50-year anniversary.”
What would Robert say to folks who continue to scoff at his conclusions?
“I’d say they should do their homework before making such statements,” Robert says. “Not only myself, but multiple Air Force officers have come forward talking about similar incidents. So it’s not just me talking about this.
“There is good evidence and plenty of documents and testimony that support the phenomenon.”
Northern lights appear regularly in our part of the world. And some 50 years ago men from Malmstrom were witnesses to lights not necessarily out of the north that, Robert Salas believes, were not of this world.
The takeaway, Robert Salas believes, is this:
Perhaps we all should be mindful we’re not alone.
“Exactly,” Robert says. “That’s exactly right.”

Over 90% of sightings recorded in the the past 100 years have occurred since 2000.
In 1980 there were just 5,000 – but in 2010 there has been a massive spike to around 45,000 sightings each year, an 800% increase.
There have been at least 104,947 reported UFO sightings across the world since the early 1900s according to findings by Sam Monfort, a PhD student at George Mason University, in the US.

SEARCHING FOR ANSWERS: UFO sighting have had a massive spike
VIZTHIS.WORDPRESS.ORG/ SAM MONFORT
SIGHTINGS: Reported sighting around the world
Monfort plotted the sightings on a "heat map” of the world.
The UK and Australia were mapped as hotspots, while he listed the US as the top nation for reports of alien visits.
When it comes to conspiracy theories and modern preoccupations, few things are more popular than unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and alien abductions. For over half a century, there have been rumors, reports, and urban legends about aliens coming to Earth, dabbling with our genetics, and conducting weird (and often invasive) experiments on our citizens.
And while opinions on what drives this popular phenomenon tend to differ (some say hysteria, others that it is media-driven), a few things are clear. For one, sightings appear to take place far more in the United States than anywhere else in the world. And in recent years, these sightings have been on the rise!
Such are the conclusions of a series of visualizations based on the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC). Established in 1974 (and located in Davenport, Washington), the National UFO Reporting Center is “dedicated to the collection and dissemination of objective UFO data”. Since that time, they have been monitoring UFO sightings worldwide and have maintained careful logs about the 104,947 sightings that have taken place since 1905.

Using this data, Sam Monfort – a Doctoral Candidate from the department of Human Factors & Applied Cognition at George Mason University – produced a series of visuals that illustrate the history of UFO sightings. And based on the visualized trends, some rather interesting conclusions can be drawn. The most obvious is that the geographical distribution of sightings is hardly even. For starters, reports in the USA were equal to about 2500 sightings per 10 million people.
This is almost 300 times higher than the global average. Based on individual states, the concentration of sightings was also quite interesting. Apparently, more sightings happen (per 10 million people) in the West and Northwest, with the highest numbers coming from Washington and Montana. Oregon, Idaho, Arizona and New Mexico also made strong showings, while the Great Lakes and Midwestern states were all consistent with the national median.
On the opposite coast, Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire all had a good number of sightings per capita, though the state of New York even as New York was beneath the national median. Texas actually ranked the lowest, and was followed by the Southern states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. But as Monfort told Universe Today via email, this may be slightly skewed because of who is collecting the information:
“[I]t’s worth mentioning that the NUFORC is an American agency (“N” stands for “National”). They make an effort to record international sightings (phone banks staffed 24/7), but I’d guess that sightings in the USA are still over-represented. Honestly, I’d bet that the NUFORC being based in Seattle is the main reason we see so many more sightings in the States. A more thorough analysis might cross-reference sightings from other agencies, like MUFON.”
The geographic breakdown of annual UFO sightings (per 10 million people) in the US. Credit: sammonfort3
Canadians did not do much better, coming at second place after the United States with 1000 sightings per 10 million people. And according to a recent article by Allan Maki of The Globe and Mail, its becoming more common – with a record 1982 sightings reported in 2012. He also suggests that this could be due to a combination of growing interest in the subject and reduced stigma.
Iceland, the UK, Australia, the Virgin Islands and Cyprus all ranked a distant third, with between 250 and 500 sightings per 100 million people per year. New Zealand, Mexico, Israel and the Gulf States also produced considerable returns, as did the United Kingdom, Ireland, Portugal, Belgium, Danemark, Finland, Sweden and Norway.
From this distribution, one might make the generalization that more developed nations are more likely to report UFOs (i.e. better record-keeping and all that). And this is a possibility which Monfort explored. In another visualization, he cross-referenced the number of sightings in a respective country with amount of internet access it has (per 100 people), and a limited correlation was shown.
Nations like Israel and the Gulf States have a higher number of sightings than neighboring countries like Syria, Saudi Arabia and Iraq, while South Africa has more reported sightings than several North African and Sub-Saharan African nations surveyed. However, fast-developing nations like Russia, China and India showed a lower than average level of sightings, while Guyana and Suriname showed a higher than average level.
The number of UFO sightings per year, subdivided based on the type of object reported.

