CHENNAI: In the previous eight columns we discussed the validity of the UFO phenomenon and how efforts even at the highest levels of the American government to seek Disclosure has not borne fruit. But one question many readers keep asking me is why are they coming?

UFOs are not crossing oceans of space and time to visit Earth to see the Taj Mahal or the Pyramids at Giza. The reason can be given in one line. E=MC square. In 1945 we turned this equation into a weapon and they responded.

Since the 1940s there have been many, sometimes repeatedly, UFO incursions at American nuclear weapons manufacturing installations, test sites like Nevada, Pacific Islands, and Weapons Storage Areas like Malmstrom, Loring, Wurtsmith, F E Warren, Kirkland and Fairchild Air Force Bases as well as RAF Bases in England and nuclear bases in former Soviet Union.

But it is only in recent times that 100s of U.S military veterans who were in charge of nuclear facilities and missile bases have come forward to openly testify about these extraordinary incidents thanks to the efforts of UFO researcher Robert Hastings who after interviewing more than 150 military veterans regarding their involvement in nuclear weapons related UFO incidents at various bases around the world since the 1940s, published in 2008 the 600 page book UFOs and Nukes: Extraordinary Encounters at Nuclear Weapons Sites which provided a comprehensive summary of their revelations.

This book exposed the American government’s cover up on incidents involving UFOs and its nuclear weapons and installations. Hastings and Robert Salas one of the officers involved in the 1967 Malmstrom missile/UFO incident even appeared in CNN’s Larry King live program and shared their experiences.

But as usual the American mainstream media and the government ignored these events. The American government and media finds a bunch of Jihadis hiding in the mountains of South Waziristan and Yemen plotting to attack America with AK-47 guns and RDX explosives more dangerous and news worthy than the warnings of people like Hastings. If Hastings, Salas and 150 former military officers are lying about UFOs tampering with nuclear missiles, then they must be tried before the law or their warnings must be taken seriously and acted upon. But neither of the two is happening.

American government’s official policy shrouded in secrecy and dictated by a small unelected, unaccountable group is — See no UFO, Hear no UFO, Speak no UFO. Because any acknowledgement of UFOs will inevitably lead to the release of radical energy clean, green energy technologies that will get rid of our addiction to fossil fuels, which in other words means granting Energy-Independence to 1.3 billion Indians who right now only enjoy political independence. As of now 20 American companies control the world oil market and any truth about UFOs can easily destroy that.

From their perspective as Hastings and Friedman point out, UFOs want to make sure that these children (human race) who have found a gun (atomic power) don’t create problems for them. During the Second World War humans managed to murder 60 million of their own kind. In 1945 humans tested the atom bomb. Few weeks later they dropped it on their own kind — twice. Not surprisingly, the same UFOs started showing up all over the world. In 1903 the Wright Brothers made the first manned flight, 66 years later, in 1969 humans walked on the moon. ETs would be wondering what would happen if these warlike, destructive species start colonising space?

Stanton Friedman notes that during his lectures when he asks his audience — If you were an Alien, would you want Earthlings out there? The answer has always been NO.

More than a decade ago, a bizarre six-inch skeleton was discovered in Chile’s Atacama Desert, spurring claims that extraterrestrial visitors had crash-landed on Earth.

Now, alien investigators of the internet have spotted what they say could be a living member of the same species.

Just feet away from Nasa’s Curiosity rover, YouTube user Paranormal Crucible claims a tiny humanoid alien can be seen spying from behind a Martian rock.

The original image was captured by the Curiosity rover’s Mastcam, revealing the rocky landscape of the red planet.

But at the bottom-center of the photo, Paranormal Crucible claims to have found something strange.

‘Interesting anomolie [sic] found by the rover, which looks like a little Martian,’ the Youtuber wrote.

‘I have colorized the image and added eyes to the head so its easier to see, but everything is there in the original images, whatever it is it looks humanoid, reminds me of the Atacama Alien, about the same size too, this one is around 6 inches.’

WHY WE SEE STRANGE THINGS ON MARS

Pareidolia is the psychological response to seeing faces and other significant and everyday items in random stimulus.

It is a form of apophenia, when people see patterns in random, unconnected data.

There have been multiple occasions when people have claimed to see religious images and themes in unexpected places.

On the red planet, one of the most famous is the 'face on Mars' spotted by one of the Viking orbiters in 1976.

This was later proven to just be a chance alignment of shifting sand dunes.

Commenters have speculated that the small figure is likely a Martian woman, based on the shape of its ‘body.’

On UFOSightings Daily, editor Scott C. Waring added to the claims, writing that the figure in the photo is of a Martian species that is alive, but dwindling.

‘This human-like figure is peering around the corner of a rock wall and I can make out its head, chest, shoulders, arm, leg, knee, and foot from this one close up photo,’ Waring writes.

Due to the estimated size, Paranormal Crucible says it ‘could be the same species’ as the ‘Atacama alien.’ In 2013, however, it was revealed that DNA tests on the tiny skeleton found in Chile confirmed that the bizarre specimen was not an alien, but a human with an ‘interesting mutation’

THE MYSTERIOUS 'ATACAMA ALIEN' SKELETON 

The 'Atacama alien' remains were found on October 19, 2003 by a man named Oscar Munoz while he was looking for objects of historical value in La Noria – a ghost town in the Atacama Desert.

Near an abandoned church, Munoz found a white cloth containing ‘a strange skeleton no bigger than 15cm [the size of a pen],’ according to a local Chilean newspaper. 

It was a creature with hard teeth, a bulging head with an additional odd bulge on top.

Its body was scaly and of dark color. Unlike humans, it had nine ribs.

A few years ago, researchers from Stanford University analysed DNA from bone marrow extracted from the specimen.

They concluded that it was an 'interesting mutation' of a male human that had survived post-birth for between six and eight years.

‘I can say with absolute certainty that it is not a monkey.

'It is human - closer to human than chimpanzees. It lived to the age of six to eight,’ Garry Nolan, director of stem cell biology at Stanford University's School of Medicine in California, said at the time.

Summer is officially here, which means UFO sightings are bound to spike until late September, as they have for roughly the last 65 years.

In honor of the summer ritual, Tech Insider dug through the mountain of CIA documentsrelated to UFO sightings, which the agency declassified nearly 40 years ago. Many of the sighting reports date back to the early 1950s, at a time when political tensions were high and flying objects were seen as national security threats.

Here are some of the most interesting.

1. A memo on national security and the 'vulnerability to air attack' from flying saucers

CIA

On October 2, 1952, the Assistant Director in the Office of Scientific Intelligence sent a memoto the Director of the entire CIA with the subject "Flying Saucers."

As the AD wrote, "'Flying saucers' pose two elements of danger which have national security implications. The first involves mass psychological considerations and the second concerns the vulnerability of the United States to air attack."

The AD recommended more research be conducted to explore the "implications of the 'flying saucer' problem."

(If you listen closely enough, you can almost hear them typing the word "drones" decades ahead of time.)

2. mysterious light show

The late 1940s in the Uzbekistan capital city of Tashkent saw more unidentified light shows than it could count. 

"From May to September 1947," a CIA information report reads, "three light phenomena happening at intervals of about 15 minutes were seen almost every night between 9 and 10 p.m. local time." At its highest point, the light seemed to be roughly a fifth the diameter of a full moon.

As the report details, the light always began as a bright red ball. Within seconds it would grow a fiery tail and then morph into a green, then white, mass.

"Smoke trails, noises, or detonations were not noticed."

3. Fiery disks looming over Belgian uranium mines

A daily newspaper in Vienna, of all publications, reported on a peculiar sighting of "two fiery disks" hovering over uranium mines in mid-August, 1952.

As the report explains, the two objects supposedly tore through the airspace in a highly erratic fashion. At one point they would be soaring vertically away from the onlookers, and the next they'd be diving down "to within 20 meters of the tree tops."

Commander Pierre of the local airfield took off in his own fighter plane to wrangle the unknown aircraft. However, "Pierre had to give up pursuit after 15 minutes since both disks, with a loud whistling sound which he heard despite the noise of his own plane, disappeared in a straight line toward Lake Tanganyika."

Pierre later estimated the disks were traveling more than 900 miles per hour. 

4 The East German flying saucers of 1952

The CIA published this internal document reporting on one German man's fantastic account of a 45-foot-wide disk he spotted in a forest when his motorcycle broke down.

Accompanied by his 11-year-old daughter, the man approached the strange-looking object to find two men in "shiny metallic clothing" kneeling over the disk, which had a cone-shaped capsule on top.

Once the two men realized they were being watched, the man says, they hopped into the capsule and the disk began to leave the ground. Eventually, it rose high above the trees and took off.

"I had never heard of the term 'flying saucer' before I escaped from the Soviet Union into West Berlin," the man later said. "When I saw this object, I immediately thought it was a new Soviet military machine."

5. The CIA begins to have its doubts about UFOs

With all these reports coming in, it didn't take long for the CIA to get suspicious. In August 1952 (keep in mind, still two months ahead of its memo on those two national security concerns), the Deputy Assistant Director of the Scientific Intelligence office released a memodiscounting the threat posed by UFOs.

"Of 1000 to 2000 such reports received by ATIC (Air Technical Intelligence Center), a large percentage are clearly 'phoney,'" the report reads. In fact, many of the reported flights were easily explained as known missions using US equipment, the report went on.

Owing to the agency's uncertainty, however, the Deputy AD recommended CIA surveillance continue on the mysterious "flying saucers" under the cover of darkness. 

"It is strongly urged ... that no indication of CIA interest or concern reach the press or public," the report read, "in view of their probable alarmist tendencies to accept such interest as 'confirmatory' of the soundness of 'unpublished facts' in the hands of the U.S. government."

6. Flying objects passing over Casablanca

CIA

In early September 1952, multiple sightings were reported of various UFOs over Casablanca, Morocco. Residents of the town, which was made famous by the 1942 film, saw two flying saucers that were "elongated in shape" and "followed by a trail of white light."

On a separate occasion in July, two other people reported seeing a "blue-green, ball-shaped object" just before midnight "moving at a high rate of speed." The mysterious object disappeared after only three or four seconds, however, "as though it had literally melted into the sky."

The very next morning, another couple observed a mysterious object around 9 a.m. for roughly 30 seconds. Several more accounts, all with differing details, emerged that summer.

7. A year later, the unidentified aircraft is spotted in Morocco again...

On the night of September 2, 1953, residents of a small town southeast of Casablanca known as Oued Zem reported hearing a thunderous noise. The next morning, a pair of shepherds claimed to have seen a flying object that was "lighted in many colors and flying at great speed."

The sightings followed two other incidents in July and August, one over Greece and another over Spain. Witnesses in Madrid described the UFO as "flying like a jet plane" but emitting a red reflection and creating no noise.

In Drama, Greece, residents said they saw a rocket-shaped object at low altitude, which stayed stationary for three to four minutes before disappearing into the night.

8. Europe can't agree about what people are seeing in the sky

In the span of a month between April 15 and May 13, 1954, five separate reports from France and Sweden each described UFOs of a different size and shape.

The first, on April 15, involved an elongated, cone-shaped object with two red and green lights at its base. It flew at a high altitude.

The next, on April 26, was a "cigar-shaped object" observed by a group of people walking through France's Sare region, near the Pyrenees border. The object was traveling at a high altitude — roughly 6,500 feet, the observers claimed — and heading toward Spain.

The final event took place the morning of May 13, in Sweden. Three people separately reported seeing a "brilliant, silver-colored sphere with a tail."

9. Three Norwegian guys walk into a forest...

In mid-November 1952, three men working in a forest in Kirkenes, Norway spotted a flat, round object just hovering roughly 1,500 feet in the air.

"The object appeared to have a diameter of 15-20 meters (50-65 feet)," the CIA report stated. "After the workers had observed the object for a while, it suddenly flew away at great speed in a northwesternly direction."

They were the only people who reported seeing the object, unfortunately for them. "They swear, however, that their report is true."