France, Italy and the Czech Republic also lagged behind many of their European counterparts, and Germany and Spain were only slightly higher than the average. So much like distribution by state within the US, internet access does not seem to be a consistent determining factor. Another interesting visualization was the one which broke down the sightings per decade based on the nature of the sighting.
As you can see from the table above, when UFO sightings first began in the early 20th century, they reportedly took the form of either a sphere or a cigar-shaped object. This differs from the 1920s, when “flying saucers” began to appear, and remained the dominant trend throughout World War II and the Cold War era. And ever since the 1990s – what Monfort refers to as “post-internet” era – the most common UFO sightings took the form of bright lights.
“If I had to guess, I’d say it was a combination of factors,” said Monfort. “Like I mentioned in the blog, it seems a lot more plausible that someone would see strange lights in the sky than a flying object with a concrete shape (like a saucer). Seeing a shape implies that the object is pretty close to you, “and if it’s that close why didn’t you take a video of it?”
As for other factors, Monfort considers the possibility of fireworks and (as one comment on his blog suggested) Chinese lanterns. “Those are the little paper balloons you light a candle in and let fly. Some of the bright light sightings could be those, especially since I’d bet most Chinese lanterns are released in groups, with several people going out in groups to release them together. (Often people report formations of lights.)”
Naturally, the data does not support any ironclad conclusions, and plenty can be said about its reliability and methodology. After all, while UFO sightings are documented, they are famous for being routinely debunked. Nevertheless, visuals like these are interesting in illustrated the patterns of sightings, and can allow for some insightful speculation as to why they take place.

Don’t Be Alarmed If You Can’t Remember — Signs You’ve Been Abducted By Aliens
Don’t Be Alarmed If You Can’t Remember — Signs You’ve Been Abducted By Aliens
I don’t want to alarm anyone, but did you know that there have been hundreds of thousands of people who have claimed, being a victim of a UFO alien abduction at least once in their lifetime, most without them even being aware of it.
Imagine that? Over hundreds of thousands of people, including many movie stars, (Shirley MacLaine comes to mind), tons of army personnel and some political leaders, people from all walks of life.
They did a study on it! At Wyoming State. A professor named R. Leo Sprinkle. He says, there are certain characteristics and sensations people have in common after being abducted.
Have you ever missed a few minutes? Maybe an hour? How about a day?Where you just can’t remember, if your life depended on it, where the time went. How about a feeling or sensing something happened but you just can’t put your finger on it? It’s happened to me, not just once and seems to be happening on a more frequent basis lately.
I’ve dreamed of flying saucers, hell, I’ve dreamed I actually flew. I’ve dreamed of weird places and ugly creatures from far off worlds. Name your nightmare and I’ve dreamt it. I’ve even had flashbacks of all the above.
I’ve had urges to take off, I mean go on a trip, not that kind of trip, a vacation. Is that odd? And, I’ve always had an interest in UFOs, maybe not suddenly but more like in spurts including ancient history, magic and wicca, almost everything odd, strange or peculiar. That’s just me.
All of these symptoms, says Professor Sprinkle, are signs that you’ve been abducted by a UFO at some time in your life, but when it comes to me personally, I have other theories on alien abductions. To me, even though I’m a firm believer in UFOs, it’s more likely to stem from what I’ve been drinking or smoking the night before, which give me these strange sensations and characteristics and has nothing to do with an alien abduction, at all. I still won’t rule it out altogether, though.

UFO sightings hit all-time high, report says
UFO sightings hit all-time high, report says
GOP hoping for clarity on ObamaCare, tax reform from Trump
UFOs are visiting at all-time highs, according to new statistics, which say that sightings are most common in the U.S.
The findings are based on data crunched by Sam Monfort, a doctoral student in Human Factors and Applied Cognition at George Mason University. Monfort wrote up his findings in a blog update that used information from the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC), an organization that documents UFO sightings.
According to Monfort's report, UFOs have been increasingly popping in, with 104,947 reported sightings on record over the past 100-plus years.
The first recorded flyby occurred in Portland in 1905, where viewers reported seeing a “buzzing” sphere-shaped UFO that descended from the heavens. But sightings have spiked dramatically over the past 30-plus years, with the reported number jumping from around 5,000 in 1980, to roughly 45,000 in 2010.
Other information from Monfort’s findings points to the UFO phenomenon being a fairly U.S.-based trend. The nation collectively reports 2,500 sightings per 10 million people, which is 300 times more than the global median. More sightings are reported in states in the West and Northwest, with some states in the Northeast not far behind.
Monfort thinks that America's rate of internet connectivity may explain the large number of U.S. sightings. “Why are Americans obsessed with UFOs? Maybe it’s related to Internet access,” he wrote. “You have to have Internet access to submit a report, after all.”