WAS AN ANCIENT ‘VIMANA’ REALLY UNEARTHED IN 2012?? (Video)

An ancient “flying machine”  (or parts thereof) reportedly were discovered in a cave in Afghanistan and retreived in 2012, and the news was immediately hushed. The hushed report of the ‘find’ did attracted the attention of world leaders including Barack Obama. 

The Vimana (a flying machine often described in Sanskrit texts) was discovered by a group of 8 U.S. soldiers on a mission in the desert of Afghanistan.

The 5,000 year old machine is believed to be protected by an energy barrier, preventing the troops from removing it from the cave.

US Military scientists were  deployed to Afghanistan to investigate the disappearance of the eight American soldiers (who were later found asleep after a hard day), and to get more information in what is causing the Vimana to be entrapped in what some are calling a “time well” in the cave.

From the ancient accounts found in the Sanskrit epic The Mahabharata a Vimana is described as measuring twelve cubits in circumference, with four strong wheels. Apart from its ‘blazing missiles’, The Mahabharata records the use of its other deadly weapons that operated via a circular ‘reflector’. When switched on, it produced a ‘shaft of light’ which, when focused on any target, immediately ‘consumed it with its power’.

According to ancient writings found in the cave where the Vimana was discovered, the rightful owner of the flying machine was reportedly the ancient prophet Zoroaster who was the founder of Zoroastrianism.

UFOs Perform Astounding Aerial Spectacle Above a Secluded Forest in Poland

Numerous UFOs were recorded over a desolate forest in Poland just when the sun was setting. Their unusual behavior, brisk moves, dip in brightness and morphing techniques are clearly out of this world.

Numerous accounts speak of unusual beings that coexisted together with humans on this planet. Since the rise of modern society, it appears that such entities are nowhere to be found, vaguely indicating that these stories were only fables or myths transmitted by our ancestors from generation to generation. But how much truth does this hypothesis really bear?

Roughly one century had passed since the invention of proper photographic equipment. Since then, countless pictures and videos of UFOs have surfaced, revealing an entire world of sightings that defy most explanations. Although in the last decades the UFO phenomenon had caught much traction and many appearances were debunked as hoaxes, there’s still plenty of authentic material that never got to be explained through our current scientific means and logic.

But what if our ancestors had video cameras back then? Would humanity accept the existence of otherworldly beings on Earth, or would they still be debunked as fake appearances?

Although they lacked the technological means, our ancestors frequently answered to unusual sightings by depicting them using various tools, and on different materials. Fromcave paintings, to scrolls and books, the UFO phenomenon was known throughout thousands of years, but with this rapid technological shift, our attention was drawn by the fact that we can slowly turn our imagination into reality, thus leaving aside the UFO phenomenon until the beginning of the 1990s.

There is no denial that UFOs exist on this planet, and as video cameras become more complex and affordable at the same time, the quality of recorded sightings grows exponentially. Such is the case of this video showing a group of bright objects behaving unnatural over a secluded forest in Poland.

The objects are known as orb UFOs, and people have reported seeing them all across the world. Contrary to the artificial alien crafts, these playful spheres of light are believed to be organic in nature because of the brisk moves they perform that seem to defy our earthly standards of flying devices capabilities.

Dr. Ruehl has studied them a few decades ago and concluded they are plasmatic entities, possibly from another dimension. They don’t rely on a physical body because they’ve progressed to another level of universal knowledge, thus leaving their material bodies behind. They can now switch from one dimension to another, and when they do so, develop an energy shield around them like the one seen in the video above.

Their shape is not always perfectly round, as they are sometimes seen morphing above the ground. This shapeshifting process makes their aspect undefined and vibrant, similar to how a liquid acts in outer space. Bigger entities sometimes release smaller UFOs, a phenomenon explained through their plasmatic nature that allows them to divide into smaller bits that appear to be sentient as well.

Their purpose on this planet remains a speculative matter. One hypothesis proposed they had been residing on the Earth ever since life began, making them a kind of primordial lifeform that had evolved across countless years of evolution. It is also believed that they exist throughout the entire universe.

Other theories claim these UFOs are alien devices used to monitor humanity. They could be either remote controlled by a species of extraterrestrials, or could be sentient because they are a form of artificial intelligence. However, either cases are not sufficient for explaining their shapeshifting and liquid appearance.

The only proposal in this case would be that intelligent devices/entities possess technology that’s way ahead of our time, thus limiting the comparison field available to our species. In other words, it would be impossible (for now) to understand the technology behind a sentient and artificial-in-nature device that’s monitoring the planet.

Whatever the case, we expect that time will eventually reveal the exact origins and purpose of these UFOS. Until then, keep your eyes on the sky and help us spread the word about this ongoing UFO phenomenon.

A video showing several purported UFO sightings across the US have sparked conspiracy theories that aliens landing on earth could be imminent.

The footage was uploaded to YouTube by Tyler Glockner, founder of Secure Team 10 , a UFO hunting website.

And Tyler now believes that the increased frequency of the sightings of 'alien crafts' could mean that they are about to make themselves known to humans.

First up, is a glowing orange orb that was spotted in the sky above Long Beach in California.

Tyler says: "You will see a disc-shaped object. This object appears in the middle of this glowing orb [about halfway through the video].

"It looks to materialise, you can see it plain as day, sitting dead centre to where this orange radiation is coming from."

The object then disappears again, although the orange orb remains in place.

The second video shows a cluster of lights hovering in the night sky in Omaha, Nebraska.

A man's voice in the background of the footage suggests that lights could be Chinese lanterns, but a woman quickly dismisses the idea.

A third piece of footage captured in Detroit, Michigan, again shows a dark night sky with several lights glimmering.

Residents in parts of Greater Manchester say the truth is out there... after snapping what they say were ‘mysterious lights’ in the sky.

People living in Tameside and in Gorton claim to have seen a strange phenomenon in the night sky.

Mitesh Tailor, 31, said he was amazed to spot ‘glowing lights’ above Ashton-under-Lyne’sHartshead Estate on Friday evening.

HR officer Mitesh first spotted the lights from his bedroom window on Friday, which he says have resumed even more brightly on Saturday and Sunday nights.

Intrigued by the phenomenon, Mitesh took photographs of what he saw shortly after midnight on Sunday.

He said: “At first I didn’t think much of it, on Friday I thought it was just normal but last night it was a lot brighter.

“It’s not the moon, that is on the other side of my house. They weren’t artificial lights either, the area is really dark.”

And in a separate spotting, Gorton resident Zac Weaver also snapped images which show a strong milky light coming through the clouds.

Previously the MEN has reported a number of strange lights above Manchester, with some claiming that the lights were extraterrestrial visitors.

But Tameside resident Mitesh added: “I don’t believe in anything like that! I read the article a few weeks ago and they look very similar.

“I think it maybe Saturn coming closer to Earth, there is probably an astronomical reason.”

Saturn is the furthest planet that can be seen with the naked eye. Earth passed between Saturn and the sun on 3 June this year and for the next few months, the ringed planet will be at its brightest.

Chinese Scientist May Have an Explanation for Ball Lightning

Ball lightning has been blamed for more UFO sightings than weather balloons and for more ghost sightings than reflections. Part of the problem is that, like UFOs and ghosts, no one can really explain ball lightning either. That may change with a new theory from a Chinese scientist that could explain how these sometimes tiny luminous balls form and how they can seemingly pass through walls to float inside houses and even airplanes.

While called “lightning” because it generally appears during thunderstorms, ball lightning doesn’t act like conventional lightning. It’s spherical, often small and is visible longer than a lightning bolt. Photographs of it are rare, attempts to recreate it in a lab are futile and stories about sightings can border on the unbelievable.

Enter H.C. Wu, a researcher at the Institute for Fusion Theory and Simulation (IFTS) and Department of Physics at China’s Zhejiang University. In his paper published recently inScientific Reports, he claims to successfully explain many of the reported but unsubstantiated characteristics of ball lightning.

Wu’s theorizes that ball lightning begins when a bolt of conventional lightning hits the ground or an object and accelerates electrons, causing them to release microwave radiation. This radiation then charges the air around it, forming a “spherical plasma bubble” that envelops and traps the radiation. That spherical plasma bubble is ball lightning.

Ball lightning or UFO?

This may explain outdoor ball lighting, but what about the luminescent floating orbs reportedly seen indoors and in airplane cabins? Wu claims that the electrons are moving at nearly the speed of light, which allows them to pass through walls and the metal skin of planes. Really?

He also postulates that the microwave radiation produces chemicals that cause ball lightning’s reportedly foul smell (plausible) and they give it the explosive powers often reported just prior to the smell (like an egg in a microwave?).

Ball lightning, orb or something else?

Wu’s study proposes a number of ways ball lightning might be created in a lab but – in case any kids with access to electricity and microwaves read Scientific Reports – warns that ball lightning is “an alarm signal of the existence of ultrastrong microwaves and abundantly hazardous electrons near the ground or aircraft.”

Is this a sufficient explanation for ball lightning? Does it clear up any UFO, glowing orb or ghost sightings for you?

These Otherworldly Memorials Commemorate Famous UFO Incidents in Europe

For those who claim to have had close-encounters with landed UFO craft over the decades, experiences of this sort are recognized as having long-lasting effects on witnesses. Sometimes there are physical changes that occur, which may affect the health of an individual, or even present some residual presence on the environment, which suggests a physical interaction that had taken place.

Occasionally, the broader influence of these kinds of incidents may go well beyond even what the witness experienced, or what was found there afterward. Staking their claim in the histories of the places where they occurred, some UFO incidents have left such a lasting impression that they have been made into memorial sites, as tributes built in their memory.

Perhaps the most famous commemorative sites relating to purported UFO landings is the “UFO Trail” near Suffolk, England, which remembers the famous Rendlesham Forest Incident. The trail is befitted with triangular signs, no doubt an artistic touch that was intended as nod to the triangular or pyramid-shaped craft observed there over the course of several nights in December, 1980.

In Scotland, a similar memorial commemorates the purported “attack” of a man named Robert Taylor, who  one year prior to the Rendlesham incident, claimed to have observed the landing of an unusual aircraft at Dechmont Law in Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland in November, 1979. Taylor was a forestry worker at the time, and said a pair of objects that emerged from the landed UFO attempted to drag him on board the craft; he later returned home appearing disheveled, and complained to his wife that he had been attacked. Taylor’s story is further detailed in the video below:

Other locations may present less convincing circumstances, despite the memorials that exist there. On May 18, 1946, roughly coinciding with the beginning of Sweden’s “ghost rocket” wave that year, a Swedish businessman Gösta Carlsson claimed to have observed a UFO land near a forested area of Kronoskogen, outside Ängelholm. Researcher Clas Svahn, who studied the incident in-depth (and even authored a book with Carlsson on the case), later reported that no evidence seemed to exist that could substantiate Carlsson’s sighting.

One of the most peculiar alleged close encounters that would eventually be commemorated with a landmark at the location occurred near Emilicin, Poland, on May 10, 1978. Farmer Jan Wolski was driving a horse-drawn carriage near his home when he observed an elongated, bus-sized aircraft hovering several feet off the ground, which somewhat resembled an Airstream luxury trailer with peculiar external fittings. A number of smallish individuals appeared around Wolski, who joined him on his cart and directed him toward the object. Strangely, Wolski had mistaken them for being “foreigners” due to the language they spoke, and despite the apparent greenish coloration of their faces, which bore peculiar, slanted eyes. Once they reached the object over the field, Wolski was taken aboard, and advised to disrobe, at which time an examination by two objects resembling plates or “saucers”. After this unusual examination, Wolski was allowed to dress, and was offered to partake in an unusual meal with the “creatures” ow what resembled icicles.

Wolski returned to the location later that day with his sons, and a few of his neighbors, but by that time the unusual “craft” had vanished, though evidence of grass nearby that was “trodden down covered with dew and paths coming in all directions” could still be observed. Today, a memorial that exists there commemorate’s Wolski’s unusual experience, stating that, “On 10 May 1978 in Emilcin a UFO object landed. The truth will astonish us in the future”.

Whether or not any “astonishing” future truths are yet to be afforded us is anyone’s guess. However, the stories of these unusual UFO events have indeed been preserved for future generations, thanks to the work of a handful in our midst that are dedicated to understanding, and preserving the history of the ongoing UFO mystery.

Watch: Swarm of 'UFOs' Filmed over Volcano

An infrared web cam observing a volcano in Mexico captured remarkable footage of a veritable fleet of glowing objects that have left viewers guessing as to their nature.

The incident, culled from a livestream video of the Popocatepetl volcano, begins at around 25 seconds into the footage when a handful of glowing orbs come into view.

This initial cadre seemingly gives way to dozens more of the anomalous objects which fill the screen as they fly in all directions.

And then, just as quickly as the swarm formed, it dissipates down to one lone glowing orb that eventually flies away.

Observers have offered a variety of explanations for the enigmatic footage, with skeptics suggesting that the 'UFOs' are only insects or dust from the volcano.

And, to their credit, it certainly does appear that whatever was filmed over the volcano seemed less like an organized group of UFOs and more like some form of mother nature.

However, ET enthusiasts argue that the infrared aspect of the video is key, since they believe that people otherwise would not have been able to see the 'craft.'

Perhaps the two camps can split the difference and decide that the orbs were actually just fairies observing the majesty of Mt. Popocatepetl, like the ones allegedly spotted in Wales last week.

The infrared webcam may be akin to a similar tactic for UFO observation that has become increasingly popular over the last few years: night vision goggles.

For most people, spotting a UFO would be considered extremely unusual, but for two Ohio women, seeing a UFO was the least surprising part of their experience.

In June 2001, two sisters, Angie Whitmeyer and Deborah Simmons, were returning from a day of shopping in Dayton, Ohio, when a strange light in the sky caught their attention.

“We were heading home to Kingman, Ohio, on State Road 73,” Deborah recalled. “It was a beautiful evening around 8:30 p.m., the air was warm and the sky crystal clear. Angie was driving and I was watching the scenery go by when I noticed a bright light in the western sky.”

Deborah watched in amazement as the light grew in intensity and flew towards the car at an incredible speed.

“Deborah asked me what that weird light was,” said Angie. “But we were close to Caesar Creek Lake and the road was pretty dark so I wasn’t paying a lot of attention to it. But then it flew right in front of us so I couldn’t miss it.”

The bright light soared past the car and hovered over the nearby treetops, casting an eerie glow over the entire area. Whitmeyer pulled the car over onto the side of the road so they could get a better look at the unusual object.

Deborah was shocked by how large and close the UFO was to them: “The light was so bright and white that you couldn’t see any shape behind it. But we could tell it was pretty big, at least as big as a house. The funny thing was that I couldn’t hear any sort of engine like you would normally hear with an airplane or helicopter. It was completely silent.”

Suddenly, another, identical bright light swooped down from the sky and hovered a short distance away. The two sisters decided the situation was becoming too strange and tried to drive away.

“That’s when I discovered that the car had stopped and I couldn’t restart it,” Angie said. “Nothing worked, the lights, the radio, it was completely dead.”

The two women also noticed an odd silence had descended over the area, accompanied by a strange feeling of isolation. Angie remembered that it seemed as if they were the only people in the world.

“I don’t remember seeing another car come by during the entire time we were there, which is really weird because at that time of an evening there’s always traffic on that road. And it was just dead silent outside, no birds, nothing. It was as if we were in another world.”

Uncertain what to do next, Angie and her sister continued to watch the strange pair of lights, when, unexpectedly, both objects shot straight up and disappeared into the night sky. The area was plunged into darkness, and oddly enough, the normal sounds of the night came back almost as if switched on.

“As soon as the lights flew away,” Deborah said, “the car started running again all by itself. The lights and radio were on just as they were before everything happened.”

According to their watches, the strange encounter had lasted more than 20 minutes. However, when they arrived home, Deborah’s husband seemed unconcerned about what they thought was a late arrival. That’s when they discovered that instead of being after 9:00 p.m., as their wristwatches indicated, it was only 8:35 p.m.

“It was as if the entire time we spent looking at those lights had never happened,” Angie said. “But it did happen, our watches both showed we had been stuck out there for over 20 minutes, but somehow we gained that time back with a few minutes to spare. Normally we should have been home at around ten to nine, but somehow, despite what had happened, we got there early.”

Another notable feature of many cases is the sudden unusual silence and an overwhelming feeling of isolation in the proximity of a UFO. Many people have noted that normal sounds—birds, insects, traffic—suddenly stop just before and during a close UFO sighting.

A man from Wisconsin reported that he had observed a UFO hovering over the treetops directly over his head once while deer hunting. He stated that the day had been windy and the trees were swaying and creaking pretty loudly in the breeze. What made him look up was the fact that all of a sudden the forest went “completely dead.”

He noted that the trees had stopped moving as if “frozen in place.” That is when he noticed a strange, dark, triangle-shaped object floating over the trees.

“It was a little bigger than a pickup truck and was solid black. I didn’t see any lights or hear any kind of sound from it.”

The hunter reported feeling like he was “looking up through a tunnel with me at the bottom and the UFO at the top. I knew that I was completely alone and that no one could help me.”

As soon as the UFO passed overhead the forest returned to normal.

The experience of such unusual sensations around a UFO has been dubbed “the Oz Effect” by UFO researcher and author Jenny Randles, and may indicate that there could be a field of influence that is being emitted around a UFO. Anyone close enough to a UFO would find himself completely contained within this field. The odd effects noticed by eyewitnesses could give us some kind of indication of the true nature of these energy fields. Unfortunately, anecdotal accounts of UFO experiences have rarely been followed up with rigorous studies of their content.

In 1981, Linda Taylor and her mother were traveling by car to Chorlton, a district of Manchester, England. The normally busy road became strangely empty and the two women noticed a huge light in the sky that seemed to pace their car.

Linda told investigators that her car “jerked about” and slowed down despite her attempts to accelerate. Suddenly, an “old-fashioned” car appeared in the road ahead and drove straight towards the two women. At the same time the light in the sky turned into a metal disc that hovered over the main road.

As the UFO moved away from Taylor and her mother, the old car vanished instantly. When the women returned home they found that two hours were missing from their trip. As with some others who have had close UFO encounters, Linda later had several odd psychic experiences and further time lapses.

Time distortions may not always occur with a visible UFO nearby. In 1980, Peter Rojcewicz, now a professor of humanities and folklore at New York’s Juilliard School, was in the University of Pennsylvania library reading a UFO book suggested by another professor.

As he read, Rojcewicz noticed that someone was standing in front of him. Looking up, Rojcewicz saw a very gaunt, pale man, about six feet tall and weighing around 140 pounds. The strange man wore a black suit, black shoes, a black string tie, and a bright white shirt. His suit was loose and it looked as though he had slept in it for days.

“He sat down like he had dropped from the ceiling—all in one movement—and folded his hands on top of a stack of books in front of him,” Rojcewicz said. The man asked Rojcewicz what he was doing. Rojcewicz said he was reading about flying saucers.

“Have you seen a flying saucer?” the man asked. Rojcewicz said he hadn’t.

“Do you believe in the reality of flying saucers?” Rojcewicz said he didn’t know much about them and wasn’t sure he was very interested in the phenomena.

The man screamed: “Flying saucers are the most important fact of the century and you are not interested?”

The man then stood up, again, all in a single awkward movement, put his hand on Rojcewicz’s shoulder, and said: “Go well on your purpose.” With that, he left.

Rojcewicz was suddenly overwhelmed by fear: “I had a sense that this man was out of the ordinary and that idea frightened me. I got up and walked around the stacks toward where the reference librarians usually are. The librarians weren’t there. There were no guards there—there was nobody else in the library…I was utterly alone and terrified.”

The professor went back to the table where he had been reading “to get myself together. It took me about an hour. Then I got up and everything was back to normal; the people were all there.”

It would seem that Rojcewicz could have been placed into a separate time-space field in order for his contact to occur. The entire episode may have occurred in the blink of an eye in normal time-space. But for Rojcewicz, an entire hour passed.

One gentleman, who reported his alleged UFO abduction on an Internet forum, said that when he was being returned from an abduction to the motel room where he was staying, he “noticed that there was a person in the parking lot below us (myself and several ‘Grays,’ were ‘floating’ in mid-air so I had a bird’s eye view of the surroundings,) [who] seemed to be frozen in mid-step. Everything was dead quiet and nothing was moving. It was as if time had stopped or frozen for the few moments it took for them to transport me from a UFO back to my room that was located on the second floor of the motel.”

These interesting cases show that there is still a lot we have to learn from UFO reports. Investigators need to be willing to look beyond the traditional “by-the-book” questions and allow the witnesses to relate their entire experience—no matter how unusual it may be. Many researchers and databases fail to mention some of the stranger aspects of UFO encounters because they don’t fit a particular belief system or bias. We can learn much more if researchers put aside their own personal feelings and allow the full information to come forward.

Currently, any theories and conclusions are really little more than speculation. Nevertheless, scientists who are not afraid to look beyond the norm are every day developing new concepts in physics and the true nature of reality.

10 Creepy Stories Of Encounters With Men In Black

Men in black have been popping up for awhile, usually whenever someone claims to have recently sighted a UFO. Shortly after each sighting, the person in question is visited by strange men who usually wear black suits, black ties, and white shirts.

The details and motives sometimes vary, but even stranger are the variations in the descriptions of the men in question. While some tales simply describe them as cold, aloof gentlemen wearing black suits, others say that they get an uncanny vibe from those who visit them. The stories tell of men who are unnaturally bald, men who talk in an almost robotic voice and wear lipstick over lipless mouths. Some suggest that they are from another world, disguising themselves as humans to learn our ways. Others believe that they are experimental cyborgs in the employ of the government. The truth behind the men in black is still shrouded in mystery, and we may never know the identity of these strange stalkers.

10. The Telepathic Encounter

A man known only as Larry claims that one night he was drifting off to sleep when he was contacted by a strange presence who communicated with him telepathically. This weird presence explained that he was not from Earth, but beyond that he gave no reason for contacting Larry. Somewhat skeptical, Larry asked the presence to provide some proof of its existence beyond simply sending thoughts into his head—he wanted a face-to-face meeting. The presence agreed to provide him with further proof—he would show up during the day when Larry was with his best friend.

Larry wasn’t sure what to make of the entire thing the next day, and while he continued on with life as usual, he obsessed about the dream for months afterward. Eventually, he caught up with his buddy at an Independence Day celebration at a nearby park. As Larry was talking with his friend, a black van pulled up nearby and two black-clad men got out. Two more similarly dressed men exited the van after them, but they did not appear to be entirely human in shape. The strange men sat down at a nearby picnic table, looked over at Larry, and then reentered their van and left just as mysteriously as they had arrived. Larry never found out why they had contacted him.

9. The Teleporting MIBs

Albert Bender was the director of an amateur organization called the International Flying Saucer Bureau and he believed that he had finally blown the lid off the whole flying saucer thing. He had his own publication calledSpace Review in which he planned to spread his discovery. After compiling all of his collected wisdom on the matter, he mailed it to a friend to look it over before he unveiled it to the world. Unfortunately, this attracted the attention of the men in black, who decided that it was time to pay him a visit and prevent him from leaking all their secrets to the world.

A couple days later, Bender was on his bed when he suddenly had a dizzy spell. He noticed several dark shapes in the room with him that slowly materialized into men in black suits with black hats obscuring their eyes and faces. He noticed in particular that the men’s eyes lit up with an incredible glow and they seemed capable of speaking directly to his mind. They made him promise to destroy his findings and cease all of his research into the subject—Bender was so scared that he was only too happy to comply.

8. Alleged Men In Black Caught On Video

A video was captured of two men in black who allegedly entered a hotel in Canada and started asking questions about one of the hotel employees. The stories say that the employee in question had recently seen a UFO and had told others about his experience. Not long after, these two men showed up at his place of employment. Luckily for him, he was not working during their visit.

According to witness accounts, the men were asking people not only about the employee in question, but also about conspiracies in general. They had no eyebrows or eyelashes, strange, hypnotic eyes, bald heads possibly disguised by wigs, and clothes that seemed to be meant for fitting in, but somehow were just enough out of place to raise alarm bells. These two men were definitely caught on camera—the question is whether they were clandestine government agents, beings from another world in disguise, or simply the product of a clever hoax. Regardless of the answer, there is something hair-raising about two men in suits walking into a hotel in the middle of the day and asking strange questions about one of the employees, then leaving as mysteriously as they came.

7. A Postal Worker’s Terrifying Experience

An anonymous postal worker from Washington, DC was out delivering mail one day when he decided to stop and eat an apple. When he was finished, he looked around for a trash can and, finding none, decided to just toss it onto the ground. Before he could leave the area, a security guard approached and lectured him for his negligence, explaining that the entire building and surrounding grounds were under constant surveillance. The postal worker thought about this, along with the fact that he already had to be buzzed in to deliver the mail, and began thinking that there was more to this place than met the eye.

Awhile later, he was out on his usual delivery run when he came by the foreboding building again. This time, he saw three men walking toward the building, except they didn’t appear to be like men. They waddled when they walked instead of putting one foot in front of the other, and they wereabnormally thin—it was this thinness more than anything that frightened him.

Though shaken, he decided to soldier on and march his way up to the door to deliver the mail. When he entered, he found a group of men who began questioning him about what he had seen moments earlier. He was flabbergasted and unable to respond until one of the strange beings who he had seen earlier sidled up near him, at which point he felt even more terrified. After more grilling by the men in the room, and after repeating that he had seen nothing at all, he was allowed to leave. His mail route was changed shortly afterward.

6. The Man In Black Who Liked To Hang Out

In most stories, the men in black are malevolent, intimidating entities who only appear briefly after someone sees something they weren’t supposed to. But that’s not always the case. In one account, a woman claims that when she was a child her engineer father was regularly visited by a man in black who went simply by the name Lev. This man was completely bald, which she noted was very odd during her time. When she went to shake his hand, the skin was impossibly smooth, as if he had no hair whatsoever on his body.

The man constantly wore his trademark dark suit, glasses, and hat, even on scorching summer days. He was known for hanging around several engineers in the area, and her father always visited him in a little house near the local supermarket. The woman who tells the story says that she is sure her father knew Lev was an alien, although she never figured out what they talked about during their meetings.

5. A Visit To The State Department

An anonymous man related a tale of a strange experience he had while sightseeing in Washington, DC. Without realizing that there really wasn’t anything of interest for a civilian to see, he wandered into the State Department building. He meandered through the lobby for awhile until security became suspicious of him and headed over to usher him out of the building. However, before they could do so, he saw something that he would never forget.

The elevator opened and five men got out. Two of them were very businesslike and wore gray suits that were formal, but hardly remarkable beyond that. What drew his attention were the other three men in their escort. These men wore black hats pulled low over their eyes and long, black trench coats, even though it was the middle of the summer. The appearance seemed so strange that our observer could only describe it as “cartoonish.”

As they were walking by, one of the strange men lost his footing on the marble floor and fell to the ground, dropping his portfolio in the process. Upon helping him up, he noticed that the man’s legs seemed extraordinarily weak and it felt like there was a thick layer of wool underneath his suit. Even stranger, the man’s expression never appeared to change at all, despite falling onto the hard marble floor. Near the dropped portfolio, he found a small coin with words written in no language he could identify—one side depicted a man with features like a wolf and the other had navigational lines and two crescent moons.

4. The Men In Gray

Normally, the sneaky men who appear after UFO sightings are dressed all in black, but in one tale from Essex, England, they chose gray suits. William Shearer claimed to have seen a UFO, and a few days later two men showed up at his house. One of the men stayed by the car and maintained an intimidating presence while the other grilled Shearer about his experience. On this first visit, however, the man seemed more concerned with gaining permission to enter Shearer’s home than the answers Shearer was giving him.

The men spoke in a strange voice that seemed flat and expressionless and had extremely pale skin. This, along with the oddly intimidating behavior, was enough to scare Shearer and he chose not to let them into his house. Unfortunately for him, his experience was not yet at an end. The men ominously proclaimed that they would visit him again and, not long after, they turned up at his work. They made it clear that they wanted to talk about UFOs and once again asked permission to enter. When Shearer turned them down again, the men vanished and never returned—although Shearer believes that since then his phone has been tapped.

3. The Mystery Of The Loch

Loch Ness has always been a place of mystery and intrigue. Many people believe that the depths of the lake contain a primordial creature from the early days of the Earth and some have dedicated their lives to proving its existence. One man named Frederick Holiday was well known for being passionate about the study of cryptozoology and had spent years looking for evidence of creatures in the lake. Perhaps paranormal phenomena are more connected then we might have thought, because while out investigating the lake for the Loch Ness monster, Holiday had an experience that he would never forget.

Holiday looked up on a hill near the lake and spotted a strange man dressed in a black suit. While it wasn’t remarkable for people to sightsee along the lake, Holiday was struck by the fact that the man seemed to be looking directly at him. He was profoundly disturbed and reported feeling malevolence from the being that was staring him down. Before he could do anything, there was a bizarre noise and the man was gone as mysteriously as he had appeared. Just one year later, Holiday was back at the Loch for further studies when he had a heart attack—as he was being carried to the ambulance, he passed over the exact place where the strange man had been standing.

2. The Angry MIB

A professor of folklore named Peter Rojcewicz told of an experience that occurred one night in the college library while he was reading a book on UFOs that had been recommended to him by a colleague. He was just relaxing in a chair and reading his book when he noticed what appeared to be a leg and a shoe out of the corner of his eye. Before he knew it, there was a man sitting in a chair in front of him. The man immediately asked Rojcewicz about the book he was reading and questioned him on whether he had seen UFOs or was at all interested in the phenomenon.

When the professor stated that he wasn’t really that interested in the subject to begin with and was only reading the book to satisfy the suggestion of a colleague, the man became enraged and angrily asked him how he could not be interested in “the most important facts of the century.” Seemingly satisfied that the professor was not going to dig into the world of UFOs, the man left, but not before telling the professor to “go well on his purpose.” However, while it seems like this would be the end of it, it’s here that the story takes a turn for the extra creepy.

After the encounter, Rojcewicz got up to walk around the library. However, none of the librarians were anywhere to be seen. The same went for the guards and all the patrons. In fact, as far as he could tell, the library was completely deserted except for him. The professor returned to his chair in an attempt to gather his wits. In about an hour, according to the professor, he decided to get up and look around again—and this time he found that everything was as it should be.

1. The Stranded Photographer

Back in the 1960s, Jim Templeton took a photo of his daughter near Burgh Marsh, and before long it made big news. You might have heard of this photo as the Solway Firth Spaceman, which captures what looks like an unexplained figure in an astronaut outfit in the background. Stranger then the photo is the experience that Templeton had shortly after taking it. He was at work when a car arrived with two men who claimed to be working for the government. When asked, they refused to identify themselves beyondthe codes #9 and #10. Even though their badges pointed to no specific government agency, Templeton agreed to get in the car with them and drive back to the Marsh to answer their questions.

The questions were pretty strange. Apart from the expected ones, like where it had happened and whether there were any other witnesses, they also wanted to know about the weather conditions and the behavior of the animals in the area. Templeton told the men that the domestic animals in the area had seemed scared on the day in question and had huddled together for protection.

It was after stating this that the men became much more hostile toward Templeton and started questioning the validity of his story. Of course, Templeton would not go to all this trouble simply to admit defeat, even if his story wasn’t entirely honest, and claimed that he was indeed telling the truth as far as he knew it. The men seemed to be unconvinced and headed back to their car. They drove off and simply left the baffled photographer in the dust to find his own way home.

The alien in Box 24; body intact and UFO wreckage – True or False?

The content of the alien in the Box is supposedly part of the wreckage recovered by Sergeant Lyan Macdersen, on October 5, 1948, near Clarkville, Kentucky.

All the recovered material was brought and stored in the Wright Patterson Air Force Base. The ship found in the impact site was associated with UFO observed by several witnesses on May 22 and September 27, 1948 near Hargensfield, New Jersey, and later slaughtered by order of Lieutenant Colonel Nathan F. Twining.

At the time Lieutenant Colonel Nathan F. Twining was Chief Command of the US Air Force Material and regarded very seriously the UFO subject. Is he authored the famous secret memorandum, dated September 23, 1947 on flying saucers – that is, two months after the Roswell – which tacitly claimed their superiors in Government: – “The reported phenomenon is something real and not something visionary or fiction. “

14 mysterious North East UFO sightings from the Chronicle archive

As Independence Day: Resurgence is released, we recall the 'Gateshead grey' aliens and UFO sightings over the decades

The Hollywood blockbuster Independence Day: Resurgence has arrived at the cinema.

As a $165m sequel to the original film, released 20 years ago, the newly-released action movie sees the Earth attacked by huge alien spaceships piloted by malign locust-like extraterrestrials bent on taking over our planet.

The stuff of extreme fantasy? Let’s hope so!

But since 1947, and the famous ‘Roswell’ incident in the United States - when a crashed flying saucer and its alien passengers were reportedly captured by the Army - sightings of UFOs around the world have been persistent and plentiful.

The North East has its own dossier of strange and unexplained phenomena, but do these strange appearances in our skies across the decades have a logical, mundane explanation - or has ET been paying sneaky visits to Geordieland?

Here, we recall 14 intriguing UFO stories from the Chronicle’s archive.

1. In 1940, Robert Hall claimed to have been abducted by aliens from a back lane in Bensham, Gateshead. He was “taken on board a spaceship by a group of grey, horrible- looking creatures.”

2. In 1951, The Chronicle received numerous calls about a “flying pencil” in Newcastle and produced an artist’s impression.

3. During the 1960s, strange sightings in the sky over Gateshead included a sliver saucer the size of a car, shining pink discs, shimmering silver objects and a roving fireball.

4. In 1964, there were mysterious sights on Gateshead’s Leam Lane Estate. Three “egg-shaped” objects were reported in the night sky by a schoolboy. Children in the area later said they saw “little green men”.

5. In 1971, a retired teacher reported a giant object hovering over Alnwick Castle. She said: “It was shaped like a fat cigar, black and with a luminous green strip around its edge. It was easily the length of the castle in the sky. I was amazed.”

6. In 1972, the Chronicle carried a report about a massive silver-coloured flying saucer “as big as five or six jumbo jets” according to one witness, hovering over Westerhope.

7. Also in the 1970s, a Newcastle teacher saw a UFO heading east, high over Denton Bank: “It stopped just over the horizon and was stationary for about 10 seconds. Then it vanished in a low cloud, but left vapour trails visible for about seven minutes. It was a tremendous size.”

8. In 1977, a Flight Lieutenant based at RAF Boulmer reported seeing “bright objects hanging over the sea” including an object that was “luminous, round and four to five times larger than a helicopter”. Other servicemen observed the strange craft and reported the sighting to commanding officers.

9. In 1978, a 21-year-old nurse told us how she watched a small, “deafening” UFO that resembled a “cigar tin” glide between her house and her next-door neighbour’s in Killingworth.

10. In 1979, families in Ashington’s Woodbridge Estate ran into the streets to watch a “saucer-shaped” object hovering above their homes. It was described as a “large silver dome with yellow lights underneath”.

11. In 1980, a 61-year-old woman and her son, 25, were walking through a Jarrow park when, she says, they were “buzzed” by a flying two-foot glowing orange ball which hovered just a few feet away from them.

12. In 1981 , a Felling housewife told the Chronicle how she’d been terrified by a group of 12 two-feet tall “doll-like” aliens who appeared in her bedroom at 4 in the morning.

13. In 2004, a Gateshead vicar photographed a bright object hovering in the night sky. He said: “It was hovering from left to right, and was extremely smooth...then the light just turned off as if it was still there, but hidden.”

14. In 2015, a Tynemouth man filmed a dome-shaped object with pulsating lights hovering over the North East coast. Other people reported seeing the same UFO.
